Reviews of Jubilee Lake and Playground
D. H.
Great place to visit as it has a fence around play park which the kids adore!
Also a nice walk down to the lake and a small wooded area to walk through.
Cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday and does amazing coffee, toasties and divine cakes at a decent price.Staff are lovely too!!
Only negative is that the car park is quite small so we tend to go during term time only and rarely at weekends as it gets very busy.
D. M.
First visit and so enjoyable. Beautiful and tranquil. Also a super play area for kids near the parking, so it is not intrusive when walking around the lake.
J. G.
The playground is very good with a variety of apparatus to go on my grandson really enjoyed playing there. There is plenty of room near the lake to have a picnic and watch the wild life.
A very good little cafe where you can purchase drinks? Ice creams and cake. Chairs and tables to sit down on provided although limited, especially in the holidays.
Rather limited for parking cars although it has been enlarged recently we were lucky to find a space. A walk round the lake is interesting and data provided to say what wildlife you might come across. Altogether a fun place to go and doesn't cost anything.
l. w.
Absolutely stunning little walk we enjoy it here. Play park is lovely and when the sun is shining the little drink cabin is gorgeous. Staff are amazing, cakes are delicious ♡
A. W.
We visit it here with our friends as a half way meet up, the play park is great for our kids to play and burn off some steam. Cafe has great selection of food & drinks, quality friendly service. Car park is free but a tad small.
L. E.
Recently won a place as one of the most dog friendly parks in Wiltshire. Great cafe, well looked after, kids play area, nature trails, plenty of seats at the large lake at the bottom of the hill. Really dog friendly, great for dog walkers.
R. B.
Lovely little park to walk round with a fishing lake at the bottom. Nice large kids playground and a cafe ran by some very friendly people.
B. D.
Lovely area with a cafe when the schools are off open more in the summer there are toilet facilities a car park can get very busy in the summer months
K. A.
The autumn leaves in the golden light, wonderful today. The lake was full of gulls and I caught a glimpse of a kingfisher. Magic place.
R. C.
Cute quiet place. Free parking but not a huge amount, I can imagine on a sunny weekend this would be full. The park is great for all ages and a very reasonable size. Lots of benches around if you wanted to have a picnic. Not a huge amount of birds on the lake so not worth taking loads of bread, you can purchase so bird seeds in the cafe. The cafe is lovely, very kind ladies! Very reasonable prices to. It is a very hilly slope to the lake so not great for wheel chairs.
l. s.
As far as I can tell it was a lovely vibrant place because my partner told me. Sadly unless you have a powerful scooter which I don't you will have problems getting down and back up the very steep access, but in fairness they point this out to you from the start. Maybe when I can afford a better scooter I will see it next time. But if you are abled it sounds Pukka.
D. H.
I enjoy taking my dog here and he loves it. There are lots of trees and plants and a lovely little lake with wildfowl and fish and there are information boards detailing plants, wildlife, tree types etc. A nice, peaceful place to go. 😊
P. K.
Great playground and lovely woodland walk around fishing lake. Very small carpark.
J. C. (. C.
Beautiful rural walk around the lake, my children and my dog loved it. Not too long a walk for little legs, but take wellies as it's pretty muddy, and some paths aren't great for pushchair or wheelchairs as they are quite steep but most are passable. If you don't want to do the nature walk head straight to the play park, its enclosed, clean and well kept with lots to do, and it's right next to the car park. There is a cafe but this isn't always open, we didn't see any toilets other than in the cafe so good idea to 'go' before you leave home.
p. D.
Lovely place for a walk, feed the ducks, good cup of tea and cake to relax with while the kids play in the park
J. W.
The nature boards could be cleaned for visitors as could not read them that much to dirty otherwise a very nice place for a walk
S. H.
A brilliant place to visit for peace and quiet walks and access to nature and wildlife with numerous benches and seating, picnic area and also outdoor seating at Cafe which is open Wednesdays to Sundays..hours usually 10 a.m to 4p.m unless weather is very wet. Free Car parking including disabled spaces.Open to visitors on foot 24/7 365 days a year. Car parking also always open as far as I am aware.
b. w.
Nice playground with a good range of equipment for the kids to play on. A fairly well kept lake and surrounding for a pleasant stroll. The cafe on site is handy serving selection of drinks (hot and cold), ice creams and snacks. Can get too busy at times and is fairly small. Could do with better signposting and maintenance to nearby footpaths to encourage longer walks.
R. W.
Beautiful park and lake with children's playground.
I. H.
This is a lovely place for the little ones to play in but sadly it is closed due to the current situation,it will be nice when it reopens to see the children playing in there again....Let’s all hope it’s soon
K. J.
A little disapointed here as was expecting a much larger park. Not unpleasant but a bit small.
N. S. H.
Beautiful little area that has great little park for kids. Little shop that sells all bits you could need such as coffee and ice creams. Only downside is parking area although free, is not big enough. But, if you can get parked, your kids will love it.
R. T.
Great little park with a brilliant playground, nice little walk around the lake and woods and lots of interesting logs to climb on, interesting statue and things to spot. Lovely place to let the kids run free
M. R. S.
My little boy loves the park and the walk around the lake is very peaceful and relaxing
D. B.
Stopped here by accident but thoroughly enjoyed a sunset walk around the lake
N. B.
What a lovely place to go the child minding children loved watching the Mother duck and her ducklings today . The cafe's lovely coffee and cake was the best .😘
S. A.
The twins love this park. It's enclosed, plenty of seating. There are climbing frames and stepping logs, bridges and the favourite zip line. Afterwards thought we would walk around the lake, saw the ducks and geese, though your not allowed to feed them bread, maybe lettuce, took photos and had a picnic at a picnic table near lake. Brilliant day. Free parking. There is a cafe, though it's not open Mondays. The toilets are available
S. J.
Lovely place to take a walk or to let the kids play. A beautiful lake surrounded by ancient woodland. On site you can also find a tea room (closed mid December to February) serving hot and cold drinks. The menu is limited but the food is of a good standard. There is also a play park with great apparatus. It is clean and modern.
There are some toilets, they are a little tired and dated and can at times be dirty. However the facility is appreciated especially it's close proximity to the play park and tea rooms. Over all Jubilee lake is an excellent place to spend an afternoon.
C. P.
we love it here. Nice walk around the lake and there's a lovely coffee shop / cafe selling some lovely snacks ,hot drinks, ice cream and served with a smile...a good place to met up withfamily and friends.
s.
Well kept and maintained. Clean, peaceful and quiet.
C. W.
Always clean, play ground isn't as crowded as most, when it's open there's a nice little shop there. For public toilets even they were clean. Nice walk with well maintained paths accessible for wheel chairs too although a little steep at a point.
D. M.
Had a lovely time with my Grandson at the play park, followed by a lovely coffee an piece of cake for me and a strawberry milkshake and chocolate brownie for my Grandson,we will be back .
A. M.
Great place to entertain kids with park and lake.
M. H.
A nice little walk around a small lake maybe 200 metres x 100 with plenty of spaces to fish with a local permit. It's clean and there are a few picnic tables and a nature trail. Information boards around the lake aimed at children. Also a reasonable play area near the car park at the top. There is a zip wire and lots of climbing things and baby swings. A cafe with outdoor seating and loos.
Car park holds about 15 cars. A good little outing for an hour.
C. M.
Lovely little walk for a dog and to tire out a small one...then a great play park and a place to sit and have a bite to eat. Definitely worth a visit!
S. P.
What a fabulous walk. The lake and surrounding woodlands are very well kept, and the tea room by the children's playground at the top (open Thursday to Sunday) is brilliant - great coffee, ice cream, cake etc. Perfect for dog walking or keeping children busy.
M. J.
A great little find. A little nature trail around a small lake. Hidden away from the main roads of Royal Wootten Bassett.
Around 20 free parking spaces is a great help.
The park isn't massive, but very peaceful and a nice little walk. If you follow the trail clockwise, you go downhill to come back up. And you can treat yourself for the uphill by stopping at the little cafe near a children's play park.
All very reasonably priced. And good quality.
Will be going back.
B. L.
Beautiful place. Clean and well looked after. Perfect for a quick stroll with the pooch
N. C.
Lovely little lake and park. Shame the cafe isn't open every day though especially in good weather.
L. W.
Superbly well maintained and really clean all round, including the Toilets! The Cafe is first Class snobbery clean, with Charming, Friendly and Helpful Owner! Their Coffee, Tea, Snacks and Ice-creams are delish, they even stock Doggies Ice-cream, so little Rodders enjoys this venue as his favourite walk! Also nice that certain areas are purposely left to grow naturally wild, so as to encourage and provide a natural habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. It is always a pleasant place to walk, relax and meet some interesting and lovely people!!
S. T.
Good playground short walk around the lake. Toilet let it down dirty and smells
R. C.
Great place to wonder around, lovely lake in a nice pleasant area
M. S.
Fantastic play area for the kids. Nice little cafe/shop to buy coffee and cake etc. Lovely lake with lots of species of fish. My son's favourite place by far.
T. C.
Very well looked after park with lots of seats, nice lake and streams and not too far to walk around.
D. H.
We love this park. Always well maintained and suitable for all ages. We love playing at the park then taking a stroll round the lake. Also no visit isn't complete without seeing the resident cat who is without doubt always there when we visit. Probably one of out highlights.
Y. H.
Fish here regularly. Great place for bream and roach plus the occasional tench. 1 or 2 carp but they rarely come out. Lots of dog walkers and kids etc but doesn't affect the fishing 👍👍
Z. O.
great place for kids but also adults. My kids love it there
J. M.
Lovely quaint little playground for the kids. Different things for different ages. Good cafe and toilets on site. Was in a rush today but will walk on further to the lake tomorrow 😊
N. B.
Lovely park for young children. Fenced in with adjacent cafe and toilets. With enjoyable short walk through the trees and around the lake.
S. P.
I visit Jubilee Lake about three times a week. The car park is on Brinkworth Road. From here there are two paths down to the lake. The right path takes you to the playground, the excellent little café (Tea in the Park) and the toilets. The left path takes you down through the trees near the Thunderbrook and has nature trail signs. Paths are smooth but a little steep in places. The lake is used mainly for short walks, picnicking and fishing. There are usually ducks, and in summer you can see geese (can be grumpy!) and sometimes a heron. The lake is owned and managed by the town council. Dogs are welcome, but leads preferred, especially around children and wildlife.
A. M.
