I was told I had rising damp, so I asked for a survey to be done at my property, Craig phoned on day of survey and asked if he could attend earlier which suited me ,he arrived checked all things I was concerned about thoroughly and advised that my house was fine and gave me advice how to fix my issue and sent me leaflets, I was very pleased with his advice and I am happy with the service and his very honest and professional service . very good company. Had a damp issue in one of our bedrooms. The surveyor came round to have a look was able to determine the problem very quickly. Suggested a low cost way to fix the issue which has worked, saving us a lot of money and a lot of potential mess. Great to come across such an honest company!!

Fantastic joinery work done by Richard on our property; he was meticulous in his work and took endless time to ensure that his work was just right. Great service. From diagnosing a long term damp problem, which had been "fixed" twice before by other firms, to the tradesman, Robin, turning up on time, being polite and tidy and finishing the job on time through to John the supervisor checking in 3 times to make sure we were happy with the work. Excellent, professional and friendly service . The local damp inspection expert came out within a week of calling. He walked and talked through the various issues, and took damp meter readings. There was nothing major in terms of moisture content, and we got recommendations. They do not charge for this much valued service - their business comes only if major problems arise and you decide to rectify it with them - or if you request a full report for more serious issues. Clarke Elsby came out over the weekend and performed an extremely thorough survey on the property.During the consultation he explained in detail the level of survey he would carry out and offered to answer any questions we would have,all of our questions were answered in an understandable way. With refreshing honesty and complete confidence, he diagnosed that the problem was not woodworm, but another insect, which most importantly did NOT require treatment. Malcolm MacKenzie from the Edinburgh office came out to check a damp proofing course that had just finished its 30 year warranty from a different company in a ground floor flat we have just bought in Dalry. He explained clearly what he would test for & how the metering system he used worked which gave us a greater understanding and reassurance of what the process involved. Thankfully for us the readings Malcolm took indicated that there were no issues with the 30 year old damp proofing course. With the course having been put in over 30 years ago I am sure more scrupulous surveyors would have used that fact to say that a new damp course treatment was required. Malcolm indicated a couple of areas where small vents in doors & where an old fireplace was, would help reduce any condensation in the future & what paint to use to cover a small damp spot from a downpipe which was very helpful advice. We very impressed with Malcolm and would fully recommend him to others who need advice over possible damp issues. We can see why Richardson & Staring as a company have won so many awards recently if the rest of their staff are as professional and helpful as Malcolm.

very impressed with allaspects ofwork undertaken. Originally spoke to Clark who talked me through and problems I was experiencing with damp walls. Nothig was to much trouble for him, he was able to answer all of my questions in an simple easy to understand way and was not judgemental with my lack of knowledge and put my mind at rest. ( I did not get this levelof service with other companies i got out for a quote). R and S worked around me to enable an appointment date that was suitable for me . Until the plaster and bricks were removed there was no guarantee of exactly what needed to be done. When they were removed the plasterers and clark ( who came out again to absolutley to put my mind at rest) ensured the work discussed did indeed need done . The plasterers were extremely helpful and didnt rush the job. I fear if the plasterng was rushed this may have caused further problems which would have taken up more of my time and money. They were very diligent ,knowledgeable and again carried out an excellent job. ( including popping in the following dayto finish and ensure job done correctly). 5 stars
