Reviews of Castle Hill Country Park
This is a lovely unexpected place. Lots of variety from wooded trails to open hills, rivers and little tracks, to majestic views and places to ponder. It’s big yet caters for both short and longer walks. Well cared for and an absolute pleasure. It’s a private place where you can be alone yet there are people around. At times, the A46, which is well hidden, provides the unwelcome intrusive hum of traffic but the beauty of nature drowns this out as your eyes and other senses do the listening. From an old twisted oak tree to the sound of young birds singing there is something to suit all ages, families and single walkers. It really is a lovely surprising city treasure so close to the urban landscape.
Great park and nature area, some really good walks and excellent for running in as well.
The walks here are amazing especially when you get on top of a hill the views are wow, can see the fields. Nice long walk and some wildlife. Really quiet, good day to spend out for those that love to walk!
Lovely country park to take a walk. Theres a lovely trail of decorated stones that is so long, loads of BlackBerry bushes, many fields of wheat (or is it barley?) Great for long walks, or trail running and I noticed a sign board mentioning orienteering which would be fun to do. Theres a bridge that goes over the dual carriageway which my 4 year old absolutely loved to stand on and watch all the cars zoom by beneath him. We wernt really sure where to park as there was a red barrier down blocking access to what we assumed was the car park for castle hill country park but we could be wrong. There were about 3 spaces before the barrier which we were lucky enough to have got 1 of them when we arrived. So thats where we parked. Would definatly go there again. Only down side is the paths weren't suitable for the pushchair. So probably not the best place to go if ur travelling with a little one. Maybe take a sling instead.
Lovely place to run through, walk the dogs through and take the Grandkids exploring in.
Love this place, Cav is our new rescue,,,, They Absolutely love playing in the water once in can not get them out. People are very friendly pleasant and will have chat especially if they have dogs. My Prince would loved it too, 😢
This is a lovely quiet spot to walk around
Quiet walks, not much else
Not good place if you have a pushchair 😔
Lots of history to this place. Interesting information to read about it on boards put around the park. You can walk and walk here. It's great for dog walking and picnicking. Might get boggy in winter and spring but you can walk higher up. It's lovely.
Just lovely, so much effort has been made to make this a really lovely place to walk, the only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is the awful and and constant noise of heavy fast moving traffic that is so hard to ignore. However the Anstey and Thurcaston end is quieter . Definitely worth a walk there, just try and avoid high traffic times .
What a fantastic place for a walk. So close to Leicester but you soon feel in the middle of nowhere. My dogs love it.
Any green space is lovely! This is a nice untouched Country Park with wide footpaths and plenty of benches to rest. My first visit, I didn't realise how big it is. There are other country parks in the county that are far more beautiful though.
Love this place and being 3 doors away from it you can't pick a better place to live
This place is absolutely amazing. Went on a Sunday evening and it was empty! Great woodland, meadow and field trails. Quite a few archeological and historical points within this park if you're into that kind of thing. Great viewpoints too. Well worth a visit.
Bad today as there was a motorcycle riding dangerously around the park
We have just moved near to the Castle Hill Park Area purely because it's such a great place to be. The area is vast and there are plenty of different walks to go on. The woods are lovely especially in the spring when all the bluebells are flowering.
Good place for walking the dogs
Very nice park with some historical things.lovely winding grass pathways and some go through woodland.
On the downside some of the old benches have been replaced with new ones that are much smaller much too narrow to sit comfortably shame.
Also beware dog walkers the fence that runs along the A46 dual carriageway is open (Not wired) and so any dog can wander onto the carriageway so very dangerous 😑
Very nice, and peace full, with clear running stream of water and plenty of greenery with free exercise facilities and benches to sit on .
Nice walk. Great for kids and dogs. Traffic noise constantly in the background though.
Nice place for taking the dog for a walk. Peaceful and not too busy. Grass water trees a bridge . Lovely stuff.
Very popular with dog owners lots of different paths the take excellent open space
Lovely walk
I love this place you enter the fields and it's like being in a different place lots of lovely walks and so peaceful
Really good place for family walks. Few different routes. My kids love it.
I lived adjourning the park for 25 years and have watched it develop from overgrown waste to a beautiful place to walk, still travel back to walk and congratulations are due to the upkeep of the area, I so hope to move back there one day
Nice walk. Lots of dog walkers but all respectful
Lovely place to walk your dog, use to go here alot when I was a kid.
Always lovely for a walk and what an amazing orchard
Pretty place
Would be better if dog owners either sticked and flicked or bag it and bin it instead of bagging it and leave it hanging from a tree
Lovely place for a dog walk
Nice place away from the hustle & bustle of the city.
