Reviews of Hackney Marshes
Such a beautiful place to immerse in nature, stunning interplay between organised planting, landscaping and space for self seeding, while water flows through this place, and we walk, play, sit, gaze. Extra- ordinary to believe how this was back in the 1980's, and what a transformation has happened
Stunning! All kinds of wildlife and plant life. A big space for all to share and be happy
Wonderful place for running, cycling, walking and any other activity and for rest and relaxation too.🏃♂️🏃♀️🚴♀️🚵♀️😌🚶♂️🚶♀️
Massive number of football pitches. Don't think I've seen as many in one place before! Very well used.
Brilliant open space full of football pitches. A short walk from the wetlands and Olympic park. Part of the Lea valley park which allows the intrepid pedestrian to exit London without crossing a single road.
Hackney marshes is a vast open area, used for sport and recreation...the football pitches are very well used, especially at weekend s ..there are woods, and cycling paths, and all is near the canal..great
Really good for walking 🚶♂️around with natural looking and very safe for everyone
Great to get out with a canal to one side, and easy access off the main road.
Leads nicely into Olympic park.
Beautiful park with lot of great sport matches. Can go for a walk and enjoy nice breeze on a sunny day. Only bad thing is shortage of car parking. Also the area is very far if you are traveling from Wembley. There are so many traffic lights and so many road works. So plan carefully if it worth coming if you know you have to keep driving in low gear due to excess amount if traffic.
The perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of London - you wouldn't believe you were still in the capital. Lots of places to play sport & beautiful nature, water and wildlife with that untouched vibe if you venture slightly off the beaten track. Probably one favourite places to get a bit of headspace. Walking distance from the Olympic Park :)
Located aside and between the River Lee and the Navigation channel. Incorporating sports fields, natural riverside habitats and grass/wildflower fields.
Pleasant area for a stroll with well-worn pathways through the fields that come alive with a show of wild flowers in Spring and Summer.
Very nice open space, especially for cycling, football and other open field sports.
Very calm and serene, feels like you’ve escaped the city.
A really nice afternoon walk. Definitely recommend when weather is dry as some areas get a little slippery.
Like the open space. Good for walks and Sundays is filled with footballers. Join the dog trainer and look up dog trainer hackney marshes for details. Worth the time
Nice open space....attended a one day cricket tournament, the park space is big enough-if concerns groups can maintain social distancing.
Great place for a long walk.
Although there aren't any cafe's here, it is a 10 minute walk to Chatsworth Road which has loads.
Massive football field. Somewhere around 50 pitches, South pitches, North pitched, East pitches. There is a large car park but at times it is full and parking in the street nearby can be restricted say from lunchtime Saturday and roads five minutes walk to the West of Hackney Marshes can be restricted on event days. There is a Hackney Council phone number for checking events days at London Stadium, you have to look it up on the web.
When you arrive at Hackney there is a building which you should visit. It has a cafe, toilets which are remarkably clean for the amount of people there, and lockers that can be hired but most importantly a map of the pitches.
It is wise to look at the map and find your pitch before wandering off. Some pitches can be 10 minutes walk from the building.
Nice place and maaaaaaaasive layout of football pitches
Wonderful urban park, river walks and 42 , count ‘em, 42 football pitches on one vast meadow
Lovely place, lots of football and cricket pitches. Every borough should have one of these for the health and wellbeing of locals.
What a transformation
Loved this place
Family friendly
Beautiful
Gr8 walks
Amazing open space
Great to play football or just walk around open space and unique place to see so many football pitches in one place as well great open space to fly a drone
On a beautiful day you can't go wrong. Cycled here for the first time from Enfield and it's such a fun day. Highly recommended.
This open space is a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively.
Really nice walks. Some parts are like countryside
Walk the dog through Hackney marshes from Leyton Marshes when I have time off. Big space to let the dog off the lead. River runs on both sides of Hackney marshes. Nice place to have sometime with friends or family. Good place for a good run and cycle.
Great place for a weekend getaway.
best outdoor experience- football fields, a river and lots of sky!
Brilliant for parkrun. There are toilet facilities on Saturday morning
Lovely place to go for walks, runs, cycles
There is always a new corner unexplored!
Loads of space for football, for canal walks, birdwatching.
It has existed for an extremely long time. In the summer the blackberries are the best you can sauce. Lots of open space. Excellent for walks and bike rides. Horses near the back. Can take you all the way into Walthamstow.
Not advisable to visit after dark.
Lovely place to go for a walk.
Lovely park, beautiful along the river. Wide open expanses of fields with lots of sky. Plenty of areas for sports and some lovely places to walk
It is a fantastic place to walk, take a fresh air, relax. It's a great sized field where you can just enjoy nature. Once you are off the roads, you practically can't hear the city around you. Love this place.
Lots of open space, woods and river walks along the Lea valley river.
Come prepared as you will get muddy and wet specially in winter.
Hidden places of interest if you are willing to find them, best enjoyed with a dog!..
Nice place for a walk and get some fresh air.
Great place to see weekend football heroes doing their stuff. Old Streetonians RFC also play their home messages here.
Very green very open and there is a canal to boot.
The last frontier of green when as east London is being torn apart by insensitive luxury flat building. Where is the community infrastructure to cope with it where is affordable housing. The marshes were allocated green space at a time when community and society was as important as the free market.
Easy access to customers boat to clean the fuel and tank water rust diesel bug etc all removed and engine running better than for a long time. Better propolshion fuel consumption, less maintenance.
Another happy customer
It was very good in the 80's but the council have ruined it now.
Nice slice of nature within hackney, we love cycling around and exploring. Truly glorious on a warm summers day.
Great place to go for a day out. Including outdoor swimming, parties and nudist spots
I love Hackney Marshes, there are so many trails you can follow and get yourself lost in between bushes and trees.
Went to watch rugby this time but previously cricket
It was a great place to walk my dog and a place to meet new friends. I would recommend it to any family or people that just wont a few hrs away for peace and quiet.
Open spaces, wooded areas and water. All in the middle of East London! Come and say hi to the woodpecker(s). They're busiest in the mornings :) There be treasure in them places! ❤🌈☠
Photoshoot for a campaign in Paris. We swam, ate wild fruits and danced in the thunder and lightning. Wonderful.
Great place for a walk or run. Near Stratford, Hackney, Leyton. Open fields, small rivers, canal boats, football pitches, wooded areas.
Worse places to be on a sunny afternoon.
Fairly quiet, considering it's in London. Interesting walk
Changing rooms were good 👌🏾 pitches are messed as always.
Football pitches. Decent car park but gets very busy at times.
One of the best place i will say for excersise normal walk or picnick
Lovely early morning walk in the mist.
such an Oasis of Nature...
Great place to take the wife and kids, the water is of questionable cleanliness but we all swam and are better for it, you never regret a swim ha ha ha! I cannot stress enough that these are some very big green spaces, humbling experience. Shamil over and out
Exceptional place for cycling or walking
Place to unwind or meditate. Love it
Beautiful. Very peaceful. Fed the ducks.
Pitches are close to each other, so expect multiple ball incidents
Car park shut bummer covid ..but still great place fill yr lungs ...
One of the best open spaces in London. Hackney marshes is so unique. Theres a massive wide stream and some amazing open space that internconnect with the marsh. On an English Summer Day you'd forget you're in London. I used to come here a lot in the 90s and I remember wild Rabbits! A lot has changed but thankfully the spirit of the Marsh is alive. You must visit in Summer and also at least in the early morning to catch a winter mist and fog like a Hammer film.
Who needs Kew when you've got fields of cow parsley
Wide open space providing a multitude of grass football pitches for East London.
Great outdoor space! Running, walking and of course football!
Everything that you expect in a Hackney park: humidity, cold breeze and a few hangover hipsters laying around.
Like the wind in my wings and hair. Definitely recommend.
Beautiful open space accessible 24/7 for everyone. Features sports feilds including; Football posts, Rugby posts, cricket space. Also features a wonderful river that is accessible in places.
Great place for dogs but when wet make sure you bring your wellies the marshes can be deep in places and flood easily
I took my dog to Hackney marshes today. Way to busy with cyclist, spoilt the walk as kept having to stop and wait for the cyclist to ride past. It is a lovely open space.
A little bit of country in East London
Lovely place but gentrification is ruining it. Not family friendly no more
Lovely bit of land , with horses and stuff
A lovely bike ride to an industrial heritage site; Middlesex filter beds. North London's fresh water came from here in the latter part of the 19th Century. Now a wildlife haven- concrete conquered by greenery.
Great place to go for a relaxing walk or go foraging.
Great park for a long walk, run, adventure with your dog or some sport. The fields are often used for football games and cricket and you will often find a number of dog walkers here during the week. Connects to Walthamstow Marshes and Riding school where you can meet some of the horses.
Great outdoor space for fresh air no traffic even good for seeing some wildlife
Well maintained woods, cycleways, and footpaths along the Lea River and Lea Navigation Canal. It has been raining heavily for a month now. Please heed professional advice from your coaches and managers before you enter the river in your canoe or kayak. The water levels are rising along the Lea River and the Lea Navigation Canal after these heavy rains. Please be cautious. During my stroll in the marshes, I often encounter a squirrel burying its dinner. How does the squirrel locate its dinner after one week, or one month? If you are a Parakeet fan, please take a stroll along the Hackney Marshes at sunset. Enjoy the Parakeet birdsong parties in the marshes. A treat of a lifetime. Thank you
Huge field for your entertainment
Lovely little area, with beautiful nature and wildlife and historical sites
Beautiful open space. Birdsong and a gurgling stream are the eastern boundaries. Football fields and a nature reserve with the canal as the western boundary. Great place for a walk, with or without a dog.
Vomit on the pavement . Just felt uneasy
Beautiful, nice place to walk or cycle, good information about the history of the local waterworks
Its a lovely place to hangout with family n friends for leisure. D field is so big that u got enough space to train for any sporting activity i recommed this place to any one for some good leisure.
Wow! What an absolute hidden gem, a short cycle from Walthamstow
Love this hidden gem
Really nice place to take the dogs for a walk and for plenty of exercise. There isn't a playground, so kids won't be entertained. Great place to play football and rugby. Nice walk along the canal that stretches out to Leyton and Walthamstow.
Super Park. Would be better if people put their trash more often on the bin but overall it was clean.
Good place to exercise
Legendary adventurous a so green an oasis.
Nice place to go for a picnic or for a run. This is a massive park with adequate parking spaces if looking to drive over here. The are some places to grab food/drink next to the park.
Brilliant for a stroll or to walk the dog, river path to wide fields. Still accessible during lockdown
Great open space
Nice
Hackney marshes (football pitches)are an institution.however, the pitches could do with some basic maintenance ( like a regular cut and re-painting the lines once in a while) . I've seen big holes in the ground of some of the pitches, big enough to fit a foot in and break an ankle. Please fix before someone is hurt really badly
Endless football pitches and nice area to walk around
Great open space for picnics, dog walking
Very smoothly run Mobile Testing Unit site run by DHSC and Hackney Council, not open every day, I went there today and it was very good.
Excellent park and sport facilities. A gem of East London.
so many good memories
Love jogging around this area for peace of mind

Way better now that the goal posts are gone (imo), less people and it feels more open and spacious without them
Great open space with woods and a river fantastic for walking playing sport or just relaxing
Great walk by the canal and also loads of bars to stop by.
Nice place to walk around on a sunny day, didn't see much wildlife

Hackney marshes used to have horse stables there, and was able to walk and check it out. But they tore it down.
