I’ve been on two of Glen’s courses. The beginners where a small group of us learned to come off Auto and move onto AP or S modes, as well as use the shutter speed to great effect. The second was an intermediate course which went into more detail about camera settings. Both courses were well explained and made things much easier to understand. I would highly recommend going on one or more of the many courses on offer if you want to improve your photography skills.

I love taking photos and my husband bought me a budget Canon camera for Christmas but I had no idea how to use the features on it so just used auto settings. I then googled and found Glen’s courses. The course was very relaxed in Glen’s home. We all learnt so much about what our cameras could do and why. The morning we learnt the theory and in the afternoon we headed out into the lovely village of Smeeton Westerby to put what we’d learnt into practice, then returned to analyse everyone’s pictures. I was so pleased with what my camera could do and can’t wait to count all my new skills into practice. Thank you very much Glen for making the day enjoyable and so informative.

Having recently completed two of Glen's courses (beginner and lightroom) I can highly recommend any budding photographer to do the same. The courses are well run and at a pace and style that makes learning easy and fun. Glen has the patience of a saint and the ability to teach without feeling like you're being spoken down to or made to feel foolish in anyway. If you are looking to improve your photography, whether you're just starting out or looking to go professional this is the place to come.

I had been using an SLR for many years having started with 35mm. I had got to a point where interest in photography was dwindling, largely because I couldn’t get the results I wanted. I attended the beginners course based on the positive experience my Mum had. I have subsequently attended several other courses and have enjoyed my photography far more ever since. Glen is able to teach students in an easy to understand and practical way. There is a good mixture of theory and practical on his courses I’d strongly recommend anyone who wants to learn how to use their camera properly to at least attend the beginners course. Paul Rose

I attended the beginners and intermediate courses on 14th and 15th September. Both were excellent, being practical, inspiring and enjoyable. The small-group size made the tuition very personal, with Glen able to respond to each group member's particular skill needs or issues. Highly recommended. Glen's skill and experience is obvious and his passion is infectious. We went to learn product photography for work. I arrived with no interest in photography beyond the need to learn for work, and left with enthusiasm to continue learning. The course was exactly what we were looking for and had been tailored to our needs. We learned everything we needed to know and more. The teaching was delivered excellently and was paced well. The course was engaging and very enjoyable. We travelled from Devon to attend and plan to go back at some point in the future. It was well worth the trip.

I have come on so much in my photography since having my lessons with Glen, his teaching techniques makes all the photography jargon so much easier to understand. With a policy of 6 students to a course gives Glen the time to ensure you understand; if you don't catch on the first time, he'll get you there. I never hesitate in telling people what a good teacher he is. I always used to have my camera set on auto; after my first lesson with Glen I never use Auto. I'm attending my 6th course with Glen very soon, each subject opens my eyes more and more. Thank you Glen your courses are great.

I have attended so many of Glen's courses that I am sure I own part of his house. Every one of his courses have been well researched and presented. I found that there was always just the right amount of people attending so never crowded which means that Glen can give you time and make you feel like you are the only one there. I have over the years learned so much which now seems like second nature and some people will say that my photography is of a standard that I should be professional. All of this thanks to Glen giving me direction and to a degree imagination. And to cap it all he has a really great dog whom you will be photographing if you attend his basic beginners course. Glen's courses are excellent, they are all limited to a maximum of six people so they are very hands on, the subjects are handled in a very practical way, you will come away having learned loads! What Glen doesn't know about photography and editing is really not worth knowing, he has a vast experience and has an easy way of putting that experience across to course attendees.

Whenever I see a friend or colleague using their expensive digital camera in auto mode I recommend Glen to them. In the space of the day I went from thinking I knew how to use my camera to really understanding the techniques behind getting some great shots. Found this as a result of a Google search, was looking to get my camera off the automatic setting. I was impressed by the website and thought that it'd be worth the trip down from Liverpool for the day, small group, well taught with a practical session, nice friendly people, and great support, it really is the 'group that keeps on giving!' Have done most, if not all, of the courses now. Loved every one. Glen is really good at getting things across and I learnt more in one day than I believed possible. Excellent find!

Having looked at many of the available photography training courses advertised online I decided to try Digital Photography Courses for several reasons. The wealth on information and wide range of courses offered by Glen covered everything I wanted and he was very willing to discuss personal needs and suggest some kit I wanted to buy that was good quality without needing to spend OEM prices. The course itself (Beginners introduction) wasn't one I thought I needed as I've been shooting for many years but specialise in music gigs so am comfortable in a pretty narrow area and want to broaden my horizons. All have to start with a beginners course as what someone states they can or can't do or how good they are is of course a personal opinion. Did I learn something? Absolutely, Glen's delivery and teaching style explains clearly everything one would need to know to get off the default Program button and start to understand how to use the different camera modes for different situations. The location is idyllic, lunch and refreshments provided with the balance set right between initial 'classroom' time followed by practical shooting around the local area followed by review. The next course (using off camera flash) is already booked and can't wait.

If your looking to get off automatic mode and learn to use your camera properly I highly recommend Glen. Have now been on a couple of his courses and was off automatic on the first course. He offers a range of courses for beginners to the more experienced photographer in a wide range of subjects so plenty to keep you busy. He is a very patient teacher had to be with me so don't worry if all you know to start with is turning your camera on he will get you up and running in no time. My photos have improved no end thanks to his courses. Go on book a course they are great days out and you get to meet other people in the same boat as you or even book a 1 to 1 if you feel more at ease.

I have been on several of these courses run by Glen Tillyard, the experience is unbelievable because you learn so much about your camera and how to take superb photographs relevant to the course that you are on. The instruction is well paced and Glen ensures that you fully understand what you are doing. You are able to use his face book site to upload your photographs after the course completes, this in effect gets feedback coming to you from more experienced photographers within the group which means you are able to keep improving on what you have learnt. It has also been fun along the way and is presented in a simple but effective way. If you want to learn about every subject in photography book yourself a course with glen tillyard I have done several courses over a few years you have a maximum of 6 students on the course.Glen will get you off the auto setting in one day.Everything is explained in a straight forward way and easy to understand.dont waste your money doing college courses.The macro course is the best I’ve ever done and is my favourite subject it’s made me so confident to take photos of insects and flowers that I could only dream of before.
