Reviews of Hanley Park
H. A.
Beautiful public park. Good for walk and family time. Cafe and toilets available. Beautiful lake view inside. Lots of play sides for children of all age.❤️
T. J.
Hanley Park is one of the city's heritage parks. It is close to both the City Centre and the railway station. Its facilities include the restored Pavillion Cafe; a restored Boathouse; an all weather, floodlit sports zone for cricket, football, basketball, hockey and tennis; restored bandstand; crown green bowling green; fishing; lake and fountains; sensory play area; children's play zone; and public art sculptures.
The park has undergone a multi-million pound restoration following a successful bid for £4.5 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund in 2015 to restore the park’s historic features and attract more park users of all ages. The 60-acre park, which opened in 1897, has had its bandstand restored, the main pavilion reinstated as a café and its boathouse brought back to life along with a whole raft of other improvements. In October 2020, the park was awarded Green Flag status and recognised nationally as a quality green public space by the charity Keep Britain Tidy.
The Pavilion Cafe
The Pavilion Cafe is open all year round, 7 days a week and the menu features local produce, traditional classics, grab-and-go snacks, freshly prepared meals, Cheshire Farm ice cream, afternoon tea and quality hot and cold beverages throughout the day.
Winter opening times Monday to Sunday 10.00am until 3pm,
Summer opening times Monday to Friday 10.00am until 4.00pm, Saturday 8.30am – 5pm, Sunday 10am – 5pm
The Pavillion Cafe offers seating for 80 diners inside and space for a further 50 on the outdoor veranda. The cafe has disabled access and a Changing Places well equipped toilet.
Meeting, Conference & Wedding Facilities
The Boathouse is available for hire all year round and is ideal for meetings/conferences of up to 50 attendees and social events for up to 100 guests. It is also the ideal location for an intimate champagne & afternoon tea wedding reception.
The Pavilion consists of the East & West Annexe Rooms, ideal for private hire, business meetings and somewhere for the local community to meet in small groups of up to 15 people. The Pavilion is also available for hire in the evenings for hosting events, making the most of the stunning views over the park and surrounding area.
Full Hospitality Brochure is available or refreshments can be purchased from the café.
Hanley Park Sensory Play Area
The popular sensory play area includes a range of play equipment that stimulates a child's senses. The first fully accessible play area of its type in the City, assists able-bodied and children with disabilities to play without limitation.
Hanley Park Sports Zone
The sports zone in Hanley Park opened in 2006, and includes cricket wickets and nets; four tennis courts; a synthetic pitch and hard surfaced, multi-use games area; and a fenced court for basketball, football and other sports.
Amenities at the park include: all weather, floodlit sport court; cricket wickets; bandstand; bowling green; fishing; lake and fountains.

I like to walk around Hanley Park and it's lovely to see more people around now that they have done up the main cafe. Its well looked after and has pretty flower beds, fountains, bandstand, views and three good children's parks...to cover all ages. In summer there's also an ice cream van on site.
S. A.
Comfortable place in the city during the day for relaxation.
Note:Read the municipality info. in the different areas at the Park
P. B.
I really like this park. So much open space, water, fountains, grass, cafe etc etc
I. L. S.
Beautiful park, clean with nice paths also tennis court inside, and small lake, perfect place for jogging
s. r.
Nice area to walk around and see the wildlife. Good large play areas for the children to play.
M. C.
It was great. Not been for a long long time. The park is beautiful now. Nice place for people to visit and enjoy.
B. A.
Recently renovated with a restaurant, toilets fixed, many different sites for picnics pathways for long and short walk, fountains have been fixed, play area has been washed and cleaned and many more. One need to be there to see the beauty. Named the best green Park
A. A.
Fantastic place with friendly animals grate for dates or for siting with a book. But please don't forget to put your litter in the bin. I had to help a squirrel out of a plastic bag while there.
T. X.
I've started coming here to chill out with my friends whilst were on break from university! It's a lovely park and has great views. The only downside is, there's not a single toilet in sight after 4pm. The council cutting funding was a bad idea. Please invest in toilet facilities 🙏
G. W.
They have done a great job in restoring the park. Very pleasant to walk around. Good play area's for the children. The pavilion cafe well worth a try.
D. G.
Hanley park is a fabulous park from walking the dog or just enjoying the scenery.
Beautiful grounds , playgrounds for children of all ages .
The wildlife is a sight to behold on the lake...
& whilst there you can take a rest, food & drinks etc... at the cafe restaurant on site.
Toilet facilities acsebile...
Please note however council has since put a pay and display on the grounds .
So park elsewhere or make sure you have change.
W. M.
Beautifully renovated garden's and cafe. 3 great play areas for children of all ages and abilities. Big park and lake. Clean and tidy. *Please be aware parking charges now in place on the car park!
B. H.
Much improved park in recent years; one of our favourite places to visit with our little girl! Brilliant on-site cafe with superb facilities. I also love doing the Parkrun on a Saturday morning too!
S. D.
Came for pride! Cute but smaller than expected - most town parks are larger- but its adorable and a nice walk. Could have done with more waste management staff on such a busy day though.
R. E.
I had a nice little stroll around got distracted by little ducklings and spent 45 minutes watching them eat.
z.
Great park . Well mentained and clean . Nice looking lake and the river crossing the park is a nice add on . Overall a great place to revisit . 5+/5 !
b.
really cute park, any time of the year. try and find the secret garden!! great for kids, has play areas and lots of grass spaces. also a basket ball hoop and everything.
P. D.
Huge place, sensory play areas great climbing equipment. Canal and beautiful lake worth a trip, car parking good £1.50 for 3 hours.
L. L.
Lovely gardens, nice parkrun but the cafe was very disappointing. Luckily for us, we know the area and found a nice cafe in town but very sad for visiting park runners who would have to do without breakfast 👎🏼
G. C.
A well kept, beautiful site overall. Whether feeding waterfowl at pondside, handfeeding the pigeons, or to take part in sports like shooting a three pointer on the basketball courts, there's plenty to see and do. And the most important, to relax in and around nature in what is otherwise a built-up urban area. It's great also for photographers (amateur and professional) to both practice their skills and perhaps garner a little trade
S. F.
The money spent revamping the park is well spent. It now looks really good and was busy in the sun. The refurbished cafe is a credit. That was busy but having only just opened there were a few problems but overall the place looks a whole lot better. Well worth a visit with plenty of play areas for children.
N. G.
I haven't been here since 2012 it's still great to be back again and spend time with family.
L. B.
This was our first time visiting Hanley Park for years, what they have done to bring it back to the original place is just amazing, the pavilion is great, decent cup of coffee, and the flower beds are something to behold, lots of families just haveing a walk around, wonderful to see.
M. W.
I love taking photographs here. There's so much beauty. I cannot wait for it to be finished to see what it looks like. Its already stunning. Loads of things you can do here. Nice big tennis, basketball, football and cricket court. Never seen so many play areas in one park. Something for everyone.
B. C.
I really love the car park here as I'm disabled so I get to enjoy the view and feel which is not available to me in most parks
K. J.
Lots of open space, beautiful gardens, play parks for the kids, and a lovely cafe in the middle.
S. W.
Lovely place to walk around and in the pavilion there is a cafe which does hot and cold food and drink for take out only at present time.
T. K.
I love Hanley Park. It's so beautiful and the kids area is brilliant. Always clean and well maintained.
The only 2 things that drop it down in my estimation are 1. The public toilets are very old and really need replacing but they are rarely open anyway which does make me annoyed especially when I'm out with the kids and 2. They will soon be charging for parking. The parking metre has been installed for a few weeks so I'm assuming it will be in use in the New Year .
Β. Φ.
Such a beautiful place in the heart of Hanley. 3 playgrounds and lots of space for games and picnic.
H.
Looking good. The buildings are interesting. Nice little bridge spanning the canal. Playgrounds in good shape. Great looking cafe building with lovely views of bandstand and gardens. Pity the variety of food and slow service let it down, despite the hard work of the few staff. Still definitely worth visiting for the cafe location though. Large, impressive flower beds. Best park in the potteries? Probably.
l. g.
Well worth a visit, lots of area's to explore and great play area's for the kids
C. L.
Back for park run for the first time in about 18 months and the park was absolutely beautiful and in full bloom - such a pleasure to spend time here.
N. S.
This park, whilst feeling dated in some of the play areas, still has over 3 main play areas, one with some things just pleasantly more unusual. The grounds are nice and drop down over a canal and once again to lake.
Cafe in the middle is in a nice period building and off to the other side there are sports areas for the local community to use.
K. D.
Lovely park, with lots of open spaces and interesting areas for children of all different ages. Quite big so a fair walk to get around the whole park, with a lovely lake in the middle. A few pieces of equipment in the palypark are in need of some tlc and a few are out of order.
S. B.
Amazing park seen so many around other cities but Hanley park is truly a gem
J.
Quite busy on the day I went due to the weather, clean and tidy, lovely looking gardens
A. E.
Lovely park, something of a misnomer as it is nearer Stoke and Shelton.
Plenty for all ages.
a. h.
Stopped off for a coffee on our cycle ride .
Five stars for the new Cafe.
J. K.
The park has plenty of Fields ideal picnic and the play are separated into zones so climbing, swings and young zones for toddlers
A. R.
Lovely park to visit and plenty of play area's for the kids
s. f.
Don't visit the park very often. We enjoyed the walk weather was good. Park was very tidy and well maintained. Will visit again.
R. P. 2.
A well kept, clean beautiful park with lots to do for kids.
We are only here for a short while because our youngest is in royal stoke hospital so we thought we would take our other son out for the day.
Downside was the amount of drug activity happening on a day where there the park was pretty full with family. Just by observing it was clear I saw 4 or 5 drug deals go down in the park..... this is why I'm only giving it 3 stars
P. J. B.
Beautiful and serene park with a hidden gem of a wonderful cafe. Cappuccinos, lovely sandwiches hot or cold and great ice-cream
v. d.
The event was 6 towns carnival there was lots to see and the most amazing food .....and music for all ...and plenty of play areas for the kids x
A. O.
Nice place for a walk, and now the pavilion has been refurbished you can now get refreshments in the new cafe.
S. W.
Quite a large park to spend an evening in, family friendly and dedicated play areas for children and teenagers, alike. Neatly maintained!
A. M.
Multiple parks to allow kids to play on a variety of things, open areas for nice walks and field sports and when it's is open the cafe is a nice little rest stop for the family. New addition of the pay to park has now caused nightmare for parking. It was full mostly before this and you would sometimes need to park on the road to the park, but now people park on the street first before it fills. Causing a one lane road, there are house opposite the entrance and on the street to the park so this is causes a lot of congestion just getting down there. Don't be surprised if you get a bump or scratch.
M. M.
Great place for walk and view. Large area for family and friend sitting.
S. T.
Hanley Park was one of the most happening place near our Staffordshire university area, Stoke on Trent city. I used to hangout with my mates during the evening time for playing cricket & jog in the morning. It's a nice place & undoubtedly we got lot of memories attached with this park.
I. C.
Nice little park to walk round and relax for a while.Couldnt find any open toilets though.
A. H. (. M.
Lovely park, not so sure I would go around there after dark
A. T.
Took my dog for a walk here, first time I've been in a few years, it's a really nice place to go, its been re vamped, the gardens were lovely, the Pavilion had opened serving snacks, drinks and ice cream. Was a nice surprise to see how much had been done
C. B.
Free car park , big lake, beautiful plants/gardens. Lots of walking and a canal running through the middle. Kids play areas and a visiting ice cream van. Plus the occasional kids train. What more do you need?
K. H.
Brilliant day for the platinum jubilee. Kids had a great time and grown ups too xx
M. M.
Great park. Can't wait to see it finished as there is a lot of working going on at the moment. It will be amazing once it's finished. Lots of parks for kiddies or different age groups. A lovely big lake with ducks and swans. A great place to walk the dog or have a picnic
T. P.
Beautiful gardens had totally to ourselves as dank and rainy. Pavilion good for coffee and cakes. Would be wonderful in fab weather - what a great resource for the community
J. M.
Looking pretty in Hanley Park at the moment with the babies all around, watch those geese though!
I.
Beautiful public park.
I. N.
Great park and facilties. Now open newly refurbished cafe.
W. F.
My granddaughter loves this park. It has 4 different play areas for children of all ages and lots more to see around. Ponds, waterfall, water features and some lovely buildings.
A. T.
Lovely open park to visit in Hanley. They have done the park buildings up nicely.
J. C.
Beautiful, big, park with tennis, cricket and basketball courts and a huge lake.
T. B.
Very nice venue hidden away in park. Very clean. Hopefully in summer months it will get more customers.
A. S.
It's a wonderful place. quiet nice to walk around and it as 3 playgrounds
D. J.
Great park but the public toilets close really early unfortunately
D. W.
I think that this place deserves 5 stars because of the way that it has reinvented itself over the last few years. It used to be quite an eyesore but now is a pleasure to walk through, go on the playground or visit the pavilion Cafe. Well worth a look! Gardens are also great and well looked after
A. K.
Nice Park good for a walk or picnic has a small shop too
J. W.
Well maintained by park staff and propery financed to make this a lovely place to spend time in; away from the grime of the city itself. Credit to Stoke On Trent City Council for realising the importance of such places....
J. S.
Brilliant children's play areas , lake walk excellent pavilion
S. H.
Wow! Haven't been for some years. Amazing! Playgrounds most impressive. The lake and boathouse have been cleaned up. The Pavilion with a very smart cafe is most impressive. It's really lovely to see the Band Stand still there and the gardens are absolutely SPLENDID! Very well done to all concerned 👏🏼. I'll be visiting again soon.
E. S. M.
Very nice park esp. For kids
L. A.
Hanley Park is beautiful, the renovations happening at the moment will restore it to its former glory. There are stunning gardens, a bandstand with live music and the boathouse and pavilion coming soon.
M. C.
Various play areas for different age groups. The FREE PARKING is NO MORE at this park, which will make less people coming to access this park. Nice very big park in SoT
A. K.
Beautiful place, plenty to do for kids. 3 nice playgrounds.
S. M.
Lovely park for families and dogs 🐕. Really love the cafe aswell. A lovely afternoon out.
a. S.
Beautiful park . Highly recommended for weekend outing and dog walk. There is kids play area too
T.
Great park, shame the greedy council wants you to pay for access to our green spaces.
K. W.
Very nice park. Good play area. Formal gardens are lovely but for wheelchairs /pushchairs, you need to find the paths round the sides as there are many steps. Coffee shop is open. May not be the place to visit in the evening but during the day it's fine.
D. B.
Great park for the kids, went on a really sunny day and had lots of fun. Even a wee ice cream van was there. Must visit for all.
K. M.
Love Hanley park. Visit regular for walking relaxing. Never experienced any adverse behaviour. they do seem to keep the gardens, paths tidy. Good access to the canal walks. The only disappointment I've had is that they haven't preserved the beautiful calving of the birds n wildlife down by the old bowling green. I'm glad I have pictures of it in its glory. It's beautiful and must have taken some long hard hours of work. Shame. But happy to visit, and visit again
P. T.
Such a beautiful and peaceful place. Will definitely visit again soon
D. B.
Lovely place right near the town centre. Lots for the kids to do.
P. A.
Lovely place to walk around, seems very good for the students at the college
D. B.
Brilliant park and cafe. Just needs some litter bins to help keep it tidy
K. W.
A really excellent park for little ones with 3 play areas, each geared towards different age groups. The park itself is a good size for an easy stroll around. There's a pavillion café, a small lake with fountains and even a bandstand.
K. S.
Plenty of space and activities for all ages.
Beautiful vista from the cafe looking out over the bandstand, lake and Stoke.
Multiple play areas giving children different sensory and physical activities.
And we were lucky to snare the local ice cream van for a sneaky Mr Whippy 😃
S. H.
Large area with plenty for kids to see and do 👌
D. F.
Very nice apart from the large puddle I had to paddle through to get into the park. It's nice to see the Pavilion open for hot and cold food and drinks.
A. T.
There's a place in the park to suit whatever you need. There's plenty of peaceful space, a children's play area and a tea room when you need refreshment.
P. H.
Beautiful park, the cafe on site is very slow, visited this morning and the staff were working very hard to do the right thing
C. C.
1st visit today and really had a good day. Well worth a visit.
A.
Nice park to spend some quality time with family.
I. L. S.
Absolutley astonishing park ! Open air wild life birds. WATCH OUT for them and do not get close and do not hit any of them. They are protected birds and you will get into trouble with lawenforcments
D. D.
Such a lovely big park. Fabulous lake with a working fountain. Found it very clean and well kept. A canal runs through it too. Great children's play area and there are tennis and cricket courts. Lots of birds and squirrels to see. Think there's a cafe but it wasn't open when we visited. Overall a very nice place to spend a few hours.
L. B.
Fantastic free park! Highly recommended 😁
P. V.
Good variety of facilities: sports pitches, kids play area, cafe etc.
S. P.
Hanley park is beautifully maintained ,garden areas and the pavilion cafe were well staffed ,and staff who were helping and working gor Pride event were amazing. Its been a few years since i last went but will definitely be going back.
S. W.
Hanley park is massive with lots of facilities available including the new cafe in the center.
The park seems to be fairly well maintained and is a great experience to walk around when the weather is warm.
There's plenty of seating around and great views from the band area to the lake down below with the fountains.
There's also plenty of grass to set down a picnic in if you don't want to use the cafe, plenty of beautiful flowers in the band area, and a playground for the kids.
Overall, a great place to go and chill or play sports during the daytime.
E. C.
Beautiful park however i felt i was being watched all the time with them cameras...not being able to let my dog off the lead was also not great.
M. H.
Nice clean park with lots of play equipment
P. W.

It's been a while , nice walk around and popped to pavilion for a snack
H. K.
What a great space to have in the city. Spacious for all. Wheelchair/ buggy friendly. Beautiful, large pond & the canal goes straight through. Lots of different walks around the park. Loads of room for children/digs to run around.
G. M.
One of the best park in Stoke on Trent area. Very specious
a. T.
Clean and peaceful atmosphere.
Range of play equipment for children, which are well fenced.
Lots of benches for resting or basking in the sun.
Spacious grounds also have a big multi purpose court for tennis, basketball, football, volley ball, netball..
Lots of trees and ducks to feed.
Quite nice landscaping, proper roads/paths for running, cycling or just taking a stroll. Suitable for wheelchair and pushchair.
A beautiful and well kept park for all ages to enjoy.
X. (.
rebuild and reopen the canals,,, get volteers like other places and help rebuild the knedal canal,.. we need this for money for the country and people to help make new cafes tolliets and other businesses that are related to narrow boating in uk,,, since the canals were taken people can not to places aand if all the canals,, are linked then new baoting across uk can be made and new system will be made also the eaters cool the earth,,, canals are good for the enviroment and nature needs them ... and so do people with homes,, and other reasons like opening pubs and cafes near canals ,, it be amazing ... think of the things people could bring to the tourism of uk,,
J. B.
A lovely park but it seems to be lacking an extra toilet facility. I know it costs money to have these in but it could benefit from an extra one. And the ones they have could be much better. Felt like I needed to wipe my feet when I left
k. d. o.
One of best parks I've been in england and trust me I've been to quiet a few
S. M.
Visited twice. My kid likes the play area. The road near to the lake is very dirty.
L. D.
I regularly visit the park just to go for a walk, and there's always stuff going on to just sit and watch: wildlife, scenery, sports activities and the people on the canal. Took my parents for a wander round for their first time in the park, they loved it and thought it was much better than Crewe's Queens Park. ;P
S. T.
Nice park and the new pavilion Cafe serves hot drinks and food currently only for take away
J. W.
Its being renovated at the moment big nice park with lots of wildlife and walks it is in 2 parts split by a road. Dont go before 10:30 on a Saturday as they have park runs and parking is imposable
S. A.
Beautiful location, and good food. They should have done this years ago..
M. H.
Beautiful park. No working toilets when we visited. Had to leave sooner than intended because of that
K. G.
Really nice to walk and go for children to play football and tablet tennis really nice park near me home I always go to seat in there and relax my mind...
J. F. C.
Huge playground for all ages and a big park area for nice walks, definitely worth to visit and spend a few hours there. Probably better without pushchair especially if you have another child to run after constantly
E. R.
Lots of places to sit and chat with friends when I went, really comfy and nice place to be in general. We fed the geese oats and peas and they were trying to follow us to the football/basketball courts!
R. B.
A brilliant park with 3 play areas to inspire different ages. Enjoy a walk round the lake or play basketball/ football on the pitches. You can buy a hot drink plus snack but only problem is, the public toilets are locked.
S. G.
Lovely for peace and quiet and a nice cafe
T. H.
Just tried the cafe in the park out for the first time, really nicely kitted out, a little gem the middle of the park 😊 daughter had oatcakes, lovely done with lots of cheese. Really lovely lady serving, will definitely use again. A great treat if gone to the park with your children then go for dinner! It's open 10-3
J. C.
My Husband and I have been a few times with our 2 year old Grandson and it's a joy to go there. It bought back so many childhood memories and it's wonderful to see how much money has been spent to restore it to it's former glory. Absolutely love going there.
M. S.
Nice cafe, chilled out place to stop and relax
E. C.
It was amazing, my little one had a lot of fun
N. C.
Amazing park. We visited from Wales during our stay and all the children in the family enjoyed it here aged from 3-10 , lake and toilets onsite too which is a big bonus. Would love to visit again.
A. J.
Nice open landscape with some herbaceous boarders.
T. K.
Had a lovely walk around Hanley park today, nice for the family and even to walk your pets around.
A. S.
I've read that there's no public toilet so for some that's a star less and it indeed is a cause for improvement.
However, on the flip side this place has some really nice sports facilities - basketball court, five a side football pitch, lawn tennis, table tennis and three playing grounds for the kids.
There's also a couple of ponds walk over bridges to admire and take in the views.
It's a park worth visiting.
N. B.
With children aged 5 & 7 on board, this was a perfect stop on the Caldon canal on a grey day. The sensory playground adds an extra dimension.
A. H.
Visited mid afternoon on a nice day and it was lovely. Nice lake with plenty of waterfowl, great sports courts that were being used and three seperate childrens play areas of decent sizes. Recent renovations have been completed to a high standard..recommended.
V. G.
It is pleasing to see this beautiful park has been restored. Paths and all areas are nice and clean. Gardens are looking beautiful too.
Only criticism is that there could bexa shortage of parking during summer.
However if you have a bike you could bije or simply walk there via the local canal.
S. M.
Lovely. Park. Cafe a bit pricey though
S. B.
Good food and drinks available, comfortable surroundings

Lovely park, full of wildlife. I love the nature trail there with bird boxes and a miniature table for people to put food for the squirels.
P. S.
Beautiful area love day out
A. H.
Love hanley park ❤ the council are doing a fantastic job with this place, it is the embodiment that stoke can be something more and represents its future. Just want to thank all the council workers for their gardening, grass cutting and friendliness. I love the cafe and ever since its opened its been a great place to unqind with friends and for me once I've exercised I always grab a flat white. Great talkative staff too.
A. B.
A lovely Victorian park, with three great play areas for children across a range of ages, beautiful flower beds, a lake with ducks, a a newly refurbished pavilion cafe and free parking. Take the bikes on a nice day and you could easily spend half a day there with young children.
J. H.
Well what an excellent place to take the family. They have done a fantastic job . 2 children parks . A refurbished building with a cafe . A canal that runs through the park. Gardens are beautiful.
Concerns -awkward to cycle, push a pushchair with the gravel on. Definitely worth a visit .
S. D.
Very nice food, excellent service. Could do with expanding the menu a tad, more fish courses not just tempura
D. R.
Great Park in every way!
Visiting The area and the Hotel said. If your looking for Gardens then be sure to take in “Hanley Park”
Certainly well worth a visit with partner friends and family
J. G.
Went for the open day. Nice and clean. Gardens neat and tidy. Nothing bad to say apart from limited parking.
I. I.
Nice park, there were animals wandering around, which was so cute :)
D. B.
Lovely since its regeneration feels like a family safe environment which some parks lack In this day and age. The pavilion cafe still open for take out only during lockdown with plenty of seating around the park to enjoy a takeout coffe.
N. L.
Beautiful park. Had a lovely walk around the park, plenty of open space for the kids to run about and two play areas. The refurbished pavilion is beautifully done and has a great range of snacks and drinks.
P. Z.
Hi have not been for a long time has had a face lift was very impressed and the great grand kids love it will go again you need to visit your self's notall finished yet but they are making a great job well done
R. K.
Best place to go with your loved ones..!!
Always enjoy it there !!
R. J.
Great place to walk around. The parks need a bit of work. Not sure if it's the heat but the rubber floor is suffering. Kids enjoyed themselves. Great place to take a football or just chill by the lake.
M. C.
Nice place walk in the sun with pets and friends
P. S.
We'd not been before, but the park is a lovely open space to walk around. The children's playground looked good too; only wish I was younger so could go on the zip wire!
We enjoyed the walk along part of the canal too!
There were works going on which looked like they were renovating some buildings; should look great once completed.
J. C.
I have been meaning to visit Hanley Park for some time now, as it has been on my dog walking wishlist for quite some time, having visited many different country parks and wildlife places, I can say that it was a pleasant change from the normal muddy pathways that I am used to. They also have a fantastic park area for the children to play, which probably means that we will be returning in the not to distant future with the kids. It was a nice short walk all the way round, even if it is raining and you get soaked as much as we did. A brilliant place with something for all ages, five stars.
J. T.
Currently undergoing major improvement works so not at its best. But still provides tennis courts and other enclosed sports areas. Great play area. Nice lake. And a good challenging weekly park run on Saturdays
B. B.
This is a good park with plenty of places for kids to play. There are the normal playground things plus adventure things like a zip line. There are a couple of lakes. A small one and a big one. They are still in the process of refurbishing the whole park so some parts are blocked off. There are a lot of paths to walk along and quieter areas to sit.
M. H.
Son loves Hanley Park, he’s growing up, time is running fast, too. This is living…
K. K.
Nice big park with lots of place for kids to play with 3 different areas for kids of all ages.
For me it was nice because of the gardens and all the flowers which smelled great because I am blind and its nice to walk through there and to have all these nice smells.
There is a bowls and cricket area, tennis courts, basketball court, football area.
There's also a pond to feed the ducks too.
The canal runs through the middle of the park deciding the park into two.
Lots of wildlife around to take kids on bug Hunts etc and they also do a lot of activities for kids in the park too.
Oppertunities to volunteer to help maintain the park too.
S. T.
Took a family walk around Hanley Park this afternoon, haven’t been before due to not being local. Met family at a nearby pub and thought an after dinner stroll would be nice.
Everyone commented on how nice the park was. There was lots of ducks, swans and geese on the paths and the water providing lots of interest for the kids.
Looks like there is some renovation work in progress. Well maintained park.
Would visit again.
S. A.
Early morning - Nice and peaceful
A. J.
Lovely place but lack of cleanliness.... Some of the kids play areas need refurbishment. Poor council involvement.....
J. A.
It is probably the most beautiful park in the city. The playground area is fabulous for the children and we found lots of little areas hidden with a stream and it was just beautiful. The one main issue with this park is the people in it. I would NEVER go on my own with the kids, I was approached by a male and only felt safe when I said I'm going back to my friend. You get leered at a lot. It just needs to be monitored. The safety aspect really does stop people going. It's a shame!!
G. C.
Really enjoyable, love and walk around the park with my dogs. Very peaceful early morning. It's looking beautiful after all the gardens have been done, hard work almost done very much appreciated.
V. M.
There are public toilets also the park is so huge it caters for all sizes iys a pure joy to have, oh and its also tidy abd clean a the time
A. B.
If you are visiting Stoke then make sure you get to the park.
You will not regret your time spent.
While the surrounding houses are a little past their prime the park is a vibrant and busy recreation hub for families and students. Lots has been invested into this and it really shows.
A true jewel in the crown of a truly historic city on a journey of reinvention and rejuvenation.
S. A.
In my humble opinion it's the best park . The kids enjoy their time there all the day . They don't get tired or bored. I like its lakes and fountain as well the river and the bridges. It's peaceful there.
a. r.
Lovely Park lots of things to do beautiful walk around the canal lovely play area and a nice atmosphere
Y. M.
It's a lovely place to take children. Several play park areas for children to ay in and open spaces to run around. Also a big lake with lots of ducks and geese to feed and free tennis courts and basketball nets. You just need to take rackets and balls along.
M. J.
Great to see money and care being invested in it . Looks a lot more welcoming than in the past. Some nice facilities being brought back to life. One in the eye for the people who are always moaning about the Potteries being a mess
Keep up this good work elsewhere too.
M. M.
Great (free) place for children. Three different playgrounds for various age groups, Lake/duck feeding, nice pathways for walking around the park. Some parts are currently under refurbishment. Will be even better when the pavillion opens for refreshments.
V. A.
We had a great time here. Our 2yr old loved the play grounds. Made the most and had lunch on one of the picnic tables. Yeah it needs a little bit of TLC but still thoroughly enjoyable. If we're in the area again we will be coming again
C. D.
Great food in the Pavilion cafe, and a beautifully well kept park. We loved our visit, thank you.
K. M.
Absolutely love this park something for every age to enjoy in there.Just a pity they don't bring the boats back on the lake everyone enjoyed them throughout the years and I think it would attract even more people there.
T. M.
Very surprised with how nice this park was compared to other parks in the city. Was great to see the sports equipment being used as it should and it was very clean
M. P.
Big pleasant park with tennis basketball courts and the like as well as bowls. A large lake and a canal running through the park provide an attraction for water based wildlife. Parts of the park are undergoing major renovation and will prove to be a major asset. Generally a great place to relax and enjoy family time. Only let down by abysmal toilet facilities.
B. T.
A really lovely park, plenty of things for the kids to play on, it's also very nice to walk around the lake and through the park.
T. R. D.
Excellent for Pokemon Go players but visiting at night can be a completely different adventure altogether! Not so sure I'd recommend anyone spending time there after dark when you can't see the local addicts waiting to mug you.
J. D.
Had a great time at hanley park, the kids loved it. They really enjoyed the children's playground
S. S.
Very nice park for the family, the flower beds are amazing and a local cafe which is convenient and practice of the regulations due to the covid 19. Beautiful pond and bridge nice places to look around on the other hand may not be a nice spot after it gets late
T. R.
Lovely place now its been done up
w. b. J.
A very picturesque place, and surprisingly clean of rubbish for the most part. The ground workers obviously care about the place.
It's a shame that when it turns dark, all the druggies and gang members come out and make the place not safe, but in Hanley I suppose not much else can be expected, it is a shame as I imagine its quite a beauty spot to look at the stars
t. B.
Nice park, it looks like it has been refurbished and is a nice place to get some sunlight now. There is a nice lake as well. 😊
L. W.
Brilliant Venue for families or couples. Beautiful gardens and grassed areas. Children's playground excellent
S. B.
Fantastic for the kids with a variety of play areas. Lovely grounds for a peaceful walk
K. G.
Never been here until today and I was pleasantly surprised!
Lovely park and different secure areas for toddlers which I liked. I will be returning!
R.
Nice park but dog have to be kept on lead, could not find an area for them to run off lead without breaking rules. The bee and insects friendly garden part was lovely and some nice historical features around the park too.
J. S.
Large swathes of manicured grassland. Lots of variety in children's play areas. Mature trees, and a beautiful herbaceous border in front of the clock house building. Nice lake and canal with bridges.
Unfortunately there was a lot of building works taking place which ruined the ambiance.
Didn't see one dog here either. But then I believe that dogs are not allowed off their leads in here. What's the point of having a large swathe of green space where you can't let your dogs roam freely? It's not as if they have cattle here!
And not as nice as Longton Park!
T. S.
Was really surprised on my visit to see how much Hanley Park had improved. The Pavillion in particular is a great facility to have, they've made a lovely job of the renovation
G. J.
It's a nice little park, the lake smells a bit funny though. Other than that it's a really pleasant place to visit and relax.
V. M.
It's beautiful....
f. s.
Last iwalk over my my carbon was 1969/70/71/72 as you could pay 1shilling &go on aboat ride yourself, around hanley parklake ,as i also notice many changes like the large white pot on colums which are missing as iremeber when i was alad
K. K.
Great transformation, I must use it more!
T. P.
This is a lovely park! Offers a nice day out, there is a huge pond with lots of wildlife to watch and feed. The only downfall is there is a bridge that needs renovating and has needed it for a long time now and now they are starting to do work on other bits! Seems like it'll be nice in the end but for a while its a bit cluttered.
G. L.
Great few hours out with the kids. Bike ride along the canal to the park, cup of tea to takeaway from the cafe and watched the kids play on the park before cycling home.
N. P.
such a beautiful well kept park.. theres a lovely cafe you can sit in or out..canal walks and 3 childrens parks to play on.. from the very young to the older kids. You wont regret a day out here especially if the suns out
S. N.
Fabulous place to take such a deep breath
M. G.
The park is fantastic for the kids. 3 separate areas to play in. Each for a different age range.
J. L.
On a sunny fresh day a walk around the lake was very relaxing and to see three male goosanders was a bonus followed Up with a stunning photograph of a wren.
S. D.
Great place for kids, some different climbing apparatus to other parks. Lovely lake and a canal running through it.
C. F.
Great for park run on Saturday morning. Dodgy at night though with youths having little else to do but cause trouble.
P. E.
Really nice park especially when the sun is shining. The park is well spread out with different sections for different ages. Usually an ice cream van near by. Court sports available, plenty of grass areas for picnics and games. Really big duck pond with fountains - only bad point would be the parking surrounding streets are quite busy.
H. L.
One of two great parks in Hanley. Many events take place during the summer with lots to do on a daily basis. kids play area. Ducks on beautifully landscaped lakes. football pitchs/ tennis courts skate park, to numerous to mention all sat in beautiful grounds. Actually the skate park seems to have been removed, go Hanley forest park for that now, and the park is currently under reconstruction so should be lovely when it’s finished.
T. W.
A nice park which is being worked on, funded by the National Lottery. A good walk if you are into Pokemon GO, especially on a community day. There are some free concrete pitches and large grass fields for ball games and the canal passes right through.
K. P.
Great Park that the council have spent money well on for a change. Play area for kids is great and it's well presented throughout the park
j. w. m.
Lovely well looked after park.
R. L.
I was pleasantly surprised to find lots of different children's play equipment which my grandson really enjoyed. Will definitely return before too long
N. E.
Nice Park to take the kids to. Shame that the local smack heads and homeless have taken up residence
B. E.
Grounds looking lovely and spring time fresh. Fantastic pavilion cafe for a post-run coffee. Improving every week. Another of Stoke's fabulous parks we are blessed with.
J. B.
Lovely cafe, the park was clean and we really enjoyed walking round
A. B.
Stunning floral displays to admire, lovely to walk in Excellent cafe, just little concerning to see a rough sleeper and the police arrive .At least there was a friendly re assuring police presence but over all it felt safe.
N. J.
Good for all ages kids and children.
J. L.
Only passing through but seems like pleasant open space for local people.
M. S.
The park renovations are really starting to take shape. It's a pleasure to walk past the new borders, so pretty and the scents are beautiful. It's going to be lovely when finished.
H. R.
A lovely park nestled in Stoke on Trent. Beautiful beds of flowers, plenty of ducks and geese and even a kingfisher. Also has a cafe, play areas, tennis courts and basketball courts.
Z. V.
Good place for chilling and sports as well
O. H.
I wish the city council would spend some money on fixing the floors in the park area and fix/update the equipment the zip line has been gone for almost 8 year's.
S. G.
A great place for playing Pokemon Go. The lower car park and some paths are currently closed while they do building work. Toilet facilities are currently poor but hopefully the renovations will fix that. Play park for those with kids, canalside walking. Bring proper wild-bird-seed to feed numerous geese and ducks at the lake.
G. F.
Lovely, well-maintained park.
m.
A nice park but unfortunately there are suspect people who often hang around it usually gangs of men in their twenties who seem preoccupied with girls in their early teens who go there. That aside it has nice facilities a park run geese ducks etc. Just don't let your teenage daughters go there alone.
D. F.
Free parking, 3 different playgrounds for all agegroups (of kids). Artifical grass soccer field, basketball court, tennis court and a pingpong table. A lovely lake with lots of geese.
Unfortunately there is no public toilet in the park.
G. a. b. b. y.
Had an amazing walk around the park with my best friend, quite crowded as ut was a sunny day but it was worth it, loved it there :)
C. C.
Lovely maintained park.
Nice cafe.
Fantastic restored band stand and buildings.
Y. J.
Beautiful, lots of places for children and families to enjoy. Pavilion cafe was fantastic, clean reasonably priced good selection. We spent 3 hrs walking around.
P. i. T. U.
The best place to have a picnic with the family 👍🏻
A. S.
First time we have been for year's it was a pleasant few hours out the only thing that spoiled it could not find a toilet that was open never mind a disabled toilet that we needed it's no good with out toilets unless there is some hidden a way somewhere.
V. J.
The children's equipment is fantastic, so much to do and enjoy. We had a lovely trip to this park.
D. C.
Visit every year for over 4 years, for Hanley carnival festival, which out does its self every year, food was excellent, music ecstatic,
G. W.
Some nice renovation work done. Pleasant cafe. Playgrounds are good but in need of a refurb. Car park maybe insufficient at weekends
Z. J.
This place has free parking...car park is not that big but there are plenty of spaces outside of the park also.
Great for picnics and taking the children to play. Theres a sensory play area and two other play parks.
The play parks are surrounded by some great scenic grounds that are ideal for walking pets, cycling or running.
There is also a sports court but with the open fields that surround the play parks theres plenty of room for picnics and playing a game of football.
There are toilet facilities which could do with updating and do get locked every evening.
The park is very secure considering it is extremly large.
This place could definately do with a refreshment unit, i couldnt understand this as it is such a central location and very popular to surrounding areas.
M. E.
Cold day, lovely place to stop and warm up and have a nice cup of tea.
R. c.
It's great. As I love walking too. And i'm always open to trying new and different places.
J. M.
Cute Park, with lots of Grass, ponds, seating, and a canal one can walk alongside. There are birds you can watch too, but some like to be cheeky and get a bit too close for comfort.
K. W.
Best in town park I've visited. Café on site, dog walking, car park.
S. L.
Local park to me for the past few years, go into to play tennis and basketball. Friendly environment to everyone, has some good facilities. Includes some local wildlife such as ducks and swan. Has a parking area too.
R. B.
Fantastic play areas. Shame about the overflowing bins, litter deposited everywhere including broken glass. The only open toilets were inhabited by drug users and were really grotty and scary to be honest. Nowhere to purchase a drink or icecream such a shame on a beautiful sunny easter weekend.
S. R.
The cafe for a takeaway hot drink has been a godsend during the current covid problems. we walk to the park along the canal towpath then stop for a drink at the newly refurbished pavilion Cafe
G. T.
A real gem of a park a credit to all involved
R. J.
The Astro turf for football is awesome, I've had some great games there. Has a tennis court and basketball court. Cool spots to take photos with family. Park area for the kids. The only downside I would say that there needs to be more of an effort to keep the entire park clean.
S. B.
Really enjoyable day & evening.
C. C.
Great job on the park like having I big beautiful garden to sit and enjoy the sun. Great cafe ,ice creams , play area for kids and toilets.
M. M.
Fabulous large park with canal just eish the cafe was open the day I visited.
A. C.
Hanley park improves week by week. Good playgrounds for children of all ages & lovely meandering paths through mature wooded areas. Shame there is no park patrol to ensure that anti-social behaviour does not become a bigger problem
D. S.
Its a well maintained park in the urban Stoke on Trent. On the Sunday morning there was quite a few families taking a stroll n just hanging around. There are quite a few park benches to sit down too.
L. S.
Lovely place for a dog walk and to look at wildlife or to go for a run.
Cafe is great too.
J. E.
Lovely walk around a large park. Perfect to go to on a nice warm day or wanting to go for a jog. At the North end of park there is a large play area.
C. D.
Nice and clean park, some nice playgrounds, but too busy during holidays or weekends.
g. b.
Never disappoints any time of year, the lottery money has of course been much needed to renew a lovely spot in Stoke on trent,
R. B.
Nice park city in two by the canal. Some TLC needed. Good facilities (toliets). Several playgrounds for kids. Football/tennis courts and basketball court. Free parking at the North and South ends of the park (Parking open from 10am til 8pm)
G. J.
Beautiful place to visit despite lockdown. The cafe was open for takeout only but the setting was very lovely. You must visit when everything is open like the toilets.
J. M.
Lovely park with good play equipment. Great cafe. Very smart and good shelter from the rain. Will return
C. H.
Great facilities and been enjoying some of the events that have been on here in recent months
J. S.
This is a beautiful park. A lovely open space. It as a nice pond and several small parks fir young children. Well looked after and a Free car park.
U. S. T. H.
Very nice place, you can visit here and park free actually inside the premises, then u are pleasured with a building to get a nice hot Dogg I'd u like, for very cheap too. And after that, there is a big lake there with many ducks pigeons and so on. And there is pathways facing the lakes, and further up you can see a park, and there is 3 types of parks, sectioned off. For different ages and u have the much older children and adults skate board etc further up field. After that, u can get a ice dream usually a van there, if not, they sell them in the place u can get a nice hot Dogg, and even a coffee. I dont advice people to go and eat junk food, I advice to stay healthy that's just my advice, thanks anyway, b nice if it helped, oh sometimes they have fun fairs and mini circuses for kids and so on.. Peace all.
E. H.
The park is looking beautiful. Congratulations to the team responsible for the renovations. Looking forward to visiting again when everything's finished and open.
N. P.
Park with lots of potential and great features as well as friendly community and park run. Thankfully it is getting an extensive refurbishment also to improve the surrounding gates and interior buildings. Looking forward to the cafés
H. M.
Absolutely beautiful park but the bins were over flowing and there were no toilets open. Also the amount of druggie homeless men that were hanging around was really off putting as I had my young child with me
J. H.
Excellent park now that the restoration project is near completed. The new shop that's opened is a costa. Would advise against travelling through at night however.
A. A.
Much improved Victorian park. Good paths, children's play area and sports pitch. Pavilion not yet open and toilets need improving.
H. H.
Hanley Park is where the Basketball community of Stoke-on-Trent come together. We also put the courts lines down and nets up regularly. Good sports facilities and well kept park in general also.
B. v. T.
Fair play. This place has been cleaned up from my last visit. We'll done.
k. j.
This park is lovely, it has had money spent on it to improve it. What is lovely is that you can walk around the park, or have a walk along the canal as it runs next to the park
A. M.
It's a nice park to get the kids out for a stroll, it has beautiful views and a lake with alot of bird life to see.
J. F.
Lovely park for all ages, toilets never seem to be open
A. I.
A very serene place to chill with family and friends and significant other.

T. H.
Love walk in a well kept park. Lots of friendly walkers. Nice lake.
S. H.
Clean, well maintained. Visit all the time a nice walk and plenty of room to play football
J.
Really nice park, recently redeveloped and well maintained. Plenty of picnic benches and lots to do for the kids.
j. m.
Beautiful place to visit.
A. C.
It's great fun for the kids and very modern 😁
I. P.
Good sized park, straddling the canal. Victorian fixtures awaiting a heritage grant to do up. Two children's playgrounds including a Sensory Park which looked good fun
C.
Great place to visit with your family and children. You can walk around, feed the ducks or play at the park and enjoy the scenery.
P. J.
Great kids play areas - 3 of them. Nice walks. Good green spaces. Good for picnics. Good parking. Nice lake. Tennis courts. Canal walk. My favourite park in Stoke on Trent.
C. W.
Lovely park. Recently refurbished with excellent playgrounds.
S. F.
Walked along the canal from Birches Head to Hanley park pavilion plenty of people dog walking it's very pleasant since the refurb...well worth a visit.
i. !.
Restoration always seems to be going on in Hanley park. That's the only reason I personally can't give 5 stars. However, with that said, the mix of ponds, children's play areas and other large apparatus, appropriate seating, well structured paths and somewhat acting as a connector to get from place to place as a walkthrough, Hanley park is one place I like.
R. L.
Brilliant park lots to do café is really nice loads better than longton park
P. N.
Lovely, lots of apparatus for play. Large green area, bit strange in Covid-19 times but everyone was careful and polite it was lovely x
R. R.
Lovely park to visit with sporting facilities and lots of green open spaces. Nice small lake with lots of birdlife.
Free parking that is well signposted.
P. S.
Compared with how it used to be, this park is on the up! The fountain has been refurbished, and there are other renovations going on too.
And for those still keen on Pokémon Go: it is busy! Gyms and stops!
N. W.
Very clean and clearly spent money on revamp of cafe etc it but sadly felt very clicky with the natives in certain areas near swings etc. Pity. Central park more friendly.
F. B.
A very pleasant stroll around the park, drinks and snacks are available, at the pavilion cafe.
J. B.
The coffee served at the pavilion just right on a old day. We will be back to taste the hot chocolate and cake
S. B.
Lovely park well set out. Good cafe.
D. M.
Played tennis there, but I think the courts need to be looked after better Ie, new lines marked.
u. s.
Its beautiful but adviced not to go alone or after dark
c. l.
Beautiful place for a walk or relax, very well maintained
A. D.
Great park for families. There are a few nice play areas for children and toddlers and it's just a short walk from the city centre.

Lovely big park
R. J.
Lovely park but ruined by antisocial behaviour (not pleasant people). Nice Park though.
t. g.
Hanley is the best....
C. M. D.
A beautiful park which is currently being restored to it's former glory. The planting of herbaceous plants is really good. Something for Stoke on Trent to be proud of.
T. Y.
The park in parts is been repaired etc, good paths for walking on, toilets were open and in good condition, be better once repair works are finished.
e. s.
Being on the edge of town it was nice and relaxing and very clean and tidy really enjoyed sitting and watching people strolling around the park .
D. M.
Great facilities.
Still has some of the original charm and architecture
W. Z.
I love this park;)
M. G.
Amazing Park, almost like Kurpark in Godesberg
J. T.
A nice walking spot, really clean most of the time.
T. W. Y.
Best park in stoke on trent
B. P.
Went to the music festival, good range of stalls including all sorts of Caribbean food. Music was brilliant. Well done to the city!!

J. Y.
Beautiful park stunning beds n features! 100 kites Kite show! Family fun flying kites! Great afternoon!
R.
Lovely park great for kids nice and clean well done Stoke council
S. A. P.
Lovely Park. It's improved alot. Wouldn't recommend going for a walk late evening on Fridays.. As young lads gather, which can be quite intimidating.
S.
Great place to get out for a walk. Little cafe is lovely and would be great in summer
m. 2.
At last the council has realised what an asset this park is to the new, quite baffling to outsiders visiting 'The City Centre' of Stoke on Trent. A visit during the day is a plesent experience but sadly, be sure to exit once the clock strikes four pm when the park opens for 'Business...'
J. G.
A lovely little place for the kids during the day, nice sizeable playground with plenty to keep then busy, not the nicest place of a night, and can be disturbed from a pleasant view with all of the construction and destruction work going on in the central areas, quite the eyesore unless you avoid the canal and old bandstand areas.
