Joining Podfit is one of the best things I have done. I struggled in the bigger gyms as I found them very daunting so I gave up but the staff at Podfit are friendly and genuinely interested in helping me improve my fitness. Either personal or virtual the sessions are fun and tailored to my ability. I would recommend Podfit to anyone looking to improve their fitness.
Very professional but relaxed at the same time, great environment to build confidence and ability, i have thoroughly enjoyed my membership and couldn’t recommend Podfit highly enough! So much so i have introduced friends of mine to them! Alex my PT makes me feel at ease and has helped me achieve things I wasn’t capable of before. Anybody starting out with exercise should 100% begin here, it is worth every penny!!
I can't thank Podfit enough for their fantastic service and commitment to the customer. Jack is incredibly motivating, tailors his advice and session structure to your personal goals and abilities, and has enabled me to achieve all of the goals I initially set out last November. Neil has also been fantastic in making sure I feel welcome and appreciated each time I see him, and it is clear that he values the customer and their progress over providing a bog-standard PT experience. Couldn't recommend enough!
I am now approaching my 1st year anniversary at Podfit and can't say enough how this has now become an inclusive part of my life.
After many years of not being in the gym I took the decision to get back into a more fitter structure finding that although I have a very active job I was starting to put on a little weight and had to take decisive action!!
I joined the semi private sessions attending the studio and well coached by Neil and then lock down came. Podfit became more diverse moving to virtual fitness.
This has worked so well for me. I can pick which session is best for me (sometimes 3 a day!!) The fitness trainers are great and work around your abilities and can still advise on technique. It is more convenient as being at home i can get straight back into the housework/work from home etc. I can also fit many sessions around my working life. I have since met many new virtual friends. I would highly recommend Podfit whichever way you decide to keep fit.
I've been having 2 sessions a week for over a year at Podfit. The trainers are all fantastic - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and motivating. Every session is different so it's never boring and being taught the proper technique for a huge variety of exercises has improved my at-home workouts too.
The studio is well-equipped and as there are only 3 pods, it's much more private than a gym and you don't feel that anyone is watching you work out. Everyone is friendly - trainers and clients alike, so you quickly feel comfortable there. If you're looking for somewhere for personal training sessions, I would defintely recommend Podfit!
The one on one training and support is the best I’ve experienced. As all the equipment in the pod is for your use exclusively, the session is very efficient and productive. No waiting around to use equipment and everything is thoroughly cleaned between appointments which is extra reassuring in the current pandemic. The trainers really know their stuff and adapt around you so it feels like extremely tailored training. Since going to Podfit my mental and physical health has come on leaps and bounds. I’ve got energy and I’m way more focused and productive at work too. I reckon an hour at Podfit is at least 3 times as productive as an hour in the gym alone. Who am I kidding, I’d never be as productive training alone!
I have been a member of Podfit York for a few weeks now and absolutely love it and have great fun with my personal trainer Alex Wales.
I have been a member at other gyms before but I soon got bored and never pushed myself and soon gave up.
This is the first time I have had a personal trainer and would highly recommend it.
Alex encourages me and pushes me ( in a nice way ) that bit further and because of this and discussing food and meal plans I am seeing results in my body shape as well as losing weight which is fantastic.
I cannot thank Podfit and Alex enough for encouraging and helping me with my weight loss and fitness journey x
I have been training with Jack for 5 months now and I would definitely recommend Podfit. I am feeling stronger, fitter and have gained back my confidence to go to the gym alone. The private sessions mean no self-consciousness like in a public gym and I am pushed to my limits every session. Definitely get my money's worth.

Since starting at Podfit 5 months ago I have seen a big difference in myself. I see muscle tone in places I didn't know I had muscles lol, I definitely feel fitter and stronger, my inner confidence has grown too. Never liked the thought of going to the gym before as I felt intimidated, Podfit is perfect, the trainers are all great and they set fitness session for each individual. I would highly recommend Podfit to everyone whatever your goal is.
Podfit benefits from a great city centre location, the individual training pods are well equipped for all your needs and the changing facilities are always spotless.
My goal was to build my strength in my core and put on some muscle to prevent my back pain getting worse, and this is by far the first place that's truly understood how to help me get there. The exercises are always fun and varied, I feel like I'm challenged the right amount and because of it I'm seeing RESULTS. The bit that I think really sets the Podfit family apart though, is that that's exactly what it is: a family. The trainers are so invested in their clients - they celebrate our successes with us, motivate us during our setbacks, give us challenges to keep us focused between sessions, and loads of advice on equipment so I can continue my training at home too. And if that wasn't enough they also coach us on nutrition as well as our personal exercise goals, in addition to providing plenty of online support in the form of recipes, daily challenges and so much more.
For the first time in 12 years I feel like I'm in the right place to get where I want to be; I've found my fitness family.
Final note: as I'm currently writing this review during the covid pandemic, I'd also like to stress that their adherence to social distancing and cleaning measures whilst training is second to none. The inclusion of multiple zoom classes throughout the week focused on specific aims was also extremely well done too.
David is a great personal trainer. He tailors the sessions to be able to challenge me but also to increase my confidence in my own ability. I would highly recommend Podfit and feel very comfortable there, everyone is so friendly. This is so much more than a gym, David advises on diet and lifestyle choices and helps me set challenging goals that I would never have even thought about doing on my own.
I had a goal,(to lose weight and get fitter), but was struggling with momentum and motivation.
I gave Podfit a try after a suitably friendly and comprehensive chat with the owner, Neil.
I decided to go for it and committed to 3 sessions a week for a year!!!
My PT, Jack, quickly understood my needs, limited capabilities and has steadily helped me to start my personal journey. He is friendly, supportive, extremely knowledgeable and has proven to be a tremendous help with both physical fitness and, just as importantly, nutrition. He does not make it feel like a traditional gym, more of a friendly club of likeminded people, all shapes, sizes and ages. I actually look forward to going!!
I have noticed my eating habits change for the better and am feeling so much fitter in a relatively short time.
I thoroughly recommend Podfit, whether it be short number of sessions or a long term health and wellbeing strategy.

Having tried numerous gyms and feeling uncomfortable and disliking the experience and never actually seeing results I decided to try a 6 month membership with Podfit. I was matched with Tom, who is brilliant, I have lost a considerable amount of weight but also feel happier, fitter and stronger. I really enjoy the sessions as they are always different and fun, I have finally learnt to enjoy exercise. Tom checks on my diet and sends me workouts to do at home and is always on hand for advice and tips when I need it, he has given me the motivation and accountability that I needed. I cannot recommend Tom and the team at Podfit enough, its such a great/fun atmosphere to train in and everyone who goes seems to get great results! I love it so much that I have decided to extend my contract for another 6 months.
The support from Podfit has been amazing. I love how training is completely tailored to me as an individual, and I am always given encouragement to achieve the goals I set for myself. Even if I’m having a bad day, there is no judgement and the sessions help to combat loss of motivation. The small nature of the gym means that I can really focus on my workout, as before I found Podfit I was always felt intimidated and out of place in regular gyms. I have not stopped raving about Podfit to everyone I know! Podfit is the perfect environment for achieving health and fitness goals, and I would highly recommend this service!
Tom has been an excellent personal trainer, always encourage you and attention to detail, not only work with you through training but also focusing on your food diet. I have joined Podfit after my first baby and joining with them again after I had my second one. Will definitely keep going and keep fit.
Tom is a great personal trainer and the sessions are all designed to make sure that I hit my own goals. I have had great progress so far and am much stronger as a result. The gym has private spaces, each with it's own set of equipment which is great if you don't want to be on show. Convenient place in York centre and sessions can start as early as 6am meaning that I can get it done before I start work! 5 stars - definitely recommend!
What a great place.As a very unfit woman in her 50's I decided it was time to take myself in hand and get fit. Podfit is so welcoming even to a gym novice such as myself.Jack is enthusiastic and encouraging, by changing exercises in each session he keeps my attention and enjoyment. I feel so much better despite the dreaded box,who knew jumping was so complicated ! Keep up the good work guys
After deciding to invest in myself in April, I took advantage of the Podfit 6 week challenge... but was so impressed, I extended my membership. I have two sessions with Tom a week, and he has really kept me motivated and encouraged me - so much so, I’ve already lost 12kg :-) He’s given me lots of tips on diet and nutrition, and has pushed me after my holiday to get back on track. The biggest difference for me, versus my old gym, is the accountability - I know that Tom is expecting me to our appointment, and that makes me feel I must go. I am so excited to feel my clothes getting more comfortable, and being able to get into some of my smaller clothes.
We’ve set a new goal now for November, and I can’t see any reason why I won’t be able to reach it.
I would like to say a massive thank you to the entire team at podfit, especially to my personal trainer Jack. I've always wanted to get healthy and into shape but never had the willpower before, I've just completed my first month and feeling better than ever.
The gym itself is well equipped, Staff are friendly and experienced.
Having been bed bound for months due to severe sciatica and back problems, and after hospital treatment I was desperate to get back to my previous fitness, weight and general health. I was frightened to exercise again but I found out about Podfit and after a consultation I was confident that with all the experience helping people like me with back issues and their enthusiasm, education and program; I was confident it was the right thing for me. I am now in my 4th month, and I can’t believe the difference! I am exercising again, loving it, no longer on pain killers, my fitness is returning and I’ve lost weight. Can’t thank Neil enough for all his support, encouragement and belief in me, I m looking forward to continuing my journey! I would thoroughly recommend Podfit to anyone wanting to make that change!
A year ago today I signed up with Podfit for a special 6 week offer to get in shape for summer... I’m still going twice a week and I’ve now lost over 2 stones and feel great. Neil and David keep me incredibly motivated... no 2 sessions are the same. I need the accountability of knowing they’re expecting me, and even though a PT is a bit extravagant, the amount I’ve wasted at other gyms - paying not to go! - this is worth every penny.

I’ve been training with Jack at Podfit for almost a year now. It has taken me on leaps and bounds towards my personal goals with the clear direction and accountability that the guys provide.
Plus, it’s great fun and always a laugh in the sessions (when I have enough energy left to do anything other than concentrating on not dying!)
I've been training at Podfit twice a week for the last year and just have to leave a five star review for my trainer, Tom Storr! I have trained with Tom since August 2017, and he's been wonderful throughout. Tom has tailored my sessions to my needs (I have a shoulder injury so exercises needed adapting a little) and he has been flexible to my frequently changing schedule. He's been supportive and motivating and has given me tips on nutrition and additional exercises to do at home or when away with work. My workouts have been varied from boxing to weights to cardio challenges - keeping things interesting. I've improved my health, strength and fitness with Tom, as well as just generally having a laugh and some good chats! It's been great to have a friendly trainer who really pushes me when I need it. I couldn't recommend Tom more.
Life changing experience! I've gone from couch potato to running a marathon in less than 6months, dropping 5 stone in the process! Every session is different and fun, and tailored individually to your needs, I saw an add on Facebook and was a bit sceptical but after meeting the guys and doing a taster session it was a no brainer!! There is a wealth of expertise between the trainers and some great equipment. Podfit has helped me make lifestyle changes that are here to stay! Thankyou Jack, Neil and the podfit family you really have changed my life!
I started PODFIT a year ago now. I think it was the best decision I've ever made for my fitness or rather lack of. I was so unfit even the stairs leading up to the studio were a mammoth task. Not a good combination of my age, weight and being 2 years into Menopause. Fast forward a year, oh how times have changed! I'm now able to manage 15,000+ steps a day and the strength I have is fabulous. During lockdown they still managed to train everyone either virtual or 1 to 1 (mine was on the Knavesmire). I couldn't have done this on my own. These guys are amazing and they know their stuff. I would highly recommend them 👌
My journey so far with Podfit has been AMAZING! The team at Podfit have helped me to finally take control of my weight, which i have battle with all of my life, I maybe only 18 but I weighed 20 stone and I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes when I was 14 but with the help from Neil and Tom that has all changed!!! The team at Podfit gave me a Meal Plan to follow and some expert advice on even things like setting my alarm to wake me up an hour earlier because when you sleep in or get up late it makes you feel like “I can’t be bothered or i will start the training tomorrow type of mood” which I didn’t believe until I tried it and they are right! The difference is unbelievable!
The team also set me up with some gym sessions, twice a week and omg am I sore for a few days after but I wouldn’t change it for the world cos I love it!!!! Both Neil and Tom are expert trainers and with their expert knowledge and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today without them, I look forward to my gym sessions and wish I could stay longer!!!! I am so grateful for your help and support Team Podfit!!!!
Currently I am training with Tom Storr, in just 3 weeks I saw my body transforming into a better shape and my weight loss journey started with success. Tom always pushes me and modify the training without loosing its benefit. Very well prepared. The team at Podfit are very nice and friendly and feels like a cosy place to workout with short/term results 🤩

When I started at Podfit In March this year, I weighed 98kgs and felt very unhealthy. My goal by my Holiday in July, was to loose 10kgs which I achieved with the tremendous help and support of my Personal Trainer Jack and the team, who pushed and motivated me all the way. Another 4 months on I have lost another 4kgs, i now have a flatter stomach, Abs appearing, and following a full nutrition sheet week in and week out, I am looking and feeling fantastic.
For me being able to train in a great environment where no one cares about how you look, put me at ease straight away, as everyone is there for the same reason. Thanks so much guys, and I would absolutely recommend any one of all ages shapes and sizes to try them- you wont be disappointed!!

I love that as a complete gym novice I have been shown what I can do not what I can’t. I was so nervous walking up those stairs but was made to feel completely at ease by my trainer Tom who has shown me how to enjoy exercise and I always feel that my sessions are personal to me. I not only have lost weight and inches but now have a new found confidence.

An excellent personal training facility convieniently located in the heart of central York.
I can thoroughly recommend the team at PodFit, having used the personal training facility twice a week for two years. The location is fantastic, the equipment is varied and the personal training provided is first rate. My overall health and fitness has improved significantly as a result of the bespoke and progressive training plan that has been developed for me. Tom pushes me hard, but I see measured performance improvement as a result.
Cannot fault the team at Podfit. Since training with them not only have I realised and achieved my goals that I previously did not think where attainable but I have also gained the confidence to use the knowledge I have learnt to train outside of podfit which mean's I can push myself further. You can not beat personal training and Jack my trainer is great.
I met Neil through a Facebook group. With both of us being in the fitness industry we bounced ideas off of each other. During that time I was very impressed with the amount of knowledge Neil has when it comes to fitness and training. Just one conversation with Neil and you can tell he really cares about his clients and their results. I've sent several clients to Podfit and everyone of them has returned to thank me for hooking them up with such great training.
Just returned frm my second challenge of the summer , biking in Spain . The first was walking The Dales Way (83) miles earlier in August . Having suffered with a long term hip problem , I cannot believe that after a few weeks training in the Podfit gym, I was fit enough to contemplate these challenges , let alone enjoy & complete them . Thank you to Neil & Jack , you have given me strength & hope .
I love my sessions here. Jack really puts me through my paces, but is also aware of my limitations and doesn't push me so far as to cause injury or pain. The sessions are varied and I always leave feeling like I've achieved something. I like the privacy of the sections and that there will only ever be a maximum of 3 people working out at one time.
The support and encouragement I have received from my personal trainer Steve is second to none. He has a wealth of knowledge on exercise and nutrition. I have also had the opportunity to exercise with Ryan when I have needed a last minute rescheduled workout for which I am grateful. Thanks guys.

I am 72 with some Neurpathic problems which require careful understanding relative to exercise and training. The proprietor thoroughly understood my requirements and he is highly recommended. Also the location of the gym is very convenient for city workers and all staff are knowledgeable and friendly
I really enjoyed all my sessions at PodFit with Alex. I started to see improvements in my fitness and all round health very quickly!!
Amazing environment, my personal trainer Jack is very motivating. It's very goals focussed with lots of help on home workouts and nutrition as well.

i could not think of a better place to have a work out as both Neil and his team all know the best way for you to exercise all of the muscle groups that most people find hard to get into shape, if you need help then please just go and speak to them you wont find anywhere better.

Really good training, better than the commercial gyms. You get the help and tailored training you need unlike the commercial gyms where you feel the trainer is more interested in impressing the women
