Reviews of Christchurch Park
d.
Ipswich main park for play/leisure and events, well maintained, there's also the mansion in the grounds which welcomes people in to view and see the history of the building, to one side is the art gallery which had a Gainsborough exhibition and collection plus information about the artist and his art. There is also a small tea room to the side of the building, I have used in the past but not in most recent visit. The arboretum is beautiful, that's the park area especially designed for tree's. Ipswich has this and many other park areas which all are worth visiting.

What a wonderful and unexpected find! We came to Ipswich for a weekend staycation in the area. Was an unexpected visit and in search of some nice walks and culture we found this lovely park, which to our surprise had the most amazing mansion turned museum right in the middle of it. And free to enter too! Would happily of paid! Made a wet and windy visit a great one! Lots of great art and history on show and all well laid out and presented. Safe and clean with great information and history for the curious minds. Brilliant place.

Lovely day out any time of the year. Or, of you're in town is great just to take a walk through, have a picnic or visit the cafe and museum! Lots to see and do. The wildlife and flora is also great to see and the gardens are always well kept.
A. J.
A great Park for a leisurely walk. Nice wide paths, lots of open space for the dog or the kids to run. Plenty of trees, plants and points to interest especially the lake.
S.
A beautiful park that has a manor house now a museum. Free entry. Really well preserved well worth a visit. The council however ought to put more effort into the upkeep of the paths. There seemed to be lots of staff running around in vans but the paths were grossly overgrown in the areas by the lake areas. So much the generous paths were single file with nettles and brambles.
C. “. S.
Beautiful park, many different lawns to wander round. Some lovely features, plus the beauty of many species of wildlife that live or visit the park.
J.
Absolutely love this park, it's very hilly though so be prepared for a workout. Lovely newly renovated play area, tennis courts, pond, coffee shop, memorials, squirrels that will take nuts from your hand and if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of Mabel the owl in her tree.
Christchurch mansion is located within the park too.
This park hosts many events such as music, festivals and fireworks.
You can park on side roads but be aware quite a few need a permit.
J. W.
Spring time is a lovely time to visit, see the blossom trees and grab an ice cream.
S.
I've always enjoyed Christchurch Park, its a beautiful historic park and obviously has the mansion too. The park itself does seem to have gone downhill a little though, saw multiple rats and the duck pond was just filled with seagulls on my recent visit. Hoping that it was just the season and in the summer it'll be a bit brighter.
D.
A superb park and estate that caters to all, right in the heart of Ipswich!
The mansion is a beautiful building and museum with a great heritage and lovely staff. The grounds are completely accessible and are a perfect mixture of people spaces and quiet paths.
There are two ponds teaming with bird life (bird food available at the mansion shop), amazing paths through wildlife-filled woodlands and a big children's playground, adequately hidden away and sound-dampened! There are also two tennis courts, hidden among trees on the west side.
Pathways are mostly paved or well beaten and there are large grass fields toward the back of the park, with ample space for more sports, dog walking/training or a cheeky little picnic.
Overall a beautiful place, one that I find myself visiting almost every weekend.
A. W.
Lovely park to walk round, great kids play area & plenty of wildlife to see.
k. a.
Beautiful park! Unfortunately however while sitting in said park drinking my coffee my guts started to play up, so made a quick dash for the public loo's, lucky enough the cubical was free, so rushed in, did my thing then was confronted by the horrors of all horrors, no loo roll! Lucky enough I had a book with me, Louis Theroux's aptly titled TV memoir "Gotta Get Threroux This", I skipped to the last few pages, mainly full of thank you's and copyright malarkey, ripped away what was needed for the job leaving the final page untouched, so I can still read the ending! Happy days, so all in all not a bad experience, but please next time park rangers, make sure there's loo roll in the loos! Louis isn't going to be there to get me Theroux everytime.
J. W.
Beautiful park in the heart of Ipswich. Tranquil, spacious, and well-maintained. Shame dogs should be on the lead in parts.
Lovely setting if you like tennis, with five decent courts nestled in amongst the trees in the arboretum.
M. P.
Right in the heart of Ipswich set in a huge parkland and enclosing Christchurch Mansion/museum. Stunning views and local history all in one beautiful location. With the pond area and a children's playground the perfect place for a family break, a stroll maybe a picnic or family get together.
s. b.
As a disabled walker it was nice to be able to walk at my pace around the exhibits and rooms. Although no lift to the second floor (which can't be expected for such an old property) I found the stairs easy enough with my walking stick and the large handrails. It did help having my husband with me all the way. Staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable and greetings and best way round this beautiful house were much appreciated. I haven't visited for years and yet still had a most enjoyable experience. Must keep this mansion going at all costs for future generations. We'll done! Sheridan
L. P.
Expansive but well kept park just north of the Ipswich Town Centre. Many events are hosted at the park, and there is always the subtle tweets of birds.
Tennis courts, Public Toilets and A Child's play area make this a park for everyone.
A. A.
This park is awesome. There’s so much to see. Bird reserve, wilderness pond, a cenotaph, children’s play area, loads of room to walk around. Several toilets to use, cycling path, butterfly garden. The picture is Mabel’s Tree. Mabel the owl lived in the tree for a long time and the lovely little statue is in honour of her.
T. W.
Really nice place to go feed the ducks and spend sometime outside, my little girl loves the massive playground here!
R. T.
Lovely place to go with the family, loads of space for dog walks or family party and play.
Kids park is moden and good, museum is a great bit of history and a cafe to the side.
Needs more toilet around the park and the toilet that are there need to be revamped.
R. P.
Great play area for the kids and quite large and loads of variety.
Public toilets available and decent, also ice cream shop close to the play area.
Beautiful old trees and footpaths.
S. L.
Me and my friend took our grandsons here. We had a great time. They made more friends on the play area, played football then we went for a well deserved cuppa at the kiosk which also sells ice creams and snacks.
A. W.
Great Place to be in the Sun, big open areas, trees and wooded area and play areas. also there are icecreams sold from the park so you can spend the day there. Also parking in some places around the park is free but the other side (closer to the town centre) is pay and display
E. N.
Beautiful park, with so much to do and a beautiful mansion
P. C.
I love this park very well maintained beautiful and and relaxing to walk around. However, the circular pond could be better maintained, too many weeds inside.
K. G.
At the current moment, if you wish to be able to walk without many people around, go early in the morning or evening (check opening and closing times). The playground is having a massive overhaul, so it's fence off, and unfortunately you can't get to the wilderness pond, but my children still had fun walking around the grounds, listening to the birds, and trying to spot Mabel, and the ducks. From mid morning, the park is obviously very busy. But, it's still lovely to walk around the park and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere
J. H.
This was the first time we had walked in this park and it was a really pleasant experience. There was a variety of waterfowl some of which we hadn't seen before namely the colourful Mandarin ducks. As is now usual, on inland lakes and ponds, there were lots of gulls vying for the food left by visitors. There were plenty of footpaths allowing you to explore the wide selection of trees and foliage without getting your shoes muddy. After so much rain that was an added bonus.
Without a doubt we will be returning when the greenery returns after the winter has been replaced by spring.
P. P.
A beautiful and historic town centre park in great condition and with good facilities (children's playground, public toilets and 2 x snack bars) - recommended for a family picnic in good weather
N.
Popular, but there's room for everyone! Parking easy. When the snack bars are open it's even better! Great for dog walking, general strolling, sitting and relaxing or chatting - and a refurbished play area for the children. A gem within Ipswich!
D. T.
Nice big park, lovely play area and ponds with diffrent wild life. Very good for a walk, there is a lot of hills.
C. G.
Had a lovely afternoon with my Granddaughter play area is great walked round to one of the ponds them all finished off with an ice cream under the shade of one of many trees.
C. R.
Beautiful park, full of history with the mansion aswell, great place to picnic, ice cream and refreshments available children's play area and tennis courts.ir just chill out.
R. J. B.
Marvellous place. Probably the largest park in Ipswich.Has a duck pond and Arboretum. Hollywells park also very large and nice.
K. A.
Attended musical festival on Sunday...fab ..as there was plenty of music all around for everyone's taste. Massive park right in the heart of ipswich. Loved the atmosphere though too crowded. Lush green and so many trails to walk . Really good size children play area to accommodate everyone of all age groups.
D. S.
This is a place you must go when in Ipswich. The ground of the mansion in itself is beautiful especially on a sunny day but the mansion itself is very rich in culture and very well decorated. It’s well worth your times. The set ups of the soothing and furniture really makes you imagine what it was like so long ago. There’s even a little cafe in there that I had no idea was in there. You can honestly make a day out this place.
L. D.
Lovely walks with some of the most attractive scenery around. Ice cream is available which is always a bonus as well as a children's park. Great place to go if you want a picnic or just a a nice day out. Would recommend to anyone interested
M.
Great park just a few minutes walk from.the town. Well cared for park ...peaceful and calming. Good to see so.many families if all ages enjoying their time their. Stunning in the autumn sunshine
P. F.
The local park to ipswich town centre offers various attractions for all the family from free table tennis to forest walks, heck even an Ed Sheeran museum! Be on the look out for two ponds (you cant miss them) nice to see the fountain working in the main one. The kids park looks great offering alot for the kids to do, this park is also great for dog walking and running, you can find a park run here every Saturday morning. If you are planning to fly a drone here think again, its band. Posting 4 star because of drunks that can be found in the public areas.
C. O.
Christchurch Park is a very large and clean park, with lots of activities like ponds with ducks and squirrels to feed, the Christchurch mansion, play areas for children as well as a shop where you can buy refreshments, a very pleasant experience. Many people obey the rules and keep their dogs on leashes, however, a lot of people don't which is just something to be aware of. The park has facilities like toilets as well
a. f.
My favourite part in Ipswich. Varied wild life and flora and fauna mixed with old buildings Is a nice environment to walk through or to stop and enjoy. The free tennis courts are great to use once the lockdown lifts.
G. M.
Beautiful park. Unfortunately I got locked in and being disabled it was rather awkward climbing over the railings. Shouldn't be locked at night.
M. M.
Whether you're looking to just walk the dog or have a picnic with the family, Christchurch Park is a lovely place to be. A selection of ice creams and refreshments available in the summer aswell as toilets and a great play area for the children! Worth a visit
D. L.
I adore this park. With its great arboretum with the variety of different trees named with a plaque makes the while experience of strolling through interesting aswell as pleasant. A beautiful park with history embeded throughout, with which you can knowledge yourself at the information centre. With Christchurch Manor House which is open daily to the public.. Amazing everything about this park 😁 well worth a visit to say the least. 👍
**NOT FORGETTING THE DELIGHTFUL TEAROOMS ADJACENT TO THE MANOR HOUSE THAT SERVE A GOOD SELECTION OF CAKE & A DAILY SOUP..** 😋
🌳🌳🌳🌳💖🌳🌳🌳🌳

Beautiful peaceful park.. One of the best I've been to.. Lucky for those that live here!
J. B.
Joined the Indian mela in July 2022. The atmosphere was superb 👌 A huge thank you to all the organisers, performers, volunteers and authorities and everyone who attended to make it memorable 😀
B. P.
Lovely museum… great with children. Something to do on the rainy, cooler day :)
C. M. W.
A large park on the edge of Ipswich town centre, with plenty of green space and bench seating.
It also features a small cafe, a fountain, and a mansion.
And squirrels.
B.
A beautiful and mature park with plenty of activities for all ages.
Parking in the side streets or main carparks in town can be costly and or time limiting, but this is a minor detail for such a lovely park.
J. A.
A lovely park for a walk. Fenced off play area for kids. Tea room and an old mansion to look around and purchase gifts. A great day out.
The geese, ducks, and squirrels will eat from your hand. There is a centre near the ponds to purchase duck food for just £1 a bag.
Events throughout school holidays at the park including outdoor cinema, live music events and fair rides.
A. B.
It is not crowdy and there is a car park area. Proper children play area exists and family and friend can spend good day out at summer time.
A. C.
Nice parks, a few ponds. Loads of squirrels
O. T.
Tidy area with beautiful nature, numerous squirrels and blooming trees in May. Enjoy so much for walking with kid or simply having a rest.
d.
Big and spacious park. A lot of open spaces to sit down or play. There is a marked running path 2.5km around the park.
E. K.
Wonderful gardens and the mansion is beyond amazing! I only took photos of one room, but the rest was all just as excellent. Original paintings by Rembrandt, Gainsbourg etc. Out of this world.
m. d.
Very large and beautiful park in Ipswich contains mansion, play area, multiple ponds, free tennis courts.
E. K.
Really lovely park great space to walk around. Live visiting it.
c. c.
Beautiful place to walk and relax, peaceful and lots of things to do, have a cup of hot drink with a snack, play tennis or run, watch the birds...
C. G.
So much more than just a public park, duck ponds, tennis courts, hundreds of beautiful trees, two cafés, the mansion, a children's play area, War memorials etc
N. C.

L. C.
Beautiful park with a nice playground area, coffee shop inside the Mansion with a terrase with vue over the pond.
S. B.
Kids playground is lovely with lots of new experiences ❤️ 💕 The park is really big and good for a walk, picnic, play
C. G.
So nice its so relaxing also having park workers around was helpful
R. G.
New playground is much better then the old one. Shame doesn't have many shadows, but not sure would have been easy to do better... Looks much safer for kids and parents.
The bits showned in the picture doesn't make sense at all... Maybe they will get grass?
Overall, very good improvement!
M. E.
Great place to chill out and relax with the family or on your own! But can get very busy in the summer
F.
A lovely park, very well looked after. A great deal to explore, lots of wildlife and a very large play area for the kids.
A. W.
Always a good place to either escape the world under a tree listening to FIP RADIO or or a good walk all around the park from top to bottom. Often both.
M. G.
An excellent museum set in an urban park with the town war memorial in an impressive setting. This place really is the jewel of Ipswich and has been for years. The cafe is small but friendly with reasonably priced snacks. Allow yourself a couple of hours or more to visit; longer if yo want to see all The park.
P. D. (. w.
Beautiful park to spend your evening calm and clean
D. P.
Always loved walking round here kids had great time on park and flying there kites
j. D.
I don't like Ipswich very much but if there is something good about it, this park is one of them. It's well maintained, most of it is off lead for dogs except the gardens which are nice also. There is a tea room that's absolutely brilliant and totally recommend it. The chocolate orange cake..oh wow, brilliant guys, delicious.
N.
Christchurch Park is a historical area of rolling lawns, wooded areas, and delicately created arboreta close to the town centre in Ipswich, Suffolk. The park hosts various facilities such as a children's play area, tennis courts, table tennis, bowling greens and outdoor gym equipment and overall a very nice place visit on a day off with a pint of a cold drink.
h. h.
One of best parks in Ipswich
Lakes
Walks
Amazing plans, flowers in summer
S. W.
Well kept, saw lots of wildlife. Great place to walk the dog or take the family to blow off some steam!
R. M.
A fantastic park in the centre of Ipswich, the ducks and geese and friendly, and the squirrels are a little over friendly for some.
Unfortunately the smaller pond next to the mansion seems to have a lot of litter in which isnt nice at all.
The play areas and popular and very well maintained. A great place to visit for a family day out, or just a peaceful walk.
A. C.
Beautiful park. Very well kept.
P. P.
Large enough to find areas that are quiet. With a strong water presence and path through the trees some areas look quite wild.
There are also some recreational playgrounds and tennis courts.
A. U.
Great area in the middle of town - space for everyone - great size play area for kids
G. A.
Cracking park with many routes and duck pond. Also plenty of areas to let dogs off lead. Visited a couple of times and always had a relaxing walk.
D. K.
A lovely traditional parks, well worth a visit and dog friendly.
R. D.
Visited for fireworks and really enjoyed it. It was pretty easy to get through the ticket area. It was very packed so I couldn't go on any of the amusement rides unfortunately and had already eaten. But the fireworks show was good. The theme wasn't as solid as previous years (my faves are still Queen and James Bond years) so I'd probably say come back with a stronger theme next year.
T. H.
Beautiful park. Always kept tidy. Very friendly squirrels.
J.
This park is just awesome in every way.
We love feeding the squirrels the most, they are so tame.
Great play area for kids, tennis courts,, lovely place to buy a coffee and go for a walk or picnic.
R. D.
One of the large park in Ipswich. Plenty of green for picnic. Lovely pond with ducks. Children play area. Tennis court, Table tennis. A place for family day out.

M. S.
Great place for a walk, wasn't to busy so ideal to socially distance
Very tidy and peaceful
P. W.
One of Ipswich's wonderful parks, which was enhanced by the vehicles, assembled for the annual Ipswich to Felixstowe Historic Run.
J.
Absolutely beautiful park, great for everyone 👍
R. K.
So peaceful listening to the birds and watching the ducks. Lovely cup of tea from the tea room 👌 😍
A. P.
This is a great place to go with family. Finally saw the park owl which was unfortunately scared off by a couple of muppets with a drone. My kids love the new play area.
V. M.
A very big and very nice park! It also has an old house/museum you can visit.
A. N.
The park is amazing. Especially for photography enthusiasts.

K. K.
Astonishing place with thriving wildlife and picturesque scenery. Well done.
V. C.
Brilliant space, lovely coffee, tea and cakes, sandwiches and ice cream. The park is so peaceful and full of fantastic birds and wildlife. Two ponds full of various water birds, ducks , geese and a cormerant.
It's large and has a great mixture of arranged florna and natural spaces to. Toilets and visitor centre. Tennis courts, memorials, statues and a Fabulous childrens playground. The woodland path is wonderful. Don't feed the ducks bread it causes algae Inthe water. You can buy duck food from the large wooden grey building at the Woolpack pub entrance, building is inside park.
M. W. C.
An excellent park well maintained by Ipswich Borough Council. We visited during a music event in July. There are many events throughout the year in this well manicured and busy park.
V. C.
Over grown wilderness area hard to get a pushchair or mobility scooter though
A. B. A.
Lovely park. Friendly gardeners. Only down side is the rubbish left by visitors despite there being plenty of bins.
J. B.
Huge clean park. Plenty to do, ideal for a picnic.
T. P.
Its really nice park plenty of space some lovely trees eg really old oak at least 100yrs, elm, ash, fir and many. Of course there is the mansion the war memorial, there is a small snack bar with really friendly helpful staff outdoor seating in a courtyard, plenty of ice cream stalls for the kids and adults if its a hot day like yesterday. Well worth a visit and a walk round.
S. P.
Beautiful Park with lots of different areas. Great for dog walking and families. Extensive play park.
A. T. M.
My favourite park.
A must see if you are visiting Ipswich.
N. B.
Great Jazz festival, organised and had a variety of food to buy.
S. S.
Another gorgeous green space in central Ipswich. Home of Christchurch Mansion museum and art gallery, ponds, arboretum and play area
S. C.
Lovely park in the centre of Ipswich. Quite hilly in places. Good playparks for smaller children.
D. C.
Nice to see all the wildlife and a well looked after park
P. J.
Clean cared for park. An excellent two days of music.
S. O.
Fireworks display at Christchurch Park
Excellent display, unfortunately despite being on my new mobility scooter & at the top of the slope I couldn't see the low fireworks, Roman candles etc., very well.
Big crowd, there may have been facilities for disabled but I didn't check beforehand. My bad
Good party band 'Soul Kitchen' played on the stage after the fireworks finished.
Bar, food, small funfair were the extra attractions as well as a team of entrepreneurs selling bright lit hand held fun things for the kiddies
My youngest daughter in 2 of the photos with me in the bottom picture. That is a neat little photo trick provided by my Nokia. She's not a little girl, it was my grandson we went for really, his first fireworks, I think he liked them & didn't have a problem with the noise.
Left Tich at home obviously. She hasn't been bothered by fireworks going off near home buying think this would have been too much.
Good night generally so well done Ipswich Council who put it on.
Will make a trip to the park in daytime soon, now I know I can get there & back on the scooter. That will let me give a more useful review of the park generally
Christchurch Park at night
D. A.
Peaceful and quiet, apart from the hordes of kids! Nice museum, which is free!
a. s.
Nice big park but needs pond maintenance .
G. B.
Nice place to spend time with a family and kids love the play area
H. S.
Loads of space to view the fine old trees and it's great that new trees are being added, a park moving forward. The mansion well worth a visit. Tea shop was excellent.
F. A.
Lovely place, bit busy in lockdown but still a nice bit if excise.
J. K.
A superb park well managed in all aspects.
Superb Christchurch Mansion history by the bucket loads.
C. L.
Fantastic park, lots of open space, and play areas for children, complete with woodland walk, hobbit cottage and duck pond - fantastic gem just a short stroll away from Ipswich High St.
G. F. S.
Beautiful enormous park in the middle of the city centre 😍honestly it never gets old with the lakes, fountains and ancient trees 🌳not to mention the Beautiful estately home Christchurch House. Enjoy a good coffee after viewing the house in the quaint little tea rooms ❤
C. G.
Good range of ponds, grass, woods, rough grassland and some impressive old parkland trees. Wheelchair friendly (for pushing) to a point, but quite hilly above the ponds; suggest planning your route if you don't feel strong or doubt the brakes. Topography gives good vistas and secluded spots and only as much tarmac as needed. Also coffee, ice cream and the Ed Sheeran experience - what's not to 😍?
R. D.
Never two visits are the same. Today we watched a squirrel dig up an acorn and eat it. So lucky to have such wonderful parks.
G. C.
A lovely park to sit in on a nice warm sunny day
G. E.
Lovely park in the centre of Ipswich. Reminds me of a tiny Greenwich Park, London.
Tea rooms with outside tables in a lovely courtyard. Ice-cream kiosk, serving drinks. Lovely duck pond with beautiful fountain.
Amazing children's playground.
D. C.
Best spot in Ipswich for walking, meeting, events, museum etc
M. T.
Beautiful walk. Lota to do and see. Perfect for a dog walk.
R. B.
An INCREDIBLY nice park, in the center of Ipswich. At certain points you forget that beyond the park is the town center! Lovely to walk through during autumn!
C. B.
Good place to hang out. For a date i reccomend the tree on the hill, but for hanging out with friends, there's a small spot between the play-gym and tennis courts.
k. B.
Fantastic park with lots to see and enjoy.
Definitely worth a visit and on a sunny day you can spend hours here.
Lots of event days too.
M. B.
A lovely park with nice jogging tracks and woods. Perfect to spend summer evenings.
T. S.
Indian mela was pretty cool, refreshments everything was fine...
K. P.
Love this park so nice on a sunny day.
H. N.
Beautiful garden. Fantastic for a relaxing walks
K. B.
A beautiful park in the heart of Ipswich, the location of Christchurch Mansion which includes the largest collection of paintings by John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough outside of London.
N. B. M.
Ipswich should be so proud of this beautiful park in its centre.
There is parking on Fonnereau Road (ticket machines) and access is easy and varied (all round the park perimeter.
There's clean, warm loos (we went today, cold crisp November morning)
The park is patrolled regularly and there is a fantastic modern enclosed play area that our granddaughter loved.
There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere about Christchurch Park, always has been.
There's a duck pond and a kiosk serving drinks/snacks.
Be proud 'Ipswichians', as this place is very special ❤️
F. S.
Amazing open space for a walk, relax, practice sports, family, friends,...
D. H.
A lovely walk and an overall pleasant experience! Would always recommend! ❤

Quite close to the town centre, Christchurch Park is an oasis of calmness that is most welcome when you feel the need for a little walk. There are toilets there, an ice cream shop, a fountain, ping pong tables, a play ground for kids, an exhibition place....it's quiet, clean and friendly.
a. c.
excelent
A. L.
Really nice park and it's full of hidden surprises in every corner. From a sensory garden and hills to woodland and ponds. This park is massive and a great day out for family
s. h.

Beautiful park very well kept perfect for walking and taking in the views
M. R.
Best park in Ipswich!! Great fun for the whole family
D. W.
Lovely park, lots of space
B. B.
A lovely walking experience during lockdown today. Much larger than I thought . Takeaway hot chocolate and cake, both excellent plus spotlessly clean toilets inside Visitor Centre, with a cleaning lady in attendance. Was in town for a medical appointment and our walk in park lifted our spirits. Highly recommended.
K. P.
Really lovely park. Lots of great fun equipment. Also looks like a beautiful park to walk around with lots of paved walkways. It was our first time today and we will definitely be back.
P. B.
Brilliant. Well kept park. My pup loved it ❤ No dog mess anywhere I only wish all parks were the same but unfortunately there are a lot of dog 🐕 owners that think others should pick up there mess 😢
T. J.
Lovely park for dog walking.
W. G.
Lovely place and the house very interesting
R. W.
Lovely clean park.... And lovely areas to explore
C. H.
Lovely park for all the family
g. h.
Lovely spacious park in the middle of town. Once through the gates you would think you're in the country. Plenty to do. Duck pond kiddies recreation area ice cream and drink facilities toilets and plenty of space for picnics walking and exercising the dog.
d. m.
The most historic park in Ipswich with the mansion being used as a mueseum and acres of land to wander around not forgetting the beautiful gardens and wildlife areas it's my most favourite place to be in Ipswich plus they have a on site ice cream stall and don't forget to bring your monkey nuts aswell to feed the squirrels by hand a great thing for the kids to do, a alround good day for the family
J. F.
Many different environments and things to see from wildlife areas to ornamental gardens
M. B.
We love Christchurch Park, it's possibly the best thing about living in this area. Great, clean open space with tons of things like the Mansion, free tennis courts a selection of fitness equipment and great place to walk the dog! Also, organised events, like runs and music plus fireworks and festivals
J. B.
This is undoubtedly one of the best parks I've ever visited. Currently the flower beds are a wonderful burst of colour in contrast to the beautiful green trees of which many are hundreds of years old. There are ponds with ducks and geese, tennis courts, sweeping countryside for exercise, jogging, dog-walking and a soon to open new children's play area. The Christchurch Mansion is now open; ice creams on sale and covid safe toilets manned by staff. All this within minutes of the town centre. It's a great place to discover some peace in a less than peaceful world. Thank you Ipswich Council.
N. V.
It was an amazing trip. Nice place .
E. G.
Lovely big park with great play area several ponds wildlife area and a lovely reasonable cafe and mansion to explore x
D. G. G.
30 odd years coming to Ipswich/Woodbridge, and first time here.......what a lovely place....and the Mansion is a "must visit"......well done Ipswich!!
T. o.
Perfect place for a picnic on a sunny day. Free entry to house. Childrens area away from peaceful area.
J. S.
Brilliant park ,you must look for mabel the owl
M. G.
Lovely park to just walk round, feed the ducks, look around the mansion, tennis courts and children's play area. I have been going to this park since I was a small child, taken my own children.
P. P.
A beautiful park. Something for everyone.
A. J.
A lovely public park with lots of green space and varied vegetation. The arboretum is nice for a quiet walk and the main paths are great for people watching and feeling part of the local community. The children's play park looks excellent but sadly I am far too old to try it out.
J. W.
For any visitors to Ipswich, Christchurch Park should be at the top of your list!
The park is one of our biggest ones, it has beautiful scenery and makes a relaxing walk. Plenty of seats dotted about the park, lovely ponds as well.
As part of local history, Christchurch Park has the war monuments where you can see names of local men who died in battle during the war.
The mansion is worth a visit and it's full of history. The little food and drink shop at the side is expensive however.
Overall the experience is awesome!
P. O.
Peaceful calm and beautiful park.
I. B.
Lucky to have this on my doorstep
M. J.
A large, lovely and diverse park in the center of Ipswich. Every Sunday, the park has a Park Run for every age group just for the fun of it. The children's playground is fantastic. Lots of unusual equipment for all ages and skill building. The park is very old and has a variety of wonderc trees, some over 500 years old. On one side of the park is an education building with really interesting information about nature, the park and local history. Then there is the museum with both local artists and artifacts, as well as Gainsborough and Sargent painting, old toys, rooms set to different time periods, etc. in an old mansion. The laundry room is especially interesting and educational. And it is all free! There is also a coffee shop with small meals and ice cream cones. We went for an hour and stayed 5 hours. I highly recommend it.
C. A. M.
Closed after dark.
A nice big park for families, dog owners and people just striding out alone like me! The Aboretum on the west side is a hidden gem and has many empty benches for a quiet moment away from the crowd.
Mabel the Owl now has a descendant who is occupying the hole in her tree. The Round Pond is good for people watching.
B. L.
Great for a picnic and to let the kids run around. You can purchase a large bag of food to feed the ducks for £1. This normally does me and my family a few trips. There is a nice play area for children too with a variety of climbing frames and swings for a variety of ages
L. D.
Excellent "Kiss & Tell" Rodin Exhibition on at Christchurch Mansion at the moment.
K. B.
Always a pleasant place to visit, it has many contrasts from the walk around the periphery to the interesting and varied areas around the pond.
K. S.
I remember thinking every park I went to was better than the one before - but that trend stopped when I visited Christchurch for the first time. It might not be huge, but it is large, and it might not be neat and designed, but it is beautiful. It has the perfect combination of landscaped and wild, with a gorgeous Tudor-esque mansion set at the main entrance that's free to go inside! There's a lovely forest like nature reserve nestled in the parks centre, and swathes of grassy hills and fields dotted with mature trees and aging knobbly oaks. It's a little bit of heaven!
M. o.
A truly unique day out for all the family
M. B.
A very good large public park with all you need; quiet areas, games, cafe, tennis Petanque and more.
P. O.
Always walk through the gardens on way back from town, all uphill but good exercise and pleasant.
b. p.
Beautiful park. Well established trees, open spaces and well kept clean gardens.
You must visit whilst in the area.
N. F.
Lovely park and house right in the centre of town. Good for walking, kids and dogs. The Mansion house is worth a visit too and regularly holds exhibitions of national importance. Recently seen 'The Kiss' by Rodin and the Cardinal Wolsey exhibition. Tons of antiques to look at throughout if you are interested in that sort of thing.
M. B.
This is such a beautiful park with little surprise areas everywhere and gardens that rival any paid entry gardens except this is free. It's a wonderful place
J. M.
Very lovely clean park! Took our daughter she loved it!
S. W.
Beautiful park just a stones throw from the town centre.
The stunning Christchurch mansion is open as a museum, has visiting exhibitions and a take out cafe.
Ponds, a play area, a natural bowl called Hippy Hill, an arboretum, tennis courts and some recently installed outdoor gym equipment. Also, war memorials to the Boer war, WWI, WWII and more recent conflicts.
J. R.
It is a beautiful tranquil park, once inside its hard to believe it is in the middle of the town. We were there for photos of the married couple,a dreamy picturesque back drop for these memorable moments. We often walk through the park,so calming and welcoming.
A. S.
beutiful place.. peacful environment
B. P.
Best park in Ipswich. Plenty of activity choices. Clean. Loads of nature. Love it!
P. K.
Excellent show with the Pantaloons last night
K. A.
Beautiful park. Me and my wife take a walk round Christchurch most evenings. It's full of beautiful trees, ponds and wildlife. If your lucky enough you will see some terrapins hanging out in the duck pond. You should feel very proud of yourselves Ipswich!
S. D.
Nice big park right in the centre of Ipswich. Free Parking close to park entrances are difficult to find. Always enjoyed a walk here.
J. C.
Amazing park. Because views, picturesque building and an awesome play area for kids. This park also has many paths and trails so you'll never be bored. This park also holds alot of local events, and has even had some well know music artist perform here. There are acres of land to explore. With a few ponds(usually containing ducks) that's are great for pictures or just a nice leisurely stroll.
J. C.
A great place to come with friends or family. It's peaceful, beautiful, spacious and has multiple different feeling areas, from woodland with sunlit glades to open parkland and ponds. There's even play areas for children.
s. r.
We took my mum & sister to Christchurch park today for a picnic, which was such a day to remember. We would like to thank the lovely lady from the council who stood there sanitising the toilets from 11:00 until 5pm and stayed cheerful and polite throughout the day. Also many thanks to the park wardens for doing such a great job in testing times. My mum and sister enjoyed their first visit to Christchurch Park and will definitely return
P. P.
LOVE this park. Great for dogs to run around. The Cafe next to Christchurch Mansion in the park, is open virtually every day in the year and is FANTASTIC. It's being refurbished this week (22-25th Jan 18) so closed at the moment. Check out their baked potatoes with Coronation Chicken, absolutely delicious. The Cafe Staff are really lovely people too.
H. C.
Beautiful park in all weathers, lots of areas to explore, never get bored. Children's play area, two ponds, a forest walk, exercise equipment, wide open spaces, hills and much more!x
J. S.
Christchurch Mansion in the Christchurch Park is an amazing museum with free admission. The former private estate is now a beautiful public park with a mixture of wooded areas and open spaces. The park also has a children's adventure playground and free tennis courts and includes delightful wild foul ponds. Well worth a visit.
h.
Gorgeous park with all the facilities you need for a family day out. The refurbished childrens play park is excellent.
R. D.
Look out for Mabel the owl. She nests in this tree. Great park with lots of wildlife if you know where to look.
C. O.
The park is bouncing back to life following winter hibernation. The groundsmen have been busy tidying up the flower beds, the wildlife is full of energy and spring is definitely in the air.
U. G.
One of the nicer parks in the area, well maintained, suitable for picnic and long walks as well as often featuring community activities
S. L.
Beautiful park so many different directions and paths to take see something different every time you go
M. M.
Never disappointed when I walk around this park. Always a different path to take. Some beautiful trees and lots of lovely wildlife to see
E. L.
I've been here almost every week of my life and it's honestly one of my favourite places in Ipswich! Large sized park with lots of areas to explore as well as a play area and tennis courts. A great variety of plants and flowers, especially beautiful cherry blossom trees which bloom in the spring!
I. H.
Christchurch Park is the main public park in central Ipswich. It is very well maintained and is also the public venue for Ipswich music day, which is the largest free music festival in the UK. I love the park as it brings together the local community and is a wonderful resource for the whole town.
A. B.
We love going to this park. Lots of mature trees. A great place o take young children, there is a brilliant play area. Also lots of open spaces for children and dogs to run around.
K. A.
I took my daughter to the Fun Beach set up in the park. There were lots of childrens rides, a large sandpit with deckchairs around (for the adults), as well as food and drink concessions. The whole thing was well thought out and not expensive. I hope this is set up again next year, as it was definitely worth a visit. The park itself is lovely.
M. 7.
This park has so many things to do and there is something for everyone. Good walks, play equipment, mansions and more
J. S.

A lovely big park with an ponds, gardens and the historical Christchurch Mansion which was built on Tudor times.
S. A.
Great park. Lots to do. Tennis courts, ponds, lots of green and a good kids play area. Can't use bikes in the park. Park rangers in buggies need to be more careful and need better manners.
C. G.
Beautiful and well kept park. One of my favourite places to walk around or have a picnic on a sunny day.
N. G.
Ancient 🌳 trees, looking back in time.
C. A.
Lovely park, just a shame it's let down by a minority of individuals who don't respect it or other people 😔 - throwing litter around, kicking glass bottles, smoking in the play area.
f. g.
We took our grandson. Great day out .all this space. We have so much to be grateful for .keep our parks clean. We have all this space to explore. Make the most of it .
B. F.
Lovely autumn afternoon walk in the park. Well maintained and popular with families/dog walkers. Visited the mansion which is full of local history and funded by donations not high admission charges. Definitely recommended!
S. T.
Simply love Christchurch park. Such a wonderful place. I am fortunate enough to walk through it most days. I don't think I could ever get bored of it. Feel very lucky to have such an amazing place on our doorstep.
r. m.
Large, dog friendly park with so much to see/do. The mansion looks so interesting and free too! Duck pond, wildlife lake and rolling meadows. Very pretty!
L. A.
A huge park with plenty of shorter or longer routes. Wide open spaces perfect for families with bikes or ball games. A huge hill which is fab when it snows for sledging and is prime location to stand for the incredible firework display. There are several ponds and you can buy duck food from the visitor centres. Good, clean facitilites and the park cafe has a nice selection of treats.
E. H.
Good open space to walk and look at nature with the children. Kiosk was great for a well-earned ice-cream. Lots of benches for resting, and shady trees to sit under
M. R.
Lots of people use this place a loverly well layed out park the only bad side is the on road parking it's a bit pricey
E. H.
Beautiful place for a walk, a duck pond a mansion a park for the kids to play on. Have some great events here like music festivals in the summer. A war memorial. A lovely place to see a bit of nature in the centre of Ipswich. Friendly squirrels too. Lots of dog walkers, trees and a few hilly paths to walk up and down.
S. D.
Descent park with lots of standard park features. Just looks a lot better and larger in photographs. Just doesn't quite excel in any areas to give 5 stars
M. B.
Lovely park - lots of room to run around the trees. Old house to look around in park showing how life was in the past. Nice children's play ground and toilets and ice cream. Lots of seats scattered about.

P. A.
Such a wonderful park in the heart of Ipswich. Lots of convenient parking and plenty to enjoy all year round. Great play areas and good facilities..toilets, ice cream hut and cafe. P. K.
Beautiful park and really a blessing to have.
C. D.
Great place to relax and great for photography
R. B.
Really good park, lots to do and public toilets. Only problem is to use the hand dryer in the gents you've effectively got to put your hands in the bin below - very unhygienic.
P. S.

B. S.
A very pleasant park. We visited it during a sunny day which makes everything looks nice! The old house in the park is fascinating but we couldn't explore too much as there was a wedding taking place.
M. W.
Such a wonderful place in any year and at any time of the year, but in lockdown it's a blessing. Peace and quiet, nature, walks, beauty, coffee, and an owl! Perfect place for socially distanced company.
H. F.
Love this park. Squirrels and ducks to feed, great kiddies play area and park patrol regularly checking good behaviour and procedures followed. Beautiful park to visit.
T. t. o. t.
Christchurch park is a wonderful park, it's really big, good for walks or walking the dog or to bring the kids because there's a massive play area that is fenced of. There are public toilets and ice-cream place for in the summer, if it's cold or raining the ice-cream place isn't open. There is also the ever so famous Christchurch mansion. It is always open except for when the park closes and is not pay at the door (you don't pay at all).
G. M.
Another great park, the cafe serves enormous portions of chips. Play area is a bit tired due to lots if wear and tear but kids love it. Beautifully kept.
s. a.
Beautiful park, the grass, the ponds the ducks, with lots of squirrels😊😊

D. J.
A nice town park. Ponds, arboretum, tennis courts, kids play park, mansion, tea room and visitor centre all feature here. Kiosks with ice creams etc. in summer season. Some parts are a little tired now, but still well worth a visit for a nice walk and scenery
R. Z.

This is a great open space. Mansion to visit, duck ponds, playground, arboretum . An awful lot of rats around though .
A. R.
Really nice and friendly place for everyone
R. P.
I had forgotten just how big this park is. To be able to wander around and feel quite alone. Yet there is quite a lot going on, a nice children's playground and tennis courts being put to good use.
T. D.
This is a park very close to the centre of Ipswich. It is quite extensive with a variety of lakes and other features. It has a wide range of paths that are of good quality and relatively easy walking. It also has a large number are very friendly squirrels. Mostly it seem to be well-kept. The cafe in central building was good. I would say the park is one of the highlights of Ipswich.
K.
Beautiful park with plenty to see and great for families and dog walkers especially :)
J. C.
Great park. Big play area for children. Large spaces to run/walk and other activities you would want to do in a park. Also has the Mansion House and a visitor centre. Two large ponds too

C. G.
Best place in Ipswich for fireworks! The display this year was incredible and it only cost £6.50 each to get in. Great little good and drink kiosks, live music, fun things and experience scattered around. A great night out.
C. E.
A lovely park with interesting trees, wildlife areas and poignant memorial. Thre reason it's only a 3* is because I think all the footpaths need upgrading. Cafe in the park is great.
M. S.
A lovely park just off the town centre. Visitors centre with toilets (other toilets around the park), Christchurch Mansion museum/gallery (free admission), cafe, free tennis courts, signed 5km running circuit with exercise stations, formal arboretum with bandstand, woodland nature reserve.
I. F.
Only minutes from the town centre. Ideal for all recreational activities. Was at a music day. Thousands in attendance to see plenty of up and coming musicians groups and established performers as well. Could have done with another few hours or even another days music.
G. P.
Very clean and tidy 👍👏👏
M. L.
Really lovely park bigger than I thought peaceful and pleasant people I've been there a few times no antisocial behaviour.
g. m.
A nice park, for your morning and evening walks or to just spend time relaxing or reading your books on a sunny morning, in the heart of Ipswich. Many people come to walk their pets. There is a pond and a mansion. The visit to the mansion is free and takes around 30-45 mins, do check it out.
J. F.
Great place to sit and chill...
R. C.

S. B.
When I was younger it was a great park grass always cut neat, ponds in pristine condition, arboretum always look great a pleasure to walk round but parts of it now are going to rack and ruin not looked after at all.
J. T.

P. G.
Went there for their music day. Really enjoyed it. 7 stages 56 acts and free! Just seriously busy though. They reckon 20-30 thousand people went. Good day out but bring chairs and a picnic.
A. B.

N. B.
Beautiful park which is great for families. Large fenced in playground, great manor house to walk round, multiple ponds, and some very friendly squirrels.

K. J.
Beautiful open park with well maintained paths and plenty of trees and benches. 2 large ponds and a new play area being built at the moment.
S. B.
Lovely large park with plenty of open grass. Tree lined paths through the park. Places for drinks and snacks. Certain paths can be cycled down. Large mansion/museum.
S. D.
Very good and large place in Ipswich for summer events and for leisure. The Council keeps the place clean and tidy. However the creativity (about flowers and birds for example) is very poor. The space needs artists with good taste (and not the horrible wave of pigs or elephants displayed in the streets). Aesthetic is very important but English people are very poor about that. Look the figures in public toilets (town Centre), horrible. But Christchurch Park is beautiful and very useful, so I hope improvement will be made.
V. R.
Best place to go along with family and friends in summer. Place baseball with friends or a day out with family or cricket with friends, absolutely fantastic maintanence all throughout the year! Myself and few friends of mine used to play cricket almost every weekend during the summer.
C. C.
Beautiful park all year round. Cafe now open more often, as is The Mansion. Good for quiet visits alone and with the family too. Always take visitors to the area here.
M. S.
When I visited it was busy but plenty of space to socially distance. The play park has been changed to allow social distancing. I hope to visit again when everything is back to its pre COVID state.
H. B.
Lovely park plenty of amenities great for families. Ideal to take a picnic and let the children run free. We are older generation but love the peace and tranquility.
M. S.
A large park just 7 mins walk from the town centre! It is well kept and very family-friendly. There are lawns, woodland and an arboretum. Definitely worth a visit.
S. H.
What a lovely park for a relaxing walk minutes away from the town centre. Additionally there is an educational exhibition as well as the Mansion House which is free to visitors with a small tea room.
J. W.
Love this place so nice to just chill and relax. You have duck ponds with terrapins bathing on. Tennis court. Toilets. A park with swings it's realy nice for the kids and adults too...
S. (.
A lovely park in the heart of Ipswich. Huge open green areas, as well as wooded areas, play areas, a huge duck pond and a fantastic museum too. A great place to go with the kids for an afternoon.
F.
On weekends there are loads of doggies and dog walkers. Two duck ponds. Bird reserve. Tennis courts. The council are now planting rare tree saplings across the park. There is a marked 2.5KM walking/running lap. Lovely café. Organised walks and volunteering opportunities.
Has it all!
Public toilets can close early to prevent vandalism or stay closed all day.
R. W.
Great park. Unfortunately at the moment around the wilderness pond there are several rats!!!!! The park attendants appear to be aware and have set traps.
S. B.
Beautiful park in central Ipswich. Contains Christchurch mansion open to public to see exhibits from long gone age. Ponds to feed ducks. Tea room. Ice cream kiosk. Enclosed children's play area. Cenotaph. Wonderful arboretum area

They've always got interesting exhibitions here. Went back yesterday to see Rodin's "the kiss" and wasn't disappointed. A fantastic display of early Constable life drawings too.
Definitely worth a visit.
R. K.
Biggest park in Ipswich. Lots of things to do including taking a walk, lots of wildlife such as birds and squirrels. Lots of dog walkers and generally nice big park. In the winter it closes at 16:30 tbough due to it getting dark earlier. Christchurch mansion itself is free and very good/nice, you can get married in it and have a FREE 30minute tour of the property
J. A.
Wonderful huge open space very close to town centre with beautiful mansion, ponds, lakes, childrens play area, wild areas, 2 arboretums and refreshments
D. O.
A fabulous place to chill and enjoy time with nature, or with the kids in the play ground, playing footy, feeding the ducks or having and ice cream or cream tea in the cafe by the mansion. Love coming here to unwind and relax.
G. B.
There's the Christchurch mansion where you can walk in it and look at different items inside it. There is an outdoor park and a hut where you can get ice creams, teas and coffees and much more. There is a 5km park run that occurs here during winter months when it can't take place at chantry park anymore, hundreds of runners take part in this and they don't all run some walk it, it's a great way to meet new people and stay fit.
T. M.
Very nice Park and well kept. Children's playground with plenty of equipment. Toilets and places to eat and drink. Also the Mansion so well worth a visit.
a. f.
Lovely park, clean and tidy with a great kids play area. My son loves feeding the ducks and the squirrels in the quiet little forest area.
P. R.
There are many beautiful places to visit in Suffolk - I don't think Christchurch Park gets as positive a press because it's in the middle of Ipswich. It's a great place for a medium length walk.
H. W.
I went when a festival was on so couldn't see what was on offer but looks like it would be a good place for a peaceful stroll & lazy picnic when there aren't events on. The free music event was great considering it's free.
A. H.
Awesome place for walks and relaxing. There are 2 ponds with different types of birds. There is a small play area for kids below 10 years
T. C.
A very well kept and historic park. Great for walks, dog walking, duck feeding and general park relaxing. Make some time to look around the mansion,it's free!
P. G.

Really lovely big park and play park, only gripe would be that there isn't really anything for the really young children in the play park, not even a tiny slide but great for 3+

Lovely park on the edge of town with a number of different areas and paths between them, good place to enjoy

Well looked after, however it is annoying that such a large park has limited paths you can cycle on. I was once told to get off my bike as I could harm a squirrel by cycling over it.
