Beautifully furnished place to eat when you fancy a high standard Italian, though I picked English. Could not resist the thought of lamb this first visit, pancake was not the usual soft floppy but pleasant nevertheless with ice cream plus best sweetest white wine ever. Excellent waiter service.

The moment you step into the restaurant you’ll feel the warmth of the servers. Before commenting on their dishes, I’d like to say that the servers were exceptional! They were very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and more. Our experience here became a whole lot better because of the staff. Now, for the food! I’ve eaten quite a lot of authentic Italian food, and La Galleria sits right at the fence of authenticity. The dishes we ate were delicious given the price, but if authentic Italian food is what you’re looking for, you might be slightly disappointed here. Just slight. I’d still eat here again though!

This was next level gorgeous. Went to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed! The flavours were divine. And the bruschetta and formaggio di caprine were mouthwateringly delicious, I could have those every day and be content! The staff were so lovely and thoughtful (adding an extra piece to our starters as we were a table of three) and asking if we wanted extra garlic – YES! and the décor was stunning. Can’t recommend enough and can’t wait to go back again!

We did an express visit to the city, we had recommendations to come here, and it was great to come. Food was really nice, place was really nice too, location is great. My only complaint is, the spaghetti a l carbonara, it was very nice, but is not the original recipe, they added cream, which it was a bit disappointing, don’t know if is to adapt to the customers, but it will be nice if is original recipe. I wish I could taste the pizzas, maybe another time!

On first impressions the resturant looks clean, traditional and welcoming. We were greated to our table we pre booked with ease. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff very warm. We were making our order and the staffs knowledge was great, and they recommended us a beautiful wine. Starters were amazing nice and fresh and good quality. The main meal was pleasant. My husband was quite happy with his food too. Value wise it was okay value for money, some items were a tad overpriced on the menu in my opinion. Thats just my opinion. Had a slight issue with a dish and allergens, but the service recovery was exellent from the manager. Overall, very nice wine, staff, and service.

My partner took me to this restaurant last night, and oh my gosh! It was like stepping into Italy! Absolutely beautiful food. Lovely atmosphere and the service was spot on. Hate to leave a sub-par review for a restaurant which has been one of our firm favourites in Bham for several years however really disappointed by our most recent visit. Attended on Valentines day and was disappointed by the selection of the set menu given that usually the menu offers so much choice for all tastes, not to mention that the only nice looking starter had sold out by the time our food order was taken 45 mins after arriving. The restaurant was really short staffed, although this wasn't the waitresses fault as she was clearly rushed off her feet it left the whole evening feeling quite rushed and impersonal compared to the usual customer service we have received here. When we had finally had our main course 2 hours after arriving at 10.30 we didn't really want to eat dessert at this time but was told there was no option to have only 2 courses from the set menu, which seemed unfair. Final grumble is that the decor and interior now seems quite old and scruffy compared to its previous rustic feel, it was quite cold on the indoor balcony area and the toilets were freezing. Will be looking for a new italian in bham for now.

A fine Italian restaurant in the heart of Birmingham. Having climbed the stairs, we were met with a warm and friendly welcome. Coat and scarves were hung up for us an we were shown to a well laid out table. Started with succulent Gamberi, followed by Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. Classic Italian cuisine but very tasty and ample portions cooked fresh and nicely presented. The slight disappointment was the Cannoli which was 'stodgy' and not the light crispy pastry tube filled with creamy ricotta, one would have expected.

Genuine Italian restaurant in Birmingham. 4 of us went here late Saturday afternoon after phoning to hear they could fit us in immediately. The waiter and waitress were delightful, friendly and helpful. The food, medium priced, was authentic and delicious. The speed of service was incredible. I would definitely recommend a visit if you enjoy Italian food. A real gem in the city centre.

Don’t just a book by its cover. La Galleria is humble by looks alone. This family run Italian business is big, bright and full of character. The food; my god the food is good. As I sat and attended to by caring staff I looked out and saw the chefs hard at work. The hard work results in Italian dishes that are sublime. This is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever experienced. That includes food I’ve eaten in Italy.

This has been dubbed the best Italian restaurant in Birmingham so we decided to give it a try during eat out to help out (August 2020) and we weren't disappointed! The service as soon as you walk in is superb, all the waiters are very attentive and keep you updated if there are any delays. You can tell that it's a family run business which gives it a lovely atmosphere, and it's open and bright making it a perfect spot for a date night or a place to take the family. Now for the food - it really is delicious! I went for a starter and a main and they were both so flavourful and moreish. Our waiter was very friendly and funny and made our experience enjoyable. We have booked to go back on May 20th 2021 as our first restaurant which says it all really! It's also very reasonably priced for the quality you get. 100% would recommend anyone to try La Galleria.

We visited La Galleria on the evening of Friday the 27th of August and from the minute we entered we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance of the restaurant itself. It was well attended and the decor and music playing gave the restaurant a genuine Italian vibe. We were greeted immediately and asked where we would like to sit and chose the balcony. We were able to peruse the menus without any sense of urgency whilst taking advantage of a glass of the “house red” which was excellent. The choice on the menu was extensive and varied covering all tastes and the prices were very reasonable. The portions of all our courses were of a good size and on looking at other peoples choices it was obvious that portions were generous and well presented …. Our food quality was excellent as was the attentiveness of all the staff which created a good family atmosphere. On the whole we had a very enjoyable evening and will most definitely return. To celebrate special occasions this restaurant is a must.

Not a wide selection of alcohol on tap, unfortunately - Peroni was all that was available on the night but it also ran out quickly and then they only had 330ml bottles (very overpriced) - But overall, the food made up for the lack of drink available!

The most gorgeous meal from a family run Italian restaurant in central Birmingham. Who knew I could pop over just to the midlands for such incredible Italian food?! Started with burrata and figs, then creamy cheesy gnocchi and ended with ferrero richer ice cream. My friends made the most of the many seafood options with scallops, king prawns and seafood 🍝

Hadn't booked a table so a few places were either full or Hadn't got enough staff to open fully.... So we then noticed restaurant La Galleria ( Italian ) They were able to accommodate us with a lovely table, very friendly staff service was superb. Menu plenty of choice but we decided on the fish menu, I had salmon with pink pepper corn sauce it was that tasty I had to ask for slices of bread. My husband had Seabass with accompanying vegetables. A little pricy but you get what you pay for, food service & attention. WOULD RECOMMEND , and we will return Thank you staff at La Galleria for making our night superb 👌

Foods really nice and traditional. The pizzas are wood oven fired just like they do in Naples. I’ve visited here 3 times and enjoyed each time. I alternate between pizza and fish. Their fish specials are delicious. I can’t award 5 stars as the portions are quite small in my opinion disregarding the pizza portion.

We went for an after work dinner yesterday with my friend and we are still amazed how amazing everything was. The place is stunning and immaculate the staff is the friendliest I have ever seen. We tried their garlic bread, carbonara, risotto with chicken & prawns, black forest cake and cheesecake it was delightful. Portions are huge I couldn’t have anything else to eat until lunch time today. Elena was so lovely, nicest person I have ever met. Wish everyone in the world would be like her and the world would be a much nicer place. I can not wait to go back again, do recommend this place. Also it’s a bonus that they participate in the eat out help out scheme so go and try it out :). Well done guys, we love you Elena you really made our day with your kindness x

Proprio buono! I am a quarter Italian and my Grandad is a retired head chef who is the full Italian in our family. I am so surprised that I have found such an authentic Italian restaurant. The food here is absolutely gorgeous, I usually have either the calamari fritti or frittura mista to start and either a pasta dish or pizza for the main, however have also tried the fish and its safe to say everything here is absolutely 10/10! In fact 11/10. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous too, this place is just everything you want from an Italian restaurant.

We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant a few weeks ago. Super friendly staff with excellent service - some of the best in Birmingham. Our starters, mains, and gelato were all delicious and great value too - can tell they use fresh ingredients. Love the authentic Italian atmosphere as well.

Fantastic! We had a beautiful meal with this Italian last night for my mums 60th, last minute booking and made us fresh gluten free pasta on a late notice basis that was just delicious! All meals were perfect portions, fresh and almost entirely home made! Staff were so kind and wonderful service! Highly recommend!

Two menus to choose from for main courses, fish or the house menu. Lots of lovely starters and range of pasta, rice, meat and pizzas for mains. It was a cold evening when I visited and was offered a seat by a window. We asked if we could move after our drinks order was placed as it was very cold sitting there. The reason I haven't given five stars is because I thought the whole place was quite cold and should have been warmer. The four stars are for the nice welcome, good menu, very tasty food and a fair price. £70 for two including starters, mains and two drinks each for two people. Check website for the menu. A good range of wines but only a couple of bottled beers available. A free short offered and accepted when we paid the bill. I would go again so from me that's decent praise!

What a treasure! A family run restaurant in Birmingham City centre. La Galleria is a fantastic restaurant that me and my partner very much both enjoy. It’s such a shame it’s tucked away down an alley by Grand Central, but has that feel of a diamond in the rough, a hidden gem we can feel proud of knowing exists. The service is incredible: very fast and everything is hot, the waitresses speak beautiful English, they’re always presentable and give us plenty of time to settle and choose our meal, and wind down afterwards before a bill is thrown in your face like most places. This is my favourite place to eat REAL Italian food — whether I’m feeling something hearty and filling, or taking a gamble on food I’ve never tried before to get an authentic taste of Italian cuisine. I had the Pennette Al’ Arrabbiata with the marinated olives, and my partner had the Lasagna, with a side of fries and an enormous garlic bread which we had to share. We drive up for forty minutes, there and back, and park at the Town Hall multi-story (where the parking is very modest), and it’s a three minute walk to the restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who’s just looking for something new, or branching out into the city for a date night, or valentines, birthdays perhaps? They can accommodate for any occasion. I also highly recommend their Pineapple ice cream which I cannot buy anywhere else, it isn’t available in supermarkets, and is my favourite style of ice cream. La Galleria should never change, it does an excellent job of being it’s own ‘thing’, which it does very well. Thank you, La Galleria, for always providing us a great night, with a hot meal and the pleasure of actually wanting to pay for a meal. I’ve never had any issues, and neither will you.

Hidden gem of a restaurant. Have been walking past for years and have always been told good things by colleagues and friends who have visited. I finally had the chance to visit for a friend's 30th birthday meal last week and it really didn't disappoint. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff who made recommendations for food and wine. We had a spacious table for our large group and all food was served together and piping hot. We had a selection of starters to share including the calamari, scallops, garlic bread and meat board. For mains there were also a range of fish, pasta and pizza dishes ordered and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. The serving sizes were great - the calzone was huge! Perfectly located for easy access from the stations and close to Town Hall, ICC and Symphony Hall. Will definitely be back in future.

A truly welcoming & enjoyable place to eat. The owner and all staff are so friendly and knowledgable about the food they serve. The food is of exceptional standard and portion sizes really big. You won't leave hungry. There isn't any draft lager, but the wine list is extensive. The only negative is the service was so fast that we were in and out in no time and I would have liked to soak up the friendly atmosphere some more. You also need to book, as rightly so, this restaurant is always full. If you want tasty Italian food, then you must visit La Galleria.

We wandered about on a Friday evening trying to find somewhere for dinner and our granddaughter mentioned that she’d had takeaway pizza from this restaurant so we thought we’d give it a try. It was great. A traditional Italian restaurant in the best sense of ‘traditional’ with friendly waiters and an extensive menu. I had the Dover Sole, which was cooked to perfection; no easy thing with Dover Sole. My wife had the Monkfish and our granddaughter had a pizza, large enough for all of us. We all had dessert and two very nice glasses of wine. Very reasonably priced and a real find. Shame she graduates this year so it’s unlikely we will be able to be back.

This was going to be a 4 star review because I was placed at probably the worst table possible (directly behind the bar with no window view) and the music playlist is pretty horrendous (weird Italian pop). HOWEVER, the food here is absolutely phenomenal. I had the Pollo E Pancetta for main (with a glass of white wine) followed by Cannoli Siciliano for dessert. The food and wonderful staff completely made up for my seating (to be fair, the rest of the restaurant seating looks quite lovely). They have to change the music though. Some slower, piano-based jazz would compliment the style & elegance of the restaurant beautifully.

I cannot recommend La Galleria enough. I'm in Birmingham for a one day conference and at the end of an intense day wanted to gather my thoughts over a good meal. Originally I saw Ask and Bella Italia but discounted them as I didn't fancy Italian. Heading towards Wagamama my eye was caught by the immaculate frontage of La Galleria and that was it. From walking through the double doors at the top of their stairs to the friendly reception and amazing aromas as I was welcomed inside I knew I had come to the right place. The head waiter and owner were perfect hosts. Trusting myself to their choice of red wine was the best thing I could have done. I had not previously tried negroamoro but will now look for it. I mentioned I favoured steak and I enjoyed the most succulent 9oz I have eaten in a long time. I WILL be traveling from London just to eat here again. I cannot adequately put into words how good this restaurant is. You must experience it for yourself. Staff, food ambience - I have found my happy place.
