Reviews of PSD Wedding Photographer Edinburgh

I met Phil at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange Wedding Fair and he stood out from all of the other wedding photographers I spoke to that day. Not only were Phil's photos amazing, I loved the natural style of them, he was a nice guy and not pushy or in your face like many of the other photographers. Phil took the time to meet myself and my husband before we confirmed our booking with him and he put us totally at ease.
On the lead up to our wedding Phil's planning was impeccable, he took time to get to know what was important to us and to understand our wedding day. On the day it's self Phil was amazing, in fact he blended in so well we didn't think about photos once and it was as if he was one of the guests. Many of our guests have commented how friendly and professional Phil was on the day.
When our photos were ready Phil invited us to his studio to see them and what can I say?! They are absolutely wonderful! They tell the story of our day perfectly and let us see many moments we missed as the day passed in a flash. Our Family are all in love with the photos also and they have all enjoyed looking at them with us. They will be treasured by us for years to come.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Phil as a wedding photographer, in fact we have already passed on his details to someone we know who is getting married.

I first met Phil through a networking event some years back. He struck me as a genuine and honest guy who cared deeply about the work he did. I made a mental note of him then, in case I ever needed a wedding photographer.
So, when I eventually did need one, I looked Phil up and from the first meeting my wife and I new we'd found the right guy. On top of the incredible quality of his work, I highly recommend Phil for the attention to detail he puts into his planning. From the beginning, he took careful note of our requirements and then talked us through the day and how things would work. He met up with us at the venue itself to plan the locations for the photographs and talk through more of the details. What I liked about Phil was his positive and reassuring attitude. He was also incredibly good with communication; not only with us, but also with other family members who would help him get people lined up for photos on the wedding day.
On the day itself, Phil was just great. Everything went to plan and we had a wonderful time having our photos taken. We also got really positive feedback from other family members.
Two weeks later, we got to see the photos and we were dead impressed. It was really great sitting in his studio watching a slideshow of images that perfectly captured the special moments of our wedding.

Phil has the natural ability to make you feel calm and comfortable from the very first introduction. As soon as we met him, we knew we would choose him because a) he knows what he's doing, having a array of photography history behind him and stunning photos to show us b) he made us feel very relaxed and comfortable, and I even remember saying to my then fiancé 'I feel like I've just had a chat about photographs with one of my mates!' c) we knew we would get on well with Phil on the day, amongst all the other stresses of the wedding day, we had the feeling he would keep calm and guide us through photo shots without stress and d) all his wedding photography packages are reasonably priced and we were glad he offered a consultation for us for free, which in the end, was great for us as we got to see the areas of the venue where pictures could be done come rain or shine.
On the wedding day, Phil arrived promptly, even some of our guests noted he was in smart attire to fit in with the wedding. Myself as a bride was in the midst of emotions from the day, but Phil reassured me and only took photos when I was ready, he didn't interrupt any wedding preparations for me or the bridesmaids, and made us all feel at ease. My maid of honour was impressed with his organisation by asking herself and ushers to help gathering people for group shots, all little details that would probably stress the bride and groom out!
Overall, we found Phil polite, professional, efficient and approachable. All attributes that we knew we would get the moment we met Phil and booked him for our wedding.
It really is a bonus having a photographer you can get on with, as really you're booking a photographer for the pictures of your wedding, however, I believe it is very important to have a photographer with the correct social skills and adaptability to ease you through the day and make you feel comfortable. The warmth and character of Phil made us feel like he really cared, not just about the photos but of us. And if we're looking happy then obviously the wedding shots will look good!
In terms of the photos, we loved them all and couldn't be happier with all the shots of the day. From the groups shots, the bride and groom shots and even the little detailed shots that we didn't even know about (i.e the 'mummy and daddy place cards) we were chuffed with them all.
There's something reassuring about selecting the right supplier for your wedding, and we could not be happier that we chose Phil as our photographer, (we didn't even look anywhere else! Sometimes its good to go with your gut feeling!) We highly recommend him to all newly-engaged couples, they will not be disappointed booking with Phil.

The first thing that strikes you about Phil is that he is a consummate professional at the top of his game. I first met Phil at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange wedding fayre. My fiancé was very impressed by the quality of the photos in his brochure, and I thought the price was very reasonable too. We had no doubts about booking Phil for our wedding.
A fantastic wedding photographer isn’t just an artist, although that is of course very important. He is knowledgeable, well organised and enjoys working with people. Throughout the planning phase, Phil was always there to guide us through the process. What surprised us most was that he is not only a great photographer, but also a reliable adviser. Having photographed so many weddings, Phil was full of useful advice about what to plan and what to look out for. He even taught me a trick to stop my new shoes sliding on highly polished floors (I was worried about slipping during the first dance). We had a few concerns about the darkness of our chosen venue at the Ghillie Dhu, Edinburgh, but Phil put all our worries out of our minds and really put in the effort to plan contingencies – he installed some extra flash bulbs at strategic points and did several venue visits to ensure he could get the best shots at exactly the right moments.
We had a pint with Phil on a couple of occasions, and although he is extremely busy (a victim of his own success), he took time to get to know us. He is very easy going and very likeable. In fact, a lot of my family and friends mentioned that they thought he was the nicest guy as he didn’t get upset when guests wanted to take their own pictures of us, even when they used flash. Phil’s ethos is to work hard and be organised, and to ensure that everyone is having a good time.
On the wedding day itself, Phil went about his thing in such a way that we were completely relaxed and just concentrated on enjoying ourselves. We had no need to worry at all because Phil was always there in the background, never missing a moment that was photo-worthy, capturing some really special parts of our day, including some amazing pictures of our family and friends that we will treasure forever.
Phil has a studio in Edinburgh where he invited us to see the photos for the first time. Despite his busy schedule, he was really accommodating as we had to travel from Fife to come down and I was very late – he didn’t seem to mind at all even though it meant he wouldn’t finish work until very late that night. He took his time, getting us coffee and biscuits, ensuring we were ready. Then he played the slideshow which was set to music perfectly, in tune with our vision for the day. It was a really magical moment, reliving the whole day again with such stunning pictures of us both, our family and friends, and the beautiful venue. He then let us watch it through again on his high definition screen. He genuinely cares about giving couples the best photography experience possible.
We can’t recommend PSD Photography highly enough.

Phil provided a really outstanding service at our wedding. He made us very comfortable throughout the day and also made sure that everything was in place for our family/ group photo shoots. The pictures look absolutely amazing and perfectly capture the atmosphere of the day! We highly recommend Phil’s service which also comes with a good value for money price tag.

The whole experience of booking Philip Dickson for our wedding was exceptional. Phil is friendly, knowledgable, calm and professional. Phil assisted us before, during and after the wedding. The photos Phil captured are brilliant and if you are looking for a photographer in Edinburgh, book with PSD, you will NOT be disappointed.

Though our wedding day was fabulous, I had a nagging headache for most of it, which meant that I couldn't focus on everything as much as I would have liked. It all went so fast, too, that I didn't even tear up, and I always tear up at anything vaguely sentimental. Naturally, guest photos had been posted to facebook before I had reached the end of the aisle (to be fair, it was a very long aisle), but after the wedding and honeymoon, we got to see Phil's.
We were happy with them at the viewing in the studio, but when we sat down at home and really looked at them (reliving a beautiful ceremony without the headache), the tears finally came. Thank you so much, Phil, for a job so professionally and expertly done. Many of our friends and family commented on what a neat guy you are and we couldn't agree more. As they say at Mastercard, "priceless."

Phil, we cannot thank you enough for the amazing pictures you took at our wedding. You made us feel really at ease and we had so much fun during the couples photoshoot, you made it so easy! The service you provided was of the highest quality from our first enquiry right through to receiving our finished photos. Your informal, unstaged approach made the experience so relaxed and made for some fun, spontaneous pictures. The hard part is now choosing which memories to put up on the wall…there’s so many to choose from I think we need a bigger house! Thank you for everything, your awesome photos will ensure we remember our perfect day for years to come.

A huge thank you to you for being our photographer on the big day! We loved having you with us and we both agree you are hugely professional. You were such easy company and it all felt like a great laugh - our couple shoot with you was one of many highlights and it was so lovely to have some time together.
We also really appreciated your advice beforehand on structuring the day and we wouldn't have had that crazily uplifting ego trip of the walk through the hall if you hadn't suggested it - it wouldn't have occurred to us. We felt like rock stars! What a blast.
