Reviews of National Maritime Museum Gardens
K. B.
Nice museum about maritime history. Some of it was closed off, but the open areas were interesting.
It had an exhibition with paintings of monarchs from the National Portrait Gallery, which is being refurbished. There was an entry fee for the exhibition, but it was free for members.
It is best if you prebook due to covid restrictions on numbers.
A. G.
Lovely garden to relax in and to admire the great view of the old Royal Observatory up the hill
U. M.
For me this was a fantastic visit, we had not intended to visit but found ourselves with some spare time on our hands in Greenwich. The museum was great, the exhibits and artefacts were plentiful of a high quality and many were not stuck behind glass. The information that accompanied the artefacts was interesting and very accessible. I loved the room on Stuart and Tudor ships the models were brilliant. Unfortunately I couldn't stay long enough to see much more and regretted not putting a day aside to do this museum.
B. M.
A pleasant surprise; I learned more about Nelson, an immortal hero and about the naval expeditions to the North West Passage and Antarctica
P. d. M.
Top place. Amazing building placed among some of the most beautiful areas in London like Greenwich Park and Old Royal Navy School. Well structured exhibition of a vast array of interesting things. Loads osf attractions for children.
F. M.
It's really child friendly place. I love it. There's always new activities for kids to enjoy. And not to mention the pram parking inside
P. M.
Interesting museum full with informative and interactive activities for kids and adults. Beautiful venue too. Definitely worth a visit when in Greenwich.
B. Y.
This is such an informative place having historical items there.i loved this place.
J. K.
Maritime museum fantastic.
Has a play area for tots / kids let them burn off energy before exploring the museum which has lots to see and activities on route around the museum to keep your little ones actively involved.
Definitely on the to do list for a return visit.
S. F.
Lovely gardens around the museum and leading in to Greenwich park.
A. S.
In the summer, the water features start working and the back steps become waterfalls, which kids love. Very nice outdoor space to sit and have coffee before / after seeing the museum.
R. R.
Best Royalty points, for now. Whole and plenty. Until Don Monti do not change my mind (with he's experience and gardens sown). Wide space in city Pisa and white architectural buildings gave the same effect of amplitude
F. C. I.
I loved it... the way they're attracting all young and older kids (ship simulator!!!) - great museum!
A. B.
Beautiful! One of the Londin finests parks. A great place to spend a day alone or with friends/family/children. You will not get bored. Hrab your phone and a bottle of water -> and a good mood. Free entrance.
D. D.
this is a true paradise for children, so I recommend that you visit it and not only for children and adults. there is something to see. Spend 3-4 hours for a walk, and if you are with children all day. Delicious snacks, lunch, coffee are offered ..
F. D.
Really enjoyable exhibition lots of miniature ships and other artifacts. The kids also like it very much, easily can spend 3-4 hours jut to wondering around and discovering all the exhibition rooms.
E. M.
Great museum to visit with family. Good for kids. It's more odngallery than a museum because the artifactes are not original. Good access for persons with special needs. Parking is an issue but getting there is easy. Bus is 50 feets away. Must viditv dor tourist.
W.
The Ahoy gallery is great for younger children. Really interactive and very well thought out. My niece loved it.
S. M.
it will be nice place for a relaxing afternoon in summer, just overlooking at the green and these history buildings. Or walk up to the hills and see east London and canary wharf
P. T.
Superb location and enormous amount of Maritime History...... A unique place to visit particularly for taking children on a day out..
A. A. H.
Weather perfect. Greenwich perfection maritime museum terrific
M. S.
Easy access by car and public transport and a great collection of artefacts to see for free. Great kid-friendly place for a family afternoon.
N. S.
Had a picnic with friends and their kids on the grounds outside before heading in to check out the museum. Very child-friendly with a place to park your baby stroller and a play area for kids. The exhibits are well-done and there is a simulatior of the bridge of a modern ship above the indoor Cafe. The only thing that was annoying was the lack of air conditioning in the main hall. It was pretty warm.
N. W.
We arrive pretty late (30min before closing) anyway we saw almost all of the exhibitions. Nice place to come with family.
r. u.
It is an excellent learning place for inquisitive minds. My favourite was Cutty Sark, Planetarium and Prime Meridian point and the new addition is The queens house which takes you back in time when the queen used to reside. In addition to the above the splendid greenery, the trees and the walk is worth the time and money.
M. A. M.
I visited to admire the Nelson exhibit and even though I was tired from all the walking, this display gave me new energy.
A beautiful walkthrough showing the life of the sailors, the way they fought and needless to mention the Trafalgar battle. A lot of cool insights especially since I do Napoleonic reenactment and it was amazing to see for e.g. a sea biscuit from the era.
Nelson's uniform is the closest you can get to the Admiral. Truly a worthwhile experience.
+ Free entrance!
M. B.
A place recommended to visit as an educational treat and this picture captures a wonderful backdrop of the London skyline now.
L. L.
Was great.. lovely place
D. J.
A huge and beautiful garden. It houses Maritime museum, queen's house and Royal observatory.
You can sit in one of the chairs located in passage between queen's house and Maritime museum.
There was a Hospital, then a school in these buildings. Many of these pupilw were enrolled in Navy. Ifound one plank that says that ashes of many such pupils are scattered in these gardens, a trivia you would probably like.
P. E.
Beautiful. The architecture. The symmetry. The weather cooperated. All the faces of the British naval greats. The chapel is beautiful. The dining hall is just as beautiful (though it is 18th c propaganda). The museum and chapel are free to enter.
D. K.
It is a very informative and interaktive museum. You can learn about the great explorers, trade, colonisation period, etc. There is a variety of objects to see, to touch and to hear. The museum is beautifully situated near the park and it is just a short walk to the royal observatory.
D. P.
Interesting museum in beautiful Greenwich. Admission is free. Lots of interesting artifacts, pictures and paintings to look at. There is a cafe, which is definitely London prices. Although you can picnic in the grounds outside. Can be done in half a day. Would recommend a visit.
m. l.
Entry is free for everybody that's really cool and if you wanna visit Greenwich you should visit this place too and take some time with you. You'll need about 2 hours to see everything.
And there're a lot of things for children inside.
5 of 5 stars.
F. T.
The architecture of these buildings is spectacular and the landscape is very beautiful and well thought
S. T.
Considering the Naval powerhouse Britain was I expected a lot more but there was relativly little here. Some good interactive displays for children. They do have a few Nelson artifacts.
S. M.
Great day out with the grand kids
A. C.
I really enjoyed it. As a wheelchair user is was easy to navigate round. Sad that they had a lot of areas closed for refurbishment, but didnt detract from what was there to see.
A. R.
Great museum. One of many in the city of London. Surprisingly more exhibitions fitted in then you would expect. Great for kids with areas where they can interact with the exhibition. Plenty to see and although not 100% forthcoming with the brutality of the British empires maritime history it still has some interesting insights into the British marine history. Entry is free and the usual gift shop located near the exit.
M. M.
Well I liked it because there was a big screen there and a bouncy castle on the royal wedding day!🤴👰And the atmosphere from the crowd was great! I don't think this garden is always that crowded 😉
O. A.
A wonderful place to visit and have fun with family and friends!😊
Y. N.
Quite surprised with this, museum had a lot of interesting and cool looking artifacts, had a quick wander around and would recommend as something to do and it's free too!
M. S.
Always a delight. Just love the space, the views , the history and grandeur of the place
D.
Very lovely Greenwich based museum. One of the top attractions in Greenwich, it explores maritime life from many different perspectives - trade, war, exploitation, life on the poles. Absolutely worth a visit, both for adults as well as for children.
The museum is situated right in the centre of Greenwich and can be nicely integrated into a day trip. Either visit Greenwich Park, the observatory and the planetarium after, or perhaps go towards the Thames, stop by Greenwich market and then visit the Cutty Sark.
Entry for the museum is free, but the seasonal exhibitions usually aren't. Even without them theres plenty to see in the museum and you can easily spend a few hours exploring the 3 floors.
If you're visiting London for a few days, be sure to pop by Greenwich for a day, you won't regret it!
R. D.
The Museum is very informative but not very big, many different rooms however no sign to show where they are. Although well worth the visit and is free to enter.
S. S.
It was amazing! And i didn't have enough time to see even half of it..
A. C. P.
Lovely place with amazing things to see 📸 , and also if you are in love or would love to learn more about ships 🚢 , the world 🌎 at sea 🌊 🚢 etc this is your place and the best part it's free.
B. (.
Lots to do for the family, especially for the younger ones.
R. S.
Fascinating place great to see history at sea
d. c.
Great place to walk around and admire...
Y. Z.
One of the best museum in London. I like the natural light design for the top ceiling of the museum that make it very bright inside.
t. f.
Lovely place to go to and a bit of history to understand and take in
T. S.
Brilliant! Free entry, with paid exhibitions as well. I was a tad worried about keeping my son (aged 5) engaged, but the children's play area eradicated that fear immediately.
s. k. n.
Good place to spent few hours with snacks at moderate price
J. G.
A good thing about london is that nearly all museums are for free. Also this one. Inside there is a lot of interesting stuff about maritime history. Interesting for kids and adults
C.
Very enjoyable and educational visit. There was lots to see and learn about and the entrance is free.
y. W.
Very nice museum, lot of information about marine history. Definitely a good place for family with kids, you can easily spend the whole day here.
a. m.
Gardens were better then the dragon dancing.
J. P.
The National Maritime Museum is just brilliant and you can a nice walk. The area offers everything for families, couples, kids, etc.
B. S.
Very huge with many rooms, very interesting. I also prefer to visit with child.

N. N.
It will be nice place for a relaxing afternoon in summer, just overlooking at the green and these history buildings. Or walk up to the hills and see east London and canary whalf
T. R.
A unique experience. Very well done. Nice staff.
M. R.
Very enjoyable. Kids friendly.
R. O.
We took our grandson here as our daughter lives quite close by. This is such a wonderful place. Several gift shops and several cafes and despite our grandson being only two, plenty to keep him occupied. I was amazed by all the facilities and the genuine greeting and warmth I felt we received from the museum staff. Even during a week day there were visitors and schoolchildren all enjoying the exhibits. I would thoroughly recommend coming here. By the way it’s FREE. Amazing.
J. O.
Very good information and displays well worth going to see it
H. a.
Great place to visit.. Full of history
R. P.
Well worth a visit, but there is so much to see, you need to come another day as well to see it all. Canteen was good, and the staff also.
J. K.
Great museum lots of interesting things. Well worth a vç
J. G.
Just working here ain't wandering around
P. L.
I feel it is more geared up for Children now.
J. H.
Like all museums in the UK, this is free to enter. Great for kids, great location, great place to spend a few hours
R. A.
A museum rammed full of history relating to Britain's trade of slaves and spices. Highly interesting.
R. Y.
Excellent museum Lots of functions Education and history
P. a. T. F.
Only had time for a 2hr visit what I saw was interesting and stimulating often thought provoking I'll need to return for another visit
C. B.
Live this museum and surrounding gardens and walks. Have been coming here since I was a child and I always find something I haven't seen before. There have been a number of changes over the years but it's a museum for all ages. Love the history, the beautiful paintings. The attendants are always friendly and very knowledgeable, can't praise them enough.
N.
National Oceans Day - great event for kids, very interactive learning; mermaids were nice ;-))
R. W.
Nice view. Worth a punt. Museum is good too.
t. j.
Also place to spend the whole day and check out the history of the country
M. M.
Okay nothing spectacular, nice walk area
c. a.
Nice outdoor space, but take some time and enjoy the museum itself.
M. R.
From my point of you this is one of the most beautiful place in London and I'm not surprise to see here quite often recording of film moments here. It's really lovely and with a lot of things to see. For any tourist coming to visit London, you have to come here and walk around. There is so much to see and enjoy that you will probably come even the day after for finally take a rest in the beautiful royal park up to the hill!
f. x.
Nice big museum, lots of information, also on the grounds the Queen's House, 2 floors of historic paintings, and also the Greenwhich Observatory, with the Planetarium, and 3 other interesting museum buildings, and not to forget the Meridian Line.
All these museums are in the Geenwhich Park, very big, also with a great view to London.
G. S.
Fantastic place and so much to see !
i. r.
Naturally beautiful with informative museum
J. C.
The gardens are beautifully maintained and are a delight to walk around.
B. T.
Fantastic modern museum, beautiful interior, bright light and airy. Fascinating exhibitions that go on for ever. Great for kids, great cafes and loads to do, leave most of the day to look round and you still won’t see everything. Highly recommended, can’t wait to go back.
I.
Very nice. Went for an exhibition there and loads of maritime history to go through
D. G.
Lots of history inside that can be viewed by those of any age. A very good open area as you go up to the first floor, with other interesting historical items on display. Areas especially for children make it certainly worth a visit for families.
M. G.
Beautiful museum! Don't miss the shop!
A. D.
Great place to visit. Lots for the children to play and see. Ship simulator. History ooozing every wall and space.
M. R.
Great place full of museums and things to learn
r. d.
Seemed pleasant enough when I walked through
k. b.
There was an ice rink here that was a wonderful experience especially being surrounded by the history that this place holds. I hope they bring it back next year if so do take the kids. But be prepared as it can be quite pricey.
S. G.
OK not really open yes you can go in but most of the museum is closed, covid, there's a good track and trace ticket system i like that but you only really get in to the shop and the cafe.
Will keep a look out for when it's fully open
B. T.
Well kept, nice looking gardens. Surprised to find a Madeiran lavada there!!
S. P.
Beautiful museum. You get to see big engines and nice place to eat
M. D.
Great place but found navigation around buildings difficult as plans were poor. Will probably go midweek in future as Great Map area was a mad house with kids running wild in the same place as people carrying hot drinks. Not enough seating in refreshment areas. Food and refreshment options a little limited. Staff v helpful and exibitions first rate.
K. H.
Fantastic place to bring children when its raining and the weather is a little dull! The new ahoy interactive section is simply fantastic.. With lots to do and see for the children. The place seemed clean although very busy (being the holidays this is expected) and best of all its free (donation appreciated) Will be returning soon!
J. B.
Free admission so was the queens house nice to look round. Queens house mainly housed art work
K. L.
Great place to bring small children to!
On the ground floor there is a big playroom and on the first floor there is a huge continental map on the floor.
There are more exponents and a few exhibitions which will be interesting to the adults as well.
The cafés have nice cakes but the actual food in the ground floor cafe is very expensive for what it is.
And of course the Museum is located in the beautiful Greenwich park so there is more to enjoy.
P. P.
Had been to Greenwich many years ago and returned this summer to share this wonderful experience with my family! The place is amazing and the rich maritime history of our country can not be underestimated!! What an amazing place to visit with the children, all the displays and exhibits created such interest and curiosity that the whole days plans were forgotten so we could spend majority of the time just here! It was definitely time well spent x x x
T. R.
This museum is off the beaten path, so it is not absurdly crowded like others in town, but it is definitely worth the visit.
The displays and exhibits are very well made, very informative and exciting even for the little ones.
If you are a fan of naval history, ships and history in general, find some time to visit, you won't regret!
G. H.
Excellent museum, loads to see and plenty for kids to interact with and be mystified by. Some of it is quite well hidden so take your time if you can and spend a good while... Have been several times over the last 10 years and will continue to go.
G. G.
Big part of it is free to visit. Kids can play with boats and sort of explore the world. There are a few interesting miniatures boats amd other interesting facts and stories.
Might as well have a look if you're in the area
(Glogger Guus on his world tour)
l. l.
It was really interesting. Shame ..the cafe was not open..being disabled it would have been a five star..
R. U.
What an absolute gem of a place. The balance between detail to keep the adults engaged and activities for kids is just right. So many good thing to do in this part of London you could easily spend an entire day here
M. “. S.
Excellent day out for the family. Some great views. MUST MUST visit the planetarium. Cafe has my favourite fish Fingers with chips. Bit pricey at 5.95,but well worth it. Really enjoyed the day. We went at 1400,stil had loads of time to explore
L.
Great museum with all the historical facts, shows the richness in heritage! Peaceful and huge inside! One can spend couple of hours in this place.. quite a few places to eat outside this museum!! Great experience .
P. B.
Didn't have much spare time to spend here. Great place though
A. P.
Good for a family day out. Spent couple of hours with my daughter. On the upper floor, there were activities for kids to keep them occupied. Free entry. Clean toilets, food court and gift shop available. Learned lot of new stuff about the history.
L.
Great venue for ice skating, not as busy as the ones in central London. Pre booked and paid online, no one checked our tickets though.
Such a beautiful place to have an ice skating rink. A little cart around the side of the rink selling hot drinks (inc mulled wine 😋)
It's all very organised, good to get there before you slot so you can change into your ice skates, check you bag in etc.
Only downside is no rules, at least on the 7pm slot. Kids laying on the floor, throwing snowballs at each other, holding hands in a row so you cant pass them. Quite dangerous if you're not super confident on the ice yourself.
Otherwise it's a great rink, in a beautiful setting, with loads of youngsters making it all run smoothly.
A. M.
Great place to wander. Loved the exhibits. Ships models and some fabulous paintings illustrating famous sea battles such as Trafalgar. Currently have an exhibit of the WW1 battle of Jutland in which the might of the British navy faced off against the Imperial German Navy.
C. F.
Neighbouring Cutty Sark and Greenwich Park, this museum offer a great view of maritime history. Most of the displays are free of charge (a donation is welcome) making it a fantastic day out for those on a budget. However there are various paid exhibitions hosted every year that are well worth the money. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable.
J. A.
One of my favourite museums. The special exhibition space in the basement is one of the best around - items can be placed with enough space for excellent multiple person viewing which is my usual complaint against other venues. Definitely worth the trip to Greenwich.
K. W.
Great venue for maritime history in the UK and beyond. For history surrounding the monarchs of the UK, check out the Queen's House and the Old Royal Naval College (on the grounds of Greenwich Palace). Children and adults alike will appreciate this museum.
C. C.
YAS! TO THE MARITIME MUSEUM! It's just too fab for words! The new galleries are great (opened maybe late summer last year) the staff are super friendly. The new cafe (ground floor park side entrance) is lush! The ahoy children play area is great - but does get busy!! Especially school holidays and rainy afternoons. My favourite bits are still the great map and the book shop ;)
G. M.
A beautiful museum for kids and grown up.
C. S.
Good place to lest about London's rich history
M. F.
Great views of London. You have the wonderful Naval museum the Greenwich observatory and planetarium all close together although there is a very steep hill to get to the observatory but it is a climb well worth making. We took our Grandchildren here and we all loved it
I. R. S.
It's a nice little place, although a bit short on content.
Not much to say really, of you want to look at some nice pictures of boats and sailors, and read small plaques about important people who funded this or donated that, the go ahead.
Don't expect to spend hours though.
T. C.
Good info on British naval n trading in Far East n Afrika. How the British empire was built via conquest of the sea.
B. W.
Revisited after a gap of thirty years.
Is it me or have our museums 'dumbed down' ?
In the last couple of years have been disappointed when visiting Tower of London and in particular The Natural History museum.
Maritime museum worth a visit but don't dumb it down anymore. It's not all about toddlers and pre school.
K. S.
A must visit destination in Greenwich. A very well maintained museum. Children will gain lot of knowledge. Lots of activities conducted for kids. No entrance fee. Good signage, audio and video information guide available. Coffee shops around. Restrooms are well maintained. Wheelchair and disabled friendly. Don't miss it.
L. D.
I was expecting beautiful gardens with flowers etc. what we got was a gorgeous land area with topiary. It is lovely and perfect for picnics or letting the kids run off their energy, very well kept.
M. R.
It's a nice museum, albeit people will find it quite small if compared to what others in London can offer, and very family friendly with lots of activities for kids and a huge entertainment area. Pity for the cafè though, it used to be Paul's and it served delicious treats while now is a very bland quite generic corner.
A. K.
Such a learning experience..✌
P. S.
Museum full of history for children and adults, have plenty of time to see all of it and afterwards you will be ready for your refreshment, free admission, enjoy the surrounding walks. Great day out.
P. A.
We went quite late so didnt have time to visit the whole museum.... cant wait to go back and take a proper look. Love what I've seen so far. Everything we saw so far was free, well worth maki g a donation.
A. A.
One of the nice things about London are all the free museums, and this one in particular is a great place for the families, with lots of interactive activities for toddlers and young kids. During prime time in the weekends it gets very busy, especially the children's gallery gets quite loud and crowded.
J.
Beautiful buildings and lovely gardens and parkland.best of all its all free!
m. G.
Way too many kids about like a huge kindergarten, if you suffer migraines stay away, but I am typing this review in mid August to be fair, so maybe there are quieter times.
Otherwise the museum is fascinating.
R. M.
Forgot to add those sorry 😁 Enjoy!
T. V.
I visited today to see the Great British Seaside photo exhibition. Through the work of 4 photographers between the '60s and now, a delightful review of beaches and people around Britain. Well worth a visit.
S. A. S.
Great place to have a wedding or event. Staff are really on it
p. t.
Head a great time the grounds are lovely when the sun is shining and oboy was it shining.
C. K.
Nice to look around if you like maritime history.
C. F.
Great overview of maritime history. Spent time in the Nelson and Navy and Polar Worlds rooms. My main reason for visiting was to look at artifacts from the 1845 Franklin expedition to discover the North West Passage after reading Michael Palin's book.
D. A.
Really beautiful place to visit regardless of sun or rain. Great to visit by boat. Museum is excellent and has just opened up some new galleries that are great for education. Nice cafes.
L. N.
Wonderful place, perhaps the best in South London maybe in the whole of London. If you get the chance to wonder round here be sure to bring the family along as well. Do take the time to walk around too. If you rush it the whole experience is lost
J. F.
One of the best places in the city, plenty for the children lots to interact with plenty of cafes and toilets 🚻 in easy reach, a good walk up the hill to the Royal Park with excellent views a must for anyone visiting Royal 👑 Borough of Greenwich
A. W.
Lots to see and do. Beautiful location. Went with children so a few bits where a little heavy for them. They loved the children's gallery and play area. And esp loved the boat simulator
I. B.
A more traditional English institution you could not find. Architecture of the highest quality. Plenty for kids and grown ups to do. Shame cafe is so expensive (so take a picnic.) But gardens and park are fantastic.
M. R.
Brilliant place to spend a few hours
A.
The best park in east London
P. H.
Well maintained museum of ships, maritime equipments, weapons, etc. It's also got the history covered for various personalities like Admiral Nelson (famous for battle of Trafalgar), old maritime trips to China, India, etc. Good pastime for kids on the first floor. Reasonable entry fees for the museum and very interesting study material for those interested in maritime history.
L. S.
Really enjoyed the whole experience from social distancing measures to the actual information presented within the cabinets. Absolutely amazing!
M. H.
Great place to go. Very educational but fun with some of it. Good place to take the kids. As it's in a park to which house deer. Would recommend a whole day as there's a different market there most days
B. R.
The garden is vast and lush green and I was lucky that it was a bright sunny afternoon. Although that made it very warm but the sun brought out the colours to their best.
It is probably the best gardens in London (or Greenwich...!!!) or anywhere that I've seen.
C. R.
Great place to visit,
K. O.
Very good and not too packed either.
C. B.
British/English history totally educational for children there is nothing from my point of view with regards to Greenwich and its landmarks that is not stunning!!!, also to add soo much to see and not.always enough hrs to investigate it all!!😊🙏👍👍👀👀
P. C.
Great visit with a 3 and 6 year old. Loads to see and do. Nice cafe, pricey, but with free entry to the museum I consider that fair enough.
T. B.
Good day out when added to a trip on the river boats from Westminster bridge. Lots to do, much is without cost. Done this trip several times with different visitors.
K. M.
Well presented historical exhibits some interactive, technical level of info pretty basic but OK - very helpful staff - cafe/restaurants good but pricey, interesting one by 'the great map' - kids welcome & have special play areas.
K. T.
Wonderful museum covering Britain's proud naval heritage. The Battle of Trafalgar exhibition is moving, Turners painting accompanied by dramatic accounts of battle. A worthwhile visit and fitting tribute to the UKs senior service, the Royal Navy.
F. T.
Impressive, definitely worth your time.
D. T.
Beautiful place to relax when there are not too many tourists. The view is amazing with the museum, the royal college and canary wharf in the backdrop. Worth a stop during your day in Greenwich.
H. E.
Proves great experiences can be free
K. O.
Great day out to be had and lots of great exibits. The grounds also are a great walk about providing the weather is nice however it was drizzling when i went and it was still a great walk around.
A. M.
Great museum with a lot to see. Fantastic for kids with an area for under 5 and another for olds ones. There's also a big world map by a cafe for kids to run around.
J. B.
Absolutely fantastic with a big open space for the kids to play with interactive tablets, detailed displays, a small kids play area, helpful staff, a cafe that serves great food and a well stocked shop. Would always recommend coming here.
W. B.
Unique focus on the influence of the sea and ships on the lives of people, societies and culture. Very good interactive displays for children. Great food at the cafe too.
Y. C.
Fantastic museum! Free for charging!
C. G.
Really interesting. Great way to spend a rainy afternoon
J. W.
Surprisingly little to see actually, but there are some amazing pieces and paintings but would not be worth if there were not more to see in the area such as Greenwich observatory and the town.
B. K.
Educational. It's our history.
S.
A brief history of time in the sailors life / evn lives, information kept right from turbine motors till currencies used and morse codes. Definitely a very good experience to visit the museum and you can get the very famous souvenir which has the sailor ship inside the bottle in various shapes and sizes. May be this museum is not for all but some who loves sea travel and interested in marine will definitely love the experience.
A. H.
Congratulations to the Head gardener and their team
H. S.
Lots of green space. Good for picnics and sunbathing. There's a big hill to climb which takes you to the Royal Observatory. Unfortunately, there are no benches along that path.
K. E.
Amazing, history . Lovely gardens, very beautiful gardens and park with a boat lake ride if you fancy, great for kids. . Lovely landscape to view. Perfect !
J. C.
Still a great place to spend an afternoon, better yet that it's warm and inside with lots of plug sockets to charge phones etc. The exhibitions are usually interesting, and there's something for little ones too.
L. C.
Good to learn about the British Empire's strategies and technologies employed to maintain control over global lines of supply, and research into uncharted territories. Building is in a nice setting with a modern (just completed) entrance. Need to go back to explore further.
G. S.
The visit here was cut short due to needing to max out the day and visit The Royal Observatory back to back. However from initial investigations it is great. Plenty to see but wanted more on The Vikings.
B. C.
Great museum in the grounds of Greenwich Park. Free entry
J. S.
A great day out with our 2 year old; something for the whole family.
Dropped a star because of the, ridiculously expensive cafe on the 1st floor.... almost £3 for a croissant or single (small) scone and they bragged about "Soup of the Day - £5.00"!
M. K.
This place is great to take the kids. It's free and there are loads of interactive exhibits for children of all ages.
Food is a bit pricey and there's not a great choice for kids.
D. D.
One of the few museums in London you can visit for free. Yet there is quite a lot to see, it's interactive and even smaller kids will have a lot of fun there.
E. S.
Amazing cultural heritage
J. M.
So much to see, a good day out
D. P.
Good and very interesting
F.
Very pretty in the summer. Nice place for a picnic on a warm clear day. They have a Titanic memorial garden with Iceberg roses. Love it.
A. K.
Cafe is lovely, the play area is excellent however it will go major refurbishment this summer so check it with them before you start your journey with little ones.
T. R.
Very interesting museum you can see the chapel of rest where Nelson was before his funeral
D. V.
Splendid on British naval victories, but what about the Raid on the Medway of 1667? We have searched thoroughly and asked, but nothing on that inspiring part of the Anglo-Dutch relationship.... No worries, the flag of the British flagship can still be admired in the Netherlands.
F. C.
Great place to take the kids
W. G.
Lovely unless you happen to be there on most days when constant aircraft noise from flights landing at LHR 20 miles away ruins the peace.
R. D.
The garden behind the National Maritime Museum is a delightful suntrap with the vista of the Greenwich Park hill with the observatory and General Wolfe at its summit. Not to mention the museum cafe which opens onto it. A real delight.
G. C.
Took my granddaughter skating on the Queen' house ice skating rink, we had a fantastic time.
K. F.
I think the maritime museum was really cool as a foreigner myself I found it enriched with information about Britains naval past however this place is not very big so plan to do a few things not just this when you go here.
T. D.
Awesome that's all I can say.
G. R.
Stunning iconic architecture set along the south Thames and home to the National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Meantime.
The park is idyllic for strolling, jogging, meeting friends, and generally, thinking about life.
It contains the arbitrary place on Earth chosen by the British Empire to be the foundation point of Zero Longitude.
Chosen by the British Empire for the basis of Longitude for shipping around the world during the time of great European exploration around the seas of the World it remains the Zero Longitude point for modern satellite navigation.
As the reference point for Longitude it also the basis of time zones for around the world and one of the International recognised time systems, Greenwich Meantime and the nomenclature GMT (example: Midday or 12:00hrs GMT).
T. A.
Kids loved it, some interesting items to see, great touchy feely displays. Not as good as some of the other museum's in London but worth a visit
S. ..
Cool place to revisit about history.
G. L.
The Cutty Sark boat that has 180 years The National Maritime Museum is amazing, consider this place, to be added up in your list for a lovely visit.
B. P.
It's a brilliant place for kids and toddlers, it's very stimulating and even though our daughter was only 17 months, we could tell she had a great time.
D. E. P.
Beautiful place to spend time and relax in nature. Plus there's stuff you can visit around, after you're done feeding the doves or squirrels...
M. J. i. L.

B. C.
A lovely oasis of calm, but gets popular/crowded at times. Gives a lovely view over East London. Good transport links by bus, rail and DLR.
S. K.
Great place to go with young kids, loads on, and don't forget to go to rather the cuty Sark and or the grenich observatory, loads on all the time, although the tickets for the cuty Sark and observeitery are a bit high, but if you spend the whole day you do find that the money you pay to get in dose pay off in the end
D. R.
Great venue and it's free. I saw better displays on my last visit but they do change.
S. B. s.
The museum is very instructive and educative about the britain's navy. They keep improving the museum. There is also an area for children to play and a cafe.

P. P.
great place with a mix of old and new. Resteraunt and toilets good and disabled friendly. Mix with a day at Greenwich park and the palace.
A. U.
It was a really nice experience. The weather was astonishingly good. I visited the Meridian line and the Royal Observatory. The staff of the Royal Observatory was really friendly. Thank you.
I.
Went to see the Franklin exhibition. Very fascinating and it was nice to see something about the Orkney connection and John Rae with an explanation of the arrogant way in which his factual account was dismissed by those who chose not to hear the truth.
m. k. K.
people visit this place for takinga photograph on Zero meridian line and Queen's palace from top of the hill. Their are two museums, one is a collection of old time Royal boats in the university campus and the other at the hill top that of GMT time management clocks made by various Enginneers in the passage of time, from the pendulum era to atomic era.
N. R.
Its completely free, and steeped in English history. The paintings are absolutely beautiful. Go and get lost in 18th century wonder.

Some interesting exhibits and some which aren't very good. The ones that are good give some background to life during those times while the others might just be a ropey film...
N. J.
This museum is free and full of great facts and artifacts. I enjoyed spending time here and learning about all the things from the past.
M. E.
