Reviews of Springburn Park
z.
Really a hidden gem of the Glasgow parks. Lots of wide open spaces for dogs to play and families to have picnics.
The pond and boating lake are well established with plenty of bird life.
A. G.
A visit to the Springburn Auditorium, next to the Men's Shed. A great facility with all the fittings being made from Pianos!!!
E. H.
Fairly large park. Doesn't tend to be busy even during nice weather and there are dedicated play areas for kids so the rest of the park is pretty peaceful. The park boasts an excellent Spring flower display March through May, which is wonderful if you are a fan of daffodils! The park is also home to a handful of wild birds, including ducks, a family of swans and a grumpy heron who I have seen most visits through Spring and Summer.
L. D.
It's an enormous park, full of nature surroundings. Lake of ducks and swans.
Pitches for sports.A wee play area for kids.
Good for cycling and dog walk.
R. T.
Surprisingly great park for a good walk or wirh the dog. There is 3 ponds in the park with loads of wildlife. Great for the kids if they want to feed the ducks.
There is an abandoned building in the park that the used to be the largest glasshouse in scatland. Also there is a few sculptures and monuments about the part too.
C. S.
Lots of greenery and wildlife to be seen with a good variety. It’s usually quiet so it’s nice and peaceful. Children’s play area has been left to rot, this needs sorted, poor weans!
C. S.
Brilliant for walking and seeing ducks, heron, moorhens and coots
E. W.
Nice park for a quiet walk although a bit neglected in places. The pond has ducks, swans who are happy to be fed. Dog friendly
L. B.
I cannot believe I have not been here before. Lived nearby for nearly 40 years. Lovely place for a socially distanced walk with a friend. Baby swans and coots at the pond.
T. B.
Nice park for a relaxing walk with the missus, Ot would be great to have the old winter gardens renovated and lit up at night.
J. S.
Nice to walk round. Lots of lets-exercise-in-the-park kinda people at the weekend, lots of Lycra. Pond/Loch is nice. The memorial garden is sad but also worth visiting.
G.
Great place to take the kids for a walk or a play in the park and even the dog too!
K. K.
Great place for walking my dog. Very popular with other dog walkers too. Kids play area well kept. A few ponds with ducks, swans etc. Squirrels can be seen regularly in the wooded tree areas. Bowling green, football pitch & Frisby golf also available.
N. G.
Park unfortunately has lots of litter, the swan pond is looking a bit run down and the children's park is basic but the kids had a great time in it. Unfortunately some glass at the kids park too. However it is a great sized park and lots of grassy areas for the kids and dog to run around on
i. t.
Could do with a bit of a tidy up, nice place for a walk with the dog, think all parks are a bit neglected these days. Has three ponds, the largest pond is where the swans and ducks are and where they breed,it also has a large walk all around. Has two resident swans which have had five signet,s for the last few years, last year only three survived, Don t know what happened to the other two but there are five this year.
J. O.
It was quiet, swing park empty, mostly a few people walking their dogs, we went to feed the ducks, it was very cold day.
J. T.
Well maintained grass areas. Play area looks quite substantial. Used by walking groups, school pupils and groups of dog walkers.
A. P.
The disc golf course is brilliant. Free to the public and maintained by Glasgow Disc Golf Club. Great park for a walk, play ground for the kids. Always plenty of ducks and swans in the duck pond.
R. Y.
Excellent Glasgow Park which deserves more funding from Glasgow City Council
D. H.
Visited to watch this parkrun. Expertly well run and very friendly volunteers
J. M.
Beautiful Park. The Council really need to put more effort in the upkeep of the park 💙
A. M.
Has been busier last few weeks.. some of the paths are terrible with muck.. that being said it’s outside and in nature in middle of Glasgow so enjoy it wae a pair of boots
S. N. D.
Great park but needs improvement in certain areas.
S. G.
Lovely this time of the morning (7.30) not busy at all which suits me. Grounds and paths clear of litter. A few careless dog owners have ignored their dog's waste 🤦♀️ that aside, a very pleasant walk around the inner circle of the park. Bird song and fresh air... Great motivator
t. o. d.
Nice for a walk but tiny play park for kids
И. И.
Lovely place with two small ponds and one bigger one. Nice and quiet perfect for a walk or just enjoying the weather.
P. D.
Great park. Beautiful to walk around. Lots of different parts to it and has a cafe on a Saturday and Sunday. Cash only
R. S.
10 years staying up and around barmulloch and it's the first time I have went a full walk around with the kids. Very peaceful and a nice walk
Update: still very nice and clean. Park run on at the weekend too for runners.
P. T.
Nice, but parts of it are a real dump.
q. a.
Hidden gem. I stay locally and love regular walks there. The odd group of neds with nothing else to do with their sad life but drink in a park and smash bottles on the ground don't compare to the number of decent people that use it respectfully.
G. P.
Nice friendly, helpful staff, quick courteous and good service but the over priced drinks might inhibit return, inside seams clean tidy and generally very well presented but outside is a bit shabby. Just a shame that the same drink in a pub in Torrance a twenty minute walk away is £3 and stables charge £5.35. The joys of free trade capitalism, lol.
A. W.
Lots of lovely walks, wildlife, trees, swans, duck, birds and even a heron. Only problem is no public toilets so can't stay long. A pity!
S. S.
Great area for picnics and for playing outdoor games with friends. There is a basketball and football ground too, as well as a play park. The only thing is that there are no toilets that I know of here. But the other things outweigh that con.
R. M.
Great walk with the kids. Features 2 ponds with ducks, swans and many, many more birds and wildlife.
There are lots of little hidden areas to play games with the kids..
Swing park is in decent state of repair compared to others in the area.
D. M.
I love this park and now live close by but feel it's a terrible shame it's not being maintained properly. It's a very well used park by runners people walking to work in the hospital and dogs and their owners and small children in the play areas. I often used to go in ( before my dog died) and the bins would be overflowing. The rubbish up at th back pond areas is disgraceful, the poor wildlife. Hope it improves soon.
C. M.
I used to stay in this area as a child and loved the park. The park has a lot of great changes for the kids. I cannot believe how well it is looked after. I took my dog there and she loved it it was freedom for her. Just just ran and ran. The other dog owners were friendly every one had pooh bags in
w. g.
just a good wee park to take your kids or the dogs, kept quite tidy and nice place for a walk.
J. C.
It's ok for a short visit with the kids for such a big park there isn't much for kids to play on could be better but good for a quick half an hour before you go home
R. B.
A nice public space, shame the winter garden is in ruins
J. C.
Local park, ducks, trees , footy pitch etc....
Nice nature walk round stobhill end
J. S.
Hi it's a wonderful park, wild bird's swans ducks Moore hens and other's it's really nice to feed with seeds wholemeal bread nuts for the squirrels, Plenty of space n paths well kept grounds.feel free to visit and swings for the children. 😀
D. H.
Nice park but showing extreme signs of neglect. First the glass house, then the bowling green and now the pond.
Real shame and another fail for the Council
B. B.
Been visiting the park since the early seventies when my dad would take me and my brother and sister out on the boating pond. Sadly dad is gone these past twenty years but I still visit the park as often as possible and although not what it was back then is still a great place for a family to enjoy.
R. W.
This park used to have lots of lovely plants and shrubs, now it is in disrepair. The grass is long and the garden of remembrance is embarrassing with the state it's in and looks totally neglected. Lots of local people have benches and planted shrubs in remembrance of there loved ones and found peace in doing this but with the total neglect is heartbreaking to see.
J. M.
The park is handy if you want to go for a quiet walk during the day. Peaceful watching the ducks and swans on the main pond. Not so quiet later on. The rockery is the main haunt for groups of teenagers or older meeting to drink. Not what you want to be confronted by.
J. N.
A great park, with many small lochs - "ponds", if you will. The giant glass house desperately needs, well, glass.
g. b.
Beautiful day..lovely park land.. peaceful tranquil setting. A lovely place to get away from it all in town💙😁🏃♂️👍🏴
N. V.
Very peaceful, Clean and Green
Great for walks and light workout.
Good children's play area as well
M.
Lovely and tranquil green space with three ponds, a rockery, a playpark and sports facilities. As nice as it is, I feel Springburn Park has more potential still. Namely, the derelict winter gardens is such a waste. Also the highest point in Glasgow.
s. d.
One of my favourite places to go when I was young but today it's a wee bit run down. Still a nice place to clear your head wondering round its three ponds.
L. A.
Great Park bit overgrown in places but good walking round shame hot house not restored. Some days alot of neds.
M. F.
Still a good wee park - there is a swing park, rockery, 3 ponds and lovely walks. It's not as pretty as say the Botanics, and there is some litter but it's still a worthwhile park to visit. If you do go along please help out the Friends of Springburn Park (they're on Facebook) and pick up any litter you see. They are also trying to regenerate the glasshouse so please give them a like!
O. D.
Nice place to be close to nature and have a quiet time if that is what you fancy. You could use it for a bit of exercises like walking or jugging, bowling and others.
You have pond as well as water fountain. Really cool.
G.
I give this a rating of OK because I grew up next to the Park and this was like my back garden up until I was 12. The park has been in decline over the past 30 years or so and although some effort has been made in recent years to spruce it up a bit, Vandalism of the play areas and the continuing decline of the Winter Gardens makes me sad when I remember growing up there. The pitch and put is long gone, there are no more boats in the boating pond and the Tennis courts have been replaced with a Basketball court. The Park also has an AstroTurf Pitch which can be booked. There has been a Disc Golf course erected around the Park which has sparked some renewed interest and my local Scout group the 36th Glasgow has been using the Park as a base for activities due to not being able to obtain a School booking because of the Pandemic. My old Scout Master Ronnie Gray still lives in the big house in the Park and has been an inspiration to hundreds of kids who have grown up in Glasgow, many of us returning with our own kids, he has been a true mentor to so many. He's my Mr. Miagi 😀. The Park is one of those places that will truly be missed if we ever lose it and is taken for granted by so many. Let's us hope that the land is never sold to build houses on.
H. C.
It's beautiful. A place of real history. Do the heritage walk. Spend some time there. Get involved. Check out Friends of Springburn Park. Just visited the bowling greens. 3 greens and a lovely club house. Free lawn bowling to all too. Open till 11pm during the week and 5pm at the weekend. Give it a go!
C. C.
Nice walk, although would like to see better maintenance of buildings and restoration of the glass house
D. M.
Springburn Park is a magical place for our families to enjoy 💯 would be nice if the powers that be would free up cash to be spent on it. Long overdue in my humble opinion.
T. G.
It's a great wee park, love walking round the ponds and wee memorial garden. Really wish they would make the kiddies play park a lot bigger, and seeing the old glass hse lying derelict is such a shame
A. H.
Up there to create memorial space for my late mother and uncle, nice peaceful little spot to sit and remember the good times we shared with them ❤
V. M.
Fab wee park tucked away up the hill, wood area, duck pond, pitches, field, old green house & great kids play park! Pram friendly and great for dogs too!
g.
It's a beautiful park wish the old Victorian cast iron winter gardens where restored to it's former Glory
C. A.
A lovely walk down memory lane with younger sister and Tommy but sad to see how empty it was and sad to see the huge glass house left to rotten irn rusting away. Many great memories with all neighbouring friends going up here during school holidays. Cx
H. C.
I love this park but it can be too quiet. Go into the Friends of Springburn Park and help support them to bring this park to the wee gem it used to be. It's still beautiful. Plenty to do. Go see.
G. M.
I was there for the disc golf course, which is great and free to play. Great park though, well maintained and a variety of facilities and habitats.
M. H.
Lots of open space, a good play area, the old greenhouse is cool.
A. M.
Great meeting place central for all local bus and train services into the city centre and beyond. Health Centre nearby and Sports Centre. Taxi rank. All this and to top it all off it's a great place to shop
G. W.

E. P. (.

Z. A.
It is a serene place to be. I saw alot of people waking their dogs. For those who love the sight the sight of dogs, it will be a good place to be.
D. W.
I have many good memories from here while growing up when you could hire a boat play putting and l remember the mini motorboat club on a Sunday that magic petrol smell maybe that's how l ended up daft, all the fumes.memories.
D. W.
A nice park lots of paths. unfortunately lots of irresponsible people either driving in the park or leaving their dogs mess on footpaths.
G. W.
Great park for a stroll , small kids play area , ie climbing frame, swings, etc.Great for walking the dog too .
H. L.
A great park for walking/running...small swing/play area for children.....the park is in an ongoing regeneration programme....it will be lovely to see the park back to it's original splendour 😊
F. M.
The new disc golf course is fantastic, only 2nd to Ruchill Park. Both courses are amazing. Loving the green spaces in the city!
C. M.
