Reviews of Marine Gardens
N. A.
Beautiful beautiful place to hang out near King's Cross xx
S. L.
Enjoy going to restaurant for tea/coffee or light lunch to meet friends for a lazy social get together. Very friendly staff and tables cleaned all the time. Park enjoyable for a walk through or sit down on one if the benches. Easy street parking.
T. H.
Small gardens with a bowling green and somewhere to enjoy a bite to eat and drink.
S.
Nice little place to have a little walk. There are toilets and a cafe on site so great for dogs/kids ect. Very well kept.
W. P.
My kids love to come here when we visit their grandparents in Worthing, either for the playground or just to play on the rocks or make sandcastles in the sand at low tide.
S. B.
Great place for a stroll with the family in all weathers. Today was a particularly beautiful start to the new year. Nice smooth surface for buggies scooters bikes roller skates etc. Beach play area for kids and several cafes close by.
J. R.
Worthing's old fashioned bowls and putting green with the typical 60's cafe. Always well looked after. Right opposite seafront and a good fenced in children's play area.
S. G.
Spacious and light cafe next to bowling green, putting green and attractive gardens. Almost opposite driftwood sculpture area on the shingle beach, beloved by amateur artists.
A. P.
Clean and tidy, good food and drink, easy access and just across the road from the sea or walk along the prom.
K. S.
Beautiful gardens, great seating area right near the pond and fountain. Loved the gorgeous dragonfly.
G. 8.
Lovely Garden
Had breakfast at Cafe nice ambience and welcoming staff. However my egg banedict was very poor . Partner had traditional breatfast which was fine . Also found food pricy generally .
J. R.
The menu has changed and doesn't seem as much choice, for small meals particularly. Salads expensive. But other than that food very good. I had egg and chips (as a smaller option) and my friend had vegan shepherd's pie - home cooked and very generous portion.
s. S.
It's good to have a place. There is free parking near the beach
S. T.
This is a lovely gardens in Worthing West Sussex, it has a really nice cafe where you can purchase hot food drinks (alcohol if you wish) sandwiches and a lot more, reasonably priced and very good service
B. J.

E. P.
Such pretty gardens, a little gem just off the beach.
J. W.
Excellent roast beef & yorkshire pudding with loads of vegetables. Next time we will book if intending to go for Sunday lunch.Almost completely full. Good service & great value too!
P. J.
Being in a wheelchair and first visit, it took a while to find the way in! A few directions would have helped but once in all was good; ambience, space, drinks and food very pleasant.
m. m.
Lovely clean, tidy park, has toilets and cafe. Cafe very popular. Dogs, allowed.
J. H.
Nice garden, bowls were there also.
The cafe was very good.
S. W.
Lovely relaxing place to walk around or sit and watch the wildlife
J. A.
Very peaceful surroundings and easy parking. Will definitely be back very soon
M. T.
Great food, great staff so friendly and very patient. Very clean indeed. Xxx Maggie
L. W.
One of our favourite places to walk to with the family, we love the tranquility of sitting by the pond and watching the fish, dragonflies etc.
P. S.
A quiet hide away. A cafe, a bowls club, putting green and a garden with water feature (small).
Plenty of seating areas and some of the garden is in shade, so nice on a hot day. Across the road from the beach with a pedestrian crossing opposite. The peace was so nice.
K. S.
First time I'd been to the cafe since refurbishing. Comfortable and welcoming, seating indoors and outside - open every day! Excellent in this part of West Worthing.
W. D.
Stopped here yesterday as not been for quite a while.
Outside seating and tables, but we sat indoors as it was a bit windy. Inside had been done out and was a mix of tables and chairs and sofas; it felt very welcoming.
We had a Welsh rarebit and cod goujons and chips, a cup of coffee and tea. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, very good value for money. Everything was very clean. Will definitely visit again.
G. “. B.
It's a lovely small garden area with two greens. One is a mini golf green the other a bowls green. There is a small diner on there and a very small garden with a little pond and a fountain. It's a lovely garden but it's fairly small and well looked after. It's right on the seafront and near a small play park.
Y. P.
Great place for young families... Especially after lockdown.
S. M.
Just off seafront so easy to park. Parking free as outside zoning. Played mini golf and then had nice lunch in cafe while watching bowling. Lovely sunny day really enjoyed it.
A. G.
Nice little pond and places to sit. Cafe good for an ice cream and a drink.
C. R.
Lovely staff and good vibe all round. Thanks for looking after us so well Debbie!
j. m.
Pleasantly surprised when we visited for the first time, having driven and walked past on lots of occasions over the years. Nice park with water feature, outdoor lawn Bowling green and an excellent cafe/restraunt
J. W.
Tidy, formal gardens, designed for relaxing in or play mini golf
S. L.
Very generous portions, and presented well. Nice views of the bowling green and plenty of outside seating.
d. t.
Very nice place. Comfy settees and rustic tables. Food is average but quite nice. Good selection of cold drinks.
T. S.
Nice open space on the west end of the seafront
J. C.
A lovely place to walk or sit. There’s a nice cafe in there with polite staff and good, reasonably priced food. Watch boules. Putting. There’s a little pond with a fountain and fish. Well kept and clean.
R. M.
Very nice, clean and tidy.
Well worth a look.
J. M.
Almost hidden from the beach in Worthing. Lovely place to sit out in the sun on their decking with a pot of hot tea and a slice of cake whilst watching a game of bowls. When finished you can walk out, cross the road and straight on to the beach. Test and Trace forms are there, toilets, its just a nice place 😊 🙂 😀
J. R.
Lovely gardens and restaurant, and a spot of bowling to watch
J. W.
Nice to walk around with a coffee in the cafe. I just hope it doesn't get sold for housing. As much as we need social housing, we also need green space to walk safely.
J. M.
Well kept bowles green and club house
G. S.
Nice cafe, putting green, easy access for all.
J. W.
Not too shabby. I wish the council would plant some flowers or allow a local group or charity landscape the garden. It would attract more people and be good for people's welfare both planting and to enjoy the area. Or start a community allotment space so they can supply free food for the low waged.
d. f.
Nice, has a very retro, holiday camp feel. Pleasant environment, set in the gardens.
a. a.
One of our favourite places
Nice cafe too
D. J.
Nice public park cafe and bowling green
H. T.
Nice, reasonably priced café.
J. B.
Lovely location. Can take doggies there. A fab calm place to rest and reflect outside. Love the restaurant 😊. Really relaxing 😊
P. H.
Good decaffeinated coffee (latte) from the café. Sandwiches were ok and sitting in the sun by the bowling green peaceful. Marine Gardens is one of the more attractive places in Worthing.
V. B.
We visited Marine Gardens this afternoon. It is the third time I have been there this week. We were able to buy refreshments from the cafe and enjoy them in very pleasant surroundings outdoors (social distancing in place). The staff in the cafe were pleasant and helpful. It made an enjoyable afternoon out.
L. H.
Lovely areas to sit quietly on a unny day. I noticed a Cafe open on the other side of the Gardens, that visitors could purchase a drink or ice-cream.
C. H.
Small area, but looked after very well. The cafe there was ok but would avoid the bubble and squeak when ordering food as I have no idea what it was on my plate.
A. R.
Nice quiet little place. Cafe open now - looks line a good menu. Lots of little grass bits to picnic on although most grass areas given over to bowls and pitch n putt. Nice and close to beach.
T.
Gardens are looking lovely, fountain now working after 7 years thanks to the Friends of Marine Gardens ... Green bowls to watch and pitch and putt green, plenty of seating, restaurant and toilets. Wheelchair friendly.
P. B.
On a fine winters day during lockdown. A nice place to take a seat, relax with a cuppa from the cafe and the sun on your face.
During the summer, with restrictions removed, you can watch outdoor green bowling at your leisure.
Sunset on the beach opposite Marine Gardens enjoying a homebrew. January 14th 2022.
S. K.
Marine Gardens putting. Putting green for kids and adults. Inexpensive and well organised. 18 holes. Cafe and bowling green onsite.
V. R.
Always a great breakfast and friendly staff
S. A.
Lovely and relaxing.Nice fountain for a photo opportunity with the kids
k. k.
A good old fashioned cafe, serving drinks, ice cream and cakes, they also serve an extensive range of cooked food. The cafe is large and airy. You can also take well behaved dogs inside, so good for bad weather. Well worth a visit.
J. G.
Friendly atmosphere, good service and good food.
J. B.
Had a lovely home cooked meal here at a reasonable price. There are a number of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks together with tea or coffee. It's busy in the summer months so you may need to wait for a seat but well worth waiting for
I. R.
Plenty of space and benches to meet up in a safe way. The cafe does a wide range of takeaway food and drink. There are also plenty of places to shelter from the wind.
C. G.
A nice place to get something to eat, not flashy or upmarket. Just a good down to earth cafe. No toilets in the cafe , but some just a few yards outside. Cafe looks onto a bowling green and they have a small children's area inside with toys.
P. S.
Lovely spot on the sea front. Free parking. Public toilets. Very clean. Soap and hot water. Very impressed. Bowls club and cafe. Lots of seating.
r. g.
Putting green.
Old style 50,s-60,s cafe
Gardens and bowls to rear.
A couple of other reviewers have been down on the cafe, probably expecting too much.
End of the day its a cafe serving the usual fayre plus ice creams drinks etc which ive found fine.
Nice old school place.
Recommended.
V. J.
A really nice cycling/walking path alongside the beach. We usually park my car next to the 'Coach Parking' section at goring-by-sea and start here; go all the way across the worthing pier to the end of defined cycling path. ~ 3miles one way. There's a pizza place, couple of cafes, ice cream shops & a few pubs.
K. S.
Lovely little park to wander around, right on the sea front, mini golf, bowling to watch, a cafe to enjoy a drink, snack or meal, ice cream, all very nice but toilets could be better.
A. M.
Nice quite place, cafe for snacks and drinks, ideal for summertime, nice short walk around in winter.
S. M.
Food was well cooked and presented hot....staff were excellent decor has been changed and the seating arrangements so it was a good experience
C. B.
Great cafe. Run by great people! Really good food. Excellent, happy staff as well. Highly recommended.
A. B.
Traditional cafe good food and drink at great value. Comfortable in a quiet location. Parking nearby.
L. W. E.
Not great for cycling hard to avoid less mobile users
K. “. K.
Wonderfully, well kept gardens with a great cafe.
R. M.
Very peaceful & beautiful & relaxing
J. D.
Have a putt on the golf course, sit and relax watching a game of bowls or grab a snack or meal in the lovely cafe/restaurant.just a good place to relax.Loos rather dated, no hot water when we visited. Am over 50 and these loos were there when l was below my teens.
C. C.
A family favourite for years. Nice tea place. Ideal for lunch or just an ice cream. Toilets convenient. We go across to the beach for a few hours, can usually find free parking. Then go across for a snack or drink and toilet break.
P. L.
Lovely place to have a drink or lunch. Friendly staff and a great location
S. P.
First time visiting and ordered a couple of drinks & a snack. The cost of the items was reasonable. Had a look at the menu which was what you would expect from this type of establishment. Cannot fault the quality of the service we had due to my daughter having had an accident with her milkshake and knocking it over. The staff cleaned it up replaced the item FOC dispite me offering to pay which was most appreciated. Will be going back again but this time will order food.
J. U.
Lovely restaurant never been here before, very nice take away coffee and nice walk around the grounds.
Well be coming back, hopefully for lunch!
G. B.
Great bowls club and green
k. c.
Today(Sunday) my husband and I decided to have our lunch out. Having visited Marine Gardens for tea on a couple of occasions, we thought we would give lunch a try. I had roast beef and my husband had steak pie, both, absolutely delicious. Portions were enormous, with fresh vegetables, and amazing value for the money. The staff are very friendly, but professional, we look forward to our next visit.
m. m.
Very basic I had toasted teacake not toasted dried out my friend had cooked breakfast good but when she asked for gluten free bread they didn't have it .I would go again but would choose carefully .The bowling greens are lovely to sit and look out over while having a snack and drink .
G. V.
Andy was very welcoming, great spot for a cuppa a some food. Will definitely be returning 🙂
B. “.
Love this place. Cafe is dog friendly inside and out. Good food and good prices. The gardens are a nice place to walk around and it is kept up by volunteers. Well done to all.
S. P.
Didn't have the home made steak and kidney pie which was disappointing. Still enjoyed the egg, chips and salad tho. The portions are always very good. It would have been 5 stars if I could have had the pie.
T. R.
A rather ugly municipal restaurant damages the ambience of this otherwise delightful garden. A putting green in the front and bowls at the back provide much to see. It's unfortunate that the quite large reasonably priced restaurant has no washrooms? So one has to troop across the gardens to access them, shame.
D. S.
Always so relaxed and seats available to watch the bowls.
Interesting pond and good cafe. Also a putting green. Go most days when we have a walk.
D. G.
Nice place near my home. Relaxing to sit in n watch bowls n nice cafe and putting green. A team of volunteers hv done great work tidying it up and smartening it all up.
A. U.
Nice place to have little walk around. Opposite seafront. Nice plants. Not too big. Perfect for walk with elderly parents as not so busy either.
N. F.
Very nice, well maintained, public garden. Inevitable bowls green, but also a putting green. The cafe seems very 'canteen-ish', but serves good food.
Nice for a gentle stroll - even on a wet afternoon...
P. K.
Beautiful garden. Very peaceful. Restaurant is very good. All adhere to current lock down rules and wear masks etc. Feels safe.
L. C.
Me and my wife have just visited this place and had some lovely scones served to us by the gingersnap waiter, was sceptical at first with some of the reviews but cannot fault the food or service, my wife being Brazilian was even impressed by the gingersnapa attempt to communicate with her in Brazilian 😊 will be returning when next in the area. Thank you for a great afternoon
M. L.
Pretty little park with a very popular bowling green, mini-golf area, nice floral displays, (lots of lavender for the bees), & a fairly decent quite large cafe, serving the usual old school teas, coffees, breakfasts & buns etc, nice water feature & pond that often has tadpoles, & generally some kids smoking weed, (not sure whether that adds or subtracts a star), plus there are toilets although the gents is usually smelly, but at least they're open & functioning, stops the very occasional "day drinkers" that hang around from using the bushes as a urinal.
K. M.
Bowls are enjoying, putting good fun, beautiful gardens and the water feature is relaxing.
P. S. M. T.
I'm sure it's very nice in the summer.
J. D.
Nice location, £7:10 for a large latte and a milkshake. Watched the bowls (Sir Walter Raleigh) not soup!
P. H.
Nice bowling green and now a crazy golf course. Café moderate quality food with good prices. Some outdoor seating and plenty indoor. Free roadside parking not usually too busy. Seafront walks opposite with childrens playground.
z. s.
Pretty free location to sit and reflect. With boules, pitch and put, pond with fountain and reasonable cafe.
J. M.
Home cooked food. Basic surroundings but a lovely stop after a sea walk. You would need to know it's there otherwise you could easily miss it! Obviously well frequented by local people 'of a certain age'
J. M.
Yes, go here. Cracking value for money, kinda reminds me of a village hall - in a good way. The team were very helpful
P. L.
Great place to stop whilst walking a long the prom. Friendly staff and a big menu.
k. j.
didn't actually attend on this visit mearly walked past. On previous visits we have sat & enjoyed the sun-it can get busy

W.
Nice location and charming public space on sea front
D. T.
Excellent to watch the Bowls being played, the gardens are beautifully kept and great family fun on the Putting Green.
R. S.
A lovely little park by the sea with a cafe, pitch and putt in the warmer months and a fish pond which is lovely to sit by in the sunshine. There's a lawn boules club too, and often there is a match in play which you can sit and spectate.
S.
A lovely grounds to visit. Unfortunately the golfing was closed but not suprised as during the winter/spring season... the cafe was ok but as were closing shortly after we got there we did feel a little rushed..
m. w.
Really quiet place to visit and great to fly kites and perhaps eat out at the local restaurant. Just across the road from the sea front. Secluded and place to go to play Bowles
N. (. L.
Close to sea. Close to kids playground. Plenty of seating. Restaurant a bit old fashioned and plain, but plenty of space. Nothing wrong with food.
C. P.
Met a friend & walked to Marine Gardens, a tranquil place to sit & have a catch-up. People were enjoying the last rays of sunshine & watching the bowls.
S. S.
Lovely food, however not keen on the upgrade preferred how it used to be
D. G.
Well kept gardens. Nice restaurant doing good food where u can sit and watch the bowlers in action or do putting yourself. Pond area is v nice too. Always busy there as nice place
L. K.

A. W.
Love this cafe.....shame the council don't after having the loos closed after 4 so the cafe doesn't serve after 3 as they close at 4 now. Still a great place fir all the family and dig friendly too!
D. H.
We have been coming here for more than 50 years
Beautiful, green oasis, with a pitting green, bowling green, gardens and cafe. The gardens are not as well cared for as in former times, need tlc and a volunteer work force.
R. T.
Nice quiet park where bowls is played. The green closest to beach has crazy golf, with great seating to soak up sun. It's also sheltered from the sea winds
M. R.
Lovely breakfast at the cafe, nice place to eat , lovely grounds
C. B.
Very nice spot for lunch. Tuna salad was lovely. Plenty of seating indoors and out, with pleasant surroundings.
K. M.

S. m.
Lovely place to walk around with the family
p. s.
Good for a quick break
N. N.
Staff seem freindly enuf wen servin. Th staff that walk around dont realy speak much. Even tho th tables seem to b wiped down n kept clean th tables r a tad sticky. I saw 2day a member of staff wipe down numerous tables wiv th same cloth n no water or anti bacterial spray. Th amount of cleanliness that needs 2 happen n doesnt needs 2 b addressed by management n watch how ther staff work. Also most staff hav long hair i dont know th bout chef/s but if it was my restaurant id make it mandatory hairnets 2 b worn in n out of kitchen this wil eliminate hair found in customers food .
J. B.
