After years of suffering with lower back pain and unable to walk any distance due to an herniated disc , I was recommended by a friend to see if Paul could help me , after 1 visit and doing the exercises he gave me I feel my back nerve pain is feeling a lot better , Paul explains everything so clearly he made me feel at ease being a (68 year old lady ) Paul is definitely an expert at his job and generally cares about the people he treats I would 100% recommended him . Thank you Paul !

Paul has the magic touch, he took the time to understand my discomfort and treated me with such patience and care . His knowledge and approach was amazing. I will definitely be referring my own clients, friends and family! Equally I will not hesitate to revisit when needed. Highly recommend 5 ⭐️

Paul is by far and away the best physio I have ever seen. With a history of ankle problems, I have seen many physios and chiros, in a few different countries. Some have been loaded with qualifications, many have read all the latest papers and most have given me extensive training programmes to follow closely at home. Paul, however, is different. No doubt due to his remarkable experience in top-level professional sport, he takes an "I'll sort it out" approach instead. (Probably because, in his previous jobs, he was responsible for getting players fit for the following Saturday)
He really has changed my life - a year ago, following surgery on my foot and years of pain, I was struggling to walk and things we only getting worse. After a few sessions with Paul and his incredibly precise observations, thoughtful diagnosis and treatment, I was on the mend and now I am able to run pretty much pain free.
Paul is well qualified, without doubt knows his stuff, yet he will treat you extensively and then even give you simple, short video clips he's made himself, if you want to continue the rehab at home. There cannot be ANYONE with the experience he has. Quite literally, he must have treated thousands of ankles, knees, hips, backs etc. He's seen it all, over and over again. Trust me - give him a chance, and he'll make you better.

I was recommended to Maxwell Physio for a persistent hip problem that no other health professional could neither explain nor fix. After 3 sessions of shockwave therapy and a series of excercises I am very pleased to say that the pain has subsided and I'm fixed! I want to say thank you for your patience and perseverance when I was ready to accept that I'd just have to put up with it. Paul's knowledge and skill is second to none and I would not hesitate to recommend Maxwell Physio to anyone. Don't just put up with the pain like I nearly did.
Thank you

By far the best physio I've seen. professional, friendly and brilliant at his job. Due to run an ultra marathon in the coming weeks which I didn't think would be possible due to injuries. Within a few weeks, I was back up and running. The advice and treatment I received was brilliant. Dont look no further than paul

The best physio I've ever seen. I went to see Paul as I was still getting pain in my ankle a year after ligament reconstruction surgery. He hasnt left a stone unturned. My ankle is feeling 10 times better than it ever has. I chose Paul not only because I knew of him from his Argyle days but also because he has also worked at other top clubs. I just wish I knew he was down here again when I first injured my ankle. Absolute gentleman and 110% knows his stuff. I would recommend him to anyone

So the story begins:
I am a 53 year old Ex Paratrooper, who served 24 years in her Majesty’s Armed Forces, with various injuries strains and pains gained while in service.
Back in March 2020, during the first lockdown, I went for a short road run with my 24 year old son. Afterwards I felt ok, just a little sore. As the days went on I found it hard to put weight on my foot and struggled to walk at all without excrutating pain in the arch of my left foot. (Never suffered with my feet like this before). Due to the lock down it was impossible to get a doctor’s appointment, so I self-diagnosed. I finally discovered I was suffering with Planter Fasciitis. I self-medicated with Ibruprophen, rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), but things didn’t get any better. This went on for a few months, and the pain was relentless especially after a day in boots at work. Eventually I realised that no matter what I did I would not be able to self-treat this. It was becoming very frustrating as I had been fairly fit and a regular gym goer beforehand.
Paul Maxwell was recommended to me by a friend, so I decided to give it go! After only three, once a week sessions of Shockwave therapy, Ultra sound, Massage, and stretching exercises, the pain from the Planter Fasciitis had almost gone, however I was left with a bruised heel pad/spur. I continued with Paul, who adjusted the treatment to suit, and after a further three more once weekly sessions, I left with more stretching, and rehab runs.
A few months down the road and a lot of steady runs, mainly using the Couch to 5k app on my phone to slow me down! I am now back to regular training, smashing 5km every other day, and the injury is now well behind me.
I can’t recommend Paul Maxwell enough; he’s a cracking down to earth bloke with a vast amount of knowledge, and enthusiasm, explains everything in great detail, and once his treatment was complete, he did not extend any unnecessary treatment for the sake of it! I would definitely go back to him if I have any more issues.
Thanks Paul! Amazing!

I'd first heard of Paul Maxwell from a renowned Plymouth runner called Frank Elford. "If you ever have an injury" he said "go to the Paul Maxwell, physio, rehab and fitness studio, he's the best"
Last year I began to have problems with my achilles and, after trying all the home remedies I knew, I remembered Frank's advice, I checked out Paul's website. By this time the injury had got so bad that I couldn't run at all, so I contacted Paul to see if he could help.
From my first session with Paul, I felt confident that he would be able to help - he uses shock wave therapy on injuries like mine and though he understood my wish to get back to running asap, he explained that it would take a while.
I had about 9 or 10 sessions with Paul and in that time he'd already got me back to running, building up slowly but at least I'd started running again.
My achilles is fine now and I'm gradually increasing the distance I can run. Maybe I should mention that I'm 72 years young - and whilst I'm by no means a fast or long distance runner, getting out there and running is a big part of my life.
I can't thank Paul enough, his credentials are second to none (check his website and see for yourself) and he really cares about helping his clients to stay fit.

I’ve never left a google recommendation before, but felt compelled to do so on this Occasion,
I turned up to paul really gutted about a knee injury that was getting me down, He went through a series of examination, all of which made sense to me considering my injury, I came away feeling so positive and really impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. 100% recommended.
