Reviews of Physio Art

I have been a Physio Art client for many years, accessing physios for both injury and long term back problems as well as Pilates classes. Sarah and her team have my full trust and I don’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Their knowledge and care is second to none and they always go that extra mile to ensure that the treatment and advice you receive is personalised to your needs.

Physioart has built itself to be a clinic with a special vibe about it, a relaxed but professional space that allows the clients to feel listened to, whilst also knowing their receiving the optimum evidence based care. The physios working here really know their stuff, and are genuinely kind and brilliant people. Can’t recommend enough!

I have been attending Physio led 1 to 1 pilates run by Sophie at PhysioArt and it has really improved my low back pain. Sophie has been extremely supportive and knowledgeable throughout in getting my strength back up and it has made a significant difference to my day to day life. Would highly recommend.

I have used the services of Physio Art to treat three different conditions with a successful outcome on each occasion. Grateful thanks to both Sarah and Sophie. I have no hesitation in recommending Physio Art.

Many thanks to Kelly for my shoulder consultation today. Very professional and reassuring. A thorough assessment identified a slowly repairing injury and Kelly has talked through a number of rehab exercises to regain full function. These were then emailed to me with video demonstrations which was a real bonus! I would definitely recommend Physio Art to friends and family.

PhysioArt started zoom monthly pilates classes during lockdown. For someone who is clinically vulnerable it was truly a lifeline. There are now 9 classes a week to choose from and classes are tailored to your ability. Kathy is a motivator and I can honestly report that through regular class attendance, I am fitter and stronger than I was two years ago. Thank you Kathy.

I have been doing Pilates with Kathy at PhysioArt for many years now, and really enjoy her classes!! They are geared for all abilities and Kathy is always careful to give options for the less “able”! I feel I benefit a great deal from the classes, they keep me more flexible and help my back problem, as well as being an hour just for me.

Excellent physiotherapy services from Harriette at Physio Art. She has really helped to strengthen specific muscles and I have seen a great amount of improvement in my strength and stamina!

All the physios at PhysioArt are amazing and really know what they’re talking about. They treat their clients with empathy and understanding and make sure they are working towards the clients individual goals. Would definitely recommend.

I have been seeing Kelly now for about 4 weeks at the Priory. She’s been fantastic, she really listens to the story and takes all aspects of one’s lifestyle into consideration.
She has given me tailored exercises which appear on the PhysiApp making them very easy to follow. I am definitely improving and looking forward to getting back to doing what I love.
Would highly recommend.

Excellent Physio. I have been struggling with injuries and niggles in my knee for nearly a year, preventing me from running. Physio Art is my third physio trying to fix it. Harriett has worked out the issue, has put in place a rehab programme and I am now seeing good progress. Will be using Physio Art for all future injuries!

It’s fair to say that I am was at the end of my tether before seeking treatment at Physio Art with Sophie. I had terrible pain in my hips and glutes, and after two months of struggling, my mother-in-law suggested I try physio art as she had done. I was so impressed with not only the nurture and friendly approach of Sophie, but incredibly grateful to her for helping me get back to normal. Sophie really tried to get to know me and my health issues so she could make a full judgement of what treatment I needed. She worked on my muscles and suggested exercises and remedies. I can’t thank her enough. The pain was keeping me awake at night. I commend her for making me feel really comfortable and treating me like a human being. A truly wonderful setting to be in. Thank you Sophie! Xxx

I have a "frozen shoulder" and I'm only at the beginning of the treatment. From my first contact to actually seeing the physio Alex it was simple to get an appointment. Even though my shoulder is a work in progress I feel I'm in good hands - forgive the pun!

Posting on behalf of Fay Goodenough. Sarah Duncton is totally efficient and caring in every way. Without her support/ advice and physiotherapy both before and after my knee replacement 12 months ago my recovery would not have been so successful. I cannot thank her enough.
B. J.
PhysioArt are great at empowering you to make changes outside of your physio sessions. I have always felt taken care of and listened to through PhysioArt's consultation process which has helped me to understand pain and injury. Thank you

Ruth at Physio Art has worked wonders for me with clear, supportive and always encouraging physio treatment and advice over the past few months. I cannot believe the difference that this has made to my mobility and I feel ready to recommence regular running!

Over-ambitious participation in Couch to 5k during lockdown led to knee injury. Another physio told me my running & tennis days were over. Sarah encouraged me, gave me an exercise programme and knee problem is now controlled. Thank you.

I was suffering from chronic lower back pain for 7months. After one appointment with Chris Drissell my pain was significantly improved and my mobility is now returning to normal. Great expertise in physiotherapy. Would highly recommend.

I saw Kelly yesterday (after a long gap of not attending Physio Art) and was really pleased with her advice and the plan which she has given me to improve my mobility and fitness. I'm looking forward to being able to turn my life around under the watchful and skilful eyes of the Physio Art Team.

I have been at physioart for about 6 months and my strength and stamina has increased massively. As a chronically ill person who is also neurodivergent I needed someone who understood all aspects of me and I was so lucky to find that here.

Professional physiotherapy service. Conveniently located on Harborne Lane. Efficiently deals with private health insurance companies.
Alex has been great in treating my football injury which was starting to become chronic.

Physio Art have a great understanding of how the body works and how to improve any issues you may be having. The team is understanding and supportive as well as knowledgeable.

Great experience with Kelly, she is very experienced and knowledgeable and explained everything very well. She took the time to really understand the issues and has made a real difference!

After suffering from 6 mths of jaw pain but accompanied by the feeling of dislocation on the left side, which restricted me from yawning properly, I met with Harriette, a TMJ specialist. After one meeting with a full explanation of what was happening and an exploration as to the possible causes (which BTW were spot on!), she got me going with some moblisation, massage and a change in my habits. A week later (actually days later), the absolute relief, (physically and mentally) has been nothing short of pure bliss! I can yawn fully again but not without smiling and praising Harriette every time for what I can only regard as her TLC for my TMJ! Seriously a great specialist as well as a beautiful soul <3
S. D.
I can highly recommend the Physio Art team of physios. They are all dedicated to being the best clinicians they can be, kind, caring and compassionate people who love getting you back to doing the things you love to do.

As an 88 year old woman with bursitis in my hip I expected a slow recovery but thanks to Ruth’s patience and care it has taken very few weeks to be almost pain free.

Sam diagnosed tennis elbow and provided a regime of exercises to strengthen and repair the damaged tendons. Excellent, professional service. Highly recommended.

I went into physio during quarantine thinking that it was a long shot. Becky was fantastic, its obviously tough doing the initial assessment without being able to feel and really observe from every angle of someones body, but she knew what she was looking for. The knowledge she held was great, she really debunked a few things for me and helped me to see improvement over the course of my treatment. Really great service always smiling and always happy to help, even outside of the appointments. Thank you!

DATE: MAY 2021
I was first diagnosed with Tibialis Posterior Tendinitis in my feet in January 2019.
Having visited several specialists, worn an air boot for approximately 14 months on one foot and then the other, received several steroid injections, some physiotherapy and hydrotherapy treatments and suffered several setbacks, I honestly believed that I would never be able to walk properly again.
I could only walk for about 10 minutes pain free around the house and needed to use a wheelchair for any longer distance outside of the house. The effect on my life was both physical and mental, I was prescribed various medications including, anti-depressants, muscle relaxants, nerve tablets and pain killers, none of which addressed the basic problem of not being able to walk.
I was recommended to contact Sarah Duncton at Physio Art in August 2020 and was lucky enough to get a face-to-face appointment with her on 7th September 2020.
From my first consultation with Sarah, I felt completely at ease, she took the time to listen when I explained my problems and fears, and she explained the science behind pain. She gave examples of how there is a strong connection between physical pain and how the brain can interpret it, particularly in someone who has experienced it for a long period of time.
By the end of the consultation, I left feeling lifted and more positive than I had felt since before my initial diagnosis. Sarah had given me hope, she also asked me to send her an E mail detailing all the things that I hoped to achieve, and over the last few months, with Sarah’s help, expertise, guidance, exercises, and support, I have managed to achieve almost everything on my list, (except the overseas travel which I intend do in September this year if the Covid restrictions permit.)
I continue to progress with my strength and balance and can walk for up to 2 hours pain free, my fitness levels are also improving, and I have also regained my confidence. I have already reduced a lot of my medication, particularly the anti-depressants, muscle relaxants and pain killers and am continuing to gradually eliminate them.
I have nothing but praise for Sarah and will be forever grateful to her for giving me my life back.

I've been doing PhysioArt's Online Pilates for Runners classes twice a week since lockdown and can highly recommend them. Having run sporadically for a few years, I got regular injuries and never really managed to get into a groove of running regularly - or further - until now. The classes have helped me build the strength I need to support my running. I did the couch to 5K at first - with no injuries, and have since progressed to running three times a week, and managing to do distances of 10-12K in one go. I put this success down to the great advice and instruction in Sarah's specialist Pilates class.

I have been suffering with sciatic pain caused by herniated disk. I have been seen by several consultants, physiotherapists and osteopaths and I wish I skipped them all and went straight to Physio Art. Only after two sessions with Sarah I feel like myself again - recovering well, active and in control of my body and mind. Sarah is extremely attentive, knowledgeable and up to date with latest research and treatment methods. I would highly recommend Physio Art to anyone who needs a physio therapist.

Really impressed with the virtual physio session that my son had yesterday. Becky was very thorough and patient with my teenager which meant that he was immediately put at ease and able to communicate the issue clearly. I was impressed too with her attention to detail and the fact that she went on to set exercises that were obviously tailored to meet his specific needs rather than a set of pre-prescribed exercises that you usually get for this sort of thing. And the follow up email that we got with the strengthening exercises set out was a really nice touch too.
It was a proper physio session just virtual!

Physio Arts online pilates classes have been absolutely amazing over the last few months. I have really enjoyed the classes as they are manageable around my work and provide a great start to the day. I have found my strength and flexibility has improved, and I really love the social aspect of getting together as a class. Long may they continue!!"

I came to Physio Art as a runner nearing despair! I had a recurring, niggly calf injury which I could not seem to get past and so I feared that my running days might be over. This was despite having received physiotherapy elsewhere and despite having painstakingly followed rehabilitation plans on more than one occasion.
Sarah immediately inspired confidence with her attentive listening and ability to pinpoint other weaknesses which might have been contributing to the problem. She set me going on a back-to-running programme that has developed over the weeks and months and, despite bumps on the road, I am now contemplating returning, if only there were any races, to running the half marathons which I was so enjoying and last ran in 2017.
Along the way I have also come to realise that Sarah is something of an expert in the subject of pain and the strange things it does to the body and the mind. I now wonder if all the 'hands-on' therapy I had received before was actually part of the problem and whether, if I had had the good fortune to come to see Sarah in the first place, I might have avoided years in the running wilderness.
Physio Art is also a very efficient organisation and friendly and pleasant to deal with. I recommend it highly.

Sarah has an incredible knack of asking just the right questions she needs to really understand what is going on. Sarah treated my teenage daughter with genuine respect and care throughout the video consultation and managed to really get to the bottom of what the problem was. Sarah demonstrated an incredible knowledge of anatomy and function and was able to provide fantastic advice and a clear plan for my daughter to follow.
Sarah is an exceptional physiotherapist and I recommend her without hesitation.

For nearly 15 years I have been using Physio Art and in that time through holistic and carefully explained stretches and strengthening exercises I have recovered fully from any sporting injuries I have picked up.
All physios have the same professional and compassionate traits that make you feel fully at ease during a session.
Alternative therapy including acupuncture has been used to treat me and constant training that the physios partake in means new techniques are integrated into my treatment.
I also had the pleasure of Pilates sessions too - again professional caring and very very relaxing.
L. R.
I have been visiting Sarah for a number of years initially for a recurring lower back problem that has now completely been resolved. Sarah treats you holistically and pragmatically to adapt to you and your lifestyle. She is very thorough and the acupuncture I have been receiving as well as advice and exercises are helping me to change my posture and addressing neck and carpal tunnel issues. The treatments always have a long term focus not just a short term solution which is why I always come back. Would recommend

I had an appointment with Sarah D on recommendation from another of her clients. I had broken my clavicle (collar bone) which had healed but left me standing and walking unevenly.
Sarah listened, watched and examined my shoulder and back very carefully – indeed the most thorough medical examination I have ever had!
Sarah gave me exercises to do at home that have made a terrific difference and got to the core of my injury. Many, many thanks to Sarah and PhysioArt.
S. D.
Amazing! The team are always friendly and professional. My treatment was excellent. Thanks!

I was sceptical of the value of "online physio" but I have been delighted by the service I have received. Initial assessment by Becky was comprehensive and easy to deliver online. The subsequent exercise programme has meant that the rotator cuff injury I had struggled with for months has resolved greatly and allowed a return to normal activity. I could not be more grateful! Thank you.

I’ve benefitted so much from Physio Art’s friendly and professional services over the last 5 years. In 2015, I started attending one of Kathy Lamb's weekly group Pilates classes, which was fun and effective post-hysterectomy rehab! In Jan 2018, I had a one-off physio appointment with Kev Tucker, which resulted in an iffy knee being fit for skiing. 18 months ago, after surgery for an ankle fracture/dislocation, to complement NHS physio at QE, I had 1 to 1 Pilates classes with Kathy, before resuming my group class (4 to 5 participants). More recently, during lockdown, I was knocked off my bike, damaging ligaments in my shoulder joint. I was x-rayed and patched up at QE minor injuries unit, and advised physio was essential over the coming weeks/months, to restore function, but……the physio I saw briefly then informed me I had do do it alone, as QE out-patient physio was closed, due to Covid-19. Physio Art came to my rescue - thank you! I had a brilliant virtual appointment with physiotherapist, Becky Houghton. Via video consultation, she assessed my injury, tweaked my technique for the exercises I’d already begun, and advised, emailing more exercises, further motivating me. There’s been significant improvement, and I have a follow-up with Becky, to progress my rehab through graded exercises. I’m looking forward to resuming my normal activities (cycling, jogging, Pilates, swimming (when Government allows!) and playing viola and piano!) in the not too distant future, thanks to Physio Art's fantastic help!

Having exhausted all NHS routes available to me, and after months of feeling utterly depressed that I would never run again with my ongoing Achilles heel injury, I was recommended to Sarah and Physio Art - something I will be forever grateful for. Sarah's passion for her specialism and getting the best for her patients resonated from the first minute of the initial consultation, and her unfailing positivity, based on accurate diagnosis and cutting edge knowledge, kept me going through the follow up treatment. I am now running again and loving it! It makes you realise in the end that some physios are a cut above the rest.

I had a lumbar fracture following which I had physiotherapy for three years with two different physiotherapists elsewhere. The improvement was very little. It did not help me to make a change to my life and I struggled on. I got fed up with a restricted life and saw Sarah Duncton at Physioart who eventually helped me to walk and run. Her asessment and treatment helped me to lead a normal life. I would highly recommend Sarah who is also a good motivator and a lady that knows Pilates well! I am forever thankful to Sarah!

The online Pilates classes are great for home-workers. The perfect antidote for days spent in front of the computer. The classes are short and scheduled at convenient times, morning and afternoon. So, in many ways, it's better than traipsing across town to do a studio session. The instructors are highly qualified physiotherapists. They observe and give feedback via the zoom sessions so you know you are doing the exercises correctly and safely. At this price, it's a total no-brainer.

My daughter saw Sarah for a hip injury that had plagued her throughout her athletics season. After giving a few simple exercises that were easy for my 12 year old to follow, her hip pain has completely resolved and she is running faster than ever!! Wholeheartedly recommend!
S. N.
I have had one session with Sarah Duncton. I had seen my GP a couple of times with hip and knee issues and had been told to expect it at my age of 65 and it would gradually get worse. Sarah actually listened to me and bothered to find out what activities I did and what the functional effect of the problems was. I had a thorough examination and she identified the areas which I could improve by specific exercises. Its early days yet but I left feeling much more confident.
C. B.
Sarah provides an excellent service- professional, competent, engaging, positive in outlook. She is up to date on the latest research relating to her field. She gives you complete confidence that together you will be able to successfully tackle the issues you are facing. She explains carefully the rationale and science behind everything she asks you to do. I couldn't recommend her more highly, she has me running again when I despaired of that ever happening!
D. H.
I was recommended in 2010 to take advice from Sarah Duncton on a lower back and leg issue I had been struggling with for a number of years. Her help and assistance from other members of her team has been invaluable and I have no hesitation in recommending Physio Art. I may have hit retirement age but am more active now than I was 5/6 years ago and with a regular review from Sarah I am confident of that continuing.

I have been in pain for 10 years. It has affected my ability to work and stopped me from doing any of my hobbies, which had left me in a dark place. I have seen countless NHS specialists, as well as private physiotherapists, each one failing to find anything wrong with me and unable to help me further.
I had given up and truly believed that I would be like this for the rest of my life. My life turned into doing everything I could to continue working for as long as possible and dreading the day when the pain would be too much and I'd be unable to work.
Then I met Sarah Duncan at PhysioArt. She listened to my story, asked questions and had diagnosed me within the first session. She has seen so many cases like mine, where people have been let down by the NHS, left to feel hopeless and alone.
She explained how she had helped these people and how she could do the same for me. After the first session, I had understood what the cause of my pain was, which is something no one could tell me in 10 years. My understanding of pain had been flipped on its head and most importantly, she addressed my fear, making me realise I can get my old life back. My goals of where I want to be have become her goals and together we will achieve them.
I am now the fittest I have been since I was a teenager and after every session with Sarah I feel reinvigorated, more knowledgeable and know what I need to do to progress further. My family and friends have seen the big difference in me in both health and happiness.
I could not recommend Sarah and her PhysioArt team highly enough. Not only has she removed my fear of pain, but has significantly improved my quality of life.

I saw Sarah Duncton with my back problem. She took time in the consultation to understand the history of this problem then provided appropriate physiotherapy which eliminated my back pain and restored my back flexibility. She taught me exercises that keep my back flexible. I am very grateful for her professional expertise which resulted in such effective treatment.
L. S.
I've been going to Kathy Lamb's Pilates classes at Physio Art for some years now. Her absolute focus on good technique and her enthusiasm are brilliant. The small classes mean virtually one to one tuition, and best of all, the classes are fun. I would definitely recommend them.
H. B.
Extremely welcoming and friendly. Great knowledge with a very patient tailored response

I visited Sarah for sudden onset shoulder pain. Really impressed by her manner and care. One session has made a massive difference and also helped me think about my long term health. Very impressive service would definitely recommend.
E. R.
Would recommend wholeheartedly...I was recommended to use PhysioArt several years ago & it's my first stop whenever I have any joint-related issues & I have never been disappointed. Sarah & her team are punctual, professional and positive. I never fail to recommend them to friends and colleagues - and always receive positive feedback so it's not just MY experiences that have been excellent!

I visited Sarah Duncton at Physio Art, Birmingham December 2016 due to excruciating pain in my lower back. Sarah has the most calming disposition and her holistic approach to the situation was amazing. Sarah seemed to ask all the right questions enabling me to get a full sense of what was happening, I found this reassuring and incredibly useful. Sarah taught me gentle stretches to support the release of the tension in my lower back therefore naturally relieving the pain. A subsequent visit then moved me into the next stage of recovery as Sarah taught me mobilising techniques and straightforward movements to strengthen my body and aim to prevent this from reoccurring. How good is all of that? In two sessions!
G. S.
I went on the recommendation of a neighbour for a shoulder problem that I'd had for several months. The physiotherapist was excellent. She took some time to diagnose the problem and explained very well the issue. I then got a series of simple exercises to do with a resistance band. After a second appointment, I got some different exercises which soon cleared up the problem completely. I would recommend without reservation.
N. B.
All the staff are friendly and knowledgable. I've had the physios here support me through a few minor sports injuries and their rehab and preventative stretches and strengthening exercises have really improved my physical state. And at an affordable rate! Would absolutely reccomend.
A. N.
Sarah is an excellent physio! Patient orientated and a good listener. I feel much more positive about my injury and am I making good progress, working towards running again soon.
R. W.
Great physio service. Sarah offered clear instruction and simple steps to follow, which enabled me to recover quickly after a broken collarbone. Highly recommended.
S. G.
The professionalism and friendly atmosphere at Physio Art makes the place very welcoming. And the later opening hours makes it so convenient for me to book appointments after work. The staff are knowledgeable of my disabilities and listen to my concerns. Thanks Physio Art!
C. P.
I recommend Sarah Duncton to anyone I meet who has ongoing aches or pains. Not only does she have a great knowledge of musculoskeletal issues she will recommend postural or rehab exercises to help ensure you move out of the patterns that led to the problem so you don't keep re-injuring yourself. Most valuable of all is her holistic approach- through carefully listening she helped me realise that stress and anxiety were playing a major role in my recurring muscular pain and tension, which was a 'lightbulb' moment in managing my issues. I can't sing her praises highly enough!
K. D.
The friendly team at Physio Art are extremely knowledgable and brilliant at what they do. Sarah Duncton treated a running injury of mine and she immediatley knew precisely what the problem was, and how to proceed in order to encourage recovery and make it strong enough to run on again (in fact far stronger than before).
I have also been seen by Reena Vaja who used Kinesio taping to alleviate the problems caused by my bunions. I have NEVER been able to balance like I now can with the tape in place. Both my running and my Karate are radically improved. I can't thank the team at Physio Art enough! I am thoroughly enjoying the confidence this new lease of life has given me!
E. S.
Excellent treatment and very helpful team for me and my boyfriend.

Sarah and the team are incredibly positive, proactive and at the top of their game. Excellent bunch of friendly and knowledgable physios not to forget Sara in the office who holds it all together! Always recommend 👍

Very happy with my personal experience. Alex Deutsch helped me understand what my lumbar problem was and gave me the exercises and motivation to improve substantially in weeks. I would come back again if needed, no doubt
