Reviews of Wylam Car Park Tyne Riverside Country Park

Ideal for riverside walks and convenient for explorations on foot to delightful villages in the proximity: Wylam itself, Clara Vale, Ryton, Heddon, Ovingham, Ovington and Horsley, all of which are served by the network of footpaths. The riversides are distinguished by a number of denes which are worth visiting for their own sakes; I am thinkng of Holburn Dene, How Dene, Whittle Dene and Walbottle Dene, all within reach of Wylam car park on foot.

Fantastic spot for a stroll with or without dogs
Very popular for good reason.

Free Parking next to the walk to Newburn, passed Stephenson cottage, only thing not to like is limited size at busy time.
J. B.
Small but convenient car park next to the Riverside path/cycle path. Good recycling facilities on site as well as an electric car charging point. Short walk to Wylam Fields play area.
D. B.
Good to find free parking to be able to explore the area and also close to the railway station for transport into Newcastle.

Great spot for a paddle but always remember to respect the water

A hidden gem. If you approach over the river from the south, watch for the entrance across a green on the right as the sign is difficult to see. It is the best place to park for walking along the railway paths and exploring the village.

Absolutely love walking along the river from this carpark in either direction.

Nice location and great that it's free, does get full on busy days though (I ended up parking on the street around the corner this weekend)

A nice car park. There are no white lines to distinguish bays and my car quite liked the free range feel. Could this be incorporated into the marketing plan to attract other cars? My car had had a bad week, and I think it perked up a bit after sitting there for a while. Definitely worth a visit if your car is old or a bit cranky, or if it needs to take its mind of an MOT.

It's free but gets rather crowded on nice days, Start of a good walk to George Stephenson birth cottage, tea and coffee and the Tyne River Bank.

Great place to explore and visit if your not in this area wonderful walking also miles of cycling available not on busy roads very scenic along both banks east and west lovely pubs all along the Tyne valley Wylam is the perfect spot for your picnic try to get along to the old railway bridge now a foot bridge view is very picturesque

A great Free great park to start a walk from have used it many times and always been able to get a space. It is a tarmac surface just no defined bays

Lovely walks on both sides of the river from here. The old railway line runs past Stephensons cottage one way and across the "Points bridge " the other. Watch out for selfish cyclists though who think they have the right of way!

1st visit, lovely area and walks, but some issues with badly controlled dogs. My dog was attacked by a Border Collie. My dog did not invite the contact, the other dog ran at her and kept going even when she was down. My dog is 10, will never initiate contact with dogs she knows are unstable but the Collie went for her anyway. Shes OK, Im not. Sorry I love your park but cant risk comingback.
