Reviews of Focused Running Coaching

Over the last 6 months I have worked with Simon to improve my running technique whilst following a bespoke training plan.
I feel fitter, heart rate has lowered and my speed increased so I am now ready for a targeted marathon.
I would highly recommend Simon to any runner who wants to improve their technique, fitness or prepare for a running challenge.

I can't recommend Focus Running enough. Over the course of 6 month's, Simon's coaching improved my Running technique that in turn improved my endurance. I was able to run a lot more efficiently. All of my stats improved and the training plan Simon put together for me was brilliant. Simon is very professional and his passion for Running really motivated me during my training.

I highly recommend Focused Running. I started with movement analysis to work on my gait. As a result I've transitioned from a heel led strike to midfoot which has unexpectedly led to resolving an ongoing calf issue. I'm now using the coaching service as I prepare for my first 100 mile race this summer. I'm looking forward to seeing the results, having never followed a well structured plan before. The sessions are a good mix of strength and long runs to give me the best possible chance of racing well in the summer.

Simon was passionate about improving my running, he took time out from the plan to understand why I was experiencing a niggle and then refocused us.
It was an excellent experience, he explained everything well to ensure it was understood, and reinforced this with questions when reviewing videos.
My running style is very different to the one I started with - as is my running pace. My easy runs are around 20 seconds per KM faster for what feels like the same effort - win win.
Thanks Simon.

Old dog new tricks - I have been running for 20 years and completed multiple marathons so you would think I would know how to run. Simon’s detailed analysis has identified problems with my technique that I “knew” but didn’t do anything about. Working on my technique and simple changes and exercises to activate my glutes has made a real difference to both my running and speed walking.
Simon is easy to get along with, communicates well, listens to my concerns and has targeted the training to my needs. I would fully recommend Focused Running.

Had several sessions with Simon, where we started by resetting all my bad habits I'd developed over years of marathons and ultras. Each session built on the last with thorough video analysis, programs to follow in the weeks between sessions, and regular phone/text followups. At every stage Simon was 100% positive, adapted where necessary based on my feedback and performance, and kept me focussed on the long-term plan. I heartily recommend Simon's coaching for everyone.

Focused Running have transformed my running technique, my runs are more relaxed, smooth and with far fewer niggles, all meaning I can run further!! Highly recommend anyone looking to improve their running technique to get in contact with Si.

Simon at Focused Running really has help me develop more speed and endurance and has dramatically reduce the risk of injury.
I cannot recommend him and his services enough if you want to learn to run, develop your technique or nurture a new found love of running. 5****’s 👍

I had recently become involved in ultra running. I have always been a competent runner but ultra running is a different game completely especially with the different terrains you find yourself on and all of a sudden you are dealing with massive elevations. My biggest problem was my calves, constantly suffering from shin splints and excessively tight calves. This is where Simon has completely transformed my running experience. I was seeing a very reputable massage therapist who was doing a fantastic job on my calves and I could run pain free for a couple of weeks, but then the pain came came back and I was sidelined again. Simon (who became my coach after he won the Ice Ultra 2020 race, one of the toughest races on the planet) told me he could solve my calve pain by changing the way I run. I must admit I was very skeptical at first, how can changing the way I run cure my shin splints? How wrong was I? Simon spent days observing the way i ran and identified that my calves were doing all the work and my hamstrings were doing nothing. Simon explained to me that by making some small adjustments to my running style i could use my hamstrings to power me forward and not be so reliant on my calves. I have now ran pain free for nearly 18 months and I could not be more grateful to Simon for coaching me through this process. Abolishing my calve pain is just the tip of the iceberg. The difference Simon had made to my running is life changing. I could tell you his secrets but if you want to know how Simon can transform your running experience you need to hire him. And every penny will be the best you ever spent!

Highly recommended! Very professional; great to communicate with and always 100% encouraging. I spent a year balancing / managing various injuries so approaching Simon for some coaching was a bit of a risk. With advice on my technique (done from phone videos I’ve made on the treadmill - because I live in Turkey and couldn’t get back to the UK for 12 months due to restrictions) he developed a programme to include the duration and at the right intensity (I had previously been going too hard and burning out) some glute activation and fast footwork. It was really good to have a structure to my training and to see results. Within a few months my heart rate / effort was improved and I was noticeably more nimble on my feet- less Frankenstein in my technique.
