This is a great park within the walk distance from DMU University and some accomodations. Nice to spend time walking or just sitting there with the view, specially during the summer I guess.

Small park just off the city centre. Lovely to walk through beside the river. Many different tree species to admire, and fairly well maintained shrub, herbaceous and seasonal planting, so varied interest throughout the year. Close to DeMontfort University so probably popular with students during warmer periods. Take a picnic, sit and relax, and forget you're in the city. ☺

Just lovely and almost in the heart of Leicester Town centre. Ducks, geese and a rower on the river. Even pigeons came to be a fed. Gardens looked just great. Nature at its best. What's not to like?! 🦆

Visiting my daughter at uni, I took advantage of the sunny weather and went for a walk around Castle Park. What a lovely little place it is. Lots of benches for people watching. We walked both sides of the river via the bridge.

Lots of squirrels and robins and even a fox was spotted here. Right against the canal for swan and goose and ducks. Needs bins and maybe a water faucet. Also can get very muddy and slippy at the top of the hill, so watch out.

Lovely place to go during a busy university day. Absolutely lovely park directly next to De Monfort University. Very well maintained, and has a nice bit of history with the Celtic story telling area. Recommend coming here to unwind or to get a breath of fresh air. Lovely amount of trees and plants for something surrounded by city!

We always go through the Castle Gardens every time we walk to city centre. Always well kept, with lovely flowers this time of year. There's space for people to sit, even eat some lunch or just to enjoy the scenery. Can get a good look at the River Soar and the swans too. However some benches and little corners could do with a cleaning.

I went early in the morning with my friend so had the park to ourselves and it was such a relaxing place to be. The sitting area at the top of the stairs has a wonderful view of most of the park and for a relatively small space it has a lot to offer, whether you looking for somewhere somewhere to just relax or you're passing through.

Really small beautiful serene park only a few minutes from the centre of the city. Lovely place to take a break and to have a walk along the canal. Not much cover from rain or much to do apart from to sit and relax however. Only taking a point down as for busy during my visit and also some litter which detracted. Overall this place is great and worth a visit.

A tranquil open garden space right next the Leicester City centre. Benches and green grass for a Picknic. Signs to read for history. On street parking right outside gates. Nearest toilets are in Newark House museum a 5 minute walk away.

Unfortunately, there was a group of Eastern Europeans, drinking and not social distancing in one of the seating area's. Castle Gardens are absolutely beautiful. Trees and flowers of all varieties. It's also by the River. There are tables and seats. You can take your sandwiches and watch the swans, geese and sometimes a rowing boat go by. Near to the City Centre, but you can relax and take "time out". Be refreshed.

A well maintained place to walk around with plenty of secluded places to sit with friends. This park is ideal for a picnic, whether you choose the green near the lake or on top of the mound where Leicester Castle once stood.

Moored up overnight. Like all inner-city locations it suffers from traffic noise but the upside is access to city shops and restaurants. The park is locked overnight but the lock on the landing gate needs repairing.

Steeped in culture and history, Castle Park is a brilliant place to visit. Bring a notepad or a paperback and sit in beautiful quietude not really available anywhere else in the city, while watching narrow boats compete against the swans on the canal. Makes for a very relaxing trip in all seasons, especially spring and summer when the best colours of nature are on display. It's also a good area for Pokémon Go - if you're into that sort of thing. Plenty of seats and benches available and a nice lush lawn. Perfect for picnics.

I went here as part of Heritage Sunday in Leicester. Take your kids, I saw a lot of parents teaching their children about the history of Leicester :) Heritage Sundays are the last Sunday of every month until November this year (2017), a lot of historic places are free to visit and you can get a tour if you want as well, so keep an eye out on Facebook and online. I love museums and hadn't visited this one. It was much better than I expected, and this was mainly due to the old prison- please, if you do go, make sure you go into the cells! They were so interesting, and are right below the courtroom (Ask one of the helpful ladies at reception, the entrance is a bit tricky to find in the stand/the dock). Look out for Engravings on the benches and behind the doors!
