Reviews of Hartsholme Country Park
m. s.
Best park in town, just fascinating to walk through or just set for few hours to watch the docks in the lake. Recommended for families or even individuals. The integration of green nature with the lake is so incredible and peaceful. Go and have a peace of mind ♥️
L. D.
Amazing park! It is magical to walk through and to do a picnic as well. My husband and I enjoyed our time there watching the very old trees and listening to ducks
P. R.
Very nice park with clean toilets small cafe and free parking. The walks follows the lakes, the paths are all maintained so ideal for all types including push chairs wheel chairs etc plenty of benches around the walk there's a picnic area aswell.
M. M.
Really enjoyable local nature walk, fun for all the family. Great facilities and kids really enjoyed the park. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Y. B. a. L.
Will come here again and again, a good woodland to explore and walk through, wild dear, a meadow and walks that can go on for miles if you wanted to. Wildlife friendly activities, park rangers on site. Cafe which is reasonable. Picnic area and benches. Friendly squirrels uses to being fed by humans will come up to you for nuts. Lake walk is pleasant. Play park is well maintained and well loved by big and small children alike. Can get busy! Lovely variety. Car parking is good.
K. J.
Absolutely love it here! Lots of different trails and little adventures to be had. Along with a playground, café and toilet facilities makes it perfect for a little family trip. This week we saw squirrels, woodpeckers, sparrowhawks and even a deer. Awesome day!
D. L.
Wonderful place. Lots of peaceful walks, plenty of wildlife, the lakes are full of birds. Highly recommended.
L. V.
An amazing place to visit. Beautiful safe walks, clean toilets little cafe serving from a hatch but nowhere under cover to eat. There is an area with picnic beaches but all seating was too wet to use. Free parking.
U. R.
Beautiful park, nice walking paths, lovely lake, playground for children,,public toilets available and a cafe as well.A lovely day out provided the weather holds!
R. B.
A good place for a walk, good paths, pleasant surroundings, saw heron and small deer. Small cafe and decent carparking.
P. S.
This is an excellent Country Park which is clearly well maintained by the Rangers on site. The wild life are so friendly, obviously treated with respect by park visitors.
L. M.
Really lovely place- used it as a central meet up for meeting family we all drove 1-1.5hours to get there and was well worth it. We took a picnic although there was a kiosk selling food and drink. We took part in the pirate treasure trail which all 5 kids enjoyed (aged 2-11). Plenty of trails ro explore, nice play park too and free parking. Will definitely return and would recommend 🙂
S. P.
Had a great time ,unspoilt nature at its best and right on the doorstep of Lincoln, only down side I believe is the car park is on the small side so if you want to go would advise be early other than that a free fun time
M. F.
Like this place. I would recommend this place for everyone. Visited the boat club that meets at the lake very nice. Could do with a big cafe.
S. D.
We took our mum to feed the duck and have a picnic while it was a quieter time as it’s better for myself
S. C.
A great place to while away some time. Beautiful walks around the lake, large areas of open grassland to enjoy, great play areas for children and some bigger rides for not so small ones.
A reasonably priced cafe is available and there is also access to clean and maintained toilets.
If you fancy staying a bit longer there is also a camp site which caters for caravans as well as tents and which has a shower block too.
S. W.
Lovely peaceful few days caravanning at Hartsholme, Well maintained site, beautiful park, great walks and easy access to the city centre by nearby bus routes. Hope to come here again.
R. B.
Try the walks round the top lake's to get away from the crowds. Best kids play park in Lincoln but still not a great park. Car parking is free. The cafe is good for a hot drink and cake on a cold day or icecream in the summer. It's great for dog walking with a few places for a dog to swim.
There is lots of wildlife if you look for it including Deer, fox, rabbit, squirrel, frogs, snakes (grass and adders but don't be worried) plus a plethora of birds including heron's nesting, kingfishers and friendly robins which will come up very close if you are quite and move slowly.
P. P.
Lovely place to visit. Loads of walks, loads of squirrels, ducks etc. Play park kept them amused for ages and there's toilets. Need to time the parking right as the car park is not very big.
R. B.
Very helpful campsite staff.
Took us to pitch
Site quiet and will laid out with plenty of space. Good price for pitch with Ehu.
Facilities clean but queued at busy times as 2 of everything.
Very handy for getting into Lincoln.
Stayed one night in September to break journey.
Would stay AGAIN!!
D. T.
Beautiful day and park being used by families on picnics, playing croquet, football etc, children feeding the ducks, rabbits and squirrels everywhere. Lovely place to relax or have a family day out.

E. G.
Beautiful park.
Great for a walk.
Lots of nature to see.
Good parking.
L. F.
Beautiful city park with plenty to see. Lots of lovely wildlife about including deer, woodpeckers, rabbits and a resident kingfisher. As well as plenty of squirrels and water fowl.
The trails are generally wide and accessible and there are benches throughout the park.
R. S.
Hartsholme Country Park is a lovely park to wander round. It has a central lake surrounded by woodland where you can see deer and foxes if you are lucky first thing in the morning. All sorts of water fowl live there year round too. Paths lead off to Swanholme Lakes which is the nature reserve so there are plenty of paths to take on your nature journey.
S. G.
Really pleasant place to walk the dog, picnic, get the kids out of the house. Plenty of space to walk around. With the lake, ducks, deer, woods and the play park there is plenty for all ages.
Most of the paths are fairly wheelchair friendly and accessible parking too.
Parking is free with an overflow car park close by.
Supposed to be loos and cafe on site but we didn't get that far.
J. h.
Nice place to go for a quiet walk and dog friendly
A. B.
This was such a great place, and really pleased I visited.
There's a vast array of open space, and it's extremely scenic.
The play areas for the kids and so much land, you could spend many hours here.
Huge picturesque lakes, and they also have an onsite visitor centre and cafe.
To top it all, the place (including parking) is free.........except if you want something from the cafe of course!! 😂
L. R.
Had a lovely walk around with the dogs and friends... one of our dogs stood on glass though n cut open his paw.. I presume its a local hang out for kids on an evening who recon it's a good idea to smash bottles...
N. B.
Lovely park. Quite a lot of shaded areas for doggies in the hot weather. Didn't have chance to use the loos or cafe as they were shut when we arrived. Lovely park for kids
A. O.
Fabulous place . Super walks, lakes and able to let dog off lead. Nice cafe and able to stay in caravan. Lovely to visit for a couple of days
J. M. M.
The best place to go for a walk and enjoy nature with a beautiful lake. You can also spend the day with the family. A TOP place if ever there was one.
L. P.
An extremely beautiful relaxing walk here, ideal for those of us with doggies too.
I can't say much more as don't really know what to say other than its perfect!
S. C.
It doesn't matter what the season, there is always enough room to escape into nature at Hartsholme Park.
And it's definitely worth taking the long way round to get to Swanholme Lake... my kids love to run down the small hills that border Swanholme.
Younger children will enjoy the play park and kids of all ages will enjoy the giant pendulum swing (maybe a few adults, too).
Take in the scenery, grab a hot chocolate from the cafe, feed the squirrels peanuts and enjoy the fresh air.
But bring wellies if it has rained recently, the paths get muddy.
Overflow car parking available just up the road from the park at the football pitches, if you can't find a space in the park car park.
Tip: If you time it right, you can watch the sun set over the lake...
J. G.
This park is very nice, and has all the amenities you need. Cafe, toilets, playground, picnic benches and a camp site. If you like lakes this place has plenty. Also has woodlands and meadows. Wildlife everywhere. Great place for the family, dog walkers and walkers.
K. O.
Same as the cafe wonderful accidental find going back. Fantastic place for dogs and family. Free parking clean lovely walks.
A. R.
Stunning place to walk round loads of squirrels running around. So peaceful and relaxing.
Car park is also free make sure to take boots if it's wet.
S. A.
Gorgeous park, very scenic, quiet and peaceful.
B.
Clean and full of wildlife a great walk around the lake or through the fields and forest. Well sized play area for kids overall a good day out for free.
R. J.
Lovely walking space for dogs and humans
K. Y.
Lovely big open space to take the family for a picnic and outdoor fun. Plenty of benches. Don't forget bread for the ducks and nuts for the squirrels.
A. R.
Beautiful woodland walks around a lake and the river. Cafe was takeaway only due to covid-19 but the baps were still good. Toilets were open 10am to 2pm as of our visit on 15th July 2020.
D. M.
Excellent find, had a great time with family who provided a picnic and a hilarious game of Rounders, which my daughter Hayley stealing the show with a double twist somersault turn with a pike!! Hilarious 😂 or what!
D. T.
My dog and I love this place, we spend hours walking here, we've even managed to get lost a few times as it's quite big. It's beautiful.
s. s.
Well what can you say, great park for all the family with good long walks to small walks down (squirrel ally) leading to open pend in area great for small children to run free, then on to the cafe.!! Witch is a wicked little cafe with great staff lovely munch and most importantly they have (TEA) pets welcome/WC, Finally on the the park it's self, all children of all ages will enjoy (even dads) P.S don't forget to feed the duck along many of the shopping places around the lake, witch in turn itself is a great walk round (white bridge back to white bridge)
P. G.
The park has a wide variety of wild animals, two play areas, a lake, a visitor centre and a cafe area. There's load to do, with free parking.
R. F.
Lovely park situated off skellingthotpe road including free parking, W.C and also cafe. Nice trails between lakes and through woodland and cycle paths also. The squirrels are very friendly ☺ good place to bring children of all ages. Also has a green and kids play park.
A. K.
This is a well kept park. The walk around the lake is good, even in bad weather as you get some shelter from the trees, with places to sit along the way. Plenty of wildlife to see and big open grass areas and play park, including picnic benches. If you play Pokemon go a good amount of pokestops as well. One of my favourite places.
C. S.
Very clean well maintained park, only criticism is that parking is a nightmare. No where near enough spaces for the volume of visitors at peak times.
L. L.
Love it here, always something to see and lovely walks, always meet nice people on our regular visits
L. C.
Plenty of birds and trees and that's all I can ask for really
N. C.
Great place to visit, particularly on a nice day. Free parking, small cafe where you sit outside, bacon baps, toasted teacakes, cold drinks, hot chocolate etc. Plenty of outside seating/tables dotted around. Toilets. So much wildlife to see. Birds, squirrels, beautiful scenery too. Great for long walks, lazy strolls and just getting outdoors. Remember to bring peanuts for the squirrels and corn/bird seed.
M. A.
Fun location. Some parking inside park but they have a lot near by, which is free. Plenty of pathways to get some exercise. Plenty of ducks and squirrels to feed if you want. Picnic benches available for use. Play area available for use. Cafe somewhere in the park, have not been yet.
R. B.
A beautiful place to go for a walk any time of year. If your into your pokemon hunting then there's bundles on pokestops. Or if ifs for a dog walk then there's lots of space to throw a ball or sniff at trees. There play parks suited to youngsters or teenagers and plenty of picnic benches. The woodland is plentiful and the dotted around are fields. There are different lengths of walks and you'll find some maps to help you pick the right length or get back to where you need to be. They have a sensory garden and a refreshment stand with toilets. Parking is free, and there is additional parking across the road for the busy summer months.
M. T. F.
I love this place! Every walk is different and I discover something new! Nice place for the whole family and very well-kept by the rangers!
J. R.
The grounds and area are well kept and trimmed back away from the pathways, it's well spaced out and would spend the whole day there if you wanted. The small Café takes cash only, a little surprising in this day and age, the playground for the children is Okay if not a little small.
C. S.
Lovely place. Worth a visit. Great to just chill out.
J. P.
A magical place not far from the centre of Lincoln, well used by dog walkers. With lots of wildlife in the park.
N. L.
An amazing place with so giant trees and beautiful lakes. Definitely a place for nourishing the mind.
D. H.
Very cramped and poorly paved car park which was mainly flooded after a small rain shower. Also a lot of dogs out of control chasing the wildlife. Otherwise a nice park and lakeside walk.
P.
Wonderful place for a warm April day...
S. P.
Beautiful clean park and overcome walk around the lake . Easy to park the car, clean toilets, caffee and play field for kids . Wild life well presented
M. G.
Apart from dogs off their leads in wildlife area. Quad bikes racing on the paths at night. The warden not about during advertised hours. It was fine.
A. W.
Great place to take kids back to nature and top play area, great for bird spotting and watching wild deer roam about
J. D.
Best park in Lincoln. Perfect for dog walkers and children. Small cafe with a little bit of food. Gorgeous lake and trails through the woods
e. w.
Aa lovely park, been coming here 34 years and never bored of the walks in any weather, a little cafe near by, dogs must be kept on leads to protect wildlife disabled parking and other parking
R. A.
Amazing place to visit, great walks around the woods cafe is reasonably priced, be warned about limited access hours on toilet facilities.
j. k.
Love this place, buses 🚌 into town, just up the road turn right from site walking 🚶♀️ distance there's a lovely fish 🐟 and chip shop, also a shop 😀
G. M.
Great Park but spoilt by cyclists ignoring the "No cycling" signs along with irresponsible dog owners who do not have control of their dog but think it is ok for it to charge up to another dog on a lead!!!
S. D.
It's ok. This is a nice walking location and atmosphere is tranquil. Parking was not straight forward. As we went on a Sunday it wasn't too bad in the end.
S. A.
Really lovely campsite, clean, tidy and well managed site. Perfect for Lincoln as bus stops just outside the park or an hrs walk to the historical part of Lincoln.
A. A.
I used to drive past this park regularly due to a previous job.
After having a look on Google to try and get an idea of what was available at the park we decided to give it a try and wasn't disappointed.
There was plenty of areas to walk Wilf and the weather on the day made for a very pleasant experience.
P. L.
Beautiful place! Take walks around this lake or just sit and watch the birds go by it's all in a Sunday afternoon. If your up for the challenge complete two laps of this wonderful lake and keep yourself entertained with visuals only nature can provide!
G. F.
Hartsholme is a wonderful retreat, perfect for walking in the woods and enjoying a picnic. The large area has all kinds of parts, with lake areas, sandy and lots of woods with well marked routes. Parking is free onsite plus there is a large children's play area and a cafe.
L. L.
Love exploring the woods with my grandchildren. Camping area with showers. Nice little cafe with hot and cold food at great prices and toilets. Children's playing area. Lots of activities going on through the year and events. Would recommend
G. W.
Lovely park. The path around the lake is a good size and is good under foot. The playground has lots of things for children of all ages to enjoy. There are toilets and a cafe. Parking is free.
g. h.
Nice place for a walk with a nice little cafe. Free parking was a bonus, especially in Lincoln where parking is usually expensive
K. P.
Its a lovely park, just needs more maintenance. There's a lot of rubbish in the woods. Other than that it's great.
J. H.
Lovely walk round the lake. Great no charge for parking. Great playground. Lots of birds good to see.
Thank you for a haven on the edge of a city to be able to spend with family.
M. M. L.
We’ve been visiting Hartsholme country park for many years now. Each time were always taken back by how beautiful and well kept the park is. We especially enjoy the walks around Autumn when the trees are changing colours... catch it at the right time during sunset and you’re in for a treat. A beautiful please for photography too!

Amazing park always loads of fun and great time
M. C.
Hartsholme Park is a lovely place for all ages. Lovely walks through woods and beside lakes. A lovely place to just sit and enjoy nature. There is a playground for children and lots of grassy areas for a picnic. There is a cafe that also sells ice creams. There are public toilets but they tend to be locked quiet early . If you go, take a handful of peanuts with you to feed the squirrels. They will eat out of your hand and sit beside you on the bench.
C. H.
Hartsholme country park has a lovely caravan site, wardens very helpful, lots of walks round the park. Not far from the site you can catch a bus to Lincoln about every 10 mins ideal for trip to cathedral and castle. A little on the negative side toilets and showers could do with modernising but don't get the wrong idea they are still adequate. First time we have been here but won't be the last. Hartsholme has a lot of nice things to enjoy.
P. B.
Beautiful park lots of rabbits and hares first thing. Well worth a visit.
I. R.
Excellent day out with the grand children

A fantastic park very close to the centre of Lincoln. Fun to feed the many friendly squirrels! Can easily spend a few hours here. Toilets usually open too.
M. J.
Great place, a bit crowded at the moment. Lovely playing area for kids. A lots of squirrels :)
T. S.
Went to fly my drone and had a fantastic hour or so. The people using the park are great too, very well behaved! There is a cafe, toilets and plenty of wildlife to see, also big open spaces and walks. I would recommend this park to anyone.
M. W.
Beautiful park with a cute playground and lots of grass for a picnic. It is popular with dog walkers. It's got a cafe and toilets. There's a huge lake with some ducks etc on it. Loads of squirrels in the woods too.

WELL DONE AND THANK YOU
WARDENS.
R. D.
Nice calm place to walk with children's 👌
S. C.
Beautiful park lots of open space the lakes are gorgeous. The play park for children was ideal lots of things for all ages. The cafe was reasonably priced and good service.Three things let it down.
1. There is only 1 toilet block and that closed at 3.30pm
2. The maps weren't as informative as they could be.
3. There could be more signs directing you to the car park, toilets etc.
c. w.
So peaceful and beautiful. Squirrels come up to you so close! Even closer if you've got monkey nuts! Perfect place for a walk and picnic.
J. P.
Once again we have a lovely country park being spoilt by irresponsible members of the public. There's plenty of dog waste and litter bins about so use them! I was surprised that the car parks were free too, the council should charge a nominal fee to help with the upkeep of this gem of a place.
N. S.
peaceful and relaxing place. full with lovely animals. great place to spend some time with your family if you want to have a rest from the noise of the city.
A. C.
A great slice of nature with a beautiful lake and well marked, accessible paths for wandering.
N. U.
Not having been for a number of years, I was surprised how clean and well kept the entire place was. Walked around the outside including Swanholme lakes. Enjoyed the visit. Nice to see see clean toilets and the cafe open.
V. M.
Nice place to spend time with family, or have some activities like walking, running.
S. C.
Went here recently with family for relaxation together. Lovely wooded area with paths to follow, lake with some seating to watch variety of water fowl. Toilets at information hub but closed about 3pm!!! Reasonable amount of parking, free!
D. A.
Lovely experience and lots of wildlife
c. b.
Fab place for families to enjoy the fresh air. Take some nuts for the squirrels who are very friendly.
A. M.
Great place for walks and enjoying the surroundings
J. H.
Lovely park for a walk with plenty of space to run around. Cafe prices were cheap too
T. S.
What a place this is! The views of the lake are outstanding. I could literally sit for hours looking out the lake at the ducks and geese. This place is very photogenic at any time of the year. There are plenty of trails to follow that go all the way around the lake. It is just so peaceful here watching the world go by. Plenty of benches and places to sit down. Toilets and a kids playground are also here. Ample parking too.
C. W.
The Park is very well kept and has a small cafe. Its large grounds contain a lake, childrens play park and large wooded areas. A must visit for all the family where you can explore the wooded areas and walk your dogs. There are various tables and large green spaces available for picnicking. Overall this is a great place to visit, myself and my family have spent many happy hours here.
N. A.
I love this park. So beautiful. Lovely walks.
K. P.
Absolutely love pottering around in hartsholme Park. I'm disabled so the level paths are easier for myself and in general plenty of seating all the way round. Mostly clean and tidy and well kept. Go at right time of year and can see the nesting herons too
T. H.
An interesting evening stroll, will return in the daytime and when it is a little less wet and muddy.
L. T.
What a great place to walk, run, walk the dogs, take the kids. There is even camping and pods.
Lovely circular walks. With areas digs can be off lead and others they must be on lead. Swans, and lots of other wildlife.
Free parking and information boards.
Well worth a visit, any time of year.
j. a.
Lovely walks and a great playground for kids
K. L.
Today was a visit to the play area with family to get us all out for a bit. Reasonably busy with people enjoying the park without it being too hot. A little disappointed to see the basket swing has been removed but beside that, there are various play equipment which the children seem to love.
Cafe was open from the hatch to get icecream and drinks which was nice and a rather long queue for the toilets. A nice place all on all especially for a wander around the lake.
E. P.
Serene, tranquil, beautiful, idyllic, peaceful, just an absolutely wonderful place.
S.
Lovely walk around, lakes and a park aswell as a nice little cafe.
M. A.
Amazing place! Plenty to do and hours, hours of outdoor activities. Water, lakes, beautiful nature.
B. H.
Nice walk around the lake. Cafe is basic but clean and good value snacks such as baked potato and sausage rolls.
M. P.
lovely place to explore, relax and unwind - plenty of wild birds and cheeky squirrels to enjoy! shame about the lazy ones who’ve left their plastic drink bottles and rubbish floating around in the corner of the lake
i. s.
Even though it was busy was still a good day.only downside is parking but overflow car park available
M. G.
Just love this wonderful Country Park even in the Autumn gloom!
a. k.
Nice walks, nice views, plenty of wildlife, cafe etc.
S. B.
Great place to walk, picnic, take the kids to the park, there's loads of wildlife, including deer if you look hard, lots of shade or open space, great walk with the dogs, or take a cycle round. There's a nice cafe (great bacon butties), there's some friendly park rangers to help out and a place to pitch up for the caravan should you wish with good facilities. There's also an extended walk for those who like a bit of a hike.
A. G.
Great place for a walk, wildlife spotting is great. The squirrels are a little too familiar with humans though!! They approached us!
R. D.
.. another lovely visit .. worth noting that the Café is takeaway via a hatch only
A. L.
Nice place to have a walk on your own with a pal or dog.
T. J.
♥️
M. G.
Went on a school trip with the youngest. Been here many a time after living in jarvis house and the park has always been a sanctuary for me. Nice to see progress throughout the park now.
H. L.
Lively place nice for a wall with the dogs or take the kids to the play park, very clean
W. A.
Always worth a stroll through here, lovely woodland walks with an area that comes to life in the spring and summer with dragonflies.
The lakes are home to numerous wild birds and there are a number of benches dotted about to take a seat and soak in the views.
There is a few areas that have been victim to vandalism... With fences broken and thrown into the lakes, it's a shame that some people can't just leave well alone really...
But overall this is well worth getting out into the fresh air and wandering through one afternoon.
E.
Amazing place to bring the whole family. Bring monkey nuts , squirrels are quite tame and will take them out your hand. Play area is clean and recently refurbished.
G. P.
Very well kept as always, loads of squirrels to feed too
B. M.
My favourite doggy walking place, its amazing how many other walkers stop and chat. Can play spot the wildlife with the kids. Lots of different path ways to explore. Plenty of parking as well.
C. E.
Great park with good accessibility and free entry. Several walks are signposted, up to about a mile in length. Paths well maintained and the walks are easy going and mostly flat. On site cafe is very reasonable and there are toilets. Plenty of benches and areas for picnicking. Various birds on the lake including ducks and moorhens and lots of squirrels.
K. B.
Great place for a picnic and a scenic walk around the lake - not too many routes to choose from but ALL paths are wheelchair accessible (paths aren't always smooth). There are some really nice wooded areas & if youre lucky (& quiet) squirrels may appear so make sure to take some peanuts with you if thats something you're interested in doing. There is a children's play area available with plenty of green space around it (ideal for picnics & games) There are toilet facilities available including 1 x disabled toilet which is always nice & clean (radar key needed) There is a cafe which offers a variety of hot & cold food as well as ice cream and snacks - all at reasonable prices. My only complaint as a disabled person is the lack of blue badge parking spots- as far as I can tell there are only 2 spaces available!
M. J.
Lovely place great for taking the kids and many walks around the park to suit all needs and fitness levels
C.
Lovely place for a stroll around the lake
M. E. N.
Lovely lakes and woods to wander in.
Free parking, cafe, toilets... Sorted.
J. S.
I go here a lot with my dogs and son. There's a play park, ducks, squirrels and a long river. Even a cafe with toilets, so you could easily spend 2-3 hours here on a nice day. Well maintained and clean.
W. N.
Great walk for the family, play park for the kids. Very friendly squirrels, feed the ducks and miles of woodland to explore. Free parking which is a bonus. Be careful in the winter periods as there's plenty of puddles and standing water. Cafe if you want a warm cup of tea or snacks.
T. L.
Nice site next to the lakes. The Swan pub is about 15 minutes walk but it's straight through the park. Bus stop just outside park, €4.20 return into Lincoln
M. E.
It s a great post where you can spend precious time with your family
C. T.
Beautiful well kept. Great for picnics and some lovely walks.
The only problem I found was the toilets were locked at 3.30pm to the public which I found inconvenient.
K. H.
All ways a good place to tack photos ,
S. B.
Fantastic place for a walk the 8sbreally good and staff are friendly
m. o.
This park is a good place to visit, nice lake to walk round and relax plenty of parking,
Cafe,Toilets, park for the kids.
m. h.
Fantastic park for family walks. There is Little cafe that sells warm food all year round.
B. E.
Great county park with free parking and if the main one is full you can park across the road at the football pitches then walk 50 yards down the road to the crossing.
The park has a great outdoor play area and large open spaces for a kick around. You have a few good trail you can choose from to walk around.
The cafe offers good food and a reasonable price and it's dog friendly outside with water bowls.
The ranger office is worth a visit for younger kids showing all the wildlife you can find in the park. Well worth a visit to Hartsholme park.
M. B.
An oasis amidst an urban jungle.
Very pleasant arboretum with numerous walks/cycle tracks of varying lengths.
Benches available to picnic at, a caravan site to pitch up on, café and educational visitors centre.
The lack of litter, clear signage and docile squirrels are all plus points too 👍
C. C.
Lovely little walk with a park. Campsite and shop there which is handy for getting ice creams.
If you are after a long walk this is not ideal, but never the less it is a good walk.
Well kept grounds with a park to keep the kids happy.
A lake for fishing and feeding ducķs. Would recommend a visit .
D. P.
Camp site excellent,friendly staff.
C. B.
Had a walk there from home. Lots of water birds. Pity had not brought a camera! Did not see any deer, but lots of dog walkers with dogs off the lead, contrary to several notices.
R. L.
What a great place, take some food suitable for squirrels, they are very friendly, kids will love it. Great location if you enjoy photography, the evening light is amazing.
D. H.
Amazing country park. Has a great park, suitable for all ages. It has a lake which houses so much wild life! The squirrels are also very friendly. Providing you go in the day time there is also a lovely little cafe, just remember to take cash.
E. Y.
Beautiful park all year round, even in winter the park is drenched in colours. Walking there is invigorating and refreshing as the landscape is fantastic. Boots are essential after rain though, as there are puddles in some trails.
N. T.
Lovely park with a busy friendly play area for the children and picnic tables at one end and much quieter areas at the other as it is quite spacious. I even met a deer in a peaceful corner
S. J.
Beautiful park if you want a long walk
K. G.
We went for a walk here the other day and couldn't believe all the squirrels that were around. My 6 year old loved them
S. G.
Just bought a property down the road from the park. We have two dogs and this is the best place ever. No parking charges and dogs safe with no traffic. Can do a different walk every day. Used to go to Whisby but £2 to park and only one walk where you can let your dogs off their leads. In addition, there is a caravan park.
Our favourite place to go with our motorhome was Ferry Meadows at the Neme Valley, Peterborough. I think Hartsholme beats that but wouldn't seem much point going there to stay when we are only five minutes down the road🤗.
S. K.
A very pleasant park with reasonable facilities. The cafe is limited to take away only, due to Covid-19, and toilets are available. There is lots of space and a variety walks to suit anyone looking for a nice leisurely stroll.
M. G.
A wonderful place to go for a walk, do some bird watching or walk the dog. I got some nice shots in the park and when I took my parents for a walk, they fell in love with the park and now we always go for a walk when they visit.
The park has a cafe, a public bathroom, a children's play area and further in the park you can have a caravan or a tent set up and have a barbeque in an assigned area.
Overall a very nice place to hang out and have a pleasant, leisurely time.
N. C.
Another excellent visit. One path closed due to maintenance but didn't spoil our the trip. 3 mile easy walk around the lakes and paths with the dogs. Followed by a lovely hot sandwich and coffee sitting outside the cafe.
P. W.
Great for a walk on a cold winters day. Have been in the better weather. Nice place.
F.
A large lake dominates the park encouraging several species of birds, swans, various ducks and Canada geese. A well kept path circumnavigates the lake with a bridge half way round with seats in good places. It has a café, car park, toilets, children's play area, and room for families to sit, play or whatever on grass. O, yes and a caravan park within the park. Completely dog friendly too... Have fun!
G. C. T.
Great walking with the dog, Small cafe and toilets and free parking .Lake to walk around on paths or open land to let the dog off. Not massive place place nice enough
D. H.
Great Park, lovely walks and nice play area for little ones.
A. T.
Nice Park with lakes ideal location for a family picnic or just a stroll around the lake. The woodland daffodils were out giving a lovely yellow hue.
t. w.
Great place to visit lots of different walks, toilets available and a cafe on site. Well worth a visit
A. B.
I'm always impressed when I visit Hartsholme. Even in poorer weather its both picturesque and a real break from Lincoln's urban sprawl.
M. P.
Fab place to stay. Very well kept facilities and friendly staff
W. G.
Vast area around lakes with numerous trails to explore. Great for wildlife spotting including herons. Play park for the younger visitors. Bikes not allowed. Free car parking including overflow car park.
J. L.
What a scenic place to spend an afternoon. Flat walks that are wheel chair accessable. Soak up the scenery and stop by the cafe for a cool drink. It used to be a lot cheaper. I think it's a tad pricey but the place would miss it should it not be there. Lovely place for a picnic. Very tame squirrels and lots of wild birds to look at :) smashing place. Short circular walks or much further ones for the more energetic amongst us
M. R.
Lovely Park for a stroll. Visitor's centre highlights how much there is to see around you. Great activities for kids too. Park play area updated.
J. C.
Great place in Lincoln, you can easily walk 6 or 7 km around some beautiful lakes and through some stunning woodland. Nice playground and open grass areas close to the parking. Parking on site can be busy on event days but alternative parking is very close. Toilets and small cafe on site.
L. K.
A busy dog walking zone Sunday mid-morning. Dogs off leads, even in nature reserve. Nice enough park, good toilets and facilities, perfect for families with dogs, but wouldn't choose to go there for a quiet walk to commune with nature at weekends/holidays. Maybe it's better mid-week.
J.
My local country park and it's magnificent in all its seasons. Now as autumn leaves drift off the myriad of differing trees, we see nature as a glorious paintbox of colour.
Just wish people in pushbikes adhered to areas where they are not allowed, but also when you approach some from from behind , ring your bell? Or speak to say you're right behind ,as on many occasions they assume which way they can negotiate around you, one day they could knock someone over.
Do bikes even have bells on???!!! If so USE them!!
A. W.
Great park with miles of walks thru forest and alongside small lakes. Lots of bird to watch and things to explore for the kids. The carpark usually is packed but there's a 2nd overflow carpark about 500 meters down the road on the other side.
M. K.
Nice place with plenty of paths to meander around. Decent cafe.
M. E.
Lovely country park and good parking
T. J.
Great for dog walking, variety of different spaces- woodland, lakes, nature reserve and open spaces. Lots of different walks. Staff were helpful and friendly when we asked for a map. Very well kept, no litter, lots of dog poo bins.
C. W.
Beautiful, squirrels eveywhere. Autumn colours. Woodland walks for ages. Saw herons and moorhens,, two lakes and a river off them. Flat and easy walking for children and the elderly. Lots of seats to sit down when you're tired or just want to look at the view. Having lived in Lincolnshire for 30 years, I can't believe it's taken us so long to find this gem.
L. S.
Great place to come for a walk!
Easy ground with the paths, lovely lake views and very often come across various wildlife.
P. B.
This park has been absorbed into Lincoln as the housing estates have grown since the 1950s. Today the house is no longer there, having been demolished by Lincoln council in 1951, but if you know where to look you can still see traces of beautiful balustrades and stone steps in the grounds. The house used to overlook the lake and was surrounded by stables and other dramatic buildings many of which still remain. The campsite in the park is well cared for and busy during the season and it's necessary to book well ahead of you want to guarantee a pitch. The open grasslands are lovely and despite being well used always give areas of quiet should you want that. I'm all a great place.
G. S.
Free and expansive. Lakes, greens and woodlands for shaded dog walks, superb all round. Free parking at the time of posting. June 2021
P. L.
A large park with woodland, large lake and a stream running through it. It has a cafe, children's play area and some parking. Woodland is home to wildlife including deer and woodpeckers.
l. m.
relaxing place
A. C.
Very well planned park suitable for a dog walk. We stopped off on our way home from holiday and had a lovely walk
S. C.
Lovely walk around park with friends. Cafe and toilets on site..childrens play area and free parking. Just dogs spoilt it a bit having to dodge them running off leads and splattering us with mud as they squeezed past..
G. (. o. K.
Had a day trip to Lincoln, for us this was the absolute highlight such a beautiful park, our toddler son loved the playpark, seeing the geese and ducks, and the lake is amazing!
S. F.
Lovely and peaceful place for walking. Great campsite too and a cafe, fishing as well.
N. L.
Hands down the best local park with the best abundance of nature from water fowl to woodland birds , deer, snakes ,lizards ,frogs ,kingfishers ,egrets , herons, woodpeckers and Jay, go for a walk in there on a regular basis and you will see it all. Loads of walks and tracks ,great play park for the kids too.
G. B.
Impressive place with a playground for all ages and some walking paths, all summing up as free! Considering the fact that this place was free, it meant that it had to be less fun than other parks.
S. W.
A good, inexpensive family day out. We took a picnic so didn't use the cafe. Cafe is very expensive and has limited choice of food. Could benefit from more toilets throughout the park. Parking was very tight on a hot, sunny day.
L. C. P.
Beautiful lake and woodland area. Loads of wildlife , especially squirrels.
Beautiful play park. cafe and toilets too
c. r.
Beautiful setting, which is well maintained, with plenty of wildlife. A great place for families with a play area, cafe, picnic spots, a large lake to walk around and a campsite. Parking can be a squeeze, but these is additional parking across the road.
M. C.
Hartsholme park is a beautiful lake park, it has a very respectable outdoor play park, with some larger toys for bigger kids and parents to make use of.
The lake is small enough to slowly ponder as you weave through wooded paths Victorian walls and boat houses on route, at least, I think they are Victorian? "Must check". The cafe is basic, and offers simple snacks, Walls™ ice cream selection, cold and hot drinks, even coffee? No toffeefrappadappachino here.
It is a great way to spend a few hours without having to spend a huge amount.
Parking is free, and on a rather poor converted woodland floor. If that is full, just over the road is a larger and better surfaced car park.
Take along some feed for the ducks and swans, hunt for different fungi and insects, or picnic on the large lawn area whilst the kids play on the park.
A great day out for all ages.
t.
Very nice place to amble around on a sunny day with the pooches, looking at various ducks, geese, swans, other birds (yes, birds NOT birbs 😠), other wildlife, peaceful place to picnic and chill out.
G. O.
Good place to walk and enjoy.
G. B.
Really nice park to walk around whether or take or kids, your dog or just yourself and some friends to take in the nature and the wildlife around the lake. Good place to visit all year round but remember to wrap up warm in the winter!
G. F.
This country park is pretty much left unspoilt. There is a cafe and toilet, also a large area of grass to mess about on and a kid's playground too. A big lake/ river with plenty of birds and the squirrels are tame. The car park is terrible if it's been raining. Lots of standing water and poorly laid out.
G. W.
Great walk for the family. Park for the kids, cafe for drinks and snacks a d plenty of wildlife
C. M.
Such a beautiful park full of green open space and wildlife...a brilliant day out and the weather was glorious which made our trip over even more special. The play park was a decent size and there were plenty of benches and open space for picnics.
M. C.
Squirrels are very friendly. Facilities good. Lovely walk around the lake and a great find in dragging a stick across the white bridge.. So musical and fun for the kids. Only let down is the car park. Tricky when busy to negotiate.
j. f.
Amazing to have this hidden gem in the city.
D. P.
Absolutely fabulous park. Good play area for the children but can get very busy. Lots of beautiful walks
J. H.
Superb day out. Disabled facilities and parking excellent. Pathways accessible to wheelchair and scooters. Very good snack service.
D. L.
Good lakes and woodlands to walk through. Wildlife is good and the park is well looked after. Toilets are clean and the food is pretty decent with good choices and prices are not too bad. Caravan park there too so very handy for visitors to Lincoln.
N. B.
Great place to visit anytime of the year , why not try and see for yourself, you will be pleased you did , great place for all the family 👍
M. R.
We arrived at the park at 10am. Five adults, 2 children and 2 dogs.
We took the footpath that lead to Swanholme lakes and came out of the park on Doddington Road. After strolling down the road we re-entered the park next to the railway crossing. We walked back through the park via the sports field and the meadow. The walk took one and half hours and we all enjoyed the chilled out stroll in the sunshine
Two adults and one dog then left. Those of us remaining went to the children's play area. Our 2 and 5 yr olds enjoyed playing on the equipment before we had our picnic under a nearby tree.
Another adult and dog went home. This left my daughter, her 2 children and myself to take Georgie shorter walk around the smaller lake. Followed by an ice cream at the cafe.
A lovely way to spend 4 hours on a Sunday.
M. W.
Very good camp site.
J. F.
A beautiful place to visit for a day out, free parking, an onsite cafe. A visitor centre with the history and natural history of the park displayed. Over 280 acres of park land, with woodland, heath land, gravel pits, and open meadow. It's a great place to take the dog for a walk. Lots of benches and seats to have a picnic. Swanholme is a nature reserve that boasts superb views and wildlife. A great place to visit and spend the afternoon. Well worth the visit
N. O.
Considering it is close to Lincoln city it is surprising quiet. The country park is lovely and the cafe open from 9am. Plenty of takeaways that will deliver and a taxi into town is around £5. The site is extremely clean, tidy and well organised. This wasn't or first visit and won't be the last
G. C.
Always a good place to take the grandchildren to with allsorts of activities to do. This includes:
Playground
Playing greens
Nature trails
Lake (with a variety of water birds)
Picnic areas
What we call Squirrel Lane where you can hand feed them with monkey nuts
Also all the different small wildlife to be seen depending on part of park your in.
These are just a few of the activities at this great park
L. F.
Great for walking around with the family or a steady job around in a morning. Brilliant in the summer when you can get the picnic blanket out or sit to a table in the sun. The park is also great for the kids to enjoy.
C. W.
Great country park. Awesome to adventure with the children. In my advice stick to the thicker paths we got lost and we ended up walking 7 miles. With two children age 7 and 8 and it was 30 degrees this was not fun.
4 different people asked me if i was local or if i knew how to get out. There needs to be more maps or sign posts. Its a bit frustrating when u end up at a dead end when i thought you were nearly out!!
But overall very good place to a day trip
d. k.
Beautiful park well kept, lovely warden's. Just a shame my 8yr old son got beat up and thrown in nettles, and then on our leave we were confronted by people in a car verbally swearing and threatening my husband for driving the wrong way out of the park, when clearly it's ty the only way you can go with a caravan. Maybe there should be proper signs up.
R. D.
Beautiful place to walk and unwind
S. M.
Small but ample play area for toddlers.
Plenty of walkways giving views of bird wildlife.
Cafe on grounds with toilet facilities and seating. Close by is an enclosed picnic area but there are tables or seating throughout.
M. T.
First visit. Plenty of free parking. Beautiful country park with stunning scenery and lake. Plenty of walks
V. H. C.
So lovely to see the benefits of lockdown. Deer walking through the woods, herons close to the path. So many birds we've not spotted before. We do miss the chips though...............
J. C.
Really lovely place for a walk
c. k.
Lovely play area for the kids. Loads of open green spaces and the lake with swans, ducks and moorhens. Squirrels running around looking for food, had a briliant day with picnic.
D. D.
Great park with big lake , got kids play area ,great for bike ride .
Z. H.
An excellent country park with beautiful scenes and walking cycling tracks. Also has nice children play area/ rides.
A. K.
We love taking our Grandson here, he loves feeding the Birds & Squirrels (he's just 3) they come right up to you for food!! There's a Cafe too selling Meals and Snacks. There's a Caravan area too and a Lovely Lake full of Ducks and Geese - Brilliant here any time of the year!
M. N.
A lovely calm place to walk. Dog friendly. Lovely playground for the children. Plenty of seating to rest.
G. T.
Nice place, large enough for a good dog walk, take some Welly boots in Winter... parking seemed a little small but assume free as couldn't see any payment signs Understand there is an overflow down the road somewhere.
K. “. D.
A nice well maintained park with a lovely little cafe, public conveniences and a good sized children's play area. Great for a walk, a run, nature spotting and taking out the family.
D. D.
Real nice walk and tidy place. Only gave 4stars as the ramp on the way of carpark was to high , scraping peoples exhausts
j. j.
Great for short walk or general amble in a nice relaxed woodland atmosphere. Open area for a quick game and kiddies play area. Oh, and don't forget coffee and ice creams!
M. W.
Beautiful country park. Lovely amenities. Well worth a visit if you're in the area!
D. S.
Great for the kids/exercise.
R.
Brilliant weather added to the experience.
Cafe small, but well used. In
Some dog walkers could do with clearing up after the pets. Not the dogs fault.
T. U.
Kids love seeing the squirrels and feeding the ducks, play area can sometimes get busy especially when decent weather. Cafe is reasonably priced but not a massive fan of the toilets.
c. j.
A fantastic park massive and lots of bird and wildlife to see lovely lakes and wooded areas brilliant to take the kids as there's toilets and a place to eat and drink
J. P.
Lovely, spacious park which leads to Swanholme Nature Reserve. Excellent cafe and bowls of water for dogs. Very lucky to have this gem in Lincoln. Oh, and campsite too! Very well worth a visit!
K. C.
A beautiful park. The lake and island is full of wildfowl. The whole site is well kept and has a small cafe and toilets. There is also a children's play and lots of grass for ball games.
C. A.
I've been to Hartsholme Country Park working several times, and unfortunately it has seen better days. The gardens aren't really gardens, with limited flowers, however the lakes are quite beautiful. I didn't see any rangers when I was there, and it looked like the park in general could use more tending to. A lot of the photos linked to this place do not look like the park as well.
J. A.
Lovely place for dog walking
o. l.
Good to go at 6 in the morning
J. A. N.
Quite a nice place to go for a walk.
N. s.
This has always been a family favourite when me and my siblings were kids and now it's a favourite to take our kids! As always a beautiful park and a great visitors centre to inform the youngest to the oldest of generations
A. S.
Beautiful place and great for walks.
a. s.
Love the campsite everything you could want to visit the beautiful city of Lincoln, it's set in a nice country park with lovely walks and trees
M. H.
A lovely large open park with plenty of walks for diffetent abilities. Parking is free and the toilets are clean as is the small cafe. Easy to find it is a pleasant plave to spend a few hours.
N. S.
It's a lovely place. The only issue is during Covid, people aren't respectful. It is busy but some don't go out of their way to give people space.
Hartsholme should be visited but if you are looking to distance correctly, it won't happen here.
K. B.
Great place to visit for fresh air and a walk. Has a play park, cafe and toilets, good parking too. Highly recommended
A.
Lovely walk, took dogs for a lovely Sunday stroll, the weather wasn't pleasant but the park was absolutely rammed with people, lots of friendly dogs & owners
K. W.
Beautiful park. Great for kids, with a good playground area. There is some lovley walking around its pool and it is always filled with wildlife. Shop, public toilets and picknick space also, a very nice park.
z.
Very enjoyable couple of hours..staff in cafe very pleasant
P. D.
Very well looked after park with good facilities. A decent cafe and hook-ups for motorhomes, caravans and tents. Pleasant walks in the woods and around the lakes. The area around Swanholme was originally working gravel pits which have been abandoned since the late sixties allowing nature to take over
M. B.
Brilliant council run country park. Lots to do and see, with childrens play areas, a cafe, lakes and a camp site.
Room for everybody, but in the summer if the weather is good you need to be their early to use the car park car.
D. S.
Lovely park. Good facilities. A very pleasant place to take the dog.
J. P.
An excellent country park with enough space for everyone - and when you join that with the Swanholme area with the lakes to walk round and spot all the wildlife/birds etc - we are fortunate to have this space close to the city.
M. F.
nice park, free parking and plenty of it. plenty of squirrels and wild birds. spot on for a nice walk
L. B.
Fantastic place to walk, the park is a little small for the amount of kids that go in the summer and the cafe could do with more space inside and out. But great chips and cheese :)
K. F.
A good family walking place. Nice cafe and the fact you can help the wardens with litter picking is a great idea. The new park will be nice for next time we visit.
A. C.
Always a great place to walk no matter what time of year & if up early u may spot the deer
H. S.
Third time camping here. The toilets are immaculate with hot water. The pitches are level the ground a little hard. The cafe is great and reasonably priced. Nice walk thorough the woods to the Swanholme pub for tea. Could do with a gate for campers at the other end of the site near to the flats, as there is a shop, chippy, bus stop (26 into town) and Lincoln bikes which are great, two minutes walk away. A flat 10 minute cycle into town. Left the bikes at the quay side for a Wetherspoons breakfast. Highly recommended site in an excellent location.
R. C.
Lovely park several walks all enjoyed by us as a family unit. Very nice and recently refurbished park. Plenty of parking with extra spaces off site if need be.
I. R.
Nice walk, well kept
G. P.
Always a good stay at hartsholme. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Stunning location we love watching all the herons on the lakes. We will be back.
J. C.
Lots to do fall all ages and it's FREE :-D
B. S.
A nice clean open space for ramblers, day trips or wildlife/insect hunting. Maps could be more readily available of pathways & attractions as random boards dotted along routes can be easily misunderstood & gotten lost myself previously!
T. E.
Great walk around the lake.
C. L.
The gardens and lakes here are great. Me, the kids and dog had a very fun few hours exploring in the summer. Simply beautiful day out.
S. S.
Wonderful tranquil place
W. O.
Went to park with grandson about teatime Sunday afternoon. There was parking nearby. The play area was busy with smaller children. However there were some teenagers occupying some of the play slides which prevented other kids using them.
T. L.
Excellent park. Plenty of different routes. Would recommend the cafe has a LOT more outside seating.
R. A.
Great run around for the kids. Parking free. Lovely outdoor space. Squirrels are very friendly!
A. C.
Excellent and fun to be at benches and seating needs attention and toilet facilities but overall great place to visit .
T. M.
Very peaceful early morning to walk dog.
B. G.
A very big park with a fun playground. There is a bridge connecting 2 parts of this park, just so you know. There are very peaceful and quiet paths going through the park. There is also a camping site.
J. H.
Fab for a walk and for the kids to play.
Lots of gun was had by the 12 and 9 year old and the 28 and 52 year old!
C. H.
Beautiful place to visit, no matter the season. Cafe is "dog friendly" and offers good food. Cash only though. Park Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable about local wildlife.
S. K.
Great place, something for all. Walks round the lake, a lovely play area for the kids. We have just pushed a friend in a wheelchair round the lake; one or two tree roots to look out for!
P. S.
Lots to discover. Excellent walking trails. Good for dogs. Nice cafe with reasonably priced meals. Plenty of parking. Big lake.
N. W.
Could be 5 Star but there's no overnight supervision. Sadly we had some late night partying by neighbours old enough to know better. Good walking in the surrounding parkland. Shop nearby and buses into town.
S.
Gorgeous park, really well maintained and a full of wild life. Defo worth a visit
A. F.
