Visited here on the 28/01/2022 for my wife’s birthday, and I must say it was incredible. The food was so tasty and we will definitely be returning for more. The staff were really friendly and even made the effort to bring out a vanilla cheesecake with a candle in for my wife. Many thanks see you again.

Good location, excellent ambience need reservation, but highly expensive, food portions are less so you’re never full their cocktails are very good, a bit crowded and noisy no room for two only window seats available, it’s good place for quick catch up not for long stay as it’s expensive we started our date and ended with many portions just to realise we blew 150 pounds in 2 hours 😱😱

Been here before, about a month ago and the food was great although the only downside was that the women toilets were not so clean and smelled a bit as well. Came back recently and this time the toilets were clean and smelled really nice and also the black lady that is in charge of cleaning the toilet is very lovely and beautiful. Can't wait to come back again.

Was looking at the menu outside and a patron advise us not to patronise it (was not sure what he meant but I think it was something about the food portion). We went ahead anyway, the food and service were decent. However the food portion was really small for main course, more like tapas size. I was surprise to only see 3 pieces of ravioli for my order. The place was also extremely rowdy and noisy for a dinner date. get that it won't be quiet on a Friday evening since there's a bar but I had to literally shout that day to my friend sitting across the table.

Fumo has the best service of any restaurant I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Impressive given it was full to capacity. The serving staff are instinctual and perceptive. The food is fun and sweet tasting. Fumo offers an interesting slant on food delivery: it’s tapas, Italian style. Good for groups and good for a fancy night out given the opulent cocktail bar decor. Quality of food is excellent and delivery is super quick. Being an Italian restaurant it we ride not to have an espresso based coffee before departing. Very impressive.

Amazing place for a date night. They had social distancing down to a T when we visited in early July 2020. Very professional service and big wide booths separated by clear plastic screens. The cocktails are AMAZING. As is the Peroni! We had some snacks to accompany our drinks. Avoid the lobster ravioli, we paid £15 for three pieces of ravioli, although it was very tasty...!

Visited Fumo for a friends birthday. Was very busy. Food was good. Was advised by the server to order extra as the portions are small but I found this to be the opposite. The portions are reasonable. The tuna tartare was prepared at the table which was interesting to watch. I’d visit again.

Great food just in the wrong order,I ordered seabass ,ravioli and steak the steak came out first two seconds later the sea bass, he tried to tell me its Italian tapas, but you dont eat sea bass with steak, so I sent the steak back as it would have been cold by the time ide eaten my fish. You cant fault the food its excellent just the crazy random order it arrived. Also object to paying a service charge for waiting 15 mins at the bar to be served a drink !

Very fast and attentive service. Would be five star but they will not allow you to book for 2 people, this meant that we turned up and were told it'd be a 50min wait. After complaining we got a drink and were seated within 15mins. Food is excellent and tasty. Busy atomsphere and low lighting make it a cosy place to eat.

Always a busy lunch stop. Tapas Italian and a place you always end up coming out of full in the tummy but much lighter in the wallet. It's easy to have a high bill when your caught up with wine and food with good service. They pack you in here so it's not intimate. Easy going.

The customer service at Fumo is excellent. The restaurant is airy and well presented. The wait staff are respectful and extremely professional. They are considerate when assessing dietary needs and will take the time to explain dishes. The meal was delicious Buffalo Mozzarella grilled roasted squash, pumpkin seed, Margherita the classic pizza of Naples with tomato, buffalo mozzarella accompanied by other side dishes. I didn’t give it 5 stars as middle of the table was sticky although we did alert staff and their were apologetic. Given the climate we are in - hygiene is paramount. That said, I would still recommend this restaurant.

Such a lovely atmosphere here, I took my partner here for our anniversary and we both enjoyed ourselves. It can get a little busy on weekends and it is a shame you can't book a table unless you have a party of 6+, but you can order all of the same food at the bar so isn't too inconvenient. Will definitely be back again soon!

The food was excellent, I had rack of lamb which was superb, well seasoned, succulent very tasty, my friend had the sea bass which she loved as did my other friend who had the salmon. The only thing that stops this being a 5 star review was the prawns that were ordered which neither of them liked & only took one bite. Fumo is one of the best places to eat in the city and let's hope it stays that way.

We visited this establishment and the service was excellent. The calamari was the best thing. However for a restaurant that caters with medium to high end prices, it is a bit too much. There are better restaurants for the price you pay. The portions are small... the risotto was rubbish if not the worst. I felt the waiter was selling and recommending it because they are trying to push for its sale. Overwhelming taste of red wine. Would I go back? Unless I have to for a corporate meeting or dinner but willingly I won't...

Firstly the decor is warming and amazing looking inside and your approached by lovely staff on arrival, if my review was based on cocktails it would be 5/5 they are amazing, but it’s based on the food we had a lot of tomato based dishes and me and my friend couldn’t help but think the tomato base tasted like our kids baby food that’s just our opinion and it sure some people with beg to differ but based on food we won’t be returning. Me and my husband attended Fumo for the first time, to celebrate our first year marriage anniversary. The food is ok, but vegetarian options are a bit limited. Which I understand. However I do recommend that the menu labels clearly what is vegetarian as it got a bit confusing for myself. The menu does detail what the item is but would be better to clearly mark which items are vegetarian. Customer service was at times really slow, with the waiters not really coming back to take the order. However there were some waiters that were so lovely especially one lady waiter who helped so much. We had raised our concerns to Francesco who did his best to resolve our issues and ensure we are happy. Not many places would do but he did his best to resolve our issues and ensure we left happy. He was great, and I believe an asset to the restaurant. Thank you for making the end of our evening great!

My favourite restaurant in Birmingham. The small plates idea is super cool and means you can try loads of different dishes. Perfect for a date night! We ordered the parmigiana, mozerella, butternut pizza, seabass and tomato pasta. Everything was delicious.

No reservations for tables possible for parties smaller than 6. Nonetheless seated within about 10 minutes of arriving for table of 2 at 8pm on a Friday evening. Another visit for lunch. Always good staff and excellent food and wine. It's a noisy lively place. Clean neat and tidy. Note that physical disability means a chair lift up the entrance stairs. Prices are creeping up and quality isn't quite what it use to be only 4 stars this time. Also some of the plate sizes and getting towards tiny.

The food was delicious and was cooked quickly, so there wasn't long time to wait. Prices are very reasonable and you get value for money. On the other hand, the combination of restaurant and bar / lounge just isn't very good, because the sound level is really loud with loud music etc, so it's hard to talk and you almost need to shout. So we skipped the dessert and hurried out again as soon as the bill was paid. A shame because it's a nice place where you could have eaten a delicious dessert.

This place offers fantastic Italian tapas which do not disappoint. The choice is endless with a great selection of both meat and fish. The food is immense, but definitely, the seafood was the best - Lobster Thermidor in particular. The cocktail bar is fun too, although the service is a touch surly. My only criticism is that the tables are very crammed together and there is not a lot of room between you - they are getting the maximum out of the space when it would benefit from fewer covers to give a more comfortable experience.

I love this restaurant, it's one of my favourites on Birmingham. Our waiter last night was excellent and so knowledgeable. He told us how to make the auberjine parmajiana and then an alternative recipe with courgettes. We were seated quickly by the front of house staff even though it was a really busy Saturday. Dropped into this restaurant at 3.30pm on a Monday afternoon on route back to the train station. The place was quiet, but I have to say the service and food were absolutely spot on! Fumo is a beautifully designed Italian restaurant, serving what can be best described as 'Italian Tapas' with a good wine list to acompany it. The little plates of food that come out were full of flavour and very authentic in both character and taste. It's evident that a lot of thought has gone through the set up if the menu. The staff are super friendly and always in had when needed. Very nice crowd of diners too.

Italian food to die for but served a bit like tapas. Portions quite small but once you get the hang of what is going on you order accordingly. Dishes came out when they were ready rather than you would get in a more traditional restaurant - again, all part of the charm once you have got the hang of it. The staff were excellent - this is the part that does not differ form a proper posh Italian restaurant - all knew the menu (to help you choose) and their role in process (only one staff member poured wine). I can thoroughly recommend you book and visit with a small group of friends.

Best cocktails in Brum If you're looking for the best cocktails and the best bar staff in Birmingham then this is the place! Always a great atmosphere and fantastic drinks, bar food is amazing too. Gerry the barman always remembers what I like to drink, he makes some amazing cocktails and always has a smile on his face. All the other barmen are friendly and very knowledgeable too....they really know their drinks here! Highly recommend Fumo for food and drinks.

Having visited this vibrant bar/restaurant previously, I knew what was in store. Today's treat included a gorgeous espresso martini, beautiful calamari, and superbly cooked tuna with lentils. We had a disaster dinner and Tattu. However Fumos really turned out night around. The food was so beautiful I cannot fault it.

It was fantastic! We went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was pretty busy- a good sign imv- plus it's one of the few places who don't insist on reservations). The menu is large and takes a bit of time to understand- the best way to describe it is "Italian tapas". There are no starters or mains as such, instead the food is categorised (carne, pesce, pizza etc) and each person will want about three portions (four if you're hungry) if you want to save room for dessert which you will! There are no pics of the mains as they looked and smelled so delicious that we had to dive straight in! I had truffle gnocchi which were light and fluffy and very rich (I'd suggest sharing), salt-fish fritters which were glorious and spaghetti with a veg sauce (not on the menu, but they prepared it without question- asking, despite the other dishes I ordered, whether I wanted it to be vegan). It was the best pasta I've ever eaten! My partner had duck salad (sweet, sharp and succulent), gorgeous roasted asparagus (perfectly al dente) , and sea bass which was deliciously soft, and flavoured & seasoned perfectly to let the fish really shine. We were given a limoncello each while we sat back (almost) completely satisfied and we decided, unusually, to look at the dessert menu. We chose to share a pistachio torte and some ice-cream (3 scoops of lemon sorbet, hazelnut and- again, not on the menu- pistachio). We sat and ate like delighted children - swapping dishes every second bite so as to enjoy these two (well, kind of four) equally delicious desserts. We finished the meal with a laphraoig whisky and an iced coffee with kalhua and two more complementary limoncellos. We weren't celebrating any special occasion - my partner simply decidedon a whim to treat us on a rainy Sunday- but it felt like a very special occasion. The service from Paulo and Roberto was attentive and friendly without being over-zealous or intrusive - Thank you gentlemen! All in (3 courses with a bottle of good wine and digestifs/coffee and including service) it was around £55 each - great value for money! We have paid significantly more for significantly worse food! Fumo is up there in food-memories with the Michelin-starred Carter's of Moseley and Pont de la Tour in London. For those reviewers who have criticised the lack of vegetarian choices I agree that it initially seems limited but suggest simply requesting them! I found them considerate and flexible in providing off-menu options. You made a rainy Sunday special!!!

A restaurant which celebrates the celebrity figures who have previously been there is always a place which is trading in the wrong market and focusing on the wrong thing. And so it is with Fumo, where the food isn't necessarily the focus. The novel approach to Italian dining seems to be their main selling point, but then they haven't managed to really perfect the dishes they have and the choice is overwhelming. Equally, the dishes arrive in varying sizes but no clue is given on ordering as to which plates are larger. And so if you order the salt cod, expect 3 bites whereas the lobster pasta is basically a whole meal. If this sounds like a complaint about nothing it is because the confusion remains throughout the dining experience and lingers longer than the garlic aioli. On our visit there was also bits of shell in the lobster pasta which meant they did take it off the menu. All in all, an ok meal at high prices.
