We have now used Dr AJ Yates on three separate occasions to train staff here at WSA The Communications Agency. We now have 6 fully qualified Mental Health First Aiders on site thanks to the efforts of AJ.
I can not recommend AJ highly enough, he has managed to create a learning environment that is safe, professional and ultimately productive which is a fantastic skill given some of the topics of conversation and the content he delivers. Every question is dealt with in a thoughtful and considered manner and each attendee is given an equal voice within the group. He really is a master at making what could be a very complex topic easy to grasp.
Invest in the very best for your people always. Dr AJ Yates is top of the list for anything health, mental health and wellbeing related.

I have just completed the MHFA England Mental Health First Aid Course facilitated by Dr.AJ Yates. In my view it is an excellent course. It is very well constructed and reinforced with relevant support materials, including exercises, videos, work-book manual and details of resources. All this presented and facilitated expertly by AJ. As a result I and my fellow participants have acquired some very practical skills and developed our attitudes in line with the best of current practice. Great credit to AJ and MHFA England. I highly recommend this course and this teacher to anyone who would like to raise their awareness of how to identify and best support people with mental health challenges.

I thoroughly enjoyed my mental health training course with AJ, he helped me to understand the right course of action to take if you come across someone in a mental health crisis/if they are suicidal. The course also helped me to understand my own mental health a bit better and how to get others around me to deal with my anxiety. As a recent university graduate, it was refreshing and beneficial to have mental health training as well as physical first aid. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I will be passing on everything I learnt to my friends, family and loved ones.

I've recently attended a Mental Health First Aider refresher training as it is over 3 years since my original training. I did both with Dr AJ Yates and wouldn't hesitate to recommend either him or the course.
The refresher was a succinct reminder of the 2 day course and helped to ensure that I was remembering everything and equally to update me on any changes from MHFA England.
AJ is a great trainer with a calm, patient manner and is able to bring out the best in his participants so they feel safe to contribute and participate in what is a sometimes difficult subject.

I highly recommend AJ for First Aid Training! The sessions are upbeat, memorable, enjoyable and impactful. I was engaged the whole time as the learning was broken up with practical elements, examples, conversation and informative slides. It was great to have a trainer that is enthusiastic and passionate! AJ takes time to ensure that you fully understand, allowing you to ask questions and not feel silly for doing so. AJ was great at demonstrating what to do, and makes sure that as a team you all feel comfortable working together. The materials and equipment are great, and acting out scenarios really help you to put your knowledge to practice - without feeling under pressure. AJ's personality brings so much energy and fun to the training!

I asked AJ to deliver some Mental Health first aid training at the college, AJ discussed our requirements and suggested the one-day Mental Health Champion course as this met our needs not just for students but also for adults, the course ran very well with lots of information via PowerPoint and also the workbook and manual given as part of the course. the subjects were clearly explained and AJ drew upon the group's knowledge and experiences. the course was comfortable and informative. The knowledge shared was beneficial to both work and outside and I left confident I could support someone should they need help but also who I could refer to

Professional, friendly, accommodating. Put everyone at ease, especially first time first-aiders unsure of what to expect. Good sense of humour made for a much better experience. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the training - not something I've ever heard after a training event! Highly recommend.

I attended the Mental First Aid course with Dr AJ via the College of Medicine and found it to be a very worthwhile way to spend 4 Monday mornings.
I definitely have more knowledge regarding mental illness and feel even more equipped to help others.

I’ve just attended AJ’s online mental health first aid course (MHFA England) and am so glad I did. Before the course I thought I knew quite a lot about mental health – and I did – but I still learned more. And I’m now much more confident that I could help someone who needs mental health first aid.
I enjoyed being an active participant on the course, although it wasn’t without its challenges. Some of the topics we covered were quite difficult for me to listen to and talk about because of my own past experiences, but AJ was incredibly supportive. When I ‘admitted’ to having a wobble he got in touch to make sure I was okay.
Really recommend this course.

I recently attended a Mental Health First Aid 2 day course run by AJ. The course itself has some really informative content and AJ's knowledgeable experience and examples made it a really interesting 2 days. It has certainly made me more aware and I have come away with some useful learning points from the course, along with a comprehensive handbook to refer to.

The Introduction to Mental Health Workshop was excellent. It is clear that AJ Yates has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this field. He was able to make the workshop relevant to everyone and dispel some of the myths surrounding the subject. I would highly recommend this workshop.

I attended a 2 day Adult MHFA England course run by AJMH Ltd's Dr AJ Yates. This course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider. The course was excellent. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in mental health or perhaps a role where they deal with people who have mental health problems. eg within HR.
The topics you cover are sometimes challenging to understand perhaps due to your own beliefs but Dr AJ's calm, considered and thoughtful manner as trainer makes sure you felt comfortable at all times whilst learning about appropriate tools and techniques to use and resources available. I personally feel much more confident and able to support people following my attendance on the course. I highly recommend both the course and Dr AJ.

You should do a course!
Really interesting and helpful course. I did the 2-day. We all know people affected by mental ill health, so to know we can be of help, and have some idea how to be so is really good; I got this from the course.
Excellent instructor, comprehensive manual provided, a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Nice extra to have lunch provided.
