Really popular on a sunny day. Lots of choice if you obviously love cider. Great atmosphere, kept nice and clean. Never queued long considering the amount of people here.

Really cool boat on the side of the river in the centre of Bristol. Bit rough and ready in terms of decor, but that suits the surroundings. Good selection of ciders at a good price (although if you like ale then it’s only bottles and they’re a bit dear, but they are local). Worth a visit.

Great place to drink excellent cider. Such an unusual bar, but it's nice to have the choice of drinking on deck, below deck (where the bar is situated) or on the quayside. Went here twice and found the bar staff to be friendly and helpful and the selection of ciders was excellent. Good prices too. With an outdoor bar as well as plenty of seating The Apple is great place to stop off for a couple of ciders along Welsh Back, literally opposite King St which also has a number of great place with a chilled atmosphere. Whenever I've been to The Apple the staff have always been welcoming/helpful, especially when it comes to recommendations base on cider preference. Overall if you're a fan of cider and enjoy easygoing atmosphere's then The Apple is worth a visit. Will add that the main bar is on a docked boat if you've not been before, which in itself has a unique character to it.

Really laid back and friendly vibe. My first visit to Bristol and this was a warm welcome! I'm no cider drinker usually but really enjoyed the Iford (staff recommendation). The boat is really well decked out (pardon the pun) with a snug downstairs bar and larger space up top. Very cosy on a chilly winter night but probably best enjoyed in the sunshine....

Decided to try this place early one Saturday evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The drinks on offer were delicious, and the staff were always on hand, (as it was a "table service"). I highly recommend this place, especially if you're a cider drinker like me.

Drink up thy zider, drink up thy zider! For tonight we'll merry be! Yes, this is the quintessential Bristol pub. Cider. Lots of it. None of this bloody Kopparberg, we're talking about proper, South West style cider. The best stuff is the non-sparkling, which ranges from dry (and I means DRY) to sweet-but-not-artificial. There's sparkling and beer too, so don't worry yourself if the above is not for you. The location on the river is a real bonus too. Perfect for sunny days!

This is the ploughmans I've been looking for. I heard about this place a few years back and have been attempting to pay "The Apple" a visit. As a cider drinker and a lover of a cheese, chutney and crusty bread I am still reeling from the most awesome lunch I have had in a long time. Set on a really simple boat with seats on the cobbles and on board split over two levels we opted for river side seats on the top deck of the boat. After ordering our food and sampling a few ciders at the bar we sat down and waited for the usual long wait during the busy office hour lunch break. We where in for a shock when our ploughmans turned up quite promptly. It was too good to eat and I just looked and it and took some pictures, Which as a non-instergramer I never do! We ordered two different ploughmans to give us a bit of variety, this gave us 3 different chutney's and a whole grain mustard, blue cheese, smoked apple wood, cheddar and a delicious perfectly sized pork pie along with ample helpings off crackers and warm bread. I can not do this meal justice in words, you have to go and try if for yourself. I will be back very soon.

Basically a large seating area on the Riverside next to the boat called "The Apple". The boat does actually seat people too but only open for the loos at the moment due to Covid. They do have space heaters and large umbrellas though so good chance you'll not be too cold or wet going forward. Table service at mo and very friendly staff. Large selection of local ciders.

The Apple has become a firm favourite for many years offering up one of the largest and most scrumptious ranges of ciders in the city of Bristol, all within the quaint surroundings of the harbourside. Despite all this, the new system that has been implemented is poor. Customers are ignored and left waiting for inordinate amounts of time. Service has become sluggish and staff appear unenthusiastic. I hope this changes soon.

Went there a LOT when I was a student, re-visited the place recently (a decade later), still much the same, quiet until ~ 9pm, then students get down there. Good atmosphere. Comfy sofas down below, top deck for drinking too. Lots of ciders available. Not one alcohol free beer or cider, or bottled tonic water, but didn't really expect they would in a place like this. Not a bad place to visit whilst passing through. Geared towards the younger crowd.

Great atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Good range of ciders and cocktails. Very pleasant sitting inside or outside the boat, soaking up the charming Bristol riverside vibe. It took a little while to be served, but it's a popular venue and they were working fast. We moved on after one round of drinks, because a pleasant pub crawl is so easy in this area of the city. But next time we might stay longer and try more of the drinks.

Great atmosphere, very relaxed. Fantastic range of ciders to try. With seating down inside the boat or outside gave me a chance to avoid the sun for a while until I was ready to rejoin it. Staff were knowledgeable on the range of ciders served, this allowed me to try ones I hadn't before to suit my tastes.

Like cider? Good, go here. They have so many delicious ones available. It's very affordable here. The staff are great. I dropped a pint over myself once, to which the barman kindly replaced it without charge (note I didn't ask him to). If the sun is shining go here. There are plenty of benches outside. A good cider pub with a lively atmosphere situated in a boat. Famous locally. I do love the apple and have spent some brilliant nights here, but it does disappoint me that the cider lineup never really changes. That being said, they do say dont mess with something If it isnt broken.

The ciders here are fantastic and some of the best selection in the city. Where, for me, the bar fails is its failure to keep up with the local King Street vibes, however the cider is cheap compared to many of the King Street bars and I would recommend this bar on a boat to anyone looking to have a taste of the West Country for a cheap amount.

Definitely a venue to visit in the summer months, the Apple offers a range of 'proper' ciders along with a range of bottled varieties from national producers. A student favourite not least for the 'Old Bristolian' - a cider only served in half pints because of its strength. During the day they serve a great ploughman's lunch which I reckon is one of the best around. Although the boat itself is fairly compact, the adjacent area on the harbour side itself is pretty large and can accommodate a huge number of people.

I am a great fan of "proper" cider which needs no addition except a glass to enjoy. The Apple is a converted barge. The cider comes in boxes to reduce the speed this lovely drink goes off. Friendly team in charge, knowledgeable about the product, good pricing, some simple grub to be had to accompany the heaven sent product. If ever you wish to see whats what go to Mudgeley near Wedmore in Somerset in the Autumn and have your eyes opened like St Peter did near Damascus.

We sat outside and ordered ciders from the cider van, the staff running the van were visibly very drunk. It’s disappointing because inside the boat the atmosphere is great and looks like there’s great service, only saw that when we went to the toilet though.

Great range of ciders and the old Bristolian cider tastes lovely. I shared a farmhands picnic basket meal with my boyfriend when we went last and the food was really tasty. I also liked the added novelty of actually serving it to us in a picnic basket. They've also improved the bar service lately by opening a bar outside next to the benches at busier times.

I thought My tongue knew dry cider. No, not after this dry cider. This is is the driest of all dry cider in the world and I’ve sipped upon very dry ciders. An Apple laid to dry in the hot Arizona sun then stomped on by leather and vinegar soaked boots: that’s what this dry cider is like. If that’s your cup of tea (or cider) than I salute you, if not, don’t order their dry cider.

I had a great experience here on a sunny afternoon on a Saturday in the summer (how's that for an alliteration). I remember the patrons as well as the staff being particularly cheerful. The establishment had a plethora of drinks to choose from, and it was a great chance to try many different Bristolian and Somerset ciders. Highly recommended for those travelling through Bristol as well as for those who live in the city.

Thought there must be something wrong with my apple juice, as I felt a bit woozy, then it was pointed out that I had just consumed a pint of Old Montezumas Golden Giddy, – everything was fine after a couple more... and a shot of Cider Eau de Vie, some time later I woke up in a boat in Avonmouth – how I got there is anyones guess, fortunatley no harm done, all good and throughouly recommend The Apple ;)

Cider.. on a boat.... bang in the middle of Bristol, what more could you want? As the name would suggest, The apple primarily serves up a range of ciders made both locally and further afield, offering a cider to suit most people.. if in doubt just ask the staff!.. The downstairs area is pretty small and dark, but upstairs is a fraction more spacious with patio heaters. You can also sit on the quayside on the barges' benches and under the large umbrella. The bar is popular particularly on weekends and with the after work crowd. Well worth a visit for any cider fan.

A Bristol institution - this was one of the first places I was taken when I moved to the city! A wide range of ciders (with wine and beer for people who aren't fans of the apples), and some great variants on mulled cider in the colder months. The Apple has two levels: you can sit either on or below deck. Both have their benefits: downstairs is cosy, upstairs has great views of the river. There's also seating on land for those who get motion sickness... The Apple does get very busy, especially in the summer months, and I'm not a fan of the unisex toilets, which are a little odd. A must-visit, though, if you're in Bristol.

Always a great start to a night out and perfectly captures the cool but unmistakably West Country vibe that Bristol promises, especially as it is on an old Barge in the Bristol Harbour. Don't have too many of them.
