Reviews of Tooting Bec Common
J. H. L.
Serene view this morning 😍frost covered grass. I parked up and watched the sun rise. Its a good flat-land park ideal for jogging and sports. Kite flying is fine as long as wind is strong enough. Cool park for above things
K. D.
Huge open green space with lots of community use for sports and kids activities. Good cafe!
B. K.
I love Tooting Common.Best place to relax and jogging .whenever I have time I am visiting Tooting Common. Children play area is awesome. It has a pond with wildlife which is great, and it's nice to just go,besides the Tooting Bec Lido is there.
J. T. A.
It is a well located park, with free parking, playground a pound, coffee shop, tennis courts and more. Nice place to enjoy a relaxing day.
Z. S.
Great park in Tooting. It's well maintained and has many amenities including children playgrounds, paved paths for cycling, running and walking as well as several paths that are not for cyclists, only pedestrians.
There are tennis courts and a pond full of waterfowl.
Also on the North end is a small cafe where you can get coffee and other treats.
Lots of treed areas and paths to explore and plenty of open green spaces.
It does get quite busy on the weekend, but overall a pleasant place to spend time.
L.
A lovely park, but it tends to be uncommonly muddy, so bring some solid boots or wellies if you're serious about a walk.
Plan your jog carefully!

Who would have thought this gem of a common is in Tooting? I lived at Tooting Bec years ago and never ventured to the Common but have since discovered it and it's fantastic! About 3 miles in circumference, it is such a nice walk and relaxing in the summer.
A. G.
I quite like this common. There are tennis courts, a gym with an athletic running track, an outdoor swimming pool (one of my friends uses it), a cafe, a children’s play area and a pond. There’s also a small free car park (beware- it’s usually full). One of my favourite things is the green parakeets who fly about. Yes they are still flying about in December!!! I have walked on this common for years. If you have a dog, enjoy but beware some dogs are not friendly (my poodle was attacked more than once). However, the majority are lovely. A military fitness group uses the common as do a lot of personal trainers so it’s quite good fun to see them when running. In the summer there’s an ice cream van by the car park. The common is quite large and at one end extends to Balham.

I must say that the place is beautiful. Looks like from a sixties movies, very colourful and classic. A big swimming pool, very clean (but a bit cold!!) A bit overpriced but is the normal in the Lidos nowadays. Food was a bit too expensive and the ques were massive!!
On the down side I must say that the staff should be a bit more strict with the people running around and jumping into the pool, maybe they did not cross the line, but It made me feel more alert about the whole situation when swimming in the deep end, where these people where. Shame
A. m.
Huge common consisting of 3/4 diferent areas, part of the ancient forest of London. 2 huge kids areas, 6 tennis courts, UK's longest outdoor pool (93 metres) tooting bec Lido. One cafe, a lovely large pond with several types of birds including, moorhens, geese, ducks, swans, herons and periquits even a family of turtles! Brilliant place to go for a run, pic nic, walk the dog and get away form city hustle
D. D.
Really fantastic Common, lots of places to picnic, largest Lido in Europe, fenced in running track with seating for spectators and Gym, a lake with wild foul and Terrapins, tennis courts, 2 children's playgrounds and woodland walks. Go down and take a walk around, there are loads of different sections, make sure you visit them all. If you like this review, can you please click the like symbol below. Thank you!

Tooting Bec Common is such a wonderful place to walk or bike during spring. The woods are filled with trees in blossom and beautiful soft green leaves. I paricularly loved seeing the red chestnuts in flower. Great mixture of open space, woodland paths and an adventure playground to boot.
S.
A lovely park in the middle of a very urban and built up area. Full of joggers, dogs and children playing on the grass.
If you're in the area and need a break from concrete, have a quick bimble through and forget you're in the big city
H. B.
Large expanse of common with some wooded areas. A large pond with an assortment of ducks and birds to feed, and a terrapin that sunbaths in the summer. A decent playground too for little ones, and a swimming pool/lido open during pre covid times. Only downside is it's a complete boggy mudpit during winter so most of grass is completely unusable and even main paths are sometimes inaccessible without wellies. There are also a lot of rats in the undergrowth (particularly at quiet times without a lot of dogs around) but we don't really mind them...this is London after all... Don't forget the puddlesuits for little ones!
C. D.
A lovely local park popular for runners or simply relaxing walks. Beautiful open space with a small lake where fishing is allower. It is possible to admire the wild life
N. A.
Very nice out doors attraction to visit 😊 BBSC. British Bangladeshi society Croydon playing a soccer ⚽️ match at tooting BEC Park.
R. V.
Pretty area, nice park and green space. Suitable for picnic, ball games, jogging, walking etc. The location and area is quiet, organized and well maintained. The pools are also very close and basically attached partially to this common. It's a good idea to take some break here in my opinion.
A. S.
It’s a lovely park . I go there quite often with my families. Love to feed the birds and ducks . It’s a great feeling when you feed them .
A. B. -. C.
Lovely place for walking a dog, riding a bike or just a stroll. Lots of lovely greenery and a pond with lovely ducks, Swans and turtles in. There is a lovely cafe here too
T. I.
Great park, kids playground, tennis courts, cafe, duck pond. All it needs is some public loos & it'll be perfect.
T. S.
Lovely play area for children the pond with the ducks is most appealing
S.
Beautiful place to get away and have a nice walk. Lovely trees and walkways
P. G.
Beautiful city park!
S. N.
Relaxing park. Didn't realise how big it was. Playgrounds, tennis courts, athletic track and a beautiful lake.
A. M.
Lots of walking trails to follow. I like the fact that you can get a sense of seclusion in the thick forest like areas and then turn a corner and you are back on a busy crowded road. P.S found these amazing mushrooms too.
A. A.
Nice place to to be and relax. Great for kids with swings etc, and for all kids, all ages, there is something for them all to do and be occupied. Parents and carers all go there regularly, especially after school and weekends. The pond area is very nice too, sit and relax. There is parking for free to that's a bonus! Tennis courts are excellent- chargeable.
If you walk across the park, pass the tennis courts, playing area then cross the balham road and enter that park further down there is a sandy area for the kids. Definitely recommend.
A. A.
Nice park for walk or picnic please visit nearby Radbourne Road Hyde Farm little shop with Italian products and provide lovely hot coffee to take away or you can buy cupcakes or donuts
S. H. B. i. a. B.
My local and I love it, also so happy with the recent grass restoration. Just wish so many people would stop with the littering!!
l. a.
A lovely space used by everyone for exercise, relaxing walks, swimming at the Lido and athletics training at the track.
R. D.
Great to be back but just frustrating to be limited to 45 minutes (and widths only) by the rationing system required for COVID social diistancing.
G. C.
Very nice place, a big park with an eye of water and a very good playground for kids
C. O.
Great for dog walking and kids. Big open spaces, playground, tennis courts, duck pond, cafe, football pitches, cricket area and lido. Parkrun on a Sat morning, music events and visits from the fair.
D. B.
Had a lovely walk here with the dogs. Plenty of poo bins which is always a must. Forgot how big the commons were as not heen to London for a few years. Didnt even know this petrified wood was here til this visit.
M. A.
Tooting common is an under appreciated beautiful set of lungs in a busy area. The light in the summer is immense.
D. J.
Fabulous common, with the icing on the cake being the the magnificent outdoor pool (when it's eventually opened)
A. B. (.
Lovely large park with both open green space and woodland. Tennis courts and play area for kids near to a cafe.
I. H.
Great Park, has it all. Lake, walks, excellent cafe, friendly people
M. K.
Love it! Nice place for Kids to get rid of their energy. A little pond with ducks , gooses and other birds is just beautiful.
A. P.
Newly discovered with free parking. Lovely lake with wildlife and a very welcoming cafe! Dog and children friendly with eight public tennis courts! These are chargeable and bookable! Great place for all generations!
A. N.
Love this Park, Sandpit for kids, fishing lake, paddling pool, playgrounds, tennis courts, and that little cafe in the middle makes wonderful food! Always feel here like on holidays
P. G.
Large open space with wooded areas.
Various sports pitches and a lido. Room to play games. Crossed by cycle paths.
A couple of cafes and sometimes an ice cream van.
Pretty busy at peak times.
Paths are often muddy and can flood after rain.
L. B.
Lovely large park with lots of open space
I. R.
Loved it. Plenty of beautiful open space and surrounded by some stunning period properties and woods. For the sportier types there are the likes of tennis courts, cricket and football pitches together with athletics club.
M. T.
Quite diverse for the size: a nice lido, great grassy bits and the woods are really nice, but dirty (condoms, bottles, syringes), so children need closed supervision there. The playgrounds are good but busy.
J. W.
A nice park but can be a bit bleak in winter. Paths are not very wide and often crowded or have cyclists on them. Some of them are muddy in winter as well. The roads cutting across the common break it up and make it sightly inconvenient for running or meandering around. Despite all that it's still a beautiful park and has some lovely children play spaces
B. T.
It's a lovely area, the downfall is there are no toilets available. I did a Google search for toilets and it came back as the toilets are by the running track. We were at the children's play area which would be quite a walk for a child !!!!
R. S.
This is a great public space with lots of activities like park run or fitness etc. Good place to relax in the sunshine.
S. T.
A great place to spend time with family and pets
R. R.
Big open spaces it also has a lido for outdoor swimming which you can book in advance or grab a membership for the month... Was so cold swimming on the day I visited but can imagine it being easier to swim in a warmer day.
s. j.
It a great place to take the kids to. They have a variety of different things they could play with small or big.
It somewhere the parents can relax and stay in the shed in .
A. H.
Wow 😍
C. B.
It's my place to go living around here. Pretty big common with cafe! Just missing loos around
O. W. K.
We like to walk there with children and dog as well. Nice and clean place
D. P.
I like Tooting Bec common. It has some lovely open spaces and plenty of paths to walk. Some people think it's dodgy but it's the nicest park in Wandsworth to me. It can get really really busy on hot sunny days, but worth a visit just for the pond.
N. C.
For once the Egyptian geese goslings have survived the dogs and the swans. Work ongoing to improve the lake and let more light in for more plan life to grow. A great common getting even better
M. P.
Tooting common is a great place, I walk my dog here daily and she loves it!
T.
Nice park
I. T.
I recommend you go as it is great fun!
He should do something to get in faster as I stood in the queue for about two and a half hours..
L. O.
Lovely place never been there it was lovely & sunny didn't walk the whole place as my son said its very big but what I saw was nice & my dogs liked it to
M. M.
Nice and quiet, plenty of space to get lost in
W. R.
One of the classics, with THE Lido. None but the brave deserve the fair. Just saying... For something a little warmer, ask a passer by where they got their hot drink for directions to the little café. Or look up "Tooting Bec Common Café"
I have confusingly added a photo of a changing room, not the eatery.
I. S.
My favourite spot for my weekend runs.
p. p.
Great place for a family walk
M. K.
I really like Tooting Common. There are plenty of trees, lots of mud and a café. Loads of little woodland areas you could lose your kids in for a few precious minutes of peace.
I suggest you don't come here as it's best when there's no one else there.
C. I.
Lovely place to be has so much to offer everyone x
J.
Beautiful and peaceful walk in the park with my hubby on a late Sunday afternoon. Very relaxed, lots of people quietly doing their own thing. You do not see this in the US, on a Sunday. At this time folks are typically preparing for the upcoming work week. A park would be vacant. It was very nice to see a change of pace.
d. a.
Amazing park for the family and everyone , an amazing cafe where you can have breakfast - lunch and spend the whole day there!
Highly recommend people going there to enjoy the wildlife and fresh air .
O. I.
Love this place as I used to come here regularly as a kid. It's very peaceful and nice to take a walk or feed the ducks. Now I'm taking my brother's kids and realising the place needs an update. Mud paths have gotten wider over the years and the council have never bothered to pave them. The play area could be updated too.
N. P.
It is my favourite common in the area as there are small but nice woodland paths not only big open space as usually. My kids and dog love it and we can spend couple of hours looking for creatures and creepy crawlies and enjoying the nature and pond as well as coffee shop and playground in there.
C. D.
Tooting Folk and Blues Festival on the common on 5 August. Great show and very well organised
L. S.
A very popular park for sports loving young people. Good surface park with less concrete footpaths and more place to play.
T. S. s.
By far one of my favourite parks to go, wide range of areas and fields for children and adults to play relax and picnic. Large pond, mind you its very naturally dirty. Cafe available and the lido is amazingly cold and refreshing!
G. G.
South-west London is well-provided with open common land dating back to mediaeval origins. The Commons today are protected by legislation over and above other public parks. They provide wide sweeps of natural landscape and amenity sports facilities. Tooting Common is a Site of Metropolitan Importance due to its stretches of acid grassland, and it is notable for the many large oak trees and historic avenues. Look for the London County Council boundary markers.
N. B.
Tooting Bec Common has everything you need for a leisurely walk; a café (which does a great hot chocolate and good variety of teas), a playground for your children and a duck lake with lots of viewing platforms and benches. The carpark is free too which is always a treat. Definitely recommend.
F.
A nice park. It's big but not like Battersea park or anything. It runs through tooting and Balham I think? Would recommend.
L. M.
Lovely place to wander, but too many busy roads criss-crossing it
R. S.
A gorgeous haven of peace in a crazy city. ParkRun meets each Saturday near the Cafe top left side of the common.
N. B.
Went for my sons athletics competition. It's a lovely place, decent clean seating area but sadly no shelter. Although there was decent grass space for putting up club tents. Food and drinks were available. Good amount of toilets, there was also a Gym but not to be used for spectators.
i.
Very Muddy, hard paths ok.
Z. G.
Major common in tooting with play areas for the kids, duck ponds, swimming lido and a gym as well as parking.
Great open space - a lot of bushes to trek in although quite creepy.
Great for walking your dog - very large area
D. F.
Beautiful place to spend some time outside in tooting. There are playing fields for different sports such as tennis, football and more. There is a lido next to the park. There are playgrounds for children. Great for families or for people who wants to do some sports.
a. w.
A well kept large common area with mixed sports facilities from running and field track to swimming lido to children's play area and lake. Some areas can get a bit wet and muddy. Used for exercise groups runners football dog walkers and general public.
A. J.
Like Wandsworth Common the Railway splits it in two. There is no bridge over the track as is the case with Wandsworth. So go over the road bridge either side. Lovely ponds and plenty of space.
I. L.
Great Park and playground, always nice for a picnic or seeing the birds in the pond. Just you can't make barbecues there and you should be able to. And since they chopped the trees in the walkway it has lost some charm. So not 5 stars.
P. E.
Nice massive open space park with kids park, nice tennis courts, a little lake/pond and plenty of walking opportunity. Plenty of space to sit and chill.
L.
Love this place it's so big with loads of activities and really good spaces to relax in the sun or wonder around greenery.
A. P.
Lovely large Common with a good children's playground. It's next to the Tooting Lido
A. A.
Great place for a walk and social distance
E. D.
I like this common especially in the summer it gets busy and can have bbqs on the green, is a nice family friendly place and people are friendly too. Great massive common to walk the dogs as well as a park for the children to play and tennis courts for the more active people 😉
L. B.
Need to improve paths all the way round post couple of maps other than that pretty good - barring car park
S. R.
Amazing place to clear your head taking Dog or Cat for a walk
B. D.
The best park complex in town! Big, trees, bushes, green for sports and picnicking. Not the bare grass. Recommended 10/10
r. a.
One of the best parks in south London, large with many facilities including swimming pool outdoor, tennis courts, athletic track and many different walks and parking. Great for kids and families and patrol by wardens ensure no barbecues. Bins and toilets are also on site.
M. T.
A beautifulopen space, where one can easily keep away from other walkers. Had a lovely takeaway coffee and warched the many varieties of water birds. Beware- muddy
J. J. P.
Lovely Park / big green area, tennis courts and a Lido!!
G. x.
How can you not come to this park and if you have kids you have to venture down. There is so much to do here for everyone. Lots of joggers. Dog walkers. Walkers. Baby walkers. Kiddie walkers. Old walkers. Young walkers. All sorts of shaped Walkers. I even saw a packet of walkers! Come on down. You will enjoy your time here. Trust me...
M. M.
Quite nice woodland section, lots of grass and open spaces to relax in the sun, saw a rat cross my path walking by the lake.
K.
Sits quite a few people but definitely a bit crowded at times. Plus the entrance is quite hard to get to if you were to have any troubles with walking or travelling. Not many parking spaces . But lovely to see an area which encourages participation from the younger generation which is hard to find these days
A. L.
Nice park but not plenty of space for dogs specially large breeds!
A. P.
Love this place, a bit higgidibobbody being split by roads and a train line but a great place for running, walking, woods, lake, wild life etc.
M. K.
Great if you own dogs like myself. Lots of things going on and a lovely cafe. Only problem is that it is super muddy during the rainy season! You definitely need your wellies!!
h. k.
Beautiful Atmosphere Lovely people great music
K. S.
It's calm and beautiful !
r.
Great common with spacious greens to enjoy a nice picnic on all whilst sipping a drink! Some lovely sunsets can be captured on camera here.
z. n.
Lovely open space. Great for running. On a hot summers day this place is an ideal picnic location. I run around the common quite frequently and absolutely love area.
M. V.
Love tooting common check it out if you like swimming (lido) running track, area for cricket, football check it out. Used by Cyclist and dog walkers .
Please don’t burn the grass with barbecues.
Go explore, you will need permission from the local authority to keep larger events.
L. M.
Super nice place for a walk! Very large commons that seems to be a popular place for a picnic or just hanging out in general. I joined a group of young men playing football on a beautiful Monday afternoon.
A.
Great place for jogging, it's nice and big and benefits from the Lido as well. Tennis courts and 2 playgrounds are great for the family. Not much parking though. Nice little onsite cafe as well.
L. d. W.
Such a big common with so many different sections, some secluded and others very open and great for sports! 5k park run every Saturday at 9am too, all are welcome and a great community vibe!
R. M.
Will maintaind Park / common tennis courts, pond, large open spaces an overgrown areas ideal for wildlife.
There's also an art deco open-air lido which was one of the largest in the country. Water is unheated that favour refreshing on a hot day.
H. H.
Lovely common. Great place to walk your kids, play some frisbee, go for a run. There is a huge lido on the common too. I like the way this common is intersected by railway lines creating several unique and varied spaces. I keep going back.
I. L. (. G.
I love this green space and a good way to reach the Streatham if you want to walk or cycle from Brixton...... And when I say greenspace I mean GREENSPACE....... So don't overcrowd please 😁
M. H.
Great place for safe dog walks.
A. A.
It is not fancy. Nothing amazing but I like it. Even just going for a walk, looking at the small lake or sunbathing in tooting lido make you feel good and relax. People need more green places like this in Streatham, especially with the big high street.
Q. P.
Tooting Bec common is such a lovely park, with two different halves. It's perfect for a jog - the perimeter running for 3 miles - and there are tennis courts, a cafe, a recreation centre, as well as lots of nice spots for a picnic or simply to relax and read a book. Its much more diverse, relaxed and less pretentious than Clapham common. And thankfully, there are no annual dance music festivals.
B. T. a. T.
Large green common, not guarded from the road by fencing etc. Good for dog walking but not so good if you want to socialise your dog in my experience. Some dog walkers have been rude and walk 7 dogs at a time which I believe, can be unsafe and the average dog walker rushes past to avoid interaction. Has a small lake area with ducks
R. L.
Like very good times on lunch
D. C.
Beautiful huge greenspace. People seem to care about it, it is clean and in good repair. Lots of running options and I often see people out doing boot camp workouts as well. A bit muddy in the rainy weather but lots of paved paths to get around.
D. I.
Tooting Common as a whole is quite large, and while most of it is similar to a municipal park, with large expanses of mown grass, there are also bits that are wilder and more like Wimbledon Common. It is certainly good that such a large open space exists in the midst of a built-up area, but it is spoilt by being divided into chunks, where multiple railway lines cut through it. What also lets it down for me is that there are too many insufferable people running about doing their daily exercise. So, if you sit down on a bench to rest or eat a sandwich, you may have to contend with people constantly huffing and puffing past a few feet away.
R. M.
Lovely open space with a kids park, lovely cafe based jus around the corner from there (on the common). Only missed 1 star due to a cricket pitch next to park that isn't fenced off. Also a place to play tennis and pond
W. H. T.
Great open space. Used to play lots of sports here. They have a great run which happens every weekend. It's a shame that the local council cut down all the trees on the main path but it is still a lovely common that holds lots of joyful memories
K. B. L.
An excellent common for running, jogging and cycling. There's an athletic track nearby where you can sign up for a running/training session.
Popular with mothers with children and strollers with pets, especially as there's a cafe type 'chalet' and tennis courts towards the centre of the common.
J. S.
Safe with plenty of facilities swimming pool tennis courts cricket pitches football pitches playgrounds ponds dog friendly
M. P. (.
Large open common area split into two, with an attached lido. Has a pond and a playground as well as tennis courts and football pitches. Great place for the family and great place to take your dogs as well
A. M.
Large park with open green spaces and two playgrounds. Small lake with ducks, geese and swans. Paths for walking and cycling. In Summer cricket, football etc played here. Also hard surface football pitch with floodlights. One o'clock club in playground. Easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Car park, toilet facilities, small restaurant serving hot drinks and snacks.
P. K.
Wonderful open space near beating heart of "one of the top ten coolest places in the world". One of the largest openair manmade lidos in Europe if you like a refreshing swim. And great fun to chill out in and crack a beer or two on a sunny day.
T. S.
Nice little lido and park area just the water was way too cold for me 😅
M. F.
An absolutely wonderful green space equidistant between Tooting, Streatham and Balham. Fantastic for dogs, and a really good place to run around. Nice little cafe if you fancy a sit-down. The quality of the light at sunset and sunrise (I've seen both many, many times) is quite transporting. From October to April wear wellies. Another quirk of the wooded areas is the sporadic appearance of single men hanging around. Why?
S. C.
Best park for kids
B. M.
Beautiful place, such an interesting common. Around the lake feels like an oasis in desert of buildings. Litteraly hundreds of green parrots, massive fish and huge terrapins in the pond. Wonderful.
A. P.
Spacious (if you don't like people much), green (if that's what you're into), fairly flat (if you run) and surrounded by some lovely houses if you get house-broody like me. Plenty of hidden bushes and undergrowth too. No real reason to mention that... but just so you know...
M. R.
We have been using Tooting Because for over 20 years and it has been a wonderful open green space in the heart of London. It is very clean with playgrounds, tennis courts, a little tea shop and of course the Lido. It is very safe and friendly environment. In the winter after heavy rains the Common does get a bit mucky so be prepared to clean off Rover when you get home.
R. B.
A fantastic common space in South London. Don't miss the Lido towards the South, the playground for kids in the north and the tennis courts and care in the middle. It's a good running circuit of about 4.5km in circumference. There's also a lovely pond in the centre for quiet reflection (although gets busy at the weekend).

Great place for a good walk, run, ride. Flat paths for push chairs and wheel chairs. Great for dog walking
Q. H.
Great park for the children with ice cream van on the summer months. Tennis courts and vast common space.
P. N.
Lovely place on a Sunday afternoon to let the kids play and chat with friends at the cafe.
R. B.
Very big play space, plenty to keep the kids entertained, and a nice walk around the lake they have there, and tennis courts, plus a cafe in the park, definitely a nice place to go.
s. a.
Place to chill with friends or kids even a little alone quite time with a good book. Love the green. You can meditate or exercise its lovely
O. H.
A great open space to take pets and children, very green. Has a duck pond and a great shop with hot drinks, ice cream ans baked goods. Unfortunately an avenue of trees have recently been cut down by the council to save money, giving Chestnut Avenue in the common a very bleak look.
L. V.
London can be crowded, busy, and urban, but if you're looking for a bit of space to yourself at least it is full of large parks and commons. In Southwest London there are a few to choose from, including the lesser-known but very good Tooting Common. Close to tube stations on the Northern Line as well as several bus routes, it's easy to get to, and provides a large expanse of green space, with fields, trees, ponds, tennis courts, and wilder areas.
A. P.
Lovely park with 2 playgrounds, tennis courts and lots of space for other activities like jogging, foot ball or kite flying. Has woods, open spaces and a big pond with swans and ducks.
P. H.
Very muddy and busy in late January, still with interesting gnarled trees lit by winter afternoon sun. It's probably lovely in spring/summer.
N.
Family friendly and big
P. &. B.
Lovely park good for jogging and dog walking. Nice play area for children. Car parking available for free. Lots of seating around the park. Lovely in the summer.
J. C.
Very big park and good for a big city I guess but you're never far away from a busy road and can always hear traffic so can't really 'escape to the countryside' there. Also very busy on weekends.
V. P.
This is such a wonderful park to have on my doorstep. It is so lovely and has so many different areas too. The playground is amazing, and the pathways are always clean and tidy.
M.
It's usually a lovely place to sit in the sun and watch happy dogs frollicking but today there was too many hoverflies and it started raining as soon as we sat down. There was also loads of really annoying children on their bikes.
T. A.
Lots of nooks and crannies. A nice place to walk in.
P. D.
If you live in Tooting and like parks this one is beautiful and quite big! It has a pond with wildlife which is great, and it's nice to just go there and relax, besides the Tooting Bec Lido is there.
L. G.
Big open space. Acres of grass, woodland, small pond. Sport facility (mainly tenis), coffe shop, free car park. Tooting Lido (open air, fresh water swimming pool) is just minutes away.
F. I.
In one word: thrilling. There's something for everyone at tooting bec common. The trick however, is coming on the right day, otherwise you might end up stuck in huge queues. Prices are fair and the rides are extremely exciting. Definitely would recommend for individuals who enjoy an adrenaline rush (lol!!!). Look out for special days where events occur or new rides open as they are likely to be busier than others. Would also recommend taking spare clothes if you're looking to do the water rides and don't want to wait around for your clothes to dry. There are food places available all round the common, however they are limited. Travel from the station is relatively easy with a shuttle service available that costs a couple of quid. Having said that they should have put the common right next to the station!
L. M.
It's a great common, beautiful with lots of different areas, great for picnics with friends and family or taking your dog for a great walk. Lots of open spaces to run
R. S.
Nature at it best with beautiful park with pond full of birds. Playing facilities for children of different Age groups. Lively and lovely place to relax and enjoy the day.
K. C.
Good open space but dogs need to be kept on a leash when kids are around!!!
D. P.
Nice on a summer day,£7.5 pet adult
A. S.
Nice park with loads of greens around, playground for kids and tennis court, even toilets are avaliable, which is quite rare in London, love the place and the surroundings.
R. S.
It was very busy and lots of people. I l love and greenery and open space.
D. S.
Open space good for jogging along the cinders or relaxing on grass to top up your tan. Very popular with young families. There is football practice on weekends mornings. Mothers with Prams exercise. Cyclists frequently use the cycling paths on their daily commute into town.
The common has an athletic track on the Furzedown side and a Lido towards the Streatham end which is always popular during the summer.
A. B.
Beautiful Park. Does tend to get a little crowded, but probably due to it being such a lovely place to chill.
A. L.
The best thing that can be said is that it's a common in Tooting. It's better than no common in Tooting. It has tennis courts, a kids playground (young and older kids areas), a small cafe and a duck pond. It's fine.
M. C.
It's such a lovely park but people are not taking care of it. How sad is to see such many rubbish around. The park is nice for a picnic and the lake with ducks and turtles are a bless.
M. W.
Grew up running around on this common, has a couple of parks one in the centre and the triangle club which is more Balham side. Decent cafe. The football pitches aren't bad and have some of the better changing facilities you'll find in the area (football league changing rooms)
W. L.
Small wooded areas for kids to explore and open spaces for games. Two playgrounds, tennis courts, water. Lovely in the evenings.
j. m.
Good to see the park full again including the ducks
S. G.
It is heart of local community football and cricket teams. There is also 6 tennis courts in tall fencing. Each is for hire (rackets and tennis balls too if you do not bring your own.) Next to the pond with reach wild bird life and pigeons walking about are benches. The double seating around the built strong bank raised above waterline offer variety of sights and are all best place to relax and chat or simply admire nature on the island standing in the middle of the pond. There is enclosed sheltered paradise impression and intimacy with nature sense. The robust safety when walking around the pond in the very civilised quality multifunctional, changing style of panorama, 2 outward from bank of pond platforms, quiet closed as well as open plane areas give excellent terrain for dog walking, picnic, group sports, exercise, running around and people with babies as well as small children for whom there is built a big play area with modern play features. One can spot tents of fisherman there too. There is a small stylish cafe with about 3 small 4 seater tables and plus seating on rather large area to side and extra seating 3 x 4 seater fixed bench/table under roof on 3rd. side of cafe. There is toilet and always water for dogs. The cafe is situated next to hard wide clean pathway surrounded by good looking wide spread thick trees and a bush. It is an excellent cafe with ice cream, tea, coffee and hot meals. On one end of Tooting Bec Common there is 2nd. biggest in Europe open swimming pool and paddling pool with life guards, well equipped cafe, medium size fountain, large area on grass for blanket picnics, about 5 x 4 seater wooden benches on area around fountain, proper big toilet with changing space and one about 5 showers in total open room. There are on both sides of the swimming pool lines of old style wooden changing rooms - each with a short end bench. Door of changing rooms are each painted different colour adding art value and beauty to the excellent managed space and design on entire premises. The swimming pool is well sheltered from all sides by rather tall and thick wall of trees. On one side there is nearby train tracks. It is still quiet and one does not notice any noise or disturbance resting comfortably around sides on extra 6 benches along the length. Water can be painfully cold in early months of opening. It is good for a longer deep as weather warms up. On weekends there is often long queue to the pool. The Leisure Pool has got all year round membership functions for cold swimming club. Everyone is welcome to join the club and better their immunity with brave short deeps in the big swimming pool. My domain is cold shower every day. I recommend the club for fun, joy of friends and above all grand health effect the cold swimming is known for. Like pool like park, I recommend it for everyone and every group planning activity on open plane. There is next to main road wide pathway quite digested by runners and fresh air walking parties. Next to the path there is remains of horse enclosure, yet I did not ever hear that it would be still used by live horses. The park is quite well organised with modern features, hard surface clear ground and road long pathways and of course well trimmed, well organised wild life around the pond and it's Island. Any time when it is day light on each day of week it is an excellent destinations for locals and their guests as well as tourists. Funfair stops here often, once a year there is Bon fire night and from time to time there might be a random type event organised. It is a handsome, civilised, good quality park. Enjoy. Thank you.
D. H.
A lovely open space with two different play areas. Plus a fantastic big friendly cafe.
J. H.
Great park and ponds of the kids..
S. P.
Beautiful morning.
C. T.
I love this common. The boys love it too. Lots of people out during the day. Quieter in the evenings. Lots of friendly dogs too.
J. D.
This is a large and mostly flat expanse of grasslands located in part of South London. There's a playground for children and other sports take place here too.
There is a more or less constant procession of people moving at varying paces along the cinder path on the Tooting Bec road side i.e. joggers. The place is absolutely stuffed full of them.
If you can tolerate the Park Run activity and are looking for some air with lower than normal carbon monoxide levels this could be the place for you!
There's a really old-style park cafe located near the triangle..
R. S.
One of the best commons in south london
M. R.
A typical south London park; Londoners will no doubt understand what I mean... As parks go, it's not the most "pretty" - it's rugged - more Charles Bronson than Charles Hawtry (ask your [grand] parents), but for all its rough and ready demeanour, it also has a charm that will draw you in - dog walkers, walkers, joggers....
t. b.
The common needs work done on it to clean up areas where rain water has flooded it mainly at the Fernlea Road entrance. Also the walk along and under the railway bridge is grim that definetly need to be brightened up . The children play area is in need of work also l feel . Tree' s , shrubs need tidying up . Once you get across Bedford road to the second part of the common there is a big difference the upkeep of this area is much better .
Which begs a question , why is this.
Y. B.
One of the best parc in the area, big enough to carry on discovering areas still after many years ... couple decent playgrounds for kid, good rugby and football pitches and home of the infamous Lido!
D. Ł.
It was really great my kids had a lot of fun.
M. H.
Very peaceful kids can run around and have fun with a football or skipping rope lots of places in the wooded bit for them to play hide and seek or pretend to be explorers
C. T.

A.
It's a good common although the gravel pitch isn't great for football
J. W.
Tooting is 'our' green space, it didn't needy to try very hard to get 5 stars from me. It is clean and a good size not to big to get lost , big enough to not get bored, loads of people use it to do all kinds of group exercise, including Parkrun.
R. M.
Very clean , good for families , individuals, sports and groups , very big different areas , lots of sports lots of places to have a seat the park has a cafe , lido ,pound , plenty of football pitches , tennis courts and more
M. Z.
My kids love it
M. F.
Tooting Common is my local park, divided in separate areas by Tooting Bec Road, Balham Hill home of Tooting Lido, one of a few remaining outdoor pools built in the 30's. A well run Tea House with outdoor seating under trees, tennis courts newly refurbished, close to the children play park, gives something to do for everyone. The main avenue of over 100 year old oak trees shades the main path to the pond and Tea house.
I. “. D. H.

D. C.
Really nice and sunny with plenty of space for sports and activities.
Good for everyone
j. b.
Comprising distinct segments divided by road and rail links including meadows, a lake, woodlands, sporting facilities, cafe and large lido. Somewhat dispirited and lacklustre with some areas evincing more than a tinge of neglect. In need of some redevelopment and maintenance.
S. J.
Been using this common for years, ie: Training, leisure, etc and for the last 5 years it's been the cleanest it's ever been.
During the 70s and 80s, that just wasn't the case but the laws were allot different then.
I recommend.
A. F.
Lovely park, lots of nice open spaces and walking paths.
Successful area for a bat walk.
s. O. S. L.
A valuable community asset, outdoor space for all..
J. L.
Beautiful open space between Tooting Bec Station in the West, Streatham Station to the East, Streatham Common Station to the South and Balham Station to the North.
As well as being a place to walk, cycle or ride horses, it has an atheletics track, one of Europe's biggest open air pools (Tooting Bec Lido), a pond and many football pitches for Sunday league.
C. S.
