Reviews of Devonport Park
P. F.
Just been playing tennis with my boys for a couple of hours. Sat one of the benches having a drink and enjoying the peace. What a truly excellent park, please come and enjoy the space and pop to the great cafe also 😁
O.
Amazing park, with huge free space for picnics or to just sit for fresh air. The park has play space for children and climbing frames. Be sure to take nuts and birds seed for the squirrels and pigeons. There's also a small coffee for cold and hot drinks and snacks. The garden is lovely with benches to sit down, it's a brilliant space to take dogs for a walk, with gorgeous views
P. I.
A great walking place for dogs. The gardens a so beautiful & well kept. Don't forget to pop into the restaurant as they do great coffe.
D. V.
Haven't been here in years so much have changed from when I was a child.
Nice big cafe just lady's toilets needed sorting as only 1 toilet could be used.
A. w. r. a. c.
Great place a very historic park in Plymouth. Good place for the children to play and a reasonably priced cafe.
w.
The park is really good for my autistic son and my husbandxwho has mental health issues,I normally make cake and sandwiches and just go here, walking around here is relaxing, the coffee tastes good,I am a full time carer so it gives me a mental break too,we take a lot of photos of nature,we even get homework done,my son has development delay and behavior challenges, the park seems to have a calm influence on him, mental health and physical health are important to us.

Love this place. Can get a little busy especially at weekends and school holidays. Love taking my dog here, they also have a lot going on up here entertainment wise so nice to keep an eye out to see whats going on. Well looked after beautiful flowers too. A cafe serves food and drink very good value for money. A park for the children to play. Nice views of the sea at Torpoint end of the park. Only down fall is of your dog is not friendly with others it can be a little stressful as other dog owners just let there dogs off and don't keep under control so frustrating not all dog like other dogs.
Z. A.
Lovely morning walk. The autumn colours are beautiful. The park was clean and was getting ready for a children's activity.
c. S.
Such a beautiful park and the cafe Is incredible. There have been a few dog owners that do not respect the park but overall the park is looked after well and continously improving as time goes on , however the children's play park needs more monitoring as many time I have seen older teens sat in the parks playhouse smoking and drawing profanities all over the playhouse to the point my daughter has asked whay rhe words mean , some cctv needs to be Implemented to prevent this. I love this park and don't want it to end up covered in graffiti like most parks. All in all though a fantastic park. Picture posted is from my photography portfolio.

Lovely place to take the kids ,also has a very popular cafe with snacks and scrummy baked cakes
C. A.
Such a lovely park. Some great features like a sensory garden and allotment areas for public use, plus a couple of playgrounds for the kids, a tennis court and places to play football. It's beautiful even on a dreary day!
D. M.
A delightful park, full of history with some great views! Some nice areas to wonder around, kids really enjoyed the play park, and a useful cafe and toilets in a central location. Think we were be lucky in that there was live music in the bandstand which was an added bonus!
D. S.
Great park to take the kids. Playgrounds are great for toddlers up to bigger kids. Some lovely little gardens around the park and a really pretty sensory garden for the little ones. Absolutely recommended.
N. S.
Nice, big park with lots of options for enjoying in different ways. Play areas, sports pitches, fountains, manicured lawns and (my favourite) areas that felt wild and secluded.
There's also a great cafe in the centre. Delicious cake and a proper mug of tea.

I walk everywhere and Plymouth is my City....so its strange that I don't visit this park more. When I was a young man earning my living as an Engineer in Devonport dockyard I used to come to the park to eat my lunch and chill out. How it's changed! And for the better. I get the feeling it is now a community park with groups of girls with the babies, elderly folk mingling, sharing stories and groups playing boules. It is well kept, has bags of enclosed play areas for young children and the older more adventurous ones. Beautiful shrubs and sensory gardens are abundant and it has a real sense and buzz of calmness happiness and community spirit with the smart cafe seeming to be the hub ...post lockdown I think this park can and will play a major role in the healing process of the past years terrible and unforgettable pandemic. I didn't have time for a coffee, but I will be back!!
t. s.
I walk my dog twice a day in the park, may be it our first walk is around 5.15 am but at that time in the morn there are responsible dog walkers unlike the afternoon and early evening
L. H.
Good local park with play areas and a cafe with toilets. Popular with dog walkers.
r. l.
Great Park for dog lovers and great cafe which is dog friendly great views of the docks.
S. T.
I love Devonport Park! It has a lovely sense of community and everyone is so friendly. It has great areas for children to play and is very dog friendly too. There are 2 public tennis courts, sports pitches and plentiful benches for the not so energetic to sit and watch the world go by or take in the local views. There is a nice cafe that serves meals and snacks and is very good value for money. Just a lovely place to spend an hour or two or makes for the perfect place to finish a longer walk.
S. B.
Such a lovely place to visit with both your children and dogs there are also toilets there and a cafe which you can eat both inside or takeaway
K. H.
Wonderful Park full of lovely and varying open spaces great for picnics dog walking walking for leisure running there's a good activity section for children or young adults and in Park cafe if you look in the front garden and alongside the Rose Garden there is history to be found throughout this Park
P. L.
Excellent park with play areas for kiddies, memorial gardens, tennis courts, bowls and a cafe. Good views over the Hamoaze. Very peaceful.

Visited by accident on a walk, beautiful park in the heart of the city. Super cafe with friendly clientele and atmosphere.
P. C.
It's quite nice, but what gives it 5 stars is the soapbox children's theatre that is in one of the corners, appsolutly amazing
s.
Cafe is awesome and the park itself has stuff for the littles while mums can enjoy tea and a natter, all areas clean and well maintained.
B. B.
Lovely spacious park.great cafe in centre.

A lovely park with a vast array of trees and plants to see. Plenty of space for football. There’s a really great play park that’s suitable for all ages. There’s toilets and a cafe too. Plenty of places to park nearby if you’re coming by car, however, it’s also served well by public transport.
m. k.
Great park and walks around it. Nice cafe in the middle!

Real gem of a park in the central area of the city. Fantastic fertility bowling green tennis courts etc, and not forgetting beautiful play area for children. As you walk in the park you see the beautiful flowers in the garden. And it's all free. And there is a very nice cafe well worth a visit.👍👍👍
B. V.
Very traditional city park, gardens and lots of open space, well within reach of local bus routes, cafe/restaurant available
. super views towards the Tamar River..quiet Rose Garden. Play area for children, and lots of paths to walk your pet,
Hopefully the bandstand will have regular music events during the summer again . Good food the the restaurant , or a cuppa outside in the sun... ".use it, or you'll lose it " BB
S. S.
My local park just wish there was more swings for little ones to enjoy as 2 is not enough when you have so many toddlers wanting to play around and be on a swing. Very well kept and looked after. Staff are doing amazing job! Toilets and baby changing facilities are available also!
J. S.

M. C.
Lovely park, many interesting features, good cafe, excellent children's play area, real community feel.
R.
Lovely park. One of the few parks in Plymouth with a diversity of spaces for dogs, kids, groups, individuals, elderly and more. Also one of the few parks in Plymouth doing a good job at maintaining its wildlife. They have 2 beautiful wildflower meadows, a sensory garden, another garden and 2 kids parks as well as the community theatre; the soap box. There's also a nice convenient cafe right in the middle of the park with reasonable prices and public toilets. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
s. v.
Lovely public park. Well worth a walk and refreshment break at the cafe.
l. h. a. l. t. g.
Lovely park for all. Disabled (wheel chairs and pushchairs)access. Beautiful gardens. You can feed the cute little squirrels. Good space for dogs too. Live it
D. P.
Always a pleasure to visit Devonport Park. Very well maintained, big loop around the paths perfect for the kids to scooter along and a nicely equipped, but not huge, play area.
M. S.
Excellent. I am always so impressed at how Devonport Park has transformed itself from a less salubrious park where drunks and n'er do wells would make it dangerous to walk through at night, to the well kept and well populated magnificent park of today. Popular with walkers, runners, dog (and cat!) walkers. The pavilion cafe is lovely and well managed.
D. P.
Lovely place to bring the kids to play ball/ride bikes/play in the park. Unfortunately on this occasion the toilets were open but had been vandalized and the café was cash only but still worth the trip.
M. H.
Great place to walk your dog off or on the lead lots of other dogs and great pathways if you want to avoid grass. Lots of plants and flowers. Lots of dog bind good cafe and toilets
J. A. R.
This is my absolute favourite park. I believe this is Plymouth's hidden jewel in her crown. I love springtime most of all as this is when all of the trees are at their very best displaying their parade of beautiful blossom. When they are in full bloom after a long, cold, drab winter the beautiful colour is a very welcome sight. The troop of volunteers who keep the park looking amazingly good do a wonderful job. Lots of entertainment is held within the bandstand which is widely advertised and freely enjoyed by the many people who attend. There is also a theatre which is very well run with some lovely productions being put on for a nominal fee.
j. m.
Simply beautiful place to visit. Gardens look superb. Nice café. Flowers, plants & hanging baskets for a third of the price of garden centres. Play park, herbs and community grow projects. Sensory garden for children or peace seeking adults. Try it.
k. j.
A dog walkers paradise, loads of doggie friends for my little mate to play with, beautifully kept flower beds, a brilliant kids play park and one for the dinky kids too, the cafe is reasonable and good food served by nice staff.

Also known as the 'People's Park', this registered historic park, Grade II, is located inbetween the communities of Devonport, Stoke, Morice Town and Keyham. Devonport park was built roughly 150 years ago, and is the oldest formal public park in Plymouth. It has tennis courts, a café and lots of spaces for picnics etc. It is one of the most beautiful parks in Plymouth and often overlooked.
S. J. C.
What can I say, well, it's a wonderful park
