Love this park. Best Park in York. The play park has a big choice of apparatus for all ages including a zip wire! The woodland walks and benches are all stunning it's like stepping into a scene from a tombraider movie ! And the cafe is so reasonable and friendly. The entire park is very well kept too. We've never seen any litter or dog foul in sight and we go about twice a week.

I regularly go to West Bank Park to walk dogs that I look after for friends. It has open spaces and cool woodland for when it's hot. And the cafe puts out bowls of water for thirsty dogs. A great place to spend some time.

Kids playground doesn't have much in the way of equipment. The grass in a lot of parts looks exhausted. However, the park is generally clean and tidy.

West Bank Park is a great place to find a good mix of birds, the greater spotted is Woodpecker was heard and often seen rattling after grubs in the old trees last year. Volunteers keep the park looking good, I met a botanist pruning back the grapevine it yields small and tasty grapes in season so watch for them before the birds get them. I was amazed two years ago when I came across fungi in the woodland area and began to photograph the different types and kinds. Two years on and I still see new species and have amassed hundreds of snaps in the park alone. Play areas sit at one at each end and are popular with the families who visit and there are secluded areas to sit and rest if you have walked around. There are bowllng greens and an orchard was introduced recently and is doing well.

With a basket ball pitch at the top and of the park, a woodland walk to the side. Football posts on the grass land and a large play area and picnic benches the park has all you need for a Great day out. Very Calm place. Less people know about this place I guess that is the reason😇. Fun swings, horses etc for small kids to basket ball court for grown ups. Nice area for walking as well. All in all an underated place😍. If you want a peaceful place to unwind with kids or partner or just wanna enjoy your own company moveover Rowntree park. Try Westbank.

I liked that you could go into the areas without tarmacked paths and the hill with the trellis was very pretty.

Smallish local park that provides great contrasts. Part standard Corporation style areas with generous fenced children's play contraptions and twin flat bowling areas coupled with the unexpected. The park contains a wild but managed area that was a showcase for the Backhouse Nursery a mini "Kew Gardens of the North" . As such, there are very mature unusual trees and shrubs that were collected early in Queen Victoria's reign. The park has Green Flag status which it wears very lightly. You have to identify the rarities for yourself.

What a Beautiful park.. decent size car park to.. although can be filled quickly if there are bowls matches on.. and there is a trend for a selection of youths hanging around riding bikes.. but then what public park doesn't have that.. overall very pleasant.

West bank park is a wonderfully well played out park with something for everyone! The two play areas that are aimed at different ages are at opposite ends of the park, allowing everyone to feel comfortable. There is also a rose garden, woodland area, open space including a small football pitch and a couple.of bowling greens.

I take my dog to the park most days. It's not far from home and is a peaceful, tranquil haven where my dog can explore and I can listen to the birds in the woodland area. A great place to meet other dogs and their owners

Great historic park of York. Good play park area mainly aimed at under 11's but the big swings give the older ones something to do in addition to the other areas. Usually an ice cream van visits the side of the park to offer refreshments too. Good basketball court that is underused so free most of the time. Mini football pitch for any age to. Perfectly manicured lawn bowls pitch for the members. Nice grassy open and wooded areas make this a nice place to breath fresh air and escape into nature. Nice little promenade takes you through a well maintained flower garden right at the heart of the park too. Also usually a summer fete held throughout the park each year in July.

I have just started walking dogs and my first walk I decided to take my new buddy here. Of course you have to keep dogs on the lead which isn't a problem for me, aside from the amount of squirrels and how much dogs love chasing them with me attached 😛 it's a lovely park with a great woodland area to walk dogs in if you don't mind being dragged around after wildlife!

My disappointment in Victoria Sax-Coburg Gotha's nose was greatly mitigated by the utter profusion of wild squirrels in the woods. Bring nuts! The park has lots of secluded nooks enabling a variety of perambulations. A very pleasant spot.

A lovely day and 2 walks in the park. Clear seasons are marked well with the flora and fauna changes and Spring is a particularly special time with wrens, goldcrests nuthatches tree creeper's robins and crows. New life marches in and the woods are just transforming with new Leaves, Bud's, insects bluetits, flowers and birds. All contributing to the spectacular push of new life.

A well-kept park located between Holgate and Acomb. Parking is available across from the park or on the road. The play area is ideal for toddlers as there are several swings. The play area is fenced so children are well protected. There is also a woodland area for leisurely walks.
