I had heard about CCW from a postgraduate student I was mentoring as a Senior Lecturer. So when I wanted to retrain I knew that I wanted to work with CCW. Having just completed an ILM Level 5 award in Leadership and Management, I was really impressed with the quality of tuition I received at CCW. Mike and Glen’s backgrounds meant they had a wealth of experience from which they could draw on real-life examples when delivering the course material. I found Careers Change Wales online when I was looking for a provider who could support training through the ReACT scheme. Although I am based in North Wales, from my initial telephone conversation with Harri they couldn’t have been more helpful and very quickly offered up a solution to be able to accommodate my training. In my case the training days were either very small groups or one to one and the trainers were able to make the training work really well for that environment. Having been made redundant after 25 years I approached Mike (Tan) with the training I thought would be most beneficial. He also recommended the Institute of Leadership and Management Course for me. My general experience with CCW was all very good and I enjoyed the lecturers, fellow students and CCW staff; really looking forward to every days training. The ILM course covered diverse but none the less useful areas which I immediately used in CVs, interview presentations, starting my new limited company; and will put to use in my new job. The Health, Safety and Environmental sections were comprehensive and well summarised. The MS Excel course was good and Mike Aubrey took the time to help me with some advanced topics which weren't on the syllabus after the end of the day I attended the Primavera P6 Professional Advanced Rel 8.2 which was a 2 day course lectured by Richard Collins who was very good. The venue was 150 Southampton Row. You no longer get a hard copy of the Oracle course manual which leaves me with a lot of admin after the course. Also most other delegates had been on the preceding 3 days and the exercise projects followed on leaving me a relative mountain to climb. Overall the 8 days training were very worthwhile and a valuable use of time within the period when I wasn't being paid when you have to prioritise.

In August 2019 me and Anže attended an erasmus+ project which was held in Wales where we stayed for about a month. During this project we met many people with good intentions and a vast majority of knowledge that they passed on to us. The context of the project taught us the basics of organizing, a lot of new advanced English and work safety. We also learned a lot about people skills and about us in general. We stayed at Mike and Jane’s house and they were both very welcoming. While we were there we loved to talk with them but besides that we also had the privilege to taste their tasty cousine and even learn some basic karate. I came across CCW thanks to a “French-British” career development programme and as a foreign applicant, I was worried having eventual language misunderstanding. My assumptions were totally wrong as all tutors I met were patient, passionate and with a hard willing to transmit their knowledge. They came across programmes with a clear guideline, took time to summarize notions and complete explanations with useful and real-life examples mostly tailored on customers’ requirements. Also, the small group classroom allows a rich semi-bespoken training with dynamic interactions where tutors can readily manage their time and target clients’ expectations. I was especially impressed by the quality dispatched during the courses of management, communication and IT (HTML/CSS, MS Office) on which I assisted. But CCW is not only about quality courses and professionalism. I attended The Surveying and Setting out course at CCW in October 2012. I was very impressed by the setup. Facilities are excellent, the standard of teaching was very high and easy access and parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. I attended Career Change Wales in January of this year, during this time I completed an endorsed ILM Management Training for Managers Course, and also a ECDL Microsoft Powerpoint Course. One of the benefits of attending these courses at CCW were the small class sizes, which helped all students to get so much more out of the course. Following redundancy I recently completed the i-l-m management course and ECDL Level 1 and 2 with Career Change Wales (CCW). I had never used Powerpoint but thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I have used word and excel in my previous job I felt that in order to seek further employment I needed to upskill my IT skills. I was amazed at how little I actually knew about the programmes. Richard the trainer was enthusiastic and went at our pace never rushing us and making sure we knew what he was teaching. We were given extensive notes to follow so that we could practice at home. Harri, who is the office administrator, was always on hand to remind me of dates and to help by providing me with resources and support. Before we sat the ECDL exams we were given refresher sessions where we sat ‘mock tests’ with Daniel who was extremely patient and supportive. He took as long as we needed to understand anything that we were unsure of. The i-l-m Level 3 Award courses run by George, Andrew and Dr Glen Patterson were full of fun and interesting topics. I felt that the i-l-m courses would give me the confidence that I needed in my quest for further employment. The training at CCW was relaxed and friendly tea, coffee and biscuits were on offer most of the day and a choice of lunch was provided also. I am now working again thanks to Mike and his professional team. I would highly recommend training with CCW. Another plus is the location CCW is conveniently situated in the center of Cardiff with easy access.

I can not recommend CCW highly enough. I have been on many many courses in my time, and a lot of in house training; But without a doubt, there is no one better out there at this minute than Career Change Wales. Following redundancy, and having worked for my last employer for over 20years at a good level of Management i had no idea what to do next or what my options could be. Its a situation i never thought i would find myself in and was totally lost on where to turn or what i had to do. The Job Centre i visited were very unhelpful and treated me with no respect or could not be bothered to offer me anytime (even though they could see i was still in shock and felt totally out of place being there) or advice apart from you must apply for any job, when all i wanted was to find an employer who could offer me a 'career', especially with the many years of experience i come with. I decided to take some time out and get some more up to date qualifications, and contacted CCW. I contacted them first via email, then i followed up with a phone call where i spoke with Mike. He asked for me to pop in for a chat. This turned out to be one the best decisons i made. After having a horrible experiance with the Job Centre the day previous i left our meeting already feeling motivated, upbeat and ready to take the next steps forward. We decided that ECDL Level 2 and Productivity in IT and an ILM in managment would be ideal for me. The ILM included Leadership and Management, Understanding Ledership, Customer Care, Marketing, Time Managment, H+S and Business Planning. Mike and his team are second to none. Very knowledgeable and always on hand to support and offer advice. I spent many weeks there on various courses at CCW and enjoyed every day being there. Harri, who works with Mike was very helpful and gave extra advice and support to help get me through the ECDL. All the trainers were outstanding and worked at a good pace and did not move on until all understood what had just been explained. From Richard on the IT course to all the other tainers on the ILM really helped me and nothing was ever too much. If i needed extra advice or support for my work they were always more than happy to help. The passion and creativity from everyone fed into me. It filled me with drive again, and a motivation to move on and to find an even better job than the one i was made redundant from. With the way the days are set out and and the brilliant people training you i passed all the courses i took :-) ... After being out of work for some 4+ months I have recently found that job and i put this down to Mike and everyone who helped me CCW to get there, as i may still be feeling down and unable to find the job that was 'right' for me. Having worked within the Training Industry for 13 years plus, I had extremely high expectations regarding the level of service I expected from CCW and can honestly say from day one my expectation were not only met but also exceeded in every way. I cannot praise the team highly enough for their level of support and commitment. The training courses were fantastic and I loved every minute. The sessions were relevant, interesting, engaging, and educational. The subject knowledge of all tutors was exceptional and the ongoing level of support was outstanding, prior to, during and following the courses. Following redundancy from the public sector, I secured 'REACT' funding from Welsh Government to undertake some retraining. I was made redundant at the end of April and the Jobcentre only mentioned the ReAct funding in September, which did not leave a lot of time to get the application forms sorted before the 6 month time limit was up. In my search for a training company I phoned Career Change Wales and spoke to Mike Tan. He invited me to come straight to the office and have a chat. I found Mike to be very enthusiastic and very helpful. We decided the best course for me would be the ILM Management for Managers course. Mike put me in touch with somebody from Careers Wales and by the following morning all the paperwork had been completed and posted. The course was very good and the trainers were excellent. Lots of useful information, not just about management and leadership but also tips on how to get a job, interview techniques etc. The groups are small so everybody gets plenty of attention. Lunch is provided which is very good and there is always plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. There is secure car parking. I can recommend CCW to anybody out of work and looking for training.

I was recently made redundant and was left wondering what courses to do using the ReAct training grant. A colleague mentioned she had been to Careers Change Wales and had signed up for an ilm course. Having been a manager for a large chunk of my career but not actually having a management qualification I felt an ilm course would be the best choice along with some Microsoft Office courses so I made an appointment with Mike. When I arrived at CCW Mike was waiting to greet me and made me a coffee, he asked me what courses I was looking to do and what my experience was. After a discussion Mike said he thought the ilm Management Training for Managers course would be the best option and having read through the course content I agreed, I also signed up to do Advanced Word and Excel. I opted not to do the exam for the ilm course but that was personal preference, as I’m not good at exams. I went into CCW feeling nervous and a confused as being made redundant leaves you with a lot to think about but I came out with a smile, feeling relaxed and knowing that Mike genuinely cared and would do anything he could to help A week later I was on my way to my first day of the ilm course and all I can say to anyone who is thinking about doing the course is DO IT! I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt so much and also have changed the way I think about and would deal with certain things, which for me is amazing as I’m a tough nut to crack when my mind is made up, thanks Glen. There was no just sitting there listening to someone talk for hours it was all very interactive which gets the old brain cells going and as the classes are small you get the personal touch I have recently completed the Advanced Word and Excel and I thoroughly enjoyed these too, who knew Excel could be so interesting. Richard that runs the courses makes you think and goes at a pace that you are comfortable with. I am now the queen of pivot tables and tabs! I can't say enough good things about Mike his team and even though I have finished my course, I know Mike is there if I need any advice or help with applying for jobs, I don’t think many training companies offer that Thanks to all at CCW! They were familiar with the ReAct funding and were one of the only training centres nearby to me that did courses over a short space of time (this was a must in order to get the ReAct funding as they want you to get back into employment asap). Harri (Admin Assistant) was excellent and helped out with the dates and info, Mike was very friendly and helpful when I arrived for my first day of the course. I decided on the ECDL Level 2 as this seemed to be on a lot of Job Person Specifications whilst looking at job advertisements. The course tutor Richard was brilliant and enthusiastic, with only 4 pupils to teach he went at a speed comfortable for everyone, made every point easy to understand and there was plenty of time at the end to go over anything you weren't sure of. Lunch provided was delicious and tea and coffee on tap! I have learnt so much and have used my newly found knowledge in every Microsoft application I use. 3 days, my course training was finished, exams completed and off to start my new job.
