I like Beckets Park. It's vast expanse of greenery in the middle of Northampton that is like an oasis of calm and tranquility. There are tennis courts available, but you have to book these on line. With all the trees and greenery, there are surprisingly few benches to sit on - quiet disappointing given the size of the park. The squirrels are surprising friendly and forward. One posed for a picture! The River Nene skirts the edge of the park, and ducks and swans can also be seen. If there was more provision for seating, this park would get a 5 star rating.

Great green open space in the middle of chaotic Northampton. Great to walk the dogs and enjoy views of the canal and extensive intricate bridges. The children's play area is enclosed and has an array of play apparatus to keep the young ones amused for an eternity. Sadly no public toilets. Seating is sparce there a few benches dotted around but the open green areas are vast so make sure you bring your picnic rugs and additional food for the squirrels as they'll be eating out of hand.

Nice park, with a canal and play area. Very friendly and brave squirrels here, they will even take food from you hand if you stay still long enough! Decent area for dog's to run about although there is 2 busy roads right next to it. Morrisons and b&m are about a 3 min walk from here which is a good place to grab a picnic or some drinks on a good day.

A great park near a river which gives visitors a chance to enjoy canal boats passing through, a play area for young children is also at the bottom of the park. Saw a squirrel go to a man holding a nut, took the nut from his hand and scampered away to eat it. Great to see. There are works under way on the lock with safety barriers around the area but it is still a pleasant place to be. I do believe the council should do more for this area; with the river and good paths the surrounding environment could be better developed to attract spending in the area. A lot has already been done, with the university, marina and lots of housing but I feel we should be doing more to enhance the area to make it the place to go to rather than pass through.

Beketts park and the soreounding area used to be unimaginative and ignored about 10 years ago. Avon was and still remains a sore as a commercial buiding within the Park confines. Since putting up the Marina and new UoN Campus buildings the park is now probably the best in the heart of Northampton. Walk along the canal up the curved walk bridge to access the Campus and walk to the Engine Shed SU building on the other side of which is a bridalway connecting to the forest area sorrounding the Delapre resourvior. Walking on the canalside embankment leads to interesting places. Much to explore.

Dog friendly park with lots of room to walk. Many info boards that talk about the history of the park too. It gets very dark after sunset, so I would advise caution when traveling through here if you had to.

We love walking here. Lots of different things to see and different routes to take. A nice playground for this kids and also two cafes to choose from as you get close to the skate park. You could also take the walkway bridge over the river to the uni grounds for a change of scenery around the university campus.

Park is neat and well maintained. There is a tennis court which can be pre booked to use. An artificial canal is built for boats and you can feed the swans and ducks. There is no restroom in the park which is a shortcoming.

Lovely park for old and young. Could do with a little more seating areas for elderly and those with mobility issues. . Children's playground a little tired and affected by grafitti. But still a good range of things to do such as walks by the river, watching the ducks, boats along the river and large open grass spaces with well manicured trees and planted flowers.

Its a lovely open space, does have parking, but alas not free 😕. A small play park with a few bits and pieces with a variety of ages in mind. The canal to walk along, water birds to enjoy. Tennis courts, water sports, pay for a bike to enjoy the scenery, skating park and im not sure if its still there the barge cafe! Lovely for having a picnic or sunbathing (on a good day) 🙂🌞 . Close to the town if you wish to browse elsewhere.

I enjoyed visiting the Beckets Park in Northampton. I parked at Morrisons which was close by. I have also parked near to the skate park and Arc cafe and walked from that direction. It appears there is a carpark near to the university that has parking meters available, I have not parked here.

Clean, well maintained and importantly as this is a busy thoroughfare at night, well lit. The patina finish on the bridge over the river and canal is a refreshing nod toward real engineering, avoiding the stainless steel and glass nonsense usually deployed in such environments by lazy architects who'll never use what they design.

As I basically live across the road from Beckets Park it is a place I visit quite often and it is fairly local to the town centre. Whether it's with my grandson in the play park or feeding the wildlife on the water or watching the squirrels at play or simply walking by the canal and watching the boats go through the lock there, plus its a good place for a picnic when the weather allows. The tennis courts can be quite busy at times and a cafe which opens at various times, also local bicycles can be picked up or returned here. Now there is the new bridge linking from Victoria Promenade lower entrance to the new university buildings. Certainly worth a visit at some stage.

Great park and a host of such amazing events as the annual beer festival. Bringing all of the best craft beers, ciders, spirits and food from around the area and country. The park is kept very clean and the plant life is well maintained. Walking distance from Morrison's and also has tennis courts.

Kids love this park. Just a shame some parents / dog owners think it acceptable to bring dogs into kids play area, let them poop in kids play area, and let put dogs in swings. It's disgusting as little ones go on then and dogs butt been over them. Then gets angry and swear at parents when they object. But they are all mouth, and soon shut up when you dont back down and make them leave the kids play area. Self fish people. You now have to pay on weekends for the car park, normal rates on Saturdays. £2 all day for Sunday's. We live too far to walk to it, so either pay it or use another park. Nice the council want kids out getting exercise but it's £2 for car park and £6 for an hour for tennis courts. REALLY? Yet you could put cameras up outside Carlsberg to catch illegal turns by cars and make £60 each one, but let's just punish kids instead. People who run the council are morons !
