t. d.An excellent Maritime Museum, where one can still watch people building their boats downstairs. Upstairs there is an extensive collection of maritime artefacts, books and pictures ; including Pierhead paintings and the White Ensign of the R.Y. Britannia.
T. G.What a brilliant little space. What a fascinating half hour I spent chatting to the volunteer on site. Superb if you are interested in boat building or the like.
M. V.On a wet and windy August bank holiday afternoon , I wandered into the Nottage museum. What an absolutely good move it was. Totally enthralled by the regular exhibits and informed by tales of east coast sailing history. A white ensign belonging to the king was worth climbing the stairs . The well displayed story of the Cap Pilar was superb , inspirational and I thought the personal insights were quite moving. All in all one of the best afternoons I've had all summer. Who needs the telly?
