Reviews of Burgess Park
A. A.
Excellent location for picnics, walks, exercise, pets and for the views. Sunrises and sunsets are really superb here overlooking the water and bridge. Loads of ducks and swans for children to see. Huge park with multiple entrances, which sometimes can be home to local fun fairs and circuses. Good for cycling, skating and kite flying also. Best enjoyed during spring and summer.
S. H.
Nice park in London with a pay area for the kids and for the older kids , a lively little cafe that does a nice brunch menu and great for just getting out and out in the day .
At night however you need to be careful as lots of people hanging around drinking so stay clear If you can at night.
b. l.
This is my favourite park in SE London, especially to walk my dogs in. The grounds team do an amazing job here & the wildflowers grow to huge heights. Very Impressive. It is a very varied park too, with areas for BMX biking, a lake- with ducks & swans & daily fishing passes are available. They have open spaces, wooded areas, BBQ areas, manicured gardens, a children's play park, a cafe & loads of parking available too. They also host festivals, funfairs & the circus when in town. 5 stars for sure!!'
D. S.
Great big park, friendly enough crowd that seem to be around there. Love the pond, I enjoy running around it. Also a big fan of the Burgess park run.
Lots of dogs and dog owners, again, from my experience all friendly. Took my cat there today and he had a lovely time. Some cyclists can be a bit rude, as they think the oaths belong to them, but the majority are friendly and it's still a lovely park
Y. Y.
A wonderful park, peaceful. I visited late in the afternoon when the light is so special. Worth it at any hour.
M. A.
Nice and soothing place. Lake in the middle is very entertaining with all kinds of birds. Found an Egyptian goose all the way from Cairo😁😁. Felt like home.
C. E.
I went for the funfair in burgess Park and it was so fun. However Burgess Park has a calm serene environment for relaxation, sports and outing activities, would definitely recommend this place
P. C.
A large park with something for everyone. Lovely place to walk, run, play or relax. I particularly like the wildflower areas, which attract abundant wildlife.
C. G.
Lovely to walk through Burgess Park. Beautifully laid out and landscaped in places. The lake is teaming with different birds and obviously popular with people fishing.
A nice big children's playground. Tennis courts very busy. It is a very popular place for a Sunday stroll.
M. E.
Lots to see at burgess Park. Take a picnic and make a day of it . Also has 2 cafes ,2 play areas . Wild prairie.
Y. R.
Nice Park with large area and plenty of sporting options including tennis, table tennis, football, volleyball, etc. There also a moderate sized lake with ducks and plenty of other birds around the park. Can be a bit crowded on the weekends.
H. B.
Huge park with kids play area. Has a cafe which is convenient when you want refreshments. During hot days you can bring your own bbq to the park. Currently works are taking place for a community sports centre which will include 3 football pitches.
Good park for everyone
E. F.
Lovely location for a walk or jog, great for the kids to feed the ducks 🦆
M. J.
This park is one of the largest in the area, similar in size to St.James' park and Green Park combined. The main feature is the lake, which is available for fishing on a day licence. To the east you find a cricket pitch, football pitches and a sports centre with outdoor table tennis tables. The south end has a large children's play area, cafe, and more. Very popular for walking, cycling, rollerskating, picnics and more.
H. T.
A super lovely Park with a nice lac and sweet coffee !
N.
Lovely place to go on walks. You can even fish and camp by the lake (provided you have a daily permit)
I. G.
Very nice park with lake on the middle. Lots of space to sit and ride on bike. There is a kids playing area at one end as well as coffee shop. One minus though lots and I mean lots of people there on Saturday afternoon when I visited. I had to be extra careful not to jump on anyone. But overall worth visiting.
S. P.
It's a nice park. Plenty of space for bike rides, walks, children to play, to sit. A nice lake with plenty of ducks. The playground for over 6's is ok. Lovely staff at the cafe, food is nice, prices are ok - probably average for the area.
I.
Its a nice park for strolling / walking/jogging /taking kids out for play.
Currently there is no BBQ allowed but earlier it was allowed. There is a lake with fountains and ducks in it. The surrounding path is a bit slippery during rainy / snowy days so be little careful.
It also has a sports center , sports grounds for variuos sports, BMX tracks , cycling route and park cafe.
Overall a nice place to visit for all..

Burgess Park is accessible, spacious and hosts many facilities that cater to different age groups. The BMX centre is very popular with the young ones, while there are several exercise and gym equipment dotted all over the park. Burgess Park is an oasis of tranquility right in the middle of South East London.
A. M.
Nice park in South London with two play ground for kids, tennis courts. There is a lake and many ducks and a few swans. The existing football pitch as been removed, and works are being carried out at the moment. Not sure for what to do
p.
Nice and pleasant place to go for a walk or run. There's even few small hills if you fancy attacking on them gradients.
S. C.
Everytime I visit this park there's something new... I love seeing the birds around the lake, sometimes a heron. And people skating, cycling, running, skipping, walking, sunbathing, footballing, yoga-ing, dog-walking, picnic-ing, etc etc etc.
M. O.
Big spacious park that's stands out in any of the seasons.
O. G.
It was breathtaking I did a 5k walk 🚶♀️ with a group and my friend Jane it was lovely
S. B.
A surprisingly nice urban park with many different parts and styles. It's unusually long and thin for a park but that means it's character changes as you move east-west, with a lovely little lake at one end and some nice old almshouses in meadow like surroundings to the landscaped mounds and criss coss network of paths on the western end.
It's a nice place to spend some time people watching as you'll see the full range of London era and 101 different accents.
O. B.
Big efforts to improve this park, along with a (much needed) regeneration of the area. Staff there are doing a great job but it doesn’t seems to be enough of them for how big the park is, or that they have the appropriate budget.
Biggest problem here however, are some of the irresponsible users leaving all of their rubbish behind, especially on spring/summer months, and the fairs destroying the grass.
J. B.
No park like it in London...sounds of afrobeats, salsa BBQ smells floating around and muticoloured kids gleefully running around having fun. Huge park covering 3 districts - I think! a lovely reasonably priced cafe, a lake, tennis, play park, gardens you name it. If you really want a representation of the true London you must visit! Come early to get a picnic spot, as huge as it is, it gets packed on hot days
F. O.
A pleasant surprise: neat park with exciting paths on small hills as well as standard road for cyclists and less adventurous pedestrians (and don't forget the BMX track!). Don't feed ducks bread; oats/lettuce/cooked rice are way healthier and prevent rat infestation.
M. W.
Enjoyed a nice afternoon here a few days ago. The river is calming and there are plenty of benches to sit.
J. H.
One of the largest park in South London. In Camberwell area. Big playing field for running, cycling, ball games, picnics and birthday at the park celebration. It has tennis court, football pitch and a sports centre. You can do fishing as well. It has a big garden area. Also located inside is Peckham BMX Club. Definitely worth a visit.
L. S.
One of my favorite parks in London hands down. Range of facilities from table tennis tables, to the pond for fishing and good nice hills to perch on and enjoy some summer sun. It has almost everything you could want. Highly recommended
J. S.
It is nice and still a new park! But is lacks something. It has only 2 cafes for that huge park. They could explore more cafes with events and DJs. Have esplanade’s during good warmer months. It should have more variety of sports such as an outdoor climbing wall, padel, squash, basquetebol, dedicated space for yoga and Pilates. So if it is to promote outdoor activities it should create more areas. The park is big enough. It should have also more trees and features. Sometimes it feels empty. So my opinion is 3stars because is good with potential but not good enough when compared to others.
J. J. E.
I especially think that this is a great park to go and enjoy with good friends, have a drink and enjoy its view, its trees and its paths, it has a beautiful and large lake located in the middle of the park, it is perfect to go for a walk in bike or go to have a barbecue, you must bear in mind that in summer it is perfect to enjoy the sun, the people and eat a good ice cream, I live nearby and we frequent it a lot, I like to go sit in one of its pleasant seats and do a call, smoke a cigarette, or simply listen to music while I look at the sky and its landscapes, from various points of the park you can see the great buildings of the city. from London, it is perfect to go and enjoy a little if we are in a good mood, and if we are not then it is good to relax a little and free ourselves from the stress of the monotonous London life, go ahead and meet it, you will surely like it if you go with your friends or with your parents. People usually do a lot of exercise there, they are usually jogging or doing circuits, there is also a place to do a gym and things like that outdoors, you will surely enjoy it, it is a beautiful and attractive park, 7 minutes by bike from the station Elephant and Castle, I'm sure you'll want to go back and stay there with a couple of beers, or why not a six pack!
A. B.
A chilled evening stroll in the old faithful Burgess Park. My lady and I took a small picnic and had a lovely walk around the pond and through some of the undergrowth. Lots of runners, skaters, cyclists and walkers out tonight and a really sweet vibe. Never thought I'd find myself recommending a park, but if Google hassles you to do it using push notifications, well... here we are. A remarkable green space slap bang in the middle of concrete inner SE London. Nice.
S.
Burgess Park - A great place to be.
Honestly one of my favourite Southwark parks.
Always clean, plenty of space and never feels to crowded. Has a BBQ area with designated BBQ rack which has unfortunately been cornered off as out of use at present. That didnt stop people from bringing there own and ligthing the fire anyway.
There is a cute resoviour with ducks and fish.
Benches throughout. Well trodden paths to walk lesuirely through.
J. S.
Burgess Park used to be a very busy and industrial area, full of houses and factories. It was heavily bombed in the Second World War. The Surrey Canal used to cross it but it was closed in the early 70’s.
N. M.
It's a great place for relaxing on weekends and holidays. We have an artificial lake where you can go and feed beautiful birds. It has table tennis courts, lawn tennis courts, football pitch and many others. You can also jog in the park.
T. R.
First time I have walked the whole of Burgess Park the bit between peckham library & Trafger Avenue is narrow cyclist race through nearly hitting you but not all cyclist are bad as some do ring a bell & slow down so thanks to them. The bit between Tranger Avenue &old kent road & camberwell road is big nice park with cafe, BMX track, pond, play area, table tennis, tennis courts, exercise equipment, fantastic views over the city
P. N.
This is probably one of the best park right in the middle of a suburb! A great place to stroll, jog, and just spend good quality time!
S. W.
Burgess Park hasn't really been my 'goto' S. London park... previously I've been a big fan of Brockwell Park and Ruskin Park... the latter probably mostly due to convenience/proximity...
however... I just had an early morning walk around the hilly, perimeter trail parallel to Albany Rd and the wildflowers are lovely... I've got an app which tells me what they are... but they're very pretty...Chicory... actually I can't remember the others... enjoy...
A. H.
It great as the is so much to do. It has tennis courts, bmx biking, cricket field, man made lake where people with permit fish, bbq area with tables and chairs. In the lake there are lots of ducks and other birds. It has hills which are quite high as they are man made too.
M. P.
Great park, large. With lake, hills and woodland. Plenty of picnic areas and tables
C.
Burgess park is one of the best parks in south London, it has such a large amount of variety from tennis courts, a BMX track and a lake it really has something for everyone. In summer there is a public BBQ area that is always busy. There is a Park run in the park every Saturday morning that brings out loads of runners. The park also has some wildflower gardens with walking paths so you really feel like it is miles away from central London.
F. P. t. L.
Lovely and relaxing park with a lake in the middle.
Excellent for children and adults.
Plenty of space for picnic, bbq and outdoor gym.
D. W.
Suitable for picnic, football, skating and a relaxing place with friends and family. You can also do fishing for fun from the pond but you need to release the fish. It is located between wolworth rd and old Kent road making it accessible from both side of the park . There also 2 mosques near by if you want to pray.
N. H.
Amazing park for the local community to unwind, with Tennis courts, football court, BBQ and nice routes for runners.
G. B.
Lovely park. Cafe, art classes, temporary fair ground. Bmx track. Lovely flowers.
M.
At 56 hectares, Burgess Park is Southwark's largest park. The park stretches from Camberwell and Walworth in the west to Peckham and the Old Kent Road in the east.
Burgess Park is a young park, built between the 1950s and 1980s. It was developed as a result of the Abecrombie Plan for open spaces in 1943. The area was once home to factories, densely populated streets and the Surrey Canal before it was badly bombed during World War II.
The park was named after Councillor Jessie Burgess, Camberwell's first woman Mayor in 1973.
H. H.
The public toilets smelt bad but we're useable. I handed in a security guards phone to the cafe on the 3rd june. Did he get it back?
c. k.
Beautiful scenery, swans, ducks, good place for fishing, plenty of wildlife such as cheeky little squirrels and a massive lake, great for a walk of cycle around, going for a run or just somewhere peacefull to sit in quiet contemplation
E. C.
Nice Park guys 🙂 lots of things to do, good for skate and roller blading, lots of people doing it, you can do btt as well, there is a track there.
Also amazing to enjoy the sun and have a picnic 😊
Cheers
S. M.
A beautiful park in the heart of Camberwell! There really is something here for everyone, whether you'd enjoy a game of tennis, a spot of jogging, cycling, walking, relaxing, or exploring. Also has a huge bmx track, a wonderful view of the Shard and a huge lake full of fish, birds, swans and I even spotted a turtle!
a.
It’s a great park filled with large lakes and ponds. Although you are not allowed to feed the pigeons, you are able to look at them centimetres apart without them flying away. It’s really nice just to have a bbq near the lake and enjoy the view as many others have done. There is a small bridge in the middle of the lake which you can walk across to reach the other part of the park, tremendous view. Absolutely recommended.
V. A.
Large park, great to have a large green space in this urban environment. There's also a parkrun here every Saturday at 9am
A. A.
A good local park with varied facilities.
We met there as a place to meet whilst observing social distancing.
There are enough park benches and places to sit to make this easy to achieve.
There is a lake, which was a very busy focal point. There are places where you can BBQ.
The grass was sun scorched, but that's was just a reflection of the great weather we are having.
Good family park.
M. L. O.
It's really nice to make barbecues. You can enjoy the day with the family dogs are allowed. Its clean fresh I did love it.
O. P.
Huge park with water, fountain and many areas for different sports. It's quite busy here but still enough space to find quiet space to enjoy book
P. J.
My favourite park in south east London. Its huge and its very popular with cyclist. It also contains a large lake with swans, geesse and ducks. Perfect for fishing also. It extends through an old canal pathway towards Peckham
P. K.
Its lush green, huge and provides all types of environment for all types of activities. Different zones for BBQ, fishing, playing, relaxing, running, cycling
G. R.
The path through the Park follows the old Surrey Canal! Lovely large Lake and Wild Flowers and 2 Cafes!
M. B.
A great park in inner south London. Lots of space. Large lake. Cafe. Recently re landscaped with wooded areas and new hills. There's tennis courts, a quiet formal garden and a skatepark/bmx place.
R. R.
A big park with lots of naturalized areas. Hills to climb, gardens to meander through, as well as tennis courts, table tennis tables, exercise machines, playground and BMX track. There is a cafe and toilet facilities.
D. K.
Great Park with barbecue area, lake, children's playground, cafe and hidden small amazing garden behind the cafe.
V. M.
Nice park but many drunk people and dangerous. They must improve the security
H. W.
A new park built primarily on old terraced housing, run down industry and a significant portion of the Surrey canal (which was diverted to make the lake) one of my favourite london parks.
Also modern toilets nowadays woooo
S. M.
Such a delight to explore on a sunny day! Beautiful lake, plenty of friendly ducks and swans, and lots of options for sports. Don't miss the lovely hidden retreat Chumleigh Gardens!
R. M.
Great place. It should has more cheirs and flowering trees. Anyway, it's great, principally after the refurbishment.
S. S.
This is a very nice park, it used to host eid celebrations before the pandemic and we have truly missed it and are hoping it will return next eid.
C. A. A.
Very big park and good place for children playground...
T. M.
Lovely park! Really big, two kid's playgrounds, a pond with ducks and Canadian geese and lots of spots to sit down and chill. Would recommend. Summer or winter!
J. o.
Lovely park, especially for running. BBQs, 5 a side and even fishing on offer. Photos taken during Eid summer 17
S. W.
Great park always well kept , i use the park for running and dog walking , lots of different routes to take the pond has swans and ducks. Theres a bbq area - only thing its lacking i a dog exercise area because there is alot of dogs off the lead in there but nowhere they can run in a secure section. There are rats near the bridge which does need investigating. Overall decent park which we will continue to use and enjoy. Also do the park runs in here which are great fun
J. B.
I particularly like the large pond area of Burgess Park. Anglers can do fishing if they hold a licence (I think). Over the years frequented predominantly by South American families who visit Burgess Park regularly especially for large family BBQs but on a recent visit (Saturday 14th Aug 2021), I noticed an increase in number of other ethnicity groups most noticeably Nigerians and those from the Caribbean. An impressive mixture of cultures, music and food. Very laid back vibe for an area which straddles: Camberwell, Peckham and Old Kent Road
I. E.
A neat park . Suitable for jogging , picnics and fun day out with the family . Its strategically located and fairly quiet
A. A.
Well maintained park, beautiful pond and huge area for exercises or just a picnic
A. B.
Love everything about this park - so many interesting spaces to walk, hang out and also a lovely cafe.
B. S.
Nice place to workout activities. Beautiful lake and tree's.
d. s.
Burgess park kids great big park separated into two hearts which basically any great great group or big family that's welcome to go there have fun and have a great day
S. B.
Lovely place to spend your day. Kids play area is really nice
This park allows you to do bbq as well.
S. L.
Lovely park with very special lake and some gorgeous gardens ❤ little too crowded on paths at the weekend for my liking
R. B.
Nice Park. They are currently (early March 2022) filming there. The set looks like a camp for migrants or survivors following some disaster.
J. H.
I visited and took a walk with my children. My youngest one was scooting. I also meet there on Wednesdays for prayer with some local Christian friends
S. D.
Beautiful park and lovely and relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy a nice barbecue with music and salsa dance which was a plus
T. n.
Great big open park in South London. Tennis courts, playground, pond, cafe and BMX track.
S. H.
Great park. Well looked after by patrons and visitors. Lots of spots for fishers and a really cool BBQ space which I've never seen in London before. Very impressed. A shame it's out of action due to covid19
R. T.
It's been very nice to see what the council has done with a once forlorn and bereft park in the middle of the worst estates in Southwark to a beautiful haven for "all" people not just the privileged.
M. L.
Nice place to walk and relax
G.
Peckham bmx track is a really good track for both learner and experienced riders. The training sessions are brilliant, they teach the kids discipline and respect for others.
A. Y.
To me the best thing that was ever built in south east London. Shame the council doesn't do more for the anglers.
K. L.
Nice and clean, kids enjoy going there. Close to shops and there is a cafe in the park.
A. M. P.
A place to experience the magic of nature.
K. D.
Didn't walk through the whole park, but the section where I sat was really nice.
R. V.
Beautiful park with gorgeous features. Totally exceeded expectations!! Went there for a BBQ on a Sunday and it was stunning!! They even have a public toilet, which was very handy. Plenty of green spaces and even a few BBQs there already as part of the park. Car park was full, but the roads nearby had plenty of spaces. Very accessible by bus too, for the friends that were not driving! Children's area was very nice too. Throughly enjoyed the whole afternoon there with friends.
A.
Full of wildlife especially in the huge pond. Great for walking but not after dark.
a. y.
Great pond. Excellent BMX track. Beautiful in summer and winter alike.
p. m.
A very lively and interesting park with a nice pond. Totally recommend it.
K. B.
Went with my grandson for a walk in Burgess park in the evening. It was great, people still social distancing. The weather was cool just right for the walk. 😇
J. z.
Lovely park. Very good place to go with family.
L. B.
Very pretty park, just not very pretty seeing some people fishing with tents! Don't think I would walk through in the dark but a great place for a picnic on a Saturday afternoon.
s. m.
Went to use my rc car, drone and boat in the park. It’s was a amazing experience. Definitely would recommend going to the park
Y. U.
Multicultural vibes throughout.
Well looked after park with a pretty lake in the middle.
l.
Nice and reasonably big park just 40 minutes walking from southewalk. Has some medium lake inside where ducks splash. Good for jogging or running and play outside sports. Dedicated BBQ area with proper seating.
J.
Great place to walk in and now has another cafe at the Camberwell road entrance, just past the tennis courts. Great coffee and extensive menu.
J. X.
Lovely sunny day. Very busy. Fun Fair is very busy- queue very long.9
T. K.
Big park, plenty of space to sit around and relax, has a large lake with ducks, swans, fishes and even terrapins living here too. A small area dedicated for outdoor BBQ, a perfect place to have a family BBQ and to socialise with other people.
There is a big playground nearby for children to have fun with a variety of entertainment so that it never gets boring.
O. “. A.
Gotta love this park. It accommodates for everyone, especially if you have dogs. Great walks that feel as if you're in the country side!
B.
As well as relaxing in the sunshine, this park has so many things to do: fishing, bmx, tennis, football, rugby, table tennis… lots of wildflower areas and things like that. Also it’s s really good park for running and you can do lots of interesting 3/4/5km circular runs. I just wish the council would do more to tackle the very large groups of people who use the bbq area and leave it looking like a landfill site afterwards - what an awful example to their kids and an awful way to treat a public space.
A. G.
A great park for walking and running, fab coffee at the Tennis Cafe!
C. R.
An amazing place to take your kids there
R. D.
Great outdoor space for picnics and barbeques. This park is a large one and has a large pond, children play area, cafe and trees for shade. It is also a popular location for funfair and party events. Great space for families with children.
L. L.
One of the best parks in SouthEast London!
Massive space and you can spend a whole day, walking, running and cycling. Nice views of London city too.
A must if your passing 👍🏽
R. T.
Burgess Park was excellent today. Great weather and great people! Also look out for the ducks!
S. H.
local park. nice and big space. many joggers and cyclists. Large lake with plenty of ducks, geese and swans. Two Children's play area with one for under 5's sand pit with a near by cafe. Car park with 4 hours free parking. Park is relatively tidy.
M. F.
Lovely to see different trees budding/blossoming. Lovely to look out on the water too.
M. Y.
Lovely park and safe enough for an evening stroll.
C. M.
Well maintained grounds, great space for everyone
C. F.
Went here for my son to have a rugby tournament. I would never have known it was here. A good choice of different sports facilities. I will visit again.
Z. G.
A big park with many entertainment facilities. Very relaxing atmosphere.
A. G.
I really like this park. It’s developed in length and gives the possibility for a nice long walk around. It’s nice as it’s quite various. On one side there is a lake, there are small hills around and a couple of playgrounds and gym machines. A big green space around the center of the park looks great for gathering. Lovely place to have a walk and chill.
D. C.
Huge park. Nice vibes. Just need clearer directions to the BBQ area
S. R.
Right in the middle of the Old Kent road area, Burgess Park is easily accessible...
A great place to have a family bbq or picnic...
With a kiddies play ground, a cafe, a toddler's playground and sand pit and an ice cream van that is there every day during the summer.
Burgess park also has a football pitch and loads of green space to relax or play games..
There is also a small man made lake when lovers of fishing can have a relaxing day and train in the art of fishing.
C. M.
Great find of a park! Plenty of space and amenities
T.
Beautiful park with great scenery and views. There are fishing spots located around the lake and there are many different places to play sport. There are three Astros available for use and a caged section for multi-sport use. Hill areas offer great views for photography and art.
M. R.
So I hit the park at 5am and took these wannabe arty photos...
J. I.
Very large green space for lots of people and outdoor activities like cricket, volleyball and football. Smooth paths for biking, scooting, skating and jogging. Wonderful fun fair event too👍😁
C. G.
Very nice big park also for children

Chumleigh Gardens (Burgess Park)
Lovely and peaceful atmosphere.
m. s.
I love to walk through the walking path among the goarges cherry trees, that's kind of walking in heaven♥️
R. L.
An absolute gem of a park, little known outside this corner of south London. Areas for barbecuing and its location in one of London's most vibrant and multicultural working class districts make this a really magical spot on a summer's day.
You'll remember why you love London, in spite of its flaws, all over again.
R. S.
Amazing, you have plenty space for doing exercise and bike
S. C.
Good place to relax and or feed the ducks, swans etc. Only downside in the summer many many people take the Micheal by blasting out music past 11pm, awful for the few homes by one entrance to park. They even have people partying in their street bringing tables and chairs while having barbecues.
R.
A huge park located in Southeast London. A good place for kids espescially in the summer.
N. B. G.
I love this park so much it's a nice decent size for a morning walk!
K. T.
Try to avoid on sunny summer weekends. Millions of people fight for barbecue places.
M. h.
Patch adjacent to the old Passmore Edwards library Wells Way and Neate Street (now a pathway). Friends and I from the nearby Gloucester Grove Estate, played cricket in the summer holidays against Post office /BT workmen, in the late 70's early 80's.

A lovely peacefull park things for all families...
L. K.
Lovely Park. Great place to spen Sunday Afternoon
M. O.
A spacious, well kept park, perfect for any occasion from picnics to fitness. There are many hidden gardens within the park itself so worth exploring!
S.
A public place that's got tennis court, large grass area, a water fountain and so on.
n. b.
Great love the place but not nice seeing kids throw stones at ducks
S. C. C.
I haven't been there. I was just checking out the route/directions for a future venue to be held there.
m. m.
Great park and playground. Excellent for children and adults. Good for jogging, exercise and just chilling by the pond. Lot of activities like licensed fishing, relaxing by the water, picnic.
J. C. V.
Amazing place
Nice lake...
Great barbecue area!!
J. R.
Can be a nice park if it's not busy but if you choose a busy day to go it can be a bit of a headache. Waiting in line for the slide while young kids are climbing up the slide and running straight to the front of the queue.you can find a nice spot to relax if your having lunch and it it's a smooth spot with grass that's a bonus.
F. H.
Underated park in SE London. Lots of open space and a nice pond/lake with fountains in the centre. Snow in pics seasonal 😉
P. A. -. P. T. M.
Burgess Park is a neat and well maintained green with a pond in the Walworth district. It should has more benches IMHO.. You can also find a local coffee shop there.
A. R.
Nice quiet park good for walking round cycling or jogging. a nice lake with ducks and barbecue area.
J. T.
Beautiful large park with a lake and wild areas. Can sometimes be let down by large groups playing VERY loud music, which makes it less peaceful
M. T.
Nice for running and taking walks. Quite flat. Includes a skate park.
M. P.
Lovely park, great atmosphere.
loads of fun for the kids, toilets very conveniently placed where we were.
I've cream van was a plus on a hot summers days
A. O.
Serene environment to work out and have outdoor fun for the family.
R. R.
Wonderful park really big with decent size amusement part inside for kids and grownups, the toilets were the only issue as it did not have stuff like toilet paper but again Sunday evening and it's popular.
w. Z.
Such a lovely green area and a peaceful lake with swans. Perfect to have a walk in a sunny day.
A. E.
Visited this park frequently during my stay in London. A nice place to loosen up after hectic work. It has nice lake in the middle and walkways in the woods. A great view of city's skyline from one end. Overall loved it
T. D.
Unfortunately, not hugely dog friendly.
No dog park for dogs to run around securely off lead, and there are many, many cyclists whizzing through the park which always makes me nervous.
It has a lovely cafe, and a beautiful lake.
M. C.
Large park in suburban area , close to shops and East Street Market. BMX track and Tennis courts. Events held yearly.
W. J. G.
Very clean park with nice playground for kids. Very cute cafe but the hot chocolate was average.
M. C.
Big and beautiful
Very nicely maintained, lucky to have this in SE London
j. c.

A. Y.
Great for fishing, used canned corn as bait and caught a lot.
K. A.
Kids area with slide and climbing frame kept me and the kids busy. Cafe was nice, compact affair.
Gardens, BMX track and courts... There's allot of space.
M. S. (. I.
Awesome park to run every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. come join the party of energy and positiveness.
A. S.
Beautiful park with decent facilities. Big lake is the best part about this park. Previously there used to be barbecue pits on the north end right next to the lake but these were relocated a few years back. They have moved the barbecue area further into the park and it’s larger now than it used to be. Excellent for picnics. Come early if you want a pit however as these get very busy on warm days. If you come early June you get to see these huge fish (Not sure about what species) that crowd the lake particularly in the shallow parts of the waters.
T. s.
It was absolutely fantastic in the park today sitting by the lake iforgot that I was in the city
S. A.
Pretty Park with a nice fishing pond
O. C.
Burges park is a great outdoor space in South East London, with easy access from elephant and castle all the way through Camberwell to Peckham. It's great in the summer, where they allow outdoor BBQs and have dedicated brick built BBQs for hire. Although these facilities are not available during the current pandemic. There are also tennis facilities and a cafe serving door and coffee. There is a lake in the middle that allow for fish on one side as well as a scenic walk all the way around. Good place to see local wildlife like ducks and squirrels, as well as lost soul searching for a loo, which luckily are provided on site! There a secluded walking areas to get away from the main bustle if you know where to look ( usually on the sides of the park). There are also local landmarks like the old railway and furnace! The park can be accessed from multiple locations, one down Walworth road and one in Camberwell and others of to the side towards Peckham and elephant and castle. There are unfortunately some kind of maintainence work going on near the lake which is a bit of an eye sore but hopefully it will be finished soon! If you up for a bit of exercise, running over the hills, near the Walworth road entrance, is a great way to burn a fee calories after your mid Saturday sunny BBQ, or there is ample space for a kick about with few friends.
A. G.
Spacious, beautifully plants, super play areas,
a. r.
Grate park to visit and some fishing also there
A. A.
Rural, rustic with lots of character. A wonderful children's playground, tennis courts, cafe area, lake and a barbecue area. Very lively cultural feel to this park with enough to see and do during a visit. With this heat wave we are experiencing a good place to visit.
M. B.
Any1 else noticed two new swans with the 2 local swans ? Maybe these 2 were fertilised after all out of the eggs they had.... update 5 swans altogether . adults and 3 teenage kid swans by the looks of it
M. G.
Massive park, not too crowed. A good place to relax and break away from the city
J. O.
I love this park as it is very large and spacious. You can do a number of things they're, so when I went there yesterday there were people playing with their kites, cycling, skateboarding and jogging. It is an ideal place to go to in the spring/summer time, and there is also a pond where you will see some ducks and you can feed them with some bread.
D. A.
An extremely beautiful park.
H. S.
I was having such a stressful Sunday - so I thought I'd go for a walk with my best friend ( Rocky my dog).
I took a short cut and ended up at the most beautiful park/gardens/lake and picturesque park - BURGESS PARK
It was great and so refreshing & eye opening. It was a massive open area with a children's area, lake/boat/fishing area, BBQ area, skateboarding area and the walking distance is large especially through tree's and petal gardens.
Believe me I am one happy bunny now :-)
N. G.
Not the prettiest park but lots of space.
J. J.
Beautiful recreational Park with a diversity of facilities.
F. H.
One of the rare parks where you can bbq (when its not too dry). Beautiful blossoms in the spring. There's always someone having a party, great vibe.
J. M.
It was fun coz I went to the funfair
D. I.
Perfect place to spend a couple of hours outdoors.
S. F.
Big park, the main park, 1 big kid park and 1 toddler park both next to each other, 1 big lake with big fish you can see on a good sunny day(you can fish there as long as you got a permit and no swimming allowed) Theres also a seated cafe area with reasonable prices for drinks and snacks.
The second park on other side has a seated cafe area which connects to the tennis courts. There also a shared gym area hidden behind the hills.
This place is awesome during summer, great for jogging, brilliant for the kids to burn some energy but watch your surroundings when walking on the path, although its pedestrian priority cyclists pay no attention to the signs.
O. O.
Very chilled park popular with locals. It has something for everyone!
O. G.
It's a big park very comfortable place also good play ground for kids, also have a lake with ducks .....
A lot of people from every nationality.
R. S.
Amazing park! Fun-filled park, room for a wide range of activities. You should definitely go there. It is perfect for a family day out. Includes playground, BBQ area and lots of green spaces.
M. P. H.
It's an Amazing Green place.
A. B. T.
The park is good for family outdoor activities. Benches/seating facilities are limited to sit. CCTV will be ideal to increase collaboration and security
D. 7.
Despite quite a few people in the park it's big enough for good social distancing. Lovely lake with a variety of water birds. Good café and tranquil walled gardens.
N. G.
Nice, large park with outdoor gym equipment and mountain bike slopes. Nice, but feels a little flat and exposed. You never forget that you are in the centre of London, unlike other parks in the area
P. M.
Burgess Park is a fantastic place for family day out. Fun we had might be attributed to the fanfare that is holding on 11/08/2018
S. S.
Nice to relax, beautiful place for your jogg, cool place for fresh air
J. B.
Huge, wide and open park with big fishing lake filled with greyling geese with no fear of people, biggest tube slide in South London. Positive vibes with barbeques going by 11am most days. It's an old light industry site with a railway line running through it, with a footbridge starting from the old canal site where vinyl records were invented.
F. J.
Funny enough I never knew the park was quite big, until that day. Really enjoy the beauty of nature: The green grass, trees, hill, bridges , fishes in the water, bush path, ducks etc.
J. K.
Great park, always well maintained. Heaps of open space, which is full of people in warm weather, and has so many wildflowers in summer/spring!
From a woman's perspective, I appreciate the public toilets, the lights, and cameras. It just feels like a safer place, to me.
A. B.
I spent a lot of time in my youth at this park. Played football, tennis and many more sporting events. Had lots of fun. Looks very different to when I was growing up. Looks wonderful and has a lot of good parts of the park with high levels of energy. Going again soon. Don't live in the area any more.
T. N. S.
Beautiful park in the area
D. B.
Lots of Canada & Egyptian Geese but not sure why they were in a cordon off area. This feels like a very flat park. I did like the meadow area and Addington Square.
O. O.
Beautiful place to have a gathering such as BBQ by the lake.
S. B.
Decent sized park for walks or runs. Lakeside benches were useful to wind down.
O. M.
Love this park. Lots of space. Lots of different features (lake, hills, flat open space, some areas of tarmac which are popular with skaters, trees for shade). Close to Tesco as well, so you can easily get supplies for a picnic or something.
F. E.
Very lovely massive park for all round enjoyment and exercise. Shortfall is dogs in the way, these animals need to have their area separate from fun side park area.
S. F.
Good sized park. Was really peaceful when I went.
A. O.
Can be great. Lots of variety . Lake often has Herons and comorants on it. Wooded play area for kids, nice hidden gardens and nice more open flower gardens too. Several cafes.
M. C.
I’m very happy to live near Burgess Park. It’s a great area to walk, run and enjoy the lake and open space.
There is space on the pathways for cyclists and most are very courteous although there are the occasional folk who cycle recklessly and play loud music disrupting the peace of this small haven.
I believe this area hasn’t reached its full potential and needs a bit more support from the council and the community to keep the area clean especially with dog fouling and maintaining cleanliness around the bbq area.
F. T.
Amazing huge park with a lake, hills, BBQ area, toilets ecc. Very Good Vibes, especially on Sundays :)
P. M.
Lovely and relaxing with a lake in the middle of park. Excellent for adults and children. Plenty of space for picnic and outdoor gym.

Good park for family and kids,
You can cycle through there is a nice playground. Well recommended.
W. G.
I love its diversty as father of 5 my kids love the park I played in as a kid
s. y.
A nice place to go for a break and fresh air. Only a walking distance depending on where one starts from. There's a tennis court and other places of interest. People making BBQ and you can bring your own food and drinks. Many trees with good shades to relax under.
A. R.
Different areas for people to walk to,it has a café, picnic benches and a small vine garden, it's good for running and walking and some nice wooded areas
L. N.
Beautiful place! A peaceful park to read a book or walking your dog
C. W.
I remember this park being an open expanse of grass before the investment. The landscape now has added real value to this park. It now has character with unique landscaping designed to enhance the space and bring out the activities. This gives the park sections of purpose designed for all age groups.
M. C.
Really nice park, the green is really well maintained,
the small lake is beautiful and there's a good track for jogging
P. H.
Fantastic space for a stroll or for a picnic. Very big! Has water and a playing park in too. Easily accessible with parking on site
A. B.
One of the best place for a family picnic. Amazing view and if you love fishing it's the place to go. Amazing place if you want to freshen up and have some relaxing time.
L. A.
There's a lot do in Burgess Park. I like the idea that you can enter the Park through different directions and exit in a completely different location. Walks are pleasant and there are lots of spaces for social distancing.
A. M.
It was an amazing park 😊👍✨
S. A.
Countless wild flowers, cycle paths, stunning gardens, a lake, sports pitches.
Everything you might want, plus some history - a canal once ran through here.
V. O.
Nice place to hang out with family and friends, for a picknic, barbeque, children play activities or meditation .
a. a.
The down side is they have block the road st George's Road no access
S. B.
Good for skating, skateboarding, riding your bike etc, it has different surfaces on the paths, it has a bmx track club for children, it has tennis courts, a designated place to do bbqs in the summer, it has a children's park, toilets near to lake nice huge outdoor space to take walks, walk your dog/s etc. You can access this park via different routes. They have funfairs here & different events good for going to have a picnic too. Check it out.

Large park in south East London, currently undertaking a redevelopment
I. S. (. I. A.
Great place to have a BBQ and play games with friends. There is nice lake that some use for fishing. There are cycling paths and toilets that people can use till late. My experience using this park was very positive, I would be happy to visit this park again.
J. M.
Very large park with a good view of the lake, paths to run and generally offers everything a typical park would. There's plenty of space if you want to relax in a secluded area and there are also areas where large number of people gather. The BBQ area has a friendly crowd but it can get really packed and you have to get there super early if you want to use one of the park's free grill stations(unfortunately when private events take place they take over nearly every grill station).
S. K.
No lights at night which causes a lot of crime and theft.
N.
Best Park by far. Love the area and the people. Very large also. If you think Hyde Park is better, then you are wrong. Check for yourself, this is the 1 thing I missed when I had to leave the community
D. R.
I really like this park, it has a BBQ area and benches, right now the BBQ area is closed, due to COVID-19, but once is open, is actually really nice and you overlook a small lake.
C. C.
Is a beautiful park in the middle of London.
A. A.
Big space, best bit of the area
V. I.
Very nice park with a great potential for future housing developments.
J. E.
Lovely open space with a good play area and cafe. Large lake is home to several species of water birds as well as fish for the anglers. Good to have such an amenity in the city
H.
This is my favourite place in london. I feel like I'm so lucky that I live near by. Love ya xxx
K. B.
Excellent open space.
Very welcoming.
As a local Park should be.
r. c.
Lovely park. Very nice playground for the kids. Lots of different areas of leisure. Really recommend this place. And we can do barbecue. There is an area in the park were you're allow to do charcoal barbecue. Just great.
V. D.
An odd shaped but beautiful park
N. W.
Burgess Park is a 'new' park that came into being partly due to the Blitz, partly the filling in of a canal and also progressive, often contentious council planning. It has a water feature so large you can apply for a fishing permit and it has a dedicated BBQ section so popular you have to turn up before your breakfast to secure a pitch.
J.
Absolutely lovely park, beautiful lake , football and many more to enjoy !!
V. B. H.
What is great about this park is its huge size and location - it feels spacious and open regardless of where in the park you decide to go/the amount of people that are there, and the park itself is much needed because the area is a very grey neighbourhood with lots of traffic. It has got something for everyone - tennis pitches, places to sit down and read, and going for a jog doesn't feel to repetitive because of the size (although it is not optimal). What is bad about this park is that there are no lamp posts, so after dusk it is not safe/comfortable to be there at all. Additionally, the grass is not well tended to, and is often yellow and in some areas, completely gone. One minor issue is that the landscaping is suboptimal - quite a lot of the hills are located at the edge of the park, so that the area between the hills and the road/fence becomes very unattractive to use.
TL;DR - good, much-needed park in the area but has some issues stemming most likely from lack of funding.
J. B.
It was snowing so we were not there long. It looked clean and there a nice coffee and cakes kiosk. Didn't see and convenience facilities. I am told there is a gardens area, maybe a visit next time 😃
S.
Lovely park and lake. Lots of places for the children to enjoy. There is two main parks for children under 5 year old and the second main park for older children.
A. N.
Large green space situated between a notorious estate and Walworth Road, there are outdoor gyms, little lakes and some trees... Not the best park in London even after a huge investment that was poured to it some years ago...
C. S.
Great park. Always hosting different things. Fair dates etc. Big lake. Fishing available. Two playgrounds. One for under fives which is really nice. Cafe good with nice food. BMX club. Nursery. I could go on. Plenty of open space. Well used. Thoroughly recommend it.
D. T.
Lovely park to enjoy on a sunny day, the beautiful hills give you the feeling that you’re actually on the country side but having the commodity of being surrounded by coffee shops, super markets, tennis courts and other facilities.
C. A.
My favourite London Park. Lots of space, good to run through and loads of wildflowers. That's good for you and good for the bees!

a slient and peaceful park. it is used for PCR test centre now

If you get a chance enjoy this if you can
W. C.
A lot for big kids to climb on and nicely shaded.
M. L. c.
Wonderful place, great for family and friends.Perfect for picnic and soft games with little ones.
Its is like you are in little "green"paradise in the middle of City.
J. N. M.
Big, beautiful and a good place to relax.
M. S.
Used the carpark off Albany Road and wasted several minutes trying to figure out how to pay. Pay by Phone signage is out of date and doesn't tally with the app. Needs to be made clearer that the parking is actually free... I'm not trying to get a fine for a quick visit to the swings! Anyway, the playground itself is nice enough - tall slide, circular web swing, zip line etc. Kids had fun climbing up the hillside to the slide. Great that you can see the whole playground from many different locations and don't have to follow your children around to keep an eye on them. Lack of tree shade made for a longer time to enjoy what little sunshine there was today. There are also toilets very close by and they were pretty clean as far as park toilets go. Will come again.
J. P.
It's ok 4 a nice walk but b careful of the bikes that whiss pass , some go slow others do not. More likely run u over if not careful, couples with babies that walk in the park an little children.
j. b.
Large meandering and modern landscaped park with a gamut of sport facilitiies and truly outstanding amenities including, amongst others, an attractive dedicated barbecue area and state of the art BMX track.
Interesting and unusual scattered areas to explore, historic remnants, a large lake, notable children's playgrounds and 2 cafes.
Inventive layout and an impressive level of maintenance and management evident here.
London's newest park impresses and now counts as one of the very best. Unreservedly recommended.
D. A. O.
Family friendly with a nice relaxed atmosphere.
M. K.
Nice open spaces. Easy parking. Lots to do for kids.
Community centre is nearby too. Providing various facilities. Decent cafe as well.
We had a team event in the park. Felt safe and gave us the space to play some great games.

It's a beautiful park with a lot of people walking around enjoying the sunshine

It is a nice medium sized park with a good playground for kids, and a large lake

The council are doing there best to bring this up to date. Looking good and lots for kids to do
e. d.
It's a lovely peaceful place to go on your own of with friends and family to walk fish or play. The park has areas with grills for BBQ and a fantastic play ground. There is also a garden with a cafeteria just by the playground so you can sit and watch the kids having fun while you have something to eat it drink. I love it..
L. B.
A lovely big park, with loads to do. There's a cafe, a bike park, children's playground plus lots more.
r. s.
Nice place for jogging
Still open during lockdown? ..
P. T.
a park with lots of diverse interesting areas, and - rare in London - a park where nature is allowed to grow (when southwark council leaves it alone!). A locals' park and a definite hidden gem 🤫
Z. W.
A brilliant park in between old Kent Road, Albany Road and Camberwell Road. Well kept, great cafes, a great children's playarea x2, one for younger children and one for older children. Great area for walking, a lake, tennis courts too. Well worth visiting.
R. A.
Only a part of the area in Burgess.
T. K.
It's a lovely developed green space that was redone a few years back. It's a definite improvement but there are issues. The playgrounds lack vision with practicality thrown right out the window. They can be downright dangerous for pregnant women (sand pit slopes in smaller playground a complete disaster). The fountains rarely function and the chlorinated water burns.
It is nice for a short walk but I struggle to find a reason to make it a destination. Saying that, the latest managers of the Chumleigh garden cafe are quite good currently. Nice lattes.
J. B.
Great open space for spring picnics and even has tennis and football cages for booking. At the far end is a large pond often home to various wildlife.
S. C.
Always a good experience? And a pleasure to walk through.
I. H.
One of my favourite parks in London.... So big and with a lot of activities available. Probably one of the best tennis courts with flood lights.... Really at park.
M. F.
Beautiful Park with lots of wildflowers and grasses. Huge space with a laid back South East London vibe. Fishing lake, BMX track, Tennis courts, cafe and children's playground.

Burgess is a lovely Park; clean with beautiful hillside views, an awesome looking pond with ducks paddling around.
It was absolutely a gorgeous visit .

Great park. Really large, lots of green space to sit in.
BBQ and picnic areas.
Sporting facilities including an astroturf football area, tennis centre, BMX park, rugby and cricket ground and a great running route (including ParkRun).

Great place for walking, cycling, dog-walking, exercises, jogging. Chilaxing etc

Superb open space, facilities all excellently sign posted at many points but beware illegal e-scooter riders appearing out of nowhere silently and some inconsiderate cyclists.

Swales at Burgess Park entrance have been successful.

It's a park I always go through on my daily commute and it's great. The park is absolutely massive with a great like in the middle of it which is nice to watch the ducks swim. Also it's a great spot for picnics and has a specific area for BBQs.

Great park for a run or walk

Very nice and well kept. Safe walking in Burgess park.
A. J.
Burgess park has always attracted me because of the greenish and the fish pond were ducks and other animals like fox. I find it a very beautiful place for visiting or picnic.
S. J.
I love how well used this park is - it has a real sense of community; but you have to be quick to grab a bbq spot! Nice and scenic and the tennis courts are great!
A. G.
A really nice park, plenty of space, really family-friendly feel when we were there this weekend, even has a BBQ area!
H. H.
Went here for a picnic with some friends. We slung a slack line between 2 trees and had a lovely afternoon. There doesn’t seem to be enough bins for the amount of people in the park and subsequently people do leave litter around. They are doing some work to improve the space and there are ALOT of fancy flats going in all around the edges.
R.
A great family park with facilities for kids of all ages, the play area is well catered to all kids and is often full at the weekends. There are some great BBQ areas with good views over the park. Get here early at the weekend to secure a BBQ spot though as they often get snapped up by large groups who take over more than one spot. The park is kept clean throughout the week and the grounds are well tended to.

Great park, lots of lots of space for BBQs and walking, big pond with lots of ducks and geese. Brilliant area for walking a dog or taking the children, you wouldn't believe it's in the middle London.

Quite spacious, tidy and clean. There is lot of selection from a bmx ramp to working out area and playgrounds

Lovely park. I had a nice walk with my friends in there, I especially liked 'the wild little forest' by the lake.😊👍

Great place for the family to take a walk in this busy area. Great park with a big lake so u can feed the ducks, flower garden, kids section for older and younger kids. My daughter loves the sand pit.

Whether u like to take ur dawg out for a walk or u prefer run around after foxes, whatever's ur thing this is definitely the best place to do it.
Absolutely.
Oh yes.

Lovely big park. Nice childrens area very spacious and beautiful gardens.
Only issue is the toilets they absolutely wreak. Theres always one downfall but apart from that such a lovely park.
F. Z.
Great size park, with an area specifically dedicated to having bbqs. However, overall there isn't much to do. A new children's area and skateboard area have been put in but it's basically a large open space for dog walking
P. L.

Lots of work going on in the park and areas are fenced off. My grandchildren enjoyed their time in the play areas. There was a post online apparently warning people to keep their dogs away from the lake because of the danger of blue algae.

Its a great size, and its a very popular spot. It has a big lake with lovely huge fish and its perfect if you like bbq's. There could be more for children, in terms of a sandpit, a proper play park and a water feature that they could actually go in. Its quite hilly though, lots of lumps and bumps.
A. S.
Great park. Fun for all. Walkers, joggers, runners, kite lovers,Playground fishing pond bar and BBQ areas.
C. D.
Nice wide open public area. Good for running and outdoor fitness. Nice hills and viel from them.
J. N. R.
A vastly improved park - having for a long time been a rather desolate and forgotten refuge for the more unfortunate of the world, this park has been subjected to a meaningful and long-lasting renaissance. Good kids' play area, nice cafe, sizeable and well-landscaped pond, small meadows, open spaces, lots of trees and good for running, cycling, walking and lazing. There's even a free for all BBQ area. Well done Southwark.
D. P.
Beautifully re-imagined and designed, Burgess park has literally blossomed since work on its face lift was completed. The variety and versatility of the many different areas appeal to a wide selection of the multi-cultural community. This park offers spectacular views of the city and Canary Wharf, as well as a wide range of facilities and amenities
C. H.
It's a lovely park that is looked after well. Apart from the odd plum you get in there who drink and leave their rubbish lying about everywhere it's worth a visit. The lake is lovely and the ducks walk around quite freely with their babies following them 🦆. The shame of it was when the BBQ's where put in there for all the public to use and enjoy some arseole decided to smash them up and ruin it for everyone else. Disgrace, should be ashamed of themselves. Totally unnecessary & unfair. But a nice park to visit alone or with friends and family ♥️👍🏻
A. V.
Nice park with three playgrounds, barbecue area, artificial lake, some wild meadows, about 5 artificial hills. Funfairs twice a year, Cafe, BMX-track, tennis and fishing. I love the hills to ride some MTB with my little sons, probably not legal but still fun.
L.
Beautiful wild flower garden and nice cafe!
M. S.
Great for family fun and BBQ's!! Nice outdoors environment, the plant life is beautiful and amazing!! It has been well kept by the council and locals and tourists love it!!
My advice, don't walk through it late at night in the winter, it's pitch black with no lights...
C. W.
Really nice park, it feels safe and it has nice remote areas if you want to avoid the kids and BBQ smoke.
The cherry trees blossoming is by far the best!
M.
Beautiful place need of some TLC.
J. W.
Big, clean, lovely flower bed, leads from Kennington to Peckham. Very nice! Needs more bins, I didn't find the pond but I've heard that's breath taking. Lots of places to hide away and have a picnic or stick to the path for a walk.
J. f.
Lovely place for a Sunday afternoon walk
P. E.
A fun place to be with the family. Lots of picnic spaces and spaces for events like birthday parties. Children play area with slides and others. The nest place to pass time as they will never get board and you won't either
T. T.
Valuable memories and experiences
Its underrated really, beautiful and snug. Open and lovely for little adventure with your little one. So many hidden gems within the park.
S. P.
A lot of space to play with children and have picnics and maybe chill by the lake. There are also some historic landmarks and a view of the city from there. I love to go there for an while but I usually don't stay too long as there are not many trees. One of the big ones in south London not doubt
P. H.
Good sized park to come and have a BBQ, walk a dog, or just chill out. There is dedicated kids play area which is very popular. People come to practice yoga, play a football or tennis. And if you're hungry there is a small snack bar right next to the tennis courts.
A. “.
Nice and was surprised for me how big it is.
A. K.
It's very child friendly
M. B.
Nice and open. Slight issue is with cyclists and other 2 wheel vehicles like scooters that continuously run through the pavement.
A. H.
Nice place to spend free time in and to walk about.
I found it a bit disturbing though that in the middle of this pandemic, there was what seemed a family gathering or celebration with about 40 adults and children. Otherwise, it is still a lovely place.
P. N.
Walk my dogs here often, cute park. Gets a bit unsafe/dodgy once the sun goes down. Has two sections with a lovely children's play area on one side and a less nice children's play area on the other. There is also a cafe, pond and various outdoor gym facilities. Gets very busy on the weekends.
Barbecue area gets real trashy during the summer - families relieving themselves in the bushes by the public path. Avoid if you don't wanna be scarred - a woman literally peed in front of me in a bush.
P. V.
Good place to get away from the noise of the surrounding roads, ie Albany, Camberwell and Old Kent Road. Some genuine efforts taken here to bring some nature into the place, and can walk to nearby Glengall Wharf Garden if you want to get involved in some permaculture activities. Facilities include new toilets near the pond, and a cafe and two kids playgrounds (one for toddlers) which can get a bit busy during the summer months. Cafe used to be good but has become a bit pricey so don't go there any more. Tennis courts at the Camberwell Road end, with another little cafe there. Plenty of open spaces, and oh I forgot to mention there is a new adventure playground at that end of the park too. Plenty of places to explore if you just want some peace and quiet.
H. W.
Great public space for a walk, jog, cycle, picnic, BBQ or various other activities. Great little cafes. Always cleaned up quickly after a sunny day when some park users don't take care of their rubbish.
M.
Nice to walk through some green in the midst of a busy space. Would be great to have more trees and landscaping.
A. F.
I walk through the park on my way to see dad and it's lovely with a large lake.
M. H.
Love it for it's 'wildness' but the unlit areas are a bit scary. Especially this time of year for this 'old lady' and her doggie.
l. t.
The day was rainy but fun
P. K.
Love the place. The park is big, it has some hills, lake with fountains and bridge, barbecue, lots of walking paths nice view of some of London's skyscrapers. Many people picnicking here just prove that this place is great for a day in the air with friends and/or family.
N. L.
Lovely park, big kids playground with another one just opposite for under 5's. Cafe & toilets nearby.
N. A.
BBQs were closed so we brought our own thinking that'll be fine, but the polite staff told us we were allowed any bbqs at all. They allowed us to continue for the day since had already started.
I just thought that was really nice of them.
L.
Relaxing place with nice lake, barbecue area.
Easy reach from Elephant and Castle with bus 172, 453, 53, 63.
From London Bridge with bus 21. The bus stop is Tesco Old Kent Road
M. S.
This is my place. Really calm, friendly and blissful place, especially in the summer when the swans swim in the river with lots of other ducks. Haven't seen a fish yet, only probably once in the earlier years, don't know much about it either. Nice day!
M. M.
There is a sport centre where you can play tennis, fishing lake, barbecue area and the park is well maintained. Burgess park is a big place and it is good to walk or jugging around...
W. V.
I used to walk around with some friends. Elephant and Castle in near and in summer you can enjoy of the weather and to prepare a picnic. Many people play football and chatting.
I highly recommend this park, lots of memories.
M. Y.
Nice park, with good play area and tennis courts. Good for walking / jogging in day. No lighting though, so definitely avoid at night, as an unpleasant crowd tends to gather here after dark.
A. C.
Good 👍 for teaching your kids to learn to ride
S. P.
Parking can be a bit tricky plus be careful of the road layout when approaching the car park. Don't follow the navigation on waze as it takes you to the middle of nowhere .
Quite busy even during the week while the argos in the sainsbury is the most organised I have had to pick up electronics from.
J. L.
Huge park with some nice landscaping. Can suffer from littering
A. C.
Nice park for all kinds of activities;
- Dog walk friendly, wide variety of areas for stimulation including open fields, pond and trees with wildlife, mounds for uphill and downhill runs, flat ground, areas of short grass + areas of long grass, plant + flower areas with all different smells, many other dogs being walked etc. Just need to be careful of bicycles and scooters going through the centre paths.
- Tennis courts where you can show up, borrow rackets and play, or join a club. Next door to the tennis cafe, a lovely cafe serving nice (and affordable) coffee, outdoor and indoor seating, nice toilets, a few vegan / veg options and most importantly a welcoming face from the guy with the crazy cool curly hair.
- Fancier cafe near the car park, a little pricer. Toilets next door, the typical public types with those horrible metal stainless steel bowls.
- Adventure playground which is fairly big with a bunch of cool things to climb and explore for the kids. Also a BMX track too for the bike heads.
- Many brick BBQs for use in the summer, nice for small gatherings or birthday parties.
- Free car park for about 4 hours, disabled spaces as well as ‘standard’ spaces. Closes at 6.30pm prompt so be careful or you may end up being locked in.
J. M.
Huge park, created after WW2, for the locals to enjoy and get fresh air. The park runs from Old Kent Road to Camberwell.
Huge green spaces for picnics or just relaxing. Dedicated cycle routes, games pitches, lakes, and old structures from when the Surry canal passed through
M. N.
Walk, run, chill out. Wide open spaces and open all hours. Great for quiet late evening well lit runs when you want to avoid crazy traffic on roads
G. A. M.
Great and a big Park, coffee shop, playground for kids, sports.
C.
Lovely park, nice kid's games as well, wide clear path where you can run or cycle or walk in any weather as they're made of concrete.
S. J.
Beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
J. C.
It is a big park nice cycle paths and a small lake with ducks and geese, has a football pitch although you have to book it, and also has a b.m.x circuit and b.m.x club, also has a toddlers playground and a bigger playground for the bigger kids,
The one problem is at night the park is open but absolutely no lighting what so ever you see lots of people with torches on there phones walking through, also lots of space for a picnic, and forgot has a small outside gym, all in all its a really nice park to visit I recommend it.
J. H.
I took my Grandaughter there and she enjoyed herself and it was not busy which made it a better time with her
M. M.
Great place for walks, large pond with ducks. Cycling paths. Bmx bike track. Plenty of parking spaces
I. W.
Great place to bring your BBQ and be safe. It's massive with tennis courts, BMX track and lots more. People from all walks of life congregate here, great in the summer and nice days
M. G. T.
Very nice
F. M.
Great place to relax, walk, ride a bike, have a barbecue.
The only downside is the lack of wardens to stop people misbehaving (fishing from the bridge, or to remind cyclists that they should cross the bridge pushing their bikes)
But overall a great park
A. C.
Great small-ish park in South East London, doesn't get as busy as some of the bigger parks (and all the better for it!) Nice lake, BMX track, football pitches, tennis courts -- basically this park has everything that you could want.
a. e.
I discovered today that Burgess Park has a nice cafe with a large outside sitting area, though it was closed when I got there.
E. W.
Very lovely Park. Starting from tennis courts, sport centre (having woman football), lovely cafe and many roads to walk. Beautiful wild area, Swans having nest at the lake. Play area should have more equipment and normal swings for little ones.
A. R.
My local park. I enjoy sitting there alone to catch up with important memories.
T. H.
Open spaces to walk the dog, cat or rabbit. Plenty of things for kids to do they can make their own fun and games.
C. B.
This is a lovely park to take a walk around in during the day. There is an outdoors free gym that uses your own body weight, there is a kiddies park, a bmx track and also a lake that you can fish from and throught the year there are also funfair and during summer also, plus there are different types of events that appear during summer.
One of the biggest in the area however be super careful if you are walking through it at night as most parts that are not by the roads are pitch black and dark and bad people tend to lurk in the dark
A. W.
If you live round there or are visiting it's a nice place. Three parks for kids, a fishing lake, hills to climb, wooded areas to explore, bbq areas, tennis. It's really pleasant.
j. p.
nice park plenty of facilities, but not a good place after dark.
P. D.
Beautiful community park. Lots of space. Great facilities (incl. toilets, a cafe, tennis courts, and even an epic BMX track). Great place to spend a sunny afternoon.
N. v. A.
Lots of great outside space, good for runs, picknicks and parties. Barbequeing is an option, as well as sitting among beautiful flowers in the right season. It does get very windy around the lake, so be sure to take an extra jacket if you want to sit close to it.
S. N.
One of the best outdoor space in South East London. Plenty of spots for all type of activities including fishing, outdoor exercises, walking and running. Kids can enjoy children's park and activities
In summer there are music festivals and variety of events in and around the park. Main access to park is from old Kent road and Camberwell new road. There is no free parking nearby on weekdays
v. v.
This park is my personal favourite because I live around this place
S. l.
A very spacious and green park. It has some very lively spots, more by the bbq areas and also some very quiet spots in the park. It has little parks for the kids also. It has a lake but it doesn't look as good as it did a few years back.
G. G.
BBQ area a lake, you can fish, it connects Bermondsy with Camberwell. It often hosts a fun fair, it also have nice restrooms and a great coffee shop. It's the perfect park for me
D. B.
Huge amount of space so you can go with family. There are places to park too. It's just a lovely big park. Fun fairs are even held there every now and then.
A. b.
Awsome park first time I been fishin there and really nice kept swims tons of birds to watch as well didn't catch though but next weekend should be better
S. M. E.
Look for peace with nurture and greeny. I highly recommend for you all to pay a visit and explore what Burgess Park as to offer. Lastly, there are many other facilities in this park. For example, a local cafe in the centre of Burgess park, tennis court and a free gym for the local community.
c. b.
Went to the fun fair was good fun and not too expensive.... lovely cafe in the park near the play area server was polite and friendly
S. L.
Great for bike riders, joggers, dog walkers and children. Wide space to sit and relax with your Friends and family. Secured children area for them to play in you can either go in with them or sit on the sideline and safely watch them.
R. T. (.
Great.
J. J.
Lovely park with pond, there is also toilets on site and barbecue designated area.
R. M.
Lovely park but at the moment they are doing some major works on it in the centre of the park, still visitable.😉 also they do now have brand new toilet facilities by the lake (great place to take a leak😆😆😆)I've not seen any sign posting for direction. So it may have been there some time but I've never noticed it.
n.
A really relaxing park to visit. Love the very long walks and the lake is a great view.
A. S.
Really pretty park considering it's just off the Old Kent road. No longer able to do barbecues which is a shame but there's a fishing lake and lots of space to sit and chill or for kids to run around.
T. _. G.
Beautiful place with a nice sun exposure, and a kind of lake/pond.
A good advice, it's better to lookin' for a spot along the water to chill or a bbq, than the big areas dedicated to, they're just too messy.
I recommend it.
a.
Very large open space in a central part of south London.. looks to be a common meeting spot for many cultures. Nice lake and open barbecuing area. Very much enjoy coming here.
E. B.
Great place to stay alone with your thoughts for some time or to go jogging and shed the stress of a busy day. My favourite past time is simply contemplating the water surface on a clear still day, when it's really tranquil and smooth like a child's hair, just combed out by its mother in the morning of the first school day. So relaxing.
N. M.
It was a really nice place to go and relax also you can go to the fun fair that is really entertaining especially for kids.
J. C.
Really enjoyed it, met up with friends for drinks and nibbles, food was delicious, service was great, highly recommended a visit there
P. J.
One of the best parks in london, smooth paths great for bikes/scates. In the summer can be very littered, due to visitors, park keepers work very hard to keep the park clean. At night time its very good to look at stars as not too much light pollution
R. H.
Increasingly pleasant urban space, decent Cafe and lovely lake
B. S.
Great outdoor space. Very popular with runners, riders, skaters, walkers, fishermen. Great lake. Great to exercise in, very accessible
A. E. A.
Great place for a bbq or a stroll anytime during the week. Also opposite many of our rental flats.
n. m.
Great place to come have a BBQ and relax, can get quite busy in the BBQ area. there is a BMX track located here where you can have a go or watch if they are racing. A nice pond that you can fish in if you want to grab a day pass, some of the fish I seen looked quite big.
S. P.
Love Burgess Park, good for wildlife/waterfowl and the planting is a highlight too.
H. U.
The park is huge space family's dog walking people training pond with some fishing duck other birds children play Aire flowers garden old red train walk-in track coffee shop some seat out side most of all DON'T go on prepaired because there is no place hide from heavy rain and wind it opens ground.
S. P.
Marvellous communal space - beautiful lake with wide variety of waterbirds (including Egyptian ducks). Public toilets. Disabled friendly pathways (some cobbles aren't enormously comfortable but otherwise easy to get around)
G. Y.
Beautiful open space in London, the lake is peaceful with good areas for fishing and there's a well maintained kids playground. The cafe is very expensive though, £2 for a can of coke is daylight robbery, they do stock Lickalix ice lollies though and they're really good and not too expensive there.
j. t.
big wide open space, there is a play area, a bmx track plenty of space for picnics... at night avoid the tree areas if you dont like bats, i find them fascinating, they never crash into you or anything else, just getting supper. the also space for barbeques and a fountain area, im not sure if you can swim in it though.
C. C.
There are several sports you can practice on this park from tennis to rugby, the coffee shop is really good near to the tennis court at rhe end of Walworth Road. There is also a second coffee shop near the play ground area in the middle of the park, the lake is at the other end near to Old Kent Road, there are also facilities for BBQ
G. A.
Nice place. Lots of activities during the summer. Its a good place to run or ride a bike. Saturday mornings are very encouraging for a good run/workout
l. j.
Very spacious park has a nice little park inside for young kids to play on swing and other stuff has a nice long high slide that kids love has a nice cafe very close so refreshment are available overall a nice park to go to
C. B.
It's a park, you can get a tan, large open areas. Nice café too.

Nice park ,I like the play ground my kids play new and different things
C. K.
Great park. Bbq pit. You can use the local toilets next to the water hole area and there are toilets instead in chumleigh gardens but they're not open all the time. Also free exercise area.
A. D.
A huge well maintained park and recreation space. Home of London premiere BMX track on Albany Road. Saturday morning Park run and a fishing lake.
M. K.
Amazing view and a quiet place
K. M.
The most overlooked park in London. A wide open space with many areas for different activities, lying on the grass, fishing in the lake, tennis courts, rugby and football pitches, exercise machines and barbecue areas for summer nights. And a small hidden botanical garden behind the Park Life Cafe.
f. k.
Amazing park. Definitely recommend to visit
f. s.
Lovely atmosphere always full of life but you can move from the crowd to more peaceful and discreet place.
If you want to fish no problem there is a lake where you can do so,...
Nice clean public toilets.
