After deciding on a change of career, I needed to pass my D1 minibus licence so contacted Tilston Training to help achieve this. Sam was more than helpful. From their online courses with case studies I passed my theory. When I arrived for my driving, Sam initially ran through some videos and asked me questions and then with no messing about we were out on the road. After a good session of driving we returned to go over the dash cam of my drive. Sam pointed out my 'points of interest' to work on then back out and go again. I was so impressed that I was spending so much time driving and not reading. Today I went back for my test, but beforehand went out with Steve who again, like Sam highlighted little things before I had my test. Along with passing I also took my CPC test and again passed. I can't recommend this great company enough. The whole team there make you feel important and not just a number. Your success is their success and that personal touch is a great quality to have from a business these days. So thanks again guys, you made the whole experience a pleasure with the constant reassurance you gave me. Here's to the future 👍👍👍

I couldn’t recommend Tilston Training more highly. I decided to proceed with them after being recommend them by many of my friends, reading their reviews, and also the competitive prices they offer, in comparison to other firms. I was worried with not being from the area, that this may disadvantage me in my driving, but they show you many routes on your test drives and explain the area well, so this wasn’t an issue at all and was definitely worth the journey to train with them. I had a 2 day course where I got taught by both Gary and Steve who are both really down to earth and put you at ease. I felt very prepared from their teaching and expertise, and was able to complete my test first time, I can’t thank them enough!

A thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish! The professionalism at Tilston training is untouchable. From start to finish I found that I was taken under there wing and was motivated daily to pass my C+E test. All the team are kind and welcoming; a brew was waiting to be made for me everyday upon arrival. I can not recommend Tilston enough! I had a really bad time with some North West companies who weren’t very helpful and just wanted to take your money, then a colleague recommended Tilston and I spoke to Sam; Sam was extremely helpful helping me with what I needed before I went for my practical, and what the course would entail, I had a clock on my back due to my course starting September and the earliest dates Tilston had were September so I asked Sam to let me know if they had any cancellations (which she did) and they got me in a month earlier so now I have y of time without the worry of time! On arriving I was greeted by Gary who would be my instructor, Gary introduced himself and was very re-assuring and informative, he took me out on my lessons and put me at ease the whole time with his obvious tenfold experience which ultimately increased my confidence, Gary gave me solid feedback back in the classroom reviewing the dash cam footage of our drive (I was worried it would be a lot of classroom, it wasn’t and it was a valuable experience to see your driving from a different perspective) and helped me understand my errors. Ultimately the environment was welcoming everyone was nice, professional, and funny (which helped relax nerves) a lot more affordable than all of the other companies who I enquired with who are charging on most occasions nearly double! and you can tell it’s a wholesome family run company I would 100% recommend (which I have done) and should I need to add anything else to my license I won’t hesitate to come back Thank you!

From initial contact I can not fault Tilstons training. I made an enquiry online and the reply was personalised to myself and not generic like other training places. We had been looking for a local training centre for caravan driver training and nothing really ticked the boxes so we looked further afield. It was almost a 2 hour drive from home so I was hoping for good things. I am chuffed to say that we had a great experience and Andy was a legend. I was concerned that we would get a stiff tutor that may have made our visit hard work - couldn’t have been further from that. Everyone we spoke to or passed were polite and jovial. We found Andy extremely knowledgeable, very personable and experienced in caravan management! The fact he talked us through what we needed to know and included his own experiences- both good and bad put us at ease from the word go. Everything you need. From start to finish, everyone at Tilston Training made the journey easy. Sam and Steve are wonderful. The instructors make you feel comfortable, the teaching styles are fantastic and the way they allow you to learn whilst accommodating all learning styles is perfect. What a brilliant couple of days. Just completed a practical caravaning course with Justin as the instructor. Relaxed, extremely knowledgeable, really informative and patient. Anyone new to caravaning or returning to it after a few years off would benefit from this course. Second time i have used Tilston Training. Absolutely spot on! Done my B+E with them in 2017 and recently been back to do my C (Class 2) and came away with a pass first time! Very reasonably priced compared to other places. From initial phone call to getting a pass certificate was effortless, Sam organised everything, just told me where to be, at what time and it’s was all done before I knew it. After a not so good start with another local HGV driving firm I’m so pleased I was told about Tilstons. I had some bad experience trying to pass my D1 with a different driver training centre, but I passed first time with Tilston. Their instructors are great; they're able to get you test ready at the same time as making you a better all round driver, and ensure you're set up for success - I couldn't recommend them more highly!

I can not recommend Tilston Training enough, booking the course was easy. Lovely family run business. I was expecting a classroom based course and was so happy that the course is mainly driving and getting used to the vehicle. The first day I had Sam who was lovely and made me feel comfortable straight away. After every drive you watch it back thanks to the dash cam, which was great. I had Steve the next day who again was lovely and made me feel at ease, taking me on various roads and test routes. The course is excellent value for money and I am so glad I chose them. The only word to describe this company is phenomenal! From the first phone call to the driving lessons, everyone was so welcoming and kind. I had Steve as my main instructor who was incredibly reassuring, calm and knowledgeable. Each lesson I had with Steve I was always learning something new and driving on the test routes. Afterwards, we would shortly go to the office at the Tilston depot and watch clips from the dash cam fitted to the van. It was really useful to see where you went wrong, or what can be improved. The company itself is extremely organised and the upmost professional. I liked how they had an office at their depot as you can have your break/lunch there, and it has good facilities including a toilet and kitchen. It was refreshing not having to worry about organising tests, as Tilston gave me dates for the test and lessons, and they did the rest. Tilston have an examiner who comes to their depot, so there is more test availability with them. I did my C1 with Tilston, so I drove their Iveco van which is a fantastic machine, the gears are smooth, the steering wheel is light, and it has good visibility. If I could give Tilston a 10 star rating I would! Massive thanks, Garry, Sam and especially Steve! A phenomenal company with fantastic instructors and a professional approach.

Started my training Thursday 12th of may for my D1. Two guys helped me through it, Steve & gary, absolute gentlemen and top class trainers. Very patient, helpful, made me feel at ease and relaxed also had a lot of jokes and banter, but anything I was doing wrong or bad habits etc they were right onto it and on the ball and would have no hesitance on pulling on me on any mistake or bad drive technique. Steve especially was fantastic, had great banter and laid back mentality but also got his points across and made sure I was at it. If I never done my training with Steve I don’t think I’d of past. Things have stuck in my head since Thursday and it it made me fly through my test today with 2 minors. Thanks to them I am now a holder of a D1 licence so from the bottom of my heart Thankyou very much for getting me through it. Firstly, Tilston's offer a fantastic servcie at an extremely competitive price. I was being quoted between £1000-1500 for a 5 day course. At only just over £600 and having their OWN on-site test center, they offer much better value for money and its only over two days. You practice your reversing manourve several times at the same place your tested at which is brilliant, and this leads them to having a a very high pass rate in that respect which lets face it, we all want to pass first time. The instructions are very easy going and relaxed which helps to calm any worries you may have. The driving itself is pleasant enough - you drive hear there and everywhere all round Wrexham on all different roads giving you some knowledge of the area and possible routes you may go on on your test. After your first drive, you go back to the yard and they go through the dash cam footage with you to see if there were any potential 'minors' you would have scored and what you need to change. Overall, i highly recommend Tilston Training. I wouldnt have changed anything about the two days i spent here, it was very positive and encouraging and i passed my C1 test first time, allowing me to start my new job in September as a student paramedic. Thankyou very much Tilston's, I will send anyone i know wishing to obtain their LGV/HGV your way ☺️☺️☺️ 110% service!

What a brilliant experience! It was a long time coming with Covid preventing the training to start but credit to team, they kept me well informed. I was somewhat anxious having never pulled a trailer before and the assessment clearly highlighted that I needed work on reversing. I was told I needed 9 hour course, which I thought was on the steep side...until I started start doing the actual training. Time flies when you are having fun and the trainers are extremely thorough. Not only was I able to reverse the trailer into the space confidently by the end of the training session, I was very confident driving with it. I was elated by the time I left the training day! Come the day of the test, I arrived back at the site for a quick refresh and felt ready! As the school have everything at site, your exam starts there. This is a massive confidence boost as you know what to expect. I passed the exam and very pleased with everything! Thanks to Tilston Team, cannot recommend you enough!!

I was recommended Tilston Training by a colleague a few years ago who completed his trailer test with them. The time came for me to do mine. The whole process was super easy. Booking was simple with Sam. Steve did my assessment to determine which course I needed to do and gave me enough to think about in-between. Andy did my main day of tuition and was superb with his tuition and Gary did my last practise to recap what I'd learned, before my test. The guys were great with their advice and tips and prepared me well for the practical test. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone thinking of getting B + E license.

Really enjoyed my time training for my C1 with Tilston’s. A lovely family run busy. Everyone was friendly from booking to passing and made you feel confident in what you were doing, not how to pass a test. Started off with a briefing watching clips to identify gaps in knowledge (no matter how good a driver, there will be something!) This was extremely useful to give you a couple of hints and tricks before starting out on the road. The use of dash cam footage which we rewatched in the training room made it a lot easier to identify mistakes (as often it’s hard to remember, or needs to be seen from a different perspective). The fact they have their own DVSA approved site is a bonus in helping you to feel as relaxed as possible when taking your test. Thanks again to Sam, Steve and Gary!

Travelled from Newcastle Upon Tyne last week to do my C1 with Tilstons. Wednesday 1pm to 4pm, test 1 complete and a few hours of driving the vehicle. Stayed in a local Premier inn 7 minutes away for £35. Thursday 8:30am, vehicle driving with multiple breaks to refresh before my C1 test at 1:15pm, finished and passed first time by 2:30pm. The Wrexham instructor was also lovely. Back home with the driving qualification I needed and in time to watch Boro beat Man United🎊 Family run, they were all lovely and supportive, extremely helpful with information before I travelled down and amazing support during the training. All in all I saved about £400 by doing the round trip (even including petrol and the hotel) Availability with Tilstons was much better compared to multiple months in other locations. The 390 mile trip was worth it and I 100% recommend this company to anyone. Thank you both 🚑

I had been wanting to take my B+E test for some time but thought it would be expensive and wasn't aware of anywhere local. A friend pointed me towards Tilston. I visited for a short assessment drive which involved some trailer reversing and a local drive to assess my driving style and bad habits. I then booked in for a half day training session which was very informative involving some time in the classroom with illustrative videos and two driving sessions. The staff were very knowledgeable and professional throughout. The test was undertaken from the Tilston training centre with a DVSA examiner. Having never towed before I thought some training to be important. My car can't legally tow more than 3300kg (car and trailer), so I felt the B&E Test wasn't necessary for the time being and opted for the caravan towing 3hr session. Training covered all aspects of towing and every question I had was answered fully. The instructors were calm and patient and reminded me of the fundamental principles when things went a little wrong. I left feeling confident I could tow the caravan as long as I kept these basic principles in mind and stayed calm. A few days later I brought a caravan home and did 3 point turn at the bottom of the cul-de-sac before reversing it onto my (tight) drive with no issue. The training was worth every penny and I can see me going back to do the B&E test in the future.

Before covid I used called a company closer to where I live, I was quoted 900-1200 pounds from start to finish, anyway covid put everything on ice, July 29th came and I couldn’t remember the name of the Company I first used, so used google and this company came up, so called spoken to a lady called Sam, as silly as it sounds I hate speaking in the phone but I was put at ease and quoted half the price of another company based in North Wales. Relaxed I actually learnt a lot everything booked for you, on the day of the test just turn up with a pen and my license (although I still managed to forget the pen) passed!! After booking a B+E course with a company closer to home (Crewe), their training not giving me much confidence and not being able to take the test due to a fault with the vehicle, I am glad that I found Tilston Training rather than re-booking with the original company. Tilston Training got me in for a brief assessment, checking my reversing and on road driving. Then offered a course split over 2 days with the test (taken at their own premises) on the second. The course was well structured with a theory section covering certain aspects of the highway code with some dashcam images to illustrate each point. I was then taken out to cover uncoupling and re-coupling the trailer and carry out the reversing manoeuvre. I went out onto the road for a few hours and felt very confident with the feedback I was getting. On the second day the practical was run through again, followed by the test which I passed with 3 minor faults. It made sense to book with Tilston Training and benefit from their location. With the other company I was driving over to Wrexham in their vehicle/trailer, which meant less time on the usual test routes. A large portion of the test was taken on roads that I had been over with the instructors which made for a more comfortable experience. I had also made sure I got to Wrexham an hour or so early on each visit to have a drive around and increase my familiarity with the roads which paid off during the test. If you are after a well priced course with friendly and professional instructors, then look no further.
