Reviews of Barnes Green
Lovely green area next to the pond. It is hard not to bump into lots of other lovely dogs so it is my dog’s favourite spot in Barnes. There is a swan pair who raise their cygnets every year, in the pond and you can often see them walking them over to where they nest by Beverly Brook. It is very cute!
The OSO arts centre is in the centre which usually has really beautiful seasonal floral arrangements on the outside. They have a nice cafe and sell glasses of takeaway bubbly! In the summer they did live jazz outside every Sunday and everyone sat around on the green with picnics.
I absolutely love barnes green going to the pond & having a picnic & just chilling out....Nice to meet friends. The downfall of Barnes Green! & the surrounding areas are there is a "LOT" of dog pooh. Why can't these people who leave their dog pooh all over the place pick it up? bag it & bin it? Surely they must no how dangerous it is to children & Adults?
Such a delightful place, traditional village feel complete with duck pond and several swans along with their young. Barnes manages to have a Baker, butchers, fish monger, the fantastic two peas in a pod for all your fruit and vegetable needs, haberdashery, an independent cinema along with charity shops, fabulous independent clothes and shoe shops for all the family, Barnes books, newsagents, pharmacy, dry cleaners, cobblers and gift shops. It has a Temple of the Green Circle, aka Starbucks along with Cafe Nero, a Gail's and several other independent coffee shops. A few pubs and restaurants, florists, along with beauty, hair and nail salons complete the picture as does the addition of Cook, Magic and Sparkle (M & S) food hall, a chip shop plus a Sainsbury's local. Folks are friendly and pass the time with each other. Wonderful to grab a drink and a snack, find a bench and while away the time to regain your Zen.
Beautiful place in London better than I remember it 10 years ago when I lived in London it now has a very trendy little theatre tucked away by the side of the amazing pond and collection of duck s and swans ideal for sitting outside with a glass of wine fab shops for clothes shoes bags try it soon love you all AJ Abbie xx
A very beautiful park with a large lake with many ducks, some swans and unfortunately a lot of seagulls. It has wide open spaces which are great for dogs and adjacent is an arts centre with cafe which provides snacks and hot/cold beverages. Cote has also recently opened up again and has large glass windows with Greta view into the park. Every now and then there is a antiques fair and live music. From here you can walk down to Barnes Common which is a large nature reserve. A great walk and day out.
Frequently cycle through here to get a coffee & enjoy a breath of London 'countryside' air. A little green paradise with stunning, ancient trees and swans usually performing to the gallery!
A beautifully green area thriving with life. Barnes Green is worth wandering around especially the lake which is graced by a number of swans and their many young. Other birds congregate in this area and can often be seen circling the island in the middle of the lake in large numbers.
Nice open space near Barnes Common. Includes pond which attracts plenty of wildlife.
We went to Barnes bookfest this morning. What an amazing lovely place.A very good range of local shops. Clean non graffiti area, polite friendly people, considerate drivers and you can park your car without being ripped off. And the place has a lovely safe friendly feel too. :)
Spent my morning at the park andvit couldn't be a better place to be at 😊⛲.
In the Springtime little flowers start to bloom. Lots of space to let the children run and still be able to see them. Lovely little coffee shops and a relaxing restaurant are all right here.
With the pubs,🍺 cafe's ☕and restaurants 🍲🍟🍕open it's nearly back to normal. The good times 🎉 are back I'd say and good riddance to the virus 👿 that has kept us all subdued for so long. May 2021
Barnes has a village feel about it. The green is close to the High Street, where independent shops can be found, the Butcher, Baker and candlestick maker springs to mind. Then the river front. Wonderful
Quite simply one of my favourite places in the world. The pond life is miraculous with a whole range or regulars and visitors including Mandarin Ducks. Plenty of benches and there is obvious care for the pond from the locals. Often there are ducklings or swanlets to be seen and there is plenty of space for people and dogs to enjoy the surrounds of the park. Just adore it.
A local gem with a theatre and cafe and beautiful well kept pond. Access across the common to Putney and the river too
Beautiful Village Green in a wonderful setting with lake, birds, spring flowers etc. A wonderful place for a coffee and lunch on a bench watching the world go by. Very peaceful.
Beautiful family orientated area lots of bird wildlife swans etc
Really stunning trees.. A lovely oak.. A few birch and weeping willow.. Quite a hit of dog poo by the big birch but still quite wonderful to see
Had a great walk along her towards Barnes pond where I had coffee with a friend and between us four dogs of all sizes. Plenty of greens pace for the dogs to explore and other dogs to see. Good to be out in more greenspaces more often and can walk for hours over here. Plenty of benches dotted around and places to pick up coffee.
Barnes Green is a lovely place, open space for children and parents to have a good time, with shop's a short walk away.
Quintessential English village on the outskirts of London - Beautiful in all seasons...
A quiet relaxing village green. A good place to bring kids to see the ducks in the pond.
I grew up in Barnes and loved the green, common and the great climbing tree. The old Post Depot is now a great cafe and art space. My kids loved visiting and it was a lovely trip down memory lane. Worth a visit and quieter now Hammersmith bridge is closed!
Well kept green space next to a variety of high quality places to eat and shop .
Beauty all around ...trees ,flowers, swans in the pond...
Benches to sit and delight in the views
Would benefit from a children's playground...suggestion from a child.
Always a lovely spot to be, whether enjoying a coffee by the pond or strolling into the woods over the brook.
Small pond area with lots of ducks. There's plenty of benches, so it's easy to find a place to relax. The green has lots of cafes nearby, so food is never too far off. A very nice place to visit.
Nice old pond in town centre.Ducks and swans, benches. Favourite with young mum's. As an Australian expat very quaint.
Lovely green space and "iconic" pond. The wildlife have only recently started working again after being furloughed for many months. A Coot said that it was a relief not to be working from nest anymore, as the WiFi was very unreliable.
Always love this place, often take the dogs here. Just be careful of some of the cyclists see it as a chance to race around on their mountain bikes without warning they are behind you. Otherwise very nice and varied with pleasant woods open fields and neat to a cute high street.
Where I volunteer. Barnes Pond area is full of interest, with many water fowl and a nice place to visit.
Such a happy pond of lovely locals here! So much nicer & friendlier than Chiswick, real solace can be sought here amongst its walks, trails and Riverside, plus just a stone's throw into central London by Train.
A chilled out park and pond. There's a good variety of water birds. I enjoy watching the swans that nest on the island in the middle of the pond.
Lovely village Park and Lake with a lot of native birds
Lovely quiet spot with a village feel to it with a nice pond in the middle kids love to go and feed the ducks there
Beautiful, archetypal London suburbia, large posh village - I live this life so pleasantly, live this life of luxury, lazing on a sunny afternoon.... in a paradise: go there!!! 2 railway stations
Barnes is a nice area with a beautiful lake. You can grab a coffee and enjoy a walk or even have a picnic when the weather is nice.
So near London, yet you get a feeling of village life, and London wt is round the corner.
Lovely place , nice green spot in barnes.
The place in summer has a lot of fairs and is great for families.
Beautiful park by the high street. Suitable for walking, jogging, cycling. There`s a nice little lake at the corner of this park with an island in the middle of it that is inhabited by birds. Also, it`s very close to coffee shops, grocery shops & restaurants. It`s possible to get a tasty coffee or refreshing drink nearby that You can enjoy here. It`s a great place for spending some time with friends, family, kids or pets.
Lovely atmosphere. Great little café on next to the pond, sells bird food for the ducks. Great to take children to
Nice common space. Lovely little pond with pleanty of water birds. My little girl enjoyed it very much.
Beautiful and unspoilt location with a pond. There were swans with their signets today. They seem very used to humans.
Nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Beautiful relaxed green with a well managed pond, swans, ducks, geese etc and cafe right on the green.
Lovely tranquil green with a pond. Quite a villagey feel for somewhere that is still part of London. Lots of benches for lingering
A beautiful green and pond in the heart of the Barnes neighbourhood flanked by stunning houses, an arts centre and a row of artisan and boutique shops.
Loveley park . It was Saturday so the food market was there. Lots of delicious meals and sweets.
Lovely place for small children to play and explore and grown ups to simply relax.
I love Barnes green with the duck pond and lovely houses.
Swan and ducks in the small lake, beautiful place to go relax or for a small picnic on the lawn under the trees, I loved this area
Barnes is a wonderful.place full.of character they have good events on the green during the year and at Christmas a fairy land. The OSO good cafe and has many interesting events. Jazz dance plays and concerts etc .Great place to.visit and.if you are lucky to live there I, would give.it 10
Nice and quiet today , people takeing it at a more relaxed pace no mad joggers and bikes flying past on the paths for walking
Barnes pond is lovely, anytime of day... Very tranquile and relaxing. Good variety of ducks, geese and swans to sit and watch. It's nice when they've got their ducklings and cygnets taking a walking trip around the pond, sometimes on Barnes high street!
Lovely place to go picnic with family they have river inside for kids to walk about or cool down when is too hot
I don't mind dogs but some people need to clean after them and keep them on a lead Speacially when you have little one and worried about dogs
Should have public toilets too
My friend child was playing football with friends met there the ball went into the bush and luckily she went to get it as lots of thorns around and found disgusting couple making up honest out in public where there are kids around need to be sorted
Lovely place to visit and relax. A beautiful setting and very well maintained. I visited the summer fair last weekend which is held annually...a fantastic mixed selection of stalls. Something that all ages can enjoy with a great selection of food and beverages available....Definitely a superior fair to most I have attended. I would highly recommend.
A lovely family place and a lovely cafe on the green and a pub "The Sun" just over the road
Amazing and relaxing place with a lot of shops in the near central street.
It's nice place to feed the ducks.
I cannot in all honesty give this more than a three, remembering as I do what was better about it in times past. It still has a magnificent chestnut avenue. The Methodist Church still lowers over the scene in incongruous red-brick splendour.
But the level of the pond is lower since it has been repaired, so you cannot see the sheen on it when you cross the bridge from the common. The pond itself is smaller, so small that it could be a water feature in an admittedly very large and grand garden. And the island is bigger (this is a very old complaint) without being in any way better.
On the other hand it's actually used much more (unlike the common), by sunbathers, by rather ostentatious 'good' dads playing with their kids and increasingly by larger groups of special occasion picnickers. That's all good.
Only the totem pole is irredeemable vile and inappropriate. And yes I do know that it is meant to be to the benefit of some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
Wonderful to see a wide selection of ducks, swans, geese and birds, even a heron nestling on the island in the middle of the pond. Great selection of cafes and restaurants nearby and 3 pubs..all within walking distance.
Nice, well maintained green area and pond
Nice place, green and peaceful.Git a coffee shop near and Barnes high street.
Very popular with Barnes parents and children. Pond well looked after-swans and Egyptian Geese are biggest draw but lots of smaller wildfowl as well. The green is big enough for many families to picnic and/or play games.
💕
That was Barnes Fair - a great fantastic wonderful day you must see it before you die.
Great place for a nice afternoon with the kids, they love the pond
It's a small park with a duck pond close to Barnes High Street.
Simply Brilliant, perfect for a weekend afternoon walk
A pond with waterfowl is the focus of this small irregularly shaped Green transversed by a trickling brook leading onto Barnes Common.
Maintained to a reasonable standard, and moderately appealing but not really convincingly so.
An arts and a separate social centre are situated on the grounds.
Fabulous! Wonderful array of fresh, organic foods, beautiful lake filled with swans and their cygnets, ducks and their ducklings, happy children playing in a Nature-environment - Saturday is the day to be there.
Beautiful little green, especially so with the setting winter sun brushing over the upper boughs of the leafless treeline
A pleasant place to walk on a warm summer's day. Beverly Brook is clear and clean. Barnes Pond is opposite the Sun Inn, a great place to refresh yourself.
Bounds Green is one of the bus local parks in the area beautiful escape landing, and since the pandemic during the weekend there will be a live music here and there which top it up
Beautiful and peaceful place immersed in nature. Looks like a fairy tale. You can go for a relaxing walk or just chill at the pond.
Lovely place to visit just wished the pubs were open, oh well coffee next to the pond was nice .
Lovely place for a day out in nice weather. Sit on the grass or bench, with your dog or kids.
Really pretty and quaint. Good coffee shops near by and the sun Inn is a great pub. Good to bring kids to feed the ducks and play in the park
Very good park, but my negative issue is people letting dogs loose instead of being on leashes as recommended. Because of that I give 3 star
A lively, atmospheric, beautiful village in London.
Lovely little space for watching ducks and similar.
Great area for walks, cycling and skating around feels really rural and is safe and quiet.
Love going for my exercise to Barnes Green. Lucky to live so close to this wonderful space.
Nice place to walk
Very serene and peaceful part of London. Full of character and feels like a community with lots of people doing various activities on the park.
Picturesque and often hosting community events - farmers' market, annual fayre etc. A nice walk with large maps on stands for guidance, and a lovely pond with geese and swans.
Very pleasant even in the rain. Feels safe & friendly, plenty of families out having fun, nice places to eat, great little cinema
Just somewhere to SIT for my break between the major University boat races when fundraising for Chiswick RNLI. Lots of ducks, geese and other birds looking for food. A very restful half hour.
Pleasant quiet area. Good place to sit. Plenty of room to isolate from others.
Lovely stretch of park connecting various parts of Barnes and leading to Barnes Common, Putney Common which then merges into Wimbledon/ Richmond Park. Just a few minutes from a quiet stretch of the river Thames and some riverside pubs. Hammersmith Bridge is 20-30 minutes walk away along the tow path. A convenient West Central London leisure time destination.
Not to forget the Pond in the Green with the ubiquitous bird population.
Nice and secret place...
Lovely wee green with a delightfully idealic village pond which is very well cared for which is noticeable because of the waterfowl that make their home there.
Barnes Green and the nearby Barnes high street are a lovely place. Provides a nice relaxing peaceful "day into the high street"; a refreshing alternative to other nearby high streets.
Beautiful medieval village green with duck pond and coffee shops
Excellent green space in one mod London’s nicest suburbs.
Barnes Green is kind of my local park I do do a lot of walks there, it's beautiful, serene and very clean please keep it that way
Very picturesque and lovely for a stroll. The flea market on Saturdays has some interesting stuff but also a lot of tat.
A peaceful, reflective space in the heart of Barnes. Plenty of benches to sit and watch the world go by !
Great place to walk around and get some fresh air
This centre has been the heart of the community, supporting the elderly. It holds regular talks, and functions.
Both Fish and Age UK share the building.
Lovely, peaceful greens. The small pond is the crowning glory
Beautiful pond and always busy with wildlife .
Great relaxed environment for couples or with kids. Lovely food pptions all around
Wonderful place, relaxing. Perfect to spend hours lost in nature.
It is a pretty nice place. There were plenty of dog-walkers and moms with their children.
Lovely place to sit on the water chat with friends or bring the kids and even a romantic stroll lots of nice little shops and pubs
Great walks in the morning. Narrow paths so sometimes it is hard to navigate when another person is walking towards you.
lovely place for walking the dog and relaxing in general
Super tranquil space close to a community of village shops
Magic glorious sunshine event no drunks no.louts pure polite families awesome shame some stalls overcharge for the best necessity "WATER"

Great little place for a stroll or a picnic. Real little haven a stone's throw away from busy Putney.

Very nice place a nice food and drinks. I will be there again.
Pleasant local green space with pond and ample benches.
I love the farmers market, and the vintage stalls they have round the pond.
Lovely walk at any time of day and year
One of the few places left where you can go for a short walk and unwind.
Lovely place with the pond and regular markets and fairs
Overcrowded for 'lockdown' but terrific flat white from OSO counter.
A very pleasant place in summer. A pub opposite, plenty of food shops close by and the fair in July.
Its a very nice place to walk around, you can find a quiet place to have a picnic and forget about the worlds troubles.
It was the Fayre, so very busy. Could have done with a few more seating areas...

(Translated) Generally I love this area of London. And the Park near the pond is especially pleasing. It's very good to walk with your granddaughter. The three-month-old granddaughter in Barnes Green slept for as much as 1.5 hours, although she usually sleeps no more than 25 minutes. The atmosphere of the park seemed to have a pacifying effect.

Moje ulubione miejsce w Barnes.
