I have about 27 of the heavy duty paper ones that I have mounted to a backing board myself and sealed them and they are holding up great!! If you are looking for great detail (shadows, texture, depth) then Black Velvet Styling has you covered! I work for a member-only menu planning/recipe site and multiple food bloggers and a magazine.

As a chef, being able to change the backgrounds for a dish brings the photos together so well. With these high quality backdrops it makes it so easy to do so. The Vinyl backdrops are so wonderful as they are waterproof which when photographing food is so useful as accidental spillages and action shots are easy to clean up! I also purchased the carry and store backdrop case which is fantastic and definitely worth the price. It makes the backdrops so easy to transport and is very useful for storage, to protect them and keep them from being damaged. The photo quality is excellent and were exactly like how they appear on the website. I couldn’t be happier, I’ll definitely be purchasing more for my work in the future!

They were recommended a fair bit and I can already see how much it has upped my game. I ordered four inexpensive vinyl A1 backdrops (since they have a buy 4, get 1 free deal on!) so I could do messier shoots. They can be rolled out and wiped down with ease which is a relief! If you were on a tighter budget, the paper backdrops are only £18 each. Hoping to invest in a few more backdrops soon!!

I created a mood board before purchasing 4 backdrops (now Sophie has this feature on this site which is handy). Bound was definitely part of the 4 and I will be using it a lot. Bound is a great neutral colour in a medium shade and very versatile. It works really well with green produce.
The backdrops are strong, wipable with a matt finish. They came packaged sustainably which what every company should do! I will buy again.

A. N.Absolutely amazing quality printed backdrops. The colors are saturated, the details are well preserved, and the material for both paper and vinyl prints is thick and durable, especially compared to other vinyl prints I’ve bought before. Because the material is thick, I wasn’t able to flatten them under weight overnight, so I’m using some weights on each corner when shooting. Not a big deal. The shipping to the US was very fast - only three days! Backdrops were secured well and came undamaged. I recommend this store to any photographer looking for quality and variety of backdrops!

As a food photographer (@linhmoranphotography) I know I will be using these backdrops again and again. I usually DIY my own backdrops to save money, but these are the most affordable backgrounds I've found out there, especially if you mount and seal them yourselves, with colours and textures that are very hard to create yourself. Definitely recommend!

I. B.I have lots (I think around 15) of these backdrops and they are all superb! As a (very) amateur food photographer they were an excellent way to start collecting props and backgrounds. Very affordable but super hard wearing, my first is around 2 years old and still going strong! Would definitely recommend buying any from here.

The website has good advice on what products you may need for what style you are going for, especially if you are new to photography.
I went for the small 'patsy' mottled metal and small plank wood effect - both in A2. and they work perfectly for what I am after as I take close up pictures of food. If I wanted to do wider shots then I would definitely go for a bigger size (I may even make another order yet).
You can wipe them clean easy enough and they are easy to store safely. If you are going to use them a lot then I would definitely recommend them to be mounted, which can be done as a reasonable fee.

I chose the unmounted A1 sheets, so I had a little more flexibility with how I use them, but they are still easy to wipe up any small spills or marks. Really helpful customer service and advice through Instagram. The only problem is being spoilt for choice on which ones to order from this wonderful small, independent business next!

The backgrounds are brilliant quality and stand up to the mess of food based work I put them through. They take flash very well and perform beautifully under day light if you have an appropriate window.

S.I have been wanting to improve my food photography skills for a while now and after clicking their advert on my insta feed I was so impressed and inspired by the backgrounds I knew I had to get some. But better yet I saw that there was an online course that weekend so I booked a train ticket and off I went. Best money ever spent. Not only did I get to meet some inspiring people but Sophie is so talented and lovely. Lots of one on one tutoring and getting to play around with the ingredients THEY PROVIDED or you could bring your own. But being someone who had not really much idea about anything to do with the set up and lighting you really could get creative and I loved every minute. If i didnt have dinner plans that evening I would have stayed for the second session of the day which was an extension of what I completed.
Also being someone that used her phone to take photos rather than a SLR camera I still learned so much and did not feel any less catered for.

A. M.After searching the whole web for an inexpensiv version of getting new backdrops I found the "Black Velvet Styling" Store. I ordered 4 different Backdrops during the 4for3 sale. The Shop offers a lot of variations and various sizes to choose from. I found the price per backdrop very reasonable, specially compared to other brands. Just the delivery price from the UK to Germany made me cringe specially as the order took over a week to be delivered. But as I've seen they already changed the delivery options and prices since my order. (Yay)
The prints are really nice and the paper has a good quality. It isn't as "matt" as I hoped for but it still works really well in daylight but definitly better with studio lights (specially the dark backdrops).
Of course you won't get all the natural structures like from a real stone/wood/metal backdrop. But you also safe a lot of space and weight in the studio. Until now I'm pretty happy and still need to decide if I want to mount them on a mdf plate or keep them like that so I can roll them up in a quiver. It for sure wasn't my last time to order here. :)
