Great experience in the clinic in recent days during my recent visit for my sports massage therapy appointment with Beth Vance. I got a wonderful welcome from staff and it the clinic had a great vibe around it as someone who has mild learning difficulties of Cerebral Palsy I can sometimes find it challenging going into certain types of environments. It made it far better knowing and having had Beth as a trusted therapist for 9.5 years prior to the most recent visit and Beth already had a great understanding of what I require as a client so it made it far better for me and easier for myself to adopt Beth explaining everything to me. As a clinic Optimal are very fortunate and extremely lucky to have somebody of Beth Vance’s quality and calibre and expertise. I look forward to being welcomed back to Optimal physiotherapy Clarkston very soon.

I had a consultation with Optimal after sustaining a golfing injury. Kirsty was great at identifying the problem and gave me the right exercises to aid my recovery. With each visit she would tweak the programme slightly and I've seen huge improvements over the last 5 weeks. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Highly recommend the team at Optimal Physio. Broke my foot after falling over the dog and spent 11weeks in a boot feeling I would not be able to cycle or go on long walks again. They explained fully what my injury had done to my foot and put together an excellent rehab programme, that was emailed to me after every session, with great encouragement and now I am pain free and back to full fitness. Thank you for giving me back my confidence and ability to enjoy my hobbies again.

I bring my own problems, as I still play competitive squash and racketball into my 70s. So once or twice a year a calf pings, a shoulder strains or a ham gets strung. I have been going to Stephen for years now, and he will always sort me out, after some initial manipulation; but more specifically giving me the right stretches to correct things , with input as to how I avoid the same injury again. He is very knowledgeable and always wants to get me back playing soonest, which is something I really appreciate !

First went to see Steven over a year and a half ago, not being able to walk much due to Achilles issues on both feet, short term exercises to help with pain management into long term goals have finally got me back to being normal again, Steven was very good at explaining each muscle and why I was feeling pain. Today I met with Kirstie for an initial consultation and treatment, and I am now feeling extremely positive about moving towards being injury free. Kirstie was very thorough in her assessment of my injury and has provided a detailed plan of exercises to aid my recovery. I feel extremely confident in her diagnosis and the recommended treatment. I have been emailed exactly what to do and have access to an app with my exercises pre-loaded so that I can track my progress. I also have to mention the beautiful practice and very high standard of cleanliness. The whole experience has been wonderful and I look forward to future appointments with Kirstie to monitor my recovery and to keep moving towards my goal of returning to the types of exercise I love!

His direct application of physio and accompanying video exercises worked wonders for me within short period of time. I had a prolapsed disc in my back, suffered from sciatica and in a lot of pain. Recommended by a friend I went to optimal physio to help with my recovery. I was seen first by Kirstie and then by Steven. Was given exercises, massage and advice how to manage pain and recover from injury. With there help I have made a full recovery and pain free. Just recently went to Canada and had an active holiday. This would not have been possible without there help and treatment. All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. They treat the whole person not just the injury.

Highly recommend. I had a foot injury with a painful right ankle for about 5 months and asked Steven for help. He diagnosed over the online session and explained the cause and solution clearly and patiently. During the face-to-face appointment, he used the technology to assess my walking and running gait and visualise my problem for a better understanding. The tailored recovery and exercise plans were encouraging and effective. It’s been really great to get back to running and football now. For me, the service from Steven was not only just a physiotherapy but also a re-comprehension of the sports with decreasing risks and injuries and proactive recovering. Highly recommended. Had pain in both knees and was concerned running may be harming them as well as the daily discomfort. Steven diagnosed over an online session and was very positive and reassuring, explaining clearly cause and resolution. It was great that I could proactively tackle the problem without stopping running. Over many years I had pain in my knees/back/ankles whilst running and exercising. Steven undertook a very thorough analysis of my condition and explained very succinctly what the nature of my issues were. He then provided a tailored recovery and exercise plan for me and was very encouraging and supporting throughout the entire process. I had a whiplash injury from a cycling accident with a very painful, stiff neck for 6 months. Tried another physio prior with not much improvement. Steven was great and helped me get back to normality and 2 months later I have no pain and full movement again! I have seen Steven for a couple of issues in the past and most recently for a shoulder problem. Due to Covid everything was done by video which worked surprisingly well. Focus was on getting pain relief first, then a full rehab. My exercises were also specifically geared to get me back to playing golf. Very happy to recommend. Always remember that you and the physio are a team and you do have to stick with the exercises provided to you to get the best results.

Steven has been brilliant in assessing links between past and current injuries. Using technology to properly assess my gait (both walking and running) and then visually show the results has helped me to understand a) the problem and b) the therapy plan. Fantastic experience! Excellent knowledge from the team at Optimal Physio. I went with what was diagnosed as a tendinopathy in my right arm. It was treated with shock treatment and I was given a plan to move forward with. All of questions were answered which were easy to understand, and clearly came from someone who knows their subject. I have used Optimal Physio a couple of times now for two separate problems and would highly recommend them. Steven was excellent. He took time to fully understand the problem and what it meant for me, manage my expectations and set realistic goals. By following his exercises, my function was hugely improved and pain gone. I went to see Steven McLean at Optimal Physio earlier this year to try and sort an ongoing injury that had been causing me trouble for almost 6 months. I had already seen 2 other physiotherapists at another clinic for my issue and hadn't made any progress at all. But after my first appointment with Optimal Physio, I felt like I was on the right track. Steven is very knowledgeable, took time explaining what he thought the problem was and gave me a very thorough exercise plan. I've had many follow up appointments, initially at the clinic, and more recently, via video call and finally feel like I'm well on the road to recovery. Previously I had been running 70/80 km a week, playing football and fitness was an integral part of my lifestyle. Not only for my physical wellbeing but so important for my mental health too. A pain began in my groin that would stop me from enjoying exercise but would force me to rest and even miss out on social activities. This went on for 2 to 3 years and even at the age of just 35 I began to think that maybe I was just getting old and would have to give up running. Eventually I contacted the NHS who over the next few months tried to diagnose the problem, including X-rays to my hip and various other tests that never got to the root of the problem. By this time I had put on weight, my mood was low and I had given up running and football due to the pain and discomfort it created. I moved to Glasgow and decided enough was enough and I would begin to look for a way to recover. I did a web search and Optimal popped up. The more I researched the more Optimal popped up, reading the reviews also made me decide that I would contact Optimal and make an appointment. From the first appointment Steven was able to confidently diagnose my problem and told me that although it would be a lot of hard work he would be able to help me recover. To be honest I was so low at the time I really didn’t know if I believed him but I was willing to try. I found the exercise app and encouragement from Steven one of the things that helped keep me on track. Steven and I talked about what I was missing out on, my goals and how much returning to running and football would mean to me. Having never done any strength and conditioning the programme was tough and new to me but I stuck with it and started to see the benefits. Now I am back to my old self and running 5km in 20 minutes. Something I thought was no longer possible! I cannot thank Steven enough for not only listening to me but also believing that I could get back to my activities. He has always been there to support me when I have doubted the process and I could not have recovered my identity and sense of purpose without committing to the plan of care so carefully constructed by Steven and the team. I would highly recommend Optimal, not just because they have taken the pain of my injury away but because they were empathetic and supportive and helped me find the things I lost from before I decided to pursue my recovery.

I thought pain and stiffness were a normal part of ageing and that limits on everyday activities just had to be accepted. Then, over a few weeks, my left shoulder became stiff and painful, I was unable to put on my jacket and the pain kept me awake at night. I attended Steven and after a thorough assessment he diagnosed a frozen shoulder. He prescribed a course of exercises, with a helpful online exercise video, to do between visits. After 6 visits the shoulder regained most of its flexibility and the pain reduced markedly. I continued the exercises until the problem was resolved. I’ve learned that getting old (I’m 71) does not mean you have to accept painful stiff joints.
