Reviews of Gheluvelt Park
P. L.
Lovely green oasis just off the Ombersley Rd.
Plenty of ducks for children to feed.
Tennis courts for those interested.
Able to get to the River Severn when walking through the park which is a plus point.
Ideal place for a picnic on a nice day.
P. C.
Always a good walking park. Absolutely great for children on a summer's day with the wonderful water park. Lovely lake with many ducks and usually a pair of swans. Good adult exercise route leading towards river. Nice children's playground . Finally a city memorial to its soldiers well worth visiting, and a firm reminder of the important part played by The Worcestershire 2nd Batallion Regiment at the Battle of Gheluvelt.
C. O.
Although it was busy it was very enjoyable. We went around 3pm met with friends and let the kids get abit soggy. There was shade by the trees so was not to hot and everyone seemed to be having a good time and enjoying the hot weather. A good FREE few hours of fun for the kids ( even big kids to )
A. T.
A large multi use city park with mainly recreational use across al age ranges. One section house a decent size kids play area, a small lake, water splash pad, tennis courts, table tennis and a kick around area. There's a seasonal small cafe and toilet block. The other main section is largely left as a natural area used mainly by dog walkers and walkers, it is virtually adjacent to Worcester race course so provides a decent length and tranquil setting. This section also houses a decent eco-cafe which proves good quality natural products and home made style cakes. Along the tarmac footpath are a number of adult exercise machines which appear to be infrequently used.
P. P.
I absolutely adore the park. It is beautiful and the caretaker clearly looks after it. I just wish that the splash pad would be opened earlier, as there's masses of kids waiting to go on from 9:30/10am and when it's been as hot as it has been recently, it would be greatly appreciated by everyone to open it up earlier than 11, especially as it gets hotter later in the day/ afternoon.
Also, the toilets can smell vile.
They are directly in the sun, so it's like a hotbox of musky pee. Not so nice.
Perhaps an automated airfresher could be put in each of them to at least mask the smell of urine, as i appreciate they can't be constantly cleaned with how often they are used.

We love this park. Short walks and a good sized area. Everytime we've visited there's always an abundance of ducks, which pleases my 2 yo.
J. C.
Lovely splash pad, grandson enjoyed it. Not a lot else to recommend it for, the problem is parking. The free car park at the pump house is now always full with people going to the gym next to it. The next nearest one is the Swan theatre car park.
J. B.
Super little park always super well maintained the whole grounds, fitness equipment been broken a while and the kids play area looks ok but used to be better back in the day. Overall a nice park would recommend visiting
A. Y.
Fantastic splash pad clean tidy and lots of features. Nice place to visit on a sunny day the kids love it.
T. W.
Great park, Picnic area, a water fountain area for children to splash around in, a nature trail, etc. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back 😊
T. n. G.
Lovely place to go and have a lovely time there a slash pad for the kids and the pond to sit and feed the ducks well the kids play on the park
D. B.
Excellent park with something for everyone one, water splash, swings, roundabouts, tennis courts, gym equipment, walking and cycling, ponds, plants.
A. H.
Awesome park, rated in the top 5 of the country right on my doorstep, my only gripe is it gets busy in the summer with poeple travelling a long way to visit lol
P. R.
Truly love this place. Tennis courts, stream, pond, river, loads of places to picnic and a cafe in the Pump House.
D. W.
The dogs love it. The exercise equipment adds an extra dimension.
Drainage on the lower field is poor, so stick to the paths unless you have wellies, after rain.
D. B.
Great mixture of park land, sports facilities and kids play. In nice weather the splash pad is always a win with kids.
Plus nice place to get ice cream and refreshments.
T. C.
Beautiful clean park with plenty of squirrels to feed.
M. N.
Love this Park so clean and the water park is added feature 👌🏾even though its the school summer break there's still loads of area to pick and choose ur spot to chill and have ur packed lunch
J. C.
Very peaceful and full of wildlife
J. D.
Lovely park for picnic, family day with kids, to feed ducks or to splash a little
J. B.
Lovely park, great for kids. It has a play area and also a wet play area. A nature walk, toilets and a cafe.
M. R.
Excellent all round park. Splash pad is a favourite but loads of other great things.
c. S.
Lovely big park for everyone. Only sorry they closed the splash pad due to rain. ⛲
C. B.
Brilliant splash pad on a hot day we spent 6hrs here and it's all free x
R. P.
Come here regularly to enjoy this small park .Parking is a problem but you can get around it After all its to he joy of Worcester.
T. r.
A lovely green park to chill out on a sunny day. It has a decent playground, a splash pad in the summer and gym equipment.
T. S.
Pretty little park, excellent play areas for children. Busy with families when the weather is sunny, especially in the water fountain area.
Well maintained. Toilet facilities and two places to get snacks, ice cream.
J. F.
Love this park. Lots to do and a nice green space.
j. c.
First visit 6.10.21 and really liked it. A good size park with children's area, large stream along one side running into the Severn, some adult exercise pieces around the edges, and an old pumphouse with historic info and a cafe. 2 tennis courts with a quality surface and, more unusually, 2 table tennis tables. Will definitely visit again.
A. H.
A really lovely park, fantastic playground for my 2yr old granddaughter, lovely and clean, and nice to watch the ducks and swans. We discovered the wonderful cafe on the far side of the park which was most welcoming at the end of the day :-) I'd recommend the park to anyone young or old
H. A.
We're so lucky to have this facility in our city. Always spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. There's always so much to do here, a playground which suits all ages, the ever popular splash pad, a walking trail with exercise equipment. There's also a fantastic rosta of events particularly over the summer, our particular favourites are the brass bands on a Sunday and the Worcester Show which has grown over the years to become one of the best events in the city. I couldn't love Gheluvelt more.
T. C.
This is one of Worcester best parks. Everything is well maintained, splash pads are great fun for the kids and there lots of activities on through the year. I think the kids play area is a bit average and not suitable for toddler age or under.
L. S.
The park itself is beautiful and well maintained. We weren't expecting the splash pad to be on today, but it was so an impromptu splash play was added to our morning. Very lovely day and could easily spend several hours there as there is lots of space to play and explore
A. N.
What a beautiful and historic park. Driven past it hundreds of times but never been in before
S. W.
Amazing place, very calm and relaxing, perfect for family walks and there is a park for little children
n. s.
A well looked after park with plenty to do. Tennis courts, water splash park, fields and play park.
c. b.
Great Park. In my view the best in Worcester especially with the new toilet block and Cafe. The pump house has a good cafe too with lots of environmental things of interest. The splash park for kids is back open and the tennis courts have been resurfaced. Sl in all a lovely park for all aged. Don't miss the first World War memorial which is thought provoking and poignant.
R. C.
Great place to take children.
Lovely Park.
J. K.
Face Painting for national play day (funky faces face painting Worcester) great park. Pump room cafe recommended
S. B.
Brilliant fun on a hot sunny day. Water runs 11am-4pm. Get there early to get a spot in the shade!
R. M.
Fantastic park for dog walking with great facilities for children
T. J.
Beautiful park for the kids and a free splash park, awesome!
R. P.
I know a park is a place for children and families but my partner and I like walking around as we live down the road from here. Great park for children and lots of space for families with dogs but wouldn't mind seeing something aimed at adults, for example inflatable fun area, local pop/rock groups putting outdoor concerts on in the bandstand, a building that houses ping pong tables and a small gaming centre with air hockey for example.
A. L. a. L. “. i. o. E.
Brilliant but could do with better toilet and baby changing facilities
Z. R.
Good for family
Picnic
Play area
Water shower area
R. G.
Love the splash pad , great in hot sunny days . The park us well kept and quite a large space for nice walks . Summer time the bands are great to listen to .
Take a picnic , relax and listen to the band while kids play on the splash pad:)
K. W.
Really nice park to jog, walk or have a picnic. I absolutely love the Splash pad. The kids can't seem to get enough of it and the security people are so polite and friendly.
m. e.
Kids absolutely loved it in the splashpark...more councils should do these facilities
J.
Lovely park on the river front that has something for everyone. Little kids play area well equipped although our 5 year old found the climbing frame too challenging. Well maintained gardens with stream running through and a walk round a lake. Nature walk. Outdoor gym equipment scattered around. Tennis and table tennis. Wet play zone. Excellent!
H.
1. Cafe clean and pleasant.
2. Cafe sadly closed at 9:50 am on a Saturday when there is a Park Run only 250 metres away with over 300 attending.
D. J.
Serene and green on remembrance park too soldier's of WW1. Created on what was a rubbish tip in the older parts, and in the latest addition a waterworks until the 1960 s.
D.
A great little park with a play area for small kids, ponds and rivers full of wildlife: ducks, squirrels, and swans. A wonderful splash water park. It's a great place to meet friends, or go for a day out or even just pop in. It's dog friendly which is great If you have a dog, but not if you are allergic
F. M.
Gheluvelt Park is a beautiful Park in Worcester.
It has something for everyone. It even had a splash pad for children during the Spring and Summer months. Toilets too!!
It's very popular after school when parents bring their children to play and they (parents) can catch up with other Mums and Dads.
A stream runs through the park; there is a little bridge a bandstand and ducks galore.
D. H.
Love this place, green spaces, streams and nature. The kids love the ducks and squirrels. Water play area and play park. Toilets and coffee shop. Also nearby shops. Easily spend the whole day here.
J. G.
Pleasantly laid out park. Small pool with ducks. Exercise equipment, good play area for young children and separate splash pad open in the summer (all being well!). Paved paths throughout the park.
I. S.
How lucky we are to have such a fantastic park within Worcester. So relaxing and plenty of fun for the kids including splashpads and a play park. Toilets are clean and well kept and you can even buy a coffee and ice cream to enjoy next to the river. Parking can be tricky sometimes, but a bit of local knowledge helps here! I would say that on the whole this is on a par with Pittville Park in Cheltenham - another fantastic park.
I. T.
An extensive park stretching from the main road down to the river Severn. Named after a heroic battle fought by the Worcestershire Regiment at Gheluvelt in Belgium in WW1. There's a rather strange war memorial made of rusting iron girders.
Barbourne Brook winds through it, feeding a duck pond.
The newly refurbished tennis courts are sadly locked up and the very popular splash pad is all too frequently out of order.
An excellent range of children's play apparatus on a soft area that is as safe as can be keeps our grandchildren happy.
There's a cafe and a refreshment kiosk, though currently (August 2020) on limited opening hours.
When the splash pad is mended and the toilets, tennis courts and cafe are fully open 5 stars will be deserved.
Update Easter holidays 2022: splash pad working! Cafe back to normal.
J.
A beautiful park. Dogs are welcome. Please respect the park by cleaning up after your dogs. The Cafe on site is very good.
V. L.
Beautiful well kept park with interesting features and plenty of space what ever time of year and a lovely riverside walk into the city. Some ground work going on at the moment (November) so very muddy in that area. The barrier to the carpark is too low for our campervan so we had to park on the road 😐
R. F.
Wide open spaces for little ones to run and play and ride using firm pathways for scooters or small bikes. Small playground with Swings and climbing frames and a slide to them busy. Ducks and large pond with bridges amidst the trees and fields. Good cafe with inside and outside seating. Car park nearby.
P. K.
Kids had a brilliant day out finding love rocks and putting them out again
A. M.
The park has a lot of green spaces running all the way down to the river. Lovely views over the river.
There is a cafe, tennis courts, two table tennis tables with all weather nets. Children's play areas. Currently some of the facilities and cafe are closed due to the Covid virus.
Y. K.
Great park for every one! Space for running, tennis, walk, playground... you have everything what you need there, to feel good!
R. D.
Lots of space and plenty to do for the kids from Poo sticks in the stream to swings and slides. Feeding the ducks is also fun!
R. P.
Impeccably clean, huge stunning open space, the splash pad is AWESOME! Great view of your child/children from the hill, plenty of shades areas, clean toilets, plenty of off street parking (even if you have to drive around a couple of times) Will become a regular haunt for sure
M. F.
Only a short visit but was a lovely relaxing place to go.
J. J.
Love this park. It has everything. Fantastic for all the family. Play area water park small lake ducks swans tennis courts table tennis exercise machines all tastefully blended into the park greenery. Big green open spaces. lovely teas coffees cakes small meals snacks in the environmental centre, views of the River Severn, dog walking cycle paths, hygiene facilities and often events throughout the year. Suitable for prams wheelchairs. Parking available for cars and bikes. An all round tip top place. Highly recommend.
G. A.
Lovely friendly park.safe for the grandchildren to play
T. G.
Great park for all ages. Plenty of access and disabled friendly. Splash pad is great and with ice-cream & sparkling clean toilets nearby it's a perfect family day out. Very clean and tidy too.
D. S.
Beautiful well tended Park and gardens, great place to relax and unwind away from the hurly burly.
a. h.
Beautiful park well maintained, great place to just rest, or a quiet family picnic, love the stream and wildlife
G. E.
Nice Park will defo visit again for a walk near the river.
R. C.
It has obviously been busy. The flooded zone had been topped with snow and with swowballers and mountain bike riders practicing, the areas bordering the paths are very muddy. But that does not spoil the park. Crisp and wintry today.
k. m.
Lovely local park. Ideal for kids (slashpad), dog walkers (next to river and race course) and enjoying the variety of maturetrees and shrubs. Very well maintained with beautiful planting and small brook running through it. Great bandstand for summer evening concerts and weekend brass bands.
C. S.
Fantastic park for kids and adults. There's gym equipment, a splash zone for the summer and changing rooms. Lots of play areas and also lots of space. Ducks too! Really lovely park beautifully maintained.
L. s.
One of the good and safe parks of worcester for children!! Kids have lots of fun in the splash pad too during summers ( however 2nd consecutive yr it is closed due to COVID)
C. K.
Great fun 👍 but extremely rude assistant manning the splash pad today he asked me where i was from and said I shouldn't be there as I live in Droitwich. I've lived in Worcester all my life up until 2018 . Queeing system a joke as for 4 weeks no que until today on a baking hot day we have to wait in queues. But we are allowed to queue right next to other people but only 20 allowed in splash pad itself . Shocking
R. W.
Very clean and well manicured. Lots of families. Playground, nature trail, outdoor gym, little stream, splashpad, tennis courts, ducks to feed. Lots of benches so even though it was busy it was easy to find seats.
J. 2.
Really nice place with a good atmosphere great for kids and adults with a large feild to walk around a park and splash pad (the splash pad wasn't open when I was there) you can also walk dogs and occasionally there are events in the feild
H. P.
Fantastic day out, water park was open and on a day like today was cooling and great for the grandchildren, ducks and Swan to feed and loads of open space for picnicking, would come again in a heartbeat
S. S.
There's no dedicated parking so had to find a side road.
Park is beautiful and well kept with a stream, a splash pad and a play area.
N. R.
Perfect park for little ones with play area, pond and splashpad operating in summer. New sons of rest building is a nice addition providing toilets and cafe. Great place for a picnic
B. L.
Lovely wide open space. The water pad wasn't open when I was there but the play park was. Lots of benches with and without tables and lots of shade.
P. C.
Great park litterally a stones throw from me annual worcester show was good weekend in august
K. I.
Great Park and loads of space for the kids. Only one concern is that it has a river running through it and not all of it is fenced of, so it have littlies could be quite dangerous.
M. B.
Great park to hang out at, run, ride, play... coffee shop is average but nice to have, toilets in both sides of the park, parking available if you drive. Just check before you travel as it floods, very often...
M. L.
Excellent location to take the kids and the splash pad is perfect for hot summer days
S. S.
Have always enjoyed this park. Our 3 year old daughter loves the Splash Pad and my Wife and I enjoy the walk around and past the river.
There was a slight exception until recently; I'm not a fan of dogs especially having been attacked 3 or 4 times in the past. It worries me seeing dogs off their leads running wild and bounding up to our daughter with no owner in sight but recently things have changed and it appears that dog owners are obeying the notices in the areas marked ' dogs must be kept on a lead. It is now much more of a pleasure to visit this park. Oh, and plenty of facilities too. Highly recommended.
C. S.
A beautiful park with ponds, streams, play area, nature trail and a bandstand. It borders the A38 at one end and the beautiful River Severn at the other. Just a mile and a half from Worcester city centre.
F. H.
Beautiful park with splash pad, bandstand, trim trail and play area. I would give 5 stars, however on a boiling hot day with hundreds of children at the splash pad- the toilets were locked. Not good. Kids weeing and pooing in bushes all over the place.
C. E.
Great free place to take the kids. It has a splash pad and a play area.
M. H.
Good day out.
The only bad thing was the toilets are so far from the splash park there were kids weeing and pooing under trees, which Is utterly disgusting.
Just the addition 1 or 2 portacabins would stop that.
Other than that it was a lovely day out.
We took a picnic and spent a few hours there.
My kids played in the splash park then we all enjoyed walking along the stream, playing ball in the field, playing in the park and using the outdoor gym.
B. T.
We went into Gheluvelt park cafe - the Pump House, which was good, as you can take your dogs there as long as you sat outside, and also as long as they are kept on their leads. They also had several bowls of water around outside for the dogs, so they had drinks. The cafe were short staffed, however they had a sign up just in front of the counter, so people were informed as to why they were slow in taking your order so it was up to the individual whether they stayed. Very pleased with the service there.
S. O.
It is a park. What more can I say. Great for walking around and has a children's play area. Fountains aswell but only on at certain times in the year. Can be busy in the summer but plenty of space to be able to sit without feeling crowded.
N.
The Splashpad was being well used yesterday.
E. P.
Always a great time at the splash pads even when it's busy. Loads of things to do great for walking dogs and also lovely pond. Plenty of places to take nice pictures too.
G. P.
This is one of the best parks in Worcester, it has so much to do from the splash pad to running through the fields, my children love it here, I must say my wife and I also enjoy the walks, the river runs past as well so it's a great all rounder.
S. E.
Great for kids, dog walking and nature trails. It has a great splash pool, eating areas and is disabled friendly. Parking can be an issue but can be a good day out. Toilet facilities and cafe service is available.
D. J.
This is a great inexpensive place to take kids on a nice day. Fabulous park and even an outdoor gym, fun for adults and kids alike. When the weather is really warm take a walk through the splash pad to cool down. Hungry?? Then take a picnic with you and go on a nice stroll down to the pump house cafe where hot drinks and yummy cakes are served. Ice cream van regularly there and instead of feeding bread to the ducks you can get a big bag of duck food from the cafe for £1.
C. H.
I love the trees and parkland, the pool with the ducks and swans, the bandstand in the middle with its Christmas tree and lights, even its memorials. Our little granddaughter loves the ducks and the waterfall under the bridge and the play area.
I. D.
It's an awesome place to hang out on a sunny or whatever day. There's a great children playground appealing even to adults and a small pond. Ducks are walking around and birds are chirping as it's green everywhere. You can also find a basketball court as well as 2 tables for tennis. If you want to get something to drink or eat there's a Sainsbury's Local which is 2 minutes away from the park.
D. S.
Nice place to come for a walk, and also to take children to the splash pad on hot days! Lovely scenery and close to town. Parking can get tight if you need to park close and its a hot day as it gets very busy.
Y.
This is such a beautiful park, with lots of amenities, including a playground, toilets,a kiosk serving light refreshments, tennis courts, gym equipment,a nature trail,& a splash pad for the younger children in the summer & so more,it is kept very well by the county council and is a great place to visit all year round.
R. H.
Went to park for fish and chip supper, and cake, for grand daughter's 16th birthday! This is a beautiful park with playground for youngest grand daughter. Social distancing by some sadly a bit questionable...
C.
The best park we've been to. It has everything you could want, ducks, splash pad, cafe, toilets, field, table tennis, icecream, exercise equipment. Our 1, 6 & 8 year old love it. Highly recommend a visit.
S. S.
Beautiful park with a great play area for children.
R. M.
A really nice park. Very peaceful when few people about. Very busy on hot days, due to the splash pad (when it's working!) has a decent sized play area and lots of open space down towards the river.
M.
Fab fab fab Took 9 kids ranging from 6 months to 9 years.Amazing time had my all. We need more of these facilities. We took a picnic so just to let you know there are no food facilities nut everyone were eating picnics. Ice cream van by the park entrance. Definatley could do with coffee wagon but understand that most probably not practical.
We have been twice in a week as great day out with the kids for free.
B. R.
Great place for a family day out, the splash pad is great in hot weather. Plenty of space for picnics, ball games, sunbathing etc. Ice cream often available, and a cafe at the nearby Environment Centre is a great place for a coffee.
J. B.
A really lovely park. Well maintained. Always busy with adults and children. Doggies enjoy it too. Nice ponds and stream going through park. Even saw a kingfisher today.
S. W.
Fabulous park, heard about it from a friend. The kids loved the splash pad. Wonderful area, only thing we paid for was the ice creams, toilet facilities available and a very popular place for the locals
G. H.
Very nice well presented park. The Security personnel over the weekend at the splash feature were excellent and patient .
T. R.
Great new fence round the splash pad. Fab facility with well kept gardens and play equipment.
E. H.
Don't know the Worcester area very well but glad we found this gem of a place! Splash pool for the kids was amazing, and the kids park was clean and full of things for them to go on. Worth the 5 stars 😍
T. L.
Beautiful place! There's a child's splash area, and affordable kiosk which sells ice-creams, drinks, food etc. Lots of room for dogs to play. An all around amazing place
A. M. C.
Lovely park with a band stand that not always able to get access too. There a play area that is great for little ones too so there something for everyone, there plenty of green areas too and it nice in the warmer weather for a picnic too.
G. T.
Great park, needs updating now, maybe basketball hoops, more swings and a bigger slide, too popular now, needs more as it gets really busy.
j. h.
It's a great park, with a duck pond and wildlife areas to check out. A stream cuts through the middle and has a couple of bridges. The stream leads to the river Severn, past outdoor kids areas, a splash pad, outdoor gym equipment and tennis courts before passing 2 large dog walking spaces. Near the river is the old Victorian pumphouse which holds community events and classes as well as an eco cafe. I love this park and pass through it most days with the dog. There are regular events held throughout the year and there is something for everyone!
S. D.
Lovely little park to walk round & grab a coffee from the cafe on our walk with the dogs
G. D.
Very good facility for the community and visitors
s. m.
Beautiful place 😍 so much fun ⛲
M. B.
Nice park for both children and adults. Has water play area, out door exercise equipment (suitable mainly for old people) swings and picknic benches :)
C. L.
Had a great time with granddaughter in the play area and the trim park. There were plenty of people but it felt covid safe.
G. W.
Even in tne chills of mid winter, this beautiful park is always a pleasure to walk around for all and to take, even if it is a brief moment, to appreciate those who fought for us and to whom the Park is a living memorial.
H. K.
A lovely park with a wilder side with open grass and an eco centre. On the other side there's a great water park, tennis courts, children's playground (with swings, climbing frames etc), and lots of paths for strolling amongst the trees and flowers. There's a brook running through it and a pond so there's plenty birdlife too. Refreshments available in the Pump Room which also houses the eco centre. Very well kept.
D. B.
We were in the park for the Worcester Show, an Event for locals and others who appreciate a good old fashioned family show. There was a Flower Marquee for any budding gardener's to show of their magnificent flowers, fruit and vegetables, another for Cakes, Bread, Scones, Jams, Pickles, Crafts, Painting, Photography and many others.
People were entertained by Belly Dancers, Local singers and Worcesters very own Rock Choir who were excellent, as always there was a great variety of food stalls to choose from and the Cider/Beer tent was struggling to keep up, we'll be here again next year.
T. I.
Its a great park with many relaxing areas and there is a free outdoor gym. It has a good duck pond as well.Only problem the toilets are so far from the splash pad.
G. M.
Voted in the national papers in top three best parks in the UK and it is clear why. A lovely space, splash-pad, tennis courts, children's play area and nice open spaces.
N. B.
This park is the most beautiful area to come and chill as a student, especially as a student parent. Kids can play while theres plenty of areas to do work/read.

Back in 1995 when I got married we had all our photographs done down by the Duck Pond it was beautiful and amazing day well over the years things have changed but the place is still looking absolutely wonderful I would highly recommend it to anyone but please remember the gates are lot at dusk the only downside to the park that I could find especially as a disabled person is the lack of parking I had to drive round and round ages but then I got really lucky and managed to get a parking spot by the side gate hate to really do this and put a little more of a downer on it the day I went it was a really quiet day but it was worth the wait the place looked spectacular
C. W.

Partly flooded at the moment and quite wet underfoot.

Great for younger children, but overtaken by youths on bikes, weaving in and out of the play area and hijacking the play equipment. When spoken to I just got a torrent of abuse. It appears that there is no local policing of the park. Shame really.
A. S.
