Reviews of Southwark Park
C. B.
Before we go home to Devon and after a fantastic weekend and experience watching Argyle play Chelsea we wandered east along the Thames path from Tower Bridge. Glad we did. Not as memorable as other parts of the path but we eventually ended up in this tranquil park....and they had a cafe!! Nice coffee, strange building! Nevertheless we sat overlooking a lake with the sun shining and thought about the wonderful weekend we had just had...
N. K. J.
What's cool about the spot -
Cycling paths, Tennis and Table tennis for free, lots of green space, benches, a circular pond.
Easy spot where you can spend some time and relax. Whilst it's a decent amount of space the main road is really close by which could make some areas of the park quite noisy. Overall definitely a good place to picnic.
If you found my review useful, please do give it a 👍 and follow me on Google Maps for more useful tips around the world.

Nice spacious park where you can use the multi-gym, play cricket in the surrounded net area, play a number of sports on the grass, feed the birds and swans and ducks near the pond area and relax in the flower garden for a bit of peace of quiet.
There's a restaurant you can check out for ice cream. Toilets are open but at times there maybe a lack of toilet roll available so do bring some tissue just in case!
The atmosphere is very chilled and calming.
Watch out for cyclist as at times they do not ring their bells or alert others when near approaching from behind so be mindful!
Tennis courts are available but do get busy during the day so arrive early to avoid the queue.
There is a car parking area which you will obviously have to pay. (I think) LOL
The park does get busy during weekends with people playing music, having little birthday gatherings and things like that.
There is a nice little park area for children to swing and slide!
Come and check out Southwark Park if you live in the area!
V. V. T.
Great park for excises they have a gym by everyone active and athletic track. There is a pond where you can enjoy a bit of wild life.
S. P.
Nice Park, quite a lot of green space, the playground is used a lot, it is pretty nice - a long slide, swings, climbing equipment, round abouts. A garden right next to the playground which is normally peaceful, it overlooks the lake. The cafe is nice, not badly priced, you can sit in our outside the cafe.
C. R.
I like the athletics running track, newly opened gym and long paths which cut across the large grassy lawns.
A great space day or night for fitness and recreational activities. Another London gem as far as parks go because it is generally letter free, not overcrowded and has great facilities on off.
I am looking forward to park events and visiting the bandstand during the summer!
J. D.
Gorgeous park! Lots of lovely plants and a huge lake with ducks and other water birds. Great for a jog or dog walk. There's also a cafe where you can grab a coffee and / or snack.
S. O.
Lovely place with very large area of green*,you can have a walk with your dog,do you meditation 🧘♀️, playfootball, run, do Cricket 🏏, has public toilet, and wide range of other activities 🥳
D. M. F.
Nice Park for a walk. Has different entries in all cardinal points. Lots of sports are played during the weekend. It has a nice kids playground and a new coffee place in the middle of the park.
S. G.
Parrots chasing squirrels from their tree nests (yes, green exotic parrots, seriously!), a pond brimming with life (from fussy swans turning away from you when you're trying to feed them, to a fox stalking poor ducklings)
Plenty of space for sports: tennis courts, a couple of table tennis tables, bowls club, you can play football, cricket and volleyball on wide pitches.
There's a playground with a long slide for kids, and a recently opened cafe.
Overall – a decent size well-maintained park with plenty of greenery and variety of plants and flowers (plus a recently refreshed garden with a character!)
F. P. t. L.
Beautiful and large park excellent for adults and kids situated in South East London.
The park has a very nice lake,a flower gardens well maintained and a lovely playground.
There are a lot of things to do such as visit the art gallery, do outdoor gym, play tennis, cricket or football and why not, you can have a lovely picnic in the grass.
Public toilets are well maintained and very clean all the time.
G. K.
Lovely park but does turn into a bog after a bit of rain. Dog loves it, so that's the main thing.
L. D.
This park in autumn is just beautiful, a bit small to be the main park of the area.
E. R.
This is more than just a neighbourhood park being extremely spacious. Even though it gets crowded on evenings and weekends, there is always space to find a secluded corner for some solitude. From tons of greenery to lakes to play area and to wildlife, this is a ravishing open space. Well accessible by different entrances with favourable opening times.
O. F.
A surprisingly large park that's nice and green. Lots of dogs and runners. I've walked through it many times, admittedly only the same route but I've never come across and signs for toilets. Not sure if there are any, it's definitely not obvious if there is, but thats the only reason I wouldn't give it more stars!
G. M.
Southwark Park is a hidden gem. Lovely bandstand, gardens, and cafe by the lake. Parkrun on a Saturday is great, everyone very friendly. Well worth a trip especially when the weather warns up.
C. W.
Who knew this little gem was here? Pavilion, bandstand, cafe, ice cream van, children's play area, cricket and football. Did I mention ducks and swans? The flora and fauna are dazzling and everything is dog friendly, well mostly. FREE Parking.
b. c.
Loved this park. Great space with a cafe and art gallery by the pond! Wonderful!
A. C.
Very nice place for family time outside. Best playground in the neighborhood.
S. S.
I’ve got to say this is one of london best kept parks. Beautifully maintained, loads of open spaces. Perfect for the little ones and even has a cafe. Don’t forget to bring some rice and oats for the swans and give the garden a visit.
C. W.
Beautiful park, well kept, lovely giant trees
Children loved the kids playground
Ada salter garden is beautiful. Lots of beautiful flowers.
Loved sending the day with family
C. L.
Unexpected lovely space with cafe with outside terrace next to lake which does good breakfast
T. L.
What a beautiful park this is. It has many attractions including the bandstand, bowls lawn, tennis courts, outdoor table tennis, lake, wildlife area and a beautiful Ada Salter Rose Garden. Look out for the Caryatides of Rotherhithe Old Town Hall. I visited a few times and wrote an article for my blog. Here are a few pictures.
O. G.
Excellent walk from Canada Walk, taking in the park with it's very good children's playground, then through the park to the Thames, taking in the historic riverside pub, The Mayflower, ending at Rotherhithe tube station.
C. B.
Big park, with everything that you need: running track, football field, gym machines, kids playground, lake with swans and ducks, coffee place and toilets. This half term week there is also a kids fair with lots of attractions.
There are also tennis courts (free) and ping pong tables.
There are flowers and nice cut grass everywhere.
s.
Had another beautiful morning here we took a picnic just my grandson and myself but we had loads of fun. This Park is for all ages ..dog walkers ...runners..people dance rollerskating it was really good to watch for a while. This park is lovley and it seems to have decent visitors aswell who respect others.
S. A.
Good size park for relaxing, running and cycling.
M. U.
Nice and big park to go on a walk or running. Not too busy and enough space for social distancing. There's also a beautiful lake with swans and other birds.
T.
Southwark Park is a lovely place to take the kids. The swans and geese have had their new babies and the kids love to watch them.
P. L.
Southwark Park is located in Rotherhithe, in central South East London, and is managed by the London Borough of Southwark. It first opened in 1869 by the Metropolitan Board of Works as one of its first parks. It was designed by Alexander McKenzie and covers 63 acres (250,000 m2).[1] It takes its name from being in what was the old Parliamentary constituency of Southwark at the time of its opening.
C. L.
A hidden gem of a park with surprises around every corner
R. D.
Very nicely tucked into the hustle and bustle of the busy city is this sprawling green patch with a pond, ducks, cafe plus play area for the kids. What a saviour... Very nice place...
O. S.
A small park situated in Southwark and 5 minutes walk from Canada Waters Station.
The Ada Salter Gardens are located in the park.
There is also a Cafeteria and public toilets.
B. S.
A delightful place for a Sunday afternoon walk with a beautiful formal garden dedicated to Ada Salter who campaigned for the parks creation. It is also home to not one but two excellent galleries showing contemporary art. The lake is lovely too but works were being carried out so we weren't sure if boating was still possible.
M. S.
Great park with a very big slide and an area behind the slide where the kids play as adventurers.
T. F.
Great Park for a walk, or take the kids, nice duck pond, very clean park.
P. H.
An easy to travers park. Their are plenty of quiet areas to relax. A play park for children. The lake supports a variety of wild life. A large green area allows for sports. The athletics stadium is available for use.
E. Q.
Alice in winterland, lantern show! Was really quite lovely. We ended up walking round in the pouring rain, however was still a magical experience. Worth seeing the lights if you are fan. Drinks and food to be had also! An enjoyable experience for all ages.
M. M.
Large, well maintained park. Something for everyone. Kids parks, tennis courts, cricket cages, futbol/open field, quaint pond, and lots of benches. Ideal place to spend an afternoon and for walking and running.
D. T.
Nice place for families with playground and paved walkways. Lake is a decent center piece with cafe 👍
F. A.

There is a small lake and overall highly recommend
I. L.
Lovely park for a morning run and stroll. 3km approximately for the big walk around both sections of the park
J. W.
Only walked past the park during the 10k Shine Night Walk, it was really dark so didn't see much. But there was a lovely choir singing Take That's Shine as we all walked past which was fab
D. J.
I love this park. Many many happy memories of this place, boating Lake is huge now and there is a lovely cafe in the centre. Also has a really good sports field.
I. D.
Lovely park for a stroll. The rose garden is especially nice
J. W.
The perfect runaround for an energetic cockerpoo.
J. W.
So much happens at Southwark Park during the day. Picnics, football, tennis, baby meetings, running, bike riding, gym, basking in the sun, children's play park, band stand. So much diversity in the area. A beautiful place to be.
A. S.
It beautiful in that park l grow up in that park had some wonderful memories
R. D.
What an amazing transformation. Alice in wonderland themed lantern garden was great fun. I particularly enjoyed pushing the story buttons to listen to the story as you walked around the garden. There was lots to do. Music, small rides and food stands. Although I found the foods a bit on the pricey side. It was a lobely end to the christmas break.
A. H.
This is one of my favorite parks.I've been coming here for a long time, and on my last visit I had the English breakfast plate.this was served by a English lady.I was most impressed on how polite she was,it made all the difference. The plate was hot.The brown bread was granery. The reason why I emphasise the origin of the lady was because on my visit before, the people running the place where very cold.not a thank you or smile.little do they know a small gesture goes a long way in appreciating your visit.
J. S.
New and well maintained next to a water fountain and public toilets.
M. V.
This is the nice place to have family activity especially in summer! Yesterday there was a bicycle competition in the Southwark Park 🏞 and beautiful picnic for everyone
S. T.
Its trees, waterbirds and Ada Salter's garden have inspired and kept me sane throughout the Covid months. Thank you!
A. R.
I lived in southwark all my life and I never visited this park during the day. I did go there for the fireworks at night but that was it. I was there the other week and its such a great afternoon out with the kids. The playground is full of activities so keeps the kids busy and the walk around park was beautifully breathtaking. If you haven't been yet make a trip there and you'll thank me later.
R.
Really nice big park with a big playground (useful if you're visiting with a baby or toddler), cafe and toilets. Easy to access, bus stop is nearby and parking options available. Very nicely maintained and makes a great spot for picnic.
Y. A.
Though the park is huge. We love the play area of the park, children love the big slide, water fountains (opes in summers) the lake, ducks, wildlife.
A. A.
A lovely big park with things to do and see for all ages. When done a visit to the Cafe and sit by the lake brings a good end to a good visit.

On of those parks you go to and can easily spend hour just taking in the landscape, the garden, the pond, the sun and all.
S. G.
Bit of a hidden gem in SE1, more expansive than most of the Bermondsey parks, well maintained and in close proximity. Also has ping pong tables that anyone can use (bring your own rackets and balls of course!)
l. A.
Lovely, safe and fun for adult and kids sans the loose dogs and dog poo

I visited Southwark Park when completing the Thames Bridges challenge trex with friends. A stones throw from the Thames, it is a beautiful open space, park. CONSIDERing how close it is to Central London, its lovely and quiet, and great place to escape the hustle and bustle. We spent about an hout here, it really was a pleasant space. I would go again
R. N.
Its a compact urban park serving the local community very well indeed. Cannot fault it for having all the sporting amenities - short of a swimming-pool! Its a great space to be in for oxygenating one's lungs or getting your fair share of Vit.D. in fair weather.
P. T.
Lovely park... Playground is great for all ages especially in the summer when the water pipes are on for the children.
E. H.
Attended the council fireworks. Tickets free as resident. Impressive show
L. j. p.
Amazing park plenty of space to jog, walk and do your daily exercise. Looks beautiful now with the autumn colours
H. P.
Well maintained park. Small but it’s a nice place for a walk or jog. A small cycle lane would be appreciated by a lot of people.
c. s.
Beautiful park that offers a calm place to walk, sit, run, play sport or enjoy a coffee. Very valuable green space in London.
S. D.
Love this park,cafe-when we can sit in it trees, flowers when its spring etc.
N. H.
Came for the famous 5th of November fireworks, which certainly didn’t disappoint! Easy access from Surrey quays, follow the crowds down to the park. It’s free to enter in the day (gates open at 5) should you be a Southwark resident, aliens have to pre pay. However the fireworks are lit in the athletics field, very close to the fence so you are able to watch, equally as well from the street... for free. bring a Tinny.
S. M.
Pavilion cafe wild life.
L. O.
Lots of space. Nice cafe overlooking a pond in the middle of the park. Sports pitches. Some little more garden like bits too. Not very flowery I think.
N. R.
Niiice and big park for all.Bikers, children, adults, runners, games players....
ע. מ.
Beautiful park! Love this park.
S. U.
Such a great park. If you are into tennis don’t forget to book earlier
S. M.
Having lived in the area for 6 years I can honestly say I never tire of this park. It has been an absolute tonic for local residents to stretch our legs in during all of these lockdowns. A pretty park no matter the season and great for running, of which there are several people doing so everyday.
C.
A great space to enjoy the different areas it offers, from sports in the oval to the quiet Ada Salter garden
E. T.
Great park in the middle of a busy city. It's large (two sections divided by a small road), with a pond with birds and large soccer fields and a running track. One of my favorite parks in London . Definitely worth a visit.
L. T.
Love this Park. Its usually not that busy. I went on Sunday and had lovely strolls between the beautiful plane trees. Grass was green, the park was clean. There's a small coffee shop, not too busy either inside. There was a queue of people waiting to buy a take away drink. There are sports fields like soccer and athletics.
A. P.
Very nice park to spend a day there
R. B.
Well maintained park. Tennis courts, play area, cafe, toilets, exercise area, pond, and track and field. The park is pretty massive and theres heaps of space. Great for a walk by yourself or with some company. Also great for family and small children! Park does open and close at sunrise/sundown
A. D. P.
Large central London park with lots of green space to walk, run, picnic, enjoy a large lake and beautiful gardens. Very well kept and clean.
K. B.
I sat in Ada Salter Garde in Southwark Park. To me it is a little piece of country. I look at the lake. The swans have had babies and the ducks have had their babies too. It's just so peaceful and beautiful.
D. C.
Such a lovely little park. Perfect little playground with water jets in the summer months and plenty for the little ones to do in the under 8s area too.
A. L.
Such a beautiful park with lots to do! Popular for roller skating and there is no shortage of cute doggies. Really easy to access from Surrey Quays station.
M. R.
What a lovely park. Finished a 25km London Bridge walk at the park. Very well kept with hardly any rubbish.
J. D. T.
Amazing park, central patio is sometimes used by musicians to perform. There’s a nice water side with a stone arc as well, very romantic
D. R.
Great place to get away from the busy roads and unwind. Plenty of space to chill on the grass or visit the nice flower garden overlooking the swans and ducks swimming in the small lake in the middle.
G. K.
Good place for a walk with pets. The small children's park is also good.
G. L.
Nice Park, small but well maintained easy to exercise, have a picnic even got a children's area...
E. G.
Fantastic park, a real shame about how much algae is in the lake always, poor ducks, if it wasn't for that the park would be 5*
H. A.
A less well known gem of a park, the Ada Salter rose garden is magical.
K. B.
Nice place for family. Small pond, coffee shop, kids playground, bicycle routes. No barbecue allow.
A. B.

Great park, good for early morning runs. Nice things for kids to do.
M. A.
Beautiful open space. Great place to spend a few hours.
A. B.
Lovely London park. Mature trees, Ada Salter peace garden, lake with heron, space for footie etc. One of my fave London parks. Was awful when the council fenced most of it off for months one winter a couple of years ago to make some money from a 'Winter wonderland'. Keep our parks open and free to use!
S. P. M.
It's an amazing place to chill and relax with friends and family
E. G.
It's lovely and peaceful. Great place to jog
a. c.
Always clean and tidy. Nice place for you to take the children.

I love this park. There's plenty of space to run, walk, cycle and explore. There are two tennis court, a stage for organizing events, couple of table tennis table, a football field, outdoor gym, a cafe and a children mini park complete with swings and slides. There's also a beautiful pond in the middle. A must place to relax and unwind.
T. T.
I visited the tennis courts in Southwark Park. There are four hard surface courts and are in well kept conditions. The nets are in good conditions too. During the weekends it will be busy but waiting for courts aren't usually long as most play for an hour. I didn't see any other facilities like drinking fountains or toilets but there are snack vendors dotted nearby the courts. Well worth a visit for everyone!
A. B. N.
One of the best Park...

s. h.
Lovely park with cricket nets and football ground
X. W.
Loved this park. Wonderful!
G. P.
Always the best place for family 👪
G.
It is a good place to walk. There is a slide and swings for kids. The only problems are people blasting music and trespassing. When the playground is locked, there are numerous kids climing over the fence (Trespassing). It isn't my problem but other than that, it is good.
S. S.
Southwark Park is a beautiful park especially in this time of the year . We have an wonderful coffee shop called The Lodge .
N. B.
Wow I can't believe I never knew about this park with it being so close to where I live. I just happen to pass it while out on a run and decided to run through it instead. What a beautiful park! Needless to say my run ended up being more of a photo session in the park. The beautiful gardens and pond / lake is amazing. The band stand area and the spectacular trees in the park are also breathtaking! I can see myself going back often to sit / walk / run in this lovely park.
D. D.
Beautiful surroundings, well designed, clesr pathways and safe.
C. G.
Newly renovated and bustling playground good for toddlers through teens. The new rope and log climbing structure is so fun I want to go up! Super fun slide and swings for little ones, and a dedicated play area for little ones. Right next to a beautiful new cafe. Love this place. Too bad my kids are getting too old now.
B.
A great city park with four tennis courts
C. K.
Nice park that is kept clean & maintained. It has a bowling green, tennis courts, exercise area, rowing boats & sport pitches. The cafe is bit dated but kept clean & well stocked. Staff are polite. There is a small toddler's play area & a busy kids area, slide is a must for any child! Plenty of trees, ducks, swans, joggers & dogs. Great place in summer as always a festival or event happening.
s. I.
In my opinion is not a very wowing park and it doesn't seem to be very well looked after by the council.
The band stand is very nice doh..
But I have definitely seen better parks in London.

Lovely Park with old trees and and a little lake, great playground for young and older kids. There are lots of places to have a lovely picnic and one whole round walking takes about 45mins.
There is one kiosk to buy ice creams, sandwiches or coffee and the lodge space yoga studio has a cafe with garden into the Park. Super relaxing.
The only thing bothering me are people who just leave their rubbish behind. Like I wanted to let my kids play in the natural area but couldn't as there is broken glass, cigarette buds and all kind of rubbish people leave behind.
A. P.
Definitely one of my favourite places to unwind. Whether I go running or just for a stroll, I can quickly switch gears after a long day at the office. It's just a lovely substitute for the country.
R. K. (. L.
Beautiful open space, surrounded by incredible trees.
D. O.
Plenty of space for walking, running, cycling and playing. Pets welcome.
R. Y.
Great park! A hidden gem!
j. q.
Very nice park with large children's playground, Pond with Swans, Geese & Ducks + loads more!!
J. H.
A mature if smallish park with a sense of history that harks back to pre neo-liberal times, when municipal provision wasn't viewed as parasitic filthy socialism that needs to be sold off and 'made to pay its way'. Easy to park (a pleasant surprise, though I had no need of it on this occasion).
C. F.
It helped me so much during lockdown. I Will Always Remember this park.
Y. A.

Since they've redone the swing park i think this has become my daughters favourite park at the moment.. only downsides are that the cafe is quite expensive and the roads as you come into the park is very uneven and it is very easy to scrape the bottom of your car as you go over the bump. Other than that its a great park.
D. A.
I think is perfect, the park is very calm and clean. You can spend a really good time with your family and friends to just chill or eat anything. Recommended.
S. R.
Yes, nice park, well managed, friendly staff in the park. Open and lovely trees, lake and cafe with sitting at distance outside. Café building of good architecture, go see ✋😌

One of the most beautiful parks in London, and it's truly a gem for people with any ages or interests. From free tennis courts to peaceful corners to read a good book - this park has it all. ;)

Large park in South East London, with enjoyable walks, very good for running and usually not too crowded. It is a valid alternative to other famous London parks.
D. S.
Was over Southwark park yesterday had a grate day with my son his wife and there nice also my 3 year old grandson

An impressive spread of amenities in this commendable medium sized park, one of London’s oldest, dating from 1869 and improved more recently by Lottery funding
Noteworthy scattered veteran Plane trees, landscaped beds, a small lake teeming with water birds, a bandstand, Gallery, Caryatids and so much more; all superbly maintained.
Franky, here’s one of London's finest parks irrespective of size.
Superb facility, astute management and certainly worthy of wider renown.
J. F.
Top 3 parks in London. It's got a great selection of grass to sit on, nice trees for shelter, even a big gazebo. There are some big birds who seem to hang around the water feature. I recommend keeping an eye on them so they don't steal your lunch.
M.
Very nice park, doesn't get too busy

A wonderful park with lots to offer, tennis courts, art gallery, playground and a very good cafe with a excellent menu. The park also has a very nice looking bandstand which is used in the summer for concerts. You can see a very good firework display here in November for 'Old Guy Fawkes’ too.
R. J.

C. M.
Very big park....has a small gallery opposite the new playground area.
Has a pond to feed the ducks, and a quiet garden area.
This park also has a cafe opposite the playground.
Sometimes the water fountain area for the kids works (but it's not consistent)
Also has a workout area, and a toddlers stay and play (term time only)
K. H.
It's a nice big park. There's plenty of grass, there's some tennis courts, some ping pong tables, a bowling green, ponds with birds, some park gym equipment and a track. A lot of people take their dogs here. Nice place for a walk or picnic.
R. B.
It's a nice park on the edge of the city where one can enjoy a walk in the fresh air. Sadly the various facilities are out of action due to covid but theres plenty of space for walking, running, cycling etc.

Love it! It has lots of open space, tennis couts and table tenis, cricket court, lots of people doing spots, exercise machines, a little lake, an art gallery, a children playground, a coffee shop and I'm probably leaving something out. They do fireworks and festivals from time to time too! Happy to live near! 😁

I love Southwark Park, it has so much to offer, football, tennis, pedalos, bandstand (love a bandstand), peaceful corners and the general joy of greenery. ❤
H. C.
Pretty little park with plenty of open space.
ParkRun is here every Saturday at 9am, they also occasionally hold events in the park.
There is a cafe in the center of the park which has toilets, there is also an athletics track at the end of it.
They is a big duck pond with lots of birds. There is also a playground and some outdoor fitness equipment as well.
S. O.
It's a great place Generally for a 12 year old but only good for picnics, a small 4x4 or 5x5 match or a cycling or dog outing but they took out the fountain so you may or may not die of dehydration... just remember that the store at the centre gives free tap water....
P. O. (. P.
Southwark Park is my local park and it's recently been upgraded so it's even better than before.
The children's play ground was redone and there is a great rope climbing area for the kids, they kept the huge wavy slide which is very popular with all the kids.
The Art Gallery area is still being revamped and a new picnic and family area is also still under construction and should be great once it's finished.
The track area which was very run down has already been renovated and a lot of local schools now use it for Athletics and running.
The park has a Rose Garden area which is a lot more quiet than other parts of the Park and looks beautiful all through the year especially Spring and Summer when all the Floers are blooming.
The park also hosts yearly events like the Southwark Summer Fare, and Fireworks on Guys forks night.
P. H.
Nice green space with modern cafe and clean toilets which were open in Feb. A relaxing place to see birds, squirrels and the gardens. We had a nice walk from Tower Bridge along the Thames Path on the south bank past the statues of the inspirational Salter family.
G. J.
Lovely green space in central London. Spacious, it has cafés and a lake. Good sporting and fitness opportunities: football, bowls, tennis and wide open spaces. Interesting bird life, art exhibits and walking / jogging opportunities.
C. B.
Large park with children playground, gallery and areas to play football etc. Good area to walk your dog etc or just to look at your surroundings you could sometimes forget you are surrounded by roads well maintained unfortunately soiled by quad bikes running over the grass area after rain causes mud slicks.
Z. N.
Very nice park. There is beautiful lake with swans and other birds. Kids enjoy well equipped playground.
s. z.
Very nice big park. Jogging cycling tracks. Cafe, toilets small lake. Play rea for kids. Parking space also available
B. D. C.
Great park to walk around and relax.
N. S.
We wheelie bikes so that people stay of streets bikes up knives down
C. H.
A large and beautiful park. The park is much larger than I had imagined. There is a pond, cafe, play areas and even an art gallery at the centre. This year there is also a special Christmas display of large lanterns themed around Disney characters.
K. C.
A very well kept park, especially in relative to other South London parks. Two main sections: the lightly wooded area and the field. Some reconstruction and renovation of the paths. Full outline of the park clocks in at around 2km for those who are there for a jog.
P. Z.
I absolutely love this park! It's a hidden jewel in the unattractive surrounding streets. Huge walk path around it (watch out for the runners), beautiful pond in the middle (bring some snacks for the ducks) and a massive green patch for playing football, rugby, cricket (sigh) or just getting wasted and throwing frisbee with your mates. There are usually lots of dogs around to pet and play with. Don't worry, local playground is fenced so you and your dogs would be safe from small children running around :) all jokes aside, there is a beautifully equipped and fenced playground for the kids, right next to the pond.
The only downside of the park is that management doesn't allow grills, barbequing or any form of naked flames.
Still giving it two thumbs up! :)
R. L.
Beautiful central London park with old style bandstand, toilets easily accessible and lovely duck ponds. Ice cream van in regular attendance and accepts card payment
L. K.
Since the new tennis have been built, this lovely little park has really got its numbers up. The coffee shop has improved, but service is slow.
Nice park to run and wonder. The new tracks are great.. keep up with the improvement , it's getting there!

Kids playing area full of kids enjoying their time. There is also tennis courts which are full at weekend. If you live around you must use there fo picnic. Recomended.

What a gem! I actually didn't know about this park until a friend in the area mentioned it. It's a bit out of the way so locals are more likely to frequent it, but that's what makes it more pleasant and not overcrowded. It's pretty big, with tennis corts, a field, a lake and a garden to walk through.
C. A.
Enjoyable to go there all the time. Good for the kids and adults as well.
A. N.
The combination of tall trees, open green spaces and quiet lake area provides every aspect of walking in a forest. The pretty flowers arrangements, intricate play area, art gallery, tennis and sport pitches are just a nice addition to the feeling of being in nature.
T. M.
Great place for a longer run, dog walk or playing with kids (you can find here an outdoor playground as well). There are tennis courts and other sport facilities as well. The park has a nice garden and lake.
D. Z.
This is truly gorgeous park, amazing beautiful lake with fantastic inner garden, quite a lot benches and old trees, huge open area and good location. impressive! I was there always after my work, ate around the lake and saw the birds play, peaceful beauty.
T. B.
Lovely play area, lake is has too much algae
R. C.
It's a nice, clean park, close to the city. The playground is very good, with separate parts for the younger and older kids. There is also a boating lake, tennis courts, and, for those who love flowers, the Ada Salter garden.
k. s.
It's a really good park to take the kids. You can feed the ducks, ride on the boats, play in the children's park, loads of people can play football on the green at one time because the Green is really big, you can ply tennis on the tennis courts and eat at the cafe.
A. C.
Beautiful environment. Children very happy
C. A.
One of my favourite parks in London. Beautiful scenery, you can do lots of outdoor activities, really nice playgroonds for the kids with newly built facilities next to it. I could keep going about it.

Great Park id recommend it lots. It is very good. There are lots of activities for the kids. You should go. Lots of wildlife it has a football pitch. Fountains and it even has boats where you can go on the pond with ducks, swans ect.
M. L. c.
What a beautiful playground for children!
Very safe and clean. Enclosed by a beautiful fence so that the child will not leave the square. Amazing how the Council cares about the well-being and safety of our children. If you are hungry, want to drink or hang out with friends, you can use the nearby cafe, which has tasty food and amazing service.
Public toilet clean and tidy available to people all day long.
Barriers for cyclists and scooters are available outside the square.
Water fountain available outside the square but needs repair because it doesn't work, I'm sure the Council will fix it quickly.
Overall: fantastic place for familys and friends , surrounded by trees and green grass , what more you will want:).Perfect place for picknic and not only.
S. O.
Lovely park with an art gallery, café, bandstand, children's playground, flower garden and tennis courts. Home to the free Bermondsey Carnival every summer and Bonfire night fireworks display, free for residents!
K. S.
This park is split with a road cutting it in two.Once upon a time you could drive straight through the park but now it's a cul de sac and a free parking zone. On one side is the playground, a lake, athletics ground, football pitches, art galleries, and 50`s style secret garden. The other side has tennis courts - free - a bandstand, and a pleasant tree lined walkways. Trees are large and mature and overall the park is an oasis of calm and not oversubscribed compared to some London parks. A nice cafe between the two zones too. The park is well maintained and my dog loves being here.
M. D.
Nice big park. Great to see so many people using it even during the week. Even saw a fox wandering through the middle of the field at lunchtime
F. N.
Very marvellous, cozy and reliable place, wonderful place to be. With love one, my kids enjoyed it.

V. A. R.
Love this park. Has two sides separated by the road which is open 24/7. Perfect for jogging, pick-nicks and outdoor games. The only thing could make it better is if it would be lit during the evening.
J. G.
The children liked exploring the park they had so much fun

Lovely place to go sunbath or take kids park nice big park there

Another beautiful park in London
C. F.
Great park, usually relatively quiet so good for an escape from the busy city life. The tennis courts are good if you get there early enough, otherwise expect a lengthy wait
A. N.
This is one of south London's best parks. It is well looked after with a cafeteria, small lake and also an athletic track and gym at one end, which is run by Fusion Leisure Centres. It also has festivals with live music, food, drink and fairground rides in July (known as The Event, entrance free), and a fireworks display on 5th November with food and drink stalls (entrance free).
C. P.
Lived in London for well over a decade, and somehow h ad never visited. Glad I have now. Grand park that was resplendent in autumnal colors when we walked though.
L. G.
A nice local park fo residents and local people. There is quite alot of people that use this park.
B. P.
The park is nicely laid out with a lake with islands which are home to wildlife. It is a nice place to walk or exercise.
C. Q.
If you come in from Jamaica Rd. you'll see an outstanding gazebo and you'll be like "That's nice, I wonder if the rest of the park is like this". Keep walking south following the main road and it's a bit of a dive when you're reaching the end. Keep on walking and you'll return back to the gazebo, because this is a loop and you'll leave the park with a smile.
The parkrun every Saturday is the best thing about this park. Thanks to all the volunteers.
R. O.
One of the nicest green spaces in London, especially considering its relatively unknown reputation meaning it is rarely crowded. Garden are fantastic in summer with lots of space for picnics, games and very popular with local sports groups and runners. Also hosts many events including charity runs and small music festivals. Gates close at sunset.
J. H.
this park is a nice big park good for exercise or sitting chilling having a picnic when the weather is nice no kids stuff in there but a nice bandstand there is a cafe but shut it is shut at the moment
R. O.
Lovely big park with athletics field, several football pitch sized grassy areas, duck pond, huge ankle biters play area, victorian ( recreated) bandstand and circle, cafe, art gallery, bowling club, outdoor gym equipment, secret garden and tennis courts. It probably has a one o' clock club and various other park stuff but I can confirm it definitely has trees, shrubs, jogging paths and paraqueets.
There is parking in the park from Southpark park road end but limited spaces.
A. S.
A beautiful free park!
Lots of exercise and fitness space. There are some bodyweight machines, spaces for teams to play sports, exercise groups or just paths for running. There are also tennis courts and an athletics club attached.
For those who have a more relaxing time in mind, there are paths and benches for walking or sitting. People cycle along the paths, although they are not good for skating (too rough). There is also a large pond with wild birds, and a beautiful garden with plants.
It's well located, close to Bermondsey, Canada Water and Surrey Quays tube and Overground. I love going here!
A. D. S.
Love this park. Big enought to run and for the kids to play.
Toilets available (including disable toilets and baby change), kids playground, Caffe, tennis courts and parking
S. I.
Fantastic place to exercise or just relax! Football pitches, tennis courts, playing areas - all with a nice cafe within the park. It's an excellent place to spend a day!

C. F.
This is a lovely park to visit and so close to the river where there are some lovely pubs.I played in this park as a child and still live near it.Sometimes there is music at the bandstand and there is a nice boating lake here.
I recommend The Ship and Mayflower pubs nearby, nice atmosphere and food at these pubs.
K. F.
Big Park with playground, beautiful gardens and a large pond. Not sure what's happening with pond as been full of green algae stuff for over a year now but this didn't ruin my enjoyment of my time here
B. R.
Terrifically well used for team sports & exercise in addition to a destination for kids to play, dogs to walk & adults to amble around & eat / drink at the café.
Currently features free to use tennis courts and outdoor table tennis in great condition, an outdoor gym and a very soon to reopen refurbished athletics track. If you want the athletics track do check the public opening times.
Frequently used as a group 5k and 10k run location, one lap of the park is around 2.2k.
Best part though, shown in the 360 VR pic, is the beautiful rose garden in the centre. Quiet zone with no dogs allowed.
G. W.
A lovely park, with bandstand, lake, cafe, bowling green and gardens.
D. S.
They have put a new climbing frame in recently
B. S.
Lovely park, just south of the Rotherhithe tunnel. Varied areas for kids, a lake, an art gallery and lots of beautiful flora and fauna. Perfect for an afternoon stroll, or some ball games.

Went to Alice in winter land lantern theme. Took tickets on group on which was cheaper than at the gate. Excellent portable toilets provided. Food and drinks available to buy. I believe they are there until Jan 5th 2019.
A. N. D. W.
It's a lovely Park shame they're not really doing much maintenance at the moment (January 2019) in regards to picking up the sticks and branches that have fallen down. It's also a shame that one side of the park is still closed for the Alice in Wonderland event.
J. J.
The Ada Salter garden is really calming place to sit.

Typical local London park. Ideal for a walk that'll take around 30 minutes. Pleanty of amenities including a shop, two galaries, tennis courts and wild life to name but a few. Hosts regular events that can be free or discounted to local residents.

too many people beacuse of covid. but very nice park, wide variety of things to do. Lovely cafe. 5 stars
Z.
Lovely local park. Good for running, playing football it also has a playground for children. Theres a little cafe nearby and an art gallery.
D. S. (.
Nice medium size park. Has a little caffee in there also a tidy little pond. They close it at night leaving just one passage through open for pedestrians. Parking in that passage during the day is free but i dont recommend leaving your car there overnight as i occasionally see shattered glass on that road.
I jog in this park occasionally takes about 13min to do one full lap. Theres also a huge field in the south side where people play football and stuff and sunbath in the summer. Theres also a tennis court in the north west side.
They also do different events there for example cinema sessions on an inflatable screen or concerts in the north part.
P. C. T.
Very nice park. It has a lot of different things that makes the park great. Area for kids, big fields, tree walks, lake, comercial area close and beautiful walks.

Amazing Park. Loved it. Lots to do at this park

Good for running, park run held here every Saturday morning. Also out door gym is useful if you don't want to run.

I happen to be here for the 2019 Fireworks display hosted by the council it was an amazing evening the event is ticketed due to park size if you are a resident of Southwark Borough the tickets are free. you will need to get in touch with the council for prices next year.
L. S.
Lots of open space for picnic and leisure strolls, fun outdoor gym, nice pond with ducks and swans, and a small cafe for refreshment. At the beginning of November each year the Southwark Council also organises free fireworks in the park which is pretty amazing.

I have such a stressful work, that I find this park my piece of heaven. The atmosphere is great, you can relax and ignore all the problems.
Yesterday I had many difficult tasks at work I needed some free time for myself and I went to this quite park. I simply forget about the profit and loss statements, the accounting reports and budget reviews. No invoices and financial reports were in front of me. Only my kids were running across the park. I recommend you to go there with your family- to create precious moments of yours.

I'm often there with my beagle Max, it is a cute and energetic dog. We totally love this park, not only because of the beautiful views, but many dog owners go there for a walk with their beloved pets. Max finds new doggy friends every day. There are many stereotypes concerning all dog people- they are kind, loyal and helpful. On the other side, if you are a cat person you may be willing to explore new things more than anyone else. But as I said in my previous review, there is no matter what your pet actually is.. if it is your buddy and you share many happy moments together.

If it wasn't for the odd stabbings and the relative insignificance of its pond, I would call this park a South London marvel - lush greenery, family-friendly atmosphere, plenty of lawns to lie down on a summer day, enough space for sports... Beautiful landscaping and good maintenance by Southwark borough council services.

Lovely traditional London park in North Bermondsey near the Thames.
A wonderful space.

Great example of a Victorian London Park. Complete with Bandstand, boating lake (with boats and pedalos), formal garden and sports fields. The Art Gallery has some good exhibitions. Great for a stroll.

It's a little gem, huge too, has an Art Gallery and Family area with swings and so.. Very good place to know and to bring friends, family to be nicely surrounded by (the Community at large and of course:) them!

Very beautifully biodiverse park, though currently there's some problems with the waterfowl as they are dying, so there is the stench of decaying bird in some areas, they say they are investigating, surely they would remove the cadavers? Nevertheless, a natural beauty.

Gorgeous park, excellent for a family walk or a pandemic-friendly social!

A lovely park for a will, running or exercise in general. There is a coffee shop and facilities.

Beautiful park. Don't miss any opportunity to go there. And even if you are alone, don't forget that you should be comfortable to stay alone with yourself, with your thoughts - it is not a bad thing! Try to reboot your mind and improve your concentration.

Big and beautiful park with great history to discover

I've never mixed with swankier folk. Came here for tennis, left with the queen's English and a Surry accent. The park offers it all, only thing missing is the band for the band stand, where have they all gone?!? Tennis courts make you feel like Nadal on the colourful turf. Never played on better. But I've only played on two

Great Park with good facilities. Building new cafe but old one nice with toilets. Park has a lovely bandstand

Gorgeous park in Southwark with tons of greenspace and benches. There's also a lot of shade in the park too with lovely old trees and a nice path that makes it a perfect patch for jogging in an otherwise car-covered part London.

Lovely park. Two days ago I was there with my daughter. We had serious conversation about her marriage. I'm sad that she is not happy at all. It is true that the worst pain for a woman is when she smiles just to keep the tears from falling and sleeps just so she doesn't have to think about the problems.
K. B.
Nice clean park. Always well looked after. New Café is opening soon. I always enjoy going here with the family. Keep up the good work.

Yesterday, we spent a pleasant evening in this park. Tommy was running after some squirrels and ducks. I was sitting with Emma on a sunny bench and we were eating baked almonds and cashews. Actually, I rarely buy cashews- they are quite expensive for me. But luckily that day I found these nuts with a great discount, in one distant shop.

Southwark Park is located in Rotherhithe, in central South East London, and is managed by the London Borough of Southwark. It first opened in 1869 by the Metropolitan Board of Works as one of its first parks. It was designed by Alexander McKenzie and covers 63 acres It takes its name from being in what was the old Parliamentary constituency of Southwark at the time of its opening. It received £2.5 million from the National Lottery's Heritage Lottery Fund in 1998 which enabled large parts of the park to be refurbished. The park is protected by Fields in Trust through a legal "Deed of Dedication" safeguarding the future of the space as public recreation land for future generations to enjoy.
The bandstand dates from 1884 and was originally sited in the Royal Horticultural Society grounds at South Kensington. It has a sister in Peckham Rye Park. The Old English Cottage Garden was designed by Col. J.J. Sexby, Parks Superintendent for the London County Council. The idea for the rose garden came from Dr Alfred Salter, Member of Parliament for West Bermondsey. It was opened in 1936 and was named after Ada Salter when she died in 1943.
Other facilities include a cafe, a wildlife garden, a boating lake and an art gallery. Sports facilities include an athletics track run by Fusion, a bowling green, football pitches, a cricket pitch and tennis courts. The park also has a contained children's playground with swings, a slide and other small rides.
It's an exceptionally pleasant greenspace that can be enjoyed by the entire family, and it has great public transportation links as well as parking around the local neighborhoods. Well worth the visit and an escape from the day's worries if you are in the neighborhood. Highly recommended.

We live in one materialistic world. But if we spare some time in order to enjoy being alone in a beautiful park like this one.. well, we may find some inner peace.
Everyone knows that there is a lot of negative energy and stress in our routine. However, we have the power to change this thing.

Wish it were bigger - a beautiful bit of greenery in South East London. It had the band stand, the duck pond, secret Zen garden and the sports centre

Lots of space for both adults and children to run, kick a ball, fly a toy drone you name it. And guess what some "gym" equipment is on site to use free of charge

A good park though small, there is a lake and you can hire a pedal boat or simply seat on a bench and maybe feed the pigeons despite the ban?

Nice park

I've decided to go there in order to clear my mind. A day ago I had severe fighting with my boyfriend. He is ignoring me at the moment. I've read in one article that being ignored causes the same chemical reaction in the brain as being physically hurt. I had no intention to hurt him during our serious discussions, but I'm not sure about him. If you're feeling blue, you can find some peaceful moments in this beautiful park.
A.
Large and beautiful park. Perfect for a walk or some exercise. Lots of families during the Summer and weekends.

I like this park, but unfortunately I don't have enough free time to go there for a long walk in the morning.
The last time when I was there, I was thinking about all the years spent at my university.
Still I can't believe that many people couldn't realise the advantages of higher education. They were complaining every single day.
My point of view is that higher education can benefit you in many ways. University or college simply lets you to experience a rich cultural and social scene, meet different people and study something that is your cup of tea.
But you should choose carefully your major. Keep in in mind that if you have a higher education qualification, your earning potential will be increased and you can expect a rewarding career.

Awesome place to spend time with the family on them fine, sunny days.
