Had a delicious meal here with 3 others the other day. Well made tasty dishes and great wines. I started with scollops which were juicy and perfectly cooked, followed by the Salmon dish which was also cooked to perfection. The team were very accommodating and looked after us very well also. Perfect on a nice sunny day.

Just popped in for a cheeky beer and a snack. Sampled a few starters to share as we felt peckish. A good position and pleasant vista. Very relaxed atmosphere and unhurried. Only missed a couple of plates to share the tasty morsels on, and water for the table. The scallop starter was slightly overdone but still very tasty, would have it again and will be back to sample the wider menu. There's also parking that makes it very convenient once the access roads have been negotiated.

We (eight of us ranging in age from 18 to 75) selected La Marina for lunch after attending a local activity centre. It's safe to say we were all impressed (and there were 'foodies' among us) with the quality of the food, ambience and over all atmosphere. Of particulr note for staters were the: -Arancini -Frittura Di Pesce for mains: -Maiale Toscano -Pollo Ripieno -Risotto Funghi & Gorgonzola and puds: -Berrie Brule -Lemoncello Panacotta Although the resturant wasn't completely full, it was busy. So it was nice not to be hurried off the table at the end of our meal. Thanks team La Marina - we'll be back!

We rocked up to La Marina (having had lunch there several years earlier). It was busy in Portishead on what was a sunny Sunday afternoon...the restaurant and outside space was of-course fully booked but the manager was able to jiggle some things around and accommodate us for yet another lovely 3-course lunch with wine. The area is full of chain restaurants but La Marina is a unique gem and definitely worth a visit even for just a coffee. Staff very polite and professional 👍

Exceptional Italian restaurant in a very picturesque location. Stopped for lunch nd choose the 2 course menu for 14.50, saying that is exceptional value for money is the understatement of the decade. Food is tasty, fresh, cooked to perfection and of very high quality. The place is spotless and welcoming right on the edge of the marina. The aubergine parmigiana is the best this side of London I have tasted. If you are in the area and look for a true and authentic Italian food experience look no further. 5 stars.

Excellent and authentic Italian cuisine. The food at La Marina is very good, truly Italian cooked and served by Italians, what more could you want for a proper mediterranean inspired menu. Lunch for three in their well spaced restaurant. Lovely welcome and seating experience. Cutlery gleamingly clean and glassware sparkling. Lots of attention to detail here! Table service superb as was the food choice. I chose whitebait and calamari as a starter followed by shoulder of lamb with vegetables. The gravy was rich, dark and glossy. Quantities were sufficient and beautifully plated. All in all, superb location with nearby pay parking, amazing food and superb service. This is a business of which to be proud. We will certainly return.

We booked ahead and were really glad we did, as they were pretty busy. The meal was delicious, especially the pistachio profiteroles, they were wonderful. The staff were all very kind and polite and they made sure we had a fabulous time. It's in a lovely location and you can eat outside on sunny days. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant and would absolutely love to go back. It would be nice if they could do a vegetarian alternative for the Sunday roast, as I'm sure I'd have really enjoyed that.

Went at 12.30 for a quick bite to eat with my other half, great prompt service we Had 2 courses for £16 something I had araccini they were very tasty but could have been crisper. I have been here a few times, and it is a nice spot to go for a meal. Service was fine. Only complaint were that portions were rather small. My mushroom starter was one mushroom! Very disappointed yesterday. Was given menu but not the actual steak menu although it was wed steak night. Had seen on board so ordered 2. Both came with salad.no offer of seasonal veg as ternative. Steaks were OK.portions of chips very very few. Still felt very hungry and very disappointed as had looked forward to this all day. My husband told the waiter. Said it said veg on menu and said we had seen it. My husband disagreed. He went to fetch separate steak menu which we definitely had not been shown.. Waiter said it was good value meal. We said no as still hungry. He said when we come again he will give us more food..... Not really the answer we expected. So we went home and had more food. Not a great evening and will not be returning there... If advertised as a special should be delivered as one.

Really beautiful outlook, especially on such a beautiful sunny summer day. Very accommodating of pushchairs, great changing facilities in large ladies toilet with a chair in there if you want to breast feed in private (I have a very nosy baby!!) as the restaurant is all glass and open to the world. Perfect! The perfect place to eat, with a fantastic view over the lock and River Severn.... The food was fantastic, and service exceptional. I had an entree of olives and bread, followed by BiaMaria pasta....pasta with prawns, mussels and white crab meat...with a garlic and chilli sauce...think I was a tad anti social on the following morning. Came in at around £20 for my meal...and I was so full I couldnt even think of looking at the sweet menu. Want to go back soon!!

Enjoyed lunch here recently. Food and wine were delicious, location is unique. Having said that, we were shocked to discover later, a food hygiene rating of just 1 (major improvement necessary) so 2 stars deducted. They really need to address this asap. The Food Standards Agency inspection was in June 2018. Should also mention, drinks are expensive (large glass of wine £10) and the cappuccino we had, a bit watery and weak :-( Update: Food Standards Agency seem to have reviewed the hygiene rating again in October 2018 and it has now been reduced to Zero. Goodness only knows what they have found in the kitchens but I noticed the restaurant does not display either rating on the premises which I believe is not a legal requirement in England (even though both are terrible - go figure!). They really need to improve their rating as a priority for all our sakes!

Cozy yet contemporary and cool atmosphere. Good selection of Italian music. Great attention by Peppe and all staff. The sea bass risotto was delicious! The fish skin slightly crisp and full of flavour as well as the rice which was awesome even by itself. Generous portions and the brownie is delicious! Must be lovely on a summer dinner while it's still sunlit, but still quite enjoyable during winter. My in-laws who came visiting from Denmark and my wife, we all loved it!

Starters were far too big (like main dish big) and spaghetti seafood dish was just spaghetti with a couple muscles. Toilets were clean. I was served by a grey haired man with glasses and an accent who was nice. Just a bit of refining is needed but I will grant there isn't a lot of space to work with.

Every time I go to La Marina I'm never disappointed. This time we went for lunch, we had two courses for £14.50 and the food was amazing. One of the best lasagnes I've had. I thought an Italian place would sell coffee during lunch but nope. Drinkswise it's mostly alcohol for serving with meals, and then the average soft drinks. I tried two starters which were huge. The Calamari in tomato sauce which was made from fresh tomatoes and Goats cheese with forest fruit jam on top which came with a bit of side salad. Food took about 10 or 15 mins. God you get a lot on your plate! It was all lovely although the salad leaves were going transparent. Far too much goats cheese for a starter..more like a full packet for a portion made into a tower, lovely taste though. I think I would have preferred less Calamari in the starter as it didn't hold onto any sauce when you pick it out so was like eating alot of soft rubber, nicer in smaller portions. Staff were Italian men, very attentive. They do contactless payment too.

La Marina is a little hard to find the first time you visit as the roads on both sides of the Marina are very similar, and Google Maps gives slightly odd directions. But once there the restaurant area is bright with good views over the old harbour entrance, though if you want a clear view north toward the new Severn Bridge and Avonmouth across the “bay” it’s best to book either of the two tables at the far end of the restaurant. The view to Avonmouth is not that drab as there is plenty of water between you and the port with its gigantic red cranes etc. Don’t forget though the tide may be out! As far as the food is concerned I would say it’s some of the best Italian food we’ve tasted in Bristol, with quite a wide range of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes. Whether it’s truly authentic or not is hard to say as I’ve not visited non tourist areas of Italy. My wife and I enjoyed our 2 course lunch immensely and will be returning.

If you are looking for a lovely and quite unusual place for a meal then we love Farrells. Their menu suits our tastes and the tongue in cheek humour provided by the two waiters is a relaxing and refreshing diversion in an age of corporately trained "student" waiting staff. Try Sunday Lunch and, if the tides are right, relax and watch the activity of the boats locking in and out of Portishead Marina ... and the people watching them ... almost continental.
