Ryan was absolutely excellent in helping us to trade in our previous equipment and upgrade to a new set up. He was very patient in explaining all our options and he always got back to us with any queries or to give us extra information. He sent us some very useful website links to help us make up our minds about some of the details in our purchases. He kept us up to date with delivery times and the new purchases even arrived early. Hello, I just discovered this store. The people who are working there are just amazing. I went there to get a microphone for my camera. Andy explained everything about mics and helped me to decide which one was perfect for my needs. He was so great that a few days later I came to trade in my old camera to get a new shiny toy that Andy recommended for videos and he was right. I'm over the moon with my purchase but even more impressed with the knowledge of people who work there. Best customer service in recent years. Those people should get some kind of reward :) Very happy customer. Will come back for more in the near future!

Was looking to change my camera and had an idea what I wanted. I dropped into Wex and had a chat with Andy about the camera I had in mind. He showed me images from the camera I was interested in and asked what I was looking to use the camera for . He then pointed out the benefits of buying a different model and how that would be a better fit for what I needed. Andy reserved the camera for me while I took a couple of days to decide. I returned a few days later and this time Celia dealt with me. I had old equipment that I wanted to trade in so Celia guided me through that part and the purchasing of my new camera. Andy and Celia were both a great help in finding the right camera for me and the purchasing of it. Both were approachable with extensive knowledge and very easy to talk with and I’m very pleased I bought my camera from Wex.

I went here the other day and had a brilliant experience. The man who served me, Leo, was super helpful and very patient. He spent a lot of time taking me though different options, and finding something that will work for me and my budget. He asked about my specific needs, what I'm interested in photographing, what I want to do with photography, and worked with that info with me to figure out what might work for me. He didn't rush me, or try to push me into buying anything right there and then. It was honestly a brilliant experience and so reassuring. I'd had a bad time at another local camera shop, where the staff were very dismissive of me, and tried to talk over my head to the man with me rather than to me. Wex couldn't have been more different. I felt listened to, and like the staff really wanted to help me find the right products for me, despite my small budget. I really highly recommend going here to anyone looking for photography equipment.

I had no idea these guys had an actual shop but that’s down to me not checking I guess. I went here with the intention of just having a look as there aren’t many camera shops around anymore. This is way more than just a camera shop. I was greeted by Phil who was very knowledgeable and listened to what I was saying with interest. And then there it was !!! The Canon f4.5-5.6L !!! This is in-fact my dream lens and so I had to have it. Very reasonably priced and in excellent condition for a used lens. We began the process of me purchasing it through finance and Chris made the whole thing effortless and pain free. Suffice to say I am now the proud owner of said lens. Also (I’m sorry but I didn’t get his name, I assume he was the manager) made me a lovely brew whilst all the boring stuff got done. So in summary WEX in Newcastle is well worth a visit and I would recommend them to anyone looking for any kind of photography equipment. Thank you so much Phil, Chris and Coffee man. Made my day !

Travelled 2 hrs up to Newcastle wex as the Leeds store had staffing issues that sounded like hassle to me. On arrival to the store the welcome was friendly and the service just got better Leo was so helpful I’m no camera expert and when investing over £2000 on a new lense his knowledge was invaluable. He guided me through the part exchange system and got me a good price for my old lense. I know it’s a 2hr drive but I will be doing it again when I need more equipment. Name the brand and you gonna get all products to view and get hands on experience. Staff is well qualified and very friendly. Bamboozled which camera to buy? Head along to Wex Gosforth and you will be put on the right track I must have spent hours scrolling online looking at cameras but to no avail and I wanted to hold the camera I was buying and get the feel of it first So I googled camera shops and Wex appeared and went along. I was approached by a nice friendly guy named Phil and i explained what I was after which in my case was a mirrorless camera which i could pop in my handbag and enjoyed doing portraits and macro but camera which i had was difficult to get blur in backgrounds And I also mentioned which cameras I had in the past And Phil said Ive got just the camera for you and showed me the fujifilm x100v which he actually said he had himself and let me have a look thru etc At no time did i feel under any pressure to buy was told I could go away have a think and if I wanted to cancel it wasnt a problem. The camera had to be ordered in and i did have a little wait but well worth it as I am enjoying going out and about with it When I went to pick it up the guy whom served me also mentioned he had same camera and another colleague. And as an added bonus you can have a free half hour lesson when youve tried your new camera out awhile so how about that!! Very happy with my purchase Val 60+

Purchased a high-end Canon Camera Lens from there "used" selection available online. Ordered Friday night, arrived Sunday morning, fast and reliable service. The lens itself was marked as grade 9+ , however it came with extra items that were not mentioned in the description (original box and lens case keys are always a bonus!), that you'd expect if purchasing a brand new lens, and the lens itself, personally it was 10/10 condition, not a single mark on it or spec of dust, and great value purchase for the price too. I visited today to purchase the fantastic Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f1.8 Wex Newcastle is a brilliant shop with a great range of products in-store as well as being able to order used products online to have a good look at try of. All of the staff are friendly, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable. The last twice I have visited the store I have talked with Ryan who is incredibly knowledgeable about all things Nikon and all things photography, camera's, tripods, bags, etc. The advice I have received from Ryan has been invaluable in my lens purchasing, future options of camera/lens upgrades, used equipment, and a range of great tips on general photography and on using certain lenses and cameras. My only regret is that I didn't go in-store for my initial camera purchase, as I'm sure that same advice would've helped make my money go further and would have given me a better, more informed start, to my photography. Brilliant store and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in photography, whether you're interested in starting or already do photography, the welcome and advice you will receive in store is far more valuable that just looking/purchasing online.

I had a great experience at Wex in South Gosforth last week. I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted and came out an hour later with exactly the right lens for me. Phil and Ryan were super helpful and Phil took the time to explain (with diagrams!) the options and to recommend the best lens for what I want to take pictures of and for my camera. You may be in danger of spending A Lot of money in there but it will be worth it for the craic and the great photography advice. Highly recommend!

Went into Wex to buy some camera equipment for our business. Was not aware of the store but directed there by someone who uses the store regularly. Was greeted by Ryan who helped me throughout the transaction. I went in with a spec list but was told that due to shortages worldwide that the equipment was not available. Ryan then directed me to some equipment which was slightly less expensive but easier to obtain and has some nice features we had overlooked. I was kept updated throughout the order process and given a final call today to confirm the items are ready to collect. Great advice and service, efficient delivery and competitive pricing. Best of all on the door step too rather than another anonymous website advertising product they don't have!

Went into wex last week a very nice guy Phil helped me explained all the different types of cameras what's new what the differences were (I'm just starting out) there was no hard sell but expert advice he was great as I did have lots of questions. The shop has a vast choice of cameras and lenses new and second hand they have a great range of camera bags I fact if you couldn't find what you were looking for I would be very surprised. I said I would go home and think about it and do some research. I went back in yesterday and bought my canon 90D a bag and a few bits and bobs. Was served by another very knowledgeable friendly man. I have been an online customer of Wex for many years and was delighted when I heard that they had opened a store in my area. I decided to pay them a visit yesterday as I was looking for a new camera bag. I made my very first visit to the Gosforth/Newcastle upon Tyne store where I was to come across a staff member called Phil. I'm intending to re start my hobby and was needing advice and equipment choices on a wide range of items and Phil guided me through and answered every question with such friendliness and professionalism: his knowledge and advice that I needed secured my mind into getting the right equipment for my needs for when I visit again to make the purchases. I must of spent a whole hour at the store with questions. Phil will be my main go to staff member on future visits. I have gained knowledge from Phil.... he doesn't push even when your not buying on the day.... he makes you want to visit again and you walk out feeling good and have shared an odd laugh as a bonus. The store was very spacious and organised. Very neet, clean and tidy. The other staff along with Phil were very friendly and all in all I had a very pleasant first visit. The staff members were all following covid safety measures by using face masks and having the right things that you would expect to stay safe. I am very much looking forward to my next visit to see Phil again for when I will be ordering the goods I want.
