I recently attended the Tower Bridge night shoot. This was my 1st time using 36exp and won't be my last! Very enjoyable experience spent with a very knowledgeable photographer as our guide. Could have done with more time maybe another hour but other than that I learned a lot and got the photos I wanted. Will definitely do another course or two with this company. An excellent course and highly recommended.

I’ve done three workshops now with 36Exp. All of them were excellent. Andrew is supremely knowledgeable and helpful, completely focused on helping you to get the best images. Organisation has been consistently flawless.
I thoroughly recommend 36Exp’s workshops - and I look forward to attending more of them myself in future too!

Studio Portrait photography: It was a fantastic course. The group was very small, so there was lots of time to have a go and explore different lighting setups. With plenty of constructive feedback, the pace was just right for the hands-on learning everything from how to use a light meter to working with four light sources. I’d thoroughly recommend this course.

Great dance photography session at the Bargehouse, London organised by Andrew. Friendly and collaborative attendees and amazingly talented dancers. Definitely recommended.

I have been on 4 workshops with Andrew Mason, and have learnt a lot about night photography from him. He has a very relaxed style of teaching and chooses great venues, so you come away not only learning but with great shots,,,,do i recommend 36Exp.? you bet

Great class with Steve its a pleasant introduction or for the advanced photographer to get to grips with night photography... see you again soon.

Did the Thames low tide workshop this week and it was fantastic. Steve was great, gave lots of good tips but also enough space to experiment. Small group, had a really good time. I will certainly do more workshops with these guys, I highly recommend them.

Attended my first workshop with them in April, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Learned a lot and met some great people along the way. The facilitator was highly experienced and also knowledgeable, sharing his invaluable expertise with us. I built a great portfolio but also, most importantly, skills and confidence which played a part in securing my first booking! Check out my Instagram to see some photos from the day. @kl_weddingphotography

Had a awesome night with a great group of like minded individuals and Steve the trainer was awesome! He was able to quickly, easily and without hesitation help us get better no matter what the situation was. He was excellent and area chosen to get the best out of the lights was perfect. Thoroughly recommend!

I did a low tide night photography workshop last Thursday. After a brief explanation on what to do we went down near the water, Andrew was very helpful an attentive with everyones questions. It was very fun.
Would recommend to anyone

I am new in London, learning how things work. I was really nice to be back in a studio and learn more about photo lighting gere and settings.

The Street photography course last Saturday was a eye opener and I hope to put what I have learned into practice very soon. Many Thanks Steve Franck!

I attended the Night Photography Workshop at Tower Bridge run by Andrew. It was a very good evening at some brilliant locations. Andrew was on hand to offer advice and guidance. Very enjoyable.

Great course. Only 2 hrs but learned plenty in such a short time. Small informal group which also helped. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their skills.

Steve Franck was excellent - he was friendly and approachable. The course had the perfect balance between theory and practice. He explained the basic principles of photography really well, used my camera to show examples while he was teaching, and gave some useful tips and was very encouraging when we did the hands-on activities in the Borough Market. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! With today’s lesson, I have developed confidence in using the manual mode and can’t wait to use my camera on my travels later this year. Thank you!

I attended the Beginners Photography Course with Steve Franck, and had a great experience. Not only was Steve a patient teacher and skilled photographer, he was also just a really cool guy - very easy to talk to, genuinely seemed to care if we were learning, and really passionate about photography. Would definitely recommend to others, and thanks again Steve!

The portrait workshop with Andrew Mason, was amazing and one of the biggest and most rewarding steps I have taken on my photography journey. Andrew is a friendly and pleasant chap, but more to the point he is a great photographer and good tutor so this course is well worth investing in, even for someone (like myself) who is completely new to portrait photography.

I attended the 36exp Wedding Photography Course on the 21st March 2018, and loved the day. The course was presented and conducted by Adam Riley who photographs weddings in a reportage style but catered for all styles. We had an opportunity to photograph a bride and groom in the surrounding streets and in St George's church, Bloomsbury with input and advice from Adam. There was approximately 8 in the group which was great as sometimes courses have too many people. The afternoon involved going through the business components and Adam shared his experiences and business start-up. Would definitely recommend for people interested in starting a business in wedding photography.

Thames at low tide photography session with Steve was great. Small group, Steve's knowledge is fantastic but if you know a little more he gives you plenty of space to play! And then comes back with helpful tips to help you improve. Good location too, amazing what you normally walk past without seeing!

I attended the night shoot on the Thames, I got some great shots, and Steve was very knowledgeable about the vantage points

Steve is an excellent teacher and fantastic photographer. Applied to the beginner course with close to no knowledge at all, and walked away with a solid understanding of how to shoot in manual mode with my mirrorless camera. Highly recommend to anyone looking to learn photography.

A very pleasant experience!
I attend the street photography workshop and It was definitely very useful be "on the field" with the help and the tips of Andrew.
You really realize what are your strenght and also your weakness, you learn a lot of new tricks and how to see approach the environment in a different way.
Andrew is a great guy, very helpful and patient: I'll do other workshop in the future for sure!

Just wanted to say a massive 'Thank You' to Andrew for sharing your knowledge and guidance on Flash Photography with me on Monday.
I really learned a lot in a few hours (although I seemed clueless at times)!
Andrew was extremely patient with me throughout the session which is important when learning new things.
I've been to a few 36exp courses over the year and I've enjoyed every single course. I feel confident with my new found knowledge and excited to get creative with the camera. I have had no problem recommending 36exp courses to friends who are also interested in developing their skills.
The 36exp Team are professional and passionate and I always look forward to attending their courses.

I attended portrait photography workshop with Dan Kennedy, organized by36exp Photography. That was an amazing experience to spend time with a professional London based Celebrity Photographer. I learnt a lot that day, felt comfortable and very supported. Dan is incredibly encouraging, helpful, patient, passionate and enthusiastic. When we finished I felt confident and very motivated. Thank you once again for this experience. Looking fwds to the next workshop!

I attended the Off Camera Flash workshop previously. I attended the workshop again on the 25th July, 2017. The previous workshop we was given a list of all the kit you need. When I attended this time I bought all my own gear (2 flash units, triggers, soft box and stand). I wanted to be able to set up properly and use the kit.
I was pleasantly surprised at the results you can achieve by using fairly inexpensive flash units. I highly recommend the course to other photographers who want to take their art to another level.

It doesn't matter how much experience you have as a photographer, joining a group like this gives one a different viewpoint on photography. I very much enjoyed the two hours spent on the banks of the Thames on your night photography course last Thursday. So glad I was able to attend, thank you very much for the experience.
L. V.
I took the beginner class in January with photographer Steve Franck and I really enjoyed it. I was a bit scared I would have found it too fast, but all the people attending were complete beginners, so we started from scratch.
Half class is done indoors explaining the basics of the exposure triangle, then the rest takes place in borough market.
Would recommend to anyone!

I recently did the Low Tide Thames workshop with Steve. I have nothing but compliments for Steve and the way he took time to attend to all of us in the group and pass on knowledge tips and experience, I would highly recommend this and I will be passing this on to some enthusiasts at work. Thank you again for a wonderful evening and I will be back for some more workshops in the near future.

Spent a very pleasant evening with Andrew Mason walking the City and picking up tips and techniques on seeing and shooting Architecture and Urban Landscapes. Recommended.

Amazing Beginner's Photography Course
I received an SLR camera for my birthday but had no clue how to use it. My family recommended getting lessons, so I searched high and low for a good beginner's photography course online (literally spent about 4 weeks looking and comparing courses), fearful that I was going to get sucked into a 6 week commitment that would end up not being good value for money.
I wanted a course that was both practically and theoretically informative, affordable and inspiring and 36EXP was all of these and more! It is great value for money, wonderfully taught, and gave me such a huge confidence boost, I could not recommend this course highly enough! Ellie was a fantastic teacher, with such patience, knowledge, and her creative inspiration was infectious; I want to sign up for an intermediate one immediately!
Thank you 36EXP for a wonderful experience and opening up a world of possibilities for me and my camera.
J. H.
I did the Studio Lighting course with Andrew, his teaching style is fantastic and I learnt so much. I couldn't recommend 36exp Photography School enough to anyone wanting to learn new skills or improve upon existing ones!

Attended the Street Photography course with Maurizio Martorana on Saturday. Full of energy and enthusiasm, Maurizio really encouraged us to achieve some challenging styles of Photography that I wouldn’t have initially thought of. I left the course a lot more confident and with lots of new ideas. He was a great tutor, and it made for a really enjoyable day!

I've done a number of shoots with 36Exp, and my skills as a photographer have improved immeasurably. Each one has been with a small group of people, giving a personal feel to the whole thing. Always guidance when needed, and the freedom to do your own thing when it suits; well organised and friendly
H.
I've now attended three different courses with 36exp. My latest was Street Photography. The course took place in three locations, across the south bank, and really pushed me to shoot in a completely way than I had previously. I now feel much more confident about street photography and I will take this knowledge with me when I travel. Shaun our tutor gave good constructive criticism and was very patient with the group as a whole.

Workshop was fab. I will definitely be doing more of these workshops when we are able. Andrew provided guidance without being intrusive. I can’t recommend the workshops highly enough.

I attended the wedding workshop with Adam Riley and it has been a great day. It’s always useful to hear how an established wedding photographer works. Then we had the photo shoot with a couple in a church and in the nearby park. Thank you Adam Riley for your advices and guidance. Exp36 is a great practical photography resources for anyone who wants to develop their skills without breaking the bank.

I did the portrait course with Andrew who was a great teacher - I learnt a lot. Julie, the model, was great and worked hard for us. A good group of friendly people with learning about photography as most important. A perfect combination. Highly recommended

I attended the 36 Exp Portrait Photography workshop in London last Saturday 16th of March and am so glad I did because I enjoyed every minute of it!
The work shop was good fun, relaxed and the advice and knowledge the tutor gave was outstanding. It was straight forward, attentive and professional in one well thought out package. There was no "information overload" which can be daunting when your among a group of people you have never met before, Instead I felt no pressure or the need to perform tasks or prove myself, the whole class was encouraged and guided it was a breath of fresh air. I came away feeling incredibly invigorated with so many tips, advice and idea's to try out.
I am so glad I took a huge memory card as I took hundreds of shots and am so pleased with my results. The models were fantastic and good fun to work with and the different light sources in the studio gave a lot of scope to play around with. The whole experience woke me up as to what I can achieve and my confidence has had a much needed kick. Thank you so much Andrew for setting up these work shops I cannot wait to book my next one.

I found the course very interesting and informative. Steve was a really down to earth guy and explained every stage carefully and allowed questions throughout. He also advised us where to find what on our Camera's when we did not know, this was an extremely useful aspect for me. There were 5 students in all and so we all got good personal attention. The photo trip to Borough Market in the afternood was good and Steve set us all tasks to cover what we had learnt, and then gave a good critique at the end of the day. I would thoroughly recommend any one to use this course as a good stepping stone forward.

I have undertaken both private classes and a studio lighting course with Andrew Mason, founder of 36exp. Both courses were expertly set out, and fulfilled all my goals for undertaking the courses. The private classes were tailored to my personal needs, and covered both technical aspects of photography and creativity - whilst exploring exciting areas of London such as the Tate Modern, Southbank and Borough Market - providing many photographic opportunities. The Studio Lighting course I undertook as part of my work training, and through it greatly improved my knowledge of all studio lighting potentials, from the very basics to more complex and interesting experiments in studio lighting.
Having undertaken both these courses, and working for a Fashion Company, I took part in a Fashion Photography Shoot on Hampstead Heath - the experience of a shoot on location was excellent fun, the tutor was both very attentive and interested in our desired outcome of the day and what we were looking for from our work. The others on the course ranged from amateur photographers to professionals and we all shared experiences and expertise in Fashion Photography - an excellent day all round, and a chance to get some exciting and useful shots for ones portfolio.
I would highly recommend any course organised by 36exp, and plan to book myself onto another in due course.
Many thanks Andrew - great work!

I had 7 sessions, each 3 hours long, bespoke to the photography I was needing training in which varied from out on projects, in the studio and outdoors.
Wow, where do I start?!
- From first contact through to completion, Andrew made sure everything was arranged in time and all I had to do was turn up.
- I did not know what to expect in quality of the training, but was blown away by the professionalism, high standards and thoroughness of the training.
- Each member of the team helped me to understand, and taught in a way that I would be able to learn, not in a robotic way that would be used for everyone.
- I was able to spread out and adjust when and what sessions happened next, and spread it out over a couple of months allowing me to practise and iron out problems in between.
- cost - I had 8 quotes in for similar types of training. Some of the quotes were from individual photographers. This wasn't the cheapest quote in the pile, sitting at about 3rd cheapest, but we went for it because of the quality. Price on this kind of thing cannot be your determining factor of who to choose for the teaching, because you could lose out big time on quality of the teaching with other organisations.
- The trainers are all friendly, and very very experienced in what they do. There isn't one trainer who does all categories; it is passed to the specific professional for that area.
Overall, an amazing experience, I learnt a lot, and when I was struggling to understand something, it would be explained in a different way, rather than left to work it out on my own. As result of this training, I have been able to turn my photography skills around, and have been able to produce project photography, product photography and am starting to get freelance projects.

Loads of Thanks to Adam and Andrew for an excellent and inspiring workshop on Wedding Photography! I really appreciate the honesty and sincerity in Adam when sharing his experience. The personal guidance, relaxed atmosphere and attention to detail in Adam's presentation and interaction with participants is rare to find in workshops of this nature. He made it easy for everyone to clear all doubts and engage freely...So my gratitude for organizing and conducting yesterday's course.

Had a great night on the Thames. I had never taken night shots before and had no idea where to start particularly with settings on my camera. Andrew explained the settings and took us on a great walk capturing my first night photos. I would reccomend this workshop to anyone. Thanks Andrew :)))

Great event - took part in a Night Photography Workshop in London. Steve took every opportunity to teach us some very useful skills. I really enjoyed the course and felt I took some nice pictures.

A great few hours on the photographic workshop. Andy discsussed the preferred camera settings and showed us a marvellous place to shoot from... He continued to provide advice and feedback throughout the session.
I am really pleased with the images which are the fruits of my first city night-shoot.
I will be going on further workshops with 36exp photography workshops again.

A really big thank you to Rosella for an excellent portrait photography workshop last Saturday in Hyde Park. We had a useful preliminary discussion on some of the common pitfalls to avoid, and other useful information before a very full hands on session, looking at locations, settings, posing the model, and of course taking loads of photos. I was really pleased with the results, and even more pleased to see improvements in my own photos on the followings day.

A big thanks to the 36exp Team for arranging the "Off Camera Flash Workshop" with Andrew Mason. Had a great time, the workshop was relaxed and well structured and best of all I came away with a better understanding and knowledge of how to use off camera flash effectively and creatively. If you're on the fence on whether to attend any of their course, don't be you won't regret it. :)

Thanks Shaun and Andrew for putting on the Intermediate Workshop. I had learnt the basics of using a DSLR camera but hadn't had the confidence to use manual mode on a regular basis. I also wanted to learn more about taking photos in challenging lighting /compositional situations. This course gave me the practice I needed, the encouragement I needed, plus lots of extra tips thrown in too. Thank you!

Did the off Camera Flash workshop with Andrew. It was a really great experience. Andrew's explanations made everything quite easy to follow. And the outcome was pretty awesome. Liza the model was amazing too.

Steve Franck was a very knowledgeable tutor, who had a friendly and approachable style, and really nothing was too much trouble. 36exp Photography's workshops are brilliant. I have taken similar courses from other London agencies and in other locations such as Paris and New York. 36exp Photography is the best. The course instructor is chill, helpful and encouraging. Beginners and more advanced photographers learn a lot. Everyone will walk away from their training some great photos. 36exp Photography is also great value for money. Other agencies charge way more for way less.

Amazing team, amazing organised and a lot of information.

The Flash workshop ticked all the boxes for me. I started without any real idea of how to use my Speedlite even though I'd read the manual. This was a nice structured day taking the group from the absolute basics through to creative multi-off-camera flash set-ups. What really made it for me was that yesterday I had the chance to put what I'd learnt into practice at an event and can see how much better the photos are than they would have been had I resorted to bung it on the hotshoe and hope-and-pray. Andrew and our model for the day, Cassie(?) we both very patent. Thanks again and I look forward to my next workshop (even though it is a very long way from Wiltshire it was well worth it)

Did the wedding photography course - it was awesome!! A real wedding photographers real life experiences, and some real models to practice with. I had questions answered that I didn't know I had, and had some real inspiration! I feel far more confident now to shoot weddings :)

Daniel Kennedy is a fashion portrait photographer at the top of his game. Which is why it was such a treat to get his introduction to celebrity and fashion photography. He had a full team on hand: two models, a hair and make up artist and a stylist. He took us through the fashion portrait process, allowing us to shoot, and gave guidance on studio lighting and post production. He was conscientious, open and inspiring. Fabulous course. Thank you!

Great street photography workshop with Steve Frank, he's very passionate and professional. Many tips and both theory and practice. Suggested both for beginners and advanced to improve and get new ideas. Thanks! I'm going to post workshop photos on Instagram @peraz82

Attended the photoshoot at God's Own Junkyard and really enjoyed it. The tutors on hand were helpful and suggested new approaches. The models were very friendly, very supportive and genuinly seemed to be enjoying themselves. A long day (I'd driven down from the Midlands) but an exremely rewarding one. I hope to have pictures to share in the next few weeks.

Last monday i dusted off the trusted nikon and headed into westminster ( St Matthews) for Adam Riley's wedding photography workshop organised by 36exp Photography workshops. For anybody thinking about participating i cant recommend this experience enough . Adam will keep you gripped, and entertained with is own photographic journey and will even leave you subtly surprised. but its not all talk, lots of cracking images were captured. A little hint, ask, ask , ask , to get the very best out of this opportunity also networking opportunities are also there to be had to. Ive been so impressed with 36exp workshops that I've already booked two more. so on that note i best clean the glass as its off to seamless studios tomorrow. A huge thank you to all the team and industry professionals associated with 36exp.

Spent a few hours with Martyna in Borough Market last Saturday morning, I had an excellent time. Martyna was very approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. The biggest thing for me was that she encouraged me with any idea I came up with in terms of composition which is a real confidence booster. She let me loose with my camera and after a few pictures she gave me her critique and suggested ways to improve the image. I left Martyna feeling a lot more confident and when I got home and displayed the pictures on the PC......wow! I really had learned something.
Thanks Again Martyna!

I don't usually write these reviews but on this occassion I was so impressed with my day at 36exp Photography (LIGHTING WORKSHOP) that I felt i needed to share my experience. The entire day exceeded my expectaions ten fold. The photographer we had for the day was personable, skilled and made the learning process fun whilst still a challenge. He didn't hold your hand through everything which meant you left being able to confidently use the techniques you had acquired during the day. A hard balance to get when you have 5 people trying to soak up all the information. You never know with courses like these that they are going to be challenging enough or good value for money but I would certainly reccommend this place for any photographers or photography enthusiasts who want to take their photography to the next level. Good luck 36EXP PHOTOGRAPHY. You deserve the business! :)

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed my tutorial last weekend. Steve was a brilliant tutor and really good fun to learn from. He took us through all the basics and whilst there was a huge amount to absorb it was always explained simply and succinctly. If my teachers at school had been as good I might have done better in my A-Levels!

first class shoot,highly reccomended.
