I have been coming to TS Personal Training & Nutrition for over 6 months and I couldn’t recommend it enough! The studio space is bright, welcoming and non-intimidating – there is a fantastic variety of equipment so there really is something for everyone regardless of your age or ability. Tom put me at ease straight away – the sessions are always fun, challenging and educational, which is exactly what I wanted when choosing a PT! Alongside the weekly training sessions you receive a lot of additional support too – the coaches are always on hand to help, answer any questions and you receive a lot of nutritional support including a recipe book which is filled with lots of healthy, tasty recipes! Thank you Tom for all of your help so far, I’m excited to continue with my fitness journey towards becoming a fitter, stronger and healthier version of myself! 😃

I started training with Ryan in March 22 after having a taster session with Tom. Ryan and Tom are such lovely guys and I feel as though I get so much out of each session with Ryan. On the very first session I lifted more weight than I’ve ever done before and I am continuing to progress with the workouts. Ryan’s encouragement and belief in my ability has really helped me to be a lot stronger. He also takes into account previous injuries to ensure I am ok with the plan. I was at first unsure if a personal trainer was really something for me, so I booked a taster session with Tom, and after experiencing the light, airy environment, and meeting the people, I decided to sign up. I can absolutely say it was a good decision, I have made more progress in the last few months working with Ryan, than I have made on my own in years.
The whole process has been a positive experience for me, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to spur a change in themselves, or their lifestyle in general. It has also been about more than just the workouts and training, the nutritional advice and tools provided to me have been key in achieving what I set out to.
As for what TS Personal Training & Nutrition is actually like, forget any notions you may have of drill sergeant types shouting at you while pushing you to the absolute limit, that’s not what the place is about. They will push you to achieve your goals, but in a way that is encouraging and helpful. So whatever your goals may be, and however modest, time at TS Personal Training & Nutrition I would regard as time well spent.

I joined last November and can honestly say it was the best investment I have made in myself ever, I have been a member of various gyms in the past but none come close to the level of professionalism and quality of the trainers at TS.
Ryan, my personal trainer has been extremely helpful in preparing me for the road ahead both physically and mentally. He was honest from day one with my current physical ability and has put in place a very structured approach for me to hit my goal. I am almost at the end of my first phase into the transformation, I have noticed a huge difference in both my appearance and confidence. I know I am in the best possible place and the team at TS have everything I need to get to my goal.

I absolutely love going to TSPersonal Training. Tom is a great guy and runs a great program, and my trainer Ryan is a blast. I feel like when we're working together I really get the most out of every exercise, and Ryan's great at explaining and demonstrating everything as we go. Tom’s gym is perfect for any York city centre worker looking for the ideal place for a regular workout in easy walking distance. Located on the corner of James Street and Lawrence Street, just beyond Walmgate Bar, the compact well equipped space offers a wide range of membership options.
As an older client, together with my wife, we enjoy a weekly one-hour joint session with Tom’s excellent colleague, Ryan Mintoft. Tailored to our specific needs, Ryan has managed to turn this couch potato into someone who now looks forward to our weekly workouts. With patient and careful supervision, he has overseen a transformation which has helped to significantly improve our mobility and motivation. A beneficial weight loss is also developing.
We can’t overstate just how helpful and supportive Tom and his team have been in helping us get back on track to a life of full fitness. Highly recommended.

I started training with Tom a few months ago, his new gym is really well located in York city centre with parking on site or close by. The studio itself is really well equipped and for any one a bit intimidated by a normal gym setting it’s a private, welcoming environment.
Tom is a great personal trainer he genuinely listens to what you are trying to achieve and develops a plan around that. He pushes you to improve every week but in an really encouraging way and no two sessions are ever the same. I’m not new to exercise but Tom has taught me to think differently about health and fitness. He makes immediate goals which are small and achievable and more importantly I actually enjoy the exercise and feel great afterwards!
Tom is adding more classes to his group fitness timetable and I’m looking forward to joining them.
If you are looking to make changes to your lifestyle, diet (he even has his own fab recipe book!) and fitness whatever they are I would 100% recommend you try a session with Tom.

I attended the first Disco HIIT class at TS Personal Training & Nutrition and I will definitely be returning for more!
The class was led by Hayley who was really knowledgeable and motivating. She pushed us to work really hard, whilst still having so much fun at the same time.
Toms classes and Personal Training are brilliant and he is now at his new facilities which he has worked really hard for and is well deserved! The space is bright and airy and there is a vast variety of top end equipment to work out on.
One of the things Tom is best at is tailoring the workout experience to every individuals needs which I think is really important, as no one person is the same.

Was purchased personal training lessons as a Christmas present. Having never been to the gym before and at 41 really wasn’t sure what to expect. As soon as you walk in you’re made to feel welcome, and relaxed. Great experience, which gets better week after week. Needless to say I’ve renewed my lessons after the gifted ones and continuing as the benefits can easily be felt. Would recommend both for beginner and for someone experienced looking to improve form.

I began training with Ryan because I wasn't feeling confident with my body and was struggling with my nutrition, stuck not knowing what to do. After 12 weeks I feel so much more energised, have a good relationship with food, enjoying training again and feeling and seeing progress in my strength and body.

For the past 3 months me and my wife have been coming for joint sessions to help improve our strength and general fitness. We have found the studio to be the perfect place as there is complete privacy, because we are in our 80's this is very important. We have seen big differences since starting and Tom is an excellent trainer that has helped us very much. Tom has been brilliant. My fitness has improved immensely thanks to focused sessions. He helps keep track of diet outside of sessions, mainly by making me more mindful of what I’m eating and drinking. Plus the new location is great.
I’ve used PTs in gyms before who were knowledgeable but generally are trying to run the desk or talk to other clients at the same time. There is none of that with Tom.

If you're someone who is nervous about going into a busy gym environment the studio is the perfect place for you to focus on yourself, train and build your confidence without having to worry about anybody else.
Tom makes training sessions educational, engaging and most importantly fun! His passion and care for helping others is very clear. Each session is different and is tailored to meet your own personal goals whatever your age or ability.

Unfortunately I did not fully enjoy my experience, as I felt that the concerns I raised during my 12-week course were not addressed. In particular, I did not receive any nutritional coaching or package beyond a booklet explaining what a balanced diet was, and a healthy recipe ebook. I expected guidance during the sessions, but I did not receive this. I was often told that my concerns would be addressed starting from the next session, including reviewing what I uploaded to MyFitnessPal, but these were never delivered. I was also often referred to content which was not shared with me.
Finally, my final session was booked incorrectly. I booked a 7pm session during my previous session, which I entered into my calendar app on the spot. When I turned up for the session, I was told that it had actually been booked in for 6pm (which was false), and another client had been booked into the 7pm slot. I was told they would see what they could do, but unfortunately was not provided with any sort of compensation for this whatsoever. When I raised this issue afterwards, Tom has repeatedly claimed that I had opened and read email reminders - I had never received any of these reminders, so I do not know what he is referring to. He also did not offer an alternative appointment.

I have been working with Tom now for just a few weeks but so far I have thoroughly enjoyed my training sessions with him.
I went to Tom with a desire to improve my core strength and general strength to support my running and prevent injury. Tom has listened to what I was asking for and created aspecific plan to meet my needs.
I'm a moderately active person and quite motivated in general so I was a bit dubious as to what I would gain from a PT but decided to give it a go and I'm so glad I did - Tom is great at pushing me to go the extra mile and push myself much more than I would push myself at home or in the gym.

I started working with Tom in the run up to my first wedding dress fitting. I completed an 8 week course and I lost 6cm from my waist. I was so pleased with the results- I know I would never have achieved this if I was just working out on my own in the gym. I have trained with Tom since August 2017, and he's be wonderful throughout. Tom has tailored my sessions to my needs (I have a shoulder injury so exercises needed adapting a little) and he has been flexible to my frequently changing schedule.
He's been supportive and motivating and has given me tips on nutrition and additional exercises to do at home or when away from work. My workouts have been varied from boxing to weights to cardio challenges - keeping things interesting.

I have become a member of the gym since November, 2021. I always have personal trainer in the recent 10 years but TS gym definitely takes personal training to a different level! I am very impressed by its result oriented approach and that drives a very goal specific training programme. Three months ago, I had all sorts of injuries and problems that a runner could have . When I started with Hayley, I had a 90% recovered broken knee, a sprained ankle and a weak upper body, and now I feel reborn! With a very thorough strengthening work plan, I am much stronger and I am back to running.

Covid gave me a kick up the bum to introduce a little selfcare in to my world but where to start. After a quick google search I found Tom, after my initial visit I came away feeling encouraged, ready and armed with goals to work towards.
I am very happy to recommend Tom, some of his main strengths are: quickly understanding your specific personal training needs; keeping it interesting and giving good advice regarding nutrition. He is also a really nice guy, not pushy, but does challenge you – which is one of the main reasons for having a personal trainer! Tom makes training fun and fulfilling, and has definitely helped me improve my fitness, previously I’ve never managed to achieve my goals but after my first month with Tom, I’m 9lb lighter and feeling stronger, more hydrated and entirely confident in the process.

Almost a year on after giving birth to my daughter, I was really struggling to shed the weight I piled on during my pregnancy, despite being quite active and eating healthily, the weight was just sticking to me no matter what I tried. I never had problems losing weight in the past, so I started to wonder if there was something medically wrong with me... The weight just was not budging. However, since beginning my sessions with Tom 6 weeks ago, I am absolutely delighted to have lost 11 pounds already... He has been incredible and so supportive. A great trainer who pushes you but understands your limitations. I had a motorcycle accident 10years ago and amongst other injuries damaged my shoulder. Working with Tom has really helped ease the pain and finally start to strengthen it without causing damage. I decided to take on a trainer to improve my level of fitness, loose a few pounds and help with my lack of discipline/motivation. Tom has helped me to tone up and improve my general level of fitness. Don’t get me wrong it was tough at first but I feel more balanced both mentally and physically. He tailors your session to suit what you need to achieve to be successful, and I never once felt pressurised about being tied into contracts you cannot get out of. His knowledge of PT and nutrition is second to none, I was really impressed with his healthy meal plans. Tom is cheerful, upbeat, a great motivator without being pushy and brash. I have never been a natural when it comes to exercise and originally signed up with Tom for 3 months and only had two face-to-face sessions before Covid-19 lockdown started. Given the situation, I was considering pausing my training with Tom for a month or two but decided to continue with his virtual training package. I am extremely glad that I carried on and can’t quite believe that I’m in far better shape coming out of lock-down than when it started! My energy levels, fitness and strength has improved and I’m also 20lbs lighter in 3 months. Tom provided me with home workouts, consistently stayed in contact with me and provided excellent support and guidance; the weekly video call check-ins encouraged me to stay accountable and motivated. I can honestly say that I’m the fittest and in the best shape that I can remember being in. With only a few pounds off my goal weight, I have just signed up for another 9 months and look forward to getting back to the face-to-face sessions over the next few weeks. I can’t recommend Tom enough – he is dedicated, supportive and accommodating of all levels of fitness. I just wish I’d started years ago!

Recognising the importance of maintaining a degree of fitness in later life and not wanting to join a gym/fitness centre, we were interested to learn that Tom offered personal training sessions at one's home. There's some great equipment in the studio, a range of weights, kettlebells and cardio machines.
