Would love give this a full five star, however the space they have is not fully utilised. There is a mezzanine level which has training rooms. No stock just rooms. Generally good selection to sample the stock, anything that is not available or would require, they have access to the web stock profile. There are a few camera stores left and having WEX open a store is very welcome. Sometimes online is not always idea. Camera gear requires physically checking and trying to see if it will do the job. This is where WEX is very useful. Having knowledgeable staff will help the business, I don’t feel the staff are very enthusiastic or forthcoming. However once engaged they seem to provide a decent level of service. Prices are high though.

Shop all on one level with a doorman to open double door entry if required. spacious and well lit, and exceptionally clean with a good range of products. Staff where very knowledgeable and when I enquired about specific products were able to provide information based on their own use of the equipment.

I've been using this company and its former affiliates for several years and they've always been very good. However the reason for only 3 stars today is my experience visiting the shop. Despite signs asking people to social distance, I had to stand well outside the queue just to avoid unmasked customers trying to stand inches from me. Worst of all though, I witnessed one staff member wearing a face shield and no one else. Most of the staff wore no mask and made no attempt to keep any meaningful distance from customers or each other. Inexplicably, at a time when hygiene is so important, they have made toilets unavailable to customers.

Just how Maplin's use to be in the 80's. Run by enthusiasts and experts who want to help and solve problems for you. I only gave 4 stars because the company have let a lot of their staff go over the pandemic and I now find it much harder to get through on the phone, which has been very problematic over the last 2 weeks trying to purchase something. If I hadn't had previously good customer service, I wouldn't have persisted in trying to get through.

This place will forever me the new standard to which I compare all other camera / production stores to. I came in right before close, had a laundry list of things I needed to buy for a shoot the next day. Not only did Greg, Callum, and Karny all pitch in to help me gather everything (all in stock) but they did the majority of this after store hours and couldn't have been more of a pleasure to work with. Amazing service, incredible store/selection with true "wow" factor I hadn't felt in awhile, plus some prop gents to help out after hours. If that's not worth 5 stars I don't know what is.

Not very different to other camera stores. Similar, if not the same, prices. Staff are OK, friendly enough, but I've always felt being under surveillance until they see my (expensive) camera, which puts them at ease when they realise that I am genuinely interested in their products and not just looking to pinch something.

I am absolutely amazed how great the customer service in this shop is! I am a complete newbie, I wanted a good kit for photos and video for our estate agency photos. Sim was amazing, he took his time to explain, search for good financial options, helped to set up camera. Having decided to trade in all my Fuji equipment for an upgrade to a Sony full frame mirrorless system I called into the Wex London store to test drive a camera and several lenses. I was teamed up with Greg Barker who spent an hour and a quarter with me, testing three lenses and explaining the pros and cons of each. His helpfulness and patience helped me no end and resulted in me changing two of my lens choices based on his personal experience. A fantastic experience and full marks to Greg for spending his time with me, even knowing that for various reasons I may have ordered from Wex online, which I ultimately did in order to just squeeze inside the Sony cash-back validity period.

Bought second hand telephoto and macro lenses for Canon online. Both lenses in immaculate, superb condition. Got good advice from the chat service. Delivery of telephoto was fine, I paid for next day delivery on the macro, Royal Mail hadn't delivered by 5pm and on phoning Wex they assured me my postage would be returned if the lens didn't arrive that day. Luckily the lens came soon after the call, 4hrs later than Royal Mail had advised would be the delivery slot (not Wex's fault). All in all, extremely happy with the service. Thank you.

A great selection of photo and video gear from beginners to professionals. Almost all camera brands new and used equipment and lenses. The staff know what they are talking about and are happy to demonstrate the camera or lens you are interested in. They do not try and force you to buy....but want to make sure you choose the right gear for your needs. One of my first places I visit when buying new equipment.

WEX is a great Camera/Video shop. They practically have everything you require...be it buying a new camera/ Video /lens etc.. Yes, they have everything! I went there looking for a hoeshoe adapter for my Sony Camera..and I wasn't disappointed. The chap I spoke to told me that they didn't have it on the shop-floor, but he could order it for me from their warehouse. I obliged and gave him my details including the mobile phone number. Within two days I got a phone call to tell me the hoeshoe adapter had been delivered. It was the best news ever because I have been looking for the adapter for more than one year! Jessops told me to forget it because the kind of adapter I was looking for was not longer available ever! Another great thing about WEX is that they have open days and workshops plus classes on photography. Please check this shop out. ..you will not be disappointed. The staff is polite and knowledgeable. The product layout is fantastic. However, its a bit expensive! Don't let the price crash your curiousty!

Was caught short without a couple of lenses on shoot. Called the store, arranged an UBER and within 15 minutes, two lenses in my hands. Went to the store to sort the paperwork after the shoot, decided to get both lenses. Both were pre-owned, £850 as opposed to over £1200 and looked as if they were BRAND NEW. The manager Jamie and his staff at WEX will give you the best deal available at the time. NO up-selling, just what you need, when you need it. They have great knowledge in their products and stock, always confirming it's in before you wast a journey. Great workshop on introductory video with Chris Milbourne for new filmmakers and the video-curious and a cinematic documentary class with Jonathan Scott. Chris has been especially super-helpful in helping me build the ultimate super-portable budget camera kit, taking his time to teach me how to make the most of my new equipment. A good DOP friend comes here often and I am so glad I found them. Highly recommended and the best place for good advice from their filmmaking staff and gear (also, check out their used department) at extremely fair prices.

I just had a fantastic (and lucky!) experience at Wex Whitechapel. I recently acquired an old but decent digital camera with an outdated and obscure USB port. Thanks to Wex and special thanks to Greg - who was super helpful and nice - I now have the USB cable I need (which otherwise would've been hard to find) free of charge, as it happened to be lying around in their spare parts section in the back and wasn't a product they currently sell. I have to share the amazing experience at Wex on Commercial Road in London yesterday with Ondrej (I hope I spelled your name right). Came in with a camera and the lens I bought from Wex had gotten stuck on the camera due to not mounting it correctly. Panasonic's engineers and two other camera experts said it would cost around £150 to repair and possibly break the camera and lens in the process, would require a special machine, etc. Amazingly Ondrej removed the lens in around 10 seconds and then repaired it free of charge on the spot. (Wex, give that man a pay rise). He then gave us detailed instructions in properly mounting the lens. Great selection of photographic and studio equipment and accessories. Have bought from them a few times over the years.

A wide range of new and used stock in a large and modern shop. All major camera brands stocked, along with DJI drones, plus some traditional wet-chemical photo equipment and supplies. There is an upstairs lounge used for various functions, but when it’s unoccupied (most of the time) you can sit and read plus the customer toilets are upstairs including one unisex accessible toilet. I didn’t check whether there are lifts/stairlifts for disabled customers to actually be able to reach the toilets. The only brand which I felt was severely under-represented was Olympus: the other display stands feature camera brands plus their lenses, but the Olympus display just had a few bodies but no lens display. Plenty of staff were on duty in a largely empty shop when my wife and I visited on Jan 1st. They were friendly and helpful but not aggressively pushy. Just a short walk of about 5 minutes from Aldgate East underground station, so easily accessible from Oxford Circus underground if you’re in that area to visit three other major photographic shops: Jessops, Park Cameras, and Cameraworld. Wex has a bigger floor area than all of those three combined.
