F. U.First time we had ever eaten here. We came on a Saturday evening without reservation and they seated us straight away. The service was excellent and the food exceeded our expectations! We had the tomato bruschetta, mushroom crostini and the pollo cacciatore.

M. T.Being "long time customers" of Bella Italia, we were delighted to see that Marco Polo was back on the menu after a long absense. On visiting the Cribbs Causeway restaurant on 11 May, we both ordered Marco Polo, expecting the original tasty pasta with shredded duck in a sweet plum sauce. Although the meal was quite tasty, it was certainly not the original recipe ...... in fact, it tasted quite spicey. As neither of us are fans of spicey meals we were rather disappointed! What an anti-climax!! Come on, Bella Italia! If you are claiming that "Marco Polo is back" then the least you can do is offer the original recipe.

Offering - lots of choice including for vegetarians. I had the caprese salad which was delicious but did not include any yellow tomorrow’s as stated. Our bread was so overcooked it disappeared into dust when we tried to break it. Pasta was tasty but very dry - not enough sauce. Panna cotta was liquid but the passion fruit was delicious. They do these nice mini desserts with your coffee. Coffee was good too.
Atmosphere - Relaxed atmosphere and private enough for a quiet meal without having tables very close to you.
Location - Based at the venue at Cribbs Causeway, easy to get to and lots of other things nearby.

Fabulous service from the moment we got through the door, polite, friendly staff who were run off their feet but they all functioned like a well oiled machine. The food was delicious and despite them being busy arrived speedily. Special mention for our waitress, Marina, who was fantastic, friendly and super efficient.

I have lactose intolerance and my wife has a wheat intolerance so eating out can often be a chore and yep the shopping in our house always fun!. After looking online we checked their menu and gave it a go. From starters to deserts they offer many options to cover most allergens. The lady who seated us was friendly and very helpful and offered options not clear on the menu. I had meatballs to start with vegan cheese and it was delicious I highly recommend them to any visitor. My wife enjoyed a gluten free pizza which she says was 5 star very tasty and fresh, very good bread for gluten free. The restaurant is lovely and the music fitting my only issue here was we were left unattended from the food coming out. We wanted more drinks but it was as if the staff disappeared, no one in sight. We had to search for someone when we wanted to pay and then the waitress offered us a desert menu, little too late!. I didn't want this issue to spoil the review as like I said the options were good and very tasty. Lactose intolerance/ vegan options 5☆

A. C.A large group of us ate here and as expected we got what we asked for with a little extra as it was a birthday meal. The staff were very good with the children and the service, in general, was good.
The food is ok, nothing special - you get what you ask for in these chains, the recipes are all the same.
Parking was easy and free and it was virtually empty when we sat down at 4pm.
a. p.First visit to one of this chains branches. Overall good quality food, we had pizza and pasta dishes our waitress was really lovely couldn't fault her! A bit of a wait for a table but it was the Sunday before Christmas.
U.Great place and have been here quite a few times, although on a recent visit management failed to inform floor staff of relevent promotions I give 4 stars as this I'm putting down to the COVID-19 situation. Would go there again, and will. Fantastic range of beverages and large range of food for those with dietary requirements including dairy free, and gluten free.

A. S.I've been a fan of Bella for a number of years now having visited around 15 branches, from Glasgow to Southend. The venue at Cribbs stands head and shoulders above all others, mainly due to the efforts of the folk that work there. A special shout out is due to the hard working duo of Pradeep and Fallon, who always provide a warm welcome and set the tone for others to follow. Even when the venue is at capacity the team work extremely hard to look after their customers and keep everything moving. The food is excellent and I've never had a bad meal here. Looking forward to my next visit.

I. T.I hope people see this as a fair comment as I wasn't very impressed to start with.
Firstly the service was poor. Over 20 minutes to get someone just to take a drinks order. It wasn't really the waitresses fault. There just wasn't enough staff. After asking 3 times for someone to take the order she finally turned up.
Next was having someone to actually bring the drinks to the table as we could see them lined up on the bar. In the end I got them myself which appeared to upset the manager.
Starters was ok. We had dough balls to share and some were over cooked and some cold and some good. It gave the impression we had freshly cooked and old ones.
The mains came out at different times (lack of staff issues again) but to be fair they were all good. We had a mixture of pizzas and pasta and everyone enjoyed it. It would have been nice to have more than one pizza cutter as we had more than one pizza but hey you can't have everything.
Next came the desserts. Again delivered at different times. One person finished their dessert before we got them all. But again they were nice. I thought the gelato was really good.
My last comment is for the manager. Once he recognised I was initially unhappy having to wait, he kind of went into over the top mode. His voice was loud and was not necessary when he was stood next to me. It was as if he was trying to impress the room when all I wanted was to be served. I didn't appreciate him trying to tell me he was trying to help while I was eating as to be fair I wasn't asking for help at that point as we got served.
He did knock 10% off the bill without me asking for it which is good until I realised they added on 10% for the service automatically anyway so it was the least he could do as it was poor. But hey at that point I wasn't bothered about it. I just wanted out. Over 2 hours for a lunch time meal was a bit over the top in my opinion.
To sum up, probably a nice place to go, if quiet, as the food was good for what it was. But Saturday lunch when busy I would avoid unless you don't mind waiting.

As an example of nearby restaurants wait, at TGI Fridays you'll easily have a wait of 10-30 minutes just to take your initial drinks order in my experience.

The pasta and pizza meals are very tasty and a decent size but it's one of those meals you can easily make at home yourself for ~£2 so to pay £12-£14 if needs to be something special and amazingly friendly service and it's not that. But like I said there are always 40% off vouchers online so grab one of them and it's a decent enough meal out.

Is it the best Italian I've ever been to? No, but the food seems fresh and is really tasty with some traditional Italian recipes.

E. S.I booked a table for two for at 7pm on a Wednesday evening, The table we were given was about 3 rows away from the kitchen area where we could feel the heat from the kitchen and were regularly wafted with smoke from the grill. We both found it almost unbearable hot at our table.
Overall, our evening started off quite poor but got a bit better as the evening went on. Our table hadn't been set, and nor did our waitress bring us any cutlery until after we had tried to persevere through our calzones with our knives and our fingers (we assumed this was the correct way the waitress was horrified when she realised she hadn't given us any forks). There was a candle in a wine bottle that hadn't been lit, and I noticed that the candles at all of the tables were not lit. If you're going to have a candle to provide atmosphere, surely it needs to be lit?
The calzones (both carne) were nice but nothing special. The meatballs were a sort of mush and there wasn't a whole lot of integrity to the filling. We ordered two salads having felt guilty for all of the calories we were about to put away, but were sorely disappointed when our salads arrived in two piping hot bowls. I couldn't eat mine as I was put off by the experience of warm, raw vegetables with my meal.
Dessert was okay, we ordered 3 scoops of gelato each with toppings (having decided to ditch the diets for one evening!). We were disappointed to be allowed to order toppings, only then to be told that there was no chocolate tagliatelle or chocolate beans. "Crushed" amaretti biscuits weren't, they were just two whole amaeretti biscuits, shoved down either side of the tub. The chocolate fudge sauce leaves much to be desired, having more resemlance to a rich, cold, chocolate custard.
The real saving grace to this place is the staff, who were very friendly. Our waitress was very patient as my husband deliberated over his dessert and they were all smiles and gratitude when we left.
An okay night over all, I might visit again if I was in the area but probably wouldn't go out of my way anytime soon.
C. A.I had prawn starter which was amazing and then also had the deep fried cheese thing which was quite revolting. The main salmon dish was good and the veg tasted nice but it was nothing spectacular. The tirimasu was tasty as well. Overall it was ok but it could have been better.
