Grew up playing in Portland park (down quarry's ) from Mayfield street a group of us would spend most of the weekends/holidays down here as kids, 20+ years later thought we'd go down see if it's same, couldn't find the water steps but found the bmx track (humps n hollas ) although over grown still looks like kids are still having fun there, found the "paddling pool" was surprised the boat has gone, its the first time in all my life I've seen it with water in yes I'm coming up to 40 but walking round here took me straight back to being 10, great cafe good selection of food even full cooked dinners, beer bar bonus, great day out won't leave it so long next time PS, anyone know where all the old photo albums have disappeared to I remember looking through these as a kid and most of my family the Browns, and Hutchinson's off Mayfield street were in em,

Lovely park for a short walk, and with many different paths, you can come again and again and walk a different route each time. The Fat Rabbit is also worth a look, serving a tasty breakfast, a nice coffee & cake, or even a pint or two for your evening walks.

A wonderful and clean small park, one main loop path with hard surface with other tracks leading off. Great little cafe, nice place to bring the kids/dog or just have a nice walk after work. Park is on a hill so caution if you have difficulty mobility wise.

Lovely park for a dog walk. Access can be tricky because of the roads, one of which was badly potholed. Make sure to check when the centre is open as the cafe is worth a visit for a drink, snack or meal

Nice area suitable for small walks. Decent size car park. The cafe is good, great service. The only issue I have is the drive through the narrow road of the housing estate that you have to use to get there, it does put me off going.

The Park is perfect for taking your dog for a walk, Jack (my friends dog) loves taking a dip in the duck pond. Btw I've never seen a duck in there. Also make sure you visit the cafe, they are lovely and you always get a runny egg. Yum.

Grandson had his 6th birthday party. Over 30 kids entertained with a sports theme throughout. All had great fun, food was great and loads of it. Refreshments available for adults, lovely place to take the dog for a walk and cup of tea

Portland Park is a nice place to go for a walk. We went to the fat rabbit cafe that in the visitors center. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. We went for breakfast before wandering the park. All the food was freshly cooked to order and at a very reasonable price.

It was the first time i went to walk round the park and what a lovely suprise i had its a shame its not as well kept as the other parks because its a lovely quiet park set in woodland its as big as you want to make it with plenty of walks lots of wildlife to watch for . It has a lovely lake which is a shame its a bit run down. Ive been told therr is a park for the children but i didnt find that. There is a lovely dog friendly cafe. All in all a lovely way to spend the morning

Nice little nature reserve set out in a loop. Has a little cafe selling food at reasonable prices. Cafe is open late in the summer and has events on such as music and comedy. Also has a alcohol licence.

Just discovered this lovely place right on the doorstep. Wish I'd known it was here years ago. Needs more advertising and directions. Definitely will be visiting more. Great views, great walks, lovely little pub and cafe, everything you miss in a car ride.
