Good choice of paths, lovely place to walk and great park for the kids.
Also a nice little walk for children with wooden animal sculptures, and there's a booklet for 20p outside the cafe to do rubbings of the different animals as you go round, but we went on a wet day so couldn't do it.
Theres a nice little cafe, public toilets and the car park is free or £1 donation.
N. S.
A former coal mining site turned into a really
beautiful park and urban green space. Developed over a number of years it has now got a super children's playground catering for children of all ages. A cafe which provides food and drink and is well stocked. There are tree trails and sculptures. Paths are well maintained and offer a variety of different lengths of walks. There's also now plenty of parking spaces with a top and bottom car park which has CCTV cameras for security.
H. S.
Lovely place for a dog walk, with 4 easy to follow marked routes to choose from based on length and difficulty.
Top carpark was very busy but plenty of space at the bottom.
Great views and some nice carvings and art pieces to look at on the way round.
Nice to see wheelchair accessible benches.
Play area looked very busy and we gave up on getting a snack/drink as the queue was long and moving very very slowly. Suggest you take a picnic.
Car park runs on a donation system.

This is a former coal mining site turned into a really beautiful park and urban green space. It has got a beautiful children's playground catering for children of all ages. The cafe is very good and well stocked and serves a range of itemise. It's is introducing native species of trees and you can find out what these their native tree trails 👣. There's also plenty of parking space and lots of wildlife to keep your eyes out for. I love the pack too.

A gem of a country park, it has plenty for young and old alike. Ample car parking at only a Pound a day with an honesty box, lovely walks around the park, toilets and a nice coffee shop with more than ample seating inside and out. A Tree Trail and wood sculptures. Panoramic views of Nottinghamshire and even Lincolnshire on a clear day. Well worth more than one visit.
P. S.
This is a wonderful place to visit. We can see the nearby solar farm, and there are some good viewpoints like a Sugar factory, Lincolnshire cathedral, power station, etc. We can walk around the park for a minimum of an hour. Quite big indeed. At the front, there are play areas for the kids, and there is a food court as well. This park is usually open from 8 am to 9 pm, but the toilets will be closed by 5 pm. The park is having two car parks and can accommodate a minimum of 50 cars.
A.
An amazing park with multiple dofferent routes depending on how many steps you want to get in. Plenty of parking which is free but there are donation pots. A park for the kids, a cafe with a nice selection of drinks and food. The staff were extremely friendly. Some lovely view points on the walks which make for great photo opportunities.
E. B.
Lovely park to walk around, be aware that there are some quite hilly parts, so may not be suitable for wheelchairs or those less mobile.
A park, coffee shop and education centre available.
Best suited to the warmer and drier weather as no really cover.
D. L.
Besides the beautiful land and view, the cafe is also very good with nice sandwiches and drinks. You will also be very welcome by Cafe staff. A good option if you did not bring your own food for picnic.
R. P. Q.
Visited during the park run. Lovely park with more than your usual playground, cafe with toilets and ample parking space.
T. L.
A lovely country park with great play equipment for all ages of children and fantastic walks with views of the local area.
The car park is free *£1 donation if you like*
It's quite large but does fill up on warm days and school holidays.
The facilities include a cafe for dine in and take out with accessible toilets.
(I'd like to see a hut towards the bottom selling ice cream and drinks)
Walking around you will find a wooden animal trail to follow which is a nice addition.
The view points are great with plenty of information about what you might see on a clear day.
Some areas of the park may be a challenge for wheelchair uses as some footing is gravel.
Now the Gedling access road is near completion I'm hoping for a safe crossing to Lambley rec.
With roumers around a "green lung",which at some stage linking up digby park to GCP, this would be fantastic for the local area.
A. S.
A lovely green walk lots of wildlife very clean ,well worth the visit ,lots of parking ,cafe area toilets etc
P. M.
Went out for evening walk with my Mrs and the girls. It's been a while since I've been here with them and it was so calming. Loving the look out points which are a nice feature they have added. The view were nice too especially since it was a clear day. Then we finished off the walk playing with our girls on the park which includes a zip line that my four year old braved and loved doing too.

Having watched this park evolve over the few years it has been in existence, twice it has lost space to new housing and now split for the new by-pass, what is left is still worth the visit - with fabulous views from Lincoln round to Nottingham, it has all sorts of interesting features - beautiful sculptures that reflect the mining industry it is built on and the wildlife it encourages. It isn't so big you can get lost, not so small you can't enjoy a run or cycle or just walk and walk. A small herd of cows and several ponds, scrub land, meadow and woodland - the different terrains are home to a diverse range of birds, wild flowers, hedgerow and lots of interest! It has a fabulous play ground near the car park, Café and toilets. Find the beacon at the solar farm and you can watch the aeroplanes coming round to land at EMA on the bleakest, coldest, windy-est viewpoint bench in all England. Take a flask and some cake and enjoy
N. C.
Lovely park which is accessible for everyone. Have visited a few times but in winter a lot of the facilities (park, cafe etc) are either closed or hours are very short, or because they're at the top, it's very windy and unpleasant. Still a nice walk with a lot of parking. The park run is good here, too.
B. A.
I love this park for walking or running, the coffee place is in a good spot to have a spectacular view for the park.
A.
This is a great little walk and they have a fantastic couple of parks, a smaller one for the younger kids, with a sandpit, swing and slide.
They also have one for the older kids with some great activities.
The cafe is never really open when we visit, but I've caught it open some times and it's done the job.
The walk around will take you about 30-45 minutes with kids and there are other paths to take if you want a longer one
L.
Great place for families, the children's play area looks like great fun for kids that like to play, it was very busy.
We did the red trail which is classed as hard. Great paths, easy to walk.
Very clean and tidy. However, as lovely as it is to see the lookout points over the city it is a little sad at all the land being cleared below to build more and more. The walk was a little boring but would do it again because it's a good walk to build fitness, but if you want something a little more aesthetically pleasing, maybe avoid this park.
M. M.
Lovely country park. Visit often. Can get busy but it's big enough for everyone. Play area for kids, nice cafe, long walks and great views across the city.
C. O.
Great place & it's free. Loved the walk and whilst not a challenging one it's a good walk. If you've got a dog, doesn't get much better than this
Z. M.
A range of easy and more challenging routes. Cows are sometimes seen grazing in the nearby paddocks. Good for pushchairs and bikes etc. Has a big playground and also cafe next to it.
s. f.
Great place to visit with plenty of parking spaces.
Sited at the ex gedling colliery pit tip site with plenty of mixed levels of walks.
On site cafe and toilets and out door seating with some great views of the local area.
Great use of a ex pit top.
S. F. N.
Definitely one of the best country park in Nottingham I've visited. Great walking and cycling trails with attraction information about the wildlife. Views upon views, two play areas for the children, café with nice homemade cakes, tea, coffee and sell good ice creams 🙆🏿♂️
I highly recommend 💪🏿😁👌🏿🙌🏿
g. m. (.
Great country park for Gedling to be proud of. Fantastic play area and cafe, and lovely walking area with amazing view points where you can drink in miles of scenery. But sadly I've felt obliged to mark down due to the low entrance height restrictors which stop me visiting in my taxed and insured vehicle, camper van. Another day van had to reverse out while we were there as he could not get under the barrier and we later say him parked nearby on a new house development.
E. S.
Really lovely country park, clean and tidy (apart from a lot of dog fouling 🤨). Fab play parks for kids of all ages, great café and loads of different trails to discover. Most are wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Really fun day out 😀
J. A.
Lovely place to walk and take children
J. L.
A pleasant Country Park with lots of walking and cycling routes. Plenty of parking space but fills up quickly due to our love of the outdoors in the current climate. A good playground for the kids and a nice coffee shop with snacks. Not a lot of wildlife but managed to see a very confident squirrel and some lovely dogs being walked 🐿
j. h.
Great walks lovely place lots of people but it's so big here it's also peaceful.parking is free but they suggest a one pound donation which I'm more than happy to pay. Kids park play area picnic area and more.
These a cafe that dose some simple food and drinks and it's always lovely with pleasant staff.
S. T.
Fantastic place for spending together time with family or friends. Good for walking, running, for other activities. And for taking photos.
S. J.
Amazing views over Nottinghamshire towards Lincoln, or into the city of Nottingham. Can be a gentle stroll or a great place to run! Great looking park thats good for the kids and a little cafe is wonderful too. Great place to visit
A. L.
Lovely park, easy to go. A lot of parking spaces. Many of the routes with different difficulties, suitable for young and old.
There has a cafe too.
T. S.
This is a beautiful park and nice to see regeneration of an old colliery site.
The walk ways are all paved so even good for wheelchair/pushchair access so makes it enjoyable for all.
Would be nice to have the path divided into 2 for foot/cycles as it is plenty big enough and creates a little more courtesy and stops confusion when a cycle approaches.
My kids are 6 and 3 and both of them loved the play area as well as the walk. It is nice to see the carved animals as this is educational and also keeps the kids walking without realising the miles they are putting in. (Hehe)
The kids play park is one of the best i have been to recently and it has things i haven't seen in other parks. Nice to see that again this has been designed with the history in mind. The main slide is a pit shaft winding house.
Free parking
Good clean toilets
Free water bottle filling station
Nice cafe
Gets a big 👍's up from me (and my kids)
J. P.
Wonderful place for walking, running, children. Nature close to a city. A brilliant place and there's a coffee shop too.
T. D.
Nice walk lovely park for children. Plenty of open space and coffee shop very reasonably priced
D. F.
Great transformation of a former colliery with plenty of walks. You can choose your route from easy walking to a challenge. Wild flowers and foliage in abundance. Cycling catered for also. Free car park recently enlarged. Cafe located near children’s play area.
V. T.
Great place to walk your dog!
M. J.
Lovely childrens park and a range of walks, I can see it being very busy in the summer time, lots of parking but a 6,6 barrier on entry
A. G.
We came for a walk but ended up spending all our time in the kids park. Lots to see and do for our son. He spent most of his time in the sand pit. Nice cafe and access to toilets. Lots of parking, we will be coming back and hopefully get to take advantage of the lovely walks here!
R. W.
Lovely walke's and the views are great. A very nice cafe for a hot chocolate on a cold winters day. Park for the kids and fairly large car park which is donation.
C. T.
Beautiful country park pity about the dog mess that the owners leave behind
S. W.
Lovely place to walk with a dog/family, 4 different routes around the park which are all sign posted and varying from different lengths of time, distance and also intensity. Great views, the play park is good and the cage isn't overpriced, plus only paying a donation for the car park is a massive bonus
M. M.
Its good for families, with
🐕 🐕 babies and kids can play on the park, is divided in two, one bit for toddlers and one bit for children. Look up and you could be lucky enough to see hovering birds, it has wide paths reeds in the ponds grazing cows. People go to jog , walk the dog have a coffee parking is free the veiws are great
Has a cafe toilets, large car park, play park literally these aminaties are within the same Proximity
T. W.
An excellent park especially in the Autumn with all the colours of the trees. It has very good and well maintained trails, a superb children's play area and an excellent cafe among other things. Well worth a visit.
L. C.
Plenty of set route options shown or just wander as you like. There are lots of sculptures and details to take in along the way including the memorial.
R. W.
just about coming into its own now a good walk 4 diffrent trails a little steep at times but ok even with a good mobility scooter
H. T.
I routinely walk here and its lovely to end the walk at the coffee shop. Staff are very helpful, both food and drink served (card only). Gets a little busy on Sundays from 11am, turn up earlier you want a parking space.
s.
beautiful country park. free parking. I do the 1mile walk as I'm disabled passes the pong and flower garden.
Theres a run and a separate cycle route aswell.
saw alot of people doing the run route, I did also notice a filter water station that's free to use.
2 play parks for big and small kids with a cafe that is serving threw a window atm due to covid. shuts around 4pm ish.
only down side is there no recycling bin. all them coffee cups going to general waste, after they have done such a beautiful job transforming the park seem silly not to make it eco efficient too.
V. C.
Great playground split into 2 for young and older children. Cafe serving hot drinks and hot food but no indoor seating due to covid. Plenty of outdoor seating but hardly any cover from the elements which is my only negative point. Toilets are clean. Great walking where you can see for miles around once at the top. Great few hours blowing the cob webs away.
S. W.
This was my first visit to Gedling Country Park, I loved it. The views are stunning and the walk isn't just flat so you can work up a sweat or you can have a leisurely stroll. We visited as a group from work getting our steps in as we're taking part in Stepember 10,000 per day, everyday in September. We're going again very soon
A. M.
Easy to walk around, very friendly people, the light early evening is amazing
J. B.
My partner son and me went today to gedling country park it was our first time. it was really lovely the play area is great very well thought out a café and very stunning views across gedling you can do a nature a trail if you buy a book for 20p from the café my son loved doing it, finding all of that animals they have got different trails one that is more flat it's worth going to if you live nearby or you are looking for something different to go in Nottinghamshire
L. R.
Nice place for a family walk
J. B.
Great play park, good for all ages. Zip wire too! Both my son (7) and daughter (4) love this place. Nice walks as well.
H. K.
Lovely spot and various length walks to suit everyone. A cafe too, and the play areas look perfect. Parking is by donation rather than some of the outrageous charges made by other attractions which I much prefer and happy to throw in a few ££'s
M. I.
Kids loved there bike ride here, so nice and quite for family time.
J. J.
A wonderful walk with the dog , great views a the way round. Topped off with a hot chocolate and a nice piece of cake. Very nice it was too. Will definitely be going again.
M. S.
Varied routes for walking and running. Over 3.5 miles on the outer route but plenty of shorter alternatives. A few good hills. Decent paths that don't get muddy in the wet. Lots of free parking. A good cafe and public toilets near the car park. A weekly Saturday parkrun.
L. A.
Always excellent and well maintained, but with wild spaces and rich habitats.
Also good to visit for kids with the large play space and availability of Pokemon Go stops and gyms.
Cafe has vegan options too!
T. T.
Nice place for a walk or to rude a bike. Parking is free with suggested donation of a pound. Big open space which make it really wonderful when is sunny. Close to the parking there is a coffee and children playground.
S. A. F.
Lovely, well planned park which will only get better and better as the trees grow even bigger
A. T.
I love this park for a good walk. It has many different paths. The kids love the playground too.
N. S.
A great place for a walk. Well laid out with good signage. A great playground for the kids with lots of seats for the adults. Well worth a visit
V. H.
Great for families, dog walkers, running ect. Just remember to wrap up warm in the winter months as is very exposed. Gorgeous scenery!
M. P.
Large area, very good paths. Excellent children's playground. Paths highly exposed, so wrap up warm.
M. P.
Took 🐕 for a walk on a lovely sunny morning , it was a pleasure to be out .
The park is a great place for a walk.
The kids play ground looked very busy but it was the first good weather of the Easter holidays .
Only concern is that the carpark gets full quickly , a victim of it's own success .
M. D. G.
Fantastic place for walks and also not worry about crowd.
L. B.
Visit to the brilliant playground with the grandchildren, we spent a lovely couple of hours playing and then walking and exploring. We had our picnic, there we're lots of tables around, the queue for refreshments at the cafe looked long! Plenty of parking space. Will definitely return to see more of the park another time.
P. W.
This is a lovely safe country park. Ideal for families, adults. The park is well thought out, and really good for walking.
D. H.
Absolutely beautiful for a long or short walk and a nice hot drink afterwards.
A.
Beautiful park for a long walk. Nice views.
Nice viewing platforms - located on the south and north where the solar farm.
Great views :)
B.
Huge country park with children's play park, public toilets and cafe, unfortunately the cafe is only doing take away for the time being so there's no inside seating. Overall fantastic park and love to come here for long walks.
D. T.
Very windy parkrun followed by a nice cuppa and vegan sausage cob. Bought a piece of vegan cake had at home OMG that was amazing best cake yet yum 👍
D. R.
Amazing place to visit with the children with a cafe and park and fantastic walks
K. B.
A large open green space with good views, ponds, made up paths, children's play areas, café and fairly plentiful parking and all not far from Nottingham city centre. The park is relatively new and should improve with maturity.
J. B.
Great use of a neglected local ex-colliery site. Good choice of routes from 2km to just about 6km if you take all the extra paths. Probably not the best place if you hate inclines, but the paths are great all proper tracks that never get muddy. Can get windy near the solar panels!
M. A.
Lovely place to go to for a walk or a run. There're several points to have a good view of the scenery, a little cafe that makes THE best hot chocolate and there're so many pups around (mostly on leashes) to brighten your day!
L. Y.
Great park for the children. Sandy park for the little ones and bigger one for older children,my 3 year old grandson enjoys both. Lovely walks too. Cafe.
C. F.
We like to visit the park now and again for a walk around, even though the park is surrounded by houses when you get into the park it feels like you are in the countryside. There's lots of different routes you can walk around and there's a park and cafe that's popular with families.
J. W.
Lovely to go for long walks or small walks, plenty if seating to rest in the way round and great for a picnic or just to walk your dog.
a. s.
Fantastic Park well maintained beautiful views
S. C.
Enjoyable place to visit for all ages, nice long walks , cafe & even a dicent park for the kids, totally free , car park on the small side would recommend getting early.
L. A.
Really nice, quiet place to go to. Secluded area with some great facilities and great walking trails. A lot to discover in this place and has so many different routes to walk and new areas to discover. Parking is very cheap and is offered at a £1 recommended donation. Greta place to take the kids and family as there is so much space to explore as well as a playground and a café for when the weather makes a turn for the worse, or if it gets too hot. The things offered in the café are a little highly price but is to be expected at any café at a country park. Overall, an amazing place to visit.
R. F.
Lovely park and great play area. Good cafe too but only used it once
G. H.
Great place to visit. There are various pathways of various lengths and gradients. Lovely views.
v.
Stunning views and nicely laid-out trails to follow. Also has a lovely playground for babies and children as well as ample parking. Good for the whole family. The cafe has also had a fairly recent revamp and the seating area is a great addition, although I'm yet to see it open!
R.
It is a beautiful place to be, has a cafe, toilets and plenty of open spaces with great views
G. “. E. M.
Having lived around Arnold most of my life, I have seen this place go from pit, slag heap, city dump and now transform into a wonderful nature park. There are plenty of walks to suit most people, some more flat, others taking in a mild to moderate hill. Tree planting has been good and it was nice to see a solar farm on the top, with cows grazing to keep grass and weeds down around the panels. We spotted Kestrel, mice and lots of other bird species. This will soon become a very important city reserve for nature. The Cafe by the Spring Lane car park is delightful with some good offerings to suit a sweet or savoury taste. Reasonably priced and with very pleasant staff. A lovely walk followed by a hot drink and some good to warm us up again on a cold November day.
J. W.
OK, but unfortunately the cafe had to close due to staff illness. Walk was good though and the views are excellent 👍
C. J.
Great place, quite a reasonable choice of routes for a stroll and the 1899 cafe for an ice cream or a hot or cold drink.
B. H.
We went at sunset and fun to go for a walk in the dark with torches. Went back during daytime and it has a really cool park.
F. M.
Really lovely park, clean and a place you can relax and enjoy the walks
R. R.
Really lovely now. Two great viewing areas - take your binoculars!
L. S.
They have done really well with the area and the cafe is super, the staff are lovely and friendly,
It's strange as I remember playing on the old railway as a kid, there was lots of nature and no people, now there is a bit of nature and lots of people! That's the only downside it gets ridiculously busy in the holidays and at the weekend!
I like to not be completely surrounded by people.
n. s.
Great walks and the park is fab for kids, the carpark however is always full to bursting with no alternative parking.
Needs more provision as the place expands
S. B.
Lovely large area with a number of good paths suitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users, although quite hilly in parts. Good playground with separate areas for younger and older children, situated near cafe and car park. £1 donation for parking. Large car park. Clean and cozy cafe with fabulous views over the park. Hot and cold drinks, ice creams, cakes, breakfasts, jackets, toasties and children's meals all served daily at reasonable prices. Also licenced serving wine and bottles beers/ciders.
A really good job has been made of creating safe habitats for wildlife and we saw kestrels and a long eared owl on out visit. We were informed by a lovely local that sky larks nest here. Dogs can be let off leads as parts of the park are well fenced off for the wildlife, however owners are asked not to allow dogs into the ponds, which are not fenced off.
Will definately return and look forward to seeing this fairly new site mature over the years.
S. G.
I recently moved to this area and Gedling park was a lovely surprise.
Amazing views, one of the best playgrounds in Nottingham (my boy loves it!), free car park (but donations are welcome of course :)
Very good cafe. Highly recommended.
B. P.
Great place for a short walk good access but very busy small carpark.
D. S.
Great park and playground. Beautiful views 😍
S. K.
Gorgeous morning. Managed to get a seat in seated area that you have to usually pre book.. great coffee. Fabulous views. Walked around the mid point route, just over a mile long. There are 3 routes you can do. There is a lookout point but couldn't see much. Was a lovely couple of hours with my chap 🙂
D. H.
Lovely park with multiple paths to walk and a well maintained children's play area
A. B.
Wonderful walks for beginners and the more practiced! The best playground for children and a lovely little café. Great views and as a family we have really enjoyed our repeated visits. Works for dog walkers, all ages and abilities, some wheelchair accessible walks, toilets, water refilling Station, playground, café, what more could you want!
J. B.
A lovely walk, and the new features and improvements planned this year will make it even better
D. C.
The day that we visited was very busy as it was a lovely warm, sunny day. The whole place was clean. There is a cafe with seating outside. Two parks, one for older children and one for the little one's, both seem to have plenty of thing's to keep the children busy, there's even a zip wire. With lot's of walks to stretch your legs. Only downside is the toilets, due to the pandemic, the ladies are only allowing two people in at a time, but when you get into the toilets there's only one cubicle open so long queues. We are still looking forward to returning.
G. M.
Just had a fabulous walk in this park for the first time. Apart from difficulty parking it was brilliant. The signs were very clear and as my husband can't walk far, we opted for the shortest walk. Plenty of benches go sit and enjoy the views. The coffee shop was brilliant. One way system in operation and the food was lovely. The staff were so friendly and helpful, it was a pleasure. In spite of covid, it was a joy to be out. Thoroughly recommended.
J. S.
Lovely park. Well maintained. Great cafe
M. M.
Great place to stay for a family walk in the country side nice free play area
Nice coffe too
R. J.
Park is Ok. The park views are really nice. Service in the coffee shop was a little slow.I
S. B.
First time here and great play for children, dogs and walking 😁
L. B.
Fun park for the kids and a great walk. Be great in the summer when the visitors centre opens.
M. C.
Excellent walk with views across Nottinghamshire and a nice cup of tea at the end.
L. B.
Great for walking my dog, good choice of different paths depending on your fitness/ability, and you're rewarded with fantastic views.
V. w.
Visit it quite a lot.lots of walking. But can be a bit steep in places. But there are plenty of walks to choose from
E. F.
Some beautiful views. Lovely walks great park for the children a fabulous job as been made from a once unsightly place. It just gets better the more the trees mature..
M. G.
Nice walk.... Lots and lots of dogs...some large ones bounding about, hardly any on leads. I was ok but some people /kids/frail may have a concern.
l. g. o.
Nice Park. Good walk. Interesting sculptures x
T. H. F.
Always a perfect place to go for a nice walk with the dog and the kids. In the summer and on the weekends, it can be extremely busy and parking can be a fuss. But definitely worth it witb thr beautiful views and kids park. X
P. M.
The car park was busy, with lot of people around this area. But once on the park itself the crowded feel dissipated. Lots of birdsong heard with wide variety heard and seen. The cafe is reopen for indoor seating and service. The quality of produce is good and reasonable selection of foods and drinks are available.
t. k.
A new facility which is developing and maturing well. Good carparking and entertainment for children
J. G.
No matter what the weather's like you should always have a jacket for the wind.
The pack is great for the children and the coffee at the main building is great for the adults.
The park as a whole is very good wit info points, woodland creature statues and art.
I would highly recommend it for a walk.
A. P.
Lovely park with some large areas for walking. Some elevation required to do the fool loop. Rewarded with some great views on clear days. The park is good but is very popular so can be busy. Cafe is close to the park.
M. A. B.
Beautiful place, perfect for jogging or hiking easy walks.
S. B.
Enjoyable even on a misty day, Lot's of different walks for different abilities
L. C.
Great place to walk and amazing views of Nottinghamshire.
C. B.
Fantastic place for hiking as there’s a few walks to choose from depending on your ability. I chose the blue and the yellow walk which is easy - moderate and still gives some a really nice views. Toilets at the entrance and kiosk for hot drinks is a bonus after the walking!
J. M.
Gorgeous walks! Plenty of different routes with varying levels of inclines. Always good to start at the 1899 cafe to grab a coffee! Great park for those with kids and plenty of picnic benches. Just a great spot all round!
R. I.
Good facilities with a Cafe serving take away Food and Drinks. We'll marked footpaths with a good surface suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Ideal place for a walk during Covid restrictions. Very good Children's play area.
G. R.
Visited Gedling country park on a sunday in sept 2020.
I took my dog for walk there .l managed to get a car parking space in the extra car park provided, just on the right as you enter the park.
I observed that are approximately 5 different paths you can take for different walks.
The one I went on took me up a bit of a incline where the views were really lovely of the surrounding area .
I passed by cows in a field as well.
Lots of people were that walking either with their dogs or just enjoying a good walk with fresh air and nice views.
The only thing g that bothers me us dogs off their lead as my dog tends to bark alot and draws attention from dogs off leads and this makes me anxious. Otherwise I enjoyed the experience.
There is a place as you enter the walkways to have a drink and a snack .
Also there is a children's play area which is very popular.
Because the park is very popular parking could be an issue at times.
It it free to enter .

It's a lovely park made on the site of an old coal mine. Very popular and the car park just keeps growing to meet the demand. Far too many children in the play area, no social distancing. A lovely walk with far reaching views, it's only spoilt by the new housing development and new bypass being built at the bottom of the hill. Nice visitors center and cafe, although closes far too early.
C. C.
Great place to visit. Good views with Lincoln Cathedral visible thirty seven miles away! Good children's play area. Skylarks can be seen and heard. Very good walks as well.
T. V.
Lovely walk today a d really nice place for all the family with toilets near car park as we as a little play park for the children .
Nice little walks and paths also and dogs walking is excellent
j. p.
Fairly new country park that is very hilly, but with electric push bikes it is a beeze and a very nice place to be. A very nice cafe and several small ponds dotted around. It will be even more lovely when establised. If walking around it be prepared for the hills.
F. J.
What am amazing place. Loads for kids to do, miles of open space to walk the dog, have a picnic. Beautiful little cafe that serves awesome coffee xxx
R. V.
A lovely place for anyone to take a walk. Children can enjoy a shirt zip wire and will have fun in the playgrounds when they re-open when Covid restrictions ease. Informative carvings of wildlife provide interest for children and adults alike. There is also a cafe serving drinks and snacks. Short and longer walks available depending on your fitness level. Places to sit and rest too before continuing your walk.
A. R.
A fantastic country park.
Many facilities such as parking, toilets, café and a water point for dogs.
Great views and good hills for walking/jogging/mountain biking.
M. T.
Visited with the wife and kids on what seemed to be a very busy day, certainly it was for the play park at least. Although my wife said she won't be back again as 'there's nothing here I felt that was unfair. I can remember when Rushcliffe country park was first opened and the trees, bushes etc were the same size as those you'll find here. I'm prepared to give it a chance and say that in the future when everything is fully established it will be lovely for a full day out. Until then I'm going to give it a miss as there are parks closer to us with established woodland etc. One thing to note: As the park sits on the crown of a hill it is open to the winds, on a still day it's fine but on a windy day it's not so nice
G. F.
Great, popular play park for kids, cafe is serving takeaway through a hatch (expect queues)
Good made paths for running and walking, designed for wildlife with some pleasing arty installations here and there. Parking recently expanded, occasionally have to wait at weekends.
B. E.
Great play park though a bit exposed to the elements due to location and lack of shade. Nice walks too. Haven't used the cafe.
C. W.
Wonderful play park for young ones with separate area for toddlers. Great choice of accessible routes to walk. My children love to find the wooden statues of animals and the views are beautiful!
F. C.
Always plenty of space for a walk lovely coffee shop and park
E. S.
Pretty and such views! Nicely laid out. Hilly for the run!
T. c.
Lovely views and run around with parkrun 5k timmed every Saturday 9am
S. B.
Nice long walks, play park and visitor centre coming in summer 2017.
N. V.
Great place to walk the dogs or take the kids. The views are lovely, plenty of walking options from short to long with plenty of hills if you want to get your heart going. The cafe is a great addition, although service can be a bit slow, very friendly and nice choices. Parking is limited at busy times, although this is being extended.
M. b. b.
Lovely place! Combine a nice quiet walk with a coffee to finish. 5*
L. T.
Such a beautiful park. Amazing views, brilliant walks. Brilliant children's play park, great cafe.
The people who look after it are amazing you can tell they really care about the place. My children love searching for the animal sculptures as well.
It's a good place to visit in any weather. The only down side is the car park is always rammed especially at a weekend or holiday.
D.
Absolutely amazing new it's had a tarting up
S. P.
Fantastic park, although parking is at a premium, not much space ☹️ they have lots of activities for children to play on and the cafe is clean and has a good range of food, very helpful staff. Lovely clean toilets too. Love it. Walk up the hill (which may look steep, but it's not, I'm 70 and I made it 😄), turn the corner and see a beautiful view. Good for all ages. 👍
T. W.
Love this place, great play area, spectacular views and super trails. Our grandson loved the tree trail . Good cafe, win, win.
J. B.
A lovely park for a walk but not enough rubbish bins
M. N.
Beautiful area that is still developing. Lots of plants/foliage have been placed but are currently still small. Wooden animal statues are around the trails and my toddler and his friends loved finding them and touching/exploring them.
The play park is fantastic and there is also a side for toddlers. A huge climbing apparatus and interesting equipment that we've not seen in other parks (and we visit a lot!) Car park is free with suggested donation of £1. On bank holidays it fills very quickly, and there are no marked spaces so not every parks considerately.
There is a small cafe with an outside kiosk to help with queues, food very nice and similiar price to what you would expect in other parks/areas.
There are short and long trails for all abilities. It is quite hilly though so may prove tricky for limited abilities. The paths are well paved and would be suitable for disability scooters and other such mobility aids. The play park is situated next to the cafe and car park so even elderly/those with limited mobility could enjoy watching their children play and have a nice time.
Lots of dog walkers, joggers and families visit here. Excited to see it develop as the greenery grows!
T. H. D.
It’s a great park to ride for mountain biking, although this great trail I went down on top of the hill had a big stream of water and thick mud in the middle which I don’t get enough speed to jump across of and because I feel like it’s about to crumble due to the lack of support the land was holding. It would be cool if there was like a wooden plank or fair ramp that could go with it which would make it more fun for mountain bikers
S. F.
A good 2 hr walk with many shorter routes on hard paths.
N. G.
Great walks round, lots of wildlife and plants. Nice kids playground. Cafe and toilet near car park and playground.
D. S.
I use this park regular to take the grandchildren, and my 2 dogs to, it has everything you need here, great well thought out park area for the children. Really nice cafe, and fantastic park to walk around, and enjoy the outdoors, I noticed yesterday they have wood carved animal with info about each one on them, dotted along the pathways. Really nice for the children to find them as we walked around with the dogs,
The park is left to nature so you see so many different wild plants. Birds insects, animals, well worth a visit. And the walks are done around the park as easy medium and hard. You pick which you want to do, and follow its colour on the posts as you go around,
D. H.
It's a lovely walk for dogs and family, a nice children's park and coffee/information shop. Great views on some paths. Dog mess a bit of a problem for those that don't care to clean up after their animals.
r. b.
Paths are great for walking. A couple of steep hills but walks are different lengths and well signed. A pleasant afternoon with a take away coffee at the end
l. c.
They have made this old colliery site into a lovely country park. Excellent pathways and a nice cafe with kids outdoor park. Ideal for dog walking or to have a few hours out with the children with a nice walk. It is quite hilly so may not be suitable for everyone.
S. H.
Great spot to walk with family and dogs. But beware cafe hatch is not serving food after 1pm, despite what it says on website. The could only offer some very greasy, chewy sausage rolls 🙄
S. F.
Great walks, wonderful views, a lovely cafe and a good play area for kids, I would definitely recommend a visit here
D. 2.
Great for cycling around and walks, play area for the kids, parking is limited tho to around 30 spaces currently.
E. M.
The park is fab with loads to do for both younger and older children. The cafe was clean and the coffee was good. Only thing was it was card only purchase yesterday which wasn't an issue to me but can imagine it may have been a bit of an issue to some. My family really enjoyed it! Best of all - the parking, park and walks are free!
J. L.
Had a short walk on paths as I am waiting for a knee replacement. Lovely views and wooden sculptures all the way round and was very peaceful.
D. P.
Very nice playground for the kids and a long outdoors walking route. Can be very windy most of the times. A small cafe available next to the playground and car parking (donation).
C. B.
Went to Gedling Country Park for the first time last Sunday, to have a walk with some friends and their family dog. The access is from Spring Lane which leads into a car park for numerous vehicles. We met at 10am and by this time the car park was almost at capacity, which is not surprising at the weekend. Adjacent to the car park was the cafe and toilet facilities. There are a number of circular pathways and some that connect across the circular routes which are well constructed and which keep your feet from getting muddy. They are also suitable for people in wheelchairs or people pushing prams/buggies etc. Away from the car park you can let your dog off the lead so they can explore the bushes, trees and grassed areas with other canine friends. In the centre of the park they have cleverly placed rows of solar panels to generate electricity which is an excellent idea for what was once a coal mine slag heap. The views from the top paths are breathtaking across the Trent valley from this elevated position. When you have walked your chosen route you can return to the cafe who serve a range of hot and cold drinks plus a variety of snacks/meals which you can eat inside or outside at the tables and chairs provided. When we left the site around midday there were a considerable number of cars waiting for spaces to become available. The queue was almost back to the entrance which I should imagine could be quite frustrating. I believe, from conversation with my friends, that there is an intention to enlarge the car park in the future. I would imagine that midweek the current car parking spaces are more than adequate. Would highly recommend this to others.
I. A.
So far I've only been in the area near to the carparks as the male voice choir which I am a member of is using that area for outdoor singing practice within the current covid rules. However, I will definitely be back to explore the rest of the park, the birdsong in the carpark on Wednesday evening was phenomenal.
J. G.
Amazing walking paths all across the park. The wide range of wild life is fascinating. The cafe doesn't have the best coffee that I've tasted but, something nice to warm you up. A great play area for the kids, be that young or old. It's, also, always great to see the council using renewable energy. Could be a good place for engineering students to go to learn about the old coal mines and new solar farm.
j. b.
It a really well layed out country park.
Cafe, children's play area, dog can come of the lead, walks for everyone, need a bigger car park other than that it great.
M. R.
Great place for a walk round with good views looking East across Nottingham. Good children's playground and facilities nearby for teas, coffees, ice-creams etc. Excellent on a warm day.
K. Y.
Lovely park, will be even lovelier in a few years when all the greenery is fully established. Nice variety of play equipment, good ice cream and decent coffee. Toilets are acceptably clean. Good variety of routes and difficulties for walking/running/cycling.
D. H.
My grandson and me had a wonderful time there
R. K.
One the most beautiful place in Nottingham
M. M.
Great place for a walk for people of all abilities. My dog absolutely loves it here, plenty to sniff. There's even a coffee shop, although it's a shame dogs aren't allowed inside, especially on blustery days. Large play area for kids, including a sandpit
t.
Me and the kids love this place. The play park is incredible, there's lots of paths to walk and the views are stunning. You can even grab a coffee and cake!
R. F.
We venture here most weekends with our 6 month old daughter, family & friends for a casual stroll. Great for all ages.
S. M.
Had a really nice day. A lovely place to visit
a. n.
I love this place for a good walk and to let my kids play on the park and im very happy they extended the carpark as it is a popular place and parking was sometimes hard but not any more.
L. S.
Great time had with three boisterous kids, park is fabulous. The kids loved the very long walk. Looks like more picnic benches are going in and are much needed. Lots more parking is needed as on a sunny day it gets very full. Maybe some more activity areas would be nice on intervals around the park, wooden balance beems for example.
B. W.
Great place to visit, good cafe, enjoyable kids play area, very safe for kids to play on. Parking is a first come first served basis and free. Going through a bit of a remodeling at the moment. Only one major road to it at the moment due to road works. Which are due to be completed within a year.
L. B.
Lovely walk here on Sunday afternoon
I. K.
Lovely Park, great for an after school treat for the Kids, pity the coffee shop closes so early though.
M. E.
Brilliant long walk with the kids. There are trails to follow. Great kids park. Cafe sells out quick though.
J. G.
Regenerated coal mine which is now a great place for a walk, cycle and fresh air. Very popular with dog walkers and families of all ages.
Excellent new play structure built 2017 and cafe which opened at end of 2017. Parking is free but can be a bit limited on very busy days.
G. W.
Today was a gorgeous day.
Social distancing was possible & thourely enjoyed the walk.
It just possesses country scenic views at our doorstep.
We loved our walk today as always. But without our beloved grandchildren!!! Respecting social distancing!!!!🙄🥴☕☕& missed our coffee at the end of the walk.🍀🍀🍀🍀💫🌻🍓🍒
C. S.
Lovely place to walk, run or bike. The place has a nice cafe, parking and a kids playground. All good facilities along with a great view over parts of Nottingham. One thing they could improve is the size of the car park, which although a good size, still isn't big enough for weekend trade meaning cars park everywhere!!
K. M.
Good parking and place to walk. The cafe has window service for drinks light snacks, unfortunately the Latte was not hot enough and cold before half way through the drink, that was with the insulated cup with lid on.
P. K.
Very nice place to go with kids for walk, and nice playground
D. P.
An inspiringly creatively designed country park skilfully using the terrain and landscape to its maximum. The development from a coal-mine slag tip to what it is today is remarkable. Well done to all involved. A beautiful space, be proud, enjoy!
A. K.
Lovely views but feel the reserve is still in its infancy. I had to park on the road outside. I would like to see some novel exercise apparatus on the trail around the park and maybe notice boards of what you can see at different vantage points of the beautiful panoramic views.
O. S.
It really is a gem to have this local to me, it is in some ways a victim of it's own success, as it can be super busy in the carpark and also the kids play area; once you've passed all that its fantastic views and fresh air.
N. E.
Not the must picturesque park but great views from the top of the steep hills if you're up for the climb! Children's play area is well maintained and has fun play park rides. Not used the cafe but understand it's supposed to be pretty good for a cuppa.
M. H.
Always enjoy walking the dog here. Great kids play area also. Great views of gedling. Some houses being built still though but the park is nice. Now with added cows in the fields. Various different walking routes colour coded for difficulty and also car parking is still free.
M. C.
Looks like a lovely place with great facilities.
The car park and café facilities are very good and modern.
And the park although sparse is a good area to let kids run amok!
There are some pretty stunning views especially from the top of the park!
Very highly recommended for a good half day out with the family.
There are also some really good biking tracks as well!
G. C.
Q for the food was terrible.. just open the cafe properly now
K. J.
A nice day out, an alright view but great for a quick walk
L. S.
Great Park with long paths to suit all walking or running abilities
Car park can get busy even with the extra car park added during peak times
Great little cafe post covid look forward to "normal" go in and order times ahead
A.
Well done Gedling Borough Council for creating this lovely park with a variety of good walks providing good views of the locality. Would have given five stars if they had provided more car parking and better space markings so spaces aren't wasted by careless parkers.
C. W.
Fantastic views of Gedling and the countryside. A new play area for children, and some good easy walking trails for the whole family and their dogs. Will be better when they have the building complete with facilities, and hopefully they improve the parking situation as it gets quite full on bank holidays.
T. P.
Wonderful activity playgrounds for ages toddler to preteen. Great selection of sides, swings, obstacles and other interesting items. Free, but you can help support it by getting something from the cafe on-site. Tea, coffee and pastries with indoor seating as well as window service. Coffee is not great, but is acceptable. Parking is difficult on busy days.
F. C.
Lovely place for a nice walk and it has a great park for the kids
k. m.
We did the walk suitable for pushchairs, it had hard paths and carvings on the way round. It was a little hilly but the veiws were lovely. Called at the cafe for lunch, the prices were reasonable and the food was ok. The staff friendly.
T. (.
Great park with lots to do ,wheelchair friendly mostly be aware of the cafe ,its outside only and when we were there no prices displayed, card payment only and no receipts, unclear conversation with staff member, 2 cans coke 2 sausage rolls £6,20.!!!!
E. D.
Really lovely find. The play park is brilliant for all ages. Did a short walk and found a bee garden and a butterfly spotting field. Finished off with a very delicious hot chocolate.
D. S.
Ok and big spaces to walk about and loadsa paths to get lost on.
Downside is parking which they are addressing (although we tend to walk from a far rather than drive)
And how can a cafe stop serving food by 3pm? I have never been yet and been able to purchase food (was 2:45pm on most recent visit). They have the monopoly of gedling park yet do not seem to grasp how much business they are losing...baffles me.
Overall great visit to keep kids entertained although does get really busy on the play park area on nice days so better of walking about park and getting muddy in the streams:)
V. C.
Fantastic park, lots for children to do. Dog walkers are welcome. Beautiful walks and scenery. Lovely cafe as well. Would definitely recommend a visit. Good car parking too.
S. N.
Lovely park good for kids and aduluts too
C. H.
We live close to hear and know all of its previous history, from coal mine to recycling centre to the country park it is today. It is in parts still a work in progress but for kids, adults and dogs it's a great safe place to visit. There are not too many places to see and hear skylarks.
S. S.
Great place to walk, run or walk the dog, and on a clear day, the views from the top of the hills are amazing. There is also a good children's play area with zip wire. Car parking is free but can often be found to be extremely busy during weekends and bank holidays. The onsite cafe serves a variety of hot and cold food and beverages whilst also providing water bowls for the pet's. Do however be prepared to be on the lookout for dog mess, as it's often evident that not every dog owner picks up after their pet. Overall, a great place to visit.
G. G.
Great place for fresh air and walking. Especially great for walking the dog, and a nice café with plenty of things to choose to eat and drink. The only thing that lets it down is the amount of people whingeing about having your dog there, if you want to take your kids out, take them to a play area not a newly opened walking park that is meant for walking and dogs, take your kids elsewhere and quit the whingeing! Especially as my dog, is a guide dog and he needs his free run to relax.
L. C.
Plenty of parking, though would advise getting there early. Handy drinks kiosk. Good kids play park. Various routes and fantastic views
S. S.
My boys love the park here it is brilliant. The new cafe is a great addition but does stop serving hot food mid afternoon. Bit windy and exposed but enjoy the views with a take out hot drink as you explore!
I. B.
Excellent for the children with plenty to entertain them.. unfortunately large, long queues at the window for food and drinks. Nevertheless a good afternoon out
T. E.
Lovely for a stroll round, nicely layed out with benches to take in the views. 2 nice park areas for children, cafe moderate priced, toilets, water available to top up water bottles and plenty of bowls for dogs to take a drink too, parking is free but they do ask for a donation of a £1
A. B.
Was beautiful this morning to see all the new viewing platforms, and due to clear skies find most of the points of interest on the horizon. A few groups didnt want to share the path 🤔 and a few dog messes left around but all in all another enjoyable visit 😊
R. P. W.
Excellent play facilities for young and big kids alike. Cafe serves great food choices and there are a range of well-signposted walks around the park to explore. Parking is sometimes limited though due to popularity
J. S.
Very exposed so always windy. Good cafe but increasing popularity means both cafe and car parking space is already at a premium. Walking out in the park requires stamina as most routes are on steep inclines with warnings for cyclists to dismount
j.
Good play area, lots of walking places, can be very hilly and rough floor
J. M.
First visit today, nicely laid out with 3 different walks, excellent play area and a smaller one for babies to toddlers, large cafe with seating inside and out, good water facilities for dogs with bowls, only negative thing is there isn't any shaded area to sit at Cafe no sun parasol at tables and chairs are metal not good on a hot day. Definitely keep going.
t.
Nice walk, options for different routes. Nice views, some good areas and wildlife. Lots of friendly folk walking about (and hounds too). Still needs a little work here and there to finish. Cafe a bit limited in options to cater for demand, parking needs increasing also.
B. P.
The car park is large with disabled spaces. Access to the cafe with wheelchairs and buggies is close and easy although is a bit bumpy. The cafe has beautiful views and the food is good. A variety of drinks and food is available including gluten free. There 3 different bicycle routes of varying difficulties around the park.
A. G.
The park is great as usual. Building a road through it is proving to be an unexpectedly engaging experience. I just wish some irresponsible dog owners would take the time to learn how to control their animals.
J. G.
Nice place for the family. Good park for all ages. Nice café and toilet facilities. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly footpath. You can also see for miles.
H. K.
Great playground, lovely park to walk or run around. Hilly terrain. Cafe and toilets. Extended car park is much better.
R. W.
Much too busy - car park and playground overused. Lovely views. A good choice if you dont have wellies...we saw lots of dog walkers too
J. B.
Really good play park for kids with a cafe for tea, coffee and ice cream. Lots of trails and paths put a few miles in the legs also
B. J.
I love this park and walk my dog here everyday. The wildlife never fails to delight, especially the buzzards as they hold aerial battles with the crows - fascinating. I have not yet tried the new visitors centre as we walk the dog early before it opens.
T. M.
Nice surroundings on varied trails. Very clean
O. J.
Laura in a good mood today and even bought a coffee - which was reasonably priced and very tasty. Bit cold up at the top of the pit so I'd recommend always wearing a big coat. Laura had a nice new fluffy number to keep the cold at bay and didn't look out of place with the other joules mums. Nice quality playpark but quite expansive, so have to keep a close eye on your children!
A. A. (.
Nice place to walk and take the kids to the play park. Very enjoyable and relaxing in the week, but it gets completely rammed at the weekend!
E. J.
Great country park, which is now about 5+ years old and the landscaping is slowly maturing. Kid play area, cafe and parking (suggested donation £1, which will be used for park upkeep). Popular with dog walkers, joggers, cyclists. Very clean on the main, but some dog poo left in placed by a few irresponsible dog walkers.
K. W.
Absolutely fantastic place for a lovely walk. Great scenery. Nice cafe and service too
B. &. R. L.
Nice walk in a newly developed leisure space. Play park and cafe are good, but expect queuing for parking and cafe. I. A few more years when everything has grown up/in the place will be even better.
D. H.
Good coffee, lovely walks with lots of routes many with good surfaces for buggies. Excellent park and lots of parking.
J. Z.
Very nice but seeing young children on the climbing and slide up to three levels looked dangerous for the children. Take care.
C. S.
This is my absolute favourite place to walk. The views are beautiful. Great for kids of all ages.
C. S.
A great place for dog walking and running.
There is a coffee shop. The only thing is the staff need to keep a better look out for customers. We had a fair wait before anyone served us.
Maybe put a bell on the counter for people to ring.
M. B.
Lovely day for a stroll through a well laid out park. Nice to know that the council has used our money wisely for a change. For the many instead of the few. The car park is far too small - they got that wrong, even after the extensions.
A. C.
Various walks, great views, nice scenery, very glad of the play area, toilets and baby change. Boy loves it
S. B.
A nice place to go for a walk but a lack of seats is a bit disappointing if you are not particularly fit or limping . the new cafe is a monstrous fair which is completely out of keeping with the park and they don't allow dogs in and considering the most of the Walkers how dogs it's a bit of a disappointment
C. C.
Had a lovely stroll. Playground is excellent though my grandson got so excited when he saw it, he ran towards it, skidded on the gravel and hurt himself. Not a good place for gravel. Cafe staff are friendly and scones are enormous! Would like a bit more choice in the cafe. Toilets are clean.
R. J.
Great place, however my dog always gets poorly after being there. Don't know why. Needles to say, we don't go anymore
S. H.
A lovely place to walk and ponder and don't forget to pay your optional £1 parking as they have done amazing things with our donations
P. n. S.
Very nice playground and perfectly reasonable cafe. The Country Park itself (old colliery) is pretty featureless as most of it still brownish scrub land and needs to mature. Top of Park does offer a vista of the surrounding Nottingham area. No Ruddington Park but give it time and a few more attractions.
J. D.
Of all the country parks around Nottingham this has to rate as one of the best. Rather hilly, but excellent coffee shop to rest up after all the uphill struggles. Sat out on the veranda area looking over the city enjoying the sun.. made for a fantastic afternoon. We were lucky with the weather.. Would have been less fun on a dull day.
N. J.
A nice park. a smaller area for the younger children to enjoy, and a large park for all ages. Lots to do for all ages of children, and a cafe for snack foods and hot and cold drinks. there are also toilets, baby changing facilities and a dog watering point to.
R. L.
Fantastic place to bring your children for some fresh air. Two playgrounds for various ages and lovely walks.
The only disappointment to the park is the poorly run cafe (nottingham city council this needs sorting) been there today and the staff close the doors at 3pm even though they are advertised to be open till 4pm. Although they still serve until 4pm through a hatch this is not great service, and shows that they are clock watchers. It could and should be so much better and I believe if this was a tendered privately run business it would be fantastic.
I'd give 5 stars otherwise!
K. H.
Lovely park with nice walks for all ages. Nice place to go for a hour or two if your looking to escape Nottingham for abit with free parkin
G. M.
Really nice for a good walk Nice scenary been there quite often Be better when cafe is open properly
P. G.
Great place to walk off your Sunday dinner. Fantastic place 10 /10. Great kids park.
G. F.
Food was amazing, had the local steak and ale pie, absolutely delicious. Awesome staff. Would highly recommend
G. M.
It's a nice place to go, flat ground, easy for buggy, a little rougher terrain as you approach the solar farm, decent park and also a cafe, it was a little crowded during pandemic
D. F.
This is a relatively new country park that has walks of varying difficulties. We have only done the pleasant, easy one as others do seem to be a bit on the hilly side for us. There is a very nice children's play area and cafe.
E. F.
Loved it, great car parks, various routes to walk and easy to get around with a pram. Nice cafe and park on site too.
S. C.
Lovely park with good walks for me and my little dog , Boris. The only problem is a minority of dog owners who have their dogs off leads but have no control over them. I walk my Shi Tzu all the way round on his lead but he is often accosted by by other dogs who are apparently unsupervised or un controlled which hampers our walk and spoils it somewhat.
K. B.
Great park lovely for all ages of children. Different routes around the park varying in length with good views. Nice little cafe just opened. Parking can be busy during weekends and school holidays.
S. L.
Lots of space, park is great
A. C.
Wonderful park for getting out and enjoying some fresh air and exercise. All on the doorstep for those in the East of Nottingham.
Lovely play park for the youngsters and some great paths to allow walks in all weathers. To top it all there is a great cafe serving food and drinks at reasonable prices so if you work up an appetite you have a place to stop off at
g. t.
A joy to visit, different walks means you see different scenery and spectacular views, lots of wildlife and greenery and very clean, lots of little off beat walks and seeing Lincoln cathedral in the distance is cracking, shop and facilities are spot on.
J. T.
Fantastic place. Nice wide tracks for cyclists and families alike. Could do with some public toilets.
Will look spectacular when nature takes control.
Though I was disappointed with dog owners. Dog mess on the footpaths and filled dog waste bags in bushes and trees. A few dogs off leads that seemed uncontrollable by their owners.
If we all respect the area it will be a place to be proud of for generations to come.
K. “. J.
Writing as a dog owner.
Great place to take them for a walk. Lots of different places for them to wander, so you don't always have to do the same route.
Usually isn't a bin when you need one, especially away from cafe and play area.
Talking of the cafe - lovely little cafe if it's warm, as you're only allowed outside with dogs. There is a hatch for us to use, but it takes a while to get attention. Not sure whether the hatch will be open during the colder months?
All in all a nice place to walk with dogs, but not to stop and enjoy if it's cold and wet.
C. W.
We went here as a second choice....decided it should have been first.
Four oldies and three children. We oldies managed to get a table at the cafe overlooking the play area...where we spent the whole afternoon. We had 99 ice creams which were lovely and later had a latte and a superb piece of victoria sponge. Lovely friendly staff in the cafe. There was a bit of an unpleasant whiff that we caught occasionally, which smelt of stagnant water but it didn't spoil our afternoon. The cafe was spotless...the smell wasn't coming from within. Would recommend to families with young children

Great medium sized park , nice views from the top just wish there was a few picnic tables or benches to sit on near the kids play area if you have as dog as no dogs allowed in the play area for obvious reasons and the few tables at cafe often full .
P. H.
Great open spaces with varied walks. Good cafe with disabled facilities and a park for the children. Dogs can be leash free in certain areas or leashed. Parking at weekends can difficult.
E. N.
This has really developed since we last visited. Lovely to have a cafe and toilets at the entrance, and the children's play area looked like a lot of fun.
A bit devoid of signage once you get past a certain point, but worth a visit.
C. C.
A lovely country park with a great children's play area. Unfortunately the new cafe was a real disappointment. A lot of money has been spent on this facility but it's obviously run by staff who don't really care about it. When we visited most of the tables were covered with piles of dirty crockery and the floor was also littered with debris. Given the state of the area on view to the public, we wouldn't consider eating there, as goodness only knows what the level of cleanliness in the kitchen would be like.
A great shame really. It probably just needs a good manager who cares about it.
E. J.
A great park, perfect for running, walking or cycling. Cows often graze in the summer. Has toilets and a cafe. At the bottom are 2 small ponds which my dogs like swimming in.
D. M.
New cafe building, large car park, 2 new fairly large playgrounds with lots to do for children, one playground being more for toddlers. Very nice views from top of the hills over Carlton and Gedling. Short, medium and long tracks for bike riding, running or walking. There is also a birds and wiildlife watching shed. Lots of wild blackberry bushes :)
I. “. W.
More tree is well needed in this windy area.wildlife flowers to save bees and other species.
N. R.
Great to see a place full of wildlife and stunning views of Notts and Lincolnshire landmarks. Shame about the new builds and new relief road spoiling it all...
A. M.
Dog friendly, a nice nature walk and they have some beautiful blue dragonflies around the water area.
P. S.
Great outdoor space for kids to play at and plenty of variety on the park. Great for walking and parking space area greatly increased so easier now to park. Cafe ok.
J. C.
Always love this place. Good tracks, nice hills. A cafe and toilets. Lots of wildlife and a parkrun on Saturday mornings. Good for the kids with the awesome playground. Great for dog walking, running or cycling.
B. N.
Fantastic open space to enjoy either a short or long walk. Interesting information stations throughout the Park. Coffee shop and toilet available.
H. L.
Lovely park, lots of parking available. The cafe at the front serves good food&drinks to carry whilst you walk. However it is good to note it is fairly hilly.
A. S.
My children love it here. The playground has something for each of them. The walks show different sides of the village. Will be even better when the park matures but such an improvement on what was there and free parking!
C. b.
Big car park, decent cafe and nice walks available..bit hilly for running 🏃♀️
D. W.
Great planned routes around the park. Good hills for the heart rate and the view of Gedling is marvelous. A little barren in the winter but still one of our favourite places to walk the dogs.
S. S.
Wonderful place to walk! Would recommend taking a picnic if you're planning stopping a while (the cafe there is quite expensive) but the toilets ate clean and the walk is lovely with no dog dirt and incredible views
D. G.
A place I had always wanted to visit. It's hard to believe it was once a pit and my Dad had worked there. I wonder what he would have made of it if he'd seen it?
E.
Great for a nice afternoon out with the family. Large park for the kids plenty of parking and cafe facilities. Does get very busy tho.
A. P.
Has wonderful walks with several paths to choose from. There is a coffee shop that sells drinks and snacks. Plenty of spaces in the Car Parks.
K. G.
My dogs love it here, it's a lovely walk
R. B.
Lovely relaxing park with great views. Cafe with slow service and playground for kids.
J. C.
Beautiful walks of varying distances to enjoy. Also there's a very reasonably priced cafe and very clean toilet facilities there too.
J. O.
Big parking. Nice not do big buffet with good cakes and cold drink such a beer. Coffee good in taste but average in look. Fully recommend. Nice view. One of the best places in Nottingham.
C. S.
Pathways are broad and easy to walk along. (No muddy grooves to negotiate). I enjoyed spotting the different birds that are in the park and look forward to seeing other wildlife as the park matures. I am not a dog owner myself but I think it could do with some more dog waste bins along the paths, as I spotted dog mess bags slung in trees!! A couple of public toilets would be useful.
D. D. C. C.
It is a fantastic park. Lovely play areas for the children, beautiful walks and views. Lovely clean cafe and rest rooms.
N. S.
Lovely walk, but carparks always full
So it puts us off going.
But the walk is lovely, great views.
L. A.
Lovely place to take kids and lovely dog walks theres also a little cafe which gets busy. Only problem was carpark spaces you might have to wait a little for one to come empty.
i. r.
Dry nice and clean cafe, reasonably priced and good selection of food and drinks. Toilets clean and great views. Ample parking and selection of walks from easy to moderate. Great kids play area too.
j. h.

P. M.
Was blustery day but great walk
R. C.
A brilliant example of a Country Park.
Good café, splendid views, a range of different walks, some of which are wheelchair accessible.
Excellent children's play facilities and a large car park.
Also on Local bus route.
S. W.
We love this place no matter the weather, dog walks, park and a lovely cafe
J. P.
Park lovely, cafe left a bad taste, not the food, just the attitude to be honest. Says on the website closes at 6,they say 4,but stop letting people in at 3.15,tidying chairs onto tables, locked the doors etc, so while this is happening, ur waiting to be served.... The staff shouted at each other. Just poor really. If that was my business and I was meant to be open til 4,id want them still selling and serving till 4? Park it's self is lovely. Good Carpark too x
t. w.
Great place to walk; take children to the park and a good cafe with friendly staff
l. c.
Great day coffee play time with grand children
M. I.
Nice for a walk and not a bad play area for the kids
W. R.
Very pleasant country park.
C. T.
Take an old disused colliery and turn it into a wonderful country park. Nature reclaimed the old spoil tips. Add some marked cycle/footpaths and amazing views and you have a great time. A small cafe provides snacks and drinks. Boards around the park give a brief description of this piece of Notts industrial history. Highly recommended!
S. M.
Local park, lovely to walk round
K. B.
Great adventure playground, lovely cafe and different paths depending on how long you want to walk for. The only reason it is 4 rather than 5 stars is the need for more parking spaces.
S. B.
Lovely country park, great selection of toys for all ages - just a shame that the little children's toys are in sand
R. W.
Love all of it! But wish the amenities was open to the public? Maybe if you did it so you had to pay using your visa/debitcard to open in use them, like at the coast?
K. S.
A nice walk and the planting is now much more established. Cafe is nice and sensably priced. Some good wildlife if you look in the right places.
D. E.
Great playground. Plenty of walks. Service at coffee shop slow.
M. B.

Wonderful country park on the edge of gedling, built on the reclaimed land from the gedling coal mine. There's a number of walks around the park of different lengths well sign posted with some great views down over the trent valley. Also now has a recently built children's park.
D. F.
This is a really lovely place for nature walks and just walks in general. It has 4 different walks and one of which is wheelchair friendly and all meet different abilities and fitness.

G. F.
Great Park, cafe could be better arranged for one way system, congested area along path, once served, you should be directed the opposite way instead of turning back into the queue, simple really
S. I.
Lovely place and great park for the kids
T. R.
Fab play park for kids of all ages accompanied by a cracking café and some wide open spaces. Topping this off, parking is paid by donation. So parking we paid £1. Very good. Very popular.

Bit boggy in places particularly if accessing from Lambley Lane car park. Facilities and play park are very good as are the views. Lack of parking space on Spring Lane carpark on Sunday morning. Also the site map is upside down on the website.
A. K.
