Reviews of Ruchill Park
D. A. K.
Visiting this place is fun and has amazing beauty
b. 0.
Loved this park. Great basketball court and a spare hoop for balling. Great areas for the kids to play about and excellent views of the city as well. If its exercise you want then this would suit all your needs as well.
G. R.
How satisfied you will be with a park depends upon what you want from a park. Despite living not far from Ruchill Park I had never been in it until yesterday since other local parks would certainly have been very busy.
Ruchill Park was quiet except for a couple of families and some dog walkers. It was much bigger than I expected. The park is well cared for and has areas which have been left to nature. Great view from the flag poll at the top of the hill and the park was an unexpected delight
G. M.
A compact, well maintained city park with wide avenues and some great views across the city. A decent level of facilities too with football pitch, basketball court, disc golf and several popular kids playparks.
R. A.
I saw nice people and pretty dears hugging in the park 😍
M. K.
The views from the top of the park are stunning. You can walk up to the flag pole and see better views.
T. L.
The new fencing around the park is looking very good , great work boys , working hard in that blistering sun to, great job keep it up.
Hope the locals appreciate the work gone into it . This is our community keep it tidy please everyone . And pick up your dog mess !
C. A.
Not enough bins for rubbish. Also of black bags tied to fences with dog mess in it at benches
P. M.
Beautiful park with a nice view of the city
I. G.
Been years since I've been just brought back a lot of good memories went up to the steeple to see the view a we bit disappointed as tree and hedges blocking the lovely view
A. H.
Extensive routes available through this large, hilly park. Very well maintained but wild and woody in places. Great views over the city.
P. N.
Nice view up around the flag pole. Good for sledgeing in the winter. Going by the results at the winter Olympics. I think the team might train here in the winter.
G. D.
Its a nice walk, play parks are definitely geared toward smaller kids. Saw a couple of deer too!
I.
Relatively small park, but lovely surroundings!
C. M.
Good park to relax. Basketball and football courts available. Also exercising machines.
F. B.
Amazing park. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Nicely Maintained and lots of greenery.
E. P.
It's a big and clean park, have a good city view spot. And as a good park has a football field and swings for the kids. On the other hand it's very good for walks and runnings 😃
T. M.
I walk my dog in Ruchill Park very often. I also run my 3.3 miles in this park 2 times per week. It has good views and landscape. During the weekend, lots of people walking their dogs in this park, this is a friendly neighborhood park with local people and kids. I would recommend it to people who would like to walk their dogs with some height climbings.
D. D.
Nice 😍😍😍
A. A.
Nice place for a wee wonder, my favourite place in this park is the little sight up the flap pole. Highly recommend going up there for the beautiful view of west end and else where, north, south east, west.
D. W.
Really nice place to chill out with view on the city's downtown.
L. D.
beautifully kept park. Lovely on a spring day
C. D.
beautiful place lots of space and nature ✨
G. R.
Disc golf park is layed out well. A wee bit sketchy.
E. P.
Place I explored as a boy, many many good memories
D. S.
Excellent for walking ,kicking a ball qbout
R. W. (.
Lovely hilly park, great 9 hole Disc Golf course. Quite a lot of litter.
K. H.
Some of the best views of Glasgow and beyond from the top of the park. Great place for a parkrun on a Saturday morning too. Could do with a wee bit of work on some of the paths etc otherwise would be 5 stars.
M.
flowers are in bloom, park is clean and tidy, hear birds singing and plenty of paths to explore with quiet areas to enjoy away from the hustle and bustle of children's play and adventure areas
a. m.
Park is popular with joggers ,walkers, family's, very big park has about 4 different play areas spaces about the park, also a small football pitch that was being uses for football coaching/ training at the time. Has a tall point to walk up and gives a very good view down on the city. Wouldn't travel too far to get there but ok if you stay fairly local, will pass alot of time to go round whole park.
C. B.
Spacious and varied, with trimmed grass, woodland, rough grass and some playground and sports pitches. All set around a substantial hill with flagpole, and great views across the city.
Wide paths in good condition for cycling.
A. M.
Another of Glasgows great Parks. Great for a walk, kids play areas and a multi use sports area. Fantastic views over the City from the flag pole at the top of the hill. Well worth the effort.
M. M.
Park of my childhood xx

Dear Green Place enough said
V. P.
Lovely park, on a slope though and a bit far from busy centres. Great for a private picnic or quiet place to enjoy the sun.
I. C.
A welcome slightly hilly park. Great views across the city from up at the flagpole. There's a strange game that crosses golf with throwing frisbees at specially adapted nets there too. I had wondered what the odd yellow bin like things were until I saw the poster about it. It's a nice place for a stroll if you fancy a change from the canal side.
A. T.
It's massive, great for barbequing, lots of spots for either excersise or for kids to play, and it is relaxing with fresh air
H. M.
This was our newest Glasgow park to visit and what a lovely place it is too! The views at the top, across Glasgow are incredible! The children’s play parks are well maintained too. We will be back!
L. R.
Well maintained park, lots of decent paths and well maintained gardens. However it very hilly, but the views from the top make the hill climb to the flagpole worth it.
Definately would visit again, nice change from busy West End parks.
m. p.
Looks lovely in the snow! Nice break from the city.
C. B.
Nice, quiet, relaxing park. A bit steep in places but great for local dog owners.
F. M.
This beautiful park in Glasgow has the very best 9 hole disc golf course in the UK by a country mile. Each and every hole demands brilliant execution. The views and layout are spectacular. A real hive of activity and on a sunny day, it's just a heavenly place to be.
Great for all ages, friends, family, you name it. Ruchill Park is one of a kind.
J. F.
A great viewpoint to go at the flagpole, with amazing photographic views above the city and into the Campsies. [Recommend wearing ice grips
if the conditions are frosty / icy.]
Friendly people, and well worth a visit.
R. R.
Scenic park & great green panoramas.
S. E.
Really nice and away from the maddening crowds of the botanics but a quite a bit more rubbish on the paths/grass
A. H.
Nice place for picnic
A. H.
Bit rough around the edges, but great views from the radio mast over the surrounding areas
A. K.
Very quite place great place to bring big bunda gyals to play cricket (mumbai fc under 15s yar)
T. D.
Lovely scenic place for the entire family to go.
No driving allowed inside the park by the general public.
Plenty of exercise stations if you wish to exercise outdoors seriously or for fun.
A. “.
Nice wew park to the north of Glasgow close to Firhill football stadium. Good for walking a dog. The park is well maintained and is a good place for local residents to escape from their houses too. Not been here at night so not sure what to expect!
A. L.
Pleasant stroll, amazing cityscape view from the mast on the hill. Plenty of paths for an extended walk, three play area for kids wooded areas for shade, and open grassy areas for catching the sun, picnics, etc.
L. K.
Beautiful park for a dog walk. Beware of broken glass in places.
g.
If try and find the bottom of the flag pole you'll find the top of a great viewpoint.
Easy to miss but hard to forget.
C. H.
It's a great park, like that they have excercise machines that I can use, my granddaughter loves the swing and she usually goes in to all 3 swing parks and like to join in on the excercises aswel
G. M.
Nice park for walking, there's a few play areas for kids, basketball, football cages, a wee pond, some woodland and a climb to the top of the hill will be rewarded with a fantastic view of Glasgow and beyond.
S. S.
Been coming here for over 30 years. The park is great for dog walking. Family's can come along and enjoy the play areas when the weather allows for days out.
If your a fitness fanatic there are events held including fun runs, air golf and hills for the energetic, steep hills, bending hills, hard ground, soft ground.
A lot of the park is over grown over the years paths have disappeared under moss and shrubbery. But still visible if you want to explore the area look out for them.
The students recently brought the park to life when the recent snow fell arrived. As kids growing up in the area we loved going here in the snow with anything that would represent a sledge from a dinner tray out your grans kitchen to one of her oven trays if you never had a sledge.
The students where here with those items plus snowboards and anything that slid them down the steep hills. There were snow men built everywhere, different characters making you smile and happy to be here.
Now for the worst part and my photos will show why.
The FLAGPOLE
After walking up to the park some may decide to go the extra wee climb up the spiraling hill to the view point known as the flagpole. Here you have a great view of the city centre. As you rotate yourself around the circle trying to take in the full view you will be disappointed. At some point in the career of a park ranger some one must have thought it would be good to plant up shrubs and other plants along with some trees. Adding colour to the hill around the view.
I think a review is needed and work should be carried out here ASAP. You get the great view over the city centre then looking around to any part away from the roof tops of the city your view of to the fantastic scenery of the campsie hills etc is obscured by fur trees, birch trees etc all planted at the top of the hill.
Please GCC sort this and let visitors enjoy a full 360° view as would have been intended when the area was built up.
S. J.
It's a park so I wasn't surprised to find grass, trees and paths spiralling their way through it.
I was shocked to find a gigantic, talking unicorn deep within the central wooded area, however. It must have been there for some time as it speaks fluent Ruchillese and called me a "warmer".
Still, a nice park and well worth a wander round.
土.
One of my favourite spots in Glasgow.
A. G.
Fantastic place to walk, run, walk the dog and spend time with kids.
D. “. R.
Great park for kids/dogs and running. Needs massive investment as it has been left to rot for good few(10+) years now.
A. W. (.
Looking good but there is a chronic shortage of waste bins and seats.
M. C.
Great steep park
E. B.
An amazing park. Big enough for everyone to enjoy them selves without bending the rules.
J. L.
Lots space but nothing for kids it needs a lot work so younger children can play .just 2 child swings
M. J.
Surprisingly spacious but simple park with amazing views from the top and disc golf if that's your thing.
G. G.
Nice view from the top but other than that just an ordinary park
G. M.
Nice for a wee dog walk
C. F.
Lovely big park, perfect for dog walking or for the kids to run about. Just a pity there's often a lot of broken glass around the pond area.
T. D.
A fine park, with a great view over the city from around the flagpole.
S. S.
Only a car park and the old water tower from the hospital that's been demolished now to see here , but still a beautiful piece of architecture
E. S.
Nice wee park for walking the dogs.
A. C.
Saturday 28 August 2021..9.30.A.M PARKRUN fantastic 👏
I. L.
A great place for dog walkers. Fantastic views of Glasgow and surrounding areas

F. O.
Quite a beautiful park. A lot to view around
K. J.
Great place to chill, walk around, play disc golf, basketball. Good for kids as well.
C. M.
Great Park for a walk with my dog really kept well and clean and everybody very nice also has a great wee gym, a basketball court and a football pitch.... only 4 stars as no lights at night so very dark to walk the dog this should defo be sorted!!!
F. B.
I've grew up around this park & have fond memories of the park,we locals hold our park in high esteem, always well looked after & arrangements are as good as anywhere, especially in summer, always so bright & colourful, delighted they removed they dangerous spikes to a modern fence,,mu friend fell off a tree in 70s & arm went clean through that spike, could have easily been his chest, neck, etc so well done but you also took your time, kids will try climb any fence,so your only making a dangerous situation for kids when u still have dangerous fences within the park, please remove them,
C. N.
Probably my favourite park in Glasgow. Old reputation of being dangerous. Now empty, cleaner than most other parks and beautiful views of the city
p. C.
Ruchill Park is a great big park with entrances at both sides from Ruchill round to panmure st & also a entrance at possil side. There is plenty to do from walking, also a good play park at both sides from Ruchill & Possil.also got a measured mile ? or miles for joggers & up to date play parks for the kids,I Have personally used it for years & I Have had plenty good memories in Ruchill park with my friends & Brilliant for my dogs at the time (AS LONG AS YOU PICK UP YOUR DOGS MESS)
M. B.
beautiful place for a daynout
R. A. F.
Nice family playing area, great for children.
R. M.
Ruchill park is in the middle off r u chill and you have to climb up are hill to get are good view off the city and it also has are football pitch and good swing at the top and bottom of the park and on are nice summer day you got the nice cut grass to site on and you have parking spaces
g. g.
Kept not bad grass could be doing with a cut, should think about AstroTurf be easier to maintain
N. B.
Very quiet and peaceful park.
B. L.
Lovely walks and play parks for younger ones.
C. M.
Great parkrun, has a couple of steep sections so by no means a easy 5k but very enjoyable.
P. M.
Great out door park for all who use it
L. B.
Parkrun - friendly, inclusive and well organised. Lovely park. Fine views over Glasgow and the hills give it character.
S. R.
It may be a little chaotic at first but there were plenty of cool and interesting things to do and learn. Just take your time and have a nice stroll in the museum
C. C.
Excellent area fr football etc, although really lacking in play frames, tennis/basketball court, we have NOTHING like that in Maryhill.
Ż. M.
Beautiful place, the best for a walk
R. M.
Very quiet place. Has an outdoor gym, basketball court and a running track. Many people walk their dogs there.
D.
A good park for some demanding jogging (it's on a hill) and a lovely view from the children's play area and flag pole.
J. A.
The frisbeegolf course is nice but challenging. The wind in Scotland makes it difficult. Load in with overstable discs as the wind is heavy
P. M.
Nice place to walk and basically chill by taking in view...
R. P.
Lovely place for a walk.
P. M.
Great for running, sunbathing, drinking, Still Game sabaticals, gang fights, playing on swings and walking your dog
A. V. A.
I love going there either to do running or walking my dog
S. M.
You have to park on the street. This is quite a hilly park, only a small section is on the flat! There are no toilets either!
T. S. E.
Great Park but badly let down by GCC feeling a bit run down but has amazing views of the city
P. T.

The place to be
B. O.
(Translated) Located on one of the highest hills in Glasgow (Mary Hill). A picturesque place, an excellent asphalt path for walking and cycling, significant ascents, will have to make efforts to reach the top. From the top, you can enjoy the view of the city. Flora, quite diverse, especially beautiful in late spring. From the fauna you can find deer and squirrels. There are playgrounds for sports and entertainment for children in the form of a carousel and a swing.
There is no lighting in the dark and a lot of garbage.
