Reviews of National Trust - Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate
C. B.
Wonderful day out. The house is a great visit and the usual National Trust facilities/amenities were good. The real selling point of Felbrigg Hall is the miles upon miles of walking routes. There are walking routes for everyone and the majority of the footpaths are even. I would recommend Felbrigg to visitors of all ages as there is something for everyone!
I'd also like to give some additional credit to the volunteers in the house, extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. Trust properties are nice and all but they would be nothing without their passionate and dedicated volunteers. Will definitely be visiting again.
T. C.
We started in the gardens, but it's a bit early in the year for lots of flowers, still enjoyable but would be nice to return in the summer. The house was really lovely and the history is amazing. It was a nice touch that there was a pianist there when we arrived, I'm not sure if this is always the case. Certainly worth a visit though!
G. M.
This is a lovely NT property. The house is fascinating, the guides are knowledgeable and everything is beautifully preserved and presented. There's the biggest and most extensively planted walled garden I've ever visited, the doves and chickens strutting about the place are great to see. The grounds are extensive, we did the walk around the church and ice house. This is National Trust at its best.
H.
This was gorgeous to walk around, and they give you a little guide book to tour you through the house with bits of its history. I really enjoyed the gardens, and there's a working dovecote! I could spend hours here.
M. M.
29.10.2022 £5 parking all day, £12 entry fee.
Volunteers are very knowledgeable. Photos allowed. Had funooking for the little ghost!
Can spend a whole day here, grounds have sheep and cattle roaming. Beautiful landscape. Walled garden has chickens.
R. H.
Lovely walled garden, well planted and looked after. A fantastic welcome from the lady at the garden entrance. The house was equally interesting. Nice restaurant. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. A very pleasurable visit.
P. M.
Lovely NT property, good shop and cafe, toilets accessible and clean. House very interesting, able to view both floors and a nice eye-spy activity for the kids. Walled garden is beautiful and well-maintained.
S. B.
Visited during our holiday to Overstrand. Only 2 miles out of Cromer. Parking free if you are a NT member. House was closed when we went which didn't spoil our visit as we tend to like NT gardens more. The walled garden was absolutely lovely. Such a huge range of different fruit, flowers and vegetables, so colourful. Large dovecote with resident white doves. There are also chickens and cockerels, some of whom were enjoying a peck about in the flower beds. Dogs not allowed in the walled garden. There are a few walks around the grounds, ranging from 1 1/2 miles to 4 1/2 miles. Had a lovely panini, coffee and cake for lunch. Plenty of seating inside and outside in the courtyard. Secondhand bookshop, NT gift shop and plants for sale.
r.
Well worth a visit. Staff very friendly and preliminary talk about the house was exceptionally good. Walled garden was the best we have seen. The children's sports area and den building was a super idea. Fantastic walks around the estate. Would love to visit again.
A. T.
Unfortunately at this time of year October. The house was closed but enjoyed walking around the walled garden. £8 entry for non NT members. Nice gift and coffee shops. Recommended for long walks around the estate.
J. S.
A beautiful hall with plenty of rooms to explore, Felbrigg Hall and gardens is definitely worth visiting.
When I visited the grounds opened at 10am, however the hall was not open until 12pm. There is a cafe, secondhand bookshop and a gift shop to browse if you are waiting for the hall to open.
The walled gardens are beautiful, with fruit and vegetables growing around the grounds as well as rooting hens and a dove cot. If you want to go on a longer walk, there is also plenty of land to explore, with walking and cycling trails signposted around the grounds.
Be aware that some rooms, mainly the bedrooms, are currently largely covered under dust sheets to protect the items. That being said, there is still plenty to see around the property.
A. H.
Fantastic day out! Loved the walled garden with many plants from around the world. Parking easy some lovely shady parking spaces. Even chargers for electric cars.
R. M.
An enjoyable 1st visit to Felbrigg Hall. Plenty of car parking, free to NT members & BB holders, £5 all day for everyone else. Exact change only in car park machines. Can pay online but no O2 signal at all at Felbrigg Hall! Other mobile networks may be better! Fortunately, you can pay at the booth by the entrance to the walled garden! Despite the drought, the walled garden still looked spectacular. A real credit to the staff. 4 walking routes around the estate: red, purple, blue & yellow. The aroma from the pines in the Great Wood on the day of our visit was gorgeous. Usual shop, café, restaurant and also a 2nd hand bookshop. Toilets were modern and clean and everything worked. Dog friendly (dogs on lead) as there is livestock roaming about. The Orangery is currently (September 2022) closed and looks as though it'll stay that way for quite a while as the roof is full of holes. Spent so much time in the walled garden and the different walking routes that we missed the last entrance to the Hall at 15:00 even though we got there at 15:05. The Hall is open between 12:00-16:00 and last entry is at 15:00. We were told that the staff check to see if there's anyone hurrying towards the Hall and they'll wait for them. If the staff don't see anyone running towards the Hall entrance looking as though they're being chased by a slightly peckish T.rex, they lock the doors at 15:00. Still, it gives me a good reason to go back to North Norfolk & Felbrigg Hall! A fab place to visit.
K. N.
Very nice place, Great start for a walk. Decent NT café. Woodland walks or longer. Walled garden very special. A whistle stop tour of house only this time, so unfair to comment.
A. S.
A really lovely day out, the house is beautiful and the surrounding grounds. The video overview is especially helpful to those who cannot make it upstairs. Had a nice coffee and scones in the café.
N. T.
Beautiful visit on a lovely sunny day.
Beautiful walks around the grounds and lake.
Great cafe and gift shop also excellent
c. c.
Nice house not very big, the gardens are beautiful. Large grounds, nice cafe and shop.worth a visit if you're in the area
T. B.
House is definitely worth a visit it still has all origional furniture and furnishings. The walled garden is lovely. There is also the surrounding park which I was unable to explore as ran out of time
A.
Great day out, walled garden is beautiful even in autumn. Cafe serving hot food, limited indoor space if weather is bad, but lots of outdoor seating.
J. C.
Wow, what a place from start to finish. It was incredible everywhere in and out. Its full of treasures from around the world. Fascinating history and beautiful gardens, another incredible national trust jewel.
H.
Beautiful house plenty to see and an interesting history. The walled garden is a must to see so many different plants and beautiful planted
A. i.
Sat nav took us in via a different entrance! Orangery was closed due to roof needing significant work.
Lots of space to roam and various routes to take. Even provide mobility scooters if needed.
H. B.
Beautiful place, really helpful staff/volunteers, all a fountain of knowledge. The actual house is beautiful and so interesting. Walled Gardens a particular favourite of mine, not a weed in sight, terrifically well kept.
H. S.
Do not miss the Cellars and Attics extra tour. Absolutely fascinating - a very big thank you to Monday's dynamic guiding duo.
The walled garden is delightful and the gardeners are happy to answer questions.
P. M.
The house is really nice and well maintained, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Don't miss the XVIII century Vinegar Bible in the library. But the walled garden... fabulous, spectacular, fantastic! A simply must see, one of the best ones I've seen. If you have a bit more time go on a walk around the estate, past the old church.
A.
Even at this time of drought, the walled garden was amazing. There is so much to see and do here: we never are able to do it all in one visit!
l. n.
Lovely day out for my birthday. Beautiful walks and the volunteers in the house really knew their stuff!
P. N.
Nice building and gardens. NT volunteer staff in the rooms are very knowledgeable and friendly. Food and drink available.
E. S.
Beautiful National Trust property, gardens and grounds are beautiful with plenty to explore. Our 2 children made dens in the woodland, spending hours exploring and playing. The cafe and shops are nice and well laid out with friendly staff, the soup was lovely as was the seasonal coffee.
We found the baby changing facility was very cold but clean enough.
We didn't manage to get into the hall this time but have on previous visits and it is a beautiful building with gorgeous interiors and a fascinating history.
T. S.
Amazing property. Well worth a visit. Magnificent walled garden. Not to be missed.
R. S.
Lovely place to visit and great walks around it too - to the Church within the grounds and the Lake too. Allow yourself a few hours and it’ll be worth it. Great cafe too - expect NT prices. Walled Garden is superb! You won’t be disappointed in the history in this place 🎉🎉👍🥳
e. s.
parking was a bit of a mare,, no one was telling you were to park so almost accidentally drove out the exit
lunch was the same options as any other national trust property,, the potato wedges were a nice surprise tho
the house is beautiful and the volunteers well informed and very friendly,, we especially enjoyed finding the golden in each room (hint: it’s not in the rose bedroom)
R. W.
Grade II* listed park from the 18th century probably by Humphry Repton, surrounding a Jacobean mansion with lovely gardens. Enjoy walking in the park after touring the house. Lots of things to do: cafe, bookshop, gift shop, plant sales, ice creams from a vintage French van even!
M. H.
A great NT property with good walks around the woods, lake and gardens. Limited viewing in house at present, but they did have a video covering the rooms you couldn't visit at this time. Nice cafe and 2nd hand bookshop.
C. R.
Although I've lived in Norfolk all my life I had never made a visit here until a few days ago.
My goodness what I have missed out on.......such a lovely place. The walks through the grounds are amazing unfortunately we did not get to the lake because of ongoing works.
The coffee shop had friendly and efficient staff with a good choice of food and drink. Possibly a little over priced in some areas in view if current economic concerns for many people. Coffee and scone however was well priced and very enjoyable. We were lucky as the weather was perfect a lovely autumnal sunny day.
Well worth a visit and I will be returning
k. m.
Found the Hall very interesting and amazed at the size of the estate. The National Trust volenteer's were very informative with regard to the rooms we saw and the history of such.
The weather on the day we visited in October was very pleasant, so we had a drink, sitting outside of the cafe. The shop had all the usual gifts as all National Trust sites do. Lots of plants for sale.
We then moved onto the walled garden. This was in fact our favorite part of the visit. The walled garden being very large and sectioned into various areas had lots to see, including an area to sit with chicken nearby (all fenced in, due to the awful outbreak of avian flu). A lovely old dove cot with plenty of doves.
We are not members of the Trust, due to not having time to make use of a years membership. This meant we had to pay parking fee as well as entrance fee.
It would be nice to be able to pay separately for the house or walled garden, or both. Having seen the house once is enough, but due to the changing seasons, more visits to the walled garden would be nice, but we wouldn't want to pay for another visit for the house, if back in this area again.
G. W.
Excellent day or lots of walking in marked trails, cafe with cake and a beautiful house and gardens.
S.
Had a lovely day here with my Grandchildren. Interesting house with lots of information about life in a bygone age. Huge grounds to explore including beautiful woodlands. The usual NT café and gift shop but we had taken a picnic and it was lovely to eat under the trees on a hot day. Plenty of accessible pathways so anyone can explore and enjoy the amazing views across the meadows. It's worth the short walk across the field to explore the Church.
B. D.
5 stars for the Walled Garden. 4 for the rest. The gardens are amazingly well designed and cared for. The lavender banks are a haven for a host of butterflies and other insects
A. C.
What a stunning place with walks of various lengths. The walled garden is one of the best l have ever seen with various fruit trees, herbs, flowers and much more. The house as always with the national trust is interesting. Plenty of parking even with a charging point. Will be back to explore more of the walks.
N. G. C.
Had a lovely day here (Sunday, so opens at 12), house is beautiful and very period, all original furniture and paintings, really nice, and friendly, polite, very knowledgeable staff who are happy to answer questions. Grounds and walled garden all beautifully kept, we ran out of time so didn't get to the church or lake, but a good excuse to go back. The outdoor eateries are both lovely and well priced, definitely will be back.
C. B.
Been to Felbrigg House a few times and impressed each time. Everything is kept to a high standard whether it be the shop, plants for sale, cafeteria and the Hall itself. A particular favourite is the walled garden. All seasons there is colour and the gardens are immaculately presented by both the garden staff and volunteers. Had a meal in the restaurant. I chose vegetable tagine which was excellent and a good portion. All vegetables raised on site. The Hall is very interesting with a lot of rooms open and lots to read. All staff are polite and happy to help. There are some lovely walks in the grounds. Toilet facilities good and clean. A very nice place to visit.
H. O.
Beautiful walled garden, a bit different to your typical NT garden. Lots to see in August. Nice walks around the ground though could have been slightly better signposted. Nice small shop. Needs gluten free options though.
J. S.
Beautiful . Walled Gardens amazing. Good cafe and shops including 2nd hand books. Good choice of plants for purchase. Plenty to see in house. Lovely long walks across estate park even just to St Margaret Church. Plenty of seating.
J. A.
Hello, I am a member of a local Bird Club and we have a monthly walk (apart from August) round Felbrigg Park and Gardens and last Wednesday was one of those walks. We had a lovely walk and saw a few birds. Apart from the path round the Lake, which is currently closed with diversions in place. There are many paths to explore. With 2 carparks (one of which is free parking) the other is free to NT Members. Can't comment on the Hall as I haven't been round the Hall.
s. b.
Great family day out. Especially enjoyed the walled garden.
A. L.
Absolutely beautiful gardens. Walled garden is especially impressive. Obviously lots of work goes into making it so fantastic. Look out for bees and chickens also birds and dragonflies.
It is an excellent day out.
Cafe has great choices. Allergy friendly too.
Oliver also made NT coffees and sold cakes and snacks from a van outside in the picnic area. Oliver was polite and helpful to visitors.
Clean toilets and disabled toilet available.
A. S.
Didn't go into house or walled garden but had a lovely walk around the grounds which are beautiful. There is a nice cafe, book shop and garden centre. As it's a National Trust property there is a £5 parking fee for non-members.
G. J.
Great place to spend the day.
The walled garden is beautiful.
The restaurant well stocked with great food.
The house was busy but a great deal of it was open.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Definitely worth a return visit.
Highly recommended
J. J.
Enjoyed our visit on a warm and sunny autumn day. Car park volunteer not particularly helpful and that's unusual for NT properties that we have visited. Loved the gardens, lots of work has been done recently and ongoing projects are on view, very interesting.
A. J.
Excellent National Trust Country Estate. Great walks, hall, walled garden and facilities.
Walks through fields, around the lake or through the woods - you choose.
Fantastic Walled garden (check opening times).
Loverly tea room with courtyard and plant sales. Gift shop and book shop.
Ample parking.
K. W.
Great place; there is a beautiful walled garden, the hall with a restaurant and walks around the estate. Would definitely recommend.
D. J.
Great place to walk with family of all ages . Pushchair and pram easily navigated walk way. Plenty of room to exercise children with relative safety climbing and exploring. Dog friendly and dog bins every few yards . Clean tidy facilities and cafe for a treat.
P. R.
Easy to find. Slightly challenging woodland walks - if you go off track, best to have the OS app (although the woods are not extensive enough to get seriously lost). The maps in the car park need some revision - there is no 'you are here' icon so making it difficult to orientate yourself. Walled garden is worth a visit as are the chickens in the Nuttery
d. S.
Lovely day spent here with so much to see with lovely walks around the grounds .
J. P.
Beautiful location and gardens, especially the walled garden and dovecote. Great walks, especially down to the lake, where you can see lots of birdlife. An excellent place to get some good fresh air and walk the dog. Please note in the walled garden dogs are not allowed.
K. K.
A lovely place for a dog walk, plenty of variety.
M. W.
The walled garden is amazing and inspiring. There are lots of places to walk and I didn't manage all the routes in one visit. The house was very interesting too, though not the reason for my visit.
L. B.
Great fun for little ones, sheep and cows a plenty, such a lovely estate to roam around in
J. C.
Lovely place . Bit too busy as it was free entry this week. Unfortunately had suffered water damage due to a recent deluge. However didn't detract from the interesting rooms and artifacts seen. Staff very helpful and gardens still stunning.
*. Z.
A wonderful estate with an interesting house and a spectacular walled garden.
R. S.
Didn't have chance to see the house itself but the walled garden was worth the visit..beautifully kept with lots of plants
M. A.
Lovely place and great walks in the forest. Didn't get to see the house so we need to come back. Good food and drink in the cafe and lots of activities in the grounds for the kids
N. M.
Amazing great day out with the family. Very enjoyable.
A. N.
Felbrigg Hall suffered interior damage from rain getting in on 8th September and, whilst the house was open, there was scaffolding and evidence of repair work going on. This actually gave an interesting insight into the challenges faced by the NT in looking after their properties. Helpful and knowledgeable guides. Light levels were low for conservation reasons, but it did feel a bit dark.
Large park with way marked walks. Purple and dark blue lines on the map are quite similar, so beware!! Really lovely wall garden.
p. a.
Go here everytime I'm in the area to have a look at the walled garden. I like to see the different seasons. Each time it doesn't disappoint. The house is certainly worth a visit. A lot of people seem to go for the grounds to walk in or walk their dogs. Parking for the disabled is as close as you can get to the house. A coffee can be brought in the picnic area. But their is also an area where you can buy jacket potatoes and other items. Also coffee and teas. The walled garden is being kept open and a few of the plants still look nice. The house is being decorated for Christmas. It looks as if it is open at the weekends. The grounds are still open to walk in.
A. W.
Great walk and lovely place a must see and do !!
S. G.
Felbrigg lambing season is the best ever. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our time here. We was lucky too see a lamb being born, was super sweet.🤗🤗 mother nature at her bestest.
J. B.
Hall and gardens, would be better viewed in the summer months, shame it is being renovated after a flood.
G. M.
Love this place, not been here for a while, never fails to deliver.
Gardens were fantastic, plenty of flowers out still and it's the end of October- who'd know!
Enjoy...
D. H.
Brilliant walled garden, interesting house. But the cafe is poor. Defrosted solid cake. Noisy dogs everywhere in the cafe. Why can't we have a dog free zone ?
W. H.
Pity house not open til 17th May. Impressive house with lovely walled garden, tulips in various colours, then take a long stroll to the lake or Victory V memorial, or both.
S.
Wonderful walks around the estate. Plenty of parking. We didn't go in the house. The cafe has a limited menu but what we had was tasty - panini and salad.
A. N.
Cafe was very busy as it was half term in Norfolk. House had some water damage to the front upstairs and down from September. Staff were very informative and friendly. Only down side to our visit was, the cost of the car park at a staggering £5 ! Which is why I put 4 *
M. W.
This is a great National Trust location in North Norfolk. The grounds are vast, with open fields, woodland and walled gardens to explore. I have not been into the house but am told it is worth a look. I like the walled gardens best - lots of inspiration for my own garden. The cafe is good although can get very busy. They often have events - my latest visit was on Easter Monday and they had an Easter Egg hunt and Lambing. Recommended.
G. T.
Lovely place we to visit. Friendly staff. Walled garden is beautiful, going back in the summer. When house is completely open.
J.
Lovely smallish historic house that feels homely and has bags of history. Very very worth visiting.
Amazing walled garden!!
P. B.
Great walk around this National Trust estate. Cafe open for takeaways. Toilets open and very clean. Always a pleasure to visit Felbrigg
D. W.
Felbrigg Hall is a nice place to visit. There are some great walks around the estate. Nice outdoor courtyard area for eating and drinking.
E.
A lovely national trust property with large surrounding gardens and land. Plenty of walks available both within the property gardens as well as around the surrounding land (free of charge).
There is a decent sized carpark, free for members. A free to use toilet, typical national trust shop, as well as a tearoom within the courtyard.
L. B.
What an fantastic day great place loads to do
R. S.
We went to Felbrigg estate with our dog so can't comment on the house inside but the estate is lovely for walks. We did the Marble Hill walk (4.6miles) a lovely mix of countryside and woodland and well signposted There are shorter signposted walks as well. Car parking was reasonable at £2. Would definitely go back without the dog to look round the hall itself
S. C.
Walled gardens looking good for the time of year. More EV chargers would be nice, especially if people who can't drive park their MGs diagonally at the charger!?
D. S.
Nice country house with lovely gardens
a. h.
Great setting, small but intensely decorated house. Highlights are the walled garden and outdoor cafe area.
D. M. N.
Surprisingly interesting place to visit on a wet autumn day. Hall and Grounds all worth a look around. And a good cafe too.
A.
The walled garden is a riot of colours and shapes; the old varieties of squashes come in abundant range of colours and shapes. It also made the heart soar to watch the parent hen scratching round, caring for her little fluffy chicks. The new paths, make getting around even easier for those with wheelchair. House volunteers were particularly helpful when providing advice and support for the wheelchair user in our party. Medium sized cafe, which offers simple snacks and drinks.
C. B.
Lovely properly. Manageable about of rooms to wander round without it getting too much. Walled gardens are truly stunning...as are the chickens wandering round them!! Lots of good walks. Great cafe and shop
L. D.
My little family and I had a lovely walk here yesterday. I had my 7 month old daughter in a harness, and my 18 month old boy was walking (until he got too tired). We weren't sure whether we would manage to get a push chair all the way round the 'blue trail', but tried anyway, and although there were a few difficult bits, we did it. It took us past the church and round the lake, a beautiful, scenic walk. We had a picnic on one of the benches towards the end and altogether a lovely time.
I. K.
Beautiful house and walled gardens. There's a also a shop, cafe and the option to take some lovely free apples from the walled garden back home with you for tea :) 🍎 🍏
C. P.
We had a lovely visit to Felbrigg Hall, well run by the National Trust. We especially enjoyed parts of the Felbrigg Estate including The Walled Garden with all sorts of fruit trees trained in neat espalier technique. We also visited the pastures and saw dozens of fat and healthy Easter Spring Lambs. The Felbrigg Hall was very interesting, and well decorated, with helpful attendents happy to share knowledge. Take a look at the photos enclosed! We ended our visit at the little coffee shop, enjoyed the hot chocolate!
D.
Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate is part of the National Trust Properties portfolio and it is a fantastic place to visit; you could easily spend the whole day here exploring the outstanding gardens and estate as well as the elegant country home – I particularly loved the Library as it has been decorated in a Gothic style but the rest of the house is also very interesting.
P. U.
A dovecote with actual doves ~ what a treat 🕊 lovely gardens with fountains ⛲(see pictures). Don't miss the painted walls with beutiful birds🐦 in the house and a very quirky shoe shaped bath 🛁(see pictures) another great National Trust taxerdermy collection here to see🦌 loved how they set out the dining room🎂. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Children really liked it here. Would recommend a visit.
C. K.
Closed two days a week. Lovely formal gardens, bookshop, and cafe. Fantastic facade but Hall a bit more dreary round the back. Needed more time and an open hall.
I. S.
Brilliant grounds on a sunny day. Everything felt really autumnal. Walled gardens were brilliant
S. K.
Excellent place to visit . We did the attic and cellar tour which was a fascinating insight into life there over the last several hundred years.
A. H.
Only the ground floor of the house open however that's due to Covid 19. Lovely grounds and walled garden also walks both short and long, lovely day out.
D. J.
Good day out, plenty of walks in the grounds, lovely gardens and the house is well kept and gorgeous grand rooms and there is lots to discover, would highly recommend.
P. H.
The grounds are big enough for kids to run around in and tire themselves out, so mum and dad can have a rest for a while
A. J.
Great day out. Had a wander around the property and walled garden which was well maintained with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Nice area for coffee and cake
M. l.
We visited only the grounds so cannot review the buildings themselves - entry was pricy at over £12 each so we gave that a miss.
Car park was £3 all day, which is cash only at machines or cars payment as a kiosk.
Coffee van next to the café served drinks, snacks and cream teas with plenty of seating in the adjacent courtyard.
Toilets were clean and well maintained.
The grounds themselves are beautiful, there are many lovely walks to take in either by the lake, through the forests or across the fields grazed by animals.
D. T.
Spent around 3hrs. Great scone and lovely walk around the grounds. Girls loved completing egg hunt
K. M.
Well maintained NT property-celebrating 50years of NT preservation here. Staff were fantastic friendly and helpful throughout. Plenty of things to do and admire the walled garden, not forgetting the hall it’s self! the doves, the hens and if you get chance ride your bike round the grounds it’s approximately 5miles depending on route.
C. W.
Fabulous house and gardens, lots of space, fresh air and parking. The facilities are great and the staff are all helpful and polite. Great place to visit in any weather!
S. G.
Beautiful place for walks with or without children. The Easter egg hunt was creative but not complicated, so our 9 and 6 yr olds were able to complete it with only occasional help. Staff were friendly and helpful, whilst the food was tasty, albeit a little expensive. Good few hours spent, but could imagine spending longer.

An enjoyable experience, but if we didn't pay by direct debit we would find admittance expensive to pay on the day. That said car parking is included. Staff and volunteers really helpful, except one woman in the Chinese wallpapered bedroom who rather belittled a lady in a wheelchair, telling her she should not have been allowed to bring the wheelchair upstairs and should have been told at the door. We were embarrassed to overhear all this and angry for the couple. If volunteers must have a word please do so discreetly and away from everyone else. We respect you and your role, please do as you would be done to. Other than this the house and grounds were awesome _ thank you for all your hard work and efforts
D. P.
An absolutely fantastic house, with beautiful rooms and helpful guides. Modern art installations provide a new and exciting twist, without negatively impacting the historic rooms. The gardens are stunning and wonderfully kept, with helpful information boards. The café is a tad small, but the range of refreshments on offer is up to the National Trust's normal high standards. The only drawback with my visit was a problematic step on the wheelchair route which was unavoidable and led to a minor injury as I drove my wheelchair over it. The staff, however, were incredibly concerned and willing to help, the incident was immediately reported and my recommendation for a way to fix the issue was taken immediately to the head house steward. This is why I have rated 4 stars still, despite the incident.
D. C.
Great for walks around the lake and the walled garden. Plenty of parking and the usual National Trust selection of food and drink. We haven't been inside the house yet.
A. B.
We stayed at the the mustard pot cottage in the grounds of the estate. from there we enjoyed some lovely walks around the grounds as well as visiting the house and gardens. A really interesting place to visit.
e. c.
Lovely waked garden, the flower displays were amazing, special mention to all the volunteers who are all dedicated and helpful. There is miles of stunning walks around the estate.
C.
Been a few times now, Great house lovely gardens and a great café.
L. A.
Love Felbrigg especially the walled garden. The 4.5 mile walk is wonderful with lots to see and the cafe is a great place to have a bite to eat and a drink.
S. W.
Loads off walking. Walled garden is amazing. House is well worth a visit. Really good family day out ..
G. K.
Beautiful surroundings and a fantastic visitor experience. The staff and volunteers were extremely kind and friendly. A special place not to be missed.
J. G.
Very interesting NT site and well worth a visit if you are in the area, Staff and volunteers are friendly and very knowledgeable, the cafe coped well on a very busy day with the usual NT range of beverages, cakes and snacks, huge car park coped well with the hundreds visiting, many interesting walks around the estate.
D. A.
Lovely place to walk around, my children loved walking around the walled garden, however little disappointing that we couldn't go into the house as we got there at 3:01 due to a nappy emergency and was told the doors are already locked
A. M.
Amazing estate. House was closed today but the estate is so amazingly diverse and interesting it didn't matter. Well managed estate to my untrained eye. The church was also closed but will certainly be coming back.
M. H.
The house is beautiful - we also enjoyed a walk in the walled garden.
And I never get tired of a National Trust Cream Tea!
J. P.
Plenty of places to sit at the café even though it was busy. Helpful staff by the walled garden when we arrived and lovely extensive grounds to walk around.
P. L.
It a very nice place.house is interesting.nice walks.and the walled garden which my husband likes to visit.was lovely.
D. R.
Lots to see and do during Christmas illuminated walled gardens open days. Cafe and facilities are excellent and reasonably price. Nice National Trust gift shop too. Lovely well kept estate.
A. M.
Check NT website for admission prices. Walking opportunities in parkland. Benches and picnic spots. Children's games. Impressive walled garden.
J. S.
Tge Gardens arw beaugiful lovely seeing baby chickens roaming free along side sheep. Very interesting facts given by staff.
J. B.
Always worth a visit. The kitchen garden is beautifully kept with such a variety of plants. You will love it.
M. T.
Walled gardens were very impressive when we visited and the staff inside the house were very knowledgable about different rooms/pieces
n. b.
Lovely place to visit but if you taking a dog for a walk they need alot more than 3 poo bins
C. K.
A very picturesque and well maintained estate, with walks and a lake with plenty of wildlife. Not the most interesting of houses; it didn’t take me very long to get around.
R. W.
Very impressive walled garden (dogs not allowed 😢) and interesting building with plenty of rooms to look at.
J. F.
A rather typical National Trust House, but the walled garden is off the scale - we would have been quite happy just seeing that
A. S.
The work that's go into the upkeep of the grounds and house is a credit to the team at Felbrigg Hall and Gardens. This was our second visit and won't be our last.
J.
Just beautiful..Lovely house and grounds, and lovely place to eat and chill after our walk round...
M. L.
Had a wonderful time. The walk from Cromer is beautiful. The grounds of the estate are pristine and had sheep agisting in fields that you could walk through. The manor was simply stunning and houses some world class art and historic items. I would definitely recommend going.
J. D.
Great staff. House is very interesting without being nationally significant. Catering only average I'm afraid.
M. H.
Great place to visit, nice cafe and lots of interesting walks.
T. K.
Lovely walk around the grounds, off the beaten track on a nice warm day - life don't get better!
K.
Stayed in one of the cottages. Very nice with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. House is fascinating with several additions and alterations. Clearly marked walks in the grounds, with one passing the church. Lovely courtyard cafe and shop with helpful staff.
D. W.
Excellent National Trust Property which is a great one as there is a vast estate to walk around with a church to see at the heart of it. The garden themselves have an exotic feel and have an array of spectacular colour on show and there are some easy going walks to enjoy as well. The hall is brilliant with some informative displays about each of the rooms and a quirky taxidermy room on the exit of the house. Overall though a great place to visit and one to enjoy for a few hours.
j. e. t.
Love Felbrig. I've been a number of times and always enjoyable. Even in Autumn the gardens are lovely
A. C.
Lovely hall with beautiful gardens and grounds. Great for a day out
S. F.
Lovely park area to walk and courtyard is a nice place to stop for a coffee and snack.
P. B.
Nice house and gardens. The Enchanted Felbrigg event is really good for children: they've created an interesting themed trail, with some nice atmospheric lighting in the garden and woodland.
R.
Went on a day in October when the house was closed. The walled garden was fabulous
f. H.
We 2 adults 2 fox terriers can not rate this experience highly / enough

Very busy and the gardens had a wide selection of interesting plants and flowers.
E. S.
Nice stately house with a nice walk around the Forrest. Would be great to do on a bike as well.
D. P.
An amazing place that you will fall in love with. The walled garden is amazing too.
P. M.
Nice place to visit with plenty of walking and a nice café. Free day out as members.
R. L.
Plenty to see and do here. If you like walks there are a selection in a booklet given to you upon admission ranging from 1 to 4 and a half miles, and dogs are welcome (although not in the house). The walled gardens contain an orchard, vegetable and herb gardens as well as a large variety of flowers and plants. The house is manned by knowledgeable staff who have a passion about the history of the house. On site there is also a gift shop and a cafe.
A. M.
Absolute massive grounds and lots to see. Thoroughly enjoyed visting. (For some reason I only have photos of the chickens there!?)
J. R.
Interesting house, 7 y/o thoroughly enjoyed and the hidden gardens are idyllic.
l. p.
Great walks and lovely courtyard with a good second hand book shop
J. D.
Spent a lovely afternoon walking around the beautiful walled garden and the hall full of historical paintings, furniture and utensils etc. Plenty of parking and the cost of entry to both gardens and hall are, in my opinion, very reasonable. I found a few nice souvenirs for myself and some family members in the gift shop too.
Would recommend this as a pleasant day out.
G. C.
We've been visiting Felbrigg for many, many years. Our visit usually entails coffee and fruit scones before circumnavigating the estate. It's virtually just down the road from our home. Aren't we fortunate.
D. H.
Very eclectic mix of Building styles, and internal decoration.
Very interesting gardens.
R. B.
A lovely day for a lovely walk around the well kept Gardens and along the woodland trails at Felbrigg Hall
Well worth a visit something for All ages lots to see
P. M.
Superb walled garden. Loads of interesting walks. Very interesting house.
P. B.
Lovely scone and coffee, friendly staff and volunteers, the most beautiful walled garden, parkland with huge mature trees, one of the very best NT.
A. W.
Beautiful grounds and gardens. Lots to see and lots of interesting things to do.
B. B.
Two visits in a couple of days, each visit booked time entry in advance, a painless entry system, make simple by some great volunteers who were keen to ensure you could enjoy the visit. Maps can be downloaded before you arrive, but there was a leaflet that was available detailing the various walks etc available
In the old stable yard is a shop, second hand book outlet, ice cream stand and the cafe. Covid rules apply, so some of the seating is restricted as is the menu. What is available is very tasty, especially the cinnamon buns.
The garden shop is well stocked with plants, and is an easy place to spend money.
The grounds are spectacular, the walled garden in particular is worth a visit. The one way system still ensures that you can see everything is one of the largest walled gardens that we have seen.
On our second visit, we took one of the woodland walks, there are a number ranging from 1.2miles up to around 4 miles. These are special you can walk in the woods, and enjoy the silence.
T. D.
Good walks and super walled garden as well as the main house make this an ideal destination.
S. P.
Fabulous grounds to explore with several walks and a cycle route - the house is stunning and very interesting - good cafe and facilities all well looked after and a great day out for the family 👍🏻
M. S.
Lovely house with a fascinating history, beautiful gardens and walks.
P. B.
Great place to go for a walk. Have a look around, and have a cream tea at the end.
J. M.
Beautiful gardens and woodland walks, excellent cafe with good choice of food, interesting small shops and stalls. The actual house is fascinating and beautifully maintained, the enclosed garden is lovely and restful, sometimes there are plants for sale as well. Worth a visit all year round.
J. R.
Lovely place to walk and eat tea and cake.
R. S.
My local National Trust place. Often go there walking or birding. Great place, house is also impressive
S. S. M.
Very
Interesting enjoyed house and gardens. Bacon baps lovely.
A. R.
Lovely grounds with lots of buildings to explore. There is a great walled garden and small greenhouse which seasonally sells some produce . House small but interesting. Good shop and restaurant. Parking good. Estate not too large good for half day visit. You can go for longer walks in the wider grounds and surrounding woods and fields.
M. T.
Lovely day at Felbrigg wall garden was beautiful, lovely walks as well
M. W.
Full of history, good food in restaurant. Lovely walks around the huge estate.
T.
Lovely big old hall with lots of history, lots volunteers with information, also good cafe

Lovely place, amazing house & gardens & fab tea room
K. D.
Wonderful house, gardens, wooded walks and café.
S. L.
Garden stunning, meadow is wild, restaurant open for takeout and toilets available, what else do you need!!
K. j.
The house is ok but you must visit the walled garden. The best I have seen.l
T. N.
Nice grounds and cosy house. Plant shop, cafe, and second hand bookshop also available.
R. W.
Nice place but too many woke NT Badges around the staff's necks.
Appalling
J. E.
Worth going to just for the walled garden and newly acquired orchard. Lovely on a summers day.
J. A.
The house and gardens are well worth the visit.
B. J.
Just went for a stroll through the woods all good nice gentle walk easy walking
M. W.
Lovely grounds to walk around, the house was closed due to covid restrictions but its still well worth a visit. Its cheap to get in and the parking is well organised. Well organised paths guide you through woods fields and the beautiful lake that surrounds the grounds. The stunning walled garden is a must see, it will take more than one visit to really appreciate this gorgeous venue. Food is a little expensive as is to be expected at these places but why not take a small picnic and make the most of the day out. Great place for anyone of any age.
J. S.
Beautiful place, nice cafe (slow queue!) and amazing staff (thanks Alistair) who looked after my mum and dad with a joke and a smile.
S. C.
Lovely walk through decorated gardens today.
C. H.
So inclusive to visitors and very special visitor experience. Have been visiting for several decades, but the atmosphere and quality is much improved
M. B.
Great area for walking, cafe and toilets available.
W. P.
Felbrigg Hall is great, has a lovely walled garden to walk around.
A. W.
Great house and grounds. Rang of countryside walks.
P. W.
Such an amazing place really worth a visit a must go for all the family👨👨👧👧🙏
J. W. P.
Felbrigg house and grounds with extensive area for picnics walking etc. Pay at machine or free car park for members.
D. B.
Interesting place full of history. Knowledgeable staff. Nice café.
G. M.
Beautiful hall and gardens well worth the trip out
T. G.
We visited in the autumn. The walled garden was delightful. Colourful and full. Best we've seen in ages. Walked to church and around the lake with good signage. Will visit again when we would not have to queue to visit the house.
P. S.
Small National Trust house, with an interesting Walled Garden. The property is set in extensive woodland, which we walked through on our adventurous walk from Sheringham and back - recommended!
In a nutshell, an enjoyable way to spend a few hours, inside and out.
C. S.
Followed the purple walk, all clearly marked out so no getting lost. My dog however did lie in a very muddy puddle but I was able to use the hose in the courtyard where I also enjoyed one of the best scones and a cup of tea. Wonderful afternoon.
L.
Great afternoon, house is beautifully decorated for Christmas. The children’s Peter Rabbit trail is full of fun facts only £2 which includes a branded pencil and NT wooden badge! Every member of staff was very helpful, children’s luxury hot chocolate was delicious a great afternoon.
C. H.
😊An absolutely beautiful place, with many gorgeous well kept gardens. So many fabulous plants and a beautiful selection of herbs and shrubs and flowers. Huge fantastic dovecote in the gardens, lots of happy roaming chickens too. There's the very interesting Hall and shop and café. Plus lovely grounds with a lovely lake walk and tranquil church to explore too. Highly recommend😊
P. T. (.
Nice walk good gardens and nice surroundings
S. G.
The walled garden is always a pleasure to visit
S. S.
Fantastic place just not during COVID
We love walking around the estate with our dog, but unfortunately the National Trust have taken things too far and you have to book which is £8 per person, so unless you are a member I would give this a miss until they lift the restrictions. Holkham Hall only charges £4 to park, lovely cafe and a great dog walk.
L. B.
Had a lovely walk round the parkland. Stopped at cafe for refreshments. Wanted to go to the shop but dogs weren't allowed in that area, very disappointed always like to buy something from NT shop.
M. N.
Great place to visit walled gardens and fantastic great job everyone
T. O.
Really lovely place to visit. The estate has several options for walking, we chose the "Blue Route" which took us to the estate Church and round the lake The house was just as it would have looked years ago and contained many original features. The walled garden was probably the best that I have ever seen, very well kept with so many plants from every corner of the world. Well worth a visit.
K. M.
Most enjoyable day out
S. C.
Hall and gardens are beautiful and the courtyard cafe is really lovely, serving sandwiches, cakes, scones, soup etc. Rather expensive though, as is the ticket price. Staff are lovely and very welcoming, tour guides in each room explain in detail if you want to chat to them. Only criticism is it could be a bit more lively, all very hushed would be good to have had more interaction.
Parking is paid for by machine, think it was £3 so take change.
N. G.
The house was beautiful and had a homely atmosphere. The guides were interesting, knowledgeable and friendly. Many paintings had family resemblances which could be seen thanks to the greater than normal level of light for a National trust property. The walled garden was magnificent and perfect for any plant lover. All the windows appeared to have fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. It was a great afternoon out.
H. H.
I love National Trust locations; however, they're let down by the pricing! I appreciate it's a charity, but the parking, food and drink, and everything else are overpriced. The other grudge is the outdoor card machine; it cannot do contactless, which means you have to hold the card machine - not covid friendly! All of that said, the hall and grounds are stunning; I have visited the spot many times and will continue to do so.
D. K.
Visited Enchanted Felbrigg with the children and it was absolutely lovely. Really great activities but enough wilderness for them to explore and discover. Good mulled wine, clean toilet facilities and the fire pits were an inspired idea! It was £18 for two adults and two children which wasn't bad for the three hours that we spent there. The grounds had been decorated beautifully and we loved the uniqueness of the displays and story. We'll definitely be coming back if it runs again next year!
W.
The estate gardens & woodlands are a treat to walk in, especially with the dog. Routes of different lengths are ready laid out as you follow different signposts for each. The house is beautiful, but can be expensive. Fairs are good through the summer, things like art & craft shows, but again they ask a premium price. A very pretty location.
s. l.
Would be good with more staff
Very slow.
Better food menu
S. B.
The gardens are beautiful and the hall full of interesting history, which the volunteers were happy to share with us. We had a delicious bean chilli on jacket potato in the restaurant and bought lovely presents in the gift shop. However, in the gift shop the two people there to serve customers had a very animated conversation about how awful vegans are and how disgusting their food is. This went on for really quite some time. Being a vegan myself I found it offensive and thoroughly distasteful to listen to. I really think that a conversation like this should at least be held more privately if it has to be held at all.
J. P.
Well worth a visit. Pity national trust do concessions for Oap's.
S.
Fantastic place to visit while in North norfolk. It's national trust so you can use your membership card to park. The house it's self is a lovely place to work round. There is a beautiful garden to look round especially during summer time. The kids also love Easter time when all the baby lambs are being born and holding baby chicks. The cafe is also really lovely with plenty of outdoor seating. Staff are really knowledgeable and happy to help whenever possible. 10/10 place to visit.
M. R.
Outstanding place tonight. Needed more than one day. Couldn't do all of the park walks due to ground conditions but will go back to do them. Walled gardens are lovely and the house is great. Best part? If it's on, go on the attics and cellars tour. It made the history of the place even more fascinating
s. v.
Beautiful house and gardens. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I took my three year old and was pleasantly surprised at how child friendly it was in the house with a little quiz and worksheet and also a few interactive toys such as old brooms and dusters. Plenty of parking and the gardens are beautiful. Will visit again.
R. S.
One of the best NT properties in the UK
Pity about the coffee 🤣🤣
G. H.
Fantastic day. Must do the attic and cellar tour
W. F.
My second visit, and I love this gem of a House. Yes there are bigger estates and houses to visit, but you also get huge crowds, Felbrigg is far enough off the beaten track to retain its unique old world charm. the staff are more than happy to help and the room attendants ready to explain and point out special items and enlighten you as to the stories behind them.
The Walled garden is a must see!!! I visited August and it was still a stunning display of autumnal colours. there are some rare plants and colours mixed together you wouldn't think would work, but they do. The Butlers Pantry does a really nice cream tea, enough in the pot for two cups each for the two of us. The scones were still warm, fresh out of the oven, wonderful. As you sit outside in the court yard, there are plants sales nearby and a steady stream of people buying the wonderful potted gems.
I would plan to spend the whole day hear if you really want to take it all in. We spent an hour in the House. Easily an hour in the walled garden. Then another two hours with a walk in the park. Then an hour on lunch and later a cream tea.
Don't forget to Gift Aid you entry fee to aid the Trusts valuable work.
P. “. B.
This was our first time at Felbrigg but we will definitely return when the rest of the Spring flowers are out plus Summer ones in the walled garden. Lots of walking to be done here when weather warmer although I suspect it might get muddy in quite a few places. We didn't have time to visit the Hall but sounds interesting. Cafe small & fairly basic with courtyard but adequate
E. H.
Very interesting place. We arrived late in the day but plenty of parking available. We looked around the house after we spent a bit of time outside, enjoying the sun, playing with the hula hoops and tennis sets left out. There are several walking routes around the grounds which I would have liked to do if we had the time, maybe if we visit again.
R. M.
Lovely house, but the gardens and grounds are spectacular. Aim for a good weather day as most of this location is outdoors.
M. D.
Great for walks / cycle rides. I would avoid cycling on wet days.
C. L.
Pleasant place to visit. Parking near house and gardens. Great place to walk your pooch. Beautiful walled garden with free roaming chickens. House is furnished as was and well maintained. Courtyard coffee bar and cafe.
R. B.
Great day out for kids young and old. My 5yo enjoyed hunting for the close up photos around the different rooms. The guides were knowledgeable and engaging with my children.
The courtyard cafe was relaxing after a wander around, except for the wasps that seemed to take an instant delight in tormenting my eldest.
All in all a great day out.
V. W.
Wonderful staff .....very interesting house. Well worthvthe visit
b.
The woods are lovely, ancient and varied and great for a walk. The hall is lovely too, although a little expensive if you don't have National Trust cards to get in for free. You can still see the grounds and some of the gardens for free.
M. R.
Lovely place.
Buildings are gorgeous.
Walled garden is made of 4 parts.
A wildflower meadow.
An orchard with bees and chicken.
A flower garden
And last but the best bit of all. A vegetable and herb garden. Beautifully looked after and impressive in it's productivity.
All the rest is good too.
And they have EV charging points.
R. W.
I have visited this beautiful house many times but yesterday I took my friend along; she is a new National Trust member. The house was as beautiful as ever, we really appreciated the gorgeous floral arrangements your ladies had done; they brought elegance to the rooms. The volunteers were as informative and helpful as ever and there is always something new to learn.
We decided to take the Attic and Cellar tour and we were not disappointed! Our two lady guides were wonderful, knowledgeable and they worked so well together - a special thank you to them. In all, we had a very enjoyable time and came away with the warm glow that Felbrigg gave to us.
Thank you to all at Felbrigg
C. B.
Always love coming here for long walks around the woods and gardens
M. S.
Visited 9 September about 11.30am to 2pm. Reasonably good Café quick service soup or stew recommended. Loved the main building lots good furniture in all rooms. The walled garden was exquisite huge rhubarb and pumpkins amazing. We are two Aussies on tour first time in Norfolk area.
T. D.
We love the NT. This place was fantastic as usual. Large house to look around with the usual friendly staff. Large eating area for the cafe. Good clean toilets. We didn't find the children's play area. Not sure they actually have one. The walled garden was fantastic and they have a dove house you can go in to and see the birds roosting. Would love to go again one day.
R. F.
Lovely grounds, so few people about to make it enjoyable. Shame we couldn't view the inside of the house - good reason to return. But one very negative point, probably the worst coffee I have ever experienced - undrinkable! And that after having to go through the usual CV queuing palaver.
R. P.
An interesting National Trust property where you can spend several hours, what with touring the house, viewing the gardens, and wandering around the estate. Inside, I particularly liked the bedroom with the hand painted wallpaper which, we were told, had twice been taken off the walls during conservation and then replaced.
P. B.
A good national trust property with good walks and garden
T. F.
Excllent gardens and knowledgable, helpful staff. Fascinating history.
R. M.
Another great National Trust property in wonderful condition, full of beautifully furnished rooms and architectural features
g.
Nice place but pricey if not already members, so join maybe.
B. R.
Can't comment on the inside of the hall, we only did the grounds. Grounds and ground staff all good and I can recommend the big hunting packs, spent a good time looking for bugs and trying to identify them. As with all NT properties food and drink is a bit pricey. It does have a lovely second hand bookshop.
D. F.
You can have a wonderful day out at Felbrigg. Choose to park up and wander the gardens, or perhaps bring a picnic. There are several lovely walks from the car park taking in fields, lakes and Woodland. The walled garden is my personal favourite.
Visit the house for a very interesting experience where knowledgeable guides give an insight into the house and it's history. There are information sheets and a guide book available too. The library was my highlight, apart of course for the tea shop. I recommend the sausage rolls there.
I would recommend joining The National Trust if you enjoy days like these. Membership gives you free entry into all their properties and it doesn't take many visits to pay for itself. Add to that the free parking in National Trust car parks, lots of which are around the coast, can make membership good value.
B. B.
Had great afternoon, lots to see and extensive by grounds to explore
T. H.
Been walking about here for years and years, still haven't been in the house! The gardens and forests are all around where we live so know it well. great place to walk and plenty places to park up if you aren't a member and just want to run the dog about or enjoy the walk.
T. H.
Not as grand as many stately homes, but nice grounds, particularly the walled garden. Cafe gets very busy at peak times, lots of seating in the summer when nice outside, but serving area could do with being larger.
A. B.
We have been coming to Felbrigg for decades with kids, dogs, family and a picnic! No matter how full the car park is you can always find a quiet spot in the grounds to enjoy the landscape. Must look around the house itself one of these days!...
W. C.
Lovely hall set in a large estate with plenty of walks around. There is an courtyard containing a cafe, shop and toilets. There is also a small secondhand bookshop in the reception area. Plenty of car parking in the large car park. Good for a short visit/walk or a whole day of exploring!
P. P.
Spent nearly all day here listening and looking at this superb historic building. The staff are once again who have enthusiasm and ensure you are completely happy with your visit.
A good restaurant with a selection of hot and cold food at reasonable prices.
It's National Trust so free parking for members
A. x.
Free packing and visit for national trust member, nice place.
V. O.
A rainy and windswept day visiting this very historical place. Presently, the ground floor is open in the hall, which was very fascinating and with very knowledgeable staff. The walled garden was amazing to.
C. H.
Beautiful, intimate country house with formal walled gardens, expansive walks and rambling woodland to get lost in. Regular events well worth attending. Perfect for families wanting to explore. Great for dog walks.
L. W.
The box hedging in the walled garden looks as though it has a disease
P. S.
The hall and grounds are very well kept and the staff seem to really enjoy their work. The lady working on the desk recommended another local attraction to us, we visited that as well and had a fantastic day out. Felbrigg is not a full day out unless you enjoy the many long walks. Highly recommended.
R. P.
Great place for walks and enjoying the autumn colours around the park. Always worth a visit. Plenty of variety to see and the walled garden is a gem.
c. s.
Somewhat disappointed by this property. As regular visitors to NT properties around the country got the impression that more could have been done by management, staff and volunteers to give more life inside and out. The exhibits were there and had been dressed up but there was something missing. We just walked round and were out in about half and hour. We talked to one member of staff who recommended that we went to Blickling as it had much more to offer.
The cafeteria needed more staff. As we were early we went there first and there was a very long queue. We saw one person on the till, one making coffee and another coming and going from the kitchen area. The used tray trollies were full but not being emptied and there were full trays everywhere. More staff needed.
If I had had to pay for the visit I would have been very disappointed
K. S.
Enchanted Felbrigg - what a great way to be festive! My son who's two LOVED it - little trail - finding the bells, the snow balls, the big sleeping giant, the drums...a lovely location for a walk. Coffee shop is simple but warm and pleasant NT selection of foods. Did like the wooden children's horses in the stables...nice touch! We are NT members so it's worth visiting at events like that as it's free. All in all will be going back to visit the hall.
h. p.
Had a short walk around here however didn't have time for the house this time. Saw lots of lambs and cows which the kids loved. Some really nice walks. Car park is free for national trust members. Will be back again.
D. R.
Thoroughly enjoyed the hall, particularly interesting as it was left to the NT to be preserved 'as is' with the original contents and furnishings. Very friendly and informative guides in all the rooms and the lady on the till was also particularly helpful. Was raining the day i visited so didn't spenduch time on the gardens or park but looked interesting. As usual, slightly pricey trip for non NT members but I don't currently have time to visit many properties so I'm happy to pay as i go.
J. D.
Love visiting Felbrigg! Lovely walks for the dogs and delicious food in the courtyard but does get busy during holiday season. Very good events throughout the year which is entertaining for all the family.
C. F.
Very enjoyable have visited before always something to wonder at.
L. D.
Lovely place to visit, one of my favourite National Trust places. Enchanted Felbrigg was a lovely Christmas event. Glad to hear the hall is opening in January next year. I'll be back for dog walks before then though.
R. M.
Brilliant walks around park and gardens
D. C.
Very nice place to visit. Massive grounds to walk in of which some is free. Restaurant seating is as, per usual NT standards, woefully inadequate. Staff are friendly. Rucksacks must be put in little lockers before entering the house.
S. D.
Beautiful place to visit, especially on a lovely warm day. Also went around the house which was good. Can also sit outside after and have a nice cuppa and some food, although being National Trust is more on the expensive side.
C. W.
This is a National Trust property so don't forget your membership card. I had a bad back so confined find my visit to the Walled Garden only. Oh how wonderful it looked. I complimented the gardeners on making my visit so enjoyable.
F. d. C.
Lovely well marked walks around the grounds. if you're not a National Trust member its does cost to Park but the walks are free, it does cost to enter the house there are refreshments and toilets on-site
A. H.
You can visit the Forrest but at the moment the estate not open for visitors
Enjoyed my day out recommend that you visit here had a bacon Cheese sandwich with a sausage roll with a latte coffee with sweeteners north norfolk you have too look on line for more details aswell please
I. C.
Lovely old place for walking etc.
D. M.
Decent walks with dogs, but, the signage could be better, seems to be only signed in one direction rather than both for the circular walks which is a bit odd and some of the signposts are very well hidden.
J. A.
I like this place... lots of car parking great walks in and around the grounds.... near the coast and close to the highest point in Norfolk... cycling is good too..if you keep off main roads. Oh and the Hall is old and interesting if you like that sort of thing.
S. R.
Great place of natural beauty and fab place to take the dog and always has family friendly events on thoroughout the year. Viewing to see the house may be a bit pricey for some, but great for National Trust members!
A. L.
One of the most glorious walled gardens I have ever visited. As with any National Trust property there's a pretty decent cafe and wonderfully helpful staff and volunteers.
C. M.
You can use the tea room here without having to be a National Trust member, unlike at Baddesley -snotty-Clinton, which is a bonus as although I am a member my partner is not. Staff and volunteers were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Excellent sausage rolls!
M.
Good place to visit in good weather. Cafe extremely expensive - take your own picnic, if possible.
Some interesting unprompted views and discussions overheard from staff and volunteers regarding the way they are treated by National Trust over gay issues and being forced to wear LGBT badges.
One gets the feeling that there is another agenda going on with the National Trust - why don't they just promote their core business rather than jumping on such a PC bandwagon, which clearly is having a negative impact on some of their staff and volunteers - oh, and importantly, many of their core members and visitors.
Our visit was marred by the undertone of political correctness and totally unnecessary focus on a largely irrelevant issue.
C. G.
Went on spur of the moment. Seems unfair to have to pay entrance fee plus car parking. Walled garden is beautiful. Refreshments over priced. House interesting and as upstairs closed off reduced price on admission
b.
Excellent National Trust property and grounds, very well kept. My only concern is the lack of dog waste bins. To my knowledge there are only two, one in the car park and one at the start of the Victory walk. Could consideration be given to provide two more, one extra in the car park and one near to the rear park exit. Regards Tim Smith.
J. H.
Really interesting visit. Informative and friendly guides happy to answer any questions as we toured round house.
Kitchen showing utensils used and food prepared made it unusually interesting...as not many houses have equipped kitchens to view.
Short films made the social history of the house (and how it's looked after now) come to life.
B. P.
Disabled ♿ friendly National Trust property just outside Cromer. Walled garden with year round interest and wheelchair ♿ available. Three waymarked paths through the grounds. Courtyard cafe and shop. Interesting church with brass rubbing facilities.
t. a.
We really enjoyed the house and walled gardens. Even if you are not a national trust member the entry price is very reasonable and great value. Volunteer staff very helpful and informative.
A. R.
I love this place. The woods are just amazing
P. G.
Felbrigg Hall is standard fayre for the national trust. They have taken an historical old country pile and brought it back into public usage so that we can all enjoy it today. The house is rich and sumptuous with history. Ornate plaster ceilings musty old books in the library paintings of all shapes and sizes and busts galore.
The walled garden is a great display of the gardeners craft. Well laid out with everything you could think of and a great deal more besides.
There are four walks laid out in the grounds from a 1.5 mile stroll to a 4 mile circum-navigation of the grounds.
A good cafe serving all the usual favourites in the cake and snack panoply.
A perfect example also of a national trust shop selling all the things you see in pretty much every national trust shop.
P. D.
Hadn't been to Felbrigg for a good few years. Really enjoyed the Walled Garden. It was good to visit the house again and refresh my memory, plus had a good walk in the Great Wood.
C. A.
For history buffs and those who like country life, what could be better than a visit to such historic National Trust property. The walled gardens are a delight, and the house is an excellent lesson in history.
L. T.
A beautiful place to visit. Plenty to do with a variety of different walks, a visit to the walled garden or a visit to the hall. Nice enclosed courtyard with a cafe, shop, plant sale and a book shop. All in all a wonderful place to go.
M.
Lovely walks and lovely gardens
N. G.
Excellent parkland for dog walking providing you avoid the fields of sheep.
Excellent courtyard but cafe dreadfully slow.
F. S.
We walked around the grounds with our dog which has very attractive wooded parts as well as a path around the edge of fields etc. The house is an interesting visit. The volunteer guides are friendly and keen to give more info. We had lunch in the court yard cafe with our dog and so one person had to sit/eat and read the guide book while the other looked at the house, then swapped places. The only drawback with a dog is there really has to be two of you, unless you only come to walk. There is a small outside kiosk in the courtyard where you can get a snack if you can't go inside. But is closes early than the main cafe. I'm not tying my dog up outside. Cute dogs get nicked.
J. S.
Excellent house and gardens, particularly the walled kitchen garden. Wonderful estate walks.
E. C.
Lovely national trust property and walks
N. L.
Such a beautiful place. The staff are very friends and highly worth a visit. Take a long walk through the gardens and just see England's beautiful places.
T. W.
Unusual in that most of its furniture and artworks belonged to the original owners. Nice location with good facilities. Walled garden contains some very pretty trees.
M. S.
Perfect in all respects. Helpful guides throughout The Hall. Gardens well kept and ablaze with the colours of Rhodedendrons in The West Garden and The Walled Garden perfectly maintained . Typical of all National Trust Properties with Free Entry for NT Members at most including this one.
A. C.
A great place for walks with dogs, children or even on your own. Food in cafe is always a welcome reward afterwards, but watch out for long queues and slow service... Seating can be in short supply during really busy periods.
m. a. a. e.
Lovely Nat Trust property, walks, walled garden.
A. S.
Beautiful house, garden and grounds, lovely tearoom with vegetarian options. Friendly staff. Free parking for National Trust members. Well worth a visit - several visits, in fact.
B. D.
I store my ex-wife in the ice house. Temperature just right to keep her preserved!
R. E.
Visited whilst on holiday with the family as we had a national trust pass. My wife rated the house better than shrugborough (I did one of the walks with the dog). Would visit again.
M. B.
I enjoyed my visit and walk but will have to pop back again as due to social distancing I couldn't get to see the House in full. The volunteers here though were very knowledgeable and helpful. 😀
A. T.
A good morning or afternoon out. Go on a nice day, so you can enjoy the gardens and grounds, as well as the house. Usual National Trust cafe and gift shop facilities.
J. N.
Lovely gardens and a huge park to explore. The cafe did not offer much in the way of lunches which was a surprise.
T. R.
Not the biggest, grandest or oldest hall you can see with the national trust but despite that it is well worth a visit. Well maintained with friendly staff and plenty to see means you can quite happily spend an afternoon at Fellbrigg and enjoy every minute of it.
M. “.
Good to get access to national trust properties again. Booking system good to avoid busy entrance, gardens were lovely .a great day out
P. O.
A place of joy and serenity, beautifully maintained by national trust. The house, gardens and grounds are quintessentially english. Cafe is of a high quality with friendly staff and treats for all. Highly recommended.
r. d.
Great place owned by the national trust, although the hall was closed due to Covid -19 we still managed to have a good explore of the garden areas which were beautiful and in full bloom.
B. J.
We love walking around Felbrigg...but the house is still closed at the moment but you still have the gardens and walks to explore
R. W.
Brilliant! We followed the blue signed circular walk from Felbrigg to Cromer and back. A long walk, but really lovely to stop in Cromer for lunch before returning to Felbrigg. Parking straightforward and simple under the new rules, make sure you book online!
T. C.
Beautiful walled garden with wide range of flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables, along with glasshouses with exotic plants. Very well laid out with plant names identifiable, a great aid and inspiration for a novice gardener
R. B.
Parkland and woodland to wander around. Cannot take dogs into gardens (like most other National Trust properties). Pleasant cafe in a courtyard with seats in the sun and the shade.
A. J.
Nice place -- good walks.
S.
Visited Felbrigg with the children and it was great! The kids absolutely loved it. Plenty of woodland for them to explore and discover. Good cafe and clean toilet facilities. Well worth a visit.
J. S.
Lovely place to visit knowledgeable staff very helpful
T. &. S. W.
Beautiful place with long walks. Cafe ok. Gardens lovely. Knowable staff
M. A.
Great hall and walled garden. Wonderful walks in the surrounding park land. Nice little cafe. Well worth a visit.
e. s.
Beutifull place to spend quality time by learning history
P. A.
my favourite national trust property; beautiful woodland walks, extensive grounds, wild life in abundance. the hall is homely and stunningly beautiful, walled gardens superb, very good national trust refreshments available; a good day out for all. Just stayed at the national trust sexton Lodge at felbrigg hall only to find out from locals and national trust staff that its owners are in fact a local farmer whose cattle wonders everywhere at felbrigg ruining walks for walkers and defo dog owners, yet they rent it as a national trust property!!! Yet its a local farmer plus his business associate who owns sexton lodge!!! So the national trust just acting like an estate agent? Disgusting and against the trades description act as its false advertising, we thought we where supporting the national trust in full, NOT filling the pockets of a local wealthy farmer and his mate. Disgusted and we will take this matter further., i refuse to remain a member of the national trust if they deliberately mislead their members. Footnote... We had an email from management of national trust lettings stating clearly that the trust owns sexton lodge at Felbrigg hall and never act as letting agents although often asked to be so but the national trust always refuse!! However locals who live in the village plus 2 members of trust staff insist sexton lodge is owned by a local farmer and his business partner., soo the truth is out there ... As they say! Its a bit of an area 51 mystery. Lol 😂
h. m.
Great place for all the family. Hall and gardens to visit. Or take the dog for a long walk through the forest and finish off with a cuppa in the courtyard cafe- dogs welcome
b. h.
Wonderful National Trust property in beautiful surroundings. Good cafe with plenty of seating in and out. House is truly worth a visit.
J. A.
Loved the grounds and gardens. Different length colour coded walks. Tea room, shop and of course the house. Great day out.
D. C.
Lovely gardens and walks on the estate. The house isn't open everyday so check before you travel. Well worth a visit stunning.
J. B.
Beautiful gardens, just a real shame we couldn't go in the house, but completely understand.
Just a really beautiful place to visit
P. G.
Particularly impressed with the walled garden
P. F.
Great place to spend the day, lovely walks through woods, meadow and around the lake. Hall is interesting to see and pleasant seating area outside of cafe, very enjoyable place to visit
N. P.
Just loved it, the walled garden must not be missed. Visited end of September and still stunning. The hall is warm, welcoming and cosy. A real joy.
S. L.
A very enjoyable place to visit with friendly volunteers to help you.
The house is very impressive and with a great tearoom it makes the experience even better.
J. J.
Excellent. 8 of us stayed in the Squires Retreat house. The house is equipped to the highest standard. Kitchen has everything and the crockery is China. Only drawback you have to drive to the pub!
T. R.
Great for family days out, cafe has lovely food, plenty of walks plus the house, walled garden and regular events held here are always enjoyable!
t. f.
Lovely place to visit and explore I visit regularly to walk the dogs, there are 4 or 5 different routes to walk including the walled garden and tennent farm with different events on throughout the year
L. W.
Excellent place for walks with the dog. Extensive grounds. Lovely café with outdoor seating. Busy when events are on. Annual chilli festival worth a try.
M. C.
A lovely place, fabulous property, great grounds for walking pooches and a cafe serving good quality coffee. What more could you possibly need from a NT property?
A. M.
Lovely, with very friendly helpful staff- great 2nd hand book shop.
D. T.
Felbrigg is a wonderful calming destination that exists in a time warp divorced from the 21st century. Nestled in the North Norfolk countryside 3 miles from Cromer it offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy long walks, or a look around the house and gardens. Or you can just have a coffee and snack in the courtyard. Any of which is worthwhile.
D. H.
A great day out for all, there is the beautifully preserved house, the blooming walled garden and dovecote and of course the short woodland walks. (About 2 miles).
B. G.
Beautiful estate which has a church that you can visit and a lovely lake. Lots of walks and exploring to be done here. Cafe and shop on site also.
D. S.
Good walked garden
P. S.
Farm delivery only no issues.

B. K.
The walled garden is amazing

A great place to visit. We especially liked the walled garden and the second-hand bookshop.

M. H.
Beautiful gardens. House closed due to Covid but still worth a trip.

Interesting place. As with all National Trust properties it is very well run and has all the facilities needed. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Super place, very dog friendly and lovely staff and volunteers. Thoroughly enjoyed our return visit.
J. H.
we have just visited felbrigg hall house and garden twice in one week as new national trust members the first time which was saturday a pianist was playing in the first room of the house it was the highlight of the visit lovely atmosphere but on the pay desk on both occasions we were bullied into leaving our rucksacks in a locker, i had to be very firm and assertive saying that i was not prepared to do this and would have liked to be treated as a responsible adult it was not a good inpression and it was also mentioned in the house by the staff three more times.
G. D.

Walled garden is lovely even in winter
L. S. H.
A house, that look like the owner just left.
A. S.
Lovely house and gardens. Had tea and cake in the courtyard which was very pleasant. Followed by a little shopping.
p. h.
Stunning house and gardens, if you can do the attic tour, nothing has been removed from the house since the 1970s, broken food mixer included
M. B.
A great place to explore. The hall is amazing, the grounds are very well maintained and there is ample parking.
