Luke is by far the best personal coach I’ve ever been with. He’s a thorough professional, very kind and understanding person.
When I decided it was time to make some changes after crossing the three-figure mark, I started looking for a personal trainer and came across several of them; what made me choose Luke is his approach to the whole process. From the initial discussion itself I’ve realized Luke is the right coach for me! The initial questionnaire he shared made me introspect about what went wrong in my two earlier failed attempts at the gym to reduce weight.
Soon I realized it’s not the weight I should reduce but the fat, and it’s not just about cutting down a few kilos in a short span but developing a healthy and sustainable lifestyle which is exactly what I was lacking. Through his journals and 1:1 chat, Luke has made me realize the mistakes I made earlier and set out a plan for how to improve and recover from the obstacles that one would face during the journey. I never understood the importance of calorie tracking and the importance of a balanced macro diet until I met Luke!
The training approach was tailored to suit my requirements/body. In the initial sessions, he emphasized the importance of bracing and the use of proper techniques, which are the cornerstone to building sustainable and injury free training. The subtle changes he recommends to the posture, or the movement could do wonders; trust me on that! I’ve hit and knew the muscles which I never knew existed before. It’s been 5 months since I started training with Luke, and I’m standing at 88kilos, which is more than 14kilos from where I started! I feel more confident, and I could feel my strength has also increased considerably, all without starving or doing an insane amount of training.
If you’re looking to make a change and want to embrace a sustainable and healthy lifestyle, you won’t find a better partner than Luke to walk you through that journey!!

I’ve been working with Luke for the last 4 months to achieve my health and fitness goals, and it’s been a very positive experience. I was looking for a personal trainer after an injury over a year ago while I was exercising, I’d been to a physio and chiropractor but I knew I needed to find someone who could help with making sure I trained correctly and also to build up my muscle tone and strength without further injury. I originally came to GymHippie in search of some much-needed structure after lockdown. I have always been into exercising to feel good, but I simply didn’t know how to progress on my own. I also wanted some no frills advice on how I should approach my diet to build muscle and tone up, as the fitness scene is shrouded by misinformation. It's so hard to know where to look! I have been coaching with Ben for a little while now, and I only have positive things to say about him! I started training with Luke because I wanted to lose weight and get fit. His approach appealed to me since it was about changing my mindset around my nutrition and fitness. I has tried losing weight on my own through diets and found that I put it all back on in a couple of months.
Luke has helped me to set realistic goals that focused on nutrition for weight loss and cardio and resistance for body shaping. This meant that I have been consistently losing weight since training with him, while feeling motivated enough to keep up with my other life goals. We definitely push it at the gym, however my programme is built on a foundation of good technique and whole body workouts. Earlier in 2021 I was ran over by a car and consequently I ended up spending more than 6 months in crutches. In that time I had put on a lot of weight and that is why as soon as I recovered I reached out to Luke/GymHippie.
Weight loss has been a constant part of my life and I am one of those people who have tried everything (Slimming World, Keto, Intermittent Fasting, gym classes etc.). All those efforts have always helped me reduce weight but only temporarily. This time I wanted something different, something more permanent.
Before reaching out to Luke I followed him on Instagram and the advice he was giving on stories resonated so much with me. I knew that he can help me where I want to get to and stay there - I was right!
One of the biggest teething issue with him was his request of keeping a diary - I dreaded it! But, then he asked me to start with something small. So I started with recording my daily weight in an app which led me to start recording my calories intake and then my water intake - voila! Breakthrough! I suddenly gained more control and this mindset changed was everything I needed. Luke doesn't ask you to starve and sweat dead on treadmills - he ask for small changes and those small changes has led me to keep my weight off. I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted from a personal trainer when I contacted Luke. I knew I would need some accountability to help keep me on track with my goals, and Luke seemed like someone who was well matched to what I wanted.
He describes himself as more of a coach than a generic PT, and he has certainly Lived up to that.
What particularly resonated with me about Luke, is his approach to fat loss and changing eating habits.
I’ve never bothered with a “diet” because I don’t see the point in temporarily adopting a different eating pattern to shift some weight, and then ultimately return to a way of eating that got me into bother in the first place.
Luke is absolutely of the same mindset. He encourages and educates to help change bad eating habits into good healthy sustainable habits. Without banning anything that would typically be considered as bad on any fad style diet.
His knowledge of strength building is second to none. He’s taught me that maintaining and strengthening muscle is a key part of reducing fat.
Luke had helped me with a training programme which is slowly and steadily building muscle in target areas.
I wasn’t particularly confident about starting this process, or even taking on a PT/Coach. But since getting the wheels in motion with Luke, I certainly have no regrets. 3 months in now and have no intention of stopping any time soon.

My knowledge on weight training was fairly limited when I started searching for a PT and I was initially drawn in by the GymHippie “Fundamentals of Fat loss” E book which I downloaded for free on their website before investigating personal training further. I was particularly drawn in by their approach to training and fat loss which emphasizes getting stronger and fitter, and not just getting skinny.

I had tried several ‘personal trainers’ over the years but found them all to take a rather blunt force approach to what can often be an extremely complex problem. In essence, it was always just ‘eat less, train more’, a simplistic approach that I personally don’t find sustainable.

I worked with Luke to identify aspects of my diet that were negatively impacting my goals and adapting them to be more goal supportive. This didn’t mean completely stopping things that I enjoyed but instead learning how and why they impact my body so I could make better, sustainable, choices.
Training is tailored in a similar way, in that your body and abilities define the plan. For me there were flexibility issues that would mean some traditional exercises weren’t suitable or sustainable. As a result, Luke provided alternative exercises that suited me better. These tailored exercises mean that I am not only achieving better results, but more comfortable doing it.
Overall, my experience working with Luke has been brilliant. The process has led to learning and changes that will likely serve me for years to come, and I would absolutely recommend Luke to others.

After many years of prioritising my career over my health, I wanted a personal trainer to help me regain balance. If you are looking for an effective and sustainable change Luke is your guy. After years of physio and osteopathy treatments, weight loss plans and failed fitness attempts I decided to try one more time before I finally give up. Having been very active and fit for most of my life a combination of hip and knee injuries that required surgeries, and hectic professional and family life I found myself entering my fifties being constantly tired, overweight with chronic back and hip pain. There are a lot of fitness trainers and diet and wellness experts but very few offer an integrated solution. I have to be honest, I was reluctant about starting a new program as this was my first experience, but I wanted to give it a go.Thanks to Luke, I had my best experience ever! Luke made me understand what I needed to do to shape my body but also how to train properly in order to achieve my goals. Luke is lovely, very friendly, but most of all, he is super enthusiastic about what it does. Understanding the person and what motivates them is fundamental to the way Luke works, which is great, and you really feel invested in, and like your overall well-being is what comes first.
Luke is a great person to have around during training sessions, and is clearly very knowledgeable and well respected in the gym. This definitely helps make you feel comfortable, even during the initial stages where he might have you in some unusual positions with a resistance band!
I’m really pleased with the progress we’re making, and it wasn’t long after we started training that colleagues, friends and family started to really notice a change. The principles that we stick to are so simple to follow, and really once we set up a calorie budget and a training plan it’s just become part of my normal routine.
Signed up initially for 12 weeks, but no intention of stopping training with Luke any time soon, excited to see what we can achieve in the future!

I have been training with Luke for about 6 weeks now. I came across Luke's training approach in a spin class he led at Buzz gym and I really enjoyed his style of teaching and motivation. I have been suffering from chronic lower back pain for many years and after the first lockdown I felt things got much worse. I feel as though I should preface this by saying that I find the gym an entirely necessary evil. I, like I'm sure many others, don't particularly enjoy it and I sometimes find it hard to motivate myself to go. However training with GymHippie has helped me to enjoy the gym again.
I'm quite active but I tended to stick to classes and having Luke as my personal trainer has really helped in boosting my confidence in the gym. He frequently changes up my routine to make it more interesting and makes me work really hard without acting like a drill sergeant. If I'm strugglig with a particular exercise he will adapt it without question. He's easy to talk to and puts you at ease while you're training so often I leave the gym not realising how hard I've worked.

I have been going to Luke at GymHippie since October 2017 for personal training sessions! I didn't join to reach any particular fitness goals but more to invite positive change into my life after going through a difficult time. I wanted to not only feel more positive but to also feel more body confident and to feel more energised. I also wanted to structure a healthier eating pattern which was more nutritional.

When I started coming to the gym, I didn’t have any direction, focus or structure in relation to what I was doing when training, and tended to just do the same exercises day in, day out, because they were comfortable. I’ve learned a bit about health and fitness so I’ve been working out on my own for a while but then I started to get bored and frustrated as I wasn’t getting anywhere close to my goals (weight gain). As a young guy in my 20’s I want to look and feel my best. I found GymHippie through Buzz Gym. Originally Ben caught my eye because we are similar ages so I thought I would be able to relate to him right off the bat more than the other PTs there.
With Ben's guidance I have made awesome improvements to my lifting technique and relationship with food. My quality of life has improved massively since I started training with him and I am excited to see the progress to come.
I have a busy 9-5 job and while I do care about my health and fitness, it is definetely not one of my top priorities. Ben accepts I am busy and that I can’t dedicate my life to getting leaner and more muscular as this in itself can be a full time job. He respects my time and meets me where I am at. I particularly enjoy this aspect of the training because he helps me get to where I need to be while encouraging me to train independently outside of PT sessions. He also gives me the confidence to take control of my eating habits, which haven’t been the best in the past. I feel totally empowered.
