Rob Rees is a first rate strength training coach. He blends professionalism with a really engaging personality to help get the very best out of yourself. With a wealth of experience he is able to design well thought through training programmes to help you achieve your goals and I have really enjoyed working with him. His focus on safe, consistent technique makes for a very trusting relationship. Add into the blend the famous Physical Culture Gym with a superb array of high quality equipment and a forward thinking owner and you have effectively Iron Nirvana in London. Despite moving to Portsmouth I have maintained my membership and travel regularly to train at PC, benefiting from Rob’s tutelage - it’s THAT good. 5* is underselling it, this gym and the team there are one in a million.

Hi I would like to leave a review for the Small Group Strength Training at Physical Culture Gym. This group is run by Rob Rees who is one of the best coaches in South London when it comes to strength Training and conditioning, academically and practically with his power lifting experience he makes a great coach who strives to get the best performance out of his clients by instructing them with bespoke methods to bring out the best in the client, he is very clear and precise with his communication and breaks everything down so it is easily understood.
I was pleased when the PT'S decided to do this course specially at the cheap price of £20.00 a session and that's 1.5hrs to start which is a bargain, considering Robs Fees for one on one are £60.00ph no other gym can compete with this price and expertise by this team.
Supporting him in this group is James and Luke who are also great trainers who also bring there skills and knowledge to the team top that with one of the best equipped Gyms in London you can't go wrong.
So if you are into strength training and want expert instruction come and join us so you can become best you can be.

I can’t recommend training with Rob Rees enough. Robs knowledge on strength training is phenomenal. Training and learning all about strength training from Rob whilst at Physical Culture has been awesome. The gym is brilliant and I’ve learnt so much.
I would recommend to anyone who wants to learn how to become stronger and who may be a bit nervous going to a gym, attend the group sessions that Rob hosts. I guarantee you will learn loads and will love the gym too

Rob originally taught me how to lift weights a few years ago, but due to some health issues, I needed some accountability to get back into it. These Saturday sessions are perfect! Rob excels at describing and modelling the movements needed to lift well so that you can really understand what you are supposed to be doing. Due to his vast knowledge and experience, he can adjust any exercise to what suits you best- you are never left doing a movement which doesn’t feel right or you are uncomfortable with. The class is small and well structured, with everyone going at their own pace and weight limit. If you are a total beginner or need a refresher course, this is the class for you.

The best gym I've ever been a member of. The kit is amazing, lots of comp standard and a thousand things you don't realise you need in your life until you've used them. Culture is fantastic and you will improve as a lifter by osmosis.

Hands down the best training experience in London, truly the best place to learn the fundamentals of strength training.
Why I gave five stars:
- Friendly welcoming team, very good at working with beginners and the more experienced
- Quality - As a corporate trainer I know quality instruction and can confirm the team are highly skilled. They deliver easy to understand instructions in small digestible chunks ensuring high quality learning.
- The groups - Made up from people of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes. The groups are small, this ensures high quality instruction but also easy to make new friends with similar goals.
I really can't rate the classes highly enough, not flash and overpriced like Crossfit, but welcoming, interesting, fun and what's more, these are proper coaches, not like the PTs in chain gyms with cereal box Qualifications, Rob, James & Luke are the real deal.
Book yourself in for classes, you'll be glad you did.
