Alex is an excellent PT and truly catered to my individual training needs. He asks the important questions such as goals and which part I would like to work on. As someone with a hectic work schedule, Alex always manages to be flexible with timings which is crucial for me and also includes multiple different training that I could do throughout the week prior to the next session. He is receptive to my energy levels and knows when to push which I highly appreciate. I would highly recommend Alex's expertise

I've been doing personal training with Alex since the end of Summer 2021. I confess: I hate exercise but I knew I needed to have a health programme to remain healthy and to tone up. I was keen to find someone who would help me achieve those goals whilst keeping me on target. Above all I wanted someone who would be personable, friendly and encouraging.
Alex is all of these and more. Though I am never going to fall in love with the gym, my sessions with Alex are nevertheless enjoyable because of the good humour, conversation and fair approach to my training. He is balanced and fair in his encouragement but also pushes me. As soon as finances permit I will increase our sessions to twice weekly which is testament to his style!

I 100% recommend working with Alex, as the impact of his training has been so epic! I had my first baby two years ago and put on weight which I couldn't lose afterwards. Add in 18 months of the pandemic, work schedules, old injuries and sleep deprivation - I was getting nowhere with getting fit and felt stuck, so I decided I needed a professional. I found Alex on a Google search of Nottingham personal trainers, and signed up. I've never been a gym goer so I was very nervous about going, but Alex was friendly, welcoming, very easy to talk to and receptive to my goals- i wanted to use exercise to make me feel stronger, improve my mental health, and to lose some weight if possible. I had only intended to work with Alex for a month...but I'm now happily signing up for my third month as my life has changed so much for the better that I want to continue the roll! I have so much more energy, my outlook is positive, I can run up the stairs at work without losing breath, I've lost almost a stone already in two months, and I feel strong, vibrant and healthy. And my arms, for the first time in my life have gained actual muscles! Working with Alex is fun and positive, he pushes you just enough to make gains but in a very supportive way. He's very easy to get along with and inspires you to keep going. I've gone from being intimidated by gyms to looking forward to going in to workout and lift weights. Everyone should work with Alex!

Alex is a friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable personal trainer. I did my personal training sessions and my own workouts at the sherwood gym. I found this helpful. Alex gave me advice on the equipment and different techniques and weights suitable for me personally. My goal was to lose weight and although it is a continuous journey, Alex has really helped me with weight loss and the confidence to continue to keep at it. I have seen the results of my hard work and his guidance. I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Alex, he is a great personal Trainer and genuinely nice guy.

I hired Alex for personal training for weight loss. He was able to help me via video sessions. He has mad skills. He kept me motivated, I lost the weight I wanted to lose, and I learned a lot of skills to keep me on track.

When I started training with Alex, I was 82.5kgs, quite unhealthy and badly out of shape. I knew I wanted to lose weight and how much but I didn't have a clear direction on how to work towards that goal or the confidence to work towards it. I felt unfit, overweight and unhealthy, it was affecting my confidence quite a lot. I searched online for the best personal trainers in Nottingham and Alex's name popped up, he had good reviews and recommendations and he responded promptly to my message. We met up and started training soon after that. I chose to start training with Alex going by the strong recommendations I read online. And I have continued to train with him because of getting results. I have lost a stone, am more in shape, feel better, have gained confidence and most importantly I have the right guidance and direction in working towards my goals. Alex is a true professional, he is always on time, and he keeps bringing me back into focus. I have made good progress in terms of inches lost and how much weights I can lift. He guides firmly but in the best way, giving me the confidence that I've always struggled with. He is invested in his clients, gives them his full attention and gives realistic, practical advice - including nutrition and doing other activities. Having him as my trainer is like having an equally invested team-mate in my quest.

I have been training with Alex twice per week for just over 5 months now and I have been really impressed with his training and delighted with the results I have achieved - I've lost 18 lbs and 19 inches, plus seen a huge improvement in my strength and general fitness. I would highly recommend Alex as a trainer; he's motivating, very knowledgeable and knows how to push you to achieve your goals. He has also achieved the impossible - he's made it possible for me to enjoy going to gym! I'm now happy with my weight and shape but I certainly intend to continue working with Alex towards new goals - including dead lifting my own bodyweight!

Alex has been training me throughout lockdown, and I can honestly say it was the highlight of my day! We trained in a park at the height of winter, in the cold, the dark, the rain, the wind and even the snow (!) and I was looking forward to our sessions even in these conditions. He quickly assessed my fitness levels and steadily ramped up the training without me even noticing! We quickly established a rapport and I enjoyed chatting to him during our sessions too (when I could breathe!). I’m an avid gym goer but kept one of our sessions even when the gyms reopened - Alex gets me, knows what my body can and can’t do - you can tell he has a wealth of experience and knows his stuff inside out. I decided I needed a personal trainer as I had been a runner before but had been diagnosed with MS and had, had to stop running for a while. Once I had gotten better I found it hard to get back into the swing of exercise and didn't have the same enthusiasm, as I had gained quite a bit of weight. I wanted to lose weight and tone up as I had a holiday booked and wanted to wear a bikini for it and I didn't want to feel self conscious about my body anymore. I found Alex on Google and saw that he did personal training sessions through 'The gym' which was really good value and had good restrictions on the contract you would have to take out to go there. Reading though peoples testimonials about Alex you could see that he got good results and seemed to get on with them, through how they spoke about him. I decided to contact him and I spoke to Alex initially through email and over the phone, he was polite and thorough with his questions about how fit I was, what I had done in the past and also knew some information about MS.
Alex didn't pressure me to join 'The gym' but suggested it would be a good idea to rather than getting a day pass as it was so cheap and would help me do sessions on my own which would help my fitness. When I first meet him he was friendly and we talked more about things like diet, supplements and what sort of results I wanted from him. It was very helpful and informative as Alex sent me information about how changing my diet could help towards my MS and the diet wasn't as restrictive as others I had been given in the past. Also his philosophy of being good 80% of the time and having fun with the other 20% also meant I could have cheat moments which has helped me stick to the diet and training. Doing the actually training has been good fun as Alex has given me a mixture of exercises I can do myself while also pushing me to work harder when I have sessions with him, I have joked in the past that these sessions are working as afterwards I always hate him a little bit and the pain lasts for a couple of days. He is also very encouraging and if he finds any new information for me he emails it to me. We meet up once a week depending on our timetable, I have been seeing Alex now for two months give or take and with the diet and training sessions I have lost a stone and on our most recent session I was 10 stone 9 pounds. I am so happy with the results and I can't wait to get into a bikini for the first time on my holiday as I have never had the confidence to do so before. Meeting up with Alex has meant I've lost weight, toned up and lost about 13 inches from my body. I love the new me and am so thankful for the help and new lease of life.

I met Alex at The Gym around three months ago when I first took his stability ball class (which I highly recommend!). After a few classes I decided to take some personal training sessions with him, I chose him above the other trainers because he is motivating and was committed to helping me achieve my goal. I wanted to tone up rather than lose weight and I only had a small time to achieve this as I would be going home for the summer. He started by measuring my body fat which I found really useful and then we began on weekly weight and core sessions accompanied by his class twice a week to reach my 20% body fat target. Alongside this he has also helped me with my long distance running technique in preparation for Race for Life in June. So far, so good, I have noticed a massive improvement with my tone and general fitness, I wasn’t convinced when he assured me it gets easier with practice but it really does.
His jokes might be terrible but Alex is knowledgeable and passionate about fitness and this really shows, he is eager to help you help yourself and is patient and encouraging (he puts up with me even though I whine constantly) I will be sad to leave him over the summer but as soon as I’m back I will be continuing my sessions with him!
