Reviews of Thames Barrier Park
B. B.
This place is simply beautiful. When the sun is out, this is a wholesome place for the entire family. It is very scenic and beautiful. Loads of spots to play, sit and walk. You can ride your bicycles with relative ease and no hassles here or give your dog that walk it needs to stay healthy. Highly recommended for people who need ro get out of the house for a while.
N. C.
Lovely park with beautiful river views. Really nice for a family walk, taking the baby for a stroll, or just going for a run, especially during quiet times. It feels very serene on weekday afternoons. You may even see some fruit trees!
M. F.
A beautiful green space and wonderful place to look at the Thames Barrier which in itself is pretty awesome. And then there is the river, something so relaxing watching the Thames wide and fast flowing here. A very pleasant way to while away a sunny afternoon.
J. G.
Such a nice big park clean and tidy a nice view of the river Thames and the Thames barrier. Go and vist here especially in the summer
P. P.
Nice spot by the river, little park with a playground, tables for a picnic and small car park
A. R. M.
A stunningly beautiful park. It's very peaceful, calm and serene. The flowers and green space is meticulously maintained. A perfect place for couples, families or small, and large groups. It feels almost hidden and well shielded from the city of London. Unplugged and timelessnes.
S. M.
Cant wait to see the space in summer. Amazing hedges. Lovely relaxing view and space of Thames barrier.
H. W.
Interesting eastbound journey on the DLR. Clever wave like topiary garden/walk thru to the river. Disappointed to be denied access to riverside walkway due to construction work. We couldn't find the café - perhaps this is also closed at the moment? Signposts lacking from the DLR. The children had fun at the play park and we enjoyed seeing the barriers from a distance.
M. I.
Such an amazing place to visit of its a nice day. Walk along the river bank and enjoy the sunshine (if you are lucky)
Children play is very nice addition. Hope they will open the cafe again.
T. T.
Great apartment off the A1020 overlooking the Thames River. Royal docks can also be seen from there.

Beautifully laid out public park right next to The Thames Barrier, as the name suggests. Peaceful, quiet, well away from the nearby main roads. Plenty of bench seats to allow people to sit for a while and enjoy the scenery. I've added two photos of the Thames Barrier which were taken from the North bank walkway at the Eastern end of the park.
R. M.
The park is great, lots of green spaces and places to seat and enjoy the great view of Thames river and Thames Barrier.
The cafe and visitor centre is always closed, it would be great to have a coffee while walking around. When is it going to open? :(
H. H.
Relatively small park. It’s quite a shame a lot of the area was closed off due to building works, but it was still cool to walk around.

A First Visit to this Part of London, Specifically to see the Thames Barrier, and Very IMPRESSIVE it is too... Lovely park with Topiary Hedges, and a Large Number of Bee Friendly 🐝 plants & Shrubs... Heather features Strongly... Some Herbs 🌿 to... Very relaxing and soothing...the Hedges ( I believe) are themed on Waves, in keeping with the Thames... Superb views of the Barrier, and its been Raised 205 Times since it became Operational in 1982.... and 114 of those, have Been to protect the Capital against Flooding.... It does make you Think 🤔.... a further 91, were to protect Against Flooding and Fluvial Floods, ( When a River level Rises, due to Excessively high rain 🌧 fall,or Snow melt, ) and Gradually Floods the surrounding Ground/ Banks... Please Enjoy 😉 Russ

Lovely place. Really nice park and it became much better now with the renovation they did recently
J. C.
Excellent place to visit with children. The barriers are spectacular and the park is amazing. Not too crowded and there is a tubular slide which the children love to play with.
P. M.
Great views from the look out point, but you can get the uber ferry from woolwich and get a view from the river
S. A. (.
This park has been a part of my life since childhood. I have many fond memories rolling down the hills and enjoying the dancing water fountains on hot summer days.
Although time has swiftly passed, Thames Barrier is still an incredibly scenic place to be. Unfortunately the fountains were removed years ago but you are still able to enjoy calming riverside views and the beautiful garden in the centre of the park. The grass is well maintained and is healthy in appearance. There are a plentiful amount of trees that give the park beauty and shade from the heat. There is also a basketball court, playground and café for you to enjoy.
I would suggest that if you are in the area, you should definitely visit this park!
M. I.
love this place. Clean, safe and playground for kids is there. I have not seen public toilet. No parking area. Best to go by DLR
M. P.
The Thames Barrier Park is a beautiful park in the East of London. The gardeners and cleaners do an absolutely great job as this park is always really really clean and in perfect condition (grass, plants, trees,...). From the park you can see the Thames Barrier, so the views are nice. Great place to go for a walk (see photos attached).
M. M.
Beautiful park and well maintained. It was not crowded or congested and lovely awash with summer sun! There were lots of dog walkers and families around.
N. M.
Lovely park with a nice view of the river Thames. You can also pick up the river bus from here should you want to go further into London via the Thames. Lots of green spaces to picnic or play on. A nice play area for younger children and toilets, which is handy.
A. D.
Always beautiful, sometimes a bit too many ppl. Since they renovated it it’s 100 times better in terms of space and looks. Would recomand visiting! Beautiful views!
M. A.
Nice and quite place for cycling and exercising. The place is full of greenfield and trees. Also there regularly uber boat services from the pier.
A. Z.
Park looks inviting from Pontoon Dock DLR Station. It's an interesting place where you have different types of grass and bushes in the middle of housing estates where you can feel like Alice in Wonderland. However the same amazing bushes are also a shelter for pests... there is huge problem with rats infestation. When you are walking you can hear bushes moving, which for me personally was terrifying experience when those pest are just unexpectedly crossing your path.
C. W.
Worth a look. Cafe no longer there but toilets still open
L. N.
This is a nice park a few minutes walk from Pontoon dock Station. It doesn't seem very busy it is quite peaceful until the planes fly over (it is on the flight path!). The landscaped garden is pretty and you have a good view of the Thames Barrier. There is a cafe with public toilets, the playground has lots to do and is for children under 14. There are picnic benches dotted around the park
S. D.
Beautiful park looking onto Thames Barrier. Fountains currently out of bounds due to ongoing construction (2 years later....)
Lots of amazing photos to be taken in the sunken wind protected garden where bushes run along in rows shaped as waves in homage to the areas history alongside the river..If I remember correctly, the area was actually used to store some sort of petrol/chemicals and during renovation was cover in about 6 doot of concrete to which the now large open green sits on top. Lots of open green space next to a outdoor gym, basketball pitch and children's playground. The playground is fenced all round with only two entrance/ exit so great for group or family outings and featured plenty to keep kids busy. All the equipment looked in good, well maintained condition. Picnic benches outside of playground, plenty of shade offered by two trees nearby and the visitor pavilion offer sun protection. Toilets available in building nearby but the cafe is permanently closed which is such a shame! Id advise using the Starbucks or newsagents by the DLR station before walking through park if you haven't brought a packed lunch. Great location for day out, fresh air walk or quick boredom buster. W
أ. ن.
Really nice park, excellent for a picnic. Good parking facilities for everyone. Disabled parking and entrance with ramps. Picturesque views of the Thames Barrier and river Thames. The café has male and female toilets, disabled toilet (locked with a radar key) and a baby changing facility. Park also has a children's playground too.
A. R.
Nice park but not a single bar yet. Once that is addressed it will be excellent with a very nice children playground.
A. D. P.
Beautiful park; great for walking, running, picnicking, taking photos; niice view of the River Thames and the Thames Barriers.
R. H.
Peaceful hidden gem...
Went for a summer Picnic, had a lovely afternoon catch up with a family friend.
And yes didn't miss out on the euros 2021 football
m.
Thames Barrier Park is a lovely park with views of the Thames River Barrier. It's a well tended park surrounding by residential blocks on three sides and one side facing the river. The grass were all nicely cut and there's many hedges cut into Thames River Barrier Themed shapes.
There's a lot of construction going on between the DLR and the park, so it can be a bit difficult to find the entrance to the park. You can turn left after exiting the DLF, head east along North Woolwich Road and into the park via Bramell Way. It's such a shame with the construction.
M. H.
Lovely park with lots of greenery and beautiful views. Downside is there isn't really any shops near for drinks and such, so remember to bring with you.
R. C.
Always a great spot for a stroll along the river. As a photographer it is hard to ignore the majesty of the Thames Barrier.
There is a good cafe and plenty of grassy spaces to pop a picnic blanket down. Look forward to popping back soon.

A beautiful area of park out of the way enough to not be overcrowded. Just right to relax and reflect and enjoy a drink in the little cafe, or walk through the garden area that has a wide range of fragrant and colourful flowers ideal for bees and butterflies. The reat view of the Thames Barrier is a bonus. A must do.
A. N.
Beautiful and quiet place. Plenty of space for a picnic with great views. The mini playground is just right for the young ones. Perfect place for a break if riding on the Thames Cycle Route 1 along the Thames River.
S. A.
Beautiful park with lovely features of design, exercise/fitness equipment, playground for kids and stunning walk along the river!
C. D.
Lovely park by the Thames barrier. Will be better when the cafe and toilet facilities open again. Also all the people who drop rubbish when there are bins all around you just because you are trash doesn’t mean the rest of us want to see it. Otherwise a lovely park with gorgeous views.
A. V. M.
Was one of my favourite parks in the area, lovely manicured green space with river views. Close to the Royal Docks and the Air-Line cable cars.
Wish it would re-open properly with parking etc
A. M.
Gorgeous place and very relaxing as well. Ideal for taking your dog for a walk.
H. S.
Small but cute little garden - peaceful Thames side walk
D. B.
Nice and well kept any time of the year. I’ve given 3 stars for the decision to replace the parking area with more buildings and for some dog walkers that insist on not keeping dogs on leads. I don’t care if they are friendly if you are with a big group of dogs, keep them together to avoid missing one when they poop in the park or dogs getting unfriendly towards other dogs. Other than that’s a nice pleasant place to go for a walk with family and friends.
G. B.
Excellent place to visit Fabulous parking And links to so many parts to walk and cycling
Would definitely recommend 👌🏻
O. A.
Beautiful landscaped garden representing waves of river. Has a kids play area and plenty of space for picnics and loads of shaded area too. There is a cafe but it's temporarily closed for now.
A. C.
Very good PLACE to ENJOY afternoon tea or coffee in the park or on the Thames River Bank. HOPE SOON RECONSTRUCTION WORK WILL FINISH AND PEOPLE WOULD ENJOY THE WHOLE SPACE
S. L.
This park has been a part of my life since childhood. I have many fond memories rolling down the hills and enjoying the dancing water fountains on hot summer days.
B. D.
Wee beautiful garden just by the Thames Barrier perfect for those who like to take their civil engineering with amidst a flower meadow!
R. V.
It's a very nice park near the water with different types of spaces that you can explore. It's big and you can find quiet spots everywhere.
B. L.
Lovely location, you wouldn't even know it was in London if it wasn't for the barriers. Clean and well maintained ideal for family outings as there is a child's play park and a cafe
G. C.
Quiet, tidy place for a walk or to spend a time with your family. Has children playground
Z.
The park is a tranquil, nice green space. The play area is good for the kids. It's fenced off, so you feel the kids are secure inside the play area. If you like plane watching, you might get to see a few whilst relaxing here. The city airport is close by. If you Don't like flight noise, then avoid this park.
I feel the park isn't looked after as much as it should be. The toilet area is closed off. It has been for quite a while now. There doesn't seem to be any plans to reopen it. The temporary toilets placed in the park are for ticking the boxes. They are not fit for use. Make sure you come prepared. There are cafes and restaurants nearby with wc facilities for customers. I'm not sure how welcome, non purchasing, people will be to use their facilities.
R. A.
Nice little park by the river. Perfect for a picnic or a lunch break
P. K.
Great play area for smaller children, though some equipment has been removed due to damage. Good views of the barrier.
Not clear if cafe is still open - wasn't open on Good Friday when we visited.
G. O.
Beautiful gem in the middle of Silvertown Docklands. Good scenery, lots of green and definitely a worthwhile place for chilling out/ zoning out / clearing your head.
P. J. N.
Big but not much to do. Too much of open area, thought there were more trees but it is a good place to chill and maybe get some great pictures
G. S. M.
If you're there have a walk and sit down watching the river, low tide high tide and feel the rithm and peace of the nature
G. G.
Great place for kids and family. Parking is free on weekends and public holidays.
D.
Nice little green space, theres plenty of benches along the river
K. F.
Beautiful park with very cool hedges, off the beaten path of tourists. The landscaping is very impressive. Lots of green space. You can go down and walk between the hedges as well.
S. W.
Lovely children's playground for the kids to play. Also nice green areas to relax and have a picnic. Also has an outdoor gym.
D. D.
Good size and good quality playground. Calm, quite and clean. More flowers would make this park a five stars for a family’s weekend picnic.
H. P.
One of our favourite places. The cafe offers fair-trade decaf Soy lattes and my husband assures me that their homemade carrot cake is the best in London. The park is extremely well maintained and doesn't have the mounds of litter you find in so many of the other London parks. The topiary is exquisite and the children's play area is secluded enough that their joyous fun-filled voices do not intrude on a lazy afternoon sun gaze. Nice clean bathrooms
C. B.
A nice place to chill & unwind. Picturesque. Nice scenery. Surrounding area under regeneration.
M. K. A.
Nice outdoor space for picnics, has a play area, toilets available at cafe, lovely flowers and a maze type area.
Close to DLR station.
Only downside was the noisy airplanes departing every now and then from near by.
I. H.
The local Thames barrier park has walkways through and around good for children, buggies and dog walkers also has large park areas and views of the Thames and the barrier itself.
M. N.
Peaceful modern park with great views of the river and the monumental Thames Barrier.
+ Loads of space for picnicking, family or group sports dog walking
+ 'Green dock' Garden can look fabulous in high summer
+ Excellent play park for toddlers
+ Mini hard surfaced sports pitch and outdoor fitness machines
- Cafe currently closed - and has been for around 5 years - with promised opening that gets pushed every season :-/
- Toilets limited and rarely accessible
H. M.
Lovely view of the river and so spacious. A gem of a place.
P. J. N.
Big but not much to do. Too much of open area, thought there were more trees but it is a good place to chill and maybe get some great pictures
Д. H.
Nice park and children playground. Cosy and quite silent.
K. R.
Love this modern and clean looking park!
L. S.
Beautiful place to visit and great space for kids to run around, play ball etc
R. H.
lovely pace nice park in the sunshine weather!
G. B.
Quiet, nicely landscaped area near the Thames Barrier with nice views of same. Good playground for smaller people too
D. B.
Nice and well kept any time of the year. I’ve given 3 stars for the decision to replace the parking area with more buildings and for some dog walkers that insist on not keeping dogs on leads. I don’t care if they are friendly if you are …
S. W.
Lovely children's playground for the kids to play. Also nice green areas to relax and have a picnic. Also has an outdoor gym.
M. M.
Tranquil and mesmerising. Lovely sunshine and open spaces. Sense of being free.
A. L.
First time at the park which is open till late in the summer. Lots of places for kids to play. Plus seating if you just want to view the thames.
M. M.
Great play area and slide, swing and seasaw for kids, great views of the river
J. C.
Walked to the North Bank from the Premier Inn Docklands. The visitor centre, cafe etc is on the other bank, but that didn't bother me.
I spent a pleasant and relaxing 15 minutes admiring the barriers and watching a few yachts gliding through between barrier no's 4 and 5. Plenty of waterbird action going on ducks, oystercatchers and cormorants.
If you want somewhere to enjoy a walk to from the nearby hotels it's ideal.
v. s.
Pleasant and peaceful place for dayout. This area is surrounded with full of greenery along with thames river flowing one side. It's a scenic site to spend your leisure time with your friends and family.
T. D.
What a hidden gem, throughly enjoyed the park which has a lovely playground for the kids. The toilet facilities were poor so that let it down. I will definitely be going again, just waiting for another sunny day!!
M. D. I.
Nice peaceful place to spend the weekend, lots of green, next to River Thames, great views, secure, lots of nice looking buildings too, the area is getting busy with nice coffee shops and the usual Sainsbury's shops, Tesco's, Starbucks, you can also find some playgrounds for the kids to burn some energy. For grown-ups you could even use a public outdoor gym equipment.
Д. H.
Nice park and children playground. Cosy and quite silent.
B. M.
A beautiful little park, with great views of the Thames barrier. It has ornamental flower beds and beautiful hedges. Unfortunately the cafeteria and toilets are closed now for refurbishment.
G. B.
Quiet, nicely landscaped area near the Thames Barrier with nice views of same. Good playground for smaller people too
M. P.
Relaxed spot by the barrier itself, easily accessible from Pontoon Dock DLR station. Very peaceful.
S. M. A. S.
I visited this park today with my family. Really enjoyed the garden, open areas, Thames Barrier, the fresh air and Thames water. The park was full of kids and their parents, grown ups and individuals. I visited this place after 10 years. This place changed a lot. It was more greener than nowadays. There was only 2 apartment blocks back then, now the place is full of new high-rise apartments. But not bad for a family outing in the evening.
S.
If you are visiting the Thames Barrier Park from the Pontoon Dock side, there is little to no signage to indicate you have arrived. Parking could be an issue as the area is primarily residents only parking. The only on-Street parking allows only 1 hr max stay with no return within 1 hour. The Thames Barrier can be reached beyond the residences.
L. S.
Beautiful place to visit and great space for kids to run around, play ball etc
F.
Nicely created park and garden area right next to the Thames barrier. Great for a walk or to sit on the grass (especially with kids). There is a playground and exercise machines within the park.
Good views of the barrier and you can watch ships come and go from the grass area
N. G.
It was good you can enjoy me and my family had at picnic there 2 times and we played games
L. R.
Sad to find that building works on the best view side of the Thames Barrier has completely blocked off public access to see the barrier from the best morning side with the sun on it. Surely a narrow path to the side of the building works enclosure could have been made so the public can reach an area beside the Thames to see the Barrier. The builders said they will have the whole area blocked off for a long time - shame and I think, not absolutely necessary.
N. H.
Nice park with wavey hedges through it trying to give the effect of waves. Although they are in desperate need of a trim, as are the other plants in the garden in need of tlc. The park is easily accessible via Pontoon Dock dlr station & leads onto the Thames Path extension with great views of the Thames Barrier. Note, some of the path us currently being repaired & access can be challenging.
I. G.
Small park with views to the river and the Thames Barriers. Peaceful and with enough green space for the kids to play.
Very well communicated with the DLR.
No barbecue allowed and it is really well taken care of.
Nice shades to rest in a hot sunny day.
R. H.
lovely pace nice park in the sunshine weather!
M. m. c.
Really lovely here. Nice green space for the kids to run around in. Benches too for picnics. watch out woth dogs as there are entrances you can't use with dogs.
A. H. M.
Good park to chill out has a small playground for children & pay by phone parking usually less than £4 for 4 hours
There’s a Near by shop you can grab a few drinks
Still undergoing works
S. “. R.
Took my family to a Fired Garden Event. Was well planned in respect of COVID. otherwise the park is nice and spacious and with nice views of the Thames Barrier with lots of space for walking dogs. There is also a kids play area with climbing frames etc
J. n.
Love this park as been coming here for the last ten years. Lots of changes. Nice to meet up with other dog friendly ppl. Couple nice cafes nearby n new pub few mins walk from the park. Nice views on northern River Thames side
S. H.
Beautiful walk along the Thames River surrounded by natural green beauty. Great open space but can get busy and productive during hot days. Also a public toilet available in the park. Great place for a picnic!
M. J.
Fantastic little gem in East London. Great view of the barrier.
Nice place for a picnic but is very noisy when the planes are overhead.
Y. M.
Good green spaces by the Thames. Nice summer day out. Good childrens play area, outdoor gym and bsketball court.
Mobile public toilets are not maintained.
A. C. A. M.
Love it! Absolutely fun place to be. Lovely river Thames right in front of you, a well manicured garden and park behind you! Wonderful.
K. R.
Love this modern and clean looking park!
L. M.
A lovely park and gardens with river views to sit and enjoy and scenic walks. A but too busy for my liking as it is the only green space for all the surrounding new flats, so off peak is best for a visit.
D. B.
Very nice park loved the bushes shaped like waves
K. P.
Very nice park for an evening stroll or reading a book. Relatively peaceful too
J. H.
A fabulous park, ornate but relaxed, surprisingly larger than one might expect, beautifully looked after and one gets the sense it's respected by those who use it. As the name subtly infers, it's right by the Thames Barrier. Well worth a visit to enjoy the design and sights, including the sunken ornate garden that Capability Brown might look approvingly upon. Well done Newham, if only there were the resources to match this spirit of valuing and celebrating the public spaces of all our parks, whatever their size or location.
A. H.
Having this park right under my apartment block is a blessing. Amazing views, amazing layout. Although I do miss the cafe not being open.
J. K.
I live nearby and often make use of the park. It has recently been refreshed and while small, is a really pleasant place to be even when the weather isn’t so nice. Hopefully the park cafe will open again one day too.
G. t. t. P. b. J. C.
Really great views of the Sydney Opera House of London - the Themes Barriers..lol. Lovely park and children's areas. It's Used by a group of Dog Walkers but they do clean up! Nice open spaces and great for a walk along the river. Not far from O2 and Excel. Great for family photo's!
V. L.
Quiet and clean park overlooking the River! Missing a cafe which will open soon.
S. E.
Stunningly beautiful park. Lovely for a walk on a beautiful day. Nice views of the river and the actual barrier. New development just gone up with shops and a new gastro pub opening soon which will be a great addition to the area. Also has an outdoor gym, play area and plenty of space to walk dogs.
H. T.
Nice modern park with great play area and free toilets. It's not the easiest to find the entrance because of huge building work by the station. But worth it once you do. Cafe isn't open at the moment, but you can still use the toilets. My 4 year old niece loved the play area. And great for picnics, feels fairly spacious despite it being so overlooked by the blocks of flats around.
M. K.
Nice n clean place for a quick outing. Need more benches for seating. Good size playing area for kids. It would have been more good if park has more pavements and more bins.
I wonder in the whole park there were no flowers at all.
Would recommend if u r interested to see Thames barriers.
Good thing: free parking with a convenience store.
I. G.
Really enjoy going there to relax and watch the world go by
G. F.
A great park tucked behind a lot of apartments. Right next to the Thames.
A lot of space, with outdoor gym equipment and a playground.
Ideal for picnics or evening walks.
A. T.
Good Park for walks, dog walks, runs and outdoor activities. There is a small exercise area, which tends to be occupied during summer evenings. Overall good, breezy place for outdoor activities and picnics by the river.
Usually its not crowded and you should be able to find ample space
L. N.
I love this park, it's clean, quiet, has nice scenery and landscape and nature is well taken care of, with a kids play park and exercise section, baketball court and cafe included. I took some lovely shots here on my wedding day.
I would have given this place 5 stars but they have got rid of the free car parking to build more housing, which is a shame as I used to be a regular visitor.
K. L.
Very difficult to find parking, my family tried to find parking in a residential area, that didn't work.
Supposedly there was a nearby hotel with parking for £8
The park itself does not close at said 4:30pm
I think it was around 8pm? Maybe longer.
The park was nice and open lots of green.
A large park for the kids. However it was crowded especially when there is a pendemic.
The ball court is very small. Only half courts really, so you might have to share a hoop or a goal. Plus becareful if you fall as you are playing on gravel.
Toilets and bins are nearby so that's nice.
You can take many great pics
There is not a lot of shade, you would have to lie underneath trees, however these trees aren't thick but frail.
For my pokemon go enthusiast, I wouldn't recommend as pokestops are far apart from each other nor are there nest.
m. t.
Lovely place to go for a walk and the toilets were open and clean.
D. R.
I enjoyed the park, with the Thames Barrier at the end. So interesting to see and read how it works. The park is not big but it was nice and clean. There is also a coffee with a nice space outside to sit down and relax and public toilets at the back.
S. K.
Brilliant walk especially during sunny days!
A. L.
It's a long garden type park with hedges cut is a wavey fashion. It looks cool from above and when on the DLR but from inside it's OK. Maybe better to visit when it's sunny and warm. If you walk through it you will be right on the Thames where you can see the Thames Barrier which is worth seeing.
G. S.
The gardens are great with the wave-cut topiary hedges. The Riverside area was closed when I visited last.
k. u.
Beautifully well kept park, lots of space for a picnic. Directly over looks the Thames, some lovely flats nearby. Small children's play area with swings and slides available. Also a nice little cafe in the park BUT not much choice.
P. H.
This is London’s first park which is along the Thames river. It was quite cold when we visited but walk was beautiful. Architects have taken so much of efforts to design this thoughtful park where green trench runs along the park indicated waves of water. It is eye soothing. It has nice recreational area mainly for children to play. It has decent cafe from where you can get view of entire park. View of thames barriers is spectacular and perfect place for photographers.
K.
Lovely park by the Thames and great to see the mechanism that keeps us all safe from flooding. There’s lots of green spaces for picnics and games, and play areas for children. There’s a cafe but it was closed when we were there so perhaps has seasonal opening hours. There’s a Starbucks super nearby though serving coffees and snacks and a Sainsbury’s for sandwiches, drinks etc for a makeshift picnic.
L. E. P.
A surprising find in East London - nice and plentiful seats, peaceful, and providing a sneak peek to the Thames Barrier. The Thames path continues for half a mile after the park, with housing developments futurely extending it further towards the West India Docks.
S. Z.
Great little park to escape the city. With Starbucks and Sainsbury's nearby it's pretty good for a picnic. There is toilet facilities aswell.
S. A.
Nice clean park, great for picnic. Playground is good too. you see planes taking off every so often, kids loved it. Only downside is parking, it’s very limited and hard to find and quite expensive.
A. C.
Lovely little park with lots of flowers and thus busy bees.
It was very warm out when my partner and I went and we didn't notice any place to get refreshments though. That may change next time we go.
A. s.
Nice lovely park for family and kids. Good children play area and the biggest feature of the park is open air gym with high standard equipment. Only downside is extremely hard to find parking around area as most areas have been converted to residents parking.
B. B.
If you're a lover of London's oddest parks, and I know I am, this is one of them. This place is creepy - it's an potential greatest-flood-overflow whilst having a regimented charm. The cafe in the middle is a treat.
G. C.
I decided to take a detour one morning during my visit to London last August. I had wanted to go see the Thames Barrier, I was aware of the fact that there was a public park there as well. Very clean, modern, nicely laid out, there is a part area for children. Perhaps it was the fact it was really on a week day but one other thing it was was deserted. Very few other people were seen, a jogger or two, some maintenance people and that was pretty much it. I think given the new family oriented apartments being built in the area something like a splash pad might be a nice future addition as a means to bring more people to the park, very close to the DLR. There is a public toilet, it looks at one time to have housed a restaurant/snack bar that was closed but, the toilets themselves were clean and modern. I hope to see it open again in future.
A. A.
It's an experience to walk through the unique gardens. Nice green space next to the river with a good view of the Barrier.
J. M.
The park is a little piece of heaven in the neighborhood. It is generally quite during the week and rather busy in the weekend. All sorts of people are coming, single, runners, family with kids to play. This definitely is a great place for an afternoon in the green.
N. G. A.
All the space kids need. There are tables and benches around for parents. There is a restroom at the cafe. Beautiful architectural design. Wide grounds, great layout and sculpted greenery by the riverside, an overall nice view.
W. P.
Pretty cool. Not much there though.
S. M.
Very nice family park for a picnic, relaxed atmosphere. Would like to visit often.
H. B.
This park has nice views but has no car park area, also needs updating
E. T.
Great place for a picnic, and especially welcoming for dog walkers. A lovely group of dog walkers on weekends at 10am walk together and then chat in the café. The park rangers are nice enough to allow friendly dogs to walk without a leash. Go on and join them, but make sure to clean up after your dog! Also great views of the river and there is a penned off children's playground as well. A scenic route on ground level where you can enjoy the blooms but dogs are not allowed there!
N. G.
Lovely park with stunning views of the Thames Barrier.
S. P.
Great location for a nice walk alongside the river Thames with a fantastic view of the Thames Barrier and Canary Warf
V. c.
Great park!!
M. I.
Great park which faces the Thames on its south side and as it's name suggests is next to the Thames flood barrier across the river. A great place for picnics when the weather allows, also has a children's play area with several different pieces of equipment. Best accessed via DLR at pontoon dock station but please note that the car park no longer exists as they are building flats on it now.
A. K.
Great place to spend a few hrs, great to watch the planes land and take off on City airport runaways, just across the channel.
Sit an relax in one of the bench and let your kids run around. Free parking nearby, visited on a Sunday!
D. F.
Really nice and friendly park right next to the river and the Thames Barriers. Very green and well kept. There is also a small basketball court and playground for children. Very family friendly place to visit well connected to public transport.
J.
A beautiful park and beautiful garden. Really nice walk, however there are building works around the area. We stopped at the cafe and had a snack enjoying the lovely park view and then we walked to view also Thames barrier , very impressed !
P. D.
Nice clean park with big open spaces. Little park area with swings slides climbing frames . nice flower garden area and a little walk near the Thames barrier. Docklands station right next to the park for easy travel and a free carpark
a.
Very organised park to see with family or with the other half. The beautiful layout of the garden in the middle, where you can walk over the top to see the view. The river thames is just a view away from the park, wonderful view of the glittering water flowing down the thames.
A. M.
Still is under construction. Despite there was sign of toilet but I couldn't find any available or ready toilet. It is very hard to find a parking bay if you want to go there with car.
A. B.
Nice clean and well trimmed family park. Beautiful scenery and quite and breezy.
A. S.
A very nice piece of open space next to the Thames Barrier, going for kids to play in, they have public toilets which are good for kids and an baby changing room. Worth a visit if you like to see the sea, barrier and have the kids let loose.
S. M.
Nice and tranquil and a beautiful scenery down @ Thames barrier
L. H. M.
Great park, staff keep it clean. Cafe is opening soon 🤞🏽... Just need people to pick up their litter !!!!
M. D.
Lovely well kept park with a variety of areas to be, has a children's playground, wide open space as well as hedge lined paths, its very convenient to get to and from on the DLR, as well as having some parking space and has great views of the Thames Barrier. There's also a nice looking Caffè situated within the park. The only downside is that the sheltered area overlooking the Thames Barrier has been blocked off (perhaps for renovation) for the past few years!
E. d. l. I.
The wavy hedges are really nice to look at, but the park is a little bare otherwise. You can get a really nice view of the Thames Barrier though, which was the main reason I went there. Seems like a nice place to relax, there is a small play area for kids and there's quite a few benches to sit on.
N. M.
The park beautifully designed with features to cater for different interests. Being located by the Thames and the Thames Barrier adds to the beauty of the scenery.
G. G.
what a smashing park! i recommend a visit!
A. T.
Not the most picturesque of parks but one of London's more recent open spaces since it opened in the early 1980s as part of the installation of the Thames Barrier. The park forms the official point of the Thames Path as well as other parallel strategic London walk routes. Coffee shop very quirky. Local Museum even quirkier.
J. Y.
Visited this lovely park for first time in a while, had 3 excited children looking forward to running through the water fountains as we had done previously. Apparantly due to health and safety they are no longer turnrd on. What a shame the kids used to love it! Just thought id update as a scottish visitor I was talking to was told about the fountain erea to and its still mentioned on the official web site! Still a beautiful place to be but not quite as much fun as it could have been! Oh also you can only stop for 2 hours parking between 7am and 12 so if your'e going for day with kids take the train or arrive after 12.
J. D.
I liked it as my 5 year old son really enjoyed and had a good time. Its quite big to play around and have lot of options in terms of swings and slides.
E. J. M. (.
Depending what your into this may or may not be your thing. The park is located behind and within modern buildings and reaches right upto the edge of the Thames. The view of the barrier isn't spectacular but worth seeing. The space itself is well maintained and gets busy in summer. Great for a short stroll, walks with the dog as is dog friendly but please observe the signs regarding fouling and no go zones which is mainly the central sunken hedgerow maze/rolling hills pathway. Seating and shelter is available and an onsite toilet located at the not in use cafe area. It's a small green space but a sight for sore eyes amid the concrete and industry occupying the area. Easily accessible if your a local or drive but parking is pretty much non existent or private. There is a local DLR Station called SilverTown should you want to commute. A good go see with the family and dog but wouldn't spend my whole day there. Maximum a couple of hours. There is a play area for kids and that's about it.
D. C.
Had some time to kill as my flight was delayed. The park is just one stop down (pontoon Dock) on the DLR so you can drop in for some RnR.
The park has a selection of gardens, open play areas and a kids play area.
Responsible dog owners seem to be welcome. Nice views of the Thames Barrier and some lovely wild gardens.
A. M.
A great river side park that offer ample amount of space and quite atmosphere. It is especially beautiful during sunny days and the Riverside makes for.an awesome spectacle. A must visit for residents on the south side of Thames.
R. L.
This park is great, but... I forsee problems in the future. Firstly there is no parking thanks to the genius idea to build flats on the old car park, these flats will be so close to the DLR you'll be able to jump from your window to the station. Secondly this area is undergoing a huge amount of regeneration, which is good but, there are no real improvements in infrastructure.
X. W.
This is a fantastic little landscaped park with a modern artistic design and a mix of interesting flora and open space next to the Thames Barrier. Some of the wooden decking is starting to rot, which is frankly unsurprising considering nobody thought to re-varnish the wood to protect it, but otherwise this park is well kept. It's particularly interesting to stroll along the wave shaped hedgerows looking at the different plants used. This is also an exceptional place for a photoshoot, and I've seen it used for this purpose many times.
J. O.
Lovely park with nice playground. Peaceful views. Cafe and toilets currently closed due covid lockdown.
J. W.
The wavy gardens are lovely but there is no cafe any more. A park without a cafe doesn't work in London any more
M. J.
Nice park, plenty of benches and grass space for picnics or sunbathing. Great for running as is easy to keep track of distance. One lap is about 1 km.
G. K.
Best parknive been too for a while. There's something for all kinds of people, parents with kids, the exercise enthusiast, the runner, the walker, great garden area to just take in the scenery. Great place for the whole family.
M. N.
Green and serene with great views of the Thames bringing in a cool breeze when the days are hot. Always has been a pleasure to visit for walks, sports or a picnic with the family.
P. B.
Beautiful Park
You can see Thames Barriers, playground is large, loads of green space, there are coffee shops and cafes in the area. Royal Wharf ferry stop is near by
R. H.
Beautiful surroundings. Very relaxing and clean.. has to be my favourite park. Only car park is no longer open when I visited on 14/07/2019. I really hope they reopen it as locating parking is a mission..
N. M.
It is a big lovely park and beutiful to watch with nice breeze.i like going to thames barrier park with my family for a walk and watch the beutiful views, for picnic and relaxation and also kids playing area.
N. B.
First time I've visited this location; it's rather extraordinary what can be built when there's a desire to change
S. S.
Beautiful park, well maintained, once the new coffee shop opens up it will be an amazing place to go for walks and picnics
p. m.
Fabulous walk and views across the river.
S. D.
Cafe in park with hot and cold food.
Children's play area with basketball area also.
Very well kept parkland and especially the hedges.
Great view of the Thames Barrier and the River Thames
D. K.
Great place to walk.
G. A.
Lovely park to visit overlooking Thames River. The only drawback is new construction happening where there was car park before. Also, nice play area for kids and a cafe present in the park too.
S. W.
Nice little park with cafe. Next to Thames Barrier. Easy access via pontoon Dock Station. Free Car Parking at present for both able and disabled to enjoy the park. Although Planning permission has been submitted to build on the car park..
S. S.
Perfect to spend a hot day out. Really huge park with different divided areas whether you are with kids or dogs or just want to run. Have a lovely park for kids too.
R. B.
This is a great place to spend some time lying on the grass and enjoying good weather. During summer time it might be a bit crowded especially on Sat & Sun.
Additionally there is a nice cafe right in the park where you can get delicious cup of latte and other snacks and meals.
R. B.
Its somewhat of a hidden gem. If you drive across from Woolwich side on a sunny evening there are great views across London City airport, East London, Canary Wharf and the Sunset. A great architectural showpiece.
J. L. (.
Lovely little park. Great for dog walking with loads of friendly owners. Great view of the Thames too.
z. g.
Small, but very pristine. There is a Wonderful view on the Thames and an abundance of trees. Also there is a kids playground and an outdoor gym.
Z. P.
The park as a whole was very clean but there are works going on so the toilets are out of use. They have put in a couple of portaloos but they are disgustingly filthy
V. S.
Very unique park, with bushes cut in the shape of the barriers. Interesting. Great place to sit and watch the river go by.
S. P.
Such a beautiful park and really peaceful. There's lovely views and you can tell its maintained well
C. G.
Love it here! Nice to visit with the kids as there is a playground. Nice views over the Thames. I also attend One element fitness classes here which is brilliant.
P. P. K.
Adore this little park with view of Thames barrier. Lots of memories attached to the park as my kids spend a lot of childhood evenings here.
A. M.
Nice park to walk around and have little get together. It has got beautiful view of thames barrier and of course thames river. It has got kids area as well.
D. M.
There is a nice coffee shop with food etc, public toilets available and plenty of parking spaces. Once parked up there are few steps to go up and then you get the full view of the thames barrier. Its best to join this visit with cutty sark which is about 10 min drive away and then walk the tunnel to go to the north side of the river and then walk to O2 or use Emirates lift chairs.
S.
Lovely park, great to do a few laps. Tons of space to lie down and the hedge maze section is wonderful.
G. H. A.
It is very quiet, well maintained with a small play ground for kids and a basketball court.
Along the river, there's a nice walk with some exercise equipment fitted on it.
h. h.
Beautiful park and with the thamas so u can see all the boats great for Pinic and bbq
S. H.
Clean public park next to Thames Barriers. Facilities include a decent playground for children, small basketball court, fitness area, picnic tables, small café, garden area, pavilion and public toilets.
Sadly, the free parking facilities seem to have been permanently closed.
K. J.
This must me one of my favourite places to check out when visiting London if you are interested in more than just "Big Ben" and Trafalgar Square.
On the north bank of the river there is a park which is a good place for a picnic (there is also a caffe there), but for even better views I would recommend the view from the south bank.
To cross the river you would need to either go east to Woolwich and take a ferry (free) or foot tunnel - or go west to O2 (on south side)/Trinity Buoy Wharf (on north side) to take a small boat (about £1/person)
W. T.
Great Park. Quiet and well maintained with great views and very close to the station. Will visit again.
M. I. M.
Its cool and lovely place to spend some hours
Beautiful garden
Lush green areas aĺl around
A cafe is there
Toilets available
wonderful views of river Thames and its barriers
There are high rise building seems good
K. P.
Beautiful park on the bank of the river. A small play area for the little ones. A DLR station outside the park, city airport nearby. Brilliant location. Cafe is good too and very reasonable prices.
N. S.
Lovely place to go for a picnic. We had a great time and the kids have lots to do at the play park. Will definitely visit again
S. H.
Complicated to get a buggy in if you've never been before (used lift as wasn't clear side entrance available with long slope). Rubbish parking. You can't actually walk around the best part of the park as it's just for cosmetic purposes. Won't be returning as it was boring.
D. M. V. N.
Beautiful park next to the Thames Barrier. Well maintained playground and facilities.
M. I.
gotta say its a beautiful park on our doorsteps and doesnt get too busy which is nice. the curvy hedges are trimmed to perfection, hats off to the the hedge trimmer. however the other hedges the squarey ones could do with a once-over ever heard of a dumpy level mate? went there with my main man muminho and it didnt disappoint beautiful summers day an absolute treat! staff are treated poorly btw there was one brudda i met there deserves a better life sort it out council! vet your contractors policies for petes sake!
D. S. N.
Good place to visit and close by to dlr statiion.
O. J.
Nice park on the river Thames
P. G.
Very scenic area with an outdoor gym, playground and plenty of space to walk the dogs.
P. D.
A little hidden gem of open space tucked away towards East London, over-looking the Thames Barrier. I came here with my sister, nephew and family when they were visiting London and needed somewhere on the way home were we could park the car and pop out to have a picnic. We spotted this on the map and thought we'd check it out. Plenty of space to play frisbee and throw a ball about, and some quieter more landscaped areas with seating. It was a real gem of a find. Offering some open grassy areas with trees and also more formal areas, overlookin the river this is a little oasis in what otherwise can be a fairly indistrialised area.
M. Y.
Firstly before I get into this it’s the best park I’ve been too an abusolute gem in the Grimey depths off beckton. It’s amazing has all the facilities you need a river full of piss and weed what more can you ask for well maintained there even have workers there who lie and say they will hook my boy up for a job! But needs more chicks must say had my boy looking at some old lady’s!
J. T.
This is a great liitle park on the edge of the Thames. Not much there but it is a quiet oasis with free parking and easy DLR access. The cafe is ok for a coffee and is very quiet in the week.
A. T.
Great views of the Thames barrier
M. G. a. F.
Brilliant big space to chill out on a nice hot summer's day. Lot's and lot's of space for picnics, outdoor games ect. It also has a newly refurbished playground for the kids!
R. B.
Unimaginative planting and with such an iconic backdrop could be a wonderful place to visit.
They really can do a lot more and be more imaginative with this whole area.
Has great potential and will visit sometime during 2016 and provide an update.
K. B.
Clean and fresh looking lots off nature makes it excellent for walks with the family and sitting down for relaxing also has a children play area!!. Cafe was closed and no shops to buy refreshments
A. B.
Previously would have given 5 stars but they have now limited access to the park by permitting the construction of new luxury flats where the entrance and car park was. So now no car park, step free access or access from the dlr station! Visitor numbers will sadly go down permanently.
A. A.
Beautiful park. No more parking though. I think they want to convert it into a private residents only park. So please, don't stop going. Don't give in to these people.
M. S.
This is a beautiful space by the river. I took one star off because the children's play area was closed for refurbishment. This area is now quite difficult to access due to the loss of car parking spaces.
t. j.
.A nice place to go no matter what the weather including good play area for young children. However if you go for a picnic on the grass areas please watch out for dog poo left by a few inconsiderate dog owners......😖😖
B. F.
It’s a lovely medium sized park, has a space for children to play and a great look at the Thames barrier.
A. G.
REALLY GREAT PARK, cleaned, attractive playground, amazing view
D. S.
Nice and tidy. Caught the weather at the right time, during lunch break. Will go again. Sainsbury was local and theres a bar close by.
C. S.
Lovely place to come with the kids, the dog or just for a stroll, with a good view of the Thames
R. W.
Nice mix of families and young people. Used to use the park when it first opened circa 2002, used to be empty now its extremely popular. Dont live in the area anymore, paid a vist today and enjoyed it.
N. B.
Nice place for a walk with maintained gardens. Can strike out one more place from you too do list of places to seen in London
R. T.
Although this is a lovely Park and gardens has a lovely little cafe with a decked area parking is a nightmare since the council took away the car park to build a block of flats you can park on the main road 1-hour on the side rods up to 4 hrs which is all chargeable you need an app called pay by phone as there are no other ways of paying for parking unless you have a local parking permit this is my local park and when I say parking is a nightmare I mean it if you're planning on coming here pontoon Dock is the closest station which is almost in the park there is a Nissan shop very close by so you can get anything you need and is also cheaper than the cafeteria there is also a coffee shop and another cafeteria within 2 minutes walk
T. J.
Well kept gardens. Lovely view across the thames
F. H.
It's a small park that overlooks the Thames Barrier...it does what it says on the tin.
D. B.
Excellent place to take your children very nice park lots to do have toilet facilities including disabled and the cafe has a good selection of food and drink easy to get to buy car or via Docklands Light Railway
C. G.
Cool place to spend time with family. There are a few terraces around aswell.
P. S.
Nice place for a day out in the sun. Easy access, some nice children area. Unfortunately due to the changes in the area, the park is almost disappearing.
I. S.
Very clean and well groomed
B.
Gorgeous park and the views are to die for!
M. B.
Nice quiet park set against the Thames Barrier. Newham Council do a fantastic job at keeping the park clean and tidy. Transport wise, also very easy to get to.
R. D.
A very nice park with great views. Forger about parking though. It is the most car unfriendly place ever.
A. S.
The park is a sight to behold. Right along the edge of the river its a mixture of concrete and green. The hedgerows meander randomly giving you very different but pleasant views at every step.
M.
Watching the barrier is actually quite the view cafe is small and cramped
P. C.
For a coffee shop in an East London park this place is excellent. Lots of seating (with both chairs around tables as well as sofa's) and a huge sunny terrace.
A. P.
Beautiful park, great for a run. The cafe in the centre is quite nice too.
N. P.
Lovely park, although very crowded on a weekend although we still found room for our picnic. Renovating further so should be even better
M. S.
Nice and tranquil park and amazing views of the Thames barrier
F. C.
Beautiful view, a calm feeling and ample space. Love coming here!
a. “. w.
Nice peaceful small park by the river Thames, mainly frequented by locals from the Royal Docks Apartments

l. o.
Very nice place to go to. Well kept and good for family. Has basketball hoop and football goals with a cafe. Amazing views as well.

One of the best places in East London. Happy to seat near river. 3 to 5 minutes walk from home. Feeling lucky to be neighbour here.
L. V.
Beautiful park, well kept and a good view of the barriers
F. C.
Love it. Nice and big and reasonably quiet. Nice view and lovely café with outside area as well. They have fairtrade coffee and some low carb options if you fancy some food
M. B.
Lovely this park but they have now taken away the parking so you can park on the road but have to pay. Parking is also only 1 hour stay £2.20 per hour really disappointed.
N. H.
Great little park for walking our lovely king charles cavalier... lots of other dog walkers and owners who are very friendly and a nice dog / puppy club on Saturday mornings combined with a coffee at the cafe... plus free parking !!
P. M.
very nice park, i go there with my little dog. I love this place.
A.
Nice local park, great for a jog or a stroll, plenty of benches and lovely view of the river.
C. S.
Beautiful to walk in next to Thames.
K. A.
The park itself is lovely. Unfortunately the cafe is closed and the toilets are very dirty. Not ideal when you go to the park with kids.
K. S.
Nice park with lots of green open space, good size playground. Bit crowded on weekends as standard. Nice ice cream from little shop
T. A.
Really pretty park, not too busy
G. S.
Lovely park by the Thames Barrier and river. Well landscaped, well worth a visit and walk by the Royal Docks.
j. b.
Postmodern landscaping; all acute angles, shapes, contours and 40 shades of green, all well maintained and quite unique in London.
A cafe and DLR Pontoon Dock station on the doormat and with The Thames Barrier a dramatic backdrop, this is a worthwhile destination.
e. r.
Beautiful park on the Thames, such a shame they built on the car park.
Has a very nice cafe and play areas.
E. T.
Very well maintained park. Lots of space for practicing sports, resting o talking with friends.
H. R.
Ah love this park at the edge of River Thames and right next to Thames Barrier. Loved spending time here it being close to appartments near Pontoon Dock station!
R. P.
Chilled park. Good for relaxing
B. C.
Nice open field. Not yet really a park.
M. M.
Was such a lovely and peaceful place to relax and have a picnic with the family, kids loved the play area. Clean and tidy.

Very nice and beautiful atmosphere
E. D.
Worth visiting for views of the sort of alien infrastructure that is the Thames Barrier.
P. T.
Great park, kept really nice. Views of thames are great. Normally nice little cafe there but is temporarily closed.
E. s.
Lovely place for a picnic. It has great views, gardens, coffee shop and a toilet. There is also a playground.
R. H.

Great view for both the Themes and the barrier.

Such a great place for out door eating and a glass of wine lovely views.

A big fan of open spaces and this park is relatively hidden. A lovely space and quite a nice place to chill and explore.

Very Peaceful place,
There was a restaurant and when going near the barriers it was breathtaking. All the plants and biodiversity in the park just make it super nice!

Interesting place. Modern style park.
V. M.
A very nice park! Thames by its side & a view of the Barriers on Thames! Must visit during Summer time.
G. E.
Nice location and good place to be with family & friends but bathroom facilities are closed and the maze in the middle looked like it needs some TLC.
M. A.
Good place to walk and have some fun with kids 🙂
S. K.
Very nice park, with outdoor gym.
Very nice place especially for the summer sunny days.
K. H.
such a shame there is nowhere to park anymore, took the car park away for redevelopment. Not able to go there anymore with a toddler on tow. ...such a shame loved this park.
F. C.
Great place, loved the area, really well maintained.
A. A.
Beautiful park, large green areas for picnics. Dedicated junior play area.

A nice underestimated park.
Parallel with the river Thames
