Having just completed a 100km run in the Peak District, Andy was fundamental in my success. Working with Andy he provided me with a personalised 12 week plan that was varied, flexible and easy to follow. I actually loved the training. I also had 3 1:1 sessions that focused on my technique which definitely played a part in completing the very long distance ! Thanks Andy!

I've been attending the HIIT and Run session for the past 6 months and have found them really useful, in helping improve my running ability. The sessions are well structured with with varying drills to warm up, before heading off for the main part of the session which is clearly explained, the full what we are doing, why we are doing this and how this will benefit your running. Followed by a good stretch at the end. I have also had a personal training plan from Andy for a 50 mile Ultra event I had entered. This was a well delivered personal plan mixing in all the various aspects of training I specifically needed. As well as taking in to account work and home life commitments, not just a case of go for a long run at the weekend like you will find on the internet. If your looking to improve any aspect of your running regardless off your ability, I would highly recommend Trail Run West Midlands.

Would highly recommend! I did a 10k ten week training plan, 4 sessions a week including hill reps, strength and HIIT exercises and some slower chatty pace runs. Andy is brilliant at motivating you and has depths of knowledge, so you maintain form and motivation on race day and when out on your own. The hill reps of the training sessions were the hardest, but felt the most beneficial, and really paid off on the uphill stretches of my race. I would class myself as a casual runner, but when it came to race day the training showed, it allowed me to overtake a lot of runners that I didnt expect to beat, and I achieved a PB. It was great! 😀

I first met Andy when trying out his Sunday morning HIIT group training sessions with TRWM which are hard work but thoroughly enjoyable. His enthusiastic and knowledgeable approach gave me the confidence to ask him to provide a personal training package to help me achieve a 50 mile running event I had entered.
Following an initial review of my needs and capabilities including a 1 to 1 fitness assessment (recommended) he sent me a series of 4 weekly structured training plans covering the different workouts that would enable me to achieve my goal. We had a discussion each month about how my training was going and what I could improve or focus on. I was also able to contact him in between if I had any questions.
Andy is easy to talk with and provided valuable guidance (including on equipment and nutrition) as well as some much needed encouragement that got me through my training. I am pleased to say that I completed the 50 mile event as planned. I recommend his services to anyone who wants to improve their running and would like a professional and supportive coach. Thanks Andy.

Andy helped me to set out a plan and follow it despite the fact I work shifts and had a busy few months training at work. He had in mind that I had an existing injury and helped me work on my mental game. I enjoyed the training runs so much that it almost didn't feel like training. Highly recommend!!

I've always run from a young age, however I needed a new challenge. I wanted to go long but with age creeping up on me I wanted to do it properly. I approached Andy and haven't looked back! I've learnt ultra running is not all about running, there's conditioning and weights, and even yoga to incorporate into the programme. Always injury prone, but since training with Andy I've remained injury free and loving life!! I even came 2nd as over 45 in The Lap... It's all down to following an individual programme 😊. Thank you Andy 😊

I met Andy a few years ago at The National Running Show. I had been running regularly for about 8 years but had not really progressed during that time. I was getting bored of my my usual road routes and needed a new challenge. I signed up to a swim run event which demanded fell running experience, having never really ran on trails before, I decided I needed some expert help!
Andy set me up with a training plan and provided me with some exercises to strengthen my core. We had great fun during our sessions, mainly laughing at my lack of balance and coordination!
Andy was patient, supportive and encouraged me to up my game! He is dedicated to what he does but he's also a genuinely all round nice guy!
After a few sessions I noticed an improvement in my running technique and my confidence on the trails developed. I would not hesitate to recommend. Thanks Andy!

Did an Introduction to Fell Running Workshop at Long Mynd. Was really enjoyable with lots of tips and opportunities to practice them. Suitable for all levels. Andy was friendly and keen to help everyone. Best recommendation I can give is that it has made me want to get into fell running.

I first contacted Andy for a session with him purely working on my downhill technique. I had signed up for the Lakeland 50 Ultra and after doing some running in the Lakes realised that my downhill technique needed work. I booked in a session, however, it was snowed off, then lockdown hit. While in lockdown I realised that I needed more structure to my running and support knowing kind of session to run when and how hard/far, otherwise I might not make it to the end of the Ultra – something I was desperate to do. I then had a really helpful chat with Andy and asked him about coaching options. There were lots of different packages, which was brilliant as I was able to pick the best one for me and my circumstances. Andy was very realistic when I spoke to him about my aims and goals and was really clear about what he could help me with and what I would be able to achieve (he didn’t sugar coat it!) and the hard work it would take – when I said I hadn’t even run a marathon at that point I wasn’t sure he thought I would finish the Ultra and I think he thought I was crazy!
Andy provided me with monthly plans, each tailored to the part of the cycle we were in and taking into account my commitments throughout the month. They included long runs, speed/hill sessions, details on strength and conditioning sessions and Aerobic running – so important for Ultra running. As well as providing the sessions for each week he also helped with the theory behind the training, which really helps understanding the why what training, when. I really liked how I didn’t need to think about which sessions to do each week – just when, with work being so busy it took the stress out of training. Andy also checked in with my frequently, (especially at the end of a cycle), asking how things were going, how I was finding sessions and how I felt after long runs. He was also there when I had questions about kit, nutrition, injuries and other running related queries. He is so knowledgeable, but also has a large network of experts to ask about areas which aren’t his specific expertise. I found it so reassuring to just have someone at the end of the phone when I had missed a session and wasn't sure what to do, or didn’t feel great and didn’t know whether to run anyway.
One of the most useful elements of being coached by Andy was how he helped me reflect on my long runs/important moments in my training (first Ultra distance, first trail race etc). It was invaluable to have someone to reflect with and help me think through mistakes, learning points and improvements for the future.
I also loved my 1 to 1 training session with Andy on downhill technique and felt so much more confident and assured by the end of it.
By the time it came to my Ultra I felt confident, prepared, ready and fit and that absolutely was down to Andy’s coaching. During the event he even texted me with encouragement which was a massive boost and lift. I am proud to say that I finished the race and felt really strong throughout and especially towards the end...a testament to Andy and his ability to prepare me mentally and physically.
I am now thinking ahead to other challenges and goals and I am really looking forward to working with Andy to achieve these...if he’ll have me (!) and put up with my crazy ideas (like running a hard trail Ultra when the furthest you have run is 16 miles!).
If you are thinking of getting a running coach, do it and I unreservedly recommend Andy!

Although only working with Andy for a relatively short period of 2 months, in that time he has helped me improve my running strength through a tailored Triathlon training plan including HIIT, S&C and stretching sessions as well as the regular swim/bike/run activites.
Results speak for themselves as I raced at Outlaw Half last weekend (middle distance 70.3) and was able to run a PB for the half marathon off the back of a hard effort on the bike!
Andy's approach is very much no nonsense, whilst reassuring. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
